Very knowledgeable about subject matter and makes the material easy to understand. Always available outside class.
Kathie is great, wonderful teacher. Watch out for co-instructor Joe Durek though.....
Pretty nice but don't miss any class or she takes off a lot of points!
Very nice and knowledgeble person. But be careful with exams, they are not as easy, make sure you read book carefully, she likes to include examples from it. Cathy is very easy to reach for students
I would echo the sentiment about her tests being "not easy." Still, with hard work, an A is very possible. She is very accessible to students who need help, and is one of UCF's best instructors as far as I am concerned. Will take for Capstone
Overally a good and fair teacher.
alot of busy work ...get a good group.
Nitpicky to the extreme for papers. If you do not use keywords, she WILL mark you down, even if all the points are clear.
Very good if you're looking to learn about entreprenuership. Very helpful and knowledgable, would recommend fi you're really interested in learning.
Class is not very interesting, her tests are very hard with a lot of information
Kathie is very nice and charming, but the class structure leaves no room for ambigious lectures. Her lectures are not keen to the info you need to know for exams. Tons of group work, so get a good one. Exams are not easy, period. Count this as two classes
Very nice, willing to help. Alot of group work, grades hard on group assignments. Tests are impossible, very difficult. I would take someone else.
Her tests are difficult but possible to get a good grade with a lot of studying the book. She was not helpful AT ALL when I went to her office hours, gave excuses as to why she could not explain an answer to HER OWN test question. Will never take her again!
very nice instructor, this class is an elective and it requires ALOT of work; the tests are not easy at all.
Tests are the hardest I've taken at UCF. Classwork is worthless for actual learning. Tests and the class have nearly nothing in common. And she seemed to be a little 2 faced.
She is a nice lady but her tests are way to hard!!. I think I only passed one of them. It is indeed a good idea to get a good group since you will be doing a lot of group work. If there is someone easier, take him/her.
Too much ambiguity about tests. Poor structured group work - hard to know where you stand. Do the work, go to her for "help," and you can get an A.
The test material is 95% book and 5% class.
She is very nice but what she wants is creativity within the requirements. Pick a good group. Read the book because all the test questions come from the book. She requires you to attend an outside event. Get business cards!
Nice teacher but tests are hard! You have an assigned group for the semester so don't miss any group assignments because major points off.
Be prepared to read the whole book, test questions do not come from lecture, but you need to be at lecture for group assignments. Tests are real tough, but its possible to do good on them, i did. other than tht, shes cool.
Do not take this teacher!! She comes off nice, but its fake. You explain your point of view on a test question, that the whole class didn't agree with (with the page in the book to prove it) and she doesn't want to listen and admit she was wrong.
DON NOT TAKE FOR CORNERSTONE! Is a bad cornerstone teacher who grades extremely hard. She even has a "personal grader" to grade our papers. Cornerstone is a hard course but this is impossible to pull an A. She doesn't tell you anything about assignments but grades REALLY hard. NOT CLEAR!
Nice teacher but tests are extremely hard. As much as you study it is not likely you will get a good grade. Lectures are usually not helpful for a test have to read book.
great teacher, has an easy going personality and is very helpful. test are straight from the book, kinda of hard
This teacher is extremely hard. People say Cornerstone is hard, but comparing her to ALL other professors, she's the hardest. Do NOT take this teacher. I feel so sorry for anyone who does take her. As for the tests, they are not as hard as people make them out to be, just study.
dr. n slave! dont take her as well for a bit of advice
teacher does NOT teach what is on the test, can ignore her just read the book. She tries to be helpful but isn't. simulations need to be written like your in 5th grade keep it simple and you'll do better. READ THE BOOK!! or the test will crush you, class is easy test is hard
Mrs. Holland is the best. She's the nicest teacher. Tests are hard, strait from the book. Her MC, SAQ are very tricky. But group work is all in class and it actually taught me a lot.
Worst teacher at UCF. Very hard, not nice (well unless you like someone that is fake nice). Does not work with students. Class is annoying. She also does not understand simple logic and says things and does things that do not make sense. I'd rather stick a sharp stick in my eye that take for another class again.
Comes off as very nice, but its obviously an act. Her tests are very hard, and she doesnt focus on the important points. Not an overall horrible teacher, but really opposite of how she comes across to students.
Tests are hard - READ THE BOOK!Powerpoints are pointless. Company simulations are a blessing if you get a good group. They are worth more than anything else in the course and are not hard if you give her what she wants. No work outside of class, which is nice.
VERY closed minded teacher who pretends to be sweet, unless there are any issues or disagreements. Why she speaks to the class I have no idea, because the tests all come from the book. An A is very possible, but you need a good group and a little luck with her.
Tests are challenging- from the book, She is always smiling and happy even when giving bad news. Key to passing is a good group for feasibility analysis, if she doesnt like your group, your SOL.
Here's the bottomline: Holland SUCKS like a Dyson vacuum. Her "Mr. Rogers" nicety gets annoying after the first class. Her tests are outrageously difficult and focus on minutia. Forget about using her study guide and be prepared to read the ENTIRE textbook. She focuses on simple grammatical errors like you're still in the second grade.
ok, shes not as bad as evryone says! nice lady, expects mature people and get on her good side! classes are long/boring. tests are hard, but i got a D on all 3 and still passed with a B. Get a GOOD team for the project - big part of grade! just act real interested, ask a lot of quest., go to class always - you'll be fine!
terrible teacher, acts nice but very fake. Nothing her discussion is related to the test(she will tell you this the first day). grades extremly hard and essay are worse. My class average were 75% and highest grade was an 88%. Total ****.
Good class however Holland makes it hard. You get extra credit if you attend every class no matter what. Her tests are hard. What's covered in class is only about 10% of whats on the exams and the rest is out of the book. So yes you need to buy a book and READ IT!
This class is boring. The teacher is very helpful. She really wants you to succeed. Goto her office and get help while writing your paper! It will help you get an A!
Seems nice in a Kindergarten teacher kind of way. Don't be fooled, she grades very strictly. Low grades on most of the tests, but somehow managed a B...The Feasibility Analysis is ridiculous, get a good group!
Definitely don't let the kindergarten teacher thing fool you...she is a tough grader and her classes are really boring. But it is possible to get an A or B
Nice lady... Tests are straight from the book/study guide she gives you... she only grades hard on grammer when you turn stuff in.
This class is not particularly hard but the material is boring enough to make you slack off. Lots of annoying in-class team assignments and self-assessments. Tough grader. 4 exams, 3rd one being a week before comprehensive final. Holland has an elementary school teaching style that gets under your skin.
I have a B average. But it was the hardest thing to accomplish. Overall, horrible professor. Tests are opinionated and question are poorly written. She teaches the class as if we were in elementary school. Very tough grader on papers because she's an english professor, oh wait she isnt so, her expertise in grading papers is questionable. In my whol
Overall a great teacher. Very nice, gives extra credit for no classes missed. Judges very harsh on papers and presentation though. Clear understanding of what she teaches. Follow along with her study guide and you should do fine.
This class was my most difficult and to think it was just the 1 credit lab portion. Holland's grading is harsh, your grammar needs to be on point or you will lose 10%, which is like a letter grade. Good luck, you'll need it...
She is very hard in grading your grammer and it takes you longer to do all the reports right. Her instructions on the reports are very vague. I wouldn't take her if I had other options. good luck
Made the lab very hard. She hated to give anyone an A. Felt like she took off points for anything of she could not find something wrong. Grammar Nazi. Not impossible but avoid her if you can.
This "professor" is horrible! She only has a Master's degree, and is not going for her doctorate (makes sense because she has no idea how to teach). UCF should be embarassed for having her. Tests are written from the most mundane facts of the textbook having nothing todo with the main objectives. Get ready to work your tail off just to get a B.
Listen, I got an A on every single thing in this class (Entrepreneurship). And I didn't try hard or "work my tail off". Seriously, if you just follow her directions and aren't totally moronic when it comes to spelling words then this class is a JOKE! She's the sweetest lady. Lets you call her cell anytime if you need guidance. Gives extra cred.
This teacher is horrible. Our group worked really hard and gave a great presentation, but she still deducted many points for tiny errors. I spoke to 8 other people after the final, and nobody else came close to my 75. I hope you are good at memorizing random facts, because that is what she tests on. She is one of the 2 worst instructors i've had.
Ya, she made the cornerstone lab way more difficult than it needed to be, don't take her if you have a choice, she seems nice, but she's absolutely not. She grades things worse than my english teacher. DO NOT TAKE!
Class is full of busy work - assignments in WebCourses, the instructor manual (BOTH of them), and the presentations (BOTH of them). This class will consume your soul. The initial instructor manual is really difficult, and creating your learning objectives is even harder. Make sure you pick a good subject to present on, and get in a good group!!!
Terrible Teacher! Attendance is not only mandatory, but every absence over 3 you get penalized 10% of your grade per absence. She forces you to make awkward social interactions during class, as if we can't meet people or "network" on our own. Tests are tricky bc she asks very miniscule details about something specific she may have said in lecture.
Book is 90% of test. You can miss 3 classes and be ok but there are in class assignments every week and if you miss that day you get an F on the assignment. I really enjoyed them though. You can pick your group to create a business and apply the course concepts too. Use alot of the terms when writting the report. Exams are difficult!
Ok, so I love business, but this is the biggest waste of time ever. She doesn't teach at all what the test is on, and she admits it. She would much rather talk about her life. This class is full of idealistic crap that sounds nice, but aside from the guest speakers, most of it is ridiculous. DO NOT TAKE THIS.
Class is easy!! There are a lot of assignments but they are very easy. She is also a very nice lady. Nice foundation and resources if you want to start you're own business.
I love entrepreneurship but this class was a waste of time, take it if you want basic business info and harsh grading (you must go way beyond what she asks for to get a 90 on any assignment/discussion). Tests are ambiguous and useless, you can know every fact and concept from the book and watch all of the lectures and still get a low B on the exams
Had her for cornerstone lab. She is very nice and helpfull. Her grading style leaves a little to be desired.
Had Ms. Holland for How To Start A Business. Interesting Class. Lecture Capture. A few tests, which were fair. Many graded discussions. Must do an interview and create a business idea. Great class.
She is very sweet in class but when it comes to assignments and grading she is harsh. She expects way too much for a 3credit hour class and her tests are ridiculous. She grades extremely harsh. Insane with grammar and don't waste too much time studying, still wont find information that's on the test.
The course was an easy grade, just as long as you completed all assignments. Tests were a little harder than expected but if you complete all assignments it is easy to get a A or B. She grades grammar in all assignments so be prepared...which she has every right to do so...we are in college! She's very sweet and really cares about her students.
The material wasn't difficult but there are way too many assignments (every week) for a 3.0 credit class and webcourse posting is over crowded. This was a lecture capture class so you can watch it on your ipod (that I like). Tests were fair.
Awesome woman. Really cares about teaching you content and making sure you understand. Lots of assignments BUT they aren't hard. Webcourses discussion posting is over crowded and towards the end of the semester grading is very slow. However the class is NOT hard. Definitely interesting class, I recommend :)
She lost her touch. Yeah she's nice, but you will not learn anything in her class, her assignments are a joke. I felt like this class was a waste of time and money, take someone else if you can.
WORST CLASS EVER do not take it if you don't have too. Unreasonably harsh grading and untimely grade redistribution. I don't recommended this class to anyone.
I love the way this class is constructed. Follow the directions & make deadlines you'll do fine! Consists of webcourse discussion posts, 4 exams - drops lowest score, lots of extra credit, a 1 pg paper that is easy. 2 out of 4 exams are taken on webcourses from home. This class is really easy to succeed in! One of my favorite classes at ucf so far!
Training and devlopment was a blast. Ms. Holland is the best and she is the kindest lady out there. Gives you a study guide for each test. No reason for not getting an A! You wont regret taking her.
Easy to follow, well laid out material. Overall good class. Easy to get an A. I personally didn't care for lectures. Too many guest speakers who spend a lot of time telling you nothing useful. Mrs. Holland is a very calm, soft speaker which made it very boring for me.
Prof. Holland says she wants everyone to do well in her class and I believe she is sincere. Her test questions are obscure and I found it difficult to get an A on the tests. Extra credit helps bring your grade up. There are a lot of assignments and moving parts to keep track of. I would not recommend this class unless you have a lot of time.
Very nice teacher. Very easy assignments. Questionable grading. Very compassionate. Gives incentive to come to class. 2 papers, a few graded responses, easy business simulation, and 2 open-note exams taken from home. Drops lowest test grade, and still offers extra credit. All around a really great teacher, and easy A.
Had her for cornerstone lab. shes a great lady and really sweet and willing to help. however the lab is confusing overall and assignments aren't explained very well. she grades tough on grammar on assignments and will quickly take off a crucial point for a misspelled word or bad sentence.
Great Professor, she's definitely my favorite professor and instructor at this University. She only wants the best for her students and if you care enough to get to know her it definitely pays off. She's very supportive in all your efforts you make towards your requirements. Definitely Recommend!
If you take this class expect alot of work and an extremely difficult grading scale for the projects. I worked really hard and still only got a B. Sorry but she gets a thumbs down in my opinion.
Very sweet lady. She was always more than helpful, and provided excellent feedback. No, it's not enough to earn the money for your project. You have to be able to spell and construct coherent sentences. Don't be lazy, or you will be letting yourself and your group down. No worries. Take her!
FANTASTIC professor. She was organized, interesting, and her exams were easy. 2 are take-home and each question literally tells you what page of the book/section the answer is in. If you're happy with your grade before the final you don't have to take it. Watch your grammar on assignments because she's a stickler for it.
This class is okay. But I did not like the professor. She is teamed up with two TAs and they are very picky graders. There instructions are so detailed it makes it almost hard to follow along. There are a lot of assignments with some containing due dates that you may miss. Tests are easy, assignments are pointless.
Very easy if you do all of the assignments EXACTLY as instructed and watch or attend ALL of the lectures. Her test questions involve some things said in lecture. Exams are kind of difficult but if you do good on assignments and do ANY or ALL available extra credit then its an A.
Lectures are long and on Fridays, but I never watched any of them. The only part I would watch was where she was explaining homework assignments. Tests aren't hard, easily searchable in PP and online google book. You may have trouble if you're not a great writer, but even so there's a lot of extra credit.
She takes 1 PERCENTAGE point off for any typos in your papers. I am an excellent writer but made 3 typos in a 20 page assignment and went from a mid to a low A. Went from a B to a C+ because I missed 2 classes. One class I missed because of a schedule mix-up on the first day of class. She gets nervous if you dispute any part of your grades.
Would not recommend this class. I'm on my fifth week and already lost count of how many assignments I've done. Online lectures are really boring. It's just not a class that makes you want to go out there and start your own business. It's really gray.
I wish there were more professors like her at UCF. She is always willing to help during office hours if you need something clarified. The classes involve a lot of group discussions and participation which keeps it interesting. TAKE HER!! Tests aren't bad if you study the study guide!! Group presentation was 20 mins so I hope you like Public Spkng!
Dr. Holland was good, but your assignments are graded by her Graduate Assistants, easy work lots of discussions and opportunities for extra credit. Exams are ok, but she asks questions that are in her lectures so pay attention. the lowest exam is dropped, overall easy class. just remember to do your discussions and follow the best paper examples.
Dont take this class. "A's are for unusually exceptional work." Took this to stay fulltime student, thought it would be an easy A but I was wrong, between technical mistakes and bipolar grading you have to be lucky to get a B in this class, I received 0 credit on two assignments I turned in to some type of technical error. Good info, run poorly
90% of the information on the tests is in the powerpoints, easy class. She reminds me of mother goose, or the perfect grandma. She's really nice and helpful and loves to hear from the students. My only dislike was her test questions were vague and I feel like some of them were trick questions to make up for the easy material.
4 exams - 2 you take from home computer; drops lowest exam grade. Exams are kind of tricky. There are lots of assignments, but if you put in decent effort you will do fine. Even though virtual steaming course, you should watch as some of class discussion is on exams. She genuinely cares for her students. Overall pretty good class.
Anybody complaining about this class is just crazy lazy. This class was more than easy, it was inspirational also. Tests are easy if you just take an hour out to actually read and powerpoint are helpful for anybody wanting to be an entrepreneur or good business person. Take her.
The only terrible part of this class is that the GA's grade the assignments making it difficult at times. Personally, never attendedwatched a lecture and got an easy B in the class with minimal effort. Good grades are attainable, just make sure you're doing the assignments!
This course was incredibly disorganized. The professor did not teach anything in class. What was discussed in class was irrelevant information that had nothing to do with what was in the textbook or on the exams. She is not helpful at all and refuses to help you when you ask a question or criticize her lack of transparency.
this class was pretty easy. there is a lot of busy work / weekly hw assignments but they only take about 30 min each. the tests are passable but have some difficult questions. there was extra credit and a curve at the end. lectures are optional but test questions come from what was said in class. never went and ended with an 85. super nice teacher
