Marchlewski is such a fun teacher! Very funny but strict. She's very dedicated to her students.
simple class,I enjoyed the activities she had us do.
My favorite teacher
She is awesome!! Great teacher really enjoyed the class. She made it super fun! Lots of group sharing! Over all a great teacher!
She is my favorite teacher at Delta. Very funny and sweet. I absolutely love her.
I took this College Composition I class online. There is a lot of writing but it’s somewhat fun because she lets you choose your topics. Overall she is a nice and helpful teacher, my only complaint is that she is slow with posting grades.
Great teacher! She tends to use the projector often and sometimes show videos or articles. Average typed paper length she assigns is between 2-4 pages. As of now, the class isn't finished for the semester yet, but since the start of the current semester (Fall 2014), I have yet to see a testexam being handed to me.
Very helpful, kind, and very caring teacher! I'd definitely recommend her to everyone!
Kathie is by far the best professor I've had. Ever. She's so so so easy going, and her 111 class wasn't too scary! I wrote a few papers, but most of the class was very discussion based, I absolutely loved it. I would recommend her to anyone!!!
She's the coolest teacher ever! Very laid back, down to earth, super cool and hilarious. I'd love to have her again for sure!
Kathie is super funny and a nice person. She talked a lot about racism, which was very annoying to me because. Overall, it was an easy class just annoying at times because I thought she talked a lot about irrelevant things. Easy A, I would definitely recommend.
Nice person at heart, but is very disorganized. I have not had an English course in over ten years and I expected more. Most students would think that it's great that we only had two papers, but for me I needed the writing practice. We also purchased a book we used for only two weeks.
She's amazing and very understanding and helpful. She has a bubbly personality. You have you put rough drafts on board in front of class but it isn't nearly as bad as it sounds. Id take her course over again.
If you want an easy A its not that tough. Show up and do what you are asked. We do two papers, one having 7 drafts. Not too bad. She says that if you miss 4 times you will be kicked out but after the third week she doesn't take attendance. One girl missed five-six times without getting kicked. Do what is asked, you get a good grade.
She is a great teacher and as long as you attend class you should do good! You do some reading and reading logs on the books you read and have a couple essays. You do show your work in front of the class as you are going but it is very helpful! She is a sweet person and willing to help!
She truly cares about the student, is passionate about her job. She may get distracted by class conversation but it didn't affect the class at all.
Pretty relaxed teacher
She tries to seem tough on the first day but she's very understanding. I took the summer class so of course everything was accelerated and it seemed like a decent amount of work but not overwhelming. Overall I'm glad I choose her for my eng112 course and would do it again.
Made a big deal about how attendance was mandatory and you only had one skip available, but kids in my class wouldn't show up for weeks and she never dropped them. Very easy to talk to, and it is easy to get her off track. Super easy writing assignments. Definitely need the books required.
I loved her class! Best English Professor ever!
As long as you keep on top of any assigned work, you should do fine with Kathie. She is not super strict and lets you know what she's looking for when she grades (e.g. don't turn in a paper full of typos, try to meet the word/page count, etc., the usual stuff).
Marchlewski is one of the best professors. She makes writing papers very easy. She's very helping when it comes to not understanding something or having issues on an assignment. Only can miss class a few times or you'll get dropped. Gets off topic sometimes. Class is a laid back class and not stressful unless you make it. Doesn't take late work!
Kathie is always a sunshine soul. She makes the class fun. You will read a book write some papers. She makes you learn how to do a few drafts. :) love her
I love Kathie, she is amazing and I would recommended her to everyone.
Kathie was an amazing professor. She is really different and has views that you would be hesitant to talk about. Very caring. Read the book and do the writing on time and you will get an A.
For a 3-hour class, majority of the discussion we did was off topic and the rest of class that was actually pertinent was about an hour and a half. She talked about subjects that were thought provoking and would sometimes let us out early. Pretty lenient on due dates but would often call people up to show paper in front of the class and critique it
One paper that no specific criteria was given (ex: "what was your reaction to...") that was marked down for not giving specific info. If specific info is needed it should be on a ruberic. Also, used resources provided for citations and was marked down saying incorrect. Emailed with questions to ensure understanding and was never responded to.
She's very rude.
A great professor who is clear and easy to understand.
Grade pretty leniently. Her class is set up to be more learning-based and less based on grades.
She will fail you on what she things is cliches in your paper. Love the person hate the teacher was very disappointed in the fact that she doesn't even really read the paper just looks for things wrong
A little frazzled and slow when it comes to her online class(es). She seems very busy with her course load and doesn't pay much attention to her online courses. She posts what we're expected to do once a week, then disappears for the week. Texting is the easiest way to get in contact with her, otherwise you're left waiting. Too much peer reviewing.
Lets just say that if you are looking for an online class, DO NOT make it this one. The first half of the semester is based entirely off of a book that helps almost none. There are extraneous amounts of work for it and almost nothing comes out of it. My AP ENG 11 class taught me way more than this ever did. Extremely disappointed. Good luck!
Fun class. A lot of work, but I definitely improved as a writer.
Just started this class but have been excited to go every time! Also had problems with registration but Kathie was willing to help.
In my second class with her. She seems intimidating at first, but really loves and helps her students.
Kathie is amazing and always available for help.
In my opinion, Kathie is hilarious. She is very blunt. However, she is very unorganized. As far as papers go, there isn't really a set outline which I struggled with. She also makes you read a book and take quizzes on it and write reading responses. I struggled immensely with this.
Kathie is very blunt, but hilarious. She definitely wants her students to pass and will help you with anything you need. She is very personable and relates to you at the personal level. If you read the books you will pass.
Truly wants her students to succeed. Lets you text her with questions and answers immediately. Funny, but serious.
She is not a tough grader, but she gives many assignments each week and can be rude sometimes. She's very mediocre. Half of the semester was based on a book that I found useless and boring. I think this class would have been better if taken in person.
Kathie is a wonderful professor. She really cares about her students and she goes out of her way to make sure that everyone has a fair chance. There are three major papers in this class, and each one you spend a few weeks on. There were a few times where the work seemed never-ending, but she is fair as long as you communicate with her.
Kathie is more accessible than any online professor I have had. She lets you text her and responds quickly. We had Google meets rooms which was fun and a good chance to meet people.
I absolutely love her and her class. She gives a voice for creativity in writing!
She replies back to questions very quickly. If you are worried about online class, take her.
Absolutely loved kathie. Never met her was strictly on line but I felt like I knew her. She posted weekly videos with instruction plus gave great "road maps" she answered text messages immediately and called personally on the phone. I'm signed up for another class with her in the fall. Can't wait!
Great class even online.
I learned how to persuade people by using the right words and tone with research. I am better at arguing!
Good class. Will take her for the next one.
This class was right up my alley and Professor Marchlewski was absolutely wonderful. A lot of reading and writing is expected, but those are things that I love to do anyway! She has a great attitude and is so helpful!! She is professional, but brings a lot of humor into her class.
This is a great class. Kathie is interesting and funny and will help you anytime.
Great instructor. She has a sense of humor and is easy to talk to. Will answer texts whenever needed. Has a overall cheerful, approachable and sociable disposition. She definitely likes what she teaches which makes the difference with instructors. A lot of reading and writing but that is to be expected in an English class. Gives great feedback.
She was the best teacher I ever had. Clear on what is going on and I have never left confused in her class. She gives good feedback and is easy to talk to. I will say she does have you read your papers in front of the class. However, it's not bad and I actually enjoyed it because it lets you have good feed back from her and your classmates. 10/10
I never got bored once during this class. Kathie is upbeat and interesting and very helpful. She truly cares about her students and wants to see them succeed.
This was an online course, but I felt like I knew the instructor. I loved all of the assignments and the discussions even though they were not in-person.
Kathie was one of the best professors I've had yet. She not only cares about her students success, she cares for her students well being. We read a great book in her class that hopefully will change the views of students to be more open. I can't talk highly enough about Kathie! She also replies to her messages within the day, and is extremely clear
Kathie is very knowledgeable and caring. There is a lot of reading and writing, which is expected in an English class. I felt like I was able to write freely, which was refreshing. She gave great feedback. What I like most was that she made herself available to students via text message and replied quickly.
Kathie was so, so helpful. I had some issues outside of class and I always knew I could come to her for help. She's a very sweet and kind person and you can tell she loves what she does. I would take many more classes with her if I could.
she expected too much from one subject like you dont think we aint going to have the same paper!
Great person, but she's a superfast talker, all over the place, very confusing, and cuts herself off mid-sentence. She's a good professor, but when she gets going, her train of thought derails entire sessions. I sometimes didn't know what was due when until I checked our D2L page, which is frustrating since she doesn't always remember to update it.
Class started out good, she always gave clear instructions and expectations. Graded fairly kindly, and was good at revising our work. Towards the end of the semester she began to heavily share her political opinion and take up class time. Class always started late and usually took up our work time by talking about unrelated subjects.
Kathie is great and you don't write many papers! I am a very anxiety heavy when it comes to talking infront of the class because she does ask you to. But, if you say no she doesn't make you. I told her no all semester and she even tried to kinda guilt me into doing it but never made me uncomfortable about it! Easy homework and papers!
She is very understanding if something comes up and treats you like a human, not a child. She helps you work through the writing process and learn new tools. Doesn't shove a million papers down your throat. Her lectures were interactive, and she would check base with the class to make sure everyone understood.
Kathie was amazing. Very easy to get ahold of out of class and was always willing to help. Wrote a few papers but she put step by step instruction and did one on one evaluation so it was very easy to stay on task and get an A. I would love to have her class again.
Very funny and caring person, however, we don't use the book until the week before spring break. Last semester I used APA format and this semester we use MLA format so switching from APA to MLA was super hard. She grades very tough no matter what assignment is given and makes us do a bunch of partner work including reading our papers to each other.
I have taken Kathie for both English 111 and 112. Her and I have built an amazing relationship and she has offered me many outside of class activities to better myself and my future career. Assignments are always very clear with clear criteria, she is a very easy grader. I love Kathie so much, super understanding, best classes I have taken by far.
Kathie's class was very easy in terms of actual work, but you really learn a lot. She brings up politics a lot, but she respects everyone's opinion.
One of the best professors at Delta. Although she gives a heavier amount of homework, she is really flexible about deadlines and mostly prioritizes just getting the homework done. Very encouraging in class, and has fun lectures rather than her just speaking to us for 3 hours. Had her for both ENG111 and ENG112 and I loved both classes!
Kathie was great! At first, I wasn't sure how I felt because she gave out a lot of work, but she is funny and is always there to help if you need it. I usually get A's in English and received a B only because I didn't put in full effort. You definitely have to work for the grade, but it's worth it!
I had her for both ENG111 and ENG112 and I really liked her! She had lectures that were fun and discussion-based so we all could learn the material better and we did a lot of proofreading together as a class. We did read one book each semester and took a couple of quizzes on them, but it'll be easy as long as you stay consistent with reading.
Class started off cool then fastly declined. Assigned a book with too much of a political tone for an English class then wanted us to use skills from the book to write a paper. She expected a lot for the final paper and graded it harshly. She really anticipated too much for the course especially for a one that's at a small community college.
Sweet woman, super enthusiastic about all sorts of English. Gives a lot of homework but it's all relevant to the course material. I found her to be a nice teacher. I took ENG221, short stories, it wasn't on the listed courses lol
Kathie is an amazing professor! She did get off topic often, but it was easy to succeed in her class. She grades very fairly and timely and met individually with each student on every paper for feedback. Kathie did encourage participation, but it was always helpful in getting feedback on essays. Would recommend over other English professors!
I love this woman. She is so sweet and kind. I went through a loss earlier this year and she was so understanding and told me to turn in what I needed, even if it was late. I struggled because I didn't reach out enough, but if you reach out you will have no problem because she is an amazing teacher.
She was honestly one of the best professors I've ever had. She is very kind and caring. She wants her students to succeed and gives great feedback on projects. She does assign a book to read which can be controversial and hard to read, but it is a good book to read at certain parts.
I had Kathie for ENG 111&112. 2 papers to write in 111& 112, they take up the majority of your grade. I quickly developed a good relationship with her, she is very laid back and genuinely cares about all of her students. I would definitely recommend taking her in person, she makes it a fun and interesting environment.
She had a book for us to read and do writing prompts which I found interesting. I loved the book and her teaching. She gave audio feedback on each assignment that was very helpful. I will be taking her again for ENG112. She is good, she responds to questions, the work is manageable, and grading doesn't take long.
Taking Kathie again for 112. She is pretty easy for an English class. I love the way she breaks down material and doesn't throw everything at you at once. She is a fair grader. Provides rubrics with expectation for the essays.
She was very detailed, had video's weekly going in depth of what was due. There was a book that was full of writing prompts, I enjoyed this class and her. She gave feedback on everything. I wrote 2 papers in this class and many 10-minute writing prompts. Taking her again for ENG112.
She is supportive and sweet, but also expects you to work hard. I really upped my writing game in this class, which was easy and fun. It was online, but she gives a lot of audio feedback and makes videos each week so she is very involved in teaching. I felt like I knew her. She lets you text her and is always available to help.
She is one of the best teachers I have ever had, very lenient about grading and due dates. Very understanding and her videos help explain so much about what we are doing. She gives very good feedback on assignments to help you get better further on.
I took Kathie's class my first year as a dual enrolled student. She was very considerate of that. Kathie is so nice and caring. She's so funny and gives great feedback and is very easy to reach outside of class. Her class was very easy to me. Kathie also will have conversations with you about your life outside of class, and she really cares.
Professor Kathie was amazing! Her online class almost felt like it was in person, as her weekly videos were so helpful. Her enthusiasm & passion for the subject matter was evident each week! And her sincere offer to be available for her students is genuine. Her feedback on our drafts was thorough and helpful as our class worked on our final paper.
The best online instructor I've ever had. I've never had a professor spend so much individual time (recordings) with students. She is great and I learned a lot.
Very good class.
I had to drop this class, unfortunately. I will take it again in the fall. She is great! It is nice to have an online professor interacting with you and available for help.
I really liked Kathie and would take her class again. I learned a lot from English 112. She was very caring and encouraged mutual respect, she also gave a lot of feedback. I believe she truly cares about her students education.
Great class and we read a good useful book. I hate doing online classes, but wanted to get this one over with. This teacher gets back with you for questions and reviews your papers with you.
Easy communication. You know this professor is working with you instead of using a set-up online platform. When you contact her she replies immediately.
I had Kathie for 111 and 112 this spring and summer. I wish I could take one of her classes again in the fall. I've never been a big writer, but I enjoyed doing the projects and writing.
Her responses were sometimes rude. I did not receive much helpful feedback. She once wrote, "ugh no" as feedback for an assignment. We read a book that made it feel more like a poli-sci class than an English class. Then we wrote a paper about micro-issues and I had to change my topic 3 times because she said the issues "aren't local enough."
I couldn't fit an in person class into my schedule and was afraid to take English online. Professor Kathie is very available to students and you feel like you are working with an actual person and not just a screen. I really liked this class even though I was sure I wouldn't. We did projects that will actually help us later in life.
