Has severe problems teaching. Is allover the place, can not follow. No idea what's going to be on test. Worst of all. Tries to be like Dennis Miller. Ultra Unfuuny, we're talking mid 90's or this year's SNL Unfunny. Painful to watch.
You can see the confusion in her lectures. Even she does not know how to organize her speaking. Very wry. Reminds me of the Clear Eyes commercials. Fairly easy to get a good grade in the class.
She is extremely unorganized in her lectures and doesn't know how to prepare study guides. She only throws out words.Jumps from one topic front another. Very hard to follow!!!
Need to go to class, don't need to read for a B.
I do agree she trys way to hard to be funny, and in a 3 hour class you have a pretty tough crowd. I got a B with minimal effort. She's a lot cooler then most teachers though!
Very hard to follow- puts too many huge topics on her test, and doesn't help prepare adequately.
Great person, not very organized however. Speak up in class, if she gets to know you, and you try hard she will like you. I got an A but studied my butt off. take notes or you wont pass the tests.
Somewhat of an easy class. Pay attention on lecture and do the map excercises(easy 20pts). If you at least pay attention and briefly look over book, you'll pass. Sometimes a bit crabby. Just take good notes and your gauranteed a B+.
She is unorganized but that won't effect you, makes the lectures funny, partially read and GO TO CLASS AND MAKE HER KNOW YOU and you'll be fine, tried hard enough and got an A.
She is an awesome professor! She always added the personal life of each queen and king that ruled in the 16th century or whenever. I am having her right now during the summer. Importantly you attend the class, then you will be fine.
oh mon, this lady has an alright personality but she a mess when it comes to lecturing--unorganize! if your a meathead or have trouble sitting through lectures--don't take her.
Very good professor. If you attend + participate in class discussions, you will be fine. ^ Ignore all negative comments about her.
What a joke. Main problem is she looks for details but tells you she doesn't need the details. Very unorganized and unattentive. Does not combine readings and lectures properly. Too much reading on uncovered material.
An okay professor except she's too caught up in the whole history thing. Very organzied, isn't clear on material at times, and makes exams really tough. Requires too much information to remember and teaches course like an upper division course.
Well she's a nice lady as a person. I just don't think she's clear enough on what she wants us to do. Unless you are very good at history it's not easy to get a good grade from her. Just try...
I don't like how she teaches. It was hard to really get in tuned with her class. I couldn't understand her lectures. She'd use her laptop to help us write notes, but she just jots down names n thats not so helpful. she's boring.

Awesome professor...knows the subject well...she offers to help if you need it...lectures are very helpful for tests.
SHOW up to class, TAKE NOTES well and everything she says in class, and you will do just fine on the tests....BUT TAKE NOTES!!! Shes helpful and clear to understand as well!
excellent teacher if you're history major or enthusiast. has a personality and isn't afraid to show it. just read, take notes, may be strict and harsh sometimes though.
DONT NOT TAKE HER!!! unless u are a history major take her. Its suppose to be lower division and doesnt seem like it!
For History majors, she is one of the best since she's laid-back and you can actually have a laugh in her lectures. She covers all the reading in her lectures, so study your notes for exams. Also assigns one book review- but you have the whole semester to do it.
Ok so this professor thinks she knows EVERYTHING! Not just with Histor related things, but with everything in life. She runs through things to fast and expects us to treat a 151 class, as an upper division class.Dont ask questions in class;she most likey will embarrass you!!!
Great class. Loved the subject and she seemed to know what she was talking about. Very laid back for a 400 lvl class. Had a midterm Final and book review. I sugesst it
She is very arrogant and rude. She dresses like a slob and makes stupid noises while she is sitting there. That makes it very hard to focus. She seemed to enjoy belittling students. She would also spread her political views in class when it doesn't have anything to do with the material. She sucks
If u r History major Addison is great, u will learn a lot, and be able to express yourself freely, not that easy but if u participate you can pull easy B!

Very clear lectures and assignments. She is passionate about Russian History. Easy A if u do the readings. I highly recommand to history students.
sucks
Whatever you do---do NOT pick the multiple choice option...she says that essays do better, but we don't believe her until it's too late and you find out that essay is 50% higher score! I expected this 100 level class to be much easier that my 400 level classes--it was the harder!!! OK if a hist major, but try to avoid if not a hist major.
this class is very hard, but addison really knows her stuff. she is smart, articulate, and funny. however, the class does require tons of work. do the essays on tests and read the book and you'll be fine. she will teach you a lot.
She is the hardest professor. no one knows what she talks about during her lectures and her exams are like 8 chapters each. Its to much work for a G.E. Even the extra credit assignments or class assignments she's not clear at all. She has no sympothy and will fail as many as she can. Don't take her ..too hard..I got A's on all my classes except her
HORRIBLE! She wasn't orginized and didn't finish her schedule of lectures completely, this didn't even stop her from putting those chapters on the test. She seemed to love torturing her students with her hard grading and teasing us in class. Do't take her, this is advice you would want to follow.
She is NOT organized with lecture notes therefore she does not give good lectures. She doesn't seem very friendly and students are afraid to ask for help. There is a negative feeling in her class. You might not want to take her.
I took the multiple choice at first and fail. If you have to take care do the essay instead. however, if you study you should be able to get an easy A. i failed my first test and A's the last two and gave me a B.

A little bit unorganized, but really knows her stuff, i would highly suggest to every history major
Just started soooooooo..not to sure! seems cool
If your a history major then i recommend you take her. those who dont appreciate history will have a hard time understanding her or the material.
Way too much to read but overall not a hard class.
She is the coolest teacher. i took her at Pierce for 270/151 and as long as you listen to her lectures and do the ESSAY, you'll get an A. She is real funny sarcastic and sometimes she'll call on you (if she likes or really hates you). She reads this stuff and comments on ppls comments in class. It's funny
My oh my, you people are idiots. Do your reading, study for her tests and there will be no surprises. If you are afraid to ask for her help then maybe seek therapy, there is a good counseling dept on campus. This is a university, should you be taking scantron tests anyways? Would you like her to come to your house and give you the test, maybe even help you with the answers? maybe just ask her to change your grade because you are pretty or a jock? Here is an idea, know your material and do well on the test!
With this professor, you are in for long lectures. She takes FOREVER to get exams back. She is super lazy. Don't do multiple choice, choose to do her essay exam. Even on her essay exam, there is an additional section that you have to write on 5 items she lists. I always attended class and I had no idea what the items were that she listed. No good!
I thought she was incredibly easy lol. She's not as bad as everyone's making her out to be. As long as you pay attention to what she says and DO THE ESSAY!!! As a matter of fact you really dont even have to read the books lol. Come to each class lecture and you could pass the class lol. I found her to be very sarcastic but funny as hell lmao.
Prof. Addison is great! Do the readings and participate in class and you'll do fine. She has a great sense of humor and expresses interest in the students topics for papers. I'll definately be taking her for 497, hopefully she'll teach it next fall.
Ms.ADDISON IS A GANGSTA!!!! if shes reading this, then she knows who's writing it. Dudes, all you gotta do, is show up, participate, and do the reading ( which is alot, and can get a little boring ) but still, who the hell thinks they can go to a history class and not read? besides that shes funny and like i said, shes a GANGSTA!
This teacher is the bomb! You have to take her. She has a great sense of humour, participate in class and the class gets even more fun! I didnt do that much of the reading but I took notes in class (they are better than the book) and make more sense to you! I will definately take her again! She loves diet pepsi :) TAKE HER SHES THE BEST
Professor Addisson is Gangsta! SHe makes the class fly by and has a great sense of humor. I wish all my professors had the same sense of humor she has. Anybody who is lazy and does not want to study or do work can whine and whine, but remember that you are in college and college requires work! Avoid Professor Sefton and taker her instead.
3 tips for success: Take the class seriously, do your reading and start your term paper early. Also, be absolutely sure to properly and fully cite your sources; she has absolutely no tolerance for mediocre end-notes (nor should she; this is after all a junior-level history class). Her lectures are very entertaining, so class-time flies by.

haha (Addison reads these comments) I think she was awesome. I had her at peirce over the summer. Her lecture notes will get you an A in the class. Just pay attention and you are practically there. She does pick on certain people. But really cool gal!
Very intersteing and fun, easy class if you know what's important
Very hard!!! Wouldn't recommend it for a G. E. class. Her lectures are very unclear, thus you can't take good notes. Too much reading!!!
Expects works to be done. Has a little trouble with clarity, But very easy going atmosphere. She never held us for the entire 2:40 min class. 4 easy assignments, 3 short presentations, read a couple of books and write 1 15pg paper on any subject related to history. Sounds like alot but trust me, cake walk.
She is the worse teacher ever....don't take this class ...if you have to take this class take it with Dr. Vatai...he is good...!
She the teacher for history buffs of any type. knows alot about everything.
THIS LADY HAS A LOT OF KNOWLEDGE ON HISTORY HOWEVER SHE IS EXTREMELY BORING AND THERE IS TOO MUCH READING. SHE DOESN'T DO MAKE UPS. ITS HARD TO KEEP UP WITH HER LECTURES AND NOTE TAKING.HONESTLY I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HER AT ALL!! LOOK UP OTHER PROFESSORS FOR HISTORY INSTEAD
Shes not super easy, but shes fair. She'll tell you what you need to know. And she doesnt grade super hard
Prof. Addison is a wicked sweet professor!
Yes, it's a lot of work, but basically what you'd expect. You must do the reading or your dead. even if you don't hold long discussions, she will put it on the test. she's not kidding when she says do the essay. Ask about her dogs.
She REALLY knows her history and can answer just about any question you have, but there are two caveats: she's extremely lazy (grading papers takes forever for her, she never met her promises of posting assignments or lecturing in a timely manner, missed two classes out of twelve in summer session), and her test questions will often surprise you.
Her lectures are very engaging and she's so fun to listen to. Discussions are very stimulating. She knows so much and is very helpful. I was scared of her on the first day because she's pretty intense but don't worry, she won't bite.
Not a very clear teacher. She never stops talking and you don't know what exactly is important. She says she's all about the big picture of history and not to worry about specific facts but her tests are all about the specific facts. Don't buy the text cuz she uses the complete idiot's guide to european history, if you buy that you'll be fine.
So far, This has been a somwhat weird class, I am not sure what to make of it. I do feel like there is a bit of lazyness by the teacher, but - If you are a good student, then you have to take an interest in your own grade and work..... The Jury is still out on this one for me. She is a cool person, for sure.
She creates a relaxed atmosphere and is very funny. Enjoyed her class and learned all about Russia, which is why I took her class. She really knows her Russian history.
Great class..... I was grateful that I had Addision for this class..... I thought we should have spent more time in class, becasue I stumbled in the dark with historical research and such... but all in all - Awesome for me............
She tells history as if it was a soap opera. Fun to listen to, but impossible to take comprehensive or coherent notes. DO NOT TAKE THE MULTIPLE CHOICE!!!!! take the essay. She doesn't give you a clear sense of what to study.
She tells history like a story, rather than a series of dates to memorize. If you take notes from her lecture, you don't even have to read the book to do well in her class. She makes the class very interesting to learn!
I loved her class. She's really funny and creates a relaxing atmosphere. I didn't read the textbook and got an A. Show up and take notes! And: DO THE ESSAY!
She is not a helpful teacher at all. Had her for summer section and was always late. Leaves class and never comes back. Take the essay.
You either love her or hate her. For me she was great and I wish I could take every class with her. Best part is that she tells History like it should be. In one easy steady flow, where a cause leads to an effect and thus becomes the new cause of another effect. Knows her Euro Hist. A little un-organized. Take her once to see what she's about.
I would not recommend her. Her lectures are not very clear and it really is difficult to take notes in her class. She is very lazy and disorganized. She takes off her shoes while she's lecturing...ew...
Don't even bother reading other comments. She's greats and that's it.Learning that load of stuff is never easy, but she definitely helps: NO homework, NO mandatory attendance, and the pre-quiz assignments are just so we can memorize better. Easy to get good grades if you take the essay quiz. Plus she's cool and down to earth.I like it!
Her lectures are boring and not well organized, she takes forever to hand back work, and she never responds to email. If you want to really learn about history, stay clear!
She's an OK teacher. Lectures are not as clear but she takes FOREVER grading tests and assignments or she forgets them at home. You just have to know how to take her. Essays are the smarter choice when taking a quiz.
She comes off as a very intimidating teacher, but she is pretty good. Be sure to do all the reading, if your class stays on her good side, she will go easier on you. She gives interesting lectures, but I would only recommend her to history majors. The main textbook is bad, I would seek out another textbook to read along with the lectures
she's funny and gives interesting lectures but you HAVE TO do the reading in order to complete the assignments, and she questions the class about the reading before she lectures on the topic. Fairly easy throughout the semester then she assigned two papers and a final with only one week notice. She never handed back papers and I doubt she reads them
She kept me pretty entertained. She has a very dry, bitter sense of humor and she hates christmas and loves halloween. She lectures everyday but she makes it interesting. There are like 3 tests and for each test you have a rather long assignment... easy stuff tho, just vocab and essay questions. the test is (r choice) multiple choice or essay.
Ok, Addison is completely disorganized, doesn't keep up her part as a professor, cancels class all the time, but she is frickin' HILARIOUS! Ok, she seems just as miserable to be there as most of the students, and that's what makes her great! She is an easy grader, I didn't read any of the main text book, and got an A. Figure her out, get the A.
She is very disorganized, but her lectures are fabulous. Very interesting and knows what she is talking about. Would recommend and take again. Never takes role. Very interesting professor.
Professor Addison is a great teacher. I'm really not sure why she gets such a bad rap. Her lectures are fantastic. This semester, she came in to replace another teacher. She did a good job at organizing the class. The final was difficult, but it should be expected. You're in college!
She is a kool kat. She's witty and knows her stuff. Her books were surprisingly tolerable for a survey class. She also doesn't baby the class by giving the exact questions on the study guide. You will have to think. I recommend her.
Prof. Powelson is very knowledgeable and very straghtforward in what she expects: do the reading and be able to discuss it in class, and do a solid paper that goes beyond the course texts. She does not suffer fools gladly.
the best!!!!!!!!!!!
Prof. Addison is very clear about what she expects from the class: do the reading and be able to discuss it in class; then do a solid paper that goes beyond the course texts.
KA rocks - no two ways about it. If you are not prepared or just plain stupid, she will definitely go to town on you, but if you are interested and do the work, she really does care. And she is just friggin hilarious.
AMAZING class, AMAZING professor. Very funny, very witty, great comedic timing. I had her at 9 am but I wanted to wake up for this class. She tells you up front what's what. Take the ESSAY option, waaay esaiser than test! Deffff great professor, TAKE HER.
Addison is a very nice lady. Her lectures are very good. You can tell she knows her subject. But, she doesn't answer emails. Ask the questions you need to ask in class - you won't get a response via email. I would take her again. Midterm, 1 book review and final. Not a hard class at all. Getting ahold of her is the difficult part.
Oh please. Just read everything she tells you to, and be able to discuss in class. Write solid papers-don't fake it or buy it. Don't get upset when she cancels class - She has a great sense of humor, you can learn a lot just give her a chance.
Good, interesting lectures, good sense of humor. She does have an organizational problem, I didn't get my midterm back until the final week of classes (no joke). Overall, good professor.
She is easily distracted and gets off topic, this makes her lectures confusing. She reads from the book, plays favorites and if your not one of them too bad for you. I suggest you read the text book and take notes on it. For the essays, focus on the topic and don't include any information except for what she asks about.
your new to csun and couldn't enroll in the class, and that makes her incompetent?? I'm a history major and took a couple of classes with her, and she's great. She does expect you to read, work and think, so clearly this guy below wouldn't make it.
Don't know what happened to this teacher. I guess she wasn't asked to come back after Spring next year 2010 so she has basically given up. You go to class and listen to stories about history...can't really take notes. Get the book! Book=your friend. I taught myself everything I needed to know from the book. She is easily distracted and unorganized.
DON'T TAKE!!! I don't know how she is in her other classes but she is really bad. She seems to have given up on teaching. Doesn't answer emails, when she does she's rude and not helpful! Always late, cancelled class a lot...always with some BS excuse. Good luck getting your tests back...one time she brought the wrong class to us. Waste of time/$$!
Although I got an A-, for more than half the semester I didn't know my grade. The midterm was given back to us on the last day of class, so we were waiting for about 2 months or so. Recommend doing essays for her exams since she grades them better than the multi choice. Overall, the class is pretty easy just make sure you know your grade!
When she WOULD teach, she really knew her stuff and was interesting.. the problem is she'd cancel class all the time at the last minute and never passed back work/tests.
She really knows her history. I actually enjoy her lectures, she makes a Saturday class interesting. I never read, though, but I got a B+ on the midterm.
Very disappointed the first day I had her. Very disorganized and randomly cancels class and makes everything difficult. I highly do not recommend this teacher!
This teacher is fantastic, a lot of fun, I have already registered for another class with her! I learned a lot! my favorite class.
What a great teacher! She is so witty and smart! I will take all of her classes! She is the best!
This is absolutely my favorite professor! She is very witty and smart. She knows her subject very well. I will take all her classes! She is simply the best!
This was a great class. I really learned a lot!
This teacher is sooo funny! I loved going to this class and all the lectured were really interesting. She makes the lectures modern. Tends to go off on tangents but the tests are so easy. Barely gave any effort and I got an A.
I love this Professor! She has a great sense of humor, her lectures are very interesting, and she has a unique teaching style. Take her if you can and if you want to actually learn something.
Smart, witty, loves history and tells it as a story. Great teacher.
she's one of those college profs who is laid back and earned her right to. very knowledgable and engaging. always adds humor which makes things interesting and not stagnate. since this class is about writing a hardcore 15 page research paper, she doesn't overload you hw. of the hw she does give its short and gets the point across. take her for 301!
You can get most of what you want from the book. But when she lectures it is usually something that is not covered in the book and you can rest assured that it will be on the test. Stay off Wikipedia! it is fraught with misinformation.
LOVED HER!!! I had her at Pierce College for Women in History. She was so knowlegeable and best yet she didnt take any crap from the group of immature boys sitting in the back! I learned a ton and it has really helped me in other classes.
All-around okay teacher. Gives out questions to the mid-term and final but is strict when it comes to the essays. A bit goofy.
Her lectures have a lot of information and can be pretty tough to follow (bring laptop). Be sure to skim the reading so you can understand what she's talking about. One midterm, two essays (4pg and 7-10pg), take home final. She's quite a character!
The class consisted of 4 exams. drops the lowest 1. out of the 4 exams 1 of them must be a essay. there are also 3 hmwrk assignments. the 4th is xtra credit. lectures are easy to understand. pple complain because they didnt do the reading. history is hard to lecture because its massive. you have to read and get the other lecture from it. got a A.
She is NOT a good professor. There is no motivation to go to any of her classes because her lectures have absolutely nothing to do with the readings. The only people that pass are the history majors in the class. Definitely would not take her for History 110.
She's great, basically she gives you everything you need to get a good grade. If you use it you will do well, no question!
She doesn't help prepare you for anything on the tests. Most test questions aren't in the book at all. Her lectures are pretty much useless, read everything in the book if you want a shot at getting a decent grade. I would recommend trying to get a different teacher if you need this class.
She is really a cool teacher. She is so laid back she hardly gives any work all you gotta do is read this long textbook. There are 3 essays. 1 midterm in class, 10 pg term paper, and take home final. She grades kind of harsh on them. But the class is really cool.
Not a lot of work compared to most upper level courses but, assignments do require a detailed analysis. Read the books. Don't expect your work back until the end of the semester. Good class for History majors.
She is a very funny person, and she is always a ton of fun to talk to. However, she is not organized, the lectures are useless, and everyone is completely lost in the wilderness. There is a midterm, 10 page paper, and final. Don't expect to receive your grades during the semester or long after.
She is funny and I enjoyed her lectures. Grading-wise, however, she is extremely frustrating. Didn't get back our midterm grades until the day of the final, and her class is the last one I'm still waiting to receive my grade for. Good class for history majors, but be prepared to go through the semester without getting any grades back.
I usually don't make comments about my professors, as a matter of fact this is my first time using this site or ever rating a professor. Never got any papers back, she never knew my name or even cared. Final graded paper without critique or grade, don't even know what grade I received. Got a B the class but don't know how I could have improved.
Avoid this terrible professor. She gives out no study guides for her exams. Surprises students with in class writing assignments.
A wonderful professor dedicated to history. Her presentation, humor, and attitude are all a little dark and she is down-to-earth. She draws attention to some of the more unique events in post-Renaissance Western culture. Read the book and really pay attention in class and you will come away with more than you had coming in.
I have never used this site, but she was so terrible I had to. I haven't learned a thing. Her lectures are random and disorderly, the test have questions we never went over. The power points are useless. Worst professor I have ever had
She does not post or give back papers at the same time. Everyone gets them at different times. I still have not gotten my assignment one or 2 or the score of my second exam. She gets off topic but as long as you pay attention to the lectures and stugy guides you should be fine. Overall I would not take another class would her but she wasn't so bad.
I took her night class and while she doesnt give back papers rigth away, I like her. She is pretty funny and will bring up random stuff but will aways get ght back down to buisness. As a history teacher she is pretty good. Do the reading and you should be fine. If you want your assignments graded and handed back right away, not the teacher for you
I dont understand why so many people are complaining. I took her HIst 150 Western Civ. and she wasn't the best teacher but not this terrible. Yes her lectures can be boring and she doesn't give grades or assignments back until the end but as long as you read and take notes how can you not pass. Got A's in all the test but one. Overall she is decent
At first I liked her. She is very knowledgeable and clearly an expert in her field. However, that does not mean she teaches the material well. Her lectures are all over the place, her Powerpoints are not very helpful for studying, nor are the study guides since she doesn't really stick to them on the exams. Her attitude is pretty terrible too.
Although she is funny, approachable, and knowledgeable about the subject she is not that great of an educator. Her lectures are all over the place. Due to this, It is extremely hard to take notes in her class. Despite my love in this field I would never take another class with her (I recommend the same). Note: She returns work at end of semester.
She may be funny but she is not that great of a professor. She lectures at a pretty slow pace and does not keep up with the syllabus at all. Her lectures are all jumbled up and we need some of the lectures so we can do the assignments to pass our exams. She may be interactive, but her personality and her lectures are all out of place.
Pros: She knows the material Cons: There's no textbook which means she assigns articles which are hard to find. She does not respond to emails Her lectures are all over the place and it's impossible to take notes. There's no textbook, so she assigned articles which are difficult to access. She cancels class a lot.
Makes the lectures interesting with her sense of humor. Readings are what she gives on Moodle, no textbook whatsoever. Easy grader, just read at least a third of the assignments before the midterm & final to pass - just requires memorization, but she lets you use a small notecard! - and a research paper. I was there from 4-645pm, no regrets.
Honestly, she is far from clear when it comes to her lectures. She gets off topic very so often which makes it very difficult to takes notes. When you go for help during office hours she isn't helpful at all and makes you feel really dumb when you ask for help. She isn't approachable either
She is a funny person but not a great professor. Sure, she knows her stuff about history but it's almost as if she expects her students to be at her level too. She gives two midterms both 5 paragraph format, one final. She gives a really vague study guide so you technically have to memorize the entire book.
Not a good professor. She does not care about her students and takes a really long time to grade papers- she even lost a bunch of midterms! You most likely will not get any papers back and she submitted grades 2 days after the deadline! She is extremely disorganized and her lectures are all over the place. She is kind of rude too, do NOT take her
Cool professor. She assigns five books but you really only have to read the main text. Lectures are boring but they help supplement the text. Grade consists of a midtermpaper and a final. If you do the midterm, you don't have to do the paper and vice versa. She gave a list of possible questions a week before the final. Read and you'll do fine.
I had her for Spring 2014 and I do not like this professor at all. Her lectures do not match up with the readings that we do and are more intended for a major in that field. She makes a big deal when students leave her class during lecture and she is a harsh grader as she looks up every word on essays online for plagiarism. She is not worth 3 units
I took the class during spring semester 2014 and it haunts me to this day. The professor was incredibly unhelpful and constantly looked down on the class. The amount of reading and studying to pass was abominable and lectures were never related to what would be on tests. I was once a history major, but this class... changed my mind to say the least
The absolute worst prof I have ever had at CSUN. Study guides are useless. Powerpoints are useless. Lectures are useless. SHE is useless. Do NOT take this prof unless you want to suffer through confusing exams, lack of communication, poor teaching, & frustration. Took as an elective & I am currently regretting it. Would give all zero's if it let me
useless professor. goes off memory, slides don't matter and talking notes is very difficult. don't take this class if you enjoy history because she will ruin it
Worst. Professor. Ever. There are no clear PowerPoints and all of her lectures are based on her memory. Im a history major and she ruined the love I have for it. He lectures are all over the place, study guides are useless and she talks for the whole lecture non stop. Avoid her if you can!
Professor Addison is a great professor. You have 2 midterms and final. She gives you extra credit on your midterms. Very easy just show up to class and pay attention also her study guides help a lot!
Two Midterms, one response paper and a final. Tests were your choice of multiple choice or essay response. Verbally said that she wasn't going to give a quiz and then gave it. I missed it but it didn't seem to affect my grade. Never responded to emails but was available after class for questions. Textbook was not that hard to read.
She's just so awful. Like quit, do us a favor, quit. She makes it hard for students ON PURPOSE it seems. With off topic lectures and confusing study guided and missing class on top of that. It's impossible to get higher than a B
No textbook needed here, just show up to take notes, read what she assigns and memorize away. She has a midterm and final along with one written assignment. Get things done and she'll grade you well. Very understanding professor with a good sense of humor.
Very frustrating taking this class. This professor spent more time complaining about Donald Trump than teaching about historical events. Did not hand back quizzes and tests, lazy on explaining what needed to be read and when to prepare for quizzes. Did not seem to care that she was teaching, decided to stay in class during evaluations. Avoid.
Worst professor I ever had. DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE CLASS! I am telling you, save yourself. There are many discussion boards to do but she never grades them or the assignments. The only things she grades are the tests, which are 50 multi-choice/free response and she gives us 55 mins. A joke honestly. She is very unclear and so unorganized. AVOID

Addison is the worst professor I have ever had. If you are passionate about school and take it serious, then challenge yourself by taking other professors in the history department. She was always late, went off topic during lectures, never graded anything, and showed 5 movies... What teacher shows 5 movies in an upper division class?
very funny lectures does not prepare you for tests at all maybe the first one but after that you're on your own! make sure to get friends in class cause you are gonna need help studying for test that you don't know what its gonna be about
Class was basically left up to students to read articles and interpreted them so that teacher will agree with you. I have to say this is the most difficult class and I am horrible at math. It will frustrate you to go to class to listen to off topic discussions every week.
There is a lot of reading in this course and she was not very organized. The whole semester I had no idea where I stood grading wise. We used moodle for our readings and to turn in work, but she graded nothing which is why myself and my classmates were left in the dark with our grades. On the other hand, she is pretty lenient and very nice.
This class is horrible. It was a once a week class. She cancelled twice and comes late most of the time. Her lectures are unorganized and get nothing out of them. Half the time she is messing around with the maps she claims are out of place. Study guides that you have to do suck. Hate this class. Haven't returned our 1st exam. It's week 11. Wow.
Its tough for me to evaluate a history professor since its my worst subject but all Addison does is just blabber on for 2 hours&45 minutes of our once/week class like shes showing off her knowledge & doesnt use visual aids. Tomorrow is midterm 2 and she hasnt passed back midterm 1. There are also 3 assignments 5% of grade each that we havent done
Would you like a professor that has two midterms and passes back the second one in a week but takes months for the first one because "she forgets"? Would you like a professor that just blabbers on the whole 3 hours without any visual aid? Yeah, me neither. Oh wait, did someone say yes? Ok, then this professor is perfectly for you!
Professor Addison is funny and a great person but not great at teaching. She is very unorganized, extremely test heavy and at times really confusing. I do not recommend taking her class.
Showing up to class is a must because she will give assignments without letting anyone know beforehand. Goes off topic too much and doesn't use her own lecture slides. Rude when somebody asks questions in class. Too sarcastic. Avoid.
I got a decent grade in this class, but only because I spent every waking hour studying. Her lectures are hard to follow, her tests are based on the strangest details, and her homework (if you actually put effort into it) takes hours. Everything has to be handwritten. She's rude. Do yourself a favor and pick someone else.
I am currently taking this class, and I should've read her reviews on here prior to taking her class. I think she's very funny but that doesn't excuse her for giving bad lectures. She's all over the place and doesn't follow her visual aids. She goes off topic so many times in one class period and it's easy to get lost. Choose another professor!
I am almost done with this semester and I have to say that this was not what I expected at all. She gave back the first test and nothing else, not even homework assignments and now I got a final coming. On top of that, she doesn't teach well. She shows 1 hr youtube video for at least 3 of her classes instead. Please avoid her if you can.
Assignments must be handwritten which is annoying and tests are your choice of either multiple choice or essay and she drops the lowest test score. Go for the essay. Even if you just touch on the actual question vaguely you'll do better than on multiple choice. The class is set up so that you pass if you attempt it from what I've seen.
She expects you to read a lot before each class but you'll notice over the semester hardly anyone reads. We took the third exam before I received my grade on the first exam. She gives you side books to read but never tests you on them so they should really be considered optional. The move is to find a group and split up her assignments.
Yeah she takes a while to grade homework and exams, but honestly she's really easy. If you do her assignments (20 words-- each word has to have a paragraph) MUST BE WRITTEN it will most def. help you for the exams. I don't understand how you could even get a D in this class, it's so easy and straightforward.
Easy class as long as you do the five homework assignments. She gives study guides sometimes, doesn't take attendance, and is an easy grader. She gives the option to take either a multiple choice test or essay test. Do the essay because she grades them easy and the multiple choice is hard. Overall, a good class, i also got an A in it.
TBH this class was way easier than I expected it to be. There's going to be 4 tests, she drops your worst one, and you have the choice of multiple choice or essay. DO THE ESSAY. You will get way more points than by multiple choice. There's 5 ID homework, where you just define terms. DO THAT! They need to be hand written but helps your grade a lot.
sytraight to the point
Prof. Addison was awesome! She's pretty funny and had a solid class. Graded by 3 tests and 4 assignments. You will always get 100% on the assignments if you do them. Tests you get to choose multiple choice or essay (DO THE ESSAY SHE GRADES EASIER). You really don't need to go everyday, just study what's on the assignments and you'll be fine.
DO NOT TAKE ADDISON'S SUMMER CLASS. Worst mistake of my life. Typos throughout the assignments, modules not posted on time, and did not give us additional time to compensate for her mistakes. Did not curve final grade. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AS ME
Not the greatest Prof, ok for GE. Choice of MC/Essay on exams, do MC, grades too hard on Essay and Qs are too open ended. Read book b/c MC is detailed. Lectures unhelpful, HW is busy work. Do it, as you must define terms on exams. Advice: read the book and watch Ken Burns docs. Easy pass, hard to get A. Expect final grades to be posted REALLY LATE!
Professor is very chill but class is a bit hard to follow. She skips around a lot in the lectures which makes it a bit confusing. There's 4 tests and she drops the lowest one. You get the choice of doing multiple choice or an essay. She grades easier with the essay. Multiple choice questions focus on weird details. There's also a LOT of group work.
Dont take her if you hate history seriously. She gives study guides that literally take up your time, and most of the things on the study guide are not even on the test. SHE expects you to read a lot and half of the assigned reading isn't even on the test. She is very confusing, jumps from slide to slide. just please avoid her for a GE.
Im taking this class currently right now and let me tell you that I REGRET taking this class with her. It's useless to even go to class because her slides are not even on the test. She expects you to read a lot, and her tests are just ridiculous. She focuses on the most irrelevant details. She hasn't even posted any of our grades up avoid her
BIG NO. There is so much reading you need to do that will not even be on the test . You will notice throughout the semester people don't even show up to her class because its useless . The study guide can sometimes help but it isn't even on the test , I failed this class and now I have to retake it. But not with her lol
She's a good person and occasionally a good professor. If you enjoy history, the class will be fun and you'll enjoy her sarcastic sense of humor. She heavily incentivizes the reading but I NEVER did it, pay attention to the lectures and slides (that she posts all online). Tests are ok, but do the essay instead of multiple choice if you want to pass
She is a funny professor and has a sense of humor. But I wouldn't take her if you really hate history. She makes you read like 4 chapters that contain so much info. She gets off topic a lot in lectures and oh not to mention she jumps from slide to slide which confuses you even more. However, her personality is great she'll make you laugh.
Professor Addison cares more about critical thinking than detail recollection. Yet when I studied for her tests, I often wished that I had more to grab onto and memorize. I found myself simply reading the entire chapter through because I wasn't exactly sure what I needed to know. She doesn't give back grades until the end of the semester.
Her class is sometimes incredibly difficult to follow as she does not give typical lectures. She often strays away from what she's talking about and tells other stories. She has a funny personality, but can sometimes be very difficult to reach. She does not always reply to emails. Read, do hw and do the essay section on exams NOT multiple choice!!!
She's a great person, but not too great when it comes down to teaching her students. Her test focuses on weird details, and it is very hard to retain all the information from every chapter. You never know what will actually be on the test. Do essay better, it is way better than multiple choice. Just get ready to spend hours reading.
I strongly advise you not to take her. She posts grades super late so you never know what you have in the class. Her lectures are super confusing. Plus, her exams are insanely difficult. She puts questions that were not even discussed in class or in the book making it super hard to get an A in this class.
Addison has great humor & seems like an amazing person. However, my experience w/ her wasn't the best. We only had 3 essays, & that's what our grades are based off of. If you mess up the first test (essay) like i did, you have only 2 other chances. Be as specific as you can in the essays. Do the study guides in detail. Prepare to teach yourself.
If you are serious about History, You have to experience Professor Addison. The professor will make you work for it, but you will be a better historian for it. Warning, if you are not a history major do not take this class. The professor is very knowledgeable and willing to help you not coddle you. You will never research the same way again.
One of the most sarcastic professors you will ever have. Sometimes the class feels really unorganized and just chaotic but she means well. Nothing really to do necessarily. Graded by 3 assignments and 3 tests!
She did this whole "zero-cost" initiative thing so there was no textbook for the class, bad mistake in my opinion. In general, her lectures are just her rambling on about the time period with little "oh yeah this is important" type things only sprinkled in. She posts a lot of files/readings on canvas and only so few are actually needed.
Professor Addison is AWESOME!!! She is very inspirational and really cares for her students. He lectures are engaging and keep you drawn in! This class only meets once a week so if you miss a day you will get very far behind. There is a lot of reading for this class, but again it only meets once a week.
She's straight garbage leave the class as soon as you can
I took her 5-week summer course, and knowing what i was getting into i still managed to pass the class with an A. she has bad ratings because there's a lot of reading and it's lecture heavy. She uses a free online textbook that saves you money. Just read and follow her syllabus and which chapters to read. Her homework is basically the test. READ!
Prof. Addison was interesting. She was really nice and energetic, but honestly? I DID NOT like her as a prof. The lectures were unorganized and assignments and tests were not handed back in a timely fashion.
prof Addison is actually one of the best prof. in the history department. Taking another course with her this semester. If you are a history major you will love her class!! Test straight forward and she gives study guides with the answers, just study in advance and you will be fine
worst teacher for online history 101 very unorganized mixed up dates, might of been satan
Disorganized Professor, always late when posting grades.
Don't take this class if you don't like history. The homework she gives is unnecessary. Yes, she teaches in class, but never stays on one topic for too long, this class is a self teaching class. For the exam she gives you the option of either MC or Essay, PICK THE ESSAY, because she gave my friend a 90% and she only wrote 1 paragraph.
Professor Addison is not that bad. I've had her twice. Her assignments are tedious and can be pages worth, but you basically do the assignments and you pass the class. Her lectures are power-point based and she sometimes gets off-topic, but its all related and interesting, so she does know what she's talking about.
History 150 with this professor requires no textbook, non-mandatory, and movie time. When it comes to test, essays (WHICH I HIGHLY RECOMMEND) and multiple choice. The essays aren't graded hard unlike mc where it is right or wrong. At first, i really did not like her as a teacher or person (very bias), but she was fine and sweet at the end.
This class is 50/50 for me. If you don't go to her lectures, you won't pass but her lectures are not helpful. I would have to do my own research, it felt like an online class. She is very vague on her powerpoints but she does talk about the topics in person. DISCUSSION POSTS ARE WORTH MORE TOO. Graded by two exams and one assignment. So be careful.
VERY VERY UNCLEAR. UNORGANIZED on canvas. Your grade is based off a midterm and final. The only way to improve your grade is by doing 2 study guides and discussions. But she is very unclear on what she wants.
She doesnt know how to do things all online, she assigns way too many assignments, when her power went out, she posted the assignments without warning and she sorta extended the days but still she shouldve canceled it all together because on top of that was a lot more assignments. Her midterm was insane and her directions are never clear.
She split the class into groups for no reason all groups did not have equal lecture time equal assignments and we all learned different chapters for no reason but we all were tested on all the chapters. I don't know why she didn't just teach the whole class together all the material like normal. unorganized all assignments done and due during class
Professor Addison is nice, but this class is just so unorganized. There are so many links and assignments on Canvas, its unclear what you need to do. She also split us into groups where we learn different topics, which was odd. The essay exams were sort of hard to study for, so use Crash Course. But, save yourself the headache and dont take her.
Very unorganized. Please don't take this class
Just a lot of writing and reading ! And she's very unorganized, so please don't take her if you want to be writing a lot.
Professor Addison is the worst professor I have ever had. In an online environment, she makes this class unnecessarily difficult and fails to teach you anything at all. This class was so unorganized and a waste of time that could have been better used in a class with a qualified professor. Whatever you do, DO NOT TAKE HER, you will regret it.
She's horrible at grading on time and she grades fairly hard. I only passed because my AP history teacher in high school was really difficult and expected a lot. She does not give extra credit or round grades. Most assignments are short answers and her tests are all essays. I recommend taking her if you have previous history knowledge
WORST professor ever! she doesn't know how to use technology and doesn't upload grades or assignments until last minute. she has a lot of issues with using tech and students get the blame for it and if she makes a mistake and you do poorly because of it well too bad. take a different professor. also very rude when you try to e mail and ask for help
professor separated class into groups and would lecture about different chapters to every group. she would assign readings and said they would be in the test, which they were not. The exam randomly generates questions that have nothing to do with the readings. Not an easy class for online. only good thing is that you can use notes on the exam.
Horrible class. Would not recommend to anyone. She does not tell you your grade all semester
Prof. Addison is knowledgeable, but she can be very dry. Her lectures are comprehensive but she isn't very expressive they can get a bit monotonous. THE WORST PART OF THIS CLASS ARE THE EXAM ESSAYS! You have to complete each one during class time and you have no idea what questions you will get. She gives a "study guide", but it doesn't help.
I geniunely never had Professor so disorganized in my life. Her syllabus is inaccurate, her discussion question almost can never be found in the text books, and she never responds to emails. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS FOR YOUR SANITY.
don't bother taking the class. she is so disorganized. she is always confused during every class. you have to end up teaching yourself.
One of the worst professors at csun. She doesn't know what she is doing and does not care about your GPA. You can tell she is a tenured professor because she is rude and annoyed with students. DO NOT TAKE under any circumstance. Take the class for summer school with another teacher if you have to. Her class was a NIGHTMARE for all of us!!!!!!!
I don't know why she is getting bad ratings?! I loved her. I absolutely hate history so much and always do bad in history courses, but this was a breeze. She did essay tests so I was able to get an A of every test besides one, including the final. Literally taking her class again for upper division history.
I denounce you, professor Addison! This class is like an independent study course. All the work is online, but it's so unappealing and uninteresting. And I'm a history major! The professor rambles, and she sounds so bored. I can tell she is knowledgeable about the subject matter, but it feels like a textbook regurgitation.
This professor is the most egregious one that I've taken. The class felt like independent study, her communication is nonexistent; and unorganized. All the material is posted on canvas, so showing up to class feels redundant, however group assignments are done in class. She takes ages to grade and rambles on irrelevant information. Please Avoid!!!
You have to write 3 essays, 1 text analysis, and 3 brainstorming assignments. She doesn't take attendance but all the information you need she gives in her lectures and sometimes she does in-class activities (that do not count towards your grade). At the start of the semester I was very intimidated by this class, but it ended up being fairly easy.
Professor Addison was ok but there were so many times when I absolutely hated her. She requires you to take notes for the exams but then gets mad at you for taking notes because they aren't in your own words. She also has an assistant who is the absolute worst, he does most of the grading for her but he has no idea what he is doing. Terrible
She wasn't there a lot of the time, but when she was, I didn't have much of a problem with her. The grade you get is the grade you earn.
The class I took from Professor Addison was not incredibly difficult but I don't feel like I really learned much as most of the classes weren't really based on lectures but more just documentaries that would be posted after class anyways. I probably wouldn't take this class again but I still got an A- as the tests were chill if you paid attention
As a history major, this class wasn't exactly difficult, it just felt unorganized in all categories.Overall she just kinda of talks about the subject matter in a way where you don't know what you're supposed to be taking notes on and she usually puts questions in the homework/tests that had not been in the reading at all which hurts your grade.
A good professor for sure, gives amazing lectures I just wish we had more of them really. The big downfall of the class was while her lectures were amazing, nonetheless the majority of the material needed to pass the tests had to come from the genuinely unengaging and boring reading from the textbook. I still enjoyed my time in the class though.
Do not take any course from this professor. Awful at responding to emails. Goes off on tangents during lectures. Save your money and time.
Taking the class for GE, sounded interesting. Only week 4 and I'm regretting. Worst professor ever. Terrible lecturer. Can't convey information linearly and slides are lazy and useless. You won't learn anything in class, just read the textbook. Bad attitude too. Twice has walked in late and said "I assume none of you did the reading." Just mean.
Professor Addison's class is hit or miss - she often rambles, but the content is posted online, so you can get by with minimal attendance. Unstuckstudy ai was a lifesaver for keeping up with the material.
Worst professor possible. If you take her you will want to drop out of school.
attendance wasn't mandatory which makes it easier on those who also work. not a difficult class at all, she's quite chill. for assignments there are only four precis, a midterm, and a final.
She goes off memory on what she teaches and her slides are horrible. If she doesn't know it, she will quite literally search it up on google to refresh her memory. She's millennial funny and she will try to make a joke out of anything, even if someone showed up wearing a bright shirt or dropped a pencil while she was in the middle of a lecture.
Nice lady, knows her history but oh my was she awful to take. Never answered any of my emails, very vague directions on assignments. One assignment said "upload here," and that was it. She expects everyone to do the readings but doesn't answer any questions, nor does she grade assignments quickly. Took 3 weeks to grade the midterm grades alone.
This is the worst professor in the history department… after pretty much teaching myself the whole semester, She has the nerve to fail me. All semester there wasn't any clear guidance on what to do. Me and my classmates checked the syllabus etc. this was a waste of time and I will most definitely avoid her at all costs now.
