She's pretty young but has had some experience in this course. Can be a little funny but says some odd things when she's talking! Requires everyone to be dressed up on speech days, assignments must be typed.. a stickler for quite a few things! Not too friendly.. maybe cuz she takes this seriously which can be a good thing but seems cool to take!

She is very easy to learn from. If someone doesnt understand something she will explain it in another way. She works with you and your schedule. Best professor I have had yet.

Requires business attire when giving your speech, but that is what is done in competition. She makes you type out all notes, but only so she can read them. Notes are not a big thing, its more for you to learn from. Great passion for her classes.

By far the best professor I have had in a while. She takes her role as a professor seriously and expects the same from her students. Speeches are clear cut.

Took her for summer school. Very cool and young professor who cares for your ability to public speak to increase. Very helpful in getting your speech together. Speeches are straight to the point and her grading on them is fairly easy. Just show up and do the work and you'll be fine!

For Speech and Debate class she is amazing! She is so helpful and encourages you every step of the way. If in the beginning you are shy and feel intimidated don't because she is very approachable to any questions you may have about what is competitive in speech giving and what is not. She is all around an awesome easy going prof.

had her for a summer speech class. LOVED it! she is soo helpful. she recruited me for the speech team and I ended up doing both speech and debate! Her passion and experience in both areas made her fun and educational. Would recommend to anyone. Made me a better public speaker too! Awesome professor and coach!!

Wish I would've taken the class earlier. I would have tried to get on the speech team. Read her comments on on the outlines and use them to progress. If you do, your grades will improve as the semester passes. If you get the option to go to a tournament, do it. It was a great experience. She's easy on the eyes makes class easier to sit through

Great Professor! I wasn't looking forward to this class because I was really nervous about it. As class progressed I started to get more comfortable and she helped me through it. She is very helpful, approachable, and explains the material well. Speeches are straight forward and she tells you what she wants for them. I strongly recommend her class!

Good teachers! I've had 2 classes with her. Just do everything she asked and you will get an A hands down! There's alot of group projects but there not all mandatory. If I was you I would never work with groups. Put some effort into your papers and you will get s good grade. Just fellow the rubric she hands out. NEVER BUY THE TEXT BOOK.

I really hate giving speeches, but I loved this class! She's super funny, it's easy to pay attention to her lectures, and I have ADD. She's sarcastic, intense, and assertive, but she really cares about her students. She took time out of her schedule to catch me up before my final speech since I had missed several days. I received an A.

Very passionate about teacher so make sure your ready to speak. Tough grader but only for students benefit she makes you earn your grade. Can be misunderstood as rude but really isn't she's easy to get along with. Overall one of best professors at delta.

I loved this class! On the first day of class she said she doesn't believe in the grading system so I assumed she would be a hard grader, totally wrong! There's only one test and your final is a 2 minute speech. Don't buy the textbook just get it from the library before the midterm.

Mrs. Bruce is a great teacher. She gives great feedback on the rubric after each speech. She is a little intimidating at times, and also if you ask a question she kind of roles her eyes. She is very bad at responding to emails. But she is a funny teacher and very nice.

Kathleen Bruce is by far the best professor I have ever taken at Delta College. She is so intelligent and I enjoyed her sense of humor. If you have the chance, take her. I can not say enough good things about her.

I logged onto the class to see that there are those who did not enjoy her class and I think that is outrageous! She was funny in her lectures, gave plenty of time for assignments and even extended a few! Bumped the whole classes grades! And she added tons of extra credit opportunities! I definitely recommend her class for communication!!!

I have had Prof Bruce for other communication classes. She is a great professor and cares about her students. Online Comm St 07 this semester had technical issues and some unexpected issues but all got resolved. Do the work, communicate any issues/questions, and review your work. One should do well in any of her classes. Get ready to learn.

Shes a pretty great teacher, you do need to read the book although the books not really required especially if you actually pay attention in class she spells most of it out for you. Don't miss classes actually being there matters and shes great at giving feedback and helping you to pass. Just don't victimize yourself.

Professor Bruce's online class was like any other online class at Delta. You log in, you do the work, you're done for the day. There were a couple chapter tests and online journals you had to do but they were a piece of cake. The only time you honestly need to put work in is when you're doing a research paper. Easy class.

Professor Bruce is a WONDERFUL teacher. She will prepare you for the University level. Makes it clear that in life Communication is the number one skills employers look for in a person. She has taught me so much will take her again. With dedication and an open mind you will pass this class. Will push you because she knows you can be great.

I have token her three time Comm St 007,1A and 005. She is an easy teacher and she very smart of giving more information of thinking about the world. As long you try hard and come to class a lot you will pass with a C or higher. She doesn't grade to picky on your paper ,as long you do a great speech will be good. All the classes are fun

Professor Bruce is a very straight up professor. Tells it like it is and gives very great advice. As long as you dont have an attitude you will do great in her class. She is a lot nicer and an easier grader if you come to her office hours for help and just talk to her more. Also for speeches, choose topics that she like.

Professor Bruce is extremely knowledgeable & experienced. She was super funny and clear about what she expects. You have to be a natural speaker to get an A though I think. I got a B just following basic criteria for speeches & didn't need the book for the tests/quizzes. Go to class when she tells you & for speech days or you'll miss a lot.

Easy class. Very easy. She just needs to be a bit more organized and she needs to respond to her emails asap. It took her over a week to reply sometimes. Everything is very unorganized on canvas but I guess u will get used to her style. 3 main easy essays. Few quizzes and few extra credit stuff.

Very easy class if you do the work. There isnt much work at all. Very few assignments probably due to the essays (3). Offered a lot of extra credit which really helped my grade. Tests are hard but youll be ok because there arent many. Did take a little while longer than other profs to post grades but thats ok

Professor Kathleen Bruce is honestly a really great teacher. If someone is confused with something she is there to help and try her best to explain. I took her class during summer and it wasn't as much work as I expected. As long as the deadlines were met by the whole class then there wouldn't be any sudden changes. She isn't a harsh grader either

Bruce is one of the best teachers I have ever taken at Delta. I've taken Com 5 & Intercultural Com with her. I admit shes intimidating at first, but shes just a strong woman that's super inspirational! She pushes her students to the best they could be and I couldn't be anymore thankful for that. She's always there to give a helping hand!

Professor Bruce online class is very simple and easy to follow. One flaw.... terrible at responding to emails. When I'm in an online class I still need to be able to communicate with the Professor, so the emails I send and don't get a response to is very frustrating.

Prof Bruce is one of the best teachers I have had at Delta College. She cares about the success of her students and is very easy to communicate with. This class in particular is very interesting with how Prof Bruce teaches the material. I really suggest everyone, in any major, to take this class with her. Approachable and mindful.

Professor Bruce was a fantastic teacher for my first steps into public speaking. Her dedication to making online learning doable was really reflected in her course. She spent a lot of time trying to make sure it was simple for everyone and really takes her students' needs into consideration. She is easy to contact if you find yourself struggling.

Professor Bruce is very caring but she will be very blunt with you and tell you exactly what you need to improve on, which is something I appreciated because it did help me improve my skills in this class tremendously. Although she is blunt and straight up, she ins't rude or intimidating in any way.

Hands down the most supportive teacher I have ever had! She responds to messages right away. She gives a generous amount of extra credit. She gives great feedback. She gives realistic due dates and assignments. She designs the modules to be clear and concise. She is supportive and understanding, and is willing to work with you. Seriously the best!

Kathleen Bruce is one of the best professors at SJDC. Public speaking is scary but Kathleen's guidance and support made it manageable and even enjoyable. My favorite qualities of Kathleen is that she is always available for students and willing to work with you to make sure you have the best chances of her courses. Take any class you can with her!

Professor Bruce is the most down to earth professor I have ever come across. I love the feedback that she gives because she truly helped me to improve not just with public speaking in general, but with my FEARS of public speaking. I am VERY grateful and would recommend this professor to anyone. This course was also adapted well for being online.

Professor Bruce was kind of strict with grading, the rubric she showed us would have non specific things and she graded differently than what was on the rubric that was posted (more strictly). There were 4 speeches, each speech had an outline except for the last one. It was Overall a good class, she was very funny and answered messages quickly.

Shes literally the best, i was so scared to join her class because of the reviews, but honestly i love her so much. Just do your work and you'll be fine, gives good amount of extra credit, lots of easy discussion posts, and there are a maybe 3-5reports/essays, but you have tons of time to write it. overall just love her, super duper nice, funny.

She makes you comfortable and cares about her students. You can feel that she really wants you to do well and gives feedback after each speech on exactly what needs to be improved! Live lectures are not mandatory and posts a weekly agenda with informational videos, as well as has Zoom appointments you can schedule for some 1:1 time!

Textbook is free and is a minor component to the class. Lectures are incredibly important to watch and take notes from. She really wants you to pass this class and provides significant amounts of explanation. She is reachable outside of class and responds within a couple hours usually. Highly recommend her if you have major anxiety all around.

I took the summer course, the easiest class I have ever taken. Only 4 presentations total and they are easily graded. Weekly zoom meetings are not required, as long as you follow the modules, do your work, and practice for the presentations. For my informative speech, I did badly but I passed the class with a 99% because of the extra credit.

I took this online course for public speaking. She is easy to get a hold of and very interactive with her students. Although she may look strict and intimidating, she gives good critical feedback and is very clear what she wants; crucial 2watch the lectures to strive your speeches; not mandatory to attend. Workload isn't heavy, but put the effort!

Most of the weekly work was really easy and she accepted written work up to two days late with no penalty. Her lectures are good and she provides you plenty of resources to learn from. Rubrics were very clear and she makes you feel comfortable with speeches.

Great professor! I took her in the fall and was very nervous but learned that all the presentations were done via zoom call. Only two speeches a persuasive and informative, both speeches can be from the same topic. Prof Bruce gives great feedback, her class will help you grow when it comes to your public speaking. Professor Bruce is a really good professor for Intro to Public Speaking ! There are two speech presentations you must do, I would have had an A if i hadn't missed the first one lol, but it's mostly easy discussions and quizzes. Super lenient and understanding if you missed an assignment. i had a 79, but she rounded all our grades so I got a B
