I can't tell you how much I hated History especially US History. I thought it was the most boring subject on earth. But along comes Prof Kate Cannon who turned it around for me. She has such a passion and love for History that it rubs of on you. I'm telling you...this is nothing short of a miracle for me. Loving History...get out of here!
Mrs.Cannon is a good teacher but her grading on test is very very very very strict which made me drop this class , most of the students that take her class drop it cause the class started off with around 25 and was left with like 13 cause she failed almsot everyone on the first quiz , i wouldnt recommend her if you want to pass this class , but the
No slacking off in this class! No joke. You definitely NEED to apply yourself to reading and studying in order to pass the class. I believe it was her first year at Mt.SAC because the class started out w/hard essay tests, but she just changed it to all multiple choice... much easier.
The other comments must have been from people who didn't try very hard. She does lecture the whole period, but if you take notes, that is what the tests focus on. She gives study guides before the tests, just review the material and understand it and you should do well.
She's a good teacher but you have to be really good at essays to pass this class. I haven't used the book in her class and I have a B. I strongly recommend a tape recorder for her class. Do not take her before English 1A or you WILL FAIL! But she's nice and helpful if you come to her.
she is the worst teacher i have ever come across. it's almost like she gets off on people failing her test cause they're so hard and ask the most minute details. if you can help it DO NOT take her!
This is a great class. Professor Cannon is a lot of fun and really knows her stuff. If you took American history in high school, this class like a review. I haven't even read the book and I've gotten A's on the exams. Exams are now multiple choice and short answer cause all the losers were flunking the essays. Just show up and take good notes!
Oh man..she is annoying!! It was boring and she expects us to know as much as her on the essays. You have to do your reading in order to pass..if not..you're screwed.
shes a great professor... tends to talk to much and make gay jokes but overall shes ok... pretty hard... alot of studying... =/
Her class is pretty interesting but her notes are really hard to understand. All of her exams are two essays and mostly consist of the material in the book. It's better to read and write stuff from the book than off your mind.
She is seriously the most annoying woman! Her teaching style is extremely boring, everyone that was in the class complained. Dont take her you'll be really unhappy if you do.
A great professor. yes you do have to read and study for the tests, but she knows what she istalking about and loves history. If your looking for an intersesting and challenging class take her
She's a great teacher. Class is kinda hard, because notes are not so clear. But she does keep the class interesting. Good and recommended teacher overall.
She's enthusiastic. Her lectures are thought provoking. Sometimes she makes sarcastic remarks to students. She asks a lot of questions and if you answer incorrectly, she'll embarass you. If you are taking her class, be prepared for a lot of NOTE taking. If you are not a good writer or did poorly in English, take someone else.
She is my favorite kind of teacher... She give tests exactly on the notes and doesnt give any hw whatsoever.. the only assigment i got was one essay on 4 questions at 2-3 paragraphs each.. thats soo easy considering in my other classes i'm expected to write one essay every 1-2 weeks.. all u have to do is show up to class take notes.. and study like
I really like her a lot. she is always full of energy and keeps the class participating. I am getting a better grade in hist than i ever did. recommended!
I like her personality though the class was too hard, long lectures(3hrs) and you'd have to really keep up and pay attention without zoning out. I'd still recommend her, but only to those that can keep up with VERY long lectures and LOTS of note taking. Tests are essay-driven & are not open-book nor open-notes.
Prof. Cannon is very funny and extremely helpful. One of the best teachers at Mt. SAC. She really loves history and makes it interesting. Exams are essay which she gives you in advance. Recommended!
She always comes in with a smile and is happy to see you. Lecture class with some films and discussion. If you know how to take notes and do some reading you'll do fine. Interesting lectures, multiple choice and short answer exams from notes & book. Nice lady.
shes a good teacher but like i read before dont question her especially if you might be wrong. she makes you feel inferior and incredibly stupid. oh btw shes laughs when you are wrong. class was informative and good. exams have study guides the week before extremely easy just know how to write a 1A essay. unorganized notes.
The hw is between 5-8 essays. The midterms/final are multi-choice. The hw was hard cuz she changes her mind on what she wants. Tests are easy as long as you study her notes. She's a feminists. Sometimes she'll indirectly make fun of people. Once she gave us a packet of grammatical mistakes from other students. She made fun of us while correcting us.
I'm shocked at some of the stupid comments here. Prof. Cannon is a great teacher. I loved her US class and will take her next semester for women's. She's happily married & treats men & women the same. What's wrong with being a feminist? She covers a lot on African-American history too and she's white. Are you serious about her clothes? Get a life!
She laughs a lot but not at her students. That's total BS. She's been fair to me and the other guys in my class. I'm getting an A. There's 4 written assignments from the book and 4 multiple choice exams. Not hard. Lots of note taking, lectures are interesting. The only thing she changed was that she got rid of one of the exams. Wears nice shirts.
The first day of our women's history class she asked ALL of us why we were taking it. She was happy that there were men in the class and was nice to them. I know one guy is doing great cuz I use his notes. There are four essay exams and two short papers. She grades hard in the beginning, but will work with you on your writing. I learned a lot.
I really enjoyed this class. Learned more history than in previous history classes. Her tests are straightforward and you have a study guide the week before to prepare. All tests are in essay form. Very fun class.
She's really nice and her class is fairly easy. You take notes EVERYDAY and that's what you need to pass the tests. *warning: sit VERY close to the board! She writes VERY tiny and uses weird colors! I had to squint most of the class time. Also, when she grades your assignments, she acts more as an English Prof. than a history prof...
OH MAN BORING BORING BORING, THE CLASS IS JUST DOING NOTES EVERYDAY, SHE TRIES TO MAKE IT FUN BUT ITS JUST NOT. TEST ARE NOT TERRIBLY HARD 50 QUEST SCANTRON, AND TAKE HOME ESSAYS WHICH SHE CRITICS LIKE A MOTHER FO. NOT AN EASY CLASS NOT A HARD ONE. SHE IS VERY NICE AND FAIT THOUGH
Her class was pretty easy you definitely need good writing skills for her take home essays but other than that she explained history to the class very well.
I loved Hist 1 with her, so i took Hist 36. Both are great classes, but different. You HAVE to learn to write in Hist 1. Women's Hist. is way cooler, stuff you never knew. Cannon is a funny lady with great lectures. Won't put up with lazy, rude students. Hist 1 has multiple choice exams and written questions. Hist 36 is essay exams. Interesting!
essay format midterms and finals. required to go to events to write an essay for class. in class lectures everyday. she tries really hard to be funny but she really isn't. more critical with english grammer then on history facts. its like your taking english rather then history.
She's very entertaining. She makes history worthwhile. Before entering her class i thought history was boring and she told it like a story. And her tests are straight of her lecture.
Tests composed of 3 essay questions (5 paragraphs each) & 2 terms (2 paragraphs each). Essay questions and terms given a week before the test (no notes) but with adequate time to prepare. Gave extra credit assignment. Class was BORING though, she talked the whole time and wrote stuff on the board. Must have great writing skills to do well in class
Shes hard and easy all at the same time. She gives a lot of easy work byt still gives you somewhat of a lot of work.. Makes hisotry fun to learn. Class is mainly lectures.. and you really never get homework. Grade is based on attendence, tests, and questions she gives which must be turned in before test
She IS funny! Interesting class! multiple choice and take home essays. Cares about her students and tries to help. Go to her office hours and get to know her. Really helped me through a crisis. Great lady.
She is a really great professor, ATTEND EVERY CLASS, her class is mainly lectures/notes!! she makes the class very fun and interesting and gives out the test questions a week before test!
Great class. Great professor. Very fun. Take it!
Pretty average lecture and take notes class. Nothing out of the ordinary here. She treats her class like a class at a university and doesn't put up with stuff other teachers do. (Walking in front of her while shes lecturing, tardies, poor writing etc.) Good preparation for transfering to a university.
She is a wonderful experienced history teacher & is very excited about her subject. She gives great examples and the tests aren't hard if you read the book on top of studying her class notes...the class notes are very helpful, although it is not mandatory you attend class, you should
Cannon is a wonderful professor. Her lectures are very straight-forward and interesting. She's very sweet and outgoing, and she makes the class very intersting. She's a real stickler for attendence, though. Homework is really easy and the tests aren't bad at all.
She is an amazing professor, she teaches you what you need to know and helps you if you need it. very straight forward, no hidden agenda. Just attend the class, study for the tests and write the papers and your golden. Anyone who tries to say she's tough and failed them for no reason, obviously never went to class, hence the grade.
I loved her! She is so nice and funny, and she truly makes the lecture like a giant storyline to keep it interesting. She's so enthusiastic and passionate about history. It's all notes and tests, no hw, just a couple of easy essays. She doesn't take roll either. Just do the essays and study the notes before the tests! Highly reccommended!
Prof. Cannon is a great teacher! She knows her stuff and she is very fair. Her class was fun, interesting and motivating! There is no homework but there are tests. The tests are two parts multiple choice and essay. The essays are given plenty of time ahead and are based on questions from her lecture. I highly recommend taking her!
really nice teacher. she doesnt like slackers so if you dont like doing your work, dont take her. i hated history but she made me fall in love with it. she made her lectures feel like a story. she is so excited about the subject it shows when she lectures. just attend class and you will be fine. oh and dont be late. take her!!
i liked her notes a lot. they were very clear and i understood what she was saying. the test are not very hard you just have to pay attention to the notes. i got a B in her class and i didnt do that great on the tests. my essays however were mostly B quality so maybe thats why. overall a good proffesor
Ignore the trash talking below. What is it with these people?! Hello! It's college! You might hear NEW IDEAS! Prof Cannon is very smart, very fair, open-minded and a great storyteller. I LOVED THIS CLASS. she makes history come alive. You have to take a lot of notes in class and write well. Otherwise not hard at all.
She a helpful professor with the best sense of humor. All you need to do is just take good notes and attend each class. You really don't need the textbook, but it is helpful with writing assignments. I think is best professor I had so far.
She was not as AMAZING as the people below have said. She was good, but she thinks highly of herself. You do need to attend class because the 3 exams are based off of notes. You absolutely NEED the book. You have 3 papers to write that require the book. Everything is college level which is nice, but she was always late and always gave attitude.
she is strict on the essay and the questions on the test are challenging, you have to know the material to be able to get a A in the class. little to know extra credit
Do not miss class because everything that she lectures is on the exam. Multiple choice exams based on lecture. You need the book or else you will have trouble getting it in the library when essays are due. 3essays, and 3exams. Essay's are extremely important. You need good writing skills. I did bad in the beginning, but I pushed harder and got a B.
Prof Cannon is a great teacher. I decided that at the end of the semester. haha! Honestly, she can be confusing, but just make sure you keep your notes organized well: Important. There are 3 writing assignments that consist of 3 topics per assignment; it can be stressful. Think creatively when writing. Book is need for essays. Good luck to you!
She comes off tough at first. Don't worry, she's really nice. Great story teller. I loved this class. First time I did well in history. Prof. Cannon really makes you think. Gives study guides for the tests. Just don't be a jerk & you'll do fine.
By far the best class I've ever taken at Mt. SAC. Prof. Cannon makes history come alive with great stories. She is a fair grader. Class is mostly lecture. You have to take a lot of notes. Assigned review questions from the book and had multiple choice exams. Nice lady.
Nice woman, good teacher, easy class. I personally didn't like her personality, but everyone else thought she was funny and amazing. My problem with her was that she went off on tangents. But other then that she's amazing. Only 3 written asignments in women's history and 3 tests. Nice class, I learned a lot.
Great teacher. Never been a fan of history, but she made the class interesting and fun to attend. I learned a great deal about American History and earned an A in the end. As long as you take good notes and be responsible, an A is definitely reachable. Great story teller and an extremely nice person!
awesome professor! she is very passionate about history, and she keeps the class interested in her lectures. the exams are extremely lecture-based, so I recommend showing up to every class. but if you do what she asks, an A in the class is very attainable.
She was unorganized, and went off on too many tangetns, but aside from that she was alright.
Her multiple choice is easy but her essay portion is tough. If you study her study guide your good to go. She's a great teacher, you can tell she loves history
I loved this class. I took Prof. Cannon for hist 1 and did better than I ever did in history. so I took women's history. It was harder, more concepts, but really cool. It's not tangents, it's the best part of the class to apply these ideas to your life. So maybe you don't get it?! Awesome class. Great professor.
Wost professor on campus. If your not a social science major take her because you will get an A. If you wanna learn anything do not. She stands in front of class and talks for two hours then sends you home. You have 3 review questions. Boring useless but an easy A.
The best class I took at Mt. SAC! I just graduated and I'm so glad I had Prof. Cannon my last semester. Her lectures were so interesting and changed the way I think about history. 3 exams with multi choice and essays, 3 papers based on the book. You have to take good notes and write well to get a good grade. Well worth the effort - amazing professo
Great professor. Her lectures are fun. No homework at all. Just 3 Review Question papers & 3 tests that she gives study guides for.
clear as crystal tests on notes study guide only hw is 12 question from book so its pie!
You win some, you lose some. I feel like I get a good education from her, her lectures are easy to follow and fun. You get very little homework. And she's always in a good mood. But she's really tough on grading, and I feel like I know the material inside and out. You will end up putting in lots of work and settling for an ok grade.
3 tests and 3 hw assignments all worth 100 pts each. Answer them thoroughly and make sure ur english skills are honed b/c they will affect ur grade. Easy class, time flies and if u pay attention u dont even have to read to do well. I have an A and only read on the info bout the study guide. THe study guide is basically the test. Take her!
Three tests and three essays are required. Easy tests if you attend class and take notes. Essays are hard if her format is not followed, and books are required for essays. Her lectures are interesting.
I took her for US history, class moves very quickly, I liked the teacher, but she was super liberal
She was a great Professor. Take good notes because it helps with test. Only grades on test and essays.
Coming from a person who hated history in high school, I loved her class. She actually made history really interesting & I didn't mind attending class. The most challenging part of the class was her essays. She makes you do 3 for the semester & she's strict on her guidelines. Her tests were based on your notes so as long as you attend you're good!
This class was very interesting! She always had something to teach. Notes are a must everyday as well as attendance. Miss more than 3 days and you're dropped. Her class is pretty easy though, she is clear about the 3 essays and 3 tests. No classwork. Just pay attention, and follow her essay format!
ehhh good teacher but super tough on grading so I had to drop :/
I've taken 3 different History classes at Mt. SAC so far, and Prof Cannon is the best. She is very enthusiastic about teaching history and presents information in a clear manner. Also, she is a tough grader, but if you take notes you wont have any problems on tests & essays.
I cannot express how much i loveee coming to this class! this teacher is so enthusiastic about teaching history its soo awsome. she is by far one of the best teachers ive had at mtsac. she does grade harshly but you do learn alot I have a C in the class right now and i medium study but you need to study hard in her class to achieve an A
Shes AMAZING :).exams :multiply choice 2 short term answers ( Minimum 2 paragraphs)essay ( Min 5 para) / based on her lectures (writes Notes on the White board Be specific : Include , WHEN , who, where , how, why in your paragraphs . ex. short terms answers : Muller v. 0regon, 1908 significance : protective labor laws passed in many states ENJOY
Very enthusiastic. Knows her stuff well. Will be very interesting to you if you engage in the subject. She is upbeat and even has a song of the week at the beginning of class! Very straightforward work...3 short essays and 3 tests. Final is non-cumulative, which is awesome! Easy class, you'll need the book for the 3 essays only and the notes daily.
She teaches alright but grades really hard and lots of work.
She's an awesome teacher! The class is very very simple. There's three tests (including the final), and just three written assignments. She writes everything on the board so it's not hard to pass at all. Very enthusiastic and very knowledgeable, makes class interesting. I learned so much from her. Take her class! She's great!
She's very passionate about history & is always in a happy mood. There's only 3 homework assignments and 3 tests (including final). Tests aren't too hard if you study because she provides you with a study guide. STUDY OFF OF THAT!She bases her tests from lectures so make sure you take notes. Work is book work. She grades hard though
She is awesome! Before every class, she played a song while we wrote down the terms for the day. The course consisted of three assignments in which we had to answer questions in an essay form, and three exams. If you study, you will get the grade you deserve. I definitely recommend her.
BEST TEACHER EVER!!! Took her for fall 2013. SHe is seriously hilarios. SHe makes the material so interesting. I would enjoy and look forward to class. SHe plays a song in the beginning of every class. Easy pass if you do assignments.
She is amazing. Also, she is very clear about what she wants. 3 Assignments and 3 Tests (Including final) each worth 100 points. You'll love her. Pay attention to the songs that she plays at the beginning of each class, for she likes to ask extra credit questions about them on her tests. GOOD LUCK
She is so zany! 3 exams including non-cumulative final.3 paper/essay assignments: don't freak they r 5 easy-questions from a book, but she does grade them a bit crucially. TEST's based PURELY from lecture. the book u CHOOSE to read=final essay question. Plays song @begin of class, kinda cool & uses has extra cred question on test.
She is a good teacher, she definitely knows her stuff! She is very clear about what it is she wants, 3 exams and 3 essays worth 100 points each. Her grading is tough but she tells you that before hand. Overall a pleasant class but you should definitely put aside time to S T U D Y! You can also ask for her help ahead of time.
One of the best professors I've had yet. She is always upbeat and makes the material interesting. The class requires a bit of effort but it's not hard if you keep up with the reading and take good notes. I totally loved her teaching style and the class!
Great professor, but grades hard. She teaches very well, but I would recommend you write down her notes as well as what she said in class (she doesn't repeat nor does she write it down). She makes the class fun and interesting. 3 exams&3 essays. Plays music at the beginning of class (becomes e.c. in her exams, so write the name and title down!)
Professor Cannon is a great professor. Get ready to take notes. Listen to music in the beginning of class. Syllabus is clear and only 3 exams and 3 assignments. She is funny and make her class interesting, however, some material is repetitive from her history 1 class.
Prof Cannon is a great teacher. Shes very clear on everything and makes it interesting. No powerpoints, she writes everything on the board. Tests are based off the things she writes down. Copy that down and you're good on tests. Gives study guide for every test. Short essay required on each test but its easy if you paid attention. Highly recommend!
Professor Cannon is such a greay professor! She's so funny and makes class more enjoyable. Her notes and lectures are very easy to understand. Tests are similar to notes, however short essays on exams can bring your grade lower if you're not clear or if you're not a good writer. Reccomended to anyone who enjoys putting effort into their work.
This Professor is a really hard grader on both paper and exam. Only three papers and exams has to be done in the whole semester. Super feminism in class with her lecture
Absolutely loved this teacher, she understands that history may not be the most interesting subject to some and tries her best to spice up the class. Very smart professor. Her lectures are extremely rich and simple, I have never learned so much in a history class before hers.
Easily one of the best professors I have ever had. I would happily take her again in any course. Do well on papers or you wont pass however, they are worth a lot of points, but she is a fair grader.
I'm actually quite surprised that Professor Cannon doesn't have a 5 star rating. She explains things throughly. Her class notes are easy to understand and if you study the notes, you'll pass the test with a high B or low A grade. She hands out a study guide on what exactly is on the test. She is very funny too. Her class is very interesting.
Really nice professor. Class is mainly lecture and her writing notes on the board so make sure to copy them. 3 essays and 3 Exams (final is non cumulative). The essay's are basically you answering questions from the textbook. She also gives you a study guide for each exam which is helpful. Not an easy A class so you do have to put in the effort!
ABOUT HER: Good professor. She does digress & go on tangents, but you can tell she's VERY passionate about history & thus connects it to all over the place. It's her jubilant personality that made the rich-info history lectures bearable. Funny & straightforward. Plays music @ the beginning of class- which will be extra credit questions later.
ABOUT CLASS: 3 papers, 3 exams. Papers are long- answer review Q's from book (so yes you need the book). Very strict on how they should be formatted. Simply FOLLOW WHAT SHE SAYS & you'll be fine. Exams are mc & essays (3 short, 1 long). Take good, detailed notes. Does give study guides. 1 short group presentation on the New Deal- not a big DEAL ha
Very interesting professor. Writes her lectures by hand on the board so you know the exact information she's going to test you on. Makes history fun. Papers are difficult only if you procrastinate since it's alot of work. Fun spirit, highly recommend!
One of the best professors I've ever had. Grading was simple, only 3 review question sheets, 1 essay, and 3 exams. She's a strong feminist, but you'll get along with her nicely. She can also relate to student s and is always there if you have a question or need help. Take this class for an easy B, with effort an easy A.
She's a tough straight forward Professor. Write notes, read your book after you get home. Tests are good if you study.
Great lectures, really made you want to get into the course work. This lady had an air of class and power about her and was the perfect woman to teach a Women In History course
Ms. Cannon usually makes her lectures interesting, however, i dislike the fact that you can't go to her for questions. I've went up to her at least twice to ask her questions about an assignment and she brushes me off. She tells me to go to canvas and re read the assignment. she seems to get bothered and doesn't want to answer students questions
If you wanna do well, take A LOT of notes, and READ the chapters. Also, DO NOT procrastinate your papers. She gives you a lot of time so use it!! She's really funny and plays a lot of music + puts on a lot of movies. Bonus: rants about Trump.
I had Prof Cannon for Women's History in my fall semester (side note: w/ my best friend too). To say Prof Cannon is funny would be an understatement. Her lecture's were extremely precise, but TAKE! NOTES! DON'T PROCRASTINATE! The essays are easy if you read the book. If you do the work & attend class, this'll be easy. Plus, Prof. Cannon is awesome!
Great professor. Makes the class interesting and exciting. A few essays; all pretty easy. I was able to get a B without much effort. Work a little harder than I did and you'll get an A. If you're looking for a good history teacher, look no more.
A lecture-based class. No group work at all. 2 textbooks required. 3 exams & 3 essays total. 100 pts each. Fail to do one, unlikely to pass the class. Tests based on notes (which you can use on the test!) & essays based on reading. Buy EE6 scantrons for exams (3 total). Totally recommend. The only downside is purchasing textbooks which cost a lot.
Overall shes an adequate teacher, making sure you have all the material and resources to pass the class but the major flaw she has it that shes extremely harsh instead of giving you critiques that you can learn from and improve she blatantly puts you down, it makes it hard to want to participate because you know shell have something bad to say.
Can be rather blunt and sarcastic in her comments. Its an online class so there is a lot of reading, discussions, and quizzes. Must be grammatically correct and especially historically accurate when writing her 3 papers. A lot of work but an A is achievable.
3 exams and 3 papers. She is blunt and will tell you to drop if you fail the first exam or paper. Easy grader and gives a study guide with everything that is going to be on the exam.
I really enjoyed her lectures and she is very passionate about what she is teaching but she is a harsh critique. I felt uncomfortable talking to her about my papers because I saw how harshly she would critique the other students.
Not a very challenging class. Her three tests are based on her lectures and her three essays are based on the book readings. There are 5 essay questions per essay and she gives like 2-3 weeks heads up for the due date on the essays so its pretty easy.
She is really nice and knowledgable about her field, but she is a really harsh grader. You need to put in a lot of time in order to fully understand the material. Go to her office hours to check over your paper. You really have to work for the A because she doesn't let anything slide. Take good notes and write everything she writes on the board.
Has a very outgoing personality, very funny, and knows a lot about history. 3 tests, 1 short presentation, and 3 papers with VERY specific instructions. Tests are based off lecture so write down everything from the board. Pretty easy honors class. Seems like a lot but she spreads it out. Offers lots of extra credit. Take her.
Took this class during a 6 week semester online. II highly recommend taking her online class. She assigns weekly video clip discussions, quizzes and tests. Although the quizzes and tests are fairly easy, she is a harsh grader when it comes to the video discussions. Overall easy A/B if you do the work and you put the effort into it.
There was a lot of reading in this course, but as long as you read through the chapters at least once and use the study guide provided the tests shouldn't be too hard. You do need to put in effort for a higher grade. Easy when you put in the work.
Took her Spring 2019. She doesnt do slides just talks and writes on the whiteboard the whole time (write down everything she says). The lecture style intimidated me but if you write it all down its literally the tests. I liked her class but she doesnt present herself as approachable. Im typically an A student but she grades rather tough.
Such a great professor. I took this class because I needed one more class to become a full-time student and I do not regret it. I've learned so much thanks to this professor. We didn't have to meet up at all, we never had too much homework, it was never overwhelming. Please respond to her comments for your participation grade. Definitely recommend
She was very upfront in her syllabus and attached the reading schedule so you can plan accordingly. There is a ton of reading. The discussions every week are extremely easy to get full points as long as you actually read her requirements and know the material. PAY ATTENTION to her exam study guides! Loved her course, she cares for her students!
so rude and unprofessional for no reason. would give one star but im being generous enough to give her two because the class was easy
She is a very good professor! The only thing I have to say that kinda irks me is that she said to use proper grammar and write our essays like we typically would as an English class, but sometimes she misspells words so she will grade you for misspelling words or using improper grammar but she does it so be aware of that. Her class is super easy.
She was okay. I didn't like the fact that I didn't learn much from her lectures since everything was posted online. She's really personable, but her lectures were boring. There's A LOT of reading and you're required to get 2 textbooks. The quizzes are semi-hard since it's based on her lecture notes, videos on Canvas, AND textbook(s).
Online class was organized! 2 required textbooks. Assignments all had a clear rubric to go by for grading, follow it & you'll get an A! Quizzes based off textbook reading, with a study guide. Assignments were interesting with a mix of film comments & discussion topics. Overall an easy class & learned a lot!
Professor Cannon was a very straightforward professor and the class overall was pretty easy. She publishes lecture notes on Canvas, which is VERY helpful. Her lectures can sometimes be on the tangent side, but attendance is MANDATORY. She's overall pretty nice and provides good feedback, just doesn't respond to emails ASAP.
The class is easy, and doing the work will get you an A. She asks for 2 textbooks, however, the Maclean book was used only once. I STRONGLY recommend you get the pdf version of the textbooks. Lots of reading.
Her class was easy. You have all week to submit your assignments. It is a lot of reading but the work is an easy A.
The class was fairly easy. There were lots of short films to watch and comment on. I did learn some cool information I didn't know before. Canvas was organized and easy to navigate. First history class I enjoyed.
For an online course I learned so much, she has a very well structured course. Easy to pass as long as you follow all instructions!
You have all week to complete assignments, however she grades very harshly. I did not like that she made a lot of big critiques about grammar and would then use in proper grammar in the comments she made correcting your grammar so beware of that. Tone is sometimes harsh when she responds to assignments. Overall easy just stay on top of work.
Professor Cannon docked points for pursuing further information on lesser known women in u.s. history, which made me feel uncomfortable. As well as not being very inviting/constructive in her grading. Graded comments felt more like passive aggression towards your work and effort being put into the class.
i took prof cannon for an 8-week online course. she's a tough grader, but she provides excellent feedback. i ended up learning a lot in the end! a textbook is required & it was a bit pricey. there were six quizzes based on the readings + 1 pop-up quiz, 2 discussion posts, five short essay films, a participation grade, & a reflection. recommend!
I have never had a professor be so blunt and rude in their feedback. I did not feel like I was being aided and supported in my efforts but rather criticized and belittled. The feedback was extensive but not constructive, providing little feedback as to how to improve. Excessively difficult grading for a basic class, definitely do not recommend.
She gives off rude attitude, Answered all the question and she wanna be stingy about the grade.
Prof. Cannon runs a well-structured online course. While she can be tough on grading, the assignments are straightforward if you follow the guidelines. The textbook is a bit pricey, but Unstuck ai helped me prepare effectively for the quizzes and discussions.
