VERY interesting class! Frustrating when she tells you to read like 5 chapters for the midterm and then by the time the test comes you only have to read like 1 or 2 chapters. She's always late, goes off on A LOT of tangents, but I still really enjoyed the class and the material. take lots of notes. super tough grader on essays, need to know dates!!

This teacher sucks! This semester, because of the furloughs that faculty is forced to take, she assigned 2 main papers instead of 3. Instead, she assigned one paper for each furlough (a total of 5). This class is extremely difficult and boring. Her tests are extremely unreasonable and she makes the class boring with her droll attitude and monotone.

She is the most aweful person I have ever met in my entire life. she wants you to fail and makes sure you do, and then tells you that you should have tried harder. i am a very hard working student and usually get very good grades. But in this class hard work doesn't mean you get a good grade.

I ABSOLUTELY HATED THIS CLASS. She is sooo boring and i can't stand her voice. She grades tests like shes on crack and they are essays. No multiple choice.

If you like history and don't mind writing like me, then you'll appreciate this class. No need to read the book. She is pretty unfair to make you write 12-18 informational sentences and 2 essays, (including a very very long one) on a 50 minute midterm. That pretty much screws the whole class over. You better make it up in the final!

This woman is terrible. She acts as if getting an A in her class is attainable yet I doubt if she even cares to give any. I did what she wanted us to do on assignments and wrote so much on her final that it doesn't make sense to me to get a C in her class. I never get C's in history! I hate her!

I enjoyed this class and learned a lot, but her grading was impossible. I think she may have intentionally graded harshly in the Fall 09 semester in order to make a point to administration about the degraded quality of education under furloughs. There is no way that her grading was fair for a 100 level history course.

Even though she's knowledgeable about the subject matter, her teaching methods are boring and worthless. The grade was based off six 3 page papers, one 8-10 page paper, midterm, and final. The tests are impossible; especially the midterm because you are only given 50 minutes. She expects you to know everything but grades arbitrarily. DON'T TAKE.

I do not recommend her in the slightest. Her teaching style is droll and monotonous. Her grading is arbitrary. The workload is horrendous. And to top it off, her tone with students in class is horrible. Just to make a point, I do NOT recommend her in the slightest.

This course is not on blackboard & theres no daily HW she just lectures, a 3 pg paper is due on the Midterm, and 5 3pg, and one 8 pg paper is due on the final. You MUST go 2 class cuz she give random ex cred quizes when nobodys in class, also take TTH cuz u have more time for the midterm which everyone fails, I got a B+, but I do not recommend her

This is the worst teacher I have had throughout my entire college experience. Lectures in a round-about manner and offers little direction on what is expected in the assignments. I read the other bad reviews and thought i could tough it out. Guess I was wrong. There is no way to succeed in this class.

Worst teacher I've ever encountered. She offers no direction, and her grading, well that's completely random - which I was able to prove. Do NOT take under any circumstances (seriously, stay an extra semester if need be).

I could not stand this class. Crawfords teaching method is absurd. She doesn't have any powerpoints or planned notes. She simply rambles about history for an hour every class..oh and anything she mentions is fair game for the test. Book is only way to learn history in this class, unless you are a computer and can remember everything she says. BAD!

Worthless teacher. Grading is completely arbitrary and vague. Getting an A on every assignment would make one think that the same was expected. I got a 55 on both my exams and slaved over them. She gives her perspectives on history for the entire class period, never stopping to include the class or caring if we listened.

THE WORST!! Stay away from her class!!I don't know how she has this rating after reading all of the reviews. No one likes her. I get A's and B's and received a C- in her class thus I have to retake. Definitely won't be taking her!!!

I agree with all the comments made about this teacher. Yet her class is very doable. Go everyday because she gives extra credit quizzes on days when not many students are there, which brought my test grades up an entire letter grade! good luck:)

FALL 2010. So there is one midterm and one final -all essay forms. IN each class session, she mostly lectures and writes down important terms and events in the beginning of class. NO powerpoints, the students must take good notes. Many mini assignments(papers) that are easy and fun. I didn't buy the textbook, took good notes and still got an A.

Crawford is a good teacher. She loves what she teaches and you can tell she knows a lot about history. Only 2 tests and 3 papers in her class but TESTS ARE HARD...NEED TO STUDY A LOT!! Papers are easy and if you e-mail her/ask questions, she'll like you. Also, ask her if you can do extra credit like go to theatre plays, etc. helped me get an A!

Kathleen Crawford is the most amazing instructor I've ever had. I attended her Ancient History (1989). I also attended both Women's Studies classes (1995). She inspired me to continue my education and continues to be a source of inspiration. I wish her all the best.

Really cool teacher. She actually makes you want to learn. I didn't touch the textbook until a week before the tests and I did really good on the tests. They are not too bad you just have to review your lecture notes because that's where the tests come from. She also goes over everything that you turn in about a thousand times to help you out

LOVED her class! 2 exams and 2 papers. Go to class, take very detailed notes, and don't buy the textbook. She tells you everything you need to know in class. Also, before the tests sit down with her and create main topics on what the questions may be about. Very helpful, sometimes funny, and cares about her students. Lots of memorization though
