good sense of humor
best Biology teacher
I recommend this teacher very highly. She knows so much about the material. She encourages every student to do well and provides them with a great basis for further study. She prepares students well for taking her tests. If you can, take her class!!
She's the best Biology teacher I've ever had. She does everything she can to help you pass the class. Plus her lectures are interesting and labs are fun. Take her if you can, you won't regret it.
Very good teacher. She's all business when it comes to getting you all the information you need clearly and efficiently. Lots of group labs and group projects - you get to know everyone quickly.
great teacher. dont try to cram the night before.. working on the study questions is a good idea.. she knows her stuff!
SOOOOO Boriing. Summer school with her was the WORST. She is unenthusiastic about teaching and it shows. You can tell that this is a job and not a career. Sometimes rude.
Straight forward and to the point teacher
Excellent teacher. I have never successfully passed a science class before, and yet this class was fun and made me want to learn. Advisable that you attend lectures and lab, as well as keep up with Study Questions. But it's worth it.
I took 3 of her classes.Bio 110, 210 and 230. She was easy when I 1st took her class. But now she is getting harder and harder and more tricky (she change the SQ around on the test) everytime I took her class.
good bio teacher- she not only made class fun, but expressed the difficuly subjects in a non-confusing way. i wouldnt mind having her again
Kathy was a great teacher. You need to attend lecture and write down EVERYTHING she puts on the board and do the study questions but other than that, she's pretty easy and fair. She made this class fun and interesting.
I Think This Will Be The Perfect Class Just To Enjoy And Learning New Things You Will Wanted To Continue Taken Kathleen Diamond As I Recomend Her As The Best In College OF SANMATEO
HEY EVERYONE I THINK YOU SHOULD TAKE THE BIOLOGY 100 EARLY MORNING CLASSES AND TAKE THE ALL THE BIOLOGY CLASSES BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE GETS IT BEFORE YOU SO BE AWARE OF IT JUST ADD B10 100 AND THE PROFESSER WILL GIVE YOU AN A+ A- B+B- JUST ADD HER CLASS RIGHT AWAY
BIO 110 SPRING SEMESTER SHE WILL FLUNK EVERYBODY CAUSE HAD A MEETING WITH THE STUDENT AND SHE WILL FLUNK EVERYBODY ON THE TEST SO BE AWARE IF YOU WANNA DROP IT NOW IT IS THE TIME TO GO WITHDRAW AND SIGN UP FOR ANOTHER PROFESSER IS THE BEST THAN KATHLEEN DIAMOND SHE IS THE WORSE PROFESSER DROPHER NOW
I think she is a very hard teacher and i know lots of people who have dropped her class. There is a lot of note taking but she does try her best to make the topics interesting.
the same goes for her, my friends told me to take her for 230, and so i did. she was so hard on grading and unclear that i was depressed for the whole semester. i thought i could manage it but NO! don't take her for BIO 230. if you have to drive miles away to take the class do so!!
Her class is pretty easy if you stay on top of things, but as for her...she's really anal about detail and tries to be funny and thinks she's interesting, but honestly, I find her to be a bit corny, and she comes off very rude sometimes as well. =) I'm getting an A so should I be complaining?..
The people above are crazy, I have never done bad in a science class (and went to a hard H.S.) and Diamond K gave me an F. She is so anal about everything and is extremly rude. Her tests are designed unprofesionally and if you mispell a word by one letter she will not give you an points. SAVE YOUR SELF THE TROUBLE AND DO NOT TAKE HER!
Bio 100 with Diamond was so easy. I have never had an easier class. But you have to go to class everyday to take notes and do classwork. She practically gives you the answers to her midterms by doing the study questions. She has 3 midterms, 2 independent assignments and a final. She drops the lowest midterm grade. It's true, she is anal, but easy A
She is completely anal, but if you stay on top of notes in class and study you'll be fine. Some people didn't get that her tests are taken RIGHT from the study guide which is clearly stated. Labs are a pain-expects you to know things that come obvious to her. Has a tendency to make you feel stpuid, but if you keep up, an A is so easy to get.
Kathy is one of the few great professors on campus. I took her for two courses, and as long as I stayed on top of my study questions, exams were a breeze. Other than labs there weren't many hw assignments. She is firm, but that eliminates all the ass kissers!
I would not reccomend Diamond - she grades homework and tests very critically. She 's very picky with the way sentences are written and it's tough to get an A!
Tests are hard...but if you go to class and do the homework you can get an A
No Comments
her tests are so easy... all you have to do is memorize the study questions and you are gonna do so good in the class. labs are a bit hard. if you take good notes and KNOW the study questions, you're sure to get an A
Make sure you do the study guides for the tests, she uses very similiar questions
Has a Pickiness about grammer and conext of answers to questions. Often times I found as very rude and presumtuous in her behavior, the class itself is like any other BIO class and not too hard. but her attitude and fickleness forced me to drop the class and retake it at skyline (A). Doesn't come off as a teacher who thinks highly of her students.
She can be mean sometimes, but she's got knowledge in her field. I liked her class. it was very easy. all you have to do is study and memorize the study questions and you'llhave As. she also assigns extra credit which makes even easier to get A's
Chem is not really necessary. Don't let her scare you. She's pretty nice if you dont let her get to you. Her tests are straight from the Study Questions. Labs are hard and tedious but she grades fairly. Make sure to check with her about exact wording for questions. If it's not in her words it's wrong. Otherwise an interesting class.
This class isn't all that hard...there's tests and labs. The labs aren't very hard, and as for the tests, all you gotta do is make sure you have all the answers for the Study Questions and then memorize them. If you have any friends taking this class with you, it'll make it even easier because you can study together! =P
dont take her even if u have to miss a semester, there is no worst teacher then her.i had an A going into the final and i swear i aced the final answered every question she gave me a C for the final. I'm an A student and i study every weekend. take anyone even the virgin mary herself or GOD but dont take her. never take her either u will drop, getaC
dont take this teacher.. no joke dont take this teacher... very mean spirited and evil... this is a bio 230 class not a class that should use your words exactly to pass the test... even using the books answers will not pass with this teacher.. she will embarrass u infront of class and throw stuff back at you. very rude and disrespectful!!!
although tests are straight from the study questions you can't just regurgitate what youve memorized. learn to think outside the box if you HAVE to take this class. if you happen to be transfer the following semester do everything in your power to pass, otherwise, say goodbye to your admission.
Positives: Organized, gives study questions, lectures are purposeful, direct, labs are somewhat fun, somewhat interesting, very passionate about subject, likes students Negatives: labs are somewhat tedious, sometimes curt, sometimes a bully on asking/answering questions. Overall: would recommend the class, but be patient with her and yourself
Diamond is very passionate about Biology. She writes clear notes on board and begins lecture on time. THere is a lot of work for this class but just time consuming. There will be 5 field trips and lots of labs. She gives you answers to all exams, just study them. Easy to get an A if you try. I enjoyed her class and learned a lot!!!!
3 MIDterms-drops one, several labs to turn in, 1 FINAL. The test questions she gives before hand and you have to answer them and memorize them, but shes very very particular. Clear and concise makes her a descent teacher overall. The worst is trying to ask about study questions for test, its like pulling teeth!
prety easy class, labs are long but easy. shes willing to help anyone during her office hours. memorize the study questions and you will ace the tests.
i dont know what the other 230 students are talking about. she goes over EVERY study question a week before the test. all you do is memorize them and you will do well on the test. the labs are long and tedious but not too difficult. she lectures well and writes clear notes on the board and there is little homework to do.
Summer school class was atrocious. Her final was absurd!!! If you do not write the exact same words as she does you get it wrong. Very annoying, and very particular. Seriously avoid her at all costs to keep frustration level down... I got a B and can't stand her!
She is really hard.we have 5 tests in this semester. There were more than 40 people in our class.almost 27 students falled the test. And she is really mean!she didn't do anything help you.Although you study really hard and review for her noters, you also will get "F" on the test.So lots of students dropped her class after the 2nd test.
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!!If you are an average student avoild this class at all costs her tests are extremly hard and her lexures are disorganized and her to understand. She constabntly paces back and forth and may have add. The class started out with over 50 people and eneded with 2o left AVOID IT!!!!
She's a good teacher. Lectures and writes everything that will be on the test. You get study questions for the exams and she helps you with them. She's really nice. She keeps it interesting because she usually has a lot of energy when shes lecturing. Just make sure you answer the study questions just as she lectured and STUDY THEM you will do fine
DON'T TAKE THE CLASS SHE GIVE ALOT OF WORK AND IS HARD WHEN IT COMES TO TEST.
this teacher was unbelievably difficult, I cannot begin to tell you how she plays favorites, and her test were so hard!! she doesn't do multiple choice, all answers are free-write and if she doesn't like your answer you get 0 points! Outrageously difficult!!!
Hard class but easy tests (If you don't miss the class).
She gives you the test questions beforehand. All you have to do is memorize the answers in the format she wants them.
Shes probably the worst teacher Ive ever had. She writes the lectures on the board but and so you have everything in your notes. when it comes to the test, she wants the answer her way or no way. DO NOT TAKE THIS teacher!! hellla people dropped and shes got a ego bigger than texas.
Awful teacher. She has a ridiculous attitude problem. Extremely arrogant and tries to make your life very difficult. This woman play's 'favorites' with certain individuals. Take NOTE of this fact. Oh and by the way, there was a 'Kathy Diamond' that RMP deleted. That had 12 pages of hate. Bad work RMP.
Extremely unhelpful, difficult and unclear. Her job is to teach, she doesn't do it.
Just memorize the questions and answers to the study questions! That's it! Don't spend too much time reading the book or you'll waste your time. The questions on the tests are pretty much just the study questions.
This woman is difficult and bias. 90 percent of the class don't bother participating anymore because of the way she talks to people. This class is now an agonizing experience when it should be fun and interesting. It is her who is to blame.
Avoid this person like the plague. It's that simple.
she's hard
terrible pro
Whoever said anything with "memorize" or "pay attention," hasn't taken the class. I missed class twice during the sememster and I would study till 4am "memorizing" the questions. Turns out, I got a 58%. You have to write it in her exact way or she'll dock points. It's impossible to cheat also. Trust me, you don't want her.
bad luck for one who takes her class
Tons of people don't like her because not only is cell bio a tough subject, but she's a tough teacher. You must work your butt off if you want a good grade in this class, and I learned a lot. She's very cynical but it's good cause it keeps people from kissing ass. When she tells you this class is not easy, you better believe it.
She is a very tough teacher, but she just wants her students to learn the material. She doesnt believe in multiple choice test because students doesnt learn that way, which is a good thing for most of us, we can't always have an easy teacher. She is a good teacher! I would recoomend her if you really want to learn and not bs it.
Good lucky taking her class, unless you do all your homework and score perfect 100's on her exams you will fail. She likes her answers word for word on tests. Did all my work but it wasn't good enough i still got an F. She demands a lot from her students including going on independent field trips.
Professor Diamond is a great teacher. She is enthusiastic and animated. Her class is very interesting and she knows her stuff. She grades hard on the tests but she gives you study questions and the test comes strait from those. Do the study questions and labs and you'll do great!
Prof Diamond is a wonderful teacher! All the exams were based on ALL of her lecture notes. Extremely helpful! For all those people who said they did the work, and still failed, they are WRONG. They probably didnt put in work. i studied a little over an hr a day a week before exams, and passed w/ an A on the final and an A in the class. Take her!
Took Kathy for bio110. Tests based entirely on study guides. Answers for study guides spelled out for you in lecture-she stops to tell you what # she is answering. Readily available and eager to help. Attendance is not mandatory bc she does not have participation points but you SHOULD GO to get the guide answers. Oh, she goes over ALL SQs in lab!
FORGET trying to take general notes. PRINT OFF THE STUDY QUESTIONS leaving space to answer them underneath. Take that to class and listen for the answers. Writing what she writes on the board is not effective. Tests are essay and hard. You have to answer EXACTLY how she wants. Great if you are a science enthusiast. Not good for GE fullfillment
The class itself has a lot of material. The way she structures the class is pretty good. Her lecture notes are basically giving the answers to the study guide which you should ALWAYS do and memorize. Try to word it the way she wants it. Labs are somewhat hard. But if you spend some time doing the study guides it should be really easy. Do not procrastinate on studying....in the beginning she seemed a kinda mean and condescending but with time she got a lot nicer and more helpful.
Class is pretty easy. Test are based almost completely on study questions she designs and answers in class. However, the catch is that you must answer almost exactly how she phrases it. I'm a bit put off by how she answers in a rather condescending tone most of the time. Frustrating but okay teacher.
This class was not difficult and easy to understand. If you memorize the study questions (which she goes over in lab) tests will be easy. She is very generous on curves and gives you extra credit opportunities and even takes the class on a couple field trips. I would definitely take her again.
Don't take this class, her tests are so stupid its exactly the study questions but marks you off for not writing it exactly how she wants it. Avoid this class if you aren't majoring in Bio
Professor Diamond demands both comprehension and succinct clarity. This is essential beyond the classroom because the intricacy of this subject absolutely compels individuals who express any understanding of this subject to know exactly what they are talking about. It's a difficult course and this professor demands your understanding. Grow ur mind
She is a horrible teacher! She doesn't prepare you at all for upper division bio classes. On the first day of my bio classes at UCSD, my professors clearly stated that the key to success in their classes is NOT MEMORIZING but to get the concept. Well guess what...the only way to get an A in Diamond's class is MEMORIZING ALL HER SG ANSWERS! Boo!
This class was challenging -- you'll definitely work to achieve a good grade. She belittles students, is a difficult grader, etc. Study the SQ and know the concept. Labs are difficult. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
She is really hard. You don't retain anything from her class, because all you do is memorize for the test so you can regurgitate what she wants to hear. What time I didn't 'color' a drawing for my lab and she refused to take it until it was colored, and docked me major points. Avoid at all costs. Oh, and she LOVES homework!
WORST TEACHER EVER. She belittles students, is condescending, tough grader (stingy with points). Her exams are primarily based from SQ, MUST MEMORIZE HER WORDS OR YOU WILL BE DOCKED. If you decide to take her then be prepared to study your ass off, otherwise welcome to being part of her "statistics". DO NOT TAKE HER.
Office hours are a waste. she just says "go over the notes"... and "you're not reading your notes" and deflects my questions to my notes. She won;t answer questions in her office hours. Please save yourself and do not take her. But if you;re at CSM and need this class, you're better off going to Canada. Please don't stress with her. She's not good
If you need CE to get into UC, Diamond will make you sweat & not help you. Smartest kids in my class were going to Davis, and they almost didn't pass this class because Diamond want's you to repeat her answers verbatim. Not friendly, either. Best advice: avoid her and go to Skyline. Don't frustrate yourself with her teaching style. I warned you
Not very helpful. Office hours- she insists that you don't read your notes and that you need to take better notes and even when you have a specific question, she won't answer it clearly. She's not very friendly. Labs take entire time, and she keeps you right to 5:00 or longer. Labs are LONG and not related to exam. Go somewhere else for this class
First off, Mrs. Diamond is an ex UCLA professor, so expect her expectations and standards to be consistent with that level of education. Given her experience, she is well informed, articulate and does an excellent job lecturing. If your looking for an easy A, go somewhere else. If your looking for a mentor and expert in their field, take her!
If you are considering BIO 230 at CSM, disregard ALL positive comments of Professor Diamond from 110 students. Diamond DOES NOT treat her 230 students as kindly as she does to her 110 students. 230 is DEMANDING and you must repeat answers in HER WORDS. This class is not about "understanding the concept" it is all about MEMORIZATION. DON'T TAKE HER!
Please don't take her for cell bio. She doesn't care if you know the concepts- if you don't put it in HER WORDS- it's wrong. Go to Canada college instead for cell bio. She's not helpful and is degrading to students. Office hours she just says READ YOUR NOTES and won't help you until you point to that concept in your notes. She'll make you feel dumb
WORST TEACHER EVER!! After our first exam, 33 people received an F. To everyone in the class that received a failing grade, she sent out a mass email suggesting that the students that failed should drop the class. I went into office hours for help, she completely belittled me and told me I should drop out of college and work instead!!
Cell biology, under no circumstances, will be easy, but even after attending every lecture, every lab, and getting help during office hours, I still had to drop the class. I took my SQ's to her, corrected all my answers, and I still got them wrong on the test. Repeating her answers verbatim will still not be the right answer. Proceed with caution.
Her grade curves are generous, but I aced the tests by memorizing buzzwords that helped me remember the study question answers she gave us, verbatim. I didn't really understand the concepts. If you are taking this class for GE I wouldn't recommend her for the sole fact that there are other, easier professors who teach the same course.
She's stern. Stern, but fair. Others saying how you need to word it her way or she'll mark you down - wrong . They didn't get the concepts, thus lost points. I'd put answers in my words all the time, and got full credit. It's not memorization, it's understanding; truly helps in upper div! That said, she's certainly condescending, to say the least.
Horrible teacher and very hard test. Dont take it if your not good in biology.
Professor Diamond is fair, gives help when you need it, but by no means easy. You really have to put in effort into the work that you are submitting, otherwise you're not going to get much from this class. She's a little hard to approach because of her straightforward demeanor, but she's alright. Grade curves are pretty generous so that's cool.
Don't take this class if you have testing anxiety. The final is worth 40% of your final grade. There are NO multiple choice exam questions, just essay questions, so you must know the content and write it out. Take if you can devote time to studying. Do not take for an easy A. The average grade is a B.
She's a tough grader and you most definitely have to study to pass her exams. I wouldn't recommend for a non-bio major or anyone wanting an easy A. If you're dedicated and willing to learn, I personally believe she's excellent for that, you will most certainly learn a lot if you work for it.
By no means expect this class to be an easy A. She makes you work for it. Once you understand what she wants, it makes studying easier. I recommend forming a study group like I did with some other students in the class. The only homework is completing the labs (one week to do) and online work with the textbook. Pretty good curves too. There to help
Professor Diamond was part of a dual course with another professor (she only taught a limited amount of labs, no lectures) and she did a great job. Now, her grading may seem tough as she is very strict on how students complete their lab, but once you figure out your mistakes and fix them, you will be fine. Very nice in and outside of class.
Kathy is in my opinion an incredible teacher. You can tell she is excited by the material and cares greatly about student success. You do definitely have to work for your grade but doing well on the tests is made easy by her clearly laid out STUDY QUESTIONS. Cannot stress doing the study question enough. Do them and you will pass.
She gave me F's on every exam I took. I spent a good amount of time studying for my exams. When I went to her office hours and told her I was struggling in her class she told me to just drop my other 2 classes. She can be really rude during lectures, she moves at a very fast paste.
I would not recommend taking Bio 110 if you're looking for an easy intro to bio class. She grades very strictly, and tests are a large part of your grade. If you do not do the study questions, you will not pass. All of her tests are written response, no multiple choice or fill in. Be prepared to spend a lot of time studying for this class.
Ended up dropping the class halfway through. She gives absolutely no feedback and gives out way too much homework. Took great notes but still failed the tests. Too reliant on the book an doesn't tie it in with her lectures. Would not recommend. Biological sciences at this school are truly hit or miss.
She is passionate and very kind. You must pay attention in lecture or you'll be pretty lost. Her content is great and the class is perfect if you actually want to learn. She ONLY has short essay questions for tests. Study guides are gone over a week before exams and have the questions/answers word-for-word. Not that much homework if you do your lab
The best part about taking Kathy's class was forming a bond with other students via suffering together. Class average on tests was always around 20-60%, she thought nothing of her it. Doesn't believe in 100%. Nice lady when she wants to be, trouble is she doesn't really want to be.
Kathy is a very tough grader who doesn't truly believe in her students. The field trips were fun, but she failed to connect lab work to current classwork, which made the class unorganized. Would not recommend at all. The amount of students who dropped was astonishing.
Took this as a highschooler and passed. Lecture is kinda heavy and there's a lot of lab homework. She provides all notes and study guides you need to pass the tests, but it's up to you to make the effort to study. ALL tests are SHORT answer based (no multiple choice tests) To pass the final, just study old tests and memorize/understand answers.
diamond is easily one of the best professors Ive ever had. She is super energetic which throws some people off but she honestly cares so much about her students. her tests are designed perfectly to show exactly what concepts you understand (good prep for upper div). i feel like i have learned more in her class than i have in my entire bio career.
Very interesting class and approachable professor. To get your desired grade: 1)Take good notes during lectures 2)Don't just memorize the SQs, you MUST understand the material. 3)Make summaries of your own notes; study them before tests 4)Watch videos online for topics that you don't understand 5)NEVER argue with her 6)Go to office hours for help.
I am an econ major who was trying to find an easy bio class. This class was not easy at all. The only thing you need to worry about in this class are the exams. If you are not a science major do not bother trying to learn anything in this class. All the tests require you to regurgitate exactly what's on the study guides, word for word or else.
Make sure this is your last Biology before you take her. Also if you have taken organic chemistry or have taken all the gen-Chem so you can understand a majority of the lecture. Don't slack off, you'll regret it. Word everything how she wants it to be able to get full points for test and coursework. Take it with someone else if you can.
If you don't word your answer to her standard she will not give you full credit. She doesn't connect very well with the students and can often be condescending to students.
Kathy is really a great person, but a less great prof. She is really energetic and does try to help; however, she can play favorites and can be condesending. I took this class already having a strong background in biology, so it was pretty easy for me. You have to go to lecture though because she always wants you to word answers how she wants.
Any class with her is an opinion based class so make sure you write what she writes on the board word for word so that you can memorize it word for word so that you can answer questions with those words. Its easy to do but you never really get a full sense of understanding it since it feels forced into her view.
never take this teacher for biology class! take her as a grammar teacher coz she corrects wording and very picky with responses.
your answers should always be exactly the same as how she words it. if you rephrase it, you'll get no points at all.
take it w another professor!!! she is insanely difficult and not worth the headache. She does not help out her students in encouraging ways- but in fact makes you feel stupid!!! if i could rate her a zero i would.
Many students dropped her class after the 2nd midterm exam. I'm not sure if they know Prof KD drops the lowest midterm and counts only the best 2 midterms out of 3. She's a caring professor. She always encourage her students to come to her office hours if they need extra help. She's not a tough grader at all and very generous on grading, 85A, 75B
People who comments bad things about her are the one's who don't put effort in this class. It is pretty easy to get an A if you put effort. 84.6% is an A. I'm not sure why some students expect to get an A without following study questions, or even showing up to her lectures. She also gives you one week to finish lab homework. She gives extra credit
Diamond is a tough grader but brilliant teacher! She truly knows her subject and teaches with enthusiasm. BEWARE: you WILL need to seek help outside class AND be expected to utilize study guides in order to get a desirable grade. Words matter and she expects you to practice terminology. You will come out of her class smarter. HARD work is expected.
This is a very difficult class. In order to get full points for a question on the test, you have to use the exact same wording she used in lecture and review sessions. Her labs are quite difficult, take a long time to complete and are graded very harshly. I spent 2 hours a week at her office hours to work on labs but my avg grade was 7/10 for labs.
Amazing person yeah sure tough grader but is mainly because she want the answers to be on her own words. basically do hw + quizzes, record her lectures and review them along the study guide (which btw is exactly the quiz) and it would be and easy class. She inspired me everyday totally recommended.
She is a great professor and good at teaching. The labs are fun and I felt like I knew what was being taught, until the test. There are 4 tests, and it doesn't matter if you got 100% on all other assignments, if you don't do good on the tests you will not do well in this class. She is a very strict grader and is the only class I struggled in.
if you have to take cell biology do yourself a HUGE favor and don't take it with her. she makes it IMPOSSIBLE to get an A and her grading is incredibly unfair. tests are open answer and unless they are worded EXACTLY the way she wants it word for word you wont get credit!!!! she claims she' preparing you for a 4yr, but even postgraduates disagree
hard work is expected beyond measures, but it is not honored in her class!! don't waste your time, don't bother. if you want to hate biology class and kill yourself every week over working so much and putting so much effort in and not gaining the reward back then go for it. she literally made me want to jump off a bridge and pull my hair out. :)
Ms. Kathy is a tough grader, and she does prefer it if you answer questions in her words that she used during lecture. Besides this, the material taught in class is not that difficult, just be sure to take notes, attend every class and lab, complete assignments on time, and ask questions (she encourages this!).
Very strict grader. Make sure you are very specific and clear in your answers. She seems to be doing everything she can to give slackers another chance, which is nice for them, but unfortunately the steps she took to do that felt like they were punishing those of us who hadn't been slacking (like making Zoom lab mandatory when it wasn't before).
Prof Diamond is very good at teaching and is quite friendly. Her lectures are very organized and she provides study questions for each test which are very helpful. Her exams basically take the study questions and reword them so they are not that difficult at all and she is always available during office hours. Definitely take her for Bio 110.
Tips are to pay close attention to lectures since they directly correlate to the study questions. If you don't do the SQs, but GO TO THE STUDY EXAM LAB! She will discuss the right answers there. Never question her authority either. Her answer is the right one. She is closed-minded in terms of multiple answers so play it safe and use her words.
She is a very specific and tough grader, and she often only has one answer that she will accept as answers. Her labs can be grueling since they are right after lecture. Make sure to ask questions about anything you are unsure about or the content will not make sense to you at all.
Personality: Happy, joyful, nice person to talk to. Quizzes: every week--> questions from lecture Tests: Tough grader on written answers--> have a correctly answered (provided) study guide Homework: Minimal outside work Class: Recommend attending. Take notes on everything--> all on tests (specifics) Grading: Must answer word for word
She is incredibly unfair in how she grades her written portions. I used study question answers that I reviewed with her in class/office hours and even wording from answers on previous quizzes and tests and she would count my answers as incorrect. She is heavy on knocking off points. Avoid taking her classes.
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE IF YOU'RE BPOC OR HAVE A LEARNING DISABILITY. She treated me so horrid and uses very condescending language towards her students especially those that come from minority backgrounds. She doesn't know how to teach and if you have the correct answer she's not going to admit it and will make you feel like you're stupid & small.
I did not enjoy this class at all. She did not explain the material well and wanted specific answers using the exact words she has used. I did not understand the labs either and really struggled. She is a very tough grader and nothing pleases her. If you have the choice, don't take her class.
You don't need to read the book. Just attend her lectures everyday and participate in lab, especially when the class will have SQ reviews. (note: u can search the answers in quizlet) Recitation matters so feel free to ask any questions bc she replies very fast when u email her. She only give points on specific answers, so take notes!
I didn't struggle with course material at all, but if I did she is super accessible and helpful (if you need it). She seems pretty friendly but is unbelievably rude. Just a very rude, cranky character. Talks to students as though they're dumb (hello I'm passing your class with flying colors). Worst teacher, super easy class.
She is the worst professor I have ever taken. Dont use her for any of the higher levels, it is not worth it.
Professor Diamond is a tough grader, unfriendly, and unapproachable. The lab assignments are difficult and will require extra help from classmates or the professor. This class is definitely passable but earning an A will require a lot of hard-work, knowledge, patience, and collaboration with peers. Be prepared to read the textbook for extra help!
My experience in this class is absolutely terrible. Shes rude, impatient and a harsh grader.
Not a great professor and can be really tough on students. In exams, she looks for very specific answers from the exact study question answers given. You must get answers exactly correct or you will be deducted heavily. Attendance is very mandatory, especially on field trips. Tough class, do not recommend it if you struggle to keep up.
I've had many professors, none have come close to her sheer nastiness. Rarely does a class go by without a shockingly demeaning comment towards a student or the class as a whole. Her class itself is nonsensical, with bizarre, confusing rules on submissions and grading. If you need to take Bio230, I hear Canada is a far better experience.
The class can be manageable if you study hard and attend office hours. Attendance is mandatory. Classes were mainly lecture for an hour or two and then lab right after. She is very specific on how she wants things done. HW/lab assignments/exams are graded hard. If it's not the exact answer she's looking for she'll deduct a lot of points.
Not the worst but not amazing. Prof. Diamond is very strict on grading criteria - answers must be word for word from the study guide/lecture. Lectures went by fast, labs dragged on for hours. Not the best class but stick with it and you'll be alright.
I am not at all someone who is interested at science but her classes were pretty interesting. She's very direct which some people take as rude but she's also very helpful and always willing to answer questions. Very easy class if you just show up to lectures and listen to her when she goes over the answers for the study guide
The professor can be strict, but her classes are actually pretty interesting. Attend lectures, take detailed notes, and use resources like unstuck AI to prep - you'll do well in this challenging but manageable course.
KD is quite irritable and yells straight through every lab. Don't take her class if you are dyslexic. Wording is everything and her tone is mocking or angry most of the time. But the course is pretty easy to do well in because there are detailed study questions reviewed before every exam. Just be prepared to be treated like a misbehaving child.
Everything needs to be worded her way directly from the study guide.
