I felt like she taught in a manner that was a little above our heads. She is nice, but if you aren't good at scienve, she is not the teacher to take.

Anatomy is hard and boring itself, this teacher made you fall asleep in class, i think even med students would have a hard time in her class
She is very difficult. If you don't understand the book you will not understand her lecture. When asking questions her answers can be vague
She seems uncomfortable and relies on her handouts that are taken pretty much straight from the book. Expect to spend many many hours studying as she moves very fast through the material. Bring a camera to the lab and take pictures to use for studying.
If you are in class to learn something, you will with Dr. Finan. She is an excellent teacher! I think she explains things very well. Her tests are a little difficult especially compared to her quizes. She is a very smart woman. She isn't the most personable instructor but she really is an wonderful teacher! I am enjoying her class very much!

If you want to learn, take her class. I found her tests fair and not hard, if you study at least a little.
Really knows her stuff, but be prepared to be lectured at. Even lab consisted of her lecturing, with an anatomical model instead of the power point diagrams used in lecture. Even with this attending lecture and lab is not enough, you need to put in a lot of time studying. Class seemed a bit difficult for an entry-level, mandatory credit.
She is not easy but extremely nice. She is so serious. She does not joke that much with her students but she is good at teaching the material.
I loved the class and she was a great teacher. True her tests are difficult,but she does give you study guides that are exactly like the test material. It was alot of work study-wise just because there is tons to know but i thought i learned alot and the info stuck because it was so interesting.
Disliked her overall. Her rules are fair, but she requires you to stay the whole 3 hours for lab and deducts points for leaving early ie work, doctor appt. Doesn't think about our ability to keep up/push back tests when we weren't ready

DR. Finan was great! She was tough and firm but very fair. She expects you to be prepared, to pay attention in class and to participate in class as well to have an understanding of the course load. As long as you do the above and attend class take notes and use and review her handouts you should be fine and do well! The best instructor I had!!!!
Nice person, tough teacher. Labs are mandatory but lectures aren't. If you study everything on the handout you should do fine. LOTS OF MEMORIZING! Lab practicals are all about knowing the terms/names of stuff
Must study all of her handouts, keeps you whole time, shows up late most times, 10 quizes, 2 lowest dropped rite from hand outs, tests are harder a from handouts also but will need book some. you MUST MUST study, I got an A, but worked for it. She is dry, her final is not easy don't be fooled when she says one point questions are easy, there not!!!
She is not the most entertaining teacher but she is fair. The class is hard no matter what teacher you take really. She has a study guide that goes over what you need to know for tests and practicals. There are tons of material to memorize.
class is extreemly difficult, however she does require a copy of her outline 4 class which has an outline 4 each chapter & lab.She follows the "blue book" with extreem rigidity & ONLY material included in the blue book will be tested on.If u follow blue book u will do well b sure not 2 OVER study focus only on blubook material & u will succeed.
Terrible teacher. Take someone else. Only 8 people passed out of 60. She leaves class to answer her calls from son but expects u 2 b on time. Over entire semester took up 1 hr 7 minutes from class time. Her tests somewhat follow the blue book. her tests r 24 multiple choice and 4 essay which are hard. 2nd lab test is the worst. Dont take her!!!!!!
Run far far away from her, if u don't understand A&P, GL trying 2 understand her. she follows her outline version book aside from the A&P book, labs r excruciating & tests r ridiculously hard. u can try hard all u want, if u don't get it,ur better off switching her class & get anothr teacher that more thorough & hands on, some1 more willing 2 hlpu
took her for A&P 1551 & 1552 and microbiology, classes are hard, but she is fair. always available for help, gives you outlines for all tests. still need to study! tests are not easy but offers lots of extra credit. got b's in all her classes so its do-able. if you need these classes, take her! she really knows her stuff since shes a medical doctor
Micro is so hard but Kathy is great, really interesting, clear and lets you work on your own in lab if you want to! She's great and always willing to help with homework.
She is smart and nice to a certain extent but her tests are ridiculously hard and the questions are worded to trip you up and confuse you. She is an insanely hard grader I have never been so stressed out from a class in my whole life. She also does NOT round up. If you get a 89.9 it will be a B.
DO NOT take this professor for AP 1552. Nor for any classes. She can't teach. I got my A for 1551 for 1st semester of AP, & with her, I was failing miserably with a nice fat F. I'm usually an A & B student, with the way I study, but with her, she can't teach for the life of her. If my first sem prof taught 1552, I would take him in a heartbeat.
I love Professor Finan! I took her for Micro and Anatomy. People keep saying she is hard, but she isn't! She gives chapter outlines so if you study those you will get B/A on tests. (If you failed you either didn't study or you're stupid). She is really nice and understanding. Her lectures might be long, but her tests are super fair! Love her!!!
I had already completed graduate level science work prior to taking this course, and Dr Finan is so vague and difficult, I found it harder than most of those graduate courses. It's not the material- micro isn't easy but I never found it difficult. It's her ridiculous grading and essay questions that re designed to confuse you. Do not recommend!

Don't get me wrong she is very helpful when you need help, but is a terrible when explaining things to the class. Assigns wayyyy too many information to obtain at times. Quizzes almost every week, and the second lab exam is the worst. I recommend you take some one other than her.

Love this class!Dr. Finan is super clear on what will be on the exams.my class had interesting discussions every lecture.Ask questions.Do ALL extra credits and you'll be an A no problem! Definitely recommend!
Dr. Finan is a good person but an awful teacher. He lectures are long an boring (she is very monotone) she jumps all over the place when lecturing so there is no clear concept and if she runs out of time she will lecture well past her alowed time. Please please please take another teacher! Stress of micro + awful teacher no good!!
1552 is hard as is, but she wasn't too helpful. Lectures were all over the place. Labs seemed pointless at times. Not always clear in what to expect for exams. Class typically averaged D-F on tests but nothing ever changed. Offered some extra creditparticipation, but majority of credit based on exams. Be prepared to work hard if you take her.
She is very helpful and patient! Great professor! Go in for office hours, she loves helping students!
Shes a great person but when it comes to teaching shes awful. Her lectures are all over the place and labs were not helpful at all.
She is a nice person and seems like she really wants you to do well with all the outside help she provides, but her lectures are very scattered, you will be teaching this stuff on your own, and over half the class dropped by the end of the semester should tell the teacher hey your not doing something right! Take another prof if you can or study!
Online hw easy, quizzes easy... Test both lecture and lab are the hardest exams I've ever taken she is a very dry person and has her very own tutor for each of her classes. I received a B but I worked for it. Very difficult teacher and very difficult info. She seems to have some knowledge of the material but not enough to be completely helpful
I'll start with my only positive comment: she is nice. Expect extremely difficult tests, inconvenient extra credit, and the toughest grading I've ever received. I have a 4.0 GPA and I horribly struggled in this class. Prepare to stay after the allotted class time every single day as well. I beg you to choose a different professor.
She's a good teacher, like she knows what she's talking about. But she expects the class to know what exactly she's talking about. I study hours and hours per week for her tests and I've gotten high C's on all of them. It's nearly impossible for you to get a decent grade on the tests. Even the smartest people get bad grades.
Please, save yourself the agony of this class. The hardest tests I have ever taken, and I am a 3.7 gpa student. The class averaged a D-F on every test and she didn't bother to say or do anything to help the class. She hands back test with 5 minutes left in class. Doesn't bother to go over them or anything. Never been so stressed out over a class
Her lectures are straight out of the text book, has a very monotone voice and hard to pay attention to. If you study the notes you're given compared to the sections in the book you'll be fine. Really have to focus on just the notes that are in her packet, that's all she tests on. She's a nice person, but isn't too helpful answering questions.
Hard to pay attention to in class. Very Boring. Test are really hard, the questions are very detailed and there is A LOT to study. Before giving the test for the unit she teaches she starts the next unit which makes it very hard to study. Offers no extra credit :(
Had to drop her class before midterms to save my GPA from taking a huge hit. I had to retake Anat 1552 next semester, but got an A when I retook it. Do not take her, she makes the material even more difficult than it already is. Very much a waste of time and money.
The material is already dry, but she makes it that much drier. She even states in the syllabus that you will need to dedicate a minimum of 15 hours of week to study and she wasn't joking because she will quiz and test you on every single detail. Can't say I learned much because it was just forceful memorizing just to pass the class. Don't recommend
Her lectures are not the most organized, she tends to write something on the board and then add on to it 20 minutes later when she remembers something. Monotone and doesn't answer relevant questions to the health field. She probably knows a lot about human anatomy but her knowledge doesn't inspire students. I'd recommend taking someone else.
I'm going to keep it simple... 1.) Lectures are straight from the text book 2.) Buy a 64 GB cell phone so that you can record the lectures because you will not retain the information she barely tries to teach. 3.) Exams are way harder than quizzes. 4.) She will not budge on exam/quiz questions even if you prove her wrong
At the end of the semester when she was finalizing the grades, the point system that she had outlined in her syllabus didn't add up. The lab final was not worth the points that it should have been, she added extra assignments, and some of the exams weren't worth the points that they should've been. The class ended up missing out on a lot of points.
Great professor, knowledgeable, and challenging. She will make you think so don't be surprised if she calls on you in class to answer critical thinking questions. I took her for both A&P 1-2 courses because she has extensive knowledge in internal medicine and is able to clearly explain the processes of the body well.
Dr. Finan is the most supportive, organized, focused, and communicative professor I've ever had. She is absolutely committed to her students learning first, and performing well second. She is thorough with the material. Her exams and tests and challenging, but she clearly communicates everything we need to know for prep and study. And she is kind.
Not the most organized, she will write notes on the whiteboard and then add as much info as possible. Lab was our own time, she vaguely went over the models. Which brings me to the lab exams, she constantly asked us to identify structures that were in close approximation to other landmarks and dinged us if it wasn't what she was asking for.
I think it's important to learn from someone who is passionate about teaching, which she is not. Her lack of interest in teaching didn't inspire the class much. So much so that people only showed up 50% of the time. Her tests were very difficult and she penalizes for "vagueness". I had to teach myself the 99% of the material. Just take someone else
Very insightful professor and teaches the class with confidence and correct knowledge. Lectures are very heavy and I cannot stress how exact yet confusing her exams are. My advice would be to take another professor.
I was in her class and by the end of the 3rd week, 6 people had dropped the class. By the drop date deadline we only had 20 people. as the semester progressed only about 50% of the people showed up for lecture. Suffice it to say, do not take her. The few times we asked questions, she was vague or unsure. Tests are hard and doesn't offer much help.
I've always had a high B low A average and I have a D in this class. After the class average for the first test was a low 58%, she immediately scrambled to adjust her lectures, only to go back to her old ways. Offers extra credit through attendance to seminars like "how to communicate with your professor" and such. Take a different professor.
HORRIBLE! she gives a lot of hw you have online hw do just about every week, plus current event journals which have to be cited,plus lab journals which have to be about 3 pages for every experiment you do. Also she has quizzes and her exams are multiple choice and well as short answer and the short answers have to be VERY DETAILED.
She is a god-awful teacher. She grades as if the class determines whether the nasa lands on the moon or not, rather than an entry level microbiology class, god have mercy on her students this semester for they have no idea.
One of the worst profs I've ever had the misfortune of taking. Teaching style is inadequate for health care professionals. The class would ask questions & she wouldn't know the answer unless it strictly pertained to that days lecture. She is also not understanding. She lowered my GPA by giving me a B when I had an 89.7%. Goodbye 4.0, thanks 4 that.
Worst professor I have ever had. Is not passionate for teaching nor her students. She will not take criticism when she asks for it and what she can do. She will do what she can to make you not succeed. Her packets and chapter sheets are worded incorrectly and confusing. I used my hardcover but It didnt help much. First class I have to retake.
Really good teacher. If you study, this class is passable. The book you can buy for $5, that summarizes the main parts of each chapter is so helpful and makes it clear what you're suppose to know. Quiz every week that is only 5 questions helps you to stay on track. She tells you EXACTLY what will be on the tests and quizzes, no surprises.
Please don't take her class if you want to succeed in Anatomy.. I hated Anatomy because of her. Really horrible teacher.
I once said to a group of students before class, I feel like were being taught apples and oranges, but tested on grapefruit. And they all looked at me in amazement like it was the most relatable thing. All the other comments on here are true, I wont copy and paste them to mine. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. only time Ive had to retake a class.
Don't get me wrong, she's nice and very knowledgeable but she does not care about her students success. I am an average A/B student and completely failed her course, had to W before it affected my grade. She does not round percentages, little extra credit, and doesn't go over exams. Her exams are the most difficult and be prepared to learn on own.
Your grade depends on the few exams and practicals during the course. She is very vague on what is on the test and her chapter outlines don't give all the info she requires. She is very smart but does not care about students grades. More than half the class has dropped the course, DON'T TAKE HER!
ABSOLUTLY the worst teacher I have ever had. She is knowledgable but doesn't care if her students do well, there is nothing but quizzes and tests in the gradebook and very little extra credit. DO NOT bother taking her if you want to succeed. You will be teaching yourself everything and her outlines are not helpful for tests.
If you have the time to read the book and understand t this class is good for you. However, if you need more help or need something to be more specific then DO NOT! She cannot answer questions or clarify subjects. She cannot teache well enough, doesn't make sense, doesn't care about her students passing, very little extra credit hesitates a lot.
The class is certainly not easy, there's a lot of memorizing you'll need to do in order to get the grade you want. Dr. Finan has review handouts for every chapter, make sure you study what's on it. For the practicals, you MUST study off models in the library. Dr. Finan is very knowledgeable, listen and try, and you'll be okay.
Dr. Finan is a super sweet and approachable person. If you study her chapter handouts, read the textbook, and make quizlets for vocab terms, you will not have a problem. Her tests and lab practicals are straight from the handouts she gives us. If you know all the material on those handouts, you will pass. I also recommend Tracy, the tutor!
Dr. Finan is very caring, professional, and helpful. Weekly quizzes help you stay on top of the material and are directly taken from lectures. She is very clear on what will be on Lab practicals. She offers lots of extra credit opportunities and resources for learning the material. This class does require hard work, but is very doable.
She is not approachable regardless of how many times she says you can come talk to her. Her final is cumulative and regardless of how good you do during the rest of the class if you fail the final you fail the class. Would not recommend her to my worst enemy.
Dr. Finan was very thorough during classroom lectures and provided the reading and lab schedule at the beginning of the semester. She expects students to attend class and participate regularly, in addition to completing lab preparation readings/activities in advance. The class is very well organized and activities are relevant to the lessons.
Might genuinely be the worst teacher I have experienced. She is very intelligent, but does not translate that well to students. She gives loads of handouts, that may or may not contain information you will be tested on. lastly the lectures are pretty terrible, very hard to sit through ESPECIALLY the 3 hour sessions. Avoid at all costs.
Finan is very up front and honest with how she wants things. No need to play the guessing game with what will be on the exam. Ask questions, she is always willing to help. She knows her stuff. Lots of extra credit. Study. Her. Notes.

She is also thorough with lab activities. She is very approachable and is willing to listen to the concerns of her students. Overall, I would take her class again.
She is absolutely horrible. You can see by her expression that she doesn't know what she's talking about. She has shut me out from a general question I had in front of the class. She expects you to read a lot and her tests are so hard to take and she doesn't even go over with what the test is going to be about.
Dr. Finan is a great teacher! She is clear and provides students with all the information required for tests. I have taken both microbiology and anatomy from Dr. Finan and received a top-notch education on both subjects. I would not consider either of the classes easy, but definitely provided me with the necessary knowledge required for my future.
Took her class this past semester, and its difficult to learn. its also hard to show everything you know when you have 3- chapter condensed exams, its too much. I would much rather do weekly chapter exams and be done with it. She posts assignments and lectures late so everyone feels behind too. Grade is based on homework and exams scores ONLY.
I do not understand why people are so rude about Profesor Finan. She is an incredibly intelligent woman who wants you to be well-informed for your future profession. If youre taking this class, you obviously want to go into something medical-related so it should be difficult. We want only the best in the medical field.
This was the first time I had Dr. Finan and the class was bearable. Since I took this class online, I had to make sure to read the assigned pages in the textbook. She did provide guided notes to take during her recorded lectures, but be ready to sit through 30+ minutes. She does notice if you are struggling with an exam and will give you feedback.
I enjoyed Dr. Finan's class. I greatly appreciated the effort/thought she put into the materials and lectures. She clearly outlines which sections to read and provides a guided notes handout to complete which was helpful when preparing for exams. She was very responsive to questions. I would definitely take her class again. She was great.
I will say that Dr. Finan's lectures were not the best way of presenting the material. She just pointed at pictures/graphs and talked for a long time instead of outlining key concepts for each chapter. I did not even bother watching any of her lecture videos. I just watched supplemental videos that were concise in explaining certain topics.
Dr. Finan is amazing professor . A&P is a difficult subject, she made it accessible and understandable . She wants You to succeed and offers more help than any professor I encountered. She made me believe that there are still science professors that are truly there for students and UNDERSTAND their struggles. Truly wonderful and supportive!!!!
This is not going to be an easy class but Professor Finan teaches you EVERYTHING you need to know. There are no surprises with her however you do have to do the work and understand everything she teaches on a deeper level. Shes always there to help if you need the extra help outside of class. Shes an awesome teacher.
Her lectures are quite long, but all of the guided notes sheets that she does give to go along with the lectures are extremely beneficial for the lecture tests. She is accessible outside of class with really reliable office hours. Highly recommend.
Professor Finan wants students to do well and will does anything she can to help You get there. She helps with quizzes and tests and drops certain questions on tests if majority of class scored poorly. I have never seen such a considerate educator. I had her for both A&P 1571/1572 and she is a main reason why I was able to do well in both classes.
Dr. Finan is extremely knowledgeable and reaches her students with ease. With her expertise in a hard subject, she makes material understandable. Her expectations are crystal clear and it is up to hard work and commitment to do well in this class. Do the work and you will succeed. Dr. Finan is an outstanding professor. Dr. Finan is an incredibly nice and intelligent educator who sets her students up for success. You will have to work hard in this class, but she does everything in her power to help you succeed (open office hours, guided notes, etc. If you have to take this class I recommend taking it with Dr Finan.
although she is a nice person her teaching style was not helpful for me. the lab exams were very difficult and the lectures were long and didn't follow the guided notes very well, i found myself struggling to fill in the information in the guided notes.
Overall, she is a very nice teacher but the class was quite difficult. Everybody in my class would FAIL the Lecture Tests including myself. She does nothing to help fix your failing grade. The guided notes packets would be left empty after every single class. I felt that the textbook didn't even help me. I was basically on my own for this class.

Dr. Finan is available outside of class and more than happy to help her students. She has lots of resources and is a very caring professor. Anatomy is not easy and it is expected you take your own initiative. She guides you, but it up to you to do well.
Weekly online homework to help with study topics, recorded lectures online for review, lecture notes are mostly fill in the blank, and accessible outside of class. Material is rough, but doable with time and effort. If you watch the lecture recordings online speed up the video as the lectures can be two to three hours long per chapter.
You can tell that Professor Finan is passionate about the subject. Very possible to get a good grade if you put in the work. I would sometimes zone out during class everyone once in a while but she has recorded lectures up on blackboard which helped me immensely before quizzes and exams.
This professor is a nice professor, but she is a tough grader every day there is a quiz even The day after the test, there is a quiz She wants everything to be very specific. Don't listen to the people who say she gives extra credit. The only extra credit she gave was 10 points out of 1000 she drops two quizzes only out of 16
She rarely teaches what's going to be on the test. Her tests are heavy and some questions go off the course. She is kind but she does not know what she is doing in regards to properly teaching her class. There is no review for the final. You're all on your own to study.
Gives us lecture notes to write in, but never follows along with them and never gives the completed information to fill in. I literally had to read the textbook to find the information for the notes. Lectures feel like a huge waste of time, might as well just stay home and teach myself the material.
