AWESOME Prof and super nice! But VERY hard class! She tried to do everything she could to help us.. exam questions directly from review and hmwk. Supposedly they are changing the course or not offering it. Go to office hours because she will explain everything to you no matter how many times you ask... overall: GREAT prof, AWFUL class
I love ms Guy!! she makes math easy and if you do the reviews she has you'll pass the class.
Professor Guy is a wonderful teacher! She does anything she can to help and is such a sweetheart. She makes you feel like an equal and is not self centered at all. She posts reviews for the tests and the tests are not that challenging, but the material is. I got a B because I should've studied more. I would definitely recommend her!
Professor Guy was an excellent teacher. Beware, this course is for TEACHERS, and is harder than normal geometry. I found it extremely easy, but I am very familiar with geometry. Be ready to study and work hard, but she really does care if you do. Ask questions and she'll answer them. The textbook is vital for homework. Tests and quizzes based on hw
Professor Guy is AMAZING. She really cares that her students are understanding what she is teaching. She is super nice and never makes you feel bad for asking a question. She really knows what she is doing. Tests weren't too bad and extra credit opportunities are given. Overall wonderful professor.
She's nice and pretty ! But she moves so fast and messes up on examples showing you wrong ones and then emailing you the right example without going through it . her hw is so long and annoying with the program used. Honestly a lot of work
She grades SO hard its nearly impossible to pass. She asks for so much extra information and details but when you take the final its beyond easy compared to her. I retook the class with a different professor and it is SOOO much better. whatever you do... DO NOT TAKE HER!!! she's nice and is there for you but you'll fail, I promise.
I love prof guy! Second math class I am taking with her. I will say she is tough but she actually makes sure you understand if you pass! If you are like me and need to go up to calc 3 this is actually a good thing. If I could I would take all my math classes with her. She does extra credit reviews and corrections on exams for EC. Highly recommended
Prof Guy is the best math teacher. She is a tough grader, if you dont do it her way you wont get all th possible points, but she does give partial credit. Before each test she gives an online review if you get 100% on that she gives you 10 extra points on the tests. After she grades the test she lets you do corrections to get more points. TAKE HER
She's a tough grader so expect to work for your grade, but she gives many opportunities to help your grade. She also works pretty fast in the classroom so it may be a little tough to keep up. Plenty of extra credit opportunities for that extra boost. Attendance isn't mandatory but only helps you.
She's a really good math professor. Makes it really clear and the material is easy to follow but her exams are really difficult. She has office hours but they are not easy to attend if you have class at those times and she is unwilling to help you at other times. She is extremely rude as well and whenever asked a question she makes you feel stupid.
Professor Guy is one of the best professor I have had for mathematics. She allows test correction which boosts your grade up TREMENDOUSLY! She encourages you to attend her office house (YOU SHOULD!!!) She answers all your questions and makes class fun! People who leave bad reviews probably did NOT pitch in their 2 cents for the course.
Professor Guy is just amazing, best math professor I have ever taken!
Professor Guy, would break down the math problems into types, "cases," so you can understand better. She also gave quizzes at least once a week to prepare for exams. After taking trig, twice before, I can tell her exams were much easier than the other professors, she wont give the hardest questions! Attendance highly recommended, not mandatory.
Professor Guy is one the best professors I've ever had! She is nice, explains throughly and has plenty of opportunities for you to reinforce your knowledge. The only thing I ask if for her to give the exam reviews, or do a class review!! Whoever is in charge of doing it right now it's very disorganized, and simply all over the place.
If you want to do the bare minimum, this is not the class for you. If you are in school to learn and be treated fairly, you'll find that Ms. Guy not like the rest of the math dept--you wont blindsided by ridiculous questions that look foreign even after studying hard. She is a young, energetic prof who is excited to teach! I hope I have her again.
Professor Guy is a great lecturer. She moves a little quickly but will stop to explain if anyone has a question. She has a lot of office hours and let's you show her your homework before it's due. The resources are there for you to make an A in this class.
I love her! She's really young and pretty! Her lectures can go by at a really quick pace so make sure to pay attention and write everything down. I didn't find her exams that hard, the lowest I've gotten so far is 78. She offers a lot extra credit if you do the review questions (up to 10% points on exams) so do them! I wish I could take her again.
Ms. Guy is a brilliant professor! You can feel her passion for math. She is-by far- the best math teacher I've ever had. Unlike taking classes with older professors, Ms. Guy still remembers what it's like to be a student. She teaches us tips and tricks to remember the course content. Encouraging, empathetic, and caring, I definitely recommend her.
Professor Guy is an amazing professor! What she does in class is what you should expect on the exams. She gives extra credit & partial credit on exams. Always show work on your exams! She's willing to help and extremely friendly. She explains the material really well. Expect a quiz at the beginning of each class. Def taking her again next semester,
She' really nice but when she lectures, she goes through material really fast so you always have to stay on your toes. If you skip class be prepared to fail especially since she gives quizzes every class. The tests are really hard too. She's willing to help though so take advantage.
Quizzes EVERY DAY. And quizzes count towards your grade not attendance... makes no sense. And boy are they hard. She is super quick when going through material and honestly people take her because of her looks but I totally regret taking it with her, she gives extra credit but there's way better professors that teach more clear than her.
3rd time taking this class and she is by far the best professor I've had. She is a really good lecturer, but can go a little fast sometimes. Quizzes twice a week. They do suck, but she puts similar questions on the exams so I like having them. Study for the quizzes and go to office hours!!! Super helpful and nice!!
One of the best math professors, I've ever studied with. I got 103.6% in her class. Always expect quizzes in her class. If you do good in quizzes, you will do good on exams. The only thing that I don't like about her is that she makes you do flashcards, which annoys me and so I don't do it too. (P.S. - She is super hot French girl)
She is an amazing teacher. I really love her. There is a quiz every class of whatever that was learned the class before (may seem annoying, but its for you to not CRAM before the tests). The class may be hard but she explains so well that it does not seem like it. There is online homework and she gives up to 10 points of extra credit for each test.
Don't waste your money and time. You would spend hours doing homework, reviews for the test are 100 problems and the test are not even close to the problems in the review. Cumulative final and you have to study from the previous reviews from the last 4 test because she doesn't give any review for the final. No extra credit. No help at all.
One of the best math professors at FIU !! She is always there to help you with anything you don't understand. She explains things step by step so that you can easily understand the section. If you put the effort into the class and study hard then you should get a good grade. She is amazing !! Love her !! Plus she is beautiful !!
Professor Guy gives amazing notes. I have struggled with math & she was an excellent teacher, however, she was such a tough grader. Her tests are tough & when you complete more than half of the problem she barely gives points. I wouldn't take her again just because of how she grades. I went to office hours everyday but still didnt do well on tests
Professor Guy is an amazing math teacher! Her lectures are clear cut and what you see in class is what you get on the exams. Just took the final yesterday (made by dept) and most of the questions on there were on her exams during the semester. She gives partial credit and extra credit on the exams, up to 10 points for doing an online review.
Professor Guy is so great. She not only explains how to solve a problem but also why it is solved that way. There are extra credit questions on the majority of the exams. Quizzes are given every day and no calculator can be used in any of her tests/quizzes. If you got to class you'll do fine.
Professor Guy is very helpful, and has office hours in case you get stuck on a problem. She moves very fast when teaching, but as long as you study the material beforehand, it won't seem as fast. The trick to passing her exams is to re-do the quizzes and offline hw!!! Great professor, great class
Prof. Kathleen Guy is an excellent instructor with a passion that she brings into her lectures. She encourages the use of critical thinking before asking questions for which she is available to answer (emails too). Attend class there's a lot to learn and daily quiz 's on each lecture(useful guilds for the exams), so be ready, leaving time to study.
Prof. Guy is young so her teaching style is very simple and straight to the point. I am not a math person but learned a lot in her class without suffering too much. Daily quizzes but they will be a good study guide for the exams. There's a practice online test that counts up to10 extra credit points for exams. Very helpful and always available.
all in all she is great as a person.. what sucks is the program used to do hw and quiz super tedious for no reason. other than that prepare to take a lot of time to study unless you're a math genius, final is cumulative and if taken online during summer get ready to study a lot on your own but she respond quick to emails super helpful
hardest class I have taken and I am good at math. Makes the exams nearly impossible to pass by giving you the something 10x harder than what she got you prepared for. Does not provide a reviews, tells you to do examples from the book which are super easy cmprd to exam. no xc. all exams must show all work. must pass hw or no quiz.4 exams 1 final.
It doesn't make sense to take notes in her class because the chance of seeing similar problems on your tests are slim to none!
This class online was HARD but she was a very good online professor. Makes videos for each section with problems, extra credit on each exam (even final) and review packet for each exam. Connect sucks for homework but doable. Make sure you do book problems as it is like the exams. Answers email super fast. She's very nice, would tale again.
Tests are 81% of your grade Quizzes are 7%. They are very tough. She doesn't give extra credit. Quizzes are given in class every day. Online homework is due twice a week. Offline hw is due once a week. Online homework is only 6% of your grade. She drops 1 quiz and hw. She doesn't teach to the test so expect surprises. Overall, I don't recommend her
Tests never match the homework or the quizzes. I went to each tutoring session and still had to drop the class. She makes the class harder than it needs to be. She chooses the most difficult problems and puts them on the test, yet puts easy ones on the homework. Be prepared for HOURS and hours of random online homework questions!
The exams are EXACTLY like the class. Just study from the offline hmwks and quizzes and you can pass. The online hmwk is made by someone else in the dept so stick to what she teaches. She is also very nice and always stops to make sure there is no questions. I also took her for trig and it's the same. No accent and clear. EC on every exam.
Prof. Guy is a great instructor. She knows what is hard in the course and does her best to simplify it. If you have any questions shes always there and happy to explain. She generally cares for her students and takes her time to make sure you understand why things are the way they are. Online HW 2 a week & daily in class quizzes (They help alot!!)
She is the best professor. Put in the work and you will pass.
So I stuck in this class past the drop date hoping for a miracle and now I honestly don't think it's going to happen. This professor will not help you if you stay past the drop date. No matter how close you are to passing. She's given over 20 in-class quizzes!! And what I found out is that some professors don't give any! She only drops one quiz!
Only take if you need a clear understanding before moving onto calculus. Besides that this class is unnecessarily difficult if you don't really need it. Quiz EVERY class. plus 2 HW and 2 quiz online per week. Says she won't be demeaning when you ask her questions but does exactly that which is why her classes are full but no one asks questions.
She is a wonderful instructor! Yes there are a lot of quizzes but they barely count for your grade & she puts identical questions on the exams so its like a mini preview. If you go to office hours she will help you out: extend hmwk/check quizzes. The class takes EFFORT, but def doable. Every exam has EC and if you get to know her she'll help u pass
I failed Precalc in Spring with another prof and chose her to retake the class. Best decision ever! She makes everything clear in her lectures and explains concepts well. I suck at math and I'm passing the class. It's no easy A by any means but if you really wanna understand the material she's your best shot, She also has no accent so that helps
Kathleen Guy is a good professor. However, the class is algebra heavy and she expects a lot out of her students. To take this class, you have to have a very good background in math. Also, the tests are not like the homework.
She's a really great professor who really makes sure that her students understand the material. She explains everything very well. I definitely recommend her.
Ms. guy is a really good teacher. i had her last semester for MAC 1140 and she honestly did an awesome job covering everything that needed to be covered. She goes over all you need to know and it is REALLY easy to pay attention in her class and its one of the few math classes you wont mind attending. Show up, pay attention, do flash cards!
This prof is awesome! I truly am horrible at math and even worse, detailed algebra. I failed many of the exams so my highest score on an exam was like an 80. I felt extremely nervous for my final but I really put in work and studied all the in class quizzes & exams we had taken and got a 90% on my precal final!!! She is a great teacher! Def take!!
Don't take her for Calculus. Her tests are ridiculously hard and count as 90% of your final grade. She does not prepare students well for the exams. Her exam reviews are ridiculous fill in the blanks consisting of definitions and formulas only. Over 90% of my class isn't passing. She doesn't care about her students at all.
4 exams that weight 60% and a cumulative final 25% Those figures alone say more than I can. She does not prepare you well, even when attending her 1 hour rushed reviews before exams will leave you in a worse spot than before. I do not recommend her. According to her the dep't decides the course guidelines
The class is not that difficult. She makes those awesome lecture videos and will literally reply to your email within 10 minutes. I would sometimes email her 4/5 times a day and she always replied super fast and very helpful. Yes, the subject is not easy, but the exams are like the hmwk, quizzes and review packet. Don't let the others scare you.
She is really nice and tries to make class somewhat fun for the students. She is very sweet and does not mind helping you out if you don't understand something. The only bad thing about the class is that I understand everything she teaches, but when tests come I seem to forget everything, tests are a bit hard.
She's the best professor I've ever had. She explains clearly and answers emails quickly. She has many office hours so if you have any questions, definitely ask her. I took her for pre-cal and I wouldn't have passed without her. She writes everything out on the board and makes note taking super simple. There are quizzes every class and homework.
Guy is a great Professor who cares about her students learning the material. 15% of the grade are quizzes/HW 4 Tests 15% each, and a 25% final. She gives extra credit on all her exams. Yes, the class is HARD. She does great online lectures and is available for help in person. If you watch the lectures and do the homework by hand you'll be fine.
The whole class is just tests. Everyday is tests. This teacher probably quizzes you more than she actually teaches. Will not take again.
Great Professor. THis class has a low passing rate because its pretty difficult. But she really explains the topics in class lectures. We had a lot of online homework that was very long, but she definitely knows how to teach this course. I wish I could take her for Calc too
Nice does not cut it. Tests are heavy. Very few points to no points given if you know how to solve the problem but the final answer if off.
Prof. Guy is by far one of the best math teachers I've ever had. The course is tough if you struggle with math, however, Prof. Guy really makes an effort to be clear within her lectures and is always available to help. She also has other tutors that offer help. Homework can be a bit much but it really gives practice and helps prepare for tests.
She's beautiful and amazing at teaching! If I could have her for every math class i would. Every class has a quiz on the material taught in the class beforehand but they are short and very similar to the examples she goes over in class. If you study, you'll pass. Tests are always cumulative but they repeat questions often. She really cares.
Just finished this course with her. She is a very kind professor and she really cares about her students. Any professor you take for Pre Calculus is not going to be easy. However, her lectures are very clear and most of the questions from the tests are from her notes, homework's, and quizzes. Get all the easy points if you want to pass this class.
Love love love this professor! She is so caring and her lectures are really good. Tests are what we do in class or the homework. Definitely make sure to turn in all the assignments on time bc the points add up. 3 exams, online and offline hmwk, quizzes and a final. Would def take again.
Professor Guy is amazing. She makes trig interesting. She is super caring for her students and wants to see them pass. Tests are cumulative but truly helps by the time you have to take the final. Explains everything in detail and why things are the way they are. The quizzes every class prepare you for the test very well. Overall, an AMAZING teacher
I've had her for Trig and Precal, best math teacher I've ever had. If you do the homework and study a couple of days before the test you will get an A. Quiz every class but it's fair and good for keeping you on your toes. Her class isn't a free A, the tests are challenging but if you put effort into learning you will do well. Not a ton of HW either
Professor Guy is a real gem! her class was a bit confusing at first because it wasn't lecture and instead all group work. I did learn a lot because I was forced to learn the lessons before class in order to do well in the pre class and in class assignments. She cares for her students! Guy and her TA's make time to help you if you make time for it!
AMAZING PROFESSOR. Takes a hard class and makes it not easy but possible because she is great. You cant miss class or you will mess up your grade because she quizzes you every day. Cant stress enough that she is a great teacher and really care. Exams are HARD but you will leave this class smarter than you went in. If u struggle with math take her!
She is the absolute best and nicest math professor at FIU. She is extremely caring and will try everything to help you pass. You really shouldn't skip class since she gives in class work. Her tests are hard but she gives a lot of little assignments to help you pass. TAKE HER
This professor is a godsend. The class structure was a bit weird to get used to, but I really enjoyed it once I got the groove of it. Key is to watch videos and go to office hours for the preclass and ask a lot of questions in class. She is super sweet and truly cares about her students. She never makes you feel bad about asking questions.
shes hot
Do your homework and study and you will pass the class.
Professor Guy is by far, the best professor I've taken at FIU. For all of those blaming the difficult subject matter on her, get a grip. Calculus is a tough subject. Everyone knows this. Do the work, participate and get to know your resources. Prof. Guy provides instructional videos on content being covered. If you're a good student, you'll pass.
Best professor for math, explains everything clearly and gives so much partial credit on the exam. Her score on here is a 4.0 which is super high and speaks for itself. if you have her in the morning she will bring a ton of energy to class. She will always try to give you as much help as she can. Tests are 113-116/100 points each.
She is by far one of the best professors I've had at FIU. Her lectures are great and her classwork goes over the exam material well, but her exams aren't easy and she gives out a lot of homework. If you put in the effort you got an A for sure.
When she came into my precal class to sub, i knew i had to take her class for trig. Guy is the sweetest teacher ever. She gives a lot of work but it is all worth it in the end. From the mandatory flashcards to the preclass quizzes, she made sure she drilled the information in our heads. Shes also funny. Wish she taught calculus :')
Kathleen Guy knows what shes talking about. Good lectures, very nice. However, I had to drop her class because I was failing. DO NOT SKIP OVER MATERIAL YOU DONT UNDERSTAND, in this class its really important you understand everything especially the beginning material, it all connects, SHE WILL TELL YOU THAT A LOT. Quiz every class as well.
As a professor, shes great. The class consists of 5 exams, a hw and quiz every week. You need to do the hw and look at the videos she puts up explaining to pass the exams. You have to show work on the exams because shell give you partial credit if you were somewhat right. Exams give you the opportunity of 10 extra points. Final replaces lowest.
Not recommended, she isn't understanding, an insane amount of homework compared to other professors and declines to offer any real useful study guides for her tests. I would say you're better off taking this class with any other professor and taking it in person.
In my honest opinion, I think she is the worst professor to have. I recommend taking another professor because taking her will be hell for you. The test are the hardest test you will ever see. I had friends with other professors and they received study guides from their professors. Professor Guy won't give any study guides or no help at all.
This class is active learning so be prepared to prepare for class. Professor Guy and her LAs were amazing and I actually enjoyed coming to class and getting to work on problems. 30% of your grade is based on you doing assignments. She puts extra credit on every exam and gave another extra credit to fix an exam. Just make sure to do hmwk
Very caring professor, teaches in a clear and understanding way, and will help you out if you're struggling. Graded on attendance, online homework, and in class tests. Study and pass or don't and fail, simple as that.
Never ever take her. Quizzes every week, homework every class, and her tests are hard as can be. Honestly, I hate this class. It probably ruined my entire semester and most definitely my GPA.
A lot of people in my class talk trash about Guy but she is a great professor. She puts all her notes online, gives easy quizzes every class (always no harder than examples from the last lecture), and is very forgiving when grading exams. She is respectful to her students and actually works to help us. Just put in time and effort.
Wonderful professor for business calc! Truly cares and teaches. A lot of people complain about the amount of work (four tests in total / online and paper homework every week), but the work assigned is essential to learning the material. She gives thorough study guides and curves all tests. She answers emails and is always willing to help. Take her!
Favorite prof at FIU. I truly love how she teaches, she makes things very clear, very organized and makes you understand why things happen. She makes me want to learn, she is very very nice and easy to talk to. If you have the chance to take her, do so. The people who complain about the class are usually the ones not paying attention during lecture
She makes calc very clear and simple! there are no hidden surprises, she goes over every type of question that will be on the exam, provides practice tests and her hw is very helpful for studying. Love her!!!
Professor Guy is absolutely wonderful. She keeps the class very organized and has a very consistent and structured curriculum. She is beyond kind and always wants to help her students. She gives a decent amount of homework but it is necessary for truly learning the material. If you want to do well and are willing to work, then you will do great.
She's honestly pretty great teacher, although a lot of people didn't like her. You have a lot of homework online but you can find all the answers. Then she had 4 tests throughout which she gave a study guide for and as long as you knew it, u get an A my lowest score was a 95. She's really nice, the material is just tough cause its calc but yeah.
Professor Guy is such a great professor!!! Trig is HARD and can be really easy to fall behind on. The course moves quick but she is always available and makes time for her students. Put effort into it and you'll get it right back
one of the best math teachers i've ever had. honestly the material is difficult but she gives a study guide for each test and the tests are super similar to the study guides. theres a homework and quiz due every class but theyre easy. one more thing, make sure to check for pre class assignments. she doesnt notify you. super nice lady, really cares
Professor Guy is the best professor I've ever had! She's extremely caring and truly cares about her students. Trig can be difficult, but Professor Guy has a gift for making it seem simple. She will go back to algebraic basics to help everyone understand the material. Every exam has extra-credit points, and her office hours are very helpful.
she is an amazing professor, for me the class was very easy but there is a lot of homework . If you are someone who is not very good at math take her, she very very very helpful
Professor Guy may be a great teacher for in-person, but I would not recommend her for an online course. Her weekly zoom meetings are in the middle of the day during the week, and she doesn't record them for later viewing. Her study guides do not align with what is on the exam. Anytime I reached out to her for help she provided useless advice.
You will need to try in this class. There is a lot of work. Do not worry if you feel behind, she more than willing to help you during her office hours.
Professor Guy is great! I wish I could take her for my other math courses. She is very knowledgeable on the material and explains it very well. Never makes you feel any less for not understanding. It is a difficult class and you HAVE to study, but totally worth it if you're a math major and looking to learn. Lots of homework; study guides help!!
I wouldn't recommend for a hybrid class. She won't lecture AT ALL, claiming that since the class is hybrid, you need to teach yourself through videos. I've had many hybrid classes at FIU, where the professor actually lectures, instead of just giving a worksheet. Exams worth 60% of your grade, a little too harsh for a non-math major course. Beware.
COVID 19 was a huge factor and this professor made matters completely worse. I have never met a professor that showed such little care about her students. When we had the transition to online learning a bunch of students did not have laptops or the materials to continue the class so she told us to drop the class. DO NOT TAKE HER!A lot more happened
Ever since corona and going full online let me tell you, she honestly could care less about what you're going through she will still continue to assign hard tests and homework. I would've dropped her class if I could. DON'T take her unless you wanna be up all night studying a study guide that isn't even close to the actual tests!
I am finishing MAC 2223 with her and she is honestly the best professor I've had. She is very nice and understanding, do exactly what she says and follow her advice on passing the class. IT WORKS. I used to be very bad at math and pass with c's now I have a solid A in her class. Her Homework is not hard at all and there are no Lab requirements.
This whole virus thing has really thrown the class off, but Professor Guy has been super sweet and understanding for me. When I have emailed her for extensions or help she has given them to me. Her lecture videos online are awesome. I took her for hybrid (half online) so expect to do a lot of work online. 40% of the grade is based on assignments
Prof. Guy was an awesome professor for Calc. She was nice and was an amazing professor. She really cares about her students learning, and even makes YouTube videos, in order to really make sure we learn. She makes you do pre classes, offline homeworks, and online homeworks, but you have enough time. Exempt from final if you average 94%. 10/10
It's a hybrid class so a lot of learning is done through videos. Every week there is 1 hw do an hour before class time, another hw due 2 days after class, and 2 mathlab hw and 2 mathlab quizzes. It's a lot of work but if you set up a good schedule it's manageable. She seems tough when you first meet her but she's very understanding if you email her
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IN THE SUMMER! I never write reviews.... this was BAD! First, there is SO much homework. (all on different programs) you have some that require printing for graphs unless you have a document converter. AGAIN A LOT OF HOME.... and guess what? you will do all of it and it will be for very little credit towards your grade.
My all-time favorite professor. Explains everything perfectly but if you do not pay attention in class, you will get lost. Super easy to talk to and always tried to help to the best of her abilities.
Took her during the spring term, and honestly - she narrows things down into simple terms for you. Pay attention to the lectures! She will answer any questions you have and will pause and go back to help you understand. She sends video lectures to aid in understanding the homeworks. STUDY! As long as you do that, the tests won't be difficult.
What an excellent professor! Despite the difficulties of COVID, she made sure no student was left behind. She will work with you to make sure you have the best grade possible, but you do have to put in work. A very organized person as well. Calculus may be tough but she will help you!
Prof. Guy is just amazing. She is super organized and the class is the same every week. You have to watch videos before coming to class & there is extra credit on every exam. She is tough and you have to work for your grade, but she is also very caring. There is a lot of hwmk, but the practice is the only way I got an A. Exams are just like hmwk.
Horrible teacher, worst teacher I have had at FIU so far.
It's a hybrid class, be prepared to watch videos and do work before, during and after class. The videos are very helpful and the workload is completely manageable. The professor is caring and takes time to explain things and provides tons of feedback. During class, we work in groups. However, the LA's in this class were not helpful.
I took her because I saw great reviews here. I do agree she is an amazing professor, when it comes to lecturing but no one is talking about the bad here. At the the beginning she tells us that her class will be one of the hardest we ever take and she was 100% right. She is extremely tough with grading so keep that in mind for quizzes and exams.
Professor Guy is awesome, she is very caring about her students, gives a lot of feedback, enforces group work, she gives a lot of assignments but they help you understand the material better, I would recommend this class 100%
Professor Guy was one of the best math teachers I have ever had. MAC 2233 is a difficult course but if you do all the homework and pay attention in class you'll pass. She also has a lot of extra study groups and some extra credit towards the end of the semester, she really wants all of her students to get a good grade in her class. I recommend!!!!
Guys, do not take her. She pretends to be nice but she is the worst professor I had in my life. Lots of homework that are useless and she does not even teach during class. Be ready to see LA's cooking eggs during your class time. Everyday homework, she makes it hard on purpose bc we all know what she is teaching...
Prof. Guy is the reason why i was able to learn and pass Calc for business, and this is coming from a guy who failed algebra 1 and 2 in highschool. The class is hard but she's a great professor, very helpful and gives you the tools to succeed without a doubt, you just have to put in the effort and you will see results. HIGHLY RECCOMEND HER CLASSES!
So this class is made by the dept & the amount of work sucks. As a professor for a fully online class though she is really good. She puts announcements to remind you when assignments are due & answers my emails super fast. Maybe in a regular semester the work load is ok but summer is soo much. Make sure to meet her on zoom cause shell extend stuff
She is one of the best professor Ive ever taken. She is very helpful and even offers to stay extra, she gives extra point for every class recession you go to , she makes he own test reviews that she gives you the answers to that is exactly like the exams. Most people that dont pass is just lazy it a college class it going to be a lot work
Is so picky about the smallest things, and its pretty much everybody for themselves. So much homework.
She does not give lectures she uses videos to teach her lessons. This class does take up a lot of your time but if u fail your exams you can pass if you do all the assignments correctly. She is very nice and cares about her students but is picky when it comes to grading but she does give a lot of partial credit when doing your exams.
Choose another professor if you can. Her set up for the class is learn before you get there and she only reviews. would set you up in groups to discuss the work but if everyone was lost you were going to fail. there are multiple weekly assignments theres the play posit videos. I have run out of characters BUT DO NOT TAKE
Amazing professor! The class is setup so that you watch videos before coming and then you try the problems in groups during class. The exams were exactly what we saw in the videos, class n homework. She has a review packet for every exam. Really caring and never makes you feel bad for asking questions!! I loved my group & I think that makes a diff
I was honestly so disappointed. I saw great reviews for a teacher that doesn't teach. It is an independent course. She posts videos and expect you to learn everything off the video and then ask questions if you have any. Thats not a teacher that's someone getting paid to be there. For a calculus course I expect a descriptive teacher. DO NOT TAKE
Amazing teacher! One of the best teachers I have ever had and made this hard course a breeze. She does online videos to help you understand the lesson which is great because you can just pause and make sure you understand everything and then in class you practice what you learned with your group members! Great easy class.
TAKE HER! The class does not have a lecture, you watch videos and take notes before class, and it prepares you for class. This class is active learning, so you use what you learn from the videos and try to do the math yourself during class time. The LAs and prof are there to help in and out of class and offer so many exam reviews or homework help.
The works throughout the course are all organized. Most important is to understand the lectures. There are 4 exams and 1 final. The final exam is exempted if your average grade is 93% or above after the 4th exam. Two classes per week. Every Tuesday is mandatory. Every Thursday is not mandatory, but it's extra credit if you participate.
The class was not hard at all. If you do all your homework, exam reviews, and watch the videos carefully you will do good. There is extra credit on exams too, and extra credits if you attend on Thursdays. The prof and the LAs are there to help. You get exempt from the final if you earn a 93 in tests and in the class. Take her!
I was skeptical bc she doesn't do lectures. She does playposit videos and you take notes and use them in class to do the in-class assignment with your assigned group. The notes, in-class, and hw all help for the test! The study guide and review are a lifesaver. Take time to study and understand the things she provides, and you can easily pass.
I took this class fully online. Although we had a lot of homework, the activities were arranged in such a way that you keep practicing previous content so that you wouldn't have to cram at the end. The professor would send emails/notifications in a timely fashion with instructions on the exams/quizzes and tips.
Professor guy was nice but she would not lecture at all. She expected us to learn by watching playposit videos. I have never failed a class in my life but this one was impossible for me to pass. I would not take her class.
The class environment is very welcoming and open. She is very easy to talk to and provides many resources for you to improve upon what you don't understand.
On Tuesdays attendance is mandatory but Thursdays are optional and extra credit if you go. You can exempt from the final exam if you have an 93% in the class and on average on the 4 exams you take throughout the semester. You have to put in work at home but it's easy to succeed in her class. She and the LAs have tons of office and tutoring hours.
I had to drop out this class because there was no way I was doing 4 visits a week just for three credits. It says that is Tuesdays and Thursdays only, but the only mandatory class is Tuesday and then you have three other days when she does not cares about attendance Workload is immense and instead of teaching in class she sends videos about theory
Professor Guy was wonderful in the time I had her, but you have to be aware that this class is very self-taught. The work consists of videos + notes + 3 and she doesn't lecture, though she and the LAs will always answer questions. If you don't have a great work ethic or need extra help with math, I would recommend a different professor.
What she gets payed to do is beyond me. She does not teach, you have to learn through videos, will not help you in class (the TAs taught me everything), and expects you to be a professional at calculus right off the bat. Absolutely the worst do not waste your time or money. My friends who got As learned from prev classes
Be aware that the class is self taught and she will absolutely not be helping you and the TAs will be the only ones around to help. The lowest grade i have ever received in a Math class. Not a worth whole experience and far too much busy work homework.
tough grader.
Loved this professor! Every Thursday you attend is extra credit towards your final. The exams are EXACTLY what you do in class. The LAs are also awesome. The mymathlab assignments kind of suck and are tedious but otherwise the assignments are worth doing bc you'll get the same type of questions on the exams. She's very caring and easy to talk to.
PT 1 As a person shes great & understanding HOWEVER as a prof very heavy with the hw that are timeconsuming esp for those with jobs or other heavy classes those who have difficulties understanding math you wont be able to learn the material youll find yourself just rushing to turn in assignments rather then taking your time learning the material.
PT 2 Being honest she should be a breeze for anyone who doesn't mind the idea of teaching themselves her material online, As well as for those who genuinely understand the concepts of trig and can manage the heavy amounts of homework including while balancing a job. Bcuz at the end of the day she is a caring prof who provides extra credit chances
Shes really nice and you can tell she cares about connecting with her students. She gives quite a bit of homework but nothing impossible. She is a bit picky when it comes to her grading on the work you show, but overall, shes really clear in sharing what she wants people to learn from her class.
You must complete work in groups of three. The professor does not teach at all, the only help you get are from the LA's. You only learn the easy level of the material on play posit videos, but the exam questions are far more complicated than what was shown. Everything is self taught and everything is busy work.
TAKEN:SPRING2021 i actually failed this class and had to get an INC. it was not the professors fault calculus is just hard. I recommend if you're struggling take it in summer by itself. Jorge Hernandez was a great prof, very chill and explained well. she is understanding and the LAs too. if you really focus you can pass.
I'd appreciate it if she'd be on time to her own office hours. She's not the only one that has places to be.
This class was my favorite math class ever... can't remember the last time I did so well in a math class. She is really caring and you can exempt from the final if you get As on exams and As in the overall class. There's a lot of assignments but the exams are exactly like what you do in class. The LAs were also super nice and explained well.
Professor Guy is a great person but in all honesty she gives too much work and expects you to learn all the formulas and lectures for her class. Don't expect her to let you turn in assignments late because she won't bother to look at them. She helps students one by one but many students get desperate because they want to get their assignments done.
I loved Prof. Guy. She really pushed me to do well in her class and I know I could have done better. She is always there to help. Yes, the class is hard and concepts can be hard to grasp but she has office hours and goes out of her way to help however she can.
Professor Guy is discouraging, unforgiving, and purposely overcomplicates assignments. She does not offer much help, and instructions are always unclear. I learned more from the LAs than from her. She does not explain things well, and shames students who do not understand. She enjoys putting students down way more than actually teaching them.
I am taking this class online. She always answers my emails super fast which is nice but the material is hard. There is a lot to memorize, I guess would be the case no matter which professor you take. If I send her my hmwk, she'll send me fixes. Exams are through proctoru which sucks. She's a good professor but take the class in person if you can.
The professor is helpful and motivated. The course was pretty hardcore. We submitted homework 3 times a week with no holidays. Exams are 65% of the course (cum. final is 20%). You pay for janky ProctorU and only use a whiteboard and simple calculator in Pearson, all of which I hated. I can't fully recommend this for people that struggle with math.
Awesome professor. Very firm, but fair. She is great!
Took this class in Spring 2023. I really like the set up of it, totally different from any math class I have ever taken. You watched videos before coming to class and then you practiced in groups during class time. The professor and LAs were really helpful! You can exempt from the final, but I didn't make that. Final was ok, not too hard
The LA's teach more than her. She doesn't teach and is very strict on her grading.
Failed the class, BUT i can recognize that it was my fault. She is a sweet professor who genuinely cares ab her students, HOWEVER that is only if you show that you care about the class aswell. If you dont care she wont care, period. Reviews are just like the exams which really helped. Final exam can be dropped or can replace your lowest exam grade.
Best professor for Calculus. The more you do outside of class the better you will do. Go to her office hours, they are extremely helpful. 10/10 class trust me. Calc is hard regardless, might as well take it with someone that helps a lot.
she was so incredibly helpful all throughout the semester, provides a lot of practice and answers any questions very fast. take her!!!
Best calculus professor! I've never been a huge fan of math but she makes the class enjoyable. Is the type of teacher to notice you, learn your name, and know what type of mistakes you make. LA's are super helpful. There is quite a lot of work to get done, but just do it on time and you'll be fine. 100% recommend.
If you put in the work, you will get the grade you deserve. Very caring professor and makes sure that you succeed. Tests are very similar to what we see in class. Take this professor!
I loved Professor Guy! She is truly cares for all her students. The workload was a bit heavy but manageable, helping to grasp the material better. Attending class can add up to extra points towards final. Doing well on the four exams means you can skip the final! The LA's are great too, and attending office hours is highly recommended!
The best option for Business Calculus! Her lectures are through videos online, which are very helpful in understanding the material. She answers any questions in class and is always attentive to help further teach the concepts.
This professor cares greatly that you succeed and pass her class. She wants all her students to receive an A and offers many after class sessions to help students succeed. If you put in the effort this class is easily passable.
dw too much about the mml, focus on the in-class assignments to study for tests the problems are pretty similar, she gives extra credit for every thurs class that u show up for (when you're not taking a test), go to office hours if you're struggling with a lesson it helps, the LAs also took their time to help u with problems
She is a wonderful professor. The content is difficult but if you put in the time and effort, she will do as much as she can to help you. She has tutoring hours and reviews before exams. I highly recommend!
I recommend this professor, I would retake her as many times as possible, she is one of the best I've known in this university, her class was amazing and her method of homework was different but more helpful than the traditional way.
Professor Guy is fantastic - she genuinely cares and will do everything to help you succeed. Though the work is challenging, using unstuckstudy and attending office hours make a real difference.
Prof Guy is one of the best professors ive ever had and she made me enjoy math again which is crazy for me. Idc what the other reviews say she is one of the most caring people ever, i bombed my first 2 exams and she helped me so much to come back from it because she saw me struggling and decided to meet with me. Her and the LA's were so helpful!!!!
I absolutely loved professor Guy. I took her for trigonometry online and she was awesome. The play posit videos are mandatory but they are really helpful and you will learn. Tests were tough because on pearson, and there was no partial credit, but still did pretty good on them. Take her!!!!!
Something to be aware of is that the class is mostly self-taught through assigned video lectures, but Professor Guy and the LAs make it easy to reach out to them during class or office hours for any questions. The class is also very assignment-heavy but the work is usually not very difficult and each of the exams weigh heavy on your grade.
Simply incredible, her class is not easy for begginers but the professor makes it look easier, Mrs. Guy is one of my favorite teachers ever and if I see that I can take another class with her I would take it, just practice and practice again the excercices and you will succeed in the class, she is the perfect instructor.
Hands down one of the best professors I've ever had… she's really cares about her students. There's a lot of assignments but they help with you exams and learning the material. Wish I could take her for more classes
Took this class a requirement. Bad Idea. Her "lectures" are through videos in which she goes by extremely fast; she leaves me wondering "where did she get this from?" Nitpicks everything on her homeworks and removes points for missing one thing. When I would be done with her homeworks, it's like there was more the next day. No break in between.
Calc for business itself is a difficult class but Professor Guy does an amazing job at explaining the topics. It's a lot of work and she's a tough grader, but if you put in the work and stay consistent you'll be fine. She also has a test out rule where you can exempt from the final if your tests and overall grade are high enough.
She's very attentive and close to students. She always has office hours. It's a demanding math class, but if you put the effort you will pass. She even printed the packets for us if you go to office hours. She's the role model of what a college professor should be; she's nice but doesn't let the lazy ones take advantage either! lot of pearson hw
if you did not like this class or did not appreaciate all her effort maybe college isnt for you. She is the most amazing professor I have ever had in college. She is so close and attentive to students, she makes everyone feel involved. She always has office hours, she explains things to you as many times as needed. Put in the effort, you will pass
Prof. Guy was the best professor I've had throughout college. She will help you get the grade you want and work with you one on one until you understand if needed. Super nice, and gives tons of extra credit. If you commit to getting an A you will get it, anyone who rates her low must've not tried very hard. Best professor.
Prof Guy is great! I came into this class with very low confidence in Algebra, but Prof Guy and the tutors were always willing to explain just enough to get you moving. She makes you work for your grade and assigns notes that you will need in the following class. Homework was not a lot. Definitely take advantage of tutoring schedule and after hrs!!
This class stressed me out so much that I cried 10 different times just doing the assignments. I work a full-time job, and managing that on top of the overwhelming workload was so difficult. The professor is nice, and it's obvious she loves what she's teaching, but wow, was it so horrifically overwhelming! I would not take this class again EVER.
She is a great professor. the class itself is very difficult so attendance does matter in order to pass. the class is basically working with the same group the whole semester. it's a lot of work and homework so you are going to have to make time for ts
This class has a lot of homework, including my math lab assignments due on Sundays, a worksheet due on Thursdays, and group packets to do in class with your group overall. It can be very overwhelming when starting the semester; however, you do get used to it. The professor is very caring, and so are the LAs. If you fail, it's probably your fault
I LOVED HER CLASS! Trig was a class I lowkey looked forward to attending and she made it real easy to understand. Prof.Guy is also the sweetest woman ever and genuinely really helpful whenever my group had questions. Review the study guides and practice exams for the exams they are typically harder than the actual exam and has everything you need
Save time. Don't even take her.
would not recommend
If you not good at math don't take her, lots of homework as well.
She's an amazing professor, if you care she'll definitely care and try to help you pass with the grade you want. It's still a math college class so ya you need to work and do homework, shocker, if you expect anything less, don't think college is for you
