not the easiest class.quite a challenge. kathleen made me work to my full potential. it was worth the hard work.
She is the greatest teacher that I ever had in english. I was never a good student in english when I was in highschool, she made me improve a lot. I got an A for the class, but I worked my a** off. Definately worth it. She is very helpful and actually wants to get you to write better.

Ms. kennedy is a wonderful english professor. i had her for eng 095 last fall semester and she really helped me how to write a better paper. now i have her again for eng 121 this fall semester. i know i will enjoy this semester w/ her again.
She failed me for not going to all the labs...I must have missed 2 labs even if.

i didn't like this class... it was boring and she graded very hard.
I thought at first this class would be easy, but she makes you work for your grades like a dog. She isn't quite clear on what she wants for the papers and she knows when you haven't been reading. So if you want your papers to be returned and told you need to go to the writing lab then take her I guess.

I've taken over 60 courses now with about 40 professors, and if I had to rank them from best (1) to worst (40), she would be #38. She can be funny, but it's usually in a demeaning way; she can be pretty dull and sometimes seems uninterested in her courses. Listen to someone w/ experience--don't take her.
kathleen is a great teacher. semester is almost over and i felt her to very helpful and answers all questions when i needed her too.
Really nice and sweet. Lots of work and writing but if you put in the effort you will definately get a good grade. She expects you to work hard, but is really friendly and funny. Don't get on her bad side! If you are nice and show up to class she will love you and do lots to help you.
awesome!!! loved her...she clearly loves what she is doing and it shows....f all the underacheivers that complain about her...if you don't like english...than don't take it...stick to home ec or automotive class
If you are open minded, follow the syllabus and deadlines and work hard, Ms. Kennedy will help you to become an excellent writer of college-level papers! She's an awesome professor who "knows her stuff"!
Kennedy was great! yes there is a lot of work you need to do, but it is definetely worth while and you will get a lot out of this class. Her assignments are not difficult you just need to stay on task and she will guide you along the way. She is funny and this class will defintetly improve your college writing skills!
I don'know what others say about her,seem to me she is strict about grading and does not help you at all with the class dificulty
she seems nice and all but its just dat there's a lotttt of reading. she makes you read like 10 chapters for one homework
she seems like a good professor in the beginning however if you do not interpret certain works the way she wants you too, she will make you redue all of your papers. Ms. Kennedy forced me to go to the writting center and when I went and showed several tutors my works, they all agreed that shes crazy.
This teacher pretty much decides when ppl can be helped an when they have no shot. In the beginning she seems real nice an helpful bu then she doesnt even try to help the ppl who need it.
I really enjoyed this class. True it is a lot of work, but its worth it in the end. I learned a lot in this class. Just stay on top of your work because theres a lot of it. I highly recommend her. If your a slacker and don't want to improve your skills take another professor.

Okay, she gave me a B+ average when I handed in all of my homework, engaged in class discussions, and busted my ass on all of the papers. Of all the nerve this woman had in her body, she tells me I do not know how to write, and sends me to the Writing Center. If you want to get insulted and criticized, take her World Lit class...

easy at the beginning and I got an A+ on my first paper but when I started to handing in drafts for my next paper nothing was good enough. She emailed me and told me things were good and then I would use her feedback and she would change her mind saying it needed work! Dont take this teacher! Save yourself the stress!

She does give good critiques and is usually available for extra help if you email or go to her office. she is pretty blunt and kind of puts ppl down. she is critical when it comes to being ontime and if you do NOT do revisions. you will NOT pass. If you're lazy and not willing to work hard don't even bother taking the class. It's hard, it's a lot a work but it's very rewarding. Prof Kennedy is very blunt and will tell you straight up what she expects to see from you. Her class isn't easy, but she'll help you so much to become a better writer you'll be glad you took her class.
I doubt she's a feminist. Tough teacher and i'm sort of a lazy person so i had to work my ass off and it was rewarding. glad i took this class. anal about texting in class. dont take if you wanna be lazy.

Kennedy K was the best english teacher I have ever had. Her class is hard, but it is worth it. You really learn a lot. She is a very interesting professor and she is very easy to get along with. I loved her class! ROCK ON KENNEDY K!
Seriously the best english teacher i've ever had in my years of schooling. Take her class. You learn a lot and she helps everyone out. But make sure you do the revisions. That's her number one thing.
Very hard material to understand, but she makes it crystal clear. Just take notes when she speaks! She is very hard in grading the papers, but she revises them and tells you what to fix! So an A is almost guaranteed as long as you fix what she told you to! Loved her. Very nice and down to earth, very personable as well!!
She made the class absolutely dreadful. She takes all creative control away from her students with her rigid essay guidelines. Do yourself a favor and stay away, take someone else because you will hate it. I personally wrote what an "A+ Paper", but because I did not quote in every paragraph, I have rewriten it 3 times now. STAY AWAY!!!!!!

The amount of work I did in this class does not equal the grade I received... You do one thing wrong and she will not pass your paper until its fixed. Do your self a favor and take a different professor. Very rude and should not be teaching
Everything had to be perfect and exactly the way she wanted it. Not a lot of room for mistakes.
Personally I really enjoyed Kennedy's class. If you are willing to put the time and effort in she will give you a good grade. Although, she is a hard grader she is very clear with what she wants and will help you if you need it. If you follow her instructions and do the essay revisions you will pass with no problem.
Do NOT take her. She would tell me exactly how to fix my papers and wgen I did it EXACTLY how she wanted, it STILL wasn't good enough for her. For my second paper, I chose the topic and SHE told told me what I should write about instead of what I wanted to write about. I had to drop her class. 1010 would NEVER want her again!
Mrs. Kennedy is a sad single feminist who's life revolves around english class. if you enjoy getting put down, critiqued, and told you cant write, take this woman's class. make sure you write papers exactly how she wants them and write your revisions exactly the way she wants. Horrible teacher!!!!! Absolutely no guidance. Our class began with 30 kids, more than half dropped the class. She really should NOT be teaching a college level class. I will never take her class again! If you want to actually pass this class, don't take her as your teacher.
Kennedys class was challenging and difficult at times but it would be a great experience if you really enjoy reading short stories. Does everything she can to guide her students in the right direction in order for them to succeed. Kennedy is a tough grader but if you are not ready for that then you shouldnt being taking a college level course.

Prof. Kennedy is a very inspiring professor. She made me, a science major, enjoy writing. Her feedback is very helpful and makes you feel good about your writing abilities. She offers chances to rewrite papers and always gives positive feedback even if the paper isn't initially passing. I'm glad I took her class.
Cried every day of the semester because I could write down my name and shed say its plagarism... started the class with 21 people and ended it with 7.... Lol. Do not take her!!! If you have to take the class take it with a different professor, different semester maybe a diffferent campus but NOTNWITH KATHLEEN
I can see why some people dislike Kennedy but if you put the time and effort into her class it is not bad. Unlike some Brookdale teachers she treats you as a real college student and expects your best work which turned me into a better writer and prepared me for a 4 year school. Her class is what you make it and I really enjoyed her class.
This class consists of easy free write quizzes before each class on the short story that was due for that day, 2 papers, and 1 final with an essay that asked questions regarding some of the short stories read throughout the semester. She also gives revision opportunities. I suggest following her revision notes to succeed on papers. Not THAT bad
Awful. Read her rates here before taking her and didn't think she would be too bad. I was wrong. She makes you feel stupid and told me my work was "crap." Ive never worked so hard for a class and felt so helpless. I went to her multiple times for help and she was less than cooperative. Please stay away.

Yeah, she's tough. Really tough. BUT- if you show up and do the work, she is really fair. She was able to meet with me outside of class to help, and plan on going to the Writing Center a few times to get help. After this class, though, I am now able to write college-level papers that get high marks in other classes.
Very good teacher. Her teach in ability is great. She gives you really good feedback that helps you shape and modify your paper. Best teacher I've come across by far.
Tells me that my essay are wrong every time I hand it in. Then I hand in my Intro for essay 2 in class. the next week she told me I didn't hand it in. I felt like she did that on proposes. Worse teacher I ever had.
One of the most caring professors i've ever had. She would go out of her way and email me when she knew I was struggling a and she would schedule time for us to work one on one together to make sure I would pass. I would take her again!
This woman doesn't seem to know what class she's teaching. She has a grading matrix where she puts checks in a number of categories. One of the papers had maybe 15 catagories, and I got the highest checks in all but 2. I got a 60. She's obsessed with getting everything exactly how she wants it. Someone else got much lower checks and also got a 60.
Properly the worst professor in Brookdale. If the essay is not done in her way. She would make you redo it. If I have to repeat 095. I would rather repeated it with another professor.
She demands too much work in a short amount of time. even when work is handed back there is an strict deadline to when it can be redone. this course is a work overload for the difficulty of the course itself.
She gives a lot of homework, has strict guidelines, and isn't afraid to voice her political opinions during lecture. Apparently having the same logical idea as someone and writing it down in your essay, is plagiarizing. If this happens, she'll make you rewrite the entire paper and/or the homework. Be prepared for an unnecessary amount of stress.
This was the toughest class i have taken. She expects too much from a 100 level class. This class stressed me to the point where i felt sick. If writing is not your strong suit this teacher will tear your writing apart. Over half the class dropped also she is VERY open about her political views. The only thing i gained from her class was stress.

A great teacher for 095! She made it easy breezy as long as you do all your assignments!
Shes a really good professor. She doesnt accept excuses or immaturity. You do what you need to and you will pass with no problem.
Only likes things done her way. Overbearing. Liberal, likes to flaunt her general knowledge of things. Provides clear criteria for assignments. That being said, she will hold your hand through every assignment, so much so that her guidance can become stifling. I felt very little freedom when completing assignments. I find her extremely frustrating
Kathleen Kennedy honestly cares about her students. At one point I had a totally different outlook on her and her class. I had a 16% halfway through the semester, and was able to bring it up to a 75%. She is an extremely tough grader, but shapes you up to be a well rounded writer. Make sure to keep up with ALLLLL homework, or you will STRESS.
I had to get major surgery and I was out 6 weeks. She worked with me and gave me any help or assistance I needed. She answers your emails quick and she cares about her students. But she is nice to the ones that work hard and take this class seriously
This professor so awful she use a chart to grade you. She doesnt use canvas to post your grades so you wont know if you are pass the class. So I warning you Now to not take her class at alllllllllllllllll. Worst professor ever
Won't lie, she is a hard grader but if you put in the effort you'll receive the grade you want. She is assessible outside of class and actually cares about her students. She tried her best to make class fun. We read some awesome short stories. Just hand in your stuff on time, she's super chill.

Her rubrics are very subject to what she wants and not to the paper at hand for example in a rubric it was "5 citations per paragraph no more then 6 sentences" the paper is more of a thesis this is one of many things but her rating speak

I really liked this Professor. I would for sure take her again. She is an amazing professor and really is helpful. She definitely is a no bs Professor but its needed in the ENGL 125 class in order to prepare students. Do the work, show up to class, and you will be golden! Oh and stay off your phone!
Ive had professor kennedy for two semesters now. At the start of the first semester it seemed like so much work but if you do your homework and show up to class its really not hard at all to get the grade you want. Show some effort and dont get distracted in class because she will call you out. She teaches you how to actually write which is nice

I took Kennedy's 121 class. At first, I thought must drop this class, because I had a failing grade at first. But then, I was given chances to revise and improve my paper. My grade drastically improved as a result. If you want to do well and learn how to write you must work hard for that. Take her class because it will help you learn how to write.
She is very caring, respected, hilarious, and fair. I would recommend her classes to anybody. I would definitely take her classes again.
Hardest and most awful Brookdale professor Ive had. Im a good writer and she is over critical, more than tough and a woman who never really cared about my mental difficulties I experienced, even with accommodations. I failed because of the stress, and her lack of empathy for my learning issues. Many drop her class, take my advice and AVOID HER!
Don't take her. Trust me. "No BS Work" is what she says, yea good one. Have to do about 30 different things just to be able to write your paper. Not allowed to have your own opinion. Every sentence has to be a paraphrase cited. Just take a different professor
Professor Kennedy's class was hands down the worst class I have ever taken. She is a lovely woman, very kind but has no place being in the education field. Her class was hard and unreasonable I am a straight-A student who proceeded to ignore the other negative reviews. The juice is nowhere near worth the squeeze take ANY other professor .

Professor Kennedy is a phenomenal teacher. She made it easy to go to her with any issues you have understanding an assignment. She encourages you to seek additional help from the online tutoring center; which was very very helpful. I'd definitely recommend her! Come prepare to learn and you'll do great in her class.
Amazing teacher! She will make sure you leave her class knowing things you did not know before coming to her class. The best teacher i ever had in my life! She is very caring and pushes you to work harder. Highly recommend!
When I first came on here and saw her reviews I was so scared to take the class. After being in her class all semester I am so happy that I stayed. She is an AMAZING teacher and gives so much feedback on essays. She has office hours almost everyday and is always willing to help. Do your homework and stay on track with due dates. 100% RECOMMEND!
Mrs. Kennedy is definitely a very nice woman but not when it comes to teaching and grading. Mrs. Kennedy pretends like she cares about your academics but really she doesnt at all. I would definitely avoid taking this class if you want to pass. But if you want to waste time and money, I would recommend her in a heart beat!
Out of all the professors I've had at Brookdale, Kennedy is one of the BEST professors I have ever had. I was not a liberal arts major but her expectations were clear. Do the work, and learn how to write properly. You cannot expect to type garbage and get a good grade for it. You MUST work for your grade. She is the only professor who teaches here.
This professor created an unecessarly frustrating experience for me, and other students. She did not grade my work in a timely manner and made me and others pay the price, all but forcing us to drop out. She did not use our long class time well, instead making the class suffer through long tangest and side assignments.

No matter when you do the homework for the class, it always seems to me like I did everything and then she mentions something that I didn't know was assigned. It's so hard to keep up with everything. I will never ever want to take a class with this woman ever again.
A nice lady in a way, gives too much homework and unnecessary work. Class began with 20ish people and more than half dropped. She refused accommodate a students 504 plan and told him he was bound to fail. Overall, would not recommend taking her class.

She has no regard that students have other classes and she continues to assign thirty assignments per week that don't even matter. She grades way to harshly and doesn't seem to care about students outside lives. Take ANY other professor if you want to pass.
I heavily advise you not to take this class unless it is "by itself". She is a very tough grader. You will work 30+ hours or even more time a week to get the grade you deserve. Perhaps not even that amount of work will suffice. She has prepared me well for other courses I have taken at Brookdale. But I will say I learned a lot from her class.
Kennedy is difficult but amazing! You get so much information from that class and I still use it today. She helped me learn to write a top notch research paper and truly cared about how I did in her class. If you don't have the time or energy to put in the work to do good then don't take this class. However if you do then you won't regret it.
She is the worst I asked her for help many times only helped me for 30 mins which i needed more time. I kept asking her what i needed to do to boost my grade she never gave me answers she would make me redo stuff and still gave me the same grade she failed me when i tried extremely hard and went for help all the time.
Class was pretty easy including the content but the professor was questionable. Basically told us that from the beginning that are grades were gonna be low-balled and would gradually increase as we re-submit our assignments. That sounds like to me she wanted it to make it look like she was a good teacher.
Gives way too much homework. They're not that hard but time consuming. Spend weeks writing and re-writing the same essays. She has personal gripes with students and can be quite rude. Not much consideration for the time of her students, as along with the homework she forced students to seek writing help outside her classroom. Tough grader too.
Kennedy is the kind of professor that is more demanding than most professors you'll take at a 4 year school. I got A's in orgo I and II. She grades incredibly harsh, even if you learn something you realize her grading scale is rather unreasonable. You could have 5's in every category and a F in one category bringing down your paper down to a D.
Nice person but would not recommend taking this class if you have any other class that requires a lot of work. She's a very tough grade and make re write essays and give out a lot of time consuming work, no regard for any other classes your taken and expects all her work done. Professor Kennedy is very straightforward. She lets you know from day one that the class is tough and attendance is mandatory. She gives TONS of homework, but each assignment helps tremendously in writing the actual research paper. VERY nice woman, but the class is not easy by any means!! I found it difficult to keep up with other my classes.
She cares for people deeply but she is a very hard grader She was not my favorite at first she barely helped you but towards the ends she really helped me She gives a lot of good feedback and i definitely learned a lot but i would not recommend her class nor would i take her class again
Genuinely the most difficult English class I've ever taken at brookdale her grading is unbelievably harsh and the entire semester i was grateful to receive a 65. I would never recommend this on anyone. Stay safe!
This class was actually interesting. She wants her students to get back into the habit of reading again, hence the name of the course, “The Short Story.” You are assigned to read 1–3 short stories each week, and the class will have an open discussion about them. You will fail if you do not read them! Pop quizzes will be given if you don't.
Professor Kennedy is tough but cares about her students. The workload can be heavy, but she provides great feedback to help you improve. unstuck ai was a lifesaver for study prep - highly recommend using it along with the textbook.
Very difficult, really tough grader, became grateful for 60+ most of the time but is very caring and will work with you to improve. Still, as a hardworking student, it was hard to achieve a high grade. Attendance is a must but is very helpful, she is very clear and helpful with overdue work

A lot of time consuming work outside of class
Kennedy is overall a great teacher. However, she can be firm about her methods of learning. She gave a lot of resources in Canvas, which was awesome! Although, wasn't very accessible outside of class. The work was tedious at times, so you need to be committed! I learned a lot from this class and it helped me grow! ✌ Go to the Writing Center too!
I found this professor to be an incredibly harsh grader and her lectures are minimally helpful because instead of answering questions when they are asked she says she'll get to them later and it's about 50/50 if she actually does. There is very little room for your own work on her papers because she has a set idea of how to use each source.
Halfway through the class and it has been difficult. Busy work assignments, she overcomplicates simply finding sources and using it as evidence in the paper and assigns a slew of pointless homework assignments to go with it, maybe it helps others but not for me. everything needs to be her way to get full credit for hw, can agree with other comments
if work isn't done her way like the you'll find yourself resubmitting the work over and over and eventually falling behind. she'll give feedback but nit pick little things. it should be simple as finding sources, making an outline, and write your paper. makes the papers harder as you find yourself playing catch up with busy work.
This professor is absolutely ridiculous. If you do not do the assignments exactly to her liking she will dock you a ton of point and won't let you submit the final paper that all the assignments were for. This class is a headache.
Half of the class is "not ready to write" their paper due to her criteria. Last class, 8-10 people were "ready to write" out of a 20-25 person class. Once you are "ready" you have to include 5 citations per paragraph while also trying to fit 12 paragraphs in 5 pages. 6 pages would make it so much easier as well as less citations.
It is very easy to fall behind in this class, and even one week or one assignment missed will give you a lot of stress. There is a lot of work assigned each week, and it is hard to keep up with the demand. She is a nice lady but tough when it comes to grading. If you work hard, you can get an OK grade.
She's nice, but her essay requirements can sometimes not be clear. This whole class is just essays as well as pop quizzes, so if you miss class I hope you're prepared to have a failing grade! She is not very helpful either, she just takes thing as they are and doesn't seem to look out for you. VERY harsh grader as well. Don't really recommend.
