Gives students every opportunity to get an A and have fun while doing it, but it does take some work.
She's awesome! I highly reccomend taking this class from her!
Absolutely awesome! She doesn't give you any chance to regret/hate the class (or school for that matter)!

Amazing professor! Very approachable. As other reviewers have said, she tries to make the material as fun as possible and gives you ample opportunity to do well.
Easy to approach, answers questions or gets back to you if she doesn't know the answer. Tests are hard and can be tricky. Lots of chances to pass this class with a high grade.
She's nice. I had her when she was taking over for a retiring professor so she didn't seem to be all together with the material. She used his tests and they were difficult. She used her own test once and was very clear and easy to understand.

Dr. Marrs is the coolest. She is a lot like a mom to the students, but not in a nagging way. She really cares. The tests are hard, but it is possible to get an A on them. The only way to fail the class is to miss tests or not to do the little extras she builds into the course.
Dr. Marrs is an excellent teacher. She tries really hard to grab the classes attention. You really have to work your butt off to study for her tests...and watch out for test 2 ...it's a doozie!
She's so fun to be in class with, and one of the nicest enthusiastic teachers I've come across. I love the way she talks. Her tests are hard though, but it's possible to do well in the class. I got a 68,72,94 on her tests and a 80,62 on her lab exams and still ended up with an A- in the class. Only about 10% of the people get A's however with h
Very nice teacher! very kind, don't like the teaching style though, the tests are not real hard. Just study a little bit harder you will get a A. she is really like a mom.
She is a nice person and tries to make class fun for you. I scored well on her tests, but there are plenty of quesitons that take "application" of your knowledge (and there are some nitpicky questions). If you go to each class and study a little, you can get an A.
Great personality, makes a hard subject fun. Class is not easy though. You must know the Powerpoints in and out. Tests are very hard multiple choice. Be prepared to work hard, but enjoy the class as well.
Dr. Marrs is amazing! She is a great professor and makes biology even more awesome than it already is. She is very funny and the way she talks is so cool!
she has a very enthusiastic teaching style, She enjoys what she is doing.
I was going to be a biology major but decided biology was not for me. However I really enjoyed her course and wish I could take more classes from professors such as her. She likes what she does and does it well.
Dr. Marrs is awesome. I loved her class. It's not a hard class, but there is a lot of information. Tests would be difficult if you were not prepared, but it's your own fault if your not prepared because she offers more than enough help and information on tests.
Great professor with an upbeat attitude. Her enthusiasm rubs off on you. She's a good teacher, too, and very open with individual help. She knows how to explain concepts, and does a good job of it
Loved her!! One of the best teachers you could ask for. She's interested in what she's teaching and loves to teach which makes the class interesting. She's really sweet and very approachable.
I <3 Dr. Marrs!! This class is rough for a 100-level, but her attitude makes all the difference. You HAVE to show up to lectures; they outline all the tests. Exams are always multiple choice but questions are sometimes really tricky... she's always willing to help you get a good grade. If you try, you'll get an A.
Lectures: very interesting, Tests: 2 is impossible, and overall very difficult, Homework is a bit inane and probably overkill, Lab is mostly interesting. she's an amazing woman and professor, despite her roots and associations with the evils of biotechnology and genetic modification of foodstuffs. she's encouraging, supportive, attentive, chatty
Love her!
Great teacher, It's a weed out class so I wasn't expecting it to be really easy but I'm not going to switch my major becuase of it
somewhat disorganized. when a chapter is covered you don't move on, it may still be covered in lab, or if you are on chapter 6, the recitation section will be covering ch 7, she is nice but it is more scattered than most classes
Exceptional
One of the best professors I've had! Exams are fair and parallel lecture notes. It's obvious she loves to teach and provides a great atmosphere for learning biology.
Dr. Marrs is a great Professor , she teaches and clarfies everything very well and easily and I liked her class
Dr. Marrs is awesome. Kinda goofy, but funny and a really good, friendly teacher. Definitely deserves a 5.0
GREAT professor! Very funny and tells you exactly what you need to know! You have got to study on your own. Again, wonderful professor!
Very easy to understand
Very helpful
Fantastic teacher, gets really excited about the material, constantly pulls in real world applications etc
Do not miss taking bio from Dr Marrs!
Dr. Marrs is such a caring teacher and she makes whoever she's talking with feel like they have her unwavering attention. That's amazing with all of the students she sees every day. She is amazing. Easily one of the best professors I have ever met in my LONG college career.
Obviously loves and cares a lot about what she teaches and is very helpful. Bio 101 is interesting but challenging
Way too difficult for a 100 level class especially for a nonbio student. AVOID if possible.
Her class is not too hard as others have said. Just read the textbook and attend class and you'll do fine!
Dr. Marrs is by far one of my top 5 professors; however her exams are difficult. I think it's her level of passion and compassion for teaching. Not much else to say because she is such a great professor!!!
Great professor. Knowledgable and very lighthearted. Lectures are funny and often fun. Learning is easier this way! Awesome.
Very sweet, helpful professor, and also very easy (you honestly can ace every test without even going to lecture). My only issue is that since the next bio class with Yost is quite a bit more intense, I think she should do something to prepare her students so they don't have such a big transition form 101 to 103.
I simply loved Dr. Marr's! She is so passionate about her lectures and if you pay attention and read before class you will do fine in the class! Her tests are hard and tricky but if you pay attention in class she gives tons of hints! This class requires a lot of work to do well.
Dr. Marrs is the best! Tests, notes, and labs are straightforward. You could get by skipping a lecture every once in awhile, but definitely attend lecture. If you had AP Biology in high school, this class will be cake.
She is a great professor and she loves her job. She turns some of the most boring topics into the most interesting by the way she teaches. I enjoyed this class.
Tons of points available in this course! That being said, the exams were extremely difficult for me and most I talked to. I either got a "D" or "F" on every exam leading up to the final and I still had a "C" going into it. Final is all memorization for the most part, do well on it and you can easily get a "B" even with exam grades like mine.
She was incredibly enthusiastic! Great teacher that kept my interest.
Great professor! I would recommend re-listening to her lectures on istream!! She makes the class fun and gives opportunities for extra credit (10 points max) If you put in the time, the class isn't bad at all!!
She is a very sweet teacher but I had a class of 500 hard to learn on powerpoint slides with that big of class. Hard to get an A easy to get a C.
She's one of the nicest, most interesting of teachers. Although most of my friends, as well as myself, failed nearly every exam, we managed to pull C's out. Definitely worth taking, but prepare to have your GPA dip a little.
Prof Marrs is so enthusiastic about this class and offers so much help to her students. She is teaching a weed out class so of course the class isn't the easiest for everyone, but she provides a lot of resources to help out. I think she is absolutely fabulous!! If you get a bad grade in this class, it isn't because she is a bad teacher!
She is a wonderful teacher and person! She is very patient and goes through concepts well and slowly. She always tried to put a joke or two in lecture to wake us up! She started my passion for biology. Her husband as a teacher not so great though!
I loved Dr. Marrs as a teacher. This was an easy class, if you actually studied everything on test was on powerpoint notes. There was no outside questions. I thought lab quizzes were hardest part of class, be prepared for those. Take notes on paper, a lot of young kids use laptops and can't remember anything they learned. Observation I saw.
Dr. Marrs was my absolute favorite professor EVER. Although her class is indeed hard, has lots of information in a short amount of time, and difficult exams, if you study at least a week before the exams, get all your lab and recitation points, you can manage at least an A. Dr. Marrs is one of the sweetest, most caring, and genuine person at IUPUI
I took Honors 101 aka 102. Dr. Marrs is the absolute best person I have met at IUPUI. She is super personal and extremely helpful. She is very direct in preparing you for the tests and is very fair and willing to work with you. She posts notes online and the exams are directly from that. Super easy final (direct from study guide) GREAT CLASS!!!!
Dr.Marrs is an awesome professor and is very caring towards her students. However this is a very hard class so expect to study a lot!
By far my favorite professor on campus. She tries to make lectures enjoyable and frequently makes in-class quizzes open note/friend. Expect to study often, especially for "the dreaded exam 2". I took this class for honors credit, and it was the best class I could have chosen to do so - very open to new ideas and staying current.
Dr. Marrs is a great professor and is very interested in her job! She cares for her students and is willing to help you if you need it! Expect a lot of hard work when taking this class! Many hours of studying!
She's a nice lady, but her tests are hard. Expect to study at least 2-3 days in advance. I'd recommend reading the textbook and then going over her powerpoints, it'll make a lot more sense. Go to all the labs and recitations to get easy points that will boost your grade. Hard to get an A, easy to get a C. Note that she doesn't curve any exams.
She is probably one of THE best professors you will have throughout your college career. She actually wants you to succeed and is very helpful. She loves her students and her job. Definitely recommend taking Biology with her
I absolutely loved Dr Marrs. I took her honors class that tied into her first ever TLC. She has been my favorite professor thus far in college. The lectures are interesting, and she makes the material come to life. Study maybe a week ahead for the exams. The last lab practical was my favorite. I'm telling you, MAKE FLASHCARDS.
I took this class while Dr. Marrs and Dr. Martin Vaughan decided to try and teach the course together. Out of the two she was much more clear.
A pretty good teacher and you can tell she genuinely cares for her students. Her tests are mostly on the slides so I would rarely go to the book unless it's for clarification. The class is rigorous and requires a good deal of studying but take it seriously and it will be fine.
Dr. Marrs was wonderful! She was very helpful and made the material interesting.
Dr. Marrs is a saint. But if you take honors you will really want to hate her. Her tests are multiple choice with 4 bonus points, but all the questions are application-based instead of definitions or anything like that. You should take the class, but visit the BRC.
She's awesome! Go to class, do the extra credit, and do the practice tests. The final was the exact practice test. Word for word. If you need help talk to her. She's very understanding and will set up time to work with you. She posts all the power points. I never opened the book.
Amazing Professor! Dr. Marrs truly loves teaching biology. She is very inspirational regarding her interest and love of biology. She does great making her own powerpoints and test preps. She truly is a great and professional professor. I did not find class hard because she kept it so interesting.
This class will take up a lot of your time.
Dr. Marrs is my favorite professor I have had at IUPUI. She is so nerdy and I LOVE it! She is really passionate about Biology and makes me passionate and excited about it too. She wants students to succeed and tries her absolute best to help them do so. If you want an A you will have to work for it, but she makes it so much more enjoyable.
Awesome, super nice and smart!
Dr. Marrs is the best professor I had during my studies at IUPUI.
The tests are really hard, but that is the nature of the class as it is a 5 credit hour class. Dr. Marrs makes the lectures interesting, and if you need help makes herself available and provides you with the necessary resources to succeed. She is very passionate about the subject, so that makes it easy for her to clarify different material.
Her tests are pretty straightforward and essentially derived from the powerpoints in class. I read the chapters as well and aced all but one of the exams. The final is super easy as it is basically the same as the practice test. Make sure to start out strong to give yourself a little leeway later on. Overall pretty easy class if you study some
Because Dr. Marrs and Dr. Vaughn teach the class together, Dr. Marrs outshines Vaughn as a teacher. She is extremely helpful and WANTS YOU TO PASS! You just have to put yourself out there to receive help.
She has great lectures and truly cares about what she teaches. She curves the tests but you have to be prepared to study. Overall, she is fantastic!
She knows how to explain things really well. She makes her test based on the powerpoint from lecture. Pay attention closely to what she talks about in lecture. If she spends a lot of time talking about it, you better know it! She likes adding tricky questions on the test. Just study the material given she is very helpful if you have questions!
Great professor, explains material in a way that is easy to understand. Gives opportunities for extra credit. Tests are not easy if you are not that interested in biology.
I was most fearful of this class for my first semester of college and Dr. Marrs has made it very stress-free. She is very willing to answer any and all questions you may have and she is very flexible with how she runs class according to what her students need.
She is a great professor and really cares. While the material can sometimes be difficult its not that difficult to get an A if you apply yourself. If you ever have problems there is the Biology resource center, recitation leaders, and Dr. Marrs and Dr. Vaughn have office hours they are happy to use. I loved her and she remains one of my fav profs.
Dr. Marrs has such a great personality and makes this Bio-101 enjoyable unlike her co-professor Dr. Vaughn. They are polar opposites! But despite Dr. Vaughn's incomitance as an instructor, Dr. Marrs is outstanding! Tests are pretty straight forward, powerpoints have all the info. If you do your work you will have no problem getting a good grade.
She is an amazing professor, by far the best professor I have had so far. The first two tests were somewhat difficult because I did not find a good way to study but by the third test I started going over all the chapter objectives and now the class is totally fine.
She is so helpful. She is nice and approachable. Great prof.
Dr. Marrs is such a nice person and professor. She actually shows that she wants each of her students to pass and that she cares for them. When she teaches, it's clear to understand what's going on and she makes sure everyone knows what will be on exams. She is nothing like Dr. Vaughn and she really should just teach K101 by herself.
Dr. Marrs is one of the sweetest human beings I have ever come in contact with. She really wants everyone to succeed and have fun during her lectures. The tests are definitely doable and the final is extremely easy (the K102 lab is another story). I will miss her next semester!
Dr. Marrs is a great professor. She has a real passion for biology and she wants her students to succeed. The class was tough, but it's possible to get a good grade with studying. Make sure to study the slides Dr. Marrs posts - I made flashcards from the info on the slides and it really helped for exams. She offers extra credit opportunities, too.
Dr. Marrs was a great professor! She's very kind and has a genuine interest in the success of her students.
I took the 9 AM lecture and never had a problem staying awake when she lectured. You could tell she actually knew what she was talking about without reading off the slides.
I absolutely love Marrs and was really sad to see this semester end. I wish I could take another class with her because her teaching style is pretty amazing. If you go to lectures, you will for sure leave understanding a majority of the chapter. That doesn't mean though that you won't have to study, studying is a must if you want to pass.
Lecture is not necessary, lab certainly is!! Make sure to read book along with PowerPoints online. All of the tests come from the PowerPoint!!! Study those and you'll do fine. Don't put too much effort into this class.
Shes super nice and fun. Easy class, just sudy.
Dr. Marrs is a great professor and really makes biology fun. Specifically for K102, she does a great job of setting up cool labs for her students to do and is always reasonable with grading. I would definitely take a class with her again.
Dr. Kathleen Marrs is a fantastic professor, she is brilliant and very kind. She treats her students with respect as if they were peers, she is down to earth and always is willing to give a helping hand, she also tries hard to relate with her students. I hope in the future I will have her again.
Dr. Maars is super sweet and always willing to help outside the class. She's easy to talk to. I thought the breakfast club was a great way to review the material and meet with her outside the classroom.
great professor, clearly loves teaching
Top notch professor, manages to make even the most comprehensive subjects in the course seem more manageable. Lectures make sense and move at a natural pace, if you've got a choice, choose Dr. Marrs.
The understanding the material would be better if you taught at a specific time and Dr. Vaughn taught at a specific time. It's difficult because there are two different teaching styles.
Professor Marrs is a great choice for a biology teacher. She is somewhat quiet when using a mic so choose a seat in the front, but be there everyday and you'll really enjoy biology.
Dr. Marrs is my favorite professor that I have ever had. She loves to help her students, she wants to see her students succeed, and she gives one ATP extra credit. Also, she is so inspirational and she makes her students interested in Biology and about the life around us.
Dr. Marrs always gets really into her lectures and it's impossible to not pay attention.
They're patient and caring when it comes to your personal life and your grades. I loved the course!
Dr. Marrs was by far the best professor I had at IUPUI. I loved her lectures and learned a lot from her. She is so caring about every student and wants everyone to do well. Lab and Recitation are mandatory attendance, but you could be able to skip lecture, (but there are clicker questions). Powerpoints, lecture notes and recitation are keys to an A
I loved Kathy, she is such an amazing professor I do not think I could find a professor quite like her so amazing, helpful, caring, funny, and passionate about her class. She will definitely help you if you just ask, the test are not hard if you just study. The thing that helped me the most was to not procrastinate. I love biology thanks to her.
absolutely adorable
She is a very good teacher. She will help you with anything and she is really easy to talk to.
Good teacher and very understanding when it comes to homework
Very nice and always willing to answer questions. Her lectures are helpful and she is good at explaining difficult concepts.
She's great
Dr. Marrs is one of the most amazing professors I have ever had (from 3 different schools). She is nothing but caring, helpful, and inspirational. She provided me with so much confidence in myself and opportunities past k101. 10/10 would recommend or would take again.
Dr. Marrs cares about all her students. She wants each and every one of them to achieve their fullest and she is willing to work with you to help you succeed. On the other hand she expects each of her students to do their best. She doesn't make her tests hard to the point that you cannot succeed, she simply requires you work hard.
Dr. Marrs is really considerate and very clear in lecture as long as you pay attention. Don't skip class for no reason, but you can survive if you have to.
Very sweet! Study the powerpoint slides and you'll do fine.
My only major issue with Dr. Marrs is that, she barely ever teaches!! She's gone a lot of the time. Vaughn and Marrs share BIOK101 and Vaughn usually is teaching. She is a great teacher, when she is actually there. Other than that, her teaching method is wonderful.
Dr. Marrs is a phenomenal professor. You can get through all of the exams by studying the PowerPoints. If it isn't on the PPs, its not on the exam. I generally went through & answered all of the objectives at the end of each PP before the exam. Watch out for small things on PPs (Marrs likes those). Don't cram. Go to recitation, its worth it. Enjoy!
Dr. Marrs is an excellent professor. Taking microbiology lab with her was the best decision. It was by far my favorite class this semester, and definitely my most favorite lab throughout my entire 4 years at IUPUI.
Great professor!
She's the best
Dr. Marrs is an amazing professor. She makes all concepts really easy to understand and is always willing to help students be successful in whatever way that needs to be. Most of the exams are straight from the powerpoints.. which she posts all of them. She is funny, makes it interesting, and she is just plain awesome!!
She is so passionate about what she does! If you put the time into the class, you will have no problems coming out with an A. She wants you to do well, like a lot. Make sure you know all the stuff on the PPT slides, that is basically what the tests are based of.
She's awesome. Cares about all her students.
Good professsor and an amazing teacher.
Great professor! Strongly recommend her to anyone interested in taking bio! She's a really nice and approachable person. She has a silly side to her as well. She's just an amazing person and professor in general who deeply cares for her students' success.
Dr. Marrs is a fantastic educator. She is great at explaining biology and is more than happy to work with anyone who needs help. A lot of the course is based on the Pearson modules, so read and do the online modules and you'll be set.
She is definitely a gem and you will never find a professor as caring as her. She had 600 students but still managed to show her care and give a piece of her heart to every single one of them, including me. I will never forget her and will strive to achieve a personality and education as priceless as hers.
Good Biology professor. Makes it very clear what material you will be tested on and she is very good at making very complex material easy to understand. I highly recommend.
would recommend this professor to others
Dr. Marrs is really great and this class is generally easy if you just go to lectures and use the power points to study. The exams are very heavily based on material in the power points so those are the best for studying. You'll also do better if you just go to the lectures because she'll tell you specifically what's important to study.
Dr. Marrs is great! She does most of the lecturing and is very helpful if you have any questions!
I loved her, she is my favorite professor by far.
Kathy was one of my favorite professors I have ever had, in both schools I've been to. This is the only class she teaches that I will take which I am really sad about. She was very nice and understanding about everything and has fun with you!
I love Dr. Marrs, not gonna lie. She really made my first semester of college an awesome one, and having her as my lab instructor made everything better. She genuinely loves her students and wants to see them succeed. I couldn't have asked for a better freshman biology professor. Dr. Marrs is one of the best instructors at IUPUI.
Dr. Marrs is a great lecturer. You can tell she is very passionate about Biology and her attitude makes you want to be engaged and follow along during lecture. If I could take this class again, I wouldn't buy the book. It's still wrapped and unopened. It came six weeks into the semester and I already became adjusted to studying without it.
Explain concepts well.
great teacher
I love Dr. Marrs she is very nice and easy to talk to, in the lecture just listen to what she mention and follow her power points. read the book if the power point dose not make sense to you, read ahead and you will be fine. prepare for the exams, lab and recitation not that hard to get an A, K101 need a lot of hard work and time.
Be prepared to work hard, but she's a great lady!
Prof Marrs is very passionate about biology, cares about you learning, very approachable and respectful. A really caring professor that is also reasonable when it comes to grades and tests.
Dr. Marrs is an amazing lecturer! I enjoyed every class. There are no grey areas, they give you everything you need to succeed in class you just have to use your resources and work hard to earn a good grade!
Dr. Marrs is one of the best professors I've had, she is genuinely caring and very respectful. I would highly recommend taking this class with her, she has lots of opportunities for extra credit and is very enthusiastic about her lectures (as well as the musical Hamilton)! The textbook is occasionally used, but definitely study for the exams!
Dr. Marrs is a great professor and makes sure you understand the concepts of k101, she has good office hours and wants to see you succeed, if you have took AP Bio in HS then this 5 credit hour class should be a no stress easy A
Dr. Maars is very caring and makes sure students pass by providing study sessions and being available for students.
Dr. Marrs is one of the best professors you will meet at IUPUI and probably in your whole academic career. She's very passionate about her job and teaching, and you can see that she genuinely cares for her students. I would love to take a class with her again and would recommend her to any student.
Details, patience
Dr. Marrs is truly a wonderful professor and individual. She has a passion for teaching and it doesn't go unnoticed. Have you ever had one of those teachers that is just so nice, you wanted them to be your friend? If you have no idea what I'm talking about, take this class and you will. One of my favorite professors that I've ever had.
attend every lecture because she gives a lot of points based on attendance/participation and complete the dynamic study modules/go to BRC before each test
Dr. Marrs is the best. She is so nice and easy to talk to.. study for the exam and use the textbook or the power point. Listen to what she mention in the class and you will be doing good. Good luck with K101 :)
Dr. Marrs was a great professor. She is very understanding and very clear on topics. Pay attention during lecture and study your power points and you will have no problems. I would definitely take a course with her again and will look to try to in the future.
Dr. Marrs is an extremely caring professor and does her best to prepare new students for college. On top of this she still finds a way to make the work stress-free and rewards every student for their hard work.
She is not bad, but I think she should improve how she teach her lecture class. She will always tell you "study with my power points" but from my experience, I advice you to read the book as well! Also, do the practices tests and quizzes from the book, it will help you a lot! Good luck.
Very interesting lectures and easy to understand. That's all I could ask for.
Dr. Marrs is the BEST professor I've had. I had her in K101 and now micro lab K357 and she cares so much about teaching and her students.
Can rely solely on powerpoints to ace the test and the study guide for final. Tests are much easier than she says they are. Is an incredible lecturer and understands the material well. Makes herself available a lot, and consistently gives out announcements to make the course easier. Do not worry too much about the exams being as difficult as stated
Shes a gem. So so so sweet. The class is hard but it is supposed to be, and she makes us practice exams and makes power points over what we got wrong on the test and how to fix it for the future.
Great professor! She was so helpful when it came to feedback for tests and material. She usually gives back points on tests. Lab and recitation attendance was mandatory while the lecture was not, but they still used Tophat as an attendance tool. Great overall!
Dr. Marrs is honestly the professor I will miss the most. She was kind and thoughtful, and she made classes fun. Every Friday was a Fun Friday... and they really were fun. We often sang a song from Hamilton for those days. If you make yourself known to her, she may even give you a Christmas present!
My favorite teacher so far at IUPUI extremely nice, gets through info you need at a fast but good pace. Always giving extra info not in test but in regards in how it applies today. Very outgoing and will be happy to talk with anyone. You wanna be friends with her!
shes such an amazing women and will do anything to help you get the grade you need.
Dr. Marrs is an amazing professor! She cares really deeply for most students and wants to see them succeed. The class is a little challenging, but it isn't too overwhelming. Her lectures are fun and interesting. She makes sure you understand what you need to know for exams. She also provides donuts on Friday mornings for Breakfast Club!
Dr. Marrs is an amazing professor. Bio in general was a very hard class. I went and talked to her outside of class and she was so kind and really helped me to a lot better on the tests. Great professor.
Overall, this was a good course and Dr. Marrs was a good professor. At moments it was a tough class. I certainly spent a lot more time studying for this class compared to the time I spent on any of my other classes this semester.
Dr. Marrs is a wonderful professor, and genuinely cares about the students in her classes. She's great at explaining concepts, and understands that the material is difficult. I wouldn't have wanted to take this class with any other professor.
If you study from power point slides and go to lecture, recitation, and lab, you will do just find in this class.
Dr. Marrs is a wonderful professor and person. She provides lots of inspiration and one-on-one help if you arent doing too well in her class. The lectures were very enjoyable to attend since she is very upbeat and passionate about what she teaches. I would love to have her as a professor again!
Dr. Marrs is one of the best professors I have ever had! I loved attending her lectures as she was very thorough and was great at explaining the concepts. She is sweet as can be and really cares about her students. I would definitely take another one of her classes in the future!
Great professor, cares about her students, tries to have many activities outside of class
Dr. Marrs was great and was one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She always made time to listen to everyone and give them feedback. She made my first semester of college feel super welcoming and if I ever have the chance to take a class with her again, I will!
She is honestly the sweetest human being I've ever met and actually cares about you and your grade and in general wants everyone to succeed. She posts her lecture slides and everything on the exams are on those slides.
Dr. Marrs is a caring, dedicated professor who wants her students to like what theyre studying. I enjoyed all her lectures and tried my personal best to stay motivated during some passive topics; Mrs. Marrs always made it as interesting as possible! I hope to be in one of her other courses too, I highly recommend her! Thank you Dr. Marrs!
Get ready to memorize. Everything that you will have to know on any test will be from the powerpoint to memorize. Class is organized. Yet, I feel like its structured awkwardly. Everyone loves Dr. Marrs, I didn't really enjoy her vibe. Easy as hell. If you're not getting an A on the exams, you're doing something wrong. Reflect on it.
Great professor, exams are just tough.
Dr. Marrs is an excellent professor and a caring person. She gives lots of little test hints during lecture, and the tests are straight from the lecture PowerPoints which are posted on Canvas. It's just a lot of memorization, though. Dr. Marrs makes lecture fun and loves Nobel Prize week and sharing interesting news stories that she finds.
Dr. Marrs is an amazing professor and a wonderful person. She has a true passion for biology which is evident in the way she conducts her lectures, and her positive energy is contagious. She makes it very clear which material will be on exams, and all test material is pulled directly from lecture PowerPoints, which are easily accessible on Canvas.
Dr. Marrs is an amazing woman and amazing teacher! She is always there to help if need be or to just talk and get to know her students. My time for k101, especially for incoming freshmen is to study!!! I came into this class thinking I didn't need to study because I took AP bio and this is not the case. Do yourself a favor and use the study area
Dr. Marrs is truly one of the best professors you will ever have. She cares about the success of her students both in K101 and in general, and will do anything she can to help students if they're struggling. The exam material is straight from her PowerPoints, so if you are willing to put in the time and effort to study, you are sure to do well!
Dr. Marrs is the sweetest professor you will have! She is willing to help you in anyway to help you pass. She is also very straight forward with what she expects of you and does not accept less. The exams are kind of challenging, but manageable if you study effectually. She always is prompt with putting grades in and quick to fix a mistake.
I literally adore this woman. She's incredibly sweet and she makes herself available to her students that need extra help. Breakfast clubs were pretty helpful, too (especially if you want brownie points lol). Just come to class and take notes, go over the general topics beforehand, and take advantage of all the resources she posts to canvas.
She is honestly a real teacher. She's caring, funny, dorky, and adorable. There's also extra credit opportunities and as long as you do fine on the lab (also extra credit) and attend recitation (will definitely get an A most likely) you will still end up with a solid score, just make sure not to slack off!
Amazing professor. Easy A if you pay attention and study and power points.
Dr. Marrs has been one of my favorite professors in my college experience. She is funny and really cares about students' grades. She is always willing to talk with students outside of class and is really easy to get to know. Her lectures are super clear and understandable, and she gives lots of interesting facts to go with the textbook knowledge.
Dr. Marrs is easily the nicest prof Ive ever had in college. She really wants each and every student to succeed and loves meeting new students. Easy class as long as you put in some time and effort. I have failed to show to lecture for a week, but I read the book and powerpoints are super helpful. dont skip or youll miss key info/tophat pts.
Dr. Marrs is the best professor I've had at IUPUI hands down. She's so helpful and so approachable and I loved every minute of her class. She really cares about you and wants you to succeed. She always answered all my questions and was always down to give out the best advice.
Dr. Marrs is one of the most caring professors that I have ever had. You know that she wants you to do well in her class and her lectures are really enjoyable.
Dr. Marrs is amazing! Makes biology a very fun subject and makes silly jokes here and there which having me dying inside but I hold it in with my grins. Do your part and you will succeed. YOU CANNOT CRAM BIOLOGY MATERIAL, trust me I tried recently due to being clustered with my other science courses and stress and did terrible.
Really amazing lectures, provides a lot of resources, you have to study though
Dr. Marrs gives you everything you need to know to pass her exams! Four exams throughout the semester, cumulative final. If you attend class you will do well! Definitely not an easy A, but she breaks down the information so you really understand it!
she was cool just atendence killed me
Dr. Marrs makes biology VERY exciting. Need I say more? She is not just an awesome professor but an amazing person.
She's a wonderful professor and wonderful person! Always energetic and encouraging. And she is approachable. Offers many ways to help student and making sure they pass the course. Go to lectures, use the resources offered, and you'll be aokay!
Great teacher and mentor!
Dr. Marrs is an awesome teacher. She really cares about her students and wants you to understand what she is teaching. She loves Hamilton so be ready to sing in class! This is a teacher who will make you love the biology class you are in. I highly recommend her.
Great professor, super sweet and nice. She lectures well and makes things understandable. As long as you listen to the kalturas or look at the powerpoint objectives, you will pass. But go to lecture- it'll only help!
Dr. Marrs is a great professor, I remember times when shed stay after lectures ended to re-explain and entire concept to any students who were still not understanding. There are so many opportunities to get extra credit, so take them. And shes very approachable and actually wants to know her students, so dont be afraid to ask questions.
Dr. Kathy Marrs is...... AMAAAAAZZZZZZIIIIIINGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!
Dr. Marrs is one of the best profs I've ever had! She makes biology exciting and is so funny and caring. She wants everyone to get a good grade and will answer any questions you have. She's a real gem and I wish I could take more of her classes. Study hard for exams! (Summer class is fast paced but still easy peasy).
She makes biology easy on you as a new student, but be ready for what the rest of the classes hold. Don't take her for granted she's awesome and makes it very easy to get an A (only a 90% to get an A). I suggest reading the book as well as the objectives before each lecture, after that its repetitive in lecture + recitation and you ace the exams.
Dr. Marrs rocks, and if you need an honors credit I definitely recommend doing it with bio 101, everything is the same except for the lab, and you dont have to do almost any of the quizzes in honors. 10/10
Very nice professor! Took this class my freshman year and she made the difficult class worth taking.
Dr. Marrs is a really great prof. She truly wants you to succeed. With lab, lecture, and recitation being all one grade, do not worry if you get a bad test grade. Her tests are not super difficult, but you do need to study powerpoints. If you are an honors student needing honors credit, I highly recommend honors bio. She will be your lab teacher.
Dr. Mars is wonderful and very passionate about biology. She is very helpful and great at explaining. Biol-k 101 is easy to succeed in if you attend class, recitation, and lab and do top hat questions and Mastering Bio. The material for tests are pretty straight forward - review powerpoints/objectives and study and it is pretty easy to succeed.
Dr. Marrs clearly cares about her students and has a great passion for intro biology. However, in lecture, she went on tangents which resulted in us always being behind. I also had her for lab. Enjoyable to have as a lab instructor, but there was very little structure and procedures were often unclear.
Dr. Marrs is very sweet and I would highly suggest getting to know her as she will personally try to memorize your name. She is very helpful and welcoming, so be sure to ask her questions. She can tend to get a little off-topic and behind, but overall she makes the class worthwhile and if you do everything asked you'll get a good grade.
Dr. Marrs is an AMAZING lecturer and even better as a person! I'm so grateful to have her during my first semester of college. She is very passionate about biology and tries not to dull anyone with her humor and random Hamilton parodies. She provides all the resources available to help you succeed and get an A in this course.
Super kind! She wants her students to pass. In the beginning of the semester, she gives clear guidance on what to do in order to pass the class. Even outside of class, she is willing to help. Keeps you interested during lecture, some extra credit. 10/10 highly recommend!
Loved Dr. Marrs!! She is amazing and definitely works with you and makes sure you understand if you are confused on any topic. She keeps it interesting and fun!
The class was harder for me because I have never been in a biology class like it before like everyone else in the course seemed too. I also have extreme test anxiety and struggled. There are other aspects of the class that improved my grade but it was hard.
hardest class I've ever taken. Dr. Marrs is the sweetest lady ever, she really cares about her student and will try to help you. if you're not willing to really study and waste your time like I did this semester, reconsider taking this course. You really have to work for this class.
Probably the kindest professor I've ever had. Dr. Marrs cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Unless Biology comes easy to you, you do need to study. But there are so many additional points from participation that if you have test anxiety, like me, you can still do well in the class. Go to lab and recitation- lots of points!
Study the powerpoints and use the book when clarification in needed. Use the Biology Resource Center, the mentors are a great help. The lectures are good. Dr. Marrs uses different medias to explain the topic (pictures, videos, and lecture). She is willing to answer questions and gives extra resources, like websites and articles, for the topics.
Dr. Marrs was one of the sweetest professors I've ever had. This was a very interesting class, and you can definitely succeed if you put the work in. Extra credit options are available as well. I would suggest doing the mastering bio as well, very helpful way to study.
Dr. Marrs is an amazing teacher. She connects the information to real life and makes it interesting. She also cares and wants her students to pass.
Dr. Marrs is one of the best Bio teachers I've had. She's always passionate about what she's talking about. She comes up with fun ways to remember things. She's so sweet and gives so many chances for extra credit!
She's great, and it is evident that she loves her job. Very clear about what you need to know and what is overkill, which is refreshing. Her enthusiasm makes me look forward to going to class.
Dr. Marrs is by far my favorite professor I have ever had at IUPUI. She truly cares about you as a student and wants you to get a good grade. I love her and would highly recommend taking a class with her. I would 100% take her again!
It's rare to find an educator that is truly passionate about their work. It's even rarer to find a passionate educator that is intelligent and can articulate their knowledge in an accessible way. Dr. Marrs knocks it out of the park on both criteria.
Dr. Marrs is a wonderful teacher, I learned a lot. The class is challenging because of the material, but if you take advantage of the resources, attend the lecture, and study you will succeed.
Dr. Marrs deserves all of her 4.8 stars. She makes the subject seem relatively simple. Come to class awake and you'll probably get an A. Being one of the best teachers here, she's also well-respected by students and staff. Good teacher + respected inspirational. Only con: Social justice and politics can occasionally slip into her lectures.
She will host fun extra study sessions every Friday. She is super accessible even outside of office hours. Overall fantastic and enthusiastic. She is the best into to bio can get.
I don't believe in the existence of angels. But if they do exist, I would not be surprised if Dr. Marrs was one of them. She's so patient and understanding and so much fun! Coming to class was always such a treat! Study the PowerPoints and go to the ExamJams and you'll be just fine.
Great person and fun. When COVID hit, she was understandable and she let us use notes on timed quizzes and on the finals. Be prepared to read and print out the powerpoints for each chapter. This class can be challenging if you are not good at biology; go to office hours and Bepko hours it will help.
Dr. Marrs is truly the best you can have for intro to bio! She is so sweet and will help with anything. If you're taking the class online, I recommend that you watch the Kaltura videos before you go to the lecture, and then you can take notes and ask questions you may have during the lecture. If you want an A, you must really work for it!
Dr. Marrs is an angel! She is one of the sweetest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting, especially in this covid-stricken world we're in. She's incredibly caring and understanding. My interest in biology was almost none when I started her class, but i'm coming out of it with a HUGE interest in the field. She has inspired me so much! 10/10
Dr Marrs is easily one of the best professors at IUPUI. I had her for BIO 101 and she was absolutely amazing. She is interactive and even on zoom her lectures hold my attention and she is able to answer all questions and explain the content. She gives practice tests and is very helpful. I will be taking more of her classes in the future!
She is super sweet and caring. I absolutely will be taking her again in the future.
I had an unpleasant experience with my high school biology teacher and felt quite defeated about learning biology. Dr. Marrs has clear explanations and makes sure her students are prepared for every class. While biology is one of my difficult classes I have this semester, I feel confident I can earn a low A/high B.
She is an amazing teacher and you would love to be in her class.
Pros: Open note exams Cons: I feel she spent too much of class time discussing current events/politics, etc.
Expectations are clear. The work assigned throughout the course is not too difficult. Dr. Marrs provides many resources for a successful semester. Show up prepared for lecture, get your assignments done and utilize the resources provided for a smooth semester. Ask questions! Many opportunities to be able to communicate with Dr. Marrs.
Dr. Marrs is a great professor. I love attending her zoom lectures and the labs were fun also. She takes the time to go into detail and answer any questions we have during her lectures. As long as you take the time to study everything is fine. Dr. Marrs is also very helpful when reviewing your exams. She is also flexible, due to the weird year.
I don't believe in angels. But if they exist, I would not be surprised if Dr. Marrs was one of them. She is, by a wide margin, one of the best teachers I've ever had. She's always incredibly patient and takes time to make sure students understand the content. If it was in my major, I'd take her 500 level class. 10/10 would definitely recommend!!!!!
She is a great professor! Very sweet and caring loves to hear from students and always asks about their weekend. I suggest watching the pre-lecture videos because you can become very lost and behind very quickly.
The absolute best, the powerpoints are super helpful when preparing for tests!
Dr. Marrs is very intelligent, organize, very detail and very encouraging to all her students. She is prepare when she comes to class. All her videos are wonderfully made. It is very helpful, interesting, useful, informative, extremely easy to follow and not boring. I watch all of her videos that is one of the reason I will pass this class.
not too bad! Good professor
Dr. Marrs is an angel. Period. Nicest, most understanding professor at all of IUPUI. She is very well respected and gives students appreciation. She is very helpful outside of the class your taking; always giving us ideas on fun stuff to do, emotional support through the pandemic, and overall understanding!
Dr. Marrs was my favorite professor this semester. Even though she has hundreds of BIOL-K101 students, she takes time to address students' questions, work with them during her office hours, and even make personal connections so they can get more involved as a college student.
Dr. Marrs is one of the best professors I've had here at IUPUI. Literally anyone that says anything bad about her is wrong, that's it. She's extremely sweet, offered a bunch of extra credit and will help you with anything. She is too pure for this world.
Marrs is super epic. She always takes the time to answer questions and is really patient about it. She works hard to make sure every student is doing okay. Lectures online aren't technically required but I would go because they're super important.
Doctor Marrs is an amazing and inspiring professor. Her lectures are so interesting and so much fun. She really knows the information that she is teaching and she wants every single student of hers to succeed.
Dr. Marrs is a gem! I really loved her class, and she was a lot of fun! I would recommend her to anyone.
Loved Kathy but hated bio. Despite my eternal hate for bio Kathy does a wonderful job and I would recommend her to any freshman taking k101.
Dr. Marrs yet again an amazing professor. K101 she was AWESOME. Now in K357 she kept the material very straightforward and fun! We had online modules due to COVID to work on since we didn't get to be in lab as much. Labs were fun! We got to do a lot of fun microbiology! There are performance assessments to test your ability on things. FUN!!!
I took 101 in a hybrid manner. Marrs is probably one of the best profs you could ask for. Many opportunities to score points in all class components, her in person lectures were a privilege to attend & she was very understanding during online chaos. there are no stupid ?s, she is unbiased but I'd suggest being friendly, she deserves it. truly great
Dr. Marrs is super sweet and very intelligent. She cares about you as a person and wants you to succeed. Just talk with her! But her class tends to be a little difficult, you really have to take lots of notes and re-watch lots of videos to get the info planted in your brain. Some concepts are just difficult in general, but she is a great professor.
Dr. Marrs is the sweetest professor I have ever had. 100% recommend. The content is a little tricky at times, but she was always there to help if needed. I felt very respected and not judged when I was having a hard time. She understands and is very considerate. Please, please, please take a class with her, she is the absolute best.
Dr. Marrs is one of my favorite professors at IUPUI. She is such a caring individual and will do everything that she can to help you in the course and through life as well. She is always ready to meet if you contact her and she will do more than impact your college life. If possible, take a class with Dr. Marrs or get to know her elsewhere :)
Dr. Marrs is one of the best professors on the entire campus. Not only is she a great teacher giving students every resource available, she is genuinely a good person and you can tell she cares about every single student. Anytime a student asks a question she always asked their name and it feels very personally. Love her class, teaches well, 10/10
Dr. Marrs cares about all of her students and you can tell she loves her job. Her lectures are good but the material she teaches in class doesn't cover everything you'll need to know for exams, so you'll have to watch the lecture videos outside of class (all pre-posted though!) Put in the work to watch them, take notes, and the class is an easy A!
Ive heard that she is really nice but Im not one to go up and say something to her. Her exams are HARD. The only reason why I passed her class was because of recitation, lab, and final. Grade didnt go up till literally finals week and the study guide to the final is the exam. Hard but you have to work to pass.
Dr. Marrs is the BEST! She has all of her lectures available on Kaltura, and her exam material is exclusively what she covers in the lecture slides. Hint- go to Breakfast Club, especially the week of exams. You'll basically get the answers to the test!
Provides unheard of amounts of resources, is always available, and generally wants to see all her students succeed (heavy test curves!)
Fantastic professor! She is so nice and caring. Dr. Marrs makes sure that her students have everything they need to succeed. She makes the material easy to understand, and her exams are very fair.
Her exams are easy if you know the powerpoints! She records her lectures & posts them so u can access them later. The final exam is 90 questions that she picks directly off the final exam study guide. She has extra credit oppertunities, and usually gives points back on exams even if you got an A! She is super sweet and really loves biology.
Dr. Marrs is AMAZING! She goes above and beyond for her students and clearly wants all her students to succeed! Her lectures are inspiring and interesting. She gets to know her students, she holds a Friday breakfast club as an open help/review session which is fun and so helpful, and she is extremely optimistic. OUTSTANDING professor. Best prof!!!
Dr. Marrs is such a sweetheart. She takes time to know each of her students. Her exams can be difficult but don't worry about exam grades because she will usually add a few points back and there are a lot of assignments that get added to the gradebook as well as extra credit points.
Very nice lady who cares about teaching. I attended lectures but talked to friends mostly. She posts Kalturas, that are videos that teach you everything you need to know. No need to read the book. If you watch the Kalturas and practice on Quizlet, or anywhere, you will get an A. Tests are easy and straightforward if you study.
Dr. Marrs is probably the best STEM teacher I've ever had. It's obvious that she cares about her students and is passionate about what she is teaching - it is almost like biology is her life (get it, since it is the science of life), and she makes it an essential part of ours, too. Funny story teller.
I was in a big class and so it was difficult to get 1 on 1s unless in pre scheduled meeting, it was easy to stay engaged during lecture and she was good at answering emails as long as you are good at following up.
Amazing
As long as you follow along with the course load, and use the resources that she gives you it is an easy class to pass. A ton of the points just come from showing up to lab and recitation.
Definitely watch the Kaltura videos because just going to lecture is not enough. In lecture, she goes over the highlights, not really in depth of everything that will be on the exams. She is super sweet though and willing to help, but just make sure you put the work in outside of class too.
One of the kindest and best teachers I've ever had. Cares a lot about the subject and about her students. I had her for K101 and also as part of a learning community. Made adjusting to the college experience very easy and stress-free. Not a lot of homework and the tests are pretty easy if you pay attention and study a little bit.
Dr. Marrs is one of the sweetest professors, and even in a lecture hall of 400 people, she will stay after class to talk to many of them. Definitely watch the recorded lectures, they help a lot with reviewing the material. The exams are difficult, and it will definitely take a lot of studying to understand the material. Everyone loves Dr. Marrs.
Dr. Marrs is one of the sweetest professors, and even in a lecture hall of 400 people, she will stay after class to talk to many of them. Definitely watch the recorded lectures, they help a lot with reviewing the material. The exams are somewhat difficult, but the final exam is a study guide with questions from the tests. Everyone loves Dr. Marrs!
She is super sweet and exams are not extremely hard if you study well. She does curve exams. Would definitely recommend!
Dr. Marrs is a good professor, her personality is great. Expect to understand context before lecture because she will not fully discuss it. Exams can be difficult so study well.
Nicest professor I have had yet! She is so sweet and truly cares about each and every student. Her tests can be hard but if you study for them and do all the study modules you will be just fine. Kindest soul out there, I would definitely take again!
Lectures are fun and she makes it easy to understand. Well respected, exams are hard, but if you study enough you will do decent. Many opportunities for points and extra credit. Go to ALL recitation and lab for easy points as well as extra credit for going to all of them.
This is a great professor to have as an incoming freshman! She really guides you through the course and makes all her resources easily accessible and available for you to use. As long as you put in effort and interact with her, you will be absolutely fine!
Definitely one of the best professors to get to know outside of class. A very genuine and caring prof. This class was very challenging but she made it worth it. Once you get the hang of the study style it becomes enjoyable.
The best professor that I've ever had and I miss her everyday. Dr. Marrs is the most professional person whom I have met. Her passion for science helps to continue to motivate you throughout the semester and henceforth. She's such a good professor that other professors seems awful after taking her classes. Her tests are very fair.
Simply the best. Dr. Marrs is the sweetest woman ever. If you have the chance to take a class with her, PLEASE DO IT! She deserves all 5 of her stars on RMP and more. Absolute sweetheart.
Dr. Marrs is without question my favorite professor of all time here at IUPUI. She cares about her students and wants everyone to succeed. Attend lecture and lab with a positive attitude and you will be successful. My only regret about Dr. Marrs is she is not going to be a professor for any of my future classes; which goes to show how great she is.
She is one of the best professors at Iupui. Absolutely wonderful.
Probably the best professor you'll take. ACTUALLY CARES. Gives you advice and encourages you no matter what. She's the type of professor students will go to class early just to talk to her. For the class make sure you study more than you think just incase.
Class is in my opinion a "weed out" class because of all the material you cover for an intro level course. Just do the extended notes and Kaltura videos before lecture and you will pass this class. Pay attention in lecture too. Marrs wants everyone to pass and she will do everything she can to help you pass her class aswell.
Dr. Marrs is a great professor. She cares about all her students passing and gives many opportunities to boost your grade. I had the pleasure of working with her in my lab, and she was awesome. She would help you and go into detail on whatever we were learning in lab. There is no big difference between honors and regular K101.
Dr. Marrs is one of the sweetest professors you will encounter on campus. She carefully takes time to answer questions from students and is very enthusiastic about what she teaches. The exams felt just right in difficulty and weren't very hard. Overall, I highly recommend taking her class.
Dr. Marrs' class is very hard to fail because of how much work she puts into making sure students understand the material. In addition, she does her best to make the class enjoyable and always tries to relate concepts to things that are currently happening in the world. She clearly loves her job and I wish all professors were like her.
Dr. Marrs is very nice and she genuinely cares about her students succeeding in her class. The lectures are not mandatory but they are very helpful and she also hosts an extra class where she brings snacks and goes over topics that people have questions on which I found extremely helpful.
Dr. Marrs is probably one fo the most geniune people I've ever met. She will always listen and be there for you whenever you ask for it and is never too hard to reach. She wants her students to do well and encourages all of us to put in the effort to learn about science and biology. Never steers her students in the wrong direction.
I loved her class so much. I could say that it was the best class in college for me.
Dr. Marrs is a truly wonderful professor who genuinely cares about her students' success. Her classes are challenging but manageable if you stay engaged and utilize resources like unstuckstudy ai along with the textbook. Definitely take her class if you can!
Dr. Marrs is amazing, she is clearly passionate about biology and teaching. I am so happy she was one of my first professors in college because she is so caring. As far as Bio 101/102 goes, just make sure you study and read the textbook. Her lectures are really good and go over all of the information you need for the test.
Dr. Marrs is one of the best professors here at IU. Her class is easy to pass as long as you attend lecture and study well for her exams. After taking exams, she curves her exams by a couple points which is nice. She truly cares for her students so it's important to build that connection with her and she's always there for you.
She is honestly one of the best bio teachers here from what I hear and has all her slides on canvas incase you need to study. She also has kaltura videos back from covid which definitely helped on exam days. She has an extra credit assignment that helps with grade and then the final is literally just whats on the study guide.
Dr. Marrs is a very kind professor and will always be on the students' side if something goes wrong. Tests are simple as long as you study the bolded terms in the powerpoints and the tophat questions.
Kmarrs is a great prof, and was always available to help if needed. Very sweet, and her lectures were great. The only thing I didn't like was her TopHat--she often made us answer questions in TopHat that were based on material we hadn't covered yet, which led to losing points.
She's such a nice person who you can tell is just passionate about her work. She wants her students to succeed, just make sure you study the content because it is a demanding course. Super approachable and kind.
The sweetest professor ever! While it is difficult to get an A in the class, passing is super easy and basically participation since there are so many things that contribute to your grade. Such as top hat questions, attendance, recitation, lab, and mastering biology assignments.
I took this class in fall of 2021 and it was one of the best lectures I have ever had. She gives great outside material for lectures for a deeper understanding. She also makes sure to answers everyones questions. Overall she is very caring and definitely shows a love of science and teaching! The course load was pretty fair as well
She is the best!
I adore her — she's amazing. If you pay attention, you'll pass. Her practice exams help a lot. The TAs are great (shoutout to Amal!). Her slides are useful, and the TAs support us with Kahoots, Jeopardy, and summary slides. Overall, she's a fantastic professor — one of the best
She's amazing. Does her best to help her students.
For my pre-meds/pre-dents who want an A in the class, here's some real advice I wish I had: Aim for a B and higher on every test Memorize the slides + watch her full-length lectures from covid (dont use book) Attend every recitation for easy 10pts extra credit get full points in lab + rec 100% on final (she gives the answers on the study guide)
Kindest woman on campus and engaging lecturer. She is involved both in and outside the classroom; very accessible. Tests are straightforward content memorization, not super complex. Averages are pretty good, usually in the 70s.Her PowerPoints are well made imo, and gives lots of resources
Professor Marrs was incredible, always willing to help and provided feedback after almost each exam. Her lectures were very detailed - I suggest reviewing those and watching her posted videos as well to help understand. Lab could have been organized better, but it was all enjoyable. Such a kind and engaging professor!
The class is as hard as you make it. If you attend the lectures, go to the lab + RCT, you can get 300+ points out of the 1000 you can get in the class. Her teaching style doesn't work for everyone, but don't stress if you rewatch the lectures and review the homework, you are promised an A or high B. Anything 900+/1000 is an A (4.0).
