She's the coolest.... Very helpful and understandable... Take the class... You'll pass... Because she cares about every1's grade and in helpin you
Kate was an awesome teacher. She stated exactly what you needed for exams, HW, and assignments. She has very good notes that make the class very easy. Best Stat teacher! Easy Tests too!
awesome teacher, really cares about students grades, always willing to help you out, def. take stats with her
Excellent teacher. There is a lot of written homework to do and some online work but if you do all of it you will definetly pass the class. Just do the homework, its required anyway. Kathleen is very easy to understand and walks the class through everything at a good pace. This was one of the easiest class I ever took.
She moves a little fast and skips steps, but for the most part she is pretty good about explaining things. Her tests were somewhat difficult but you are allowed to have two pages of notes. The textbook is a waste of 85 dollars because the homework is now online. Go to lecture and discussion as much as possible to fully comprehend material.
tests are difficult and was mildly rude in emails back.
The easiest thing to do is go to class and you won't have to do any reading outside from your text book. She has a book of class notes made to buy in the co-op and the exams come straight from there that you fill out each class. Pretty easy math course- look into it.
Nice lady, likes to help students. If you go to class and discussion you can get an A pretty easily.
One of the easiest classes I've ever taken. Very nice professor. Go to class and discussion and do the homework and you won't need to study for exams at all. Class is a great confidence and GPA booster. Don't bother buying the textbook, just buy the notebook.
Cool teacher and relly nice.
I absolutely love Dr. McLaughlin. She's the nicest professor I have encountered since coming to UConn. Go to her office hours and let her get to know you. She really cares about your grade and have no problem with helping you out when you're confused. The class is not easy (or at least not for me) but if you study hard and attend class you'll be ok
She's great, really fun and energetic, she is always willing to help if you need it and sticks around after class to answer questions. Great teacher, highly recommend her.
Great prof! Very easy, gives you EXACTLY what you need to know on exams. Very nice, ALWAYS there if you need help. The TA's weren't all that good, but she makes it a really easy class, even for someone who isn't good at math.
My favorite professor at UConn so far, hands down!! Kind, helpful, funny, and genuine, Kate works VERY hard to make sure all students understand the Statistics material. Tells you EXACTLY what you need to know for exams and even includes a bonus question or 2 on the exams. Final in cumulative, but just be sure to review all other exams prior.
She was great. Made class fairly interesting and went over the steps of problems many times. Made it easy to learn and easy to get an A. Web assigns and mini tab were due each week, but helped increase average.
Knows what she's talking about and very clear. I I highly recommend her!
She's very nice. Lectures are important to succeed in the class. Buy the notebook she offers in the bookstore, it is basically the only thing you need in the class besides a calculator. She is very clear, helpful and tries to make things easy for you. I recommend her.
Sweetest woman! great teacher, goes slow, offers help, cheatsheets on exams, but dont buy textbook (never opened). Get book of notes and minitab, which sucks but get Ran Liu as a TA and she grades easy. I got a B+ bc im an idiot and didnt do my webassign, def could have had an A. She gives the best study guides, prepares you well. TAKE HER!!
Great Professor! Got my first A at Uconn taking this class. Textbook is a waste of money, but definitely buy the notebook. Make sure you attend all the lectures and you shouldn't have a problem getting a great grade.
GREAT TEACHER! She's super clear; if you go to class you should have no problem on the exams and final.
Wonderful teacher! The course content was very easy, in part because she is so great at teaching the material and concepts. Such a friendly and approachable person. She wants to see her students succeed and provides ample opportunities for them to!
Awesome teacher. Go to class and take as much notes as you can and for each exam you can bring a sheet front and back of notes. If you need to take stat, definitely take it with her
She kind of rambles through the lectures. I did really well in stats before taking her class, and her teaching style kind of threw me off. She kind of flies back and forth through the notebook and doesn't fully explain things. I personally didn't have a good experience in this class, and I went to lectures every week.
Hands down, the easiest math class offered at UConn. Kate explains everything really well, and she gives out a lot of extra credit. Minitab and webassign are tedious, but pretty straightforward. I loved my T.A., she usually let us get out 20 min early in discussion.
She's very helpful, and holds office hours directly after classes in addition to her regular ones. She uses a guided note taking book that she wrote herself. She's the best Stat teacher on campus, hands down. If you have trouble with math, make sure you get her. If you attend classes, you really can't fail.
Overall a pretty easy class. She always offers opportunities for extra help and extra credit. If you struggle with math, take Stat with her because she explains everything very thoroughly, sometimes almost too much. The lectures are pretty boring, but that's to be expected from a Stat class. I definitely would recommend her!
Easy class. Mean Professor.
DO IT! Professor McLaughlin is wonderful. This is one of those classes where it CAN be very easy if you put in some effort. She's an great math lecturer. You can bring notes to the exam but don't underestimate the exams. Homework assgnmnts are spr easy. She is definitely NOT "mean". She goes above and beyond to provide opportunities to do well.
Kate was the best professor I ever had. Her office hours were accessible and she was very helpful. You get a cheat sheet for every test and the tests aren't difficult. There is a lot of extra credit. This class is worth planning your schedule around.
Great professor! The class is a really easy gen ed to fill your math requirement. You have to go to class to get the notes but she gives you a cheat sheet for every exam and tells you exactly what will be on it so it's super easy.
She is very nice person and really cares about her students, but if you are not a Math person, the material can be hard and the tests can be hard.
McLaughlin is awesome. Cheat sheet for every test, free question on every test. Easy homework, easy class. I'm terrible at math and had never taken stat before and i have an A- going to lecture not even 50% of the time. Highly recommended.
Great math professor, such an easy class and she gives you many opportunities for extra credit if math isn't your thing, cheat sheet for every exam, always available in office hours and your grade is well distributed with tests and homeworks and discussion. Really no reason not to do well in this class.
Go to class and pay attention and you can't do worse than a B, save money and buy the E-Book
I loved this class. The professor was really clear in explaining concepts, and always told you exactly what you needed to know for exams. You have to go to lecture to get the notes, but it isn't terrible. She is very helpful, and one of the best teachers i have had.
It wasn't that this class was extremely easy, but Professor McLauglin does a great job of explaining the material. The notes are easy to follow along with in class and if you do the practice problems she gives online, you should be all set! Don't buy the textbook because it's free online in WebAssign. You can get minitab through vpc.uconn.edu too.
McLaughlin is a very nice person and great at explaining topics. She basically tells you everything you need for the exam, and lets you have a cheat sheet. You don't really need the text book for this class, but you should definitely buy the notebook (it's helpful). The class was pretty easy and the McLaughlin is nice.
For starters do not buy the book because first of all she never uses it and second of all The University of Connecticut will not buy the book back because it is specialized for The University of Connecticut. Yeah it made perfect sense to me too. Class isn't bad but either you get it or not.
Easiest class on campus. Three tests, an easy final, homework, and discussion. Very easy to do well. You can get an A without going to any classes. Don't bother buying the textbook.
explains the material well, but don't underestimate the exams. she gives you everything you will need to know in audio files that she posts on huskyct so everything is very straightforward. don't buy the textbook or minitab because you can get both online! if you need to take stat definitely take mclaughlin's class!
Great prof, pretty easy class. Recommend her. She is very willing to help you if you don't get it, and understands that some people don't need to attend lecture while others definitely need to come to office hours in addition. Fair.
Take 1100, not 1000! Straight-forward with the ntbk and audio files. Discussion helped a lot because it provided worksheets with examples of the concepts. I agree to not underestimate exams; definitely understand the material b/c each question is worth a lot of points. The exams are tricky, except the final, which is exactly like the first 3 exams.
Kate is an awesome professor. She goes over concepts sometimes a little too much but really drills the material in your head. Discussions are also very helpful. Exams are pretty easy (I got 100 on one of them!). Make sure you go to class and follow along in the notebook and you'll be fine.
This class is an easy Q course. Prof. McLaughlin is extremely helpful and wants everyone to do well in her class. She allows you to use a formula sheet on exams, and gives an optional project for extra credit. She is a great prof, I recommend taking a class with her.
Good teacher, very helpful
The nicest! Turns a lecture hall into a small class atmosphere. Very helpful and fair.
Awesome professor! Makes all material very easy to understand. You must attend lecture and take notes. She is nice and extremely helpful
She is the best professor! I got a 100 on the first, second, and third exam and a 95 on the final! But it's mostly because of her! She's sweet and kind and clear!
Very helpful and good teacher
Had her for Stats 1100...Great teacher. Clear and helpful. Take this for a manageable/easy Q course.
GREAT professor- take her for statistics! You won't regret it!
She is an amazing professor who truly wants you to learn the material and do well in the class. She offers extra credit but you won't need it. You do need to go to class if you don't want to read the book, which I never did. I got a 76 on the final since I forgot mostly everything and still got an A in the class b.c of the discussion and past tests
AWESOME teacher!! very easy class... Went to lecture probably 5 times and got an A in the class. Very easy 4.0
She is AWESOME!& Helpful ! This was my favorite class this semester!
Best teacher at UCONN. So good you should take it as an elective. Great material, great teacher and great GPA booster. You can bring 8 pages of notes on the final and two pages for all the other exams. NOT A MATH PERSON and found this class very manageable. Lovely lady and she is so so so so sweet. Thanks Kathleen!
Fabulous teacher. Notes are extremely clear and easy to follow. She provides so many resources to study for tests and lots of opportunities for bonus points so its very easy to do well in the class. Don't take STAT with anyone else, easy A!
McLaughlin is a great teacher because she knows that not everyone in the class is a math major. She gives tons of extra credit opportunities and homework makes up a big chunk of your grade. I was dreading a math class but ended up with an A in her class, I would definitely recommend it.
i am terrible at math, but got an A- in this. do NOT need book, but notebook and minitab is necessary. good professor and very clear. TAs are foreign but really easy... guaranteed 90-100 in discussion. minitab is easy for the most part just follow the directions. exams you get cheat sheets and on final you get like 4 lol. just know your calculator
She is such an amazing professor. She cares more about your grades than you do. She wants everyone to do well and tries very hard to make sure everyone does. The lectures are sort of boring but worth going to. I haven't used the actual textbook but she makes a notebook for us that is very helpful. I highly recommend this class with this professor.
She is awesome!! The notes she gives during lectures are clear and she's not boring. Minitab is relatively easy, just follow the instructions. The class was easy for me because I like math and she made it easy. Gave extra credit options for every exam and an extra credit projet to lower the values of the exam if you didn't do well. Tries to help!!!
KATHLEEN! She's an awesome professor! Honestly probably one of Uconn's best. Going to class is essentially a must, however if you do minitab and pay attention (her notes are laid out very well), then you should get the A! Recommend taking her class!
She's a great professor! She's makes everything really clear, and she's one of the nicest people to talk to in person. She really cares for her students and if you listen to her audio files, you'll be totally fine for the tests.
Kathleen is a saint. While lectures can be boring (it's math so...it's going to be tedious) but what she shows in class is going to be on the exam. The webassign help, and the TA's are great. Every little assignment you do means more points, and she actually cares about individual students. She invited students to her house for Thanksgiving. Saint!
Stats is not a hard class, even if math is not your thing. Dr. McLaughlin is very thorough and explains things clearly. Attendance is not mandatory if you can get the notes from her notebook, but going to class reduces studying time later on for exams. She does audio notes before the exam which are REALLY helpful
I loved Stats 1100! Dr. McLaughlin made everything so simple and easy to understand. As long as you put in the effort, you'll do fine. I would recommend her to anyone who has to take statistics.
Lecture is so easy and so is discussion, but discussion is crazy boring and you can't understand the TA's
Fantastic professor, clear and concise. Highly recommend. Don't take with anyone else
McLaughlin is a great professor. She gives you audio notes explaining exactly what will be on each exam. Plenty of extra credit. Went into the class knowing nothing about statistics and got a 99 in the class with minimal effort.
Great professor, I'm not very good at math but Professor McLaughlin made the class interesting and very straightforward. Whenever I had trouble with a concept she was always helpful in class and during her office hours. She provided multiple extra credit opportunities and her exams were not too bad, DEFINITELY take with her!
The nicest lady ever. Super clear in class. Attendance isn't recorded but it helps to go. I never show up to my 8 AM, so the book is actually easy to understand I've had to use it a few times. In the materials list is a notebook that has copies of all the slides you can't get anywhere else. Fill those out and your good. Have to buy book tho.
This class is extremely easy as long as you go to lecture and take good notes. Professor McLaughlin goes out of her way to make sure you understand the material.
Kate was a tremendous help. She offers 5 points extra credit for each exam, as well as an extra credit project at the end of the semester. Highly recommend her
Go to class. You don't need the textbook, but you do need the notes workbook. Tests are straightforward. She offers plenty of extra credit opportunities.
Class notes essentially outline the exams. Proceed with caution, most people think that this is the type of course that requires "0" work. If you want to do well in this course (A- or better), be prepared to put in the time. You would be surprised as to how many people fail her exams. McLaughlin definitely increased the course difficulty.
This is a horrible professor . Firstly, her "extra credit" project isn't really extra credit. It just makes your exams count less and adds a new grade. The concepts on the exam are easy but her wording makes it difficult. More like a reading comprehension test. I can safely say I learned nothing about statistics despite getting an A.
so the class is ridiculously easy if you know basic math somewhat. but dont slack. its easy to fall behind if you dont do webassigns regularly and study for the exams. she lets you bring a page of notes for each and 4 pages for the final! Haha. be careful on the exams. q's are worth more than you think. good prof overall. highly recommend
Mclaughlin was the best professor I ever had while attending UCONN. She cares about her students and wants everyone to pass. She gives us so many chances to receive a fair grade. She is the BEST!!!
Ridiculously easy class. Or if you are a science major, this class will be a joke. Did all the webassigns (online hw) the night before the exams and barely studied because she lets you bring a cheat sheet for every exam. Also extra credit worksheets are available and are due on the day of exam if you need it. She's a really nice lady. :)
Professor McLaughlin is the best math teacher I've ever had. I've never understood math, but she is so good at explaining everything that I get it for once. She is the nicest lady and only wants the best for her students. Definitely one of the best professors that Uconn has.
If you need a break or getaway from your extremely hard science courses, take this. Easy A, just study 2-3 hours before an exam and you will do well.
she is such a sweet lady. you get a lot of extra credit.. if you took stats in high school or are good at test taking in general take this class. I thought it was way too easy and suffered on exams. most people did well in this class except me but I still respect mclaughlin as a person and as a professor. approachable. reasonable. kind. recommend.
This class is one of the easiest offered at UConn. Lots of chances for extra credit and you are allowed to bring a cheat sheet to the tests. Text book is NOT necessary, however I would recommend the notebook. Definitely pick up the bundle with the ebook, since it is cheaper. Many assignments for discussion, but you can drop off the work and leave.
My exam grades were 83, 78, and 89 and then got a 77 on the final. I still got an A-. She gives you an extra credit project that is worth 15 percent of your grade and gives you extra credit on tests too. Should have gotten an A tho cause the class was that easy I am just not that good at taking tests. but the content is simple beyond belief.
Easy class if you pay attention and actually learn how to do things. They aren't meant to be complex topics, some of it is literally "put this number here in the calculator, get answer, done" Would definitely recommend this class over stats 1000, you can miss a few classes but don't make it a habit as that's how your grade starts to slide. Y
So easy. She makes it almost impossible to fail. Just do the worksheets and minitabs and go to discussion to hand stuff in. Easy A.
The lecture before the exam she will give out examples that will be similar to the test. She also puts up audio files of her notes, but they're just an overview, so don't only depend on those. Webassign is easy (over 100 tries), Minitab is easy (just follow directions), and the TA's give out answers to worksheets.
One of the optional textbooks you can buy contains all of her lecture slides. I recommend buying it. If you don't go to lecture at least go to discussion. Her exams have a lot of questions that require calculator commands, so if you don't know them, you're screwed. Otherwise, discussion is pointless. Really nice lady, extra credit, very clear.
I never went to the lectures, and didn't even buy webassign. Still, if you do the minitabs and worksheets for discussion, you can easily pass this class. Hell, I didn't even have the textbook and my tests were a 95, 84, 67 (ugh) and a 94 on the final. Got a B+ in the class, but that's on me. Easy, easy stuff. Great option for an easy Q.
I hear everyone repeat endlessly how easy and straightforward McLaughlin is, but they're overselling by a lot. She rambles and jumps everywhere with her material during lecture, and goes quickly making it easy to miss notes. When she makes review audio files, she tells you to refer to said notes that you missed. Discussion TAs are awful.
It's a pretty easy class, especially if math isn't really your thing. All the tests are multiple choice which is a plus. She's a super nice and accommodating teacher. There's quite a bit of homework but discussion sections go over how to do it in detail which is awesome too.
I rarely attended class, but I already knew the course material from high school. It's a really big lecture, so only discussion and exams count for anything, and even then I didn't do most of the assignments. You can pass easily just with exams--especially since you're allowed cheat sheets.
This is the best statistics professor in UConn, she is very nice and her class is very easy to understand. And she gave us a extra credits for test and a cheat sheet.
Literally the easiest class at UConn, easier than ling 1010. Only reason to go to class is to know the calculator functions. Notes are incredibly easy to take, the class over all super easy. She is super clear and exams are the easiest thing you will take. She's fantastic you have to take stats with her, you're nearly guaranteed an A
Easiest class I've ever taken. Some work involved for discussion section but they are easy weekly assignments. She posts mini lectures before the exams on exactly what to study and you get a full cheat sheet front and back to write what ever you want on it for all the exams. Such an easy class. Highly recommend it with McLaughlin
McLaughlin is the rare kind of professor who really cares about her students' success. She really cares about her students, and gives ample extra credit opportunities for students to bump up their grade. There are only 4 tests but a ton of online homework plus the minitab which is just busy work. The lectures are quick but make sure you attend
McLaughlin is one of the most genuine professors. She does everything she can to help her students succeed (extra credit, tells you exactly what's on exams, etc). Make sure to go to class and buy the "notebook" from the co-op, don't need the textbook though. WebAssigns and Minitabs are easy. Overall easy A IF you put in the work.
Professor McLaughlin is one of the best professors you'll ever have. The course material itself is easy to begin with, and she goes so slowly and explains things so well that there is absolutely no way you can't get an A in this class. You'll have one homework assignment per week that you'll get a 100 on, and she offers extra credit, too.
Very easy class. She explains everything well and in depth. If you pay any attention in class its an easy A.
Loved this class and her! If you pay attention and put in minimal effort you will get an A!
Don't take stats w/ anyone but Kathleen! She's amazing (and easy). The key to doing well is 100% going to class & writing the calculator steps down. She lets you bring a cheat sheet, front and back, to every exam and the final. Make sure you spend a few hours on it and put ex. from class & calc steps on it. No stress until the nite b4 the exam!
Great professor. Explains everything extremely thoroughly and offers a lot of extra credit. Allows cheat sheets on exams which help a lot.
McLaughlin really gives you everything you need to succeed, attending lectures are pretty essential as that is where you get all of the information from although she does post audio files incase you miss a couple. The content is easy and you get to use a cheat sheet on the exams, you really have to try hard not to do well in this class.
Knows exactly what she's talking about and has obviously been doing this for a while. She gives lots of opportunities for extra credit and the exams are always multiple choice and straight-forward. I converted this class to honors credit and still thought it was pretty easy. I didn't read the book but you need the web assign password for homework.
One of the best professors I have had. Her notes are clear and she says exactly what you have to know for tests. Not that much homework and her tests are pretty easy. Great class!
If you don't go to class you will have a hard time understanding her notes! She is very clear in class so you should go! Very sweet lady! Exams aren't bad! Class avg. is about a 90-ish on each exam! Gives extra credit! Minitabs and Webassigns are annoying AF but help! She teaches with calculator and handwritten sheets are allowed on exams!!
Coming from an english major, stats with professor Mclaughlin was pretty painless! Class can get a little dull if you aren't into that kind of stuff, but the textbook and course materials are really helpful and she explains things well. Always offers extra credit and is super willing to meet with you one on one for help. Easy stats credit for sure.
Stats with McLaughlin was extremely easy. She has a "textbook" of all the powerpoints printed that you can buy and take notes. Before each exam she actually tells you which pages will be on it, be prepared to know those examples, they're on the test. Grading is simple, 3 tests and a final. Would highly recommend.
This class was one of my favorites last semester. McLaughlin is very understanding and helpful but still makes sure you learn all of the material well. The exams are reasonable and you can bring in a page of notes and she posts audio files walking you through the lecture notebook so you can make it. Would definitely take a class with her again.
Amazing professor. If you show up to lecture and pay attention, you will get an A.
STATS IS HARD, but McLaughlin makes it manageable. I struggled in this class, but went to her office hours and she always helped me understand the material better. Very sweet lady and wants everyone to do well. She gives a few opportunities for extra credit. GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS she's very willing to help.
Contrary to many reviews on here, many students do very good or very bad. Don't expect this class to be your last priority. It definitely requires work. I also found her lectures to be very unorganized and I didn't think I was getting enough from them to know what to study for the tests. Her teaching methods are old-fashioned & hard to grasp.
Uses a notebook with all the slides for the semester and adds to them each class. Will use examples from class and practice problems in exam. Wants her students to succeed and will take her time in order to help people understand. Online homework can be done as many times as it takes to get a 100
If you skip class, you definitely won't pass but her lectures are easy to go to. If you buy the notes book she has that projected on the screen that she writes onto. Also, before exams she makes an audio files saying what pages are important & lets you bring a cheatsheet to exams! Plus, there's always extra credit on the exams
I am not exactly a math person, but this class was not too difficult. I definitely spent the most time of all my classes studying for this one, though, because I bombed the first test. Just go to the lecture, do ALL the offered extra credit (and of course WebAssigns and Minitabs), and DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE TESTS. The textbook is 100% unneeded
McLaughlin is one of the nicest professors I've had at UCONN and I love her teaching style. She has a custom-made notebook of all her powerpoints for the semester so you can copy exactly what she writes on the projector. She also tells you exactly what pages you need from the notebook so you can write down all the formulas for when you take exams.
Very easy class as long as you attend lecture. She lets students keep exams after they take it, so you can probably find someone who has taken it to give you their exams. She offers extra credit on every exam. There are 4 exams, but you get 1 page front and back for a cheat sheet in the first 3 exams and 4 pages front and back for the final.
It's a very enjoyable and easy class. Would recommend everyone to take stats1100Q with her. Just keep up with the minitabs and worksheets and you will be fine. Tests are easy if you study a bit before the exam. I never went to class and still got an A.
Professor McLaughlin make stats so easy! Lets you bring a cheat sheet to the exam and even gives you hints. Really nice lady who has accessible office hours. Don't skip class too much or you'll miss the notes which are not posted online. This class is pretty low-stress so you can take it with a heavy course-load. She gives extra credit too.
So much extra credit
McLaughlin is an amazing professor. In lecture she allows students to ask questions and she will come over to help you. She cares so much about her students and wants them to do well. She offers a lot of extra credit. I would not consider myself a stats person at all but she made this class very easy and managable! Take stats with her!
One of the sweetest people youll ever meet and genuinely cares about students passing. Gives a ton of extra credit opportunity and makes herself very available.
Really cares about students and wants them to all do well. This class is very easy, I almost never went to lecture because the notes are posted online. Just do the webassigns, minitabs, worksheets and notes and you'll be more than prepared. The textbook is not necessary. Gives you cheat sheets for exams.
By far my favorite professor at UConn, she is kind and genuinely cares about her students passing. I was terrified to have to take Stats and Im not great at math, however she's clear and made me truly understand statistics. If you aren't a math person or want a really great professor take her class you will pass and learn a lot.
Prof McLaughlin wants every student to do well. She genuinely tries to give everyone the tools to succeed. Tests arent too bad.. notes posted online.. some webassigns and Minitab. Overall, minimal work and not too challenging at all. She also offers multiple extra credit opportunities
She doesn't care about students. Very rude. Tests are hard and not like classroom problems at all. Gives 20 questions with 5 points each so if you get 5 wrong, you're already down to a C. Don't take here unless you want to screw your grades up. Horrible.
Professor McLaughlin is the best! Take STAT with her if you're "not a math person" or just need extra support. On every test she allows a cheat sheet where you can write formulas and anything you may need. The class does get challenging towards the end but if you show up and do the work you'll be okay. Also, I never used the textbook.
You won't need the actual stats textbook but you 100% need the Minitab handbook & an access code for Webassign. Both are used for online homework. Very helpful to have the lecture notes book (basically just bound copy of all her slides for you to take notes on). Class is reasonably paced & she is a very good lecturer. Go to class and you'll do fine
Very funny lady. She used to bring her dog to lectures and exams which was cool because she let us pet him after class! Very straightforward exams (all math content, no vocabulary recitation needed).
Took 1100Q last semester with her and thought it was very well-taught. Didn't love my TA but the lecture side of the class was great. Would recommend
Prof. McLaughlin teaches the material in a straightforward way that's easy to understand. She cares about her students and is extremely helpful if you go to her office hours. Her exams are fair, and she provides audio files before each that summarize what will be on them. Could not recommend her more.
She provides so many resources for everyone to do well. Audio files that summarize necessary info for the test, study sessions run by a TA, lecture notes posted online. she allows a cheat sheet on exams so you can always put examples & equations on it if you're struggling. if you attend lectures, you'll learn the material easily
I'm taking Stats 2 because of how much this professor made me love her class. She is so kind and does everything that she can to make it possible for everyone to succeed (posts notes online, audio summaries, etc.) Only thing is that textbook isn't necessary; I only bought it for the WebAssign. Love this professor/take stats with her (no exception!)
Her exams are very hard and their multiple choice of 20 questions which means very few questions wrong can cost you a lot of points. Pick Zhanna, she's much easier.
Kathleen is a real gem. This was probably the easiest math course I've ever taken. The Webassigns and Minitabs are more tedious but not hard, and the discussion worksheets are done and explained in-class. Lectures can get boring (it's a math lecture but pay off when it comes time for the exam, which you can bring a printer paper cheat sheet into.
Prof. McLaughlin is really a gem of a professor. She is very, very clear in her teaching and makes sure that everyone understands the material. Her class was pretty easy, there are three tests, some webassigns, and minitab, all are not too difficult at all. The tests are all multiple choice, 20-21 questions. Would take again for sure.
Probably one of the best math professors out there. She really cares and wants her students to do well on her exams. If you go to class everyday, you shouldn't have an issue mastering the material. She offers an extra credit project, and holds review sessions. Absolutely loved her.
As a professor I would say shes is ok, could be better. The exams I felt like were really hard especially the final. But she is really caring and offers extra credit, she wants her students to do well too. The only thing I dont respect is she need to learn how to answer emails and not be rude and ignore them.
Super nice, clear approach to teaching, easy to understand even if you're "not a math person." Sometimes she brings her dog to class. The HW assignments get annoying but they're not hard. Exams are easy, you get a cheat sheet and can bring one to the final. She posts study guides and slides and is clear about what is on the multiple-choice exams.
I LOVED LOVED Professor McLaughlin and I guarantee you will too. You have to take STAT1100 with her and no one else. She is an amazing professor and I honestly learned so much. She really prepares you for exams and there is a lot of practice assignments that are not too difficult. Discussion was eh. She lets you have a sheet during exams. 10/10
I am not a math person, but she was AMAZING until the quarantine. Then she added so much work and the class became much harder. I spent so many extra hours per week on this class that already took up a good amount of time. If we have online classes in the fall, stay away! But if we dont, youll be fine, it was an easy class up until online class.
Class was made online due to COVID but she was amazing through everything. She is a sweet old lady who really tries her best to make sure her students succeed. The MiniTab assignments can be annoying at times but other than that it is a great class. There is extra credit and cheat sheets are allowed for exams. Highly Recommend! You learn a lot too.
Extremely kind and generous woman. Handled the COVID 19 situation better than any other professor. Very understanding and willing to help the students.
McLaughlin is amazing at lecturing and explaining concepts. Offers many extra credit opportunities. Even when we went online for corona she put so much effort into giving us virtual resources in order to succeed in the class. Also brings her dog Enzo to lecture sometimes. Fantastic professor, couldn't recommend her enough
Love this woman! She truly wants to see you succeed and is there to help you.
Basically, just show up to lecture, follow her notes and you'll be fine. She allows a cheat sheet on every exam so there is no excuse to not do well in the class. Homework was a little annoying but not bad and the discussion was not helpful. Also, she likes to bring her dog to lecture which is cool.
Prof. McLaughlin is wonderful! She truly cares about her students and does her best to keep everyone engaged. Make sure to attend class, and study for her exams, especially if you are someone who struggles with math. She gave a lot of work, however her lectures were very helpful. She would also bring her dog in occasionally which was a huge plus!
Amazing professor! I made an account on here largely to leave her a great review. I took the class in fall of 2019 and her lectures made the class a breeze. She offers extra credit and if you need help but can't make it to office hours, she is more than willing to accommodate you. She even brought her cute dog to class sometimes. Great prof/person!
Prof Mclaughlin is a really great stats professor. Her lectures are easy to follow and is available outside of class with help. Definitely don't miss lectures, because you absolutely need the information for the exams. There were 3 exams, weekly minitabs, and really easy homeworks due before exams. Easy enough and a great professor.
Professor McLaughlin is great! The class has been pretty easy and I highly recommend trying to get her if you need to take stat. Every week you have to watch and take notes on pre recorded video lectures. Also, you have a group project and webassign homework every week (you can redo the webassigns until you get a 100). Her tests are open note too!
Professor McLaughlin is such a thorough yet understanding professor. There are many opportunities to. do well in her class via worksheets, group projects, minitab assignments, etc. She has been the most accommodating during the pandemic and allows you to fill up a sheet of paper for your online exams! Take your classes with her!
I took this class during Fall 2020 in an online setting. If you have to take this class in person, I am sure it's fine. DO NOT take if you are online. Just don't do it. Not only were all assignments due on Sundays, but we had an exam and homework over THANKSGIVING BREAK. Horrible format for teaching this class online, and the TAs were no help.
Easily the best professor I had for Fall 2020 term. Extremely understanding and does her best to help struggling students. There is extra credit, and she is not a harsh grader. Worksheets are graded on completion, and she has practice tests and audio files to help students prepare for tests.
The best math professor I've had! She ensures that you understand the material, has PLENTY of office hours, offers extra credit opportunities, and overall makes the class bearable. I would recommend buying her fill-in notebook for the textbook option, as she relies on the notebook for the class. Would definitely take a class with her again!
The weekly video lengths were inconsistent and kinda boring but did give you all the information for the tests and the homework. When reaching out to her, she did come across as rude, or maybe that's just the way she writes emails? Her class was easy to pass, though, and she made stats pretty easy.
I took this class Fall 2020 and the lectures was asynchronous and the discussion sections were synchronous. The lectures were really helpful and interesting. Exams are really straightforward. She is really accessible outside of class and really nice if you ever have a question. She also had a lot of office hour opportunities.
One of the nicest professors I have had at UConn. Her class is very fair, watch the lectures and you will get A's on the exams. Gives plenty of test prep, opportunities for extra credit, and outside class help. I had a family issue that interfered and she went above and beyond to help me succeed in the course, as well as outside of class. 12/10
Professor McLaughlin is genuinely one of the greatest instructors you will ever have. She makes what is aa difficult course seem easy. She genuinely cares about students and is always available to help with anything and works with you to succeed. I highly recommend you take her course if you need a Q class or any credit in general.
Professor Mclaughlin was great. She was really helpful outside of class or office hours and also helped us prepare for exams and homework was straight forward as long as you understood the material. I did all the homework and got A's on all of them. She is truly a gem. I would recommend this class to anyone who needs a Q requirement or loves math.
I had Kathleen during COVID. I felt I would be good considering all the reviews were great, it seems like she made the material easy and so on. I was totally disappointed to find out this class was asynchronous, which made my learning experience horrible. I am terrible with math as is. I would NOT recommend this class online-take it in person.
Super easy even if you're not good at math. Professor creates Audio Files before each test which basically tells you everything that's going to be on them and what to study. Very accessible professor & quick responded. Definitely recommend!
Professor McLaughlin is an amazing professor who makes stats simple. As long as you do all the assignments, you will do great on all the tests. She lets you have two pages of notes for each test.
Although the class was super easy, Kathleen came across very rude at times, especially in emails. I took her during COVID so maybe shes better in person, but she definitely rubbed me the wrong way. Personally, shes the typical professor with too many students to actually care.
Everything is really straightforward. The only unit that's terrible is probability. It's not the professor, it's just the probability material itself that's difficult. She's so nice and literally tells you everything you need to know on the exams. The group project is easy and so is the homework. Definitely a good math class to take.
She really cares about her students and understands specific circumstances. She is always available to talk and her exams are simple if you watch the lectures. Would definitely recommend!
Took this class during COVID and it was completely online. Did not seem to care about her students at all, and was quite rude in every email. Was super hard to grasp concepts. I was super disappointed and would not take her again. Maybe it's different if you take it in person.
annoying busywork for hw, exams are pretty easy if you studied a bit (also open note and open book) a few group assignments and the group project lets you be with your previous group or be alone (I should've done it alone)
I cant say anything but nice things about Dr. McLaughlin. She was super helpful during my online covid lectures and even went above and beyond during her office hours by staying extra late with me and gave me tips and tricks when approaching stats in general. I would rate her a 6 out of 5 if I could.
McLaughlin was a good prof I am just not good at math. I took her class online and she was very helpful in one on ones via webex , But the class was still very TA heavy. We had 3 test and we were allowed to use our notes on each of them. Just pay more attention to the lectures (and rewatch them) and take your time completing assignments.
I really am not a math student and I had to take her stats class for credit, boy was I lucky to have her. She really wants you to succeed and has many office hours and even cancelled Friday class just so you can come in if need be or just to not have class which was awesome. As long as you do the assignments and pay attention in class youre set
I had professor Mclaughlin for STAT 1100Q. She is a knowledgeable, kind professor, but her STATS class is heavily calculator-based. Remembering calculator functions and the order of functions is SO important. I wish it had been taught a bit differently since this method was tough for me & I don't feel like I learned much.
Her tests are nothing like the HW or the problems we go over in lecture. The tests are super hard and she films lecture notes every week that take forever to get through.
There is a lot of material, but I find that Professor McLaughlin explains it well. Some concepts may be hard, but if you but in the time and effort, you should be just fine. She is great in office hours to ask questions and go over problems. Great professor
Professor McLaughlin is the best professor I have had here. She cares about her students a tremendous amount and is always willing to offer additional help. Her tests are online on lockdown browser, but are open note and she posts what information you should have readily available in your notes for the exams. She also offers some extra credit.
Professor McLaughlin made statistics enjoyable. She was always willing to help and really cares about her students. She gives SO much extra credit and wants her students to do well. She tells you what to expect for exams and how to prepare for them. You're graded by so much that doing poorly on one exam won't hurt your overall grade.
TAKE PROF MCLAUGHLIN IF YOU WANT A GUARANTEED A IN STATS!! She makes it so it is pretty much impossible to fail this class if you do the homework and show up to office hours when you need to.
She tries to make stats easy I just suck at math lol. Her online videos literally added up to like 2 hours of watch time if not more per week and when you go to the in person lectures she just repeated what she said so don't do both. She's nice, cares and helps if you go to office hours but it's so much work for a gen ed/pre req
She is such a great professor you want to take stats with her. She says you should buy the textbooks, homework, and workbook but don't. She goes over everything in class so just buy the homework. She is always available to help and just wants everybody to pass her class. Some of the material can be confusing at times but she is always there to help
Kathleen is the absolute best. Shes so nice and wants everyone to get an A. Her lecture videos can be long but very straightforward and easy to follow. The exams are easy too- online, open book and open note and she gives you alot of time to do them. Discussion is alot of work though so make sure you go.
Prof. McLaughlin was probably one of the best math teachers I've ever had. Lectures are recorded and posted so no real need to attend if you don't have questions. She explains everything very well. HOWEVER.. the TA discussion section once a week was the worst class I have ever experienced. Could not understand my TA and he barely showed up.
I usually *struggle* with math, but Professor was the best math teacher I've EVER had. She posts chapter video notes for the week, goes over it during lecture (not mandatory) to reinforce material and records them too. Very helpful and kind during office hours. TA's go over & do the worksheets during discussion, also recorded. HIGHLY recommend
Take this class easy A
Such an easy class. I did not do any work outside of attending lecture and doing the homework and I squeaked an A... so if you do the actual requirements you'll comfortably pass.
Professor McLaughlin is so clear and her lectures are great. She cares about her students and her class sets students up for success with the grading criteria
The easiest class with one of the best professors you will have during your time at UConn. Take it, or leave it.
Kathleen is a marvelous professor who cares deeply about her students. If you have the opportunity to have her for any class take it. I'd take the class all over again just because of her. Also tests were open note!
Highly recommend you take 1100Q with her. Made the class very easy, and had lots of resources for students to use for class. Open book tests which are self explanatory. Optional extra credit but is also very easy, and counts for 12% of your grade.
Professor McLaughlin strives for her students to do well in her class. The lectures are all recorded and posted online- so you can cram in the lectures before the exam and do well. Her exams were all open notes, and her test questions were all similar to the sample questions she did in class.
Grading was clear, and the exams were online lockdown browser, but open note, which doesn't really make sense. If you go to/ watch lectures you should be fine, and of course minicabs were irritating and just time consuming. I recommend finding a friend so you could do the minitabs together.
I can't express how easy this class is. This class without kathleen should be very simple. With her, it's ten times easier. She tells you everything you need to know and how you solve every problem she gives you on an exam. She is accessible, caring, and experienced. She knows this is a 1000 level course and it shows. Take this class with Kathleen.
I hate statistics, but this class wasn't bad. She posted all the material and lectures online, class was not at all mandatory (did not go once all semester). My only complaint is that she uses Minitab, which is a tedious software, but overall not a bad class. All the exams were online Lockdown browser, but the final was in person cumulative.
Great teacher who really cares about her students. STAT 1100Q is an incredibly easy course because she makes the tests very easy. All assignments are simple and you can do them as many times as you want until you get 100%. Take her class if you want to understand the content and get a really easy A.
Math has never been easy for me but I actually passed stats this year because she was such a good teacher. She explains things so clearly it actually makes sense. Shes great
A bit overrated, but she does offer ample extra credit that is worth 12% of your grade. I didn't do it, but if you do you could get a much better grade than I did. Shout out to the guy who taught discussion for accepting late work, that saved me. It cannot be overstated that all the answers for every question are on Chegg tho I didn't use it
There is a lot of homework for this class; about 8 Webassigns per module, about 2 assignments due each week for discussion, and online exams in lockdown. If you have any sort of understanding of statistics, how to use Minitab and what a mean is, you can pass this class probably without attending a single lecture or discussion.
Great professor
She is really nice and understanding. Super easy material if you go to the lectures and/or read the book. The only reason I didnt give it a 1 for difficulty is because sometimes the work piles up.
I joined this class on the last day of the deadline, and Prof. McLaughlin could not have been more helpful. She always emailed me back quickly and was there to help. You can do all of the work at home because she posts lectures online, and the only hard part is if you let homework pile up. If you stay on top of things and study, you will do well.
This class was extremely easy. She tried to make learning about stats fun and almost always brought her dog to class (the best part obviously). I do not recommend buying the textbook for this class, her lectures are enough and she also posts videos on huskyCT. Her exams are open note and really easy. You will need a graphing calculator.
she posts all of the classes and notes online, so there really is no need to actually go to class. if you do the work, you will get a good grade. not a bad class at all.
This class was super convenient because everything was recorded. I got 100s, on ALL the homework/assignments so the only thing that made my grade a B+ was the tests. I'm not a good test taker but if you listen/practice the test prep problems you should be good. She gives extra credit and is super understanding of situations.
There is no reason you shouldn't succeed in McLaughlin's class, as she makes it very easy to access her. As much help as you need, she will give it to you. She really seems to deeply care about students and their understanding of the material, as well as applications in the real world.
Multiple ways of earning points across homework, assignments, and exams, also offers a lot of extra credit work. All exams are open-note and she has recorded lectures. Very clear and easy to understand, and very accessible and helpful out of class.
She's great. Very accessible outside of class, genuinely wants you to succeed. everything is open note, so there's no reason you can't do well. Keep an eye on the web assign due dates! I would recommend keeping up with the online lectures, but you can watch all of them the week of the test and still do fine (I did). Many extra credit opportunities.
Kathleen is so caring. She wants to make sure everyone does well on the assessments. She recorded all the lectures so attendance isn't mandatory but helpful if you need to look back. She goes everything slwoly and writes out the calculator buttons to do the correct work. Side note: Her dog is so adorable that she brings quite often.
Professor McLaughlin is extremely nice and truly cares about all of her students doing well. She walks around during her huge lectures and individually helps those with questions. Her personalized approach is very beneficial and allows for most of her students to do very well in this class, despite difficult topics.
Kathleen is awesome and always willing to help you. The content can be tricky, but she makes it doable. There is a lot of homework but exams are fair and there's an extra credit project. Her lectures are informative but can be boring at times. Her custom notebook is super helpful.
The class is extremely easy if you do the work. Homework assignments aren't due until each unit exam, so there's a lot of flexibility on when you can get your work done. She basically writes out the instructions of how to get the right numbers on the calculators on the exams (which also have extra credit). She also brings her dog to lectures :)
Professor McLaughlin is great!!! If you don't understand something she will come to you and figure it out with you. She makes sure that all her students understand the material prior to exams and acknowledges that Stats may not be everyones favorite subject. The discussion for this class however, was SO unhelpful.... didn't even hurt to stop going
This class lowkey had a lot of work outside of class. There were worksheets and Minitabs which are kind of annoying. The tests are really reflective of what we did in class and there were no surprises on them. She is really caring and always has office hours which are super helpful. She also lets us pet her dog and it is really cute.
Professor McLaughlin is an amazing professor! She genuinely cares about her students and she is very accessible. I would recommend either going to class or watching the recorded lecture online because it'll make the content easy to understand. I recommend taking Stats with her!
I wasn't even her student but I was in another class and struggling so I came to her half way through the semester for help and she went above and beyond to help me, went from a B+ to A in less than 2 months. most caring professor i've ever met, If your doing statistics, choose her. Trust me when I say, she is the best at what she does, period.
Professor McLaughlin is simply awesome! You can tell she is an experienced statistician, just by the way she teaches. One of the most caring professors at UCONN. Math is not my strongest subject and I still passed. I would recommend meeting with her during office hours and/or Q center.
Professor McLaughlin is very nice and explains every concept very well. The three exams are open notes and the final you get four pages of notes so in all it is very manageable. The discussion groups help a lot if you are having trouble understanding something. Make sure to have a graphing calculator. Overall very good course to take.
Professor McLaughlin is very nice and kept changing the format of exams like wether it be online or in person. The 3 exams + final are open notes. The discussion varies on the type of TA. Make sure to have a graphing calculator. Gave extra credit project (helped a lot). Overall, would take another class with her again.
She offers lots of support if you don't understand content. Accessible office hours. Thorough lecturer. Open note tests. Awesome professor overall. Very kind and supportive.
Class is an easy A, and she's really good at explaining concepts. Take this class for a stress free 4 credit class
Professor McLaughlin is a fantastic statistics professor. You can tell she really wants all of her students to succeed in her class and is very flexible with grades. The tests, quizzes, and homework are all fair and are on topics we learn about in class.
You can tell that she really cares about students. Even if you are horrible at taking tests, she offers a project at the end of the semester for extra credit that allows you to get a good grade. Would highly recommend. She's not great with technology, so her online lectures don't always work, so I would recommend going in person if possible.
Great professor, makes sure you understand content, cares about her students a ton. First exam is the easiest, second one is harder but she always includes extra credit questions and an extra credit assignment incase you didn't do great on exams. All homework is due on the day of the exam but just do them for easy credit and practice. Highly recc!!
Came in with barely any stats experience (MCB major) and ended with an A. The amount of gimme HW, basically open note exams (Allowed to bring in a page of notes), and a lot of office hours made this a very relaxing class.
Prof is so sweet and teaches so well. If you simply go to lecture and take notes with her in the notebook she gives out, you will do well. Homework is designed to help you practice. Just redo those problems before the exam to study and you are set. Allows a notes sheet on her easy exams. Discussion is useless, don't take Dis earlier in the week.
very awesome professor. really wants you to succeed provides many extra credit options for those struggling. minitab sucks and due every sunday along with a worksheet that is basically done in discussion. provides note sheets for tests & quizzes.
Kate is my favorite professor I've had at Uconn. She made the class easy to succeed in, but I was inspired to write the review because of how caring she is. I was a soloist at Messiah sing last year, and she reached out about how she remembered me from her class 2 years ago and loved my singing! As a Stat major I can't recommend her enough.
Professor McLaughlin makes this stats class a breeze. With open-note exams, helpful lectures, and resources like Unstuck study, you'll ace this course. Just stay engaged and you're set!
Amazing professor and interesting class. Exams are easy and she lets you take a cheat sheet into the exams. Its easy to just write terms on one side and do example problems on the other. She also gives an extra credit opportunity. Highly recommend taking stats with McLaughlin over other professors, she makes stats easy and surprisingly interesting
I highly recommend taking this class with this professor. She is great and very understanding. The content was tough for me personally, but she is actively trying to help you. You are allowed a cheat sheet on every exam, including the final. She also brings her very cute dog to lecture sometimes, which makes it even better! :)
I love her. Math has always been hard for me, but she made the material very digestable. You can also do unlimited extra credit pages, which definitely helped my grade.
She is the sweetest soul I ever met. She gives us so much opportunities to do extra credit and tries to help every single student on her best ability. There is two exam and a cumulative final, and one of the biggest extra credit she is doing a project which is not that hard to do. Go to office hours if you need help. Def recommend taking her class.
this class was really hard to follow along with if you're a non-math major or you're not very math oriented. the ta for my discussion wasn't helpful also, but lectures are recorded so that was good
prof mclaughlin is very sweet! she helped me a lot this semester and shes a very great professor. im just absolutely terrible at stats thats why my grade is low. the discussion course was not that bad, we had quizzes every other week that had like 5 questions and depending on the topic, they were easy. overall, a great professor, but hard class.
Professor McLaughlin is probably the best professor I've had at UConn so far. She truly wants everyone to succeed and offers essentially unlimited extra credit. She cares about the students and her lectures are very clear.
Awesome professor. Made learning about statistics easy and manageable. Definitely would recommend this professor if you are worried about stat.
Dr. McLaughlin is the best prof I've had at UConn. You can tell she really cares about her students learning and she loves to be there. She brings the best energy to class and she made me want to go to every single class. As long as you go to class you'll be fine. It is calculator heavy, but she teaches you exactly what to do.
Incredible professor! She had an amazing teaching style and really made sure her student understood the material. She's super sweet and approachable! Had quizzes in discussions, occasional homeworks and 3 exams including the final. As long as you study you should do well!
Kathleen is an amazing professor, and truly wants her students to succeed. She designed a notebook (Husky Book Bundle) that is exactly like her slides, which is amazing and makes taking notes easier. She explains things very thoroughly and is always available outside of class for help. She also records her lectures, but it is better to attend class
Easiest class ever. Every lecture is recorded, you dont need to come to class. Her exams were a breeze, and so many opportunities to get a better grade. HIGHLY recommend, easiest A ever.
This class is seriously great and easy to exceed in. She is the cutest. The lectures are all recorded, and 50% of your entire grade is homework and easy quizzes. Not to mention, the lowest grades are dropped. Exams are very easy if you take a day or so to review. 2 exams one final.
Amazing professor. For sure take her class. Super understanding, lots of extra credit, and made stats fun to learn. Took stats my senior year of high school and HATED IT. I took it this semester and I love it now. She posts lecture slides if you miss a class. Two exams (you are allowed a cheat sheet) and a cumulative final.
Such a good professor! This class was very easy to get an A because there were so many extra credit opportunities (including 10 extra credit points on exams). This professor was so sweet and I definitely recommend taking this class if you need a stats class! Also honors students I would definitely recommend doing the honors conversion!
VERY easy class as long as you attend lectures and pay attention! kathleen truly cares about her students and spends a lot of time in class going over examples and reviewing topics to make sure everybody understands clearly. 2 exams and a final, all which you are allowed to bring a cheat sheet. lots of homework but its super easy and boosts grade!
literally such a good prof
slayyyyyyyyyyy
She was fantastic, for someone that struggles with math I was so nervous to take this but she really helps. Go to lectures, plenty of extra credit opportunities, even the exams were easier because she allows a cheat sheet. lectures are also recorded if you miss class and slides are posted as well.
Super easy class. She really wants her students to do well and her lectures are given at a good pace. Two tests (exams) and a final exam worth the majority of your grade. Quizzes are fine and given in your discussion section. Lots of small homework assignments that can help boost your grade. Exams were fine and she tells you what you need to study.
Professor McLaughlin is a great professor - she explains all concepts really clearly and always does a good handful of examples during her lectures. She also makes it easy to do well in the class by giving extra credit opportunities on every exam, letting you use a cheat sheet during exams, and giving an optional research project.
By far one of (if not the) best professor I've had so far. Not only does she make an otherwise confusing class manageable, but she is the most kind and caring person. She makes relationships with students even in a lecture format, and you can tell all she wants is students to be successful. Such a great person.
By far my favorite professor at UConn! Such an easy class if you go to lectures and pay attention! There was also so many extra credit options if you need it, definitely would recommend this professor. Also would recommend the honors option for honors students!
An amazing teacher. Dry sense of humor and clearly cares about her students. If you show up, you will succeed!
Great professor, very kind and does a very good job at teaching this course. Her class consists of 3 major exams, weekly worksheets with chapter-related problems, as well as assignments completed on Minitab software. She's very easy to follow and accessible after class, and overall really passionate about the subject. One of my fav professors yet!
Dr. McLaughlin does a great job teaching the subject. She does not require attendance, but go to class regardless. I skipped out and my grade suffered from it. She helped me a lot during office hours to get my grade back up. If you put the work in, you'll do fine in this course.
I would take her class over and over 100 times. The textbook for the class is made by her and she has her own examples. She explains everything to make so much sense. She is hilarious. The exams are easy and she gives study guides that are exactly what is on the exam. I went to every lecture as it was such a friendly environment with an amazingprof
Please take her! Explains concepts very well and cares about her students!!!
While there may be easier stats professors to take, Kathleen will make sure you know your material. I have never had a professor so organized and note oriented. Be prepared to put in some work, especially with all of the out of class assignments, but she's an easy grader, there are open note tests, and you will be prepared for every exam.
Exams are all MCQ, she offers EC for giving in papers on bad stats in the news/media. She's very sweet and very approachable for questions.
Class so easy hella things to boost grade extra credit and even though I skipped every lecture u can tell she really cares about her students and wants them to succeed extremely clear of what's on the exam Easy A+ 1 hour a week of work.
I could've done so much better, but definitely do study. She gives so much extra credit and is really thorough with her explanations. Take her over anyone else; she really does want all her students to succeed. Explains very clearly what'll be on exams, homework is easy, and so is discussion.
She's the best professor I've had. I wish every professor was like her. She explains things very well, and provides easy to follow lectures. Her test never have any surprises. I would say it's very beneficial to go to lecture, and she gives you a paper copy book of her slides to make note taking easier. She's the best.
Very nice professor who is always available during office hours. Extra credit is abundant, and you can bring cheat sheets into all exams. However, she made comments like how she would quit if anyone got below an 80. While the class median for exams was 90, people who got below an 80 did not appreciate the comments about how easy the questions were.
