Teacher is nice and helpful if you see her in office hours. Definitely do the homework in order to better understand the material and those points add up at the end of the semester! Overall difficult material, but she tried to make things as clear as possible.
She is a very nice lady. Your grade is made up of 4 tests and 1 comprehensive final. she'll replace one test grade with whatever you made on the final (if it's higher), attendance, homework, and an ethics case (paper). The tests aren't too difficult if you study you'll do okay. She does go through the material in class pretty quickly but she'll slo
had her for intermediate acct, wonderful teacher and really good at helping if you dont understand, lots of in-class examples to help you fully understand subject, tests were tough but fair, got a B but almost had an A
just make sure to show up to class and do your homework. The tests usually have at least 30 points of it dedicated towards writing income summarys, balance sheets, etc.
She is one of the worst lecturers. So boring! Yes she is extremely nice but that doesn't make her a good teacher. Feel like I am her guinea pig as she learns how to do her job. Never felt testing was unfair until I took her! 50% of class unable to finish test and she seems to think thats admirable? Id rather have a harder but fair prof!
Very good professor! Go to her office hours after every test and see what you did wrong and she will help you through it. Also you can go to her for homework and everything else!! I would take her again for Intermediate 2 or another acc class if she taught one! I recommend her! Acc isn't easy but she does help you learn!
I LOVE her!!! The test are a little bit difficult but not that bad. You have plenty of time to finish the exam. The bottom line is that you HAVE to attend class to understand the material. She does a lot of problems in class that are beneficial. Homework is important and is graded easily. No projects or quizzes.
This class was really difficult and time consuming. You must do all the homework and attend every class to succeed. She explains the material well and is willing to answer questions but she is really bad about picking favorites and ignoring the rest. Tests are worth a lot on your final grade so you have little room for error.
Very good prof. She teaches hard concepts well and makes sure you understand. GO TO EVERY CLASS and turn in all homework. You need the points. Test are difficult because multiple choice is detailed from book. You must learn each calulation type prob w/o hesitation. Very awesome class! Do your work and you can easily get a B
She's a nice lady and all, but the class is pretty difficult. The amount of time given on the tests is sometimes not enough time to complete all the problems. Make sure you study all the computations and know them like the back of your hand or you will not succeed.
Her lecture is clear and helpful. Good in class exercises. She shreds tests only a few days after that and she expect u to see her to review tests. I went at the time she announced once but someone told me she'd gone for the day. Not as nice as she sounds. Not enough projects for students to practice hard material.
Super helpful if you go to her during office hours. I was sick for a week and she ran through all the material with me to catch me up. She does speak fast in class, but it's easy to follow along.
She is a wonderful professor. Study, do your HW, show up for the quizzes/tests and you'll do fine. She is fast-paced in class, but is very helpful when you have questions.
Class is very fast paced, she doesn't curve anything but i felt that she was a very fair teacher and really enjoyed the class.
This is one of the most difficult courses I've taken at TxState, but it's taught by one of the best professors. Attend class and do the homeworks you will be well prepared for the hard exams. Professor Moffitt is extremely helpful, so visit her office hours and email her if you have questions - she's quick to reply.
She is one of the best professors at Texas State. If you show that you care, put in a lot of time and effort, and go to her office hours there's no doubt in my mind she will help you out.
I highly recommend taking Moffitt for ACC 3313. She is nice, friendly, and provides chapter handouts that sum up the chapters really nicely. There was no online hw, but she posted lots of practice problems. She talks fast (I personally liked this), gets grades back quickly, and very helpful during office hrs. Quiz over each chapter so go to class!
Homework not mandatory but if you want to pass the course I recommend you do the homework. Quizzes are super easy. Study groups are very helpful. She doesnt curve, and her test are tough. at the Beginning of the semester she give a extra credit quiz (10pt) , the only extra credit she will give. Work hard and you will pass. Best ACC 3313 professor.
Intermediate Accounting I is a difficult course, regardless of the professor. The homework serves as optional practice: they are not graded, but you have access to the solutions. Therefore, your grade is determined only by the quizzes and exams. Moffitt does provide you with great chapter notes and in-class examples, so there are no surprises.
She moves through lecture quickly and the material can sometimes be dense. She will spend more time on the harder chapters which helps though. Also, make sure and do the homework even if its not graded; it will help during the tests. You can tell that she loves teaching and I wouldnt mind taking her again.
Although the class is tough she is definetely there for her students. One of the nicest teachers I have ever had. Quizzes over chapter. 4 tests, watch out for test 3 and test 2. Go to office hours. Go to class. If she is too fast for you, ask questions she will gladly accomodate questions and it will help your peers.
Very nice professor who is willing to help you. She talks very fast and mainly just reads from the handouts given, so class can get boring. Quizzes and tests are the only grades; no extra credit and homework is not graded, but helps a lot to do it. Tests are hard but if you don't skip and keep up with the material it's not bad.
Extremely difficult class, probably easiest teacher. GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS IF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE (cannot stress that enough). Go to class. If you miss a day, you are hurting yourself. She talks REALLY fast, so ask her to slow down if you need a moment. DO THE HOMEWORK, you will need all the practice you can get. READ THE CHAPTERS.
YOU MUST DO THE HOMEWORK! After every class I did the homework she assigned so I had my questions ready for the next class. I would begin studying about 3 days in advance of the test. REWORK THE HOMEWORK PROBLEMS UNTIL YOUR HANDS BLEED. Best advice I can give. Get as close as you can to a 100 on the first two tests to buffer for harder tests later.
You must keep up with reading the chapters assigned. She posts chapter notes which are insanely helpful. The more she goes over one subject in class the more important it is to know for the test. Give yourself plenty of time to study for the tests because the material is hard in itself, but she will do anything she can to help you understand it.
Moffitt is a fantastic professor who will help you out all she can. It is a hard class though, so just because she's great doesn't mean it's easy. She assigns homework FOR YOUR GOOD. DO IT. Stay on top of everything and don't be lazy and you'll do fine.
Take her!! She's an amazing professor and person. She genuinely care about you and your success. You have to put in the time and effort to the homework and studying but she makes it very realistic to pass with a B. Tests are hard so study at least a week before, and DO THE HOMEWORK even tho its not a grade it help tremendously.
Professor Moffitt is one of the BEST accounting professors on campus! 3313 is not an easy class especially if your an accounting major who has to make at least a B. She is great at explaining the new subjects and expanding on ones you've previously learned. If you want to learn and pass this course I HIGHLY recommend you take her!!!
She's nice and knows her stuff. Don't expect to sleepwalk through her classes. Keep up from Day 1 and you will be fine.
Amazing teacher. Her chapter handouts are beyond helpful and she goes above and beyond to make sure you understand the material. Quizzes are easy 100's, she usually goes over similar problems before taking it. Overall, if you go to class, read the chapter, use the handouts, and do the homework problems, you'll be good.
She is awesome. I retook this class with her and she explains everything so well and is willing to go back over whatever you don't understand. Go to her office hours if you need help, and do the homework! It helps, especially on tests. Print out the chapter notes for each class and study those for the final.
Best Accounting teacher I have ever taken, and I have taken many accounting classes. Go out of your way to take her for Inter. acct 1! You have to actually DO THE HOMEWORK and SHOW UP but if you have to pass it anyways then might as well do it with someone who is awesome. You will kick yourself if you take someone else, I promise.
Amazing professor. Tried to take same class (2361) with a different professor the semester before, had to drop. Took it again with Moffit and got a high A. Extremely nice, always open to questions. Gives participation points if you show up. Just wish I could take her again for upper level Accounting courses, she's that good. Don't miss out.
Skim the ch and do HW prior to class. Quizzes/handouts some of the free response on exam. Curb (if we had one) was not that generous. Study two weeks prior for the final, or at least 1 ch each day. You won't regret it. English GAs grade your ethics essays, so proofread before submitting. She is patient, nice, and helpful during office hours.
Attendance mandatory thru TOPHAT, part of grade. Lecture heavy but all she did in class was pull up PPT and read off of it verbatim almost. Boring. I didn't go to class, but you need to be a good self-studier. Accounting is not easy, she was very accessible w. office hours + nice lady 1 on one. Homework every single night
Professor Moffitt is kind, but her lectures are very fast paced, so be ready to read.
Her lectures we fast pace, but it wasn't hard to understand the material. She answers questions asked to her in class and sometimes gives us answers to homework in class. Attendance is mandatory, and helps. Overall, she was a good professor.
Professor Moffitt truly enjoys teaching and it incredibly kind/patient. This isn't an easy subject, but I appreciated the blend of online homework and in class lectures/practice examples which really helped me learn the accounting skills I need. Some incredible extra credit opportunities as well-- she is a gem
She's honestly one of the best professors you can take at TXST. She's super friendly and nice and extremely approachable. The material she's teaching isn't easy so you will need to put in effort. Most of the work for this class in terms of hw is online. She's honestly really great TAKE HER!!!
Professor Moffitt is really friendly and easy to go to for questions. Acct isn't the most easy class to grasp, but her lectures really help to dilute all the info. Tests are easy as long as you go to class and practice by doing the HW.
3 exams (watch out for exam 2), 1 final and there is extra credit. Accounting is not easy so make sure you go to class and ask questions. You will have to do a lot of work homework, connect, and Tophat. But other than that Professor Moffitt is a nice professor
Great professor! Her lectures and PowerPoints are really helpful. The only thing i didnt like was the lengthy numerous homework assignments we had, but at the end it was helpful.
Accounting sucks in general, shes very good if you're already good at accounting, but she goes way too fast for being a beginners class. Think Moffitt is the best option out of all of them. Accounting is HARD almost got a C and I've never even had a B.
Moffitt is an amazing professor. She is the department head for accounting so she is the best option for any of the accounting classes. She is a super nice lady and makes one of the most boring/ hard classes bearable. She is constantly sending out reminders of when things are due which is super helpful. Definitely make friends in this class.
Really sweet lady, she sends out tons of emails tho. I recommend!
Financial accounting was a very challenging but yet fun class for me. Accounting is not easy but if you try hard and ask her for help and feedbacks she wiill be sure to give you all the feedbacks you need. Take her for accountng if you want to enjoy it.
This class is hard in general. I did not appreciate her saying she didnt know when it came to questions on the test because she is in the accounting department. She also likes to bring people hopes up and doesnt go through with her word. Overall, this class is hard and if you dont live and breath it, you wont pass.
Wow this class is brutal but she was a great teacher. This class is difficult so I would definitely pay attention during lectures and do the practice problems at the end of the outlines bc some are on the tests! Refer to the outline and the study guides for test! Make yourself known and ask questions, it helps!
Lectures are fast paced and its difficult to take notes while trying to understand and digest info. I felt she does an amazing job at breaking down the calculations and steps for everything, but a lack of emphasis on the 'why'/'when' aspects to have a solid understanding of more technical aspects. HW/tests are a huge jump in difficulty from lecture
One of the best professors I have had and this is the first time I have written a review on this website. Do not just rely on her lectures though, Intermediate 1 requires lots of work outside of class.
She prefers to post an outline of the notes that are blank to start off, but you fill it out during lecture, so if you miss class, you have no notes or practice problems to study. Very helpful, though doesn't always respond to emails. Easily approachable. And there is a large semester project that takes around 40 hours to complete. Good luck.
If you want to do well in this class, you HAVE to stay on top of the stuff you don't understand. The videos in MyBusinessCourse help a ton, as does going over the homework problems and lecture notes. The biggest pain was definitely the project, so make sure you attend workdays (and lecture days) to get any help you can on the eSUA project.
She gives blank outlines before the class, so even if you miss you'll have a guide to work through on your own. eSUA project takes a while, but as long as you do a little bit every day it's doable. Tests are hard and the reviews weren't helpful, but she'll go over your mistakes in office hours. She WANTS you to pass, but you need to put in effort.
The homework and lectures made the material seem easy but the exams were ridiculously difficult. 80% of the classes failed the second exam so there was a massive curve. I think there should have been less emphasis on the eSUA and more on learning the material. Overall, Moffitt is a very nice professor and there is a lot of extra credit.
She is nice and available outside of class, but you have to teach yourself in this course. Tests are hard, homework is given online and does help a bit in understanding material. eSUA project is very time-consuming and useless. Graduate assistant Liesel Bass is rude and looks down on students. Super hard to even achieve a C. Not recommended
She was a good professor. The class is just hard itself. The eSUA project took a lot of time, homework, couple extra credits, and exams. We were never given a good review. The exams are pretty much all fill in the blank. If there were multiple choice it would have 6 options to choose from. Really have to teach yourself and spend time studying.
I had a terrible experience with her. Every time I asked a question she made me feel dumb and wouldnt really explain things to me and only gave me one to two word responses on emails. Goes over the material quickly and doesnt give you time to digest everything. You have to teach yourself and the reviews/hw are very misleading from the exam.
DO NOT take Moffitt's class. Exams are ridiculously difficult, in-class notes and review sheets are misleading and of little to no help on the exams, and she doesn't offer much useful guidance with the huge eSUA project outside of the workdays. If you want to at the very least just pass, study the material from the book and homeworks on your own.
This is the worst accounting teacher I have experienced at Texas State. Lectures are so fast-paced so there's very little time to ask questions. Test reviews are the exact opposite of what is on exam, and she cannot explain the discrepancy. Creates a lot of busy homework that isn't relevant to exams, such as the big ESUA project. Take anyone else!
Ruined my 4.0 with this class lol Way too many eSUA workdays, the projects extremely easy to do outside of class. Lectures aren't really helpful. The tests are nothing like homework/smartbooks, she doesn't curve despite test averages of around 60. Nearly half of my class didn't even show up to the final, if that says anything
Moffitt's not bad just fast paced and wants you to think to actually learn. ESUA(project) requires LOTS of time outside of class, do not try to do it only in class. Study chapters and lecture notes and try. She does want you to succeed, its just an upper level, difficult class. Long smartbooks assignments. Just try for this class + go to SLAC.
Moffitt is an awesome professor if interested in accounting as a career, for those that are taking her course as just for credits choose another... The EUSA project alone is the most frustrating project I've done in college, flawed direction, no help from professors, and unknowingly you need 100% on each subsection or you will fail by year end.
The class goes over the first five chapter of INTERMED ACCT. Ask questions if confused, she will gladly help you out. STUDY HER IN CLASS NOTES and online homework workout problems. The group project was a hassle but the last part of the project was curved. The class isn't easy but if you put in the work and time you should be fine.
You spend 4 or more hours doing EACH hw and smartbook, 3-5 due a week. She took it upon herself to give Excel projects because "recruiters give feedback to TXST that graduates aren't great with Excel...THIS ISNT A CIS CLASS. Spends 15 minutes giving a PSA on why you should join macy and other events instead of teaching. Shouldn't be a professor
Had to drop this proffessor because my grade was so bad. Just talks way to fast and does fill in the blank lecture material. To much HW and excel projects
Class itself is very tough and fast paced. Her notes are structured in a way that you are able to keep up with writing, but you will have to study outside of class, it is intermediate so that's to be expected. She does a great job structuring the difficult class.
Course itself is challenging & def requires extra time outside of class. HW is mcgraw hill & can be very tedious at times, but helps you understand material. 70% of grade is tests, but study a lot and do hw & you'll pass. Also has guest speakers come in who give good insight to career choices in acc/finance. Take her fs but be ready to put in effort
this class requires effort. The tests are worded in a way that is designed to trick you unless you have a full understanding of the material. She lectures quickly but if you have questions she does a good job answering. Her outlines are also great. she drops lowest quiz score and replaces lowest exam with the final, so study!
This is the best professor for this class. This is a hard class but the lectures are very well structed with fill-in notes and practice problems so everything you need to know will be in your notes. She does not post her notes so make sure you go to class. The test are more challenging but if you study and use the given resources you will get a A.
She talks really quickly during lecture. Homeworks take LONG time to do. My biggest complaint is that she actively tries to confuse students on concept questions on exams. This woman eats, breathes and sleeps accounting so if you'e a non-accounting major, get ready to have it shoved down your throat all semester. But at least she's nice.
One of the best accounting professors we have at Texas State. This class is relatively easy if you took financial accounting and retained the information. The homework takes a long time but is your best study guide. Doing the homework over and over is your best bet to do well on the tests if you spend time learning the material you will do well.
Moffitt is GREAT!!! She is very nice and approachable. She provides guided notes and great study material. I would take her again and encourage anyone to take her class.
Everyone here giving good ratings I can assure is an accounting major. The most disappointing thing about this class is reading the course description expecting one thing and yet its nothing like it. Nothing ties back to real world practical applications, all 5 chapters covered are just a review of our first Fin Acct class it seems. So much HW too
Professor Moffitt is an inspirational professor and person. I am honored to be given the opportunity to experience her warmth and learn from her. I've never had a professor as supportive and uplifting as Kathy. She cares about every student as if they were her own children. She's an amazing asset to Texas State University.
Moffitt is a great accounting professor who has a genuine love for the industry and her students. There is a substantial amount of homework in this class, around three assignments per week, but the vast majority of your grade is from the exams. As long as you study and regularly attend classes you will be fine.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! She actually made me want to show up to class. Tough class but she is there for you in every way to make it as easy as possible. Sweetest woman ever and will do anything to help any student succeed in class and help any student with any problems they have, class-related or not. TAKE HER!
Professor Moffitt is a really kind lady who wants her students to succeed in their career. However, her lectures are very hard to follow, so be ready to read the textbook. Test questions are worded very weird.
She's a nice lady but does not teach . She simply just reads through the slides as quickly as she cans and takes the whole class period to answer questions about the cpa . Do not take her if you like teachers that actually teach. We also have a lot of hw and other assignments don't take her if you don't like spending hours on hw each week.
Overall kind teacher but her way of teaching is very rushed. Excel projects were confusing/difficult. Lots of homework. Tests were worded in a way to confuse students.
Best professor hands down. She provides a lot ways to learn the material. The SI sessions weren't all that helpful because they were rush but the tutors in Alkek are. Everything that she teaches prepares you for the exams. Go to class, tutoring & complete her practice exams on & you'll pass the class.
If you want to be able to do well in this class, you have to apply yourself and actually take the time outside of class to really study. Also being able to read the notes that she has on the PowerPoint really will set you up for success. Out of all of the exams, exam two was the hardest and the accounting cycle was an easy 100.
She's a decent professor, but if you're not an accounting major, I'd avoid her. She lives and breathes accounting and mostly reads off the slides. Success depends on how much you study. The homework and assignments were long, and the exams were difficult and often confusing. SI sessions and practice problems helped.
All grades depend on exams and she doesn't drop any. Exams are 75% work of the class and the other 15% is assignments. She does not allow you to go over your exams either to see how you can improve. She doesn't offer any extra credit and she really only talks about how to do well in the CPA exam. Don't take her if you do not major in accounting.
IF YOU AREN'T AN ACCOUNTING MAJOR DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Attendance is a grade. Exams are 75% of grade if you don't study you will fail. A-lot of resources but no Extra Credit. LOTS of homework. Tests are made to make you struggle, worded weirdly, gives a review but hardly any of it is on the test.
Moffitt is a good professor. Tbh all the "dont take if not accounting major" stuff seems a little dramatic. Also don't understand the complaints about homework, there really wasn't much. Exam 2 is the toughest, but if you just do the assigned work and study an A is doable. Guest appearances were cool, would def recommend.
A good portion of this class is review from intro to financial accounting. Moffitt is a very clear lecturer, however she does talk quickly. It's best to have the PowerPoints pulled up on your computer while taking notes to ensure you don't miss important material. Keep on top of work and pay attention in class and you will have not problem passing.
