Nice, but not clear on assignments or grades, lectures a lot, and to many books
VERY EASY, TOO MANY BOOKS TO READ, EASY TO CHEAT ON ALL QUIZZES
loves to hear the sound of her own voice. cheatable quizzes. dont read the books just wait for her to tell you about it in class. cliff notes help.
ez professor. can cheat on quizzes. fun class
easy!!! just a lot of reading. but i never read and just bull the papers and exam.
hella easy. didnt even read anything.
Very nice teacher. her lectures are a little boring but the class is easy. Lots of quizzes on the readings
Did not welcome questions or opinions.. It was a class for creative thinking in literature and there was no acceptance of creativity
Way too many books to read, but quizes/tests/papers were easy.
way too many books to read!
There are a lot of books to read but she tells you everything that happened in the story the next day. A few quizzes, just read cliff notes! Only 2 papers and you pick the topic!!
She isn't very clear on assignments but it doesn't really matter because she allows you to do whatever you want on your essay. Like others said lots of reading.
books are ok but she wants u to read them really fast. The tests are all quote ID's which sucks.
Bring a pillow
Put some effort into your essay and she will reward you. Her tests are pretty detailed so you really have to do the reading. Generally a Nice lady who will help you out.
The class is the easiest you'll ever find. You don't even have to read the books. Pop-up quizes are based on the lecture she gave on that day. Easy grader on papers and curves on tests. I passed with a B+ and never read a book completely.
This teacher is very easy. Only a couple of essays. No homework. Don't even have to read just listen to her lectures and will get an A in the class.
Basically the only necessity of the class is to show up. She gives detailed reading quizzes and grades essays easily. She also gives tons of extra credit. Class is way boring though...
She tries to keep students interested some are very rude. I think she does a good job adn likes what she does.
Real easy class--if you SHOW UP! I didn't read anything, yet still got an A. Don't buy books besides the ones you need to write essays on! She summarizes the whole story in class, just don't fall asleep as it does get BORING. Nice lady, though = )
loved this class! she has such a passion for what she does and she was very approachable. take her your essay and have her read it before its due and youll get an a on it
Easy class!!!! Just go and listen and take notes and you will do fine. Easy A!! Very nice lady, but class is WAY boring!!
her class is pretty boring but she's a pretty easy. you dont have to buy the books because she basically goes over eveything in class so just pay attention. that might sound easy but its hard not to fall asleep in that class.
this was an easy class...i didn't read a thing and i still got a B...incredibly boring as well.
She goes over every quote she puts on the test. Test are easy all you have to is glance at the books and review notes. All notes are available online. She takes roll everyday so if you are going to miss find a friend in the class. lectures are really boring only class i have ever fallen asleep in.
This is a great class! She keeps it clear when it comes to work...If you like English, this is the best class to take, you will learn a lot...
Such a nice teacher, really understanding if you need to turn something in late. Not very difficult and offers extra credit. Take her!
OMG.. I loved this class. Tests are super easy. Gives so much EXTRA CREDIT. Just know basic things on readings. RWS 100 and RWS 200 were harder than this class. Puts notes on blackboard. Easy to get an 'A' in the class. Even easier to get a 'B' Jus 2 essays and 2 tests for the whole semester
easiest class I have ever taken. maybe because it is an exact repeat of high school AP class??. seriously...anyone will do well.
so easy. DO NOT buy the novels. only the class reader is needed. (dont waste your money and time), go to class because she takes attendance. it is worth it because she will tell you every single thing you need to know for the 2 tests. she wants you to get a good grade, and to like english as well.
She's a very nice person, and an easy grader. It can get boring at times, but she tells you everything that's expected on tests and papers. Very helpful. Recommended!
She's a very nice and caring teacher. She takes attendance though so you HAVE to go to class, or have a friend sign you in. She goes through her powerpoints ridiculously fast but she posts them online so don't stress about taking notes, plus she makes a course reader with notes as well. Take her, little effort=A
i had her at Mesa for ENG 205 in 2001. i got an A; her assignments were actually fun to write about. she's a great professor! it's great to see that past and present students continue to appreciate her. do what she asks and you'll be fine. she's kind and humorous.
Decent teacher, easy class. Its possible to get through class without any reading, which i did and got an A. class is boring though.
easy. go to class, listen to her lectures, and ace the tests. no reading neccesary. she is extremely nice and really wants you to get an A. i would reccommend her to anyone.
If you love Harry Potter take her class. EVERYTHING is Harry Potter. If you liked Harry Potter you will hate it after her class. With that being said, the class is great. It's not that hard, just do the work. Shumate is a nice and helpful. Lectures are BORING, but just show up and you'll do fine. Shumate loves what she does!!
Think one of the easiest 220 classes out there. Everything you need besides novels are in reader. Everything she puts on the study guides are on the exam +some. Not hard at all to get an A in the class. Fun/easy ec too on exams. Lectures/class activities can be random but not that boring. Sweet lady.
i either slept in class or didnt go and still got a B. never read. her tests were so easy!!!!
Her class is not that difficult. Make sure you study the Power Point presentations and you should at least get a B. I got an A, and did not read the books. Extra credit assignments available. 2 exams, and an easy paper.
such a sweetheart! the kindest prof u will ever find. she is so understanding, and always wants the best for students. the lectures r fairly boring, but u sometimes have to go for class activities. tests r based on powerpoint lecture, so study them very well! if u do that then its an easy A
Go to class. It'll slightly reduce study time for her tests. and take advantage of extra credit. Highly recommend.
This one of the easiest class i've taken. she gives a lot of extra credit points which is good. and your exams are quite easy if u study. Plus all the exams are based on power point lectures that she gives and posts on blackboard, so you dont have to take notes in her class. I recommend taking this class if u just want an easy GE grade.
this class was pretty easy for a literature class. her tests weren't all that hard, you just need to study her powerpoint notes. the only thing i didn't like were the essays that we had to write for our tests because we you had to do 2 mini essays in 50 minutes along with the multiple choice section. but overeall easy class.
Awesome professor, really easy, lectures are pretty interesting if ur into the books (frankenstein, lord of the rings). Shows a lot of movies and offers a lot of extra credit. Everything on tests is directly from the powerpoints which she posts on blackboard.
I took Shumate for English 306 w and we were only in class about 10 weeks out of the semester. For each essay, she has conferences, which you only need to go to your scheduled time. It is great. She is an easy grader also!!! I would reccommend her!!!!
Prof Shumate is thorough in her lectures. She gets the information to us students, gets to the point, then lets us go. She doesnt waste our time. The essay topics leave a lot of room for creativity and she gives good feedback during conferences. She is understanding about absences and posts all class power points on blackboard for those times.
I started out in RWS 92A and managed to get an A in this class, so if you don't get at least a B you are just sad. I didn't read any of the stories. You just have to study her P.P. notes. She wasn't given a T.A. this semester so she didn't make us write a single essay. Her final has a lot of extra credit points in it.
VERY easy class. You go over Frankenstein, Lord of the Rings, Much Ado About Nothing, poetry, and short stories. I didn't read any of the stories, as long as you read her power points and read up on cliff notes. No essays. Gives extra credit. Takes role though.
This class was great. got an A and I enjoyed the way she taught. Powerpoints were always up on blackboard (in case u missed class) and her mult choice test had only 3 choices, making it easier to get the right answers. Read the lectures online and come to class often (she has pop attendance quizes worth 10 pts EC!) & you should pass w/ least a B+
Great Teacher, Material are not hard, attendance are madantory. She posted all her notes on blackboard, just have to read them and memorize all the material and you'll do great. A lot of extra credit opportunity
A very digestable literature class. Much easier and interesting than what I had in high school. You don't really need to read any of the books as long as you study her powerpoint. Don't be intimidated by poetry, it was fairly easy and she does a good job with it. Also she doesn't overwelm you with analyizing them. Gives extra credit as well.
She posts all her slides on Blackboard, but attending class counts for points. She gives out a lot of extra credit. Theres two midterms, a quiz, and a final. You dont need the student handbook, just borrow it from another student for the first midterm. Easy A if you know the stuff.
This class is an easy A. Mandatory to go to class - she passes around a rollsheet. Exams are multiple choice - maaaaad easy; study lecture notes; she posts her notes on BB.
The EASIEST class I've ever taken. Take her if you want an A. All you have to do is study the ppt slides b/c majority of the info on there is in the exams. No papers, lots of extra credit. Go to class b/c she takes role.
BORING CLASS...TO MUCH KIDS STORY AND A LOT OF MEMORIZING...MOST STUDENTS WERE GOOD AT IT BUT IF DISLIKE MEMORIZING DONT TAKE HER...BORING!!
EASY CLASS TO GET AN A IN. YOU DONT EVEN HAVE TO READ ANY MATERIAL FOR HER CLASS. JUST BE SURE TO ATTEND CLASS AND PAY ATTENTION TO HER LECTURES. REEEEEAAAALLY EASY TEACHER. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER IF YOU MUST TAKE THIS CLASS!
I got an A and don't think i ever payed attention. All points in the class come from attendance and quizzes using the clickers. She also offers extra credit. However she is hard to understand because it is a large lecture class and she doesn't use a microphone. The whole class is basically one huge power point.
This class is the easiest A ever! I did not read any of the books assigned, nor did I studied from the power point slides: the quizes are SO easy, that you don't even have to. Attendance is mandatory and she gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. I did not learned anything, though.
I thought i was in 4th grade during this class. SOO easy. No studying, no papers, no tests, a tone of extra credit. The points are based entirely on clicker questions every class. The answer is ALWAYS "all of the above" or "true" trust me. Do not answer anything else and you will get an A. i finished with 98%
Just going to class will get you a passing grade. She likes to talk about Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, etc. She gives a lot of extra credit. There is no reason to fail her class because its so darn easy. I found her material sometimes interesting.
Easiest class ever. Just show up and either listen to her lecture or print out the lectures online. Her quizzes are clicker questions and the questions come straight out of the lecture. She takes attendance everyday with the clickers. But there is no final, no midterm, no paper. Just participation, extra credit and quizzes. Simple.
EASIEST CLASS IVE EVER TAKEN IN MY LIFE! Best teacher to get greedy in. Passed with a 96% without doing a single thing.
DO NOT BUY ANY OF THE BOOKS!!!! she gives exams and quizzes on clickers so its easy to cheat. She curves to the average. so she takes the average score and makes it an A, so anyone who scores higher, gets a super A+. TAKE HER!!!! just make sure u go 2 class.
easiest class i've ever taken. EVER. if you can take this class, take it! she's really sweet and in love with what she teaches too which is nice.
this is THE EASIEST class I have ever taken. Dont bother buying any of the books because she goes over it in class. No papers to write. Quizzes and tests are used with clickers. Didnt read anything and pulled an A in the class.
Easy A. Attendance is mandatory, she takes attendance through clickers. Interesting read such at Lord of the Rings, the Fellowship of the Ring. Lots of short clips used for clarity on class material readings. No finals or midterms, just tests on readings. Highly recommended. Lots of extra credit assignments, too.
Dont buy the book, you have to go to calcopy for a book you wont use. Buy the novels she makes you read only. All her notes are in blackboard, easy to read and understand. Attendance is mandatory for points but the class is easy and if you put attention you dont even have to study for her clicker quizzes or test. Take it!!
class was really easy. only had a few classes to go to and then we just turned in papers. 3 papers. don't really need to go to previous classes. enjoyable. didn't really learn to much after the first few classes but otherwise writing was good!!!
She is an amazing teacher and extremely helpful at all times. The writing assignments were fair and I learned a lot! I recommend this teacher to anyone who plans to take Engl Lit.
Only met a few times as a class at the beginning of the semester. Have 3 conferences throughout the semester to go over the paper you are writing. Gives a thorough rubric to make sure you are on the right track with your paper. Very understanding and helpful, if you are not sure about a paper, she will take the time to help you out.
Easy Easy Easy. I don't know what the person before me is talking about. she is so sweet and always makes herself available. Only meet like maybe 10 days the whole semester. Essays are all less than 5 pages and you only have to do 3 of them. Super easy A.
Great! Best Choice ever! Easy A. A few easy essays which she helps with during a short 5-10 minute conference and reviews your drafts with you. No final exam. Meet few times during semester as a class, then just show up for your conference and turn in paper! Awesome!
This class was great, everything was on clickers. She does take attendance but you're allowed to do at least 40 points of extra credit on top of all the extra credit she gives after "clicker tests". Definitely take her, we didn't have a single paper. Plus she's really nice. All powerpoints and videos that are all posted online.
Great class! super easy! you don't even have to read anything! everything is on powerpoints. and clicker tests are based on them. Just go to class because she takes attendance, but there's a bunch of extra credit too! no final! semester's not even over yet, but our class is already done 2 weeks before! she goes through everything thoroughly, and ma
She's an awesome professor! No final, no papers, just tests after each section we go over, really easy. Class is mandatory for points, but it's really interesting, like Story time hour! I enjoyed it. Passed with an A. Don't need to buy course reader, she goes over everything in class.
BORING! She's a nice lady, but boring as hell. Make sure you meet the quote requirement, or she will simply give you a zero on the assignment (happened to me, brought my grade to a C+).
okay, so taking this class because its a required one and well.. not what expected.. actually pretty difficult and COMPLETELY UNORGANIZED. it would be a jokingly easy class if you really ever knew what to do. discussion board is a pathetic mess and just finding out what i have to do by what time is the hard part.. group work is very awkward too.
This class is a joke. There is pretty much no work. All you do is show up, take attendance, take a clicker quiz and post a paragraph on the discussion board. No tests or essays. The class is boring but a cake walk. The course is also very disorganized, half the time I didn't know what was due. Group work is easy but a little awkard. EASY A!!!
Horrible in every way...boooooring, anal, and worthless to my education
Unless you want to highly improve your doodling skills, don't take this class.
such a sweet lady! INCREDIBLY easy class, all you really have to do is actually go to class since attendance is mandatory and she does clicker quizzes. the books required for the class are all easy reads (charlottes web, walk two moons, huckleberry finn), and there's just a clicker quiz after each one. final was on harry potter, need i say more.
Class is easy. She does blackboard quizzes on the days learnings for points, and one question quizzes for attendance. She relies heavily on blackboard, which can be annoying, but her quizzes are easy points if you were in class. She teaches by Power Point, which can be boring, but if you're looking for an easy A in 220, this is the way to go.
Really Nice Lady. She went from clickers to blackboard (which obviously worked in students favor). Easy-going to finish with A+. Pretty much story time (good/bad how u look at it). Cons-2 awkward presentations(harry potter deathly hallows/frankenstien) she expects u to have 'read' them. spark em.
Easy A, if you do everything and not slack like I did! Class is boring and she likes to talk about horses and strange things but she is really nice. Everything is pretty much through Blackboard but that's way better than clickers, which she used to do! We had 2 presentations, not a fan. Don't miss assignments.
super easy!! do all assignments because there are not a lot of points. offers extra credit. class is super boring talks about her back yard and horses. make friends in class to get the password to get attendance point for the day for blackboard. 2 group assignments that were super easy! and probably 10 at most blackboard discussions and quizzes
One of the most easiest classes ever ! Easiest final in the world, you just analyze a poem. Finished it in 5 minutes. This class reminded me of AP Literature in high school, except a WHOLE LOT easier. It may be an easy class, but just make sure that you don't forget to do the assignments and tests on blackboard. That's it, easy A. a Sweet Professor
EASIEST class! Never studied, just did what the assignments on blackboard and didn't study for everything. Basic common sense is all you need for exams and your golden- grades were just posted and I have 100% in the class. TAKE THIS CLASS.
Take this class if you want an A
She is extremely nice and helpful. Plenty of chances to review and correct papers before turning them in. She even helps you review them! Yes, take this class if you want an A. Well worth my time.
Super easy, make sure you are there every day though for the clicker questions. At first may seem like it will take work but essays are easy. There is no final and you watch a lot of movies near the end of the class. Gets easier as semester passes, recommended!
SUPER easy. Group work/presentations are done in class. Almost no outside work (except printing stuff out). Must buy clicker to get attendance/quiz credit. Tests are not hard at all. Can be boring but as long as you show up and somewhat listen you can get an A easily
Very easy and pretty interesting class. She's nice, and helpful. A few presentations, blackboard assignments, easy and straightforward tests. Attend class, bring clickers, submit all assignments and you're pretty much guaranteed an A.
Easy class if you do all the reading and follow her instructions on how to write essays.
Shumate is very passionate about her teachings. She is really nice and helpful and will work with you if you let her. Easy class as long as you participate and do the essays.
She is absolutely adorable! She truly loves what she does and is willing to help you in any way possible. Class is mandatory but she gives clicker "quizzes" that are very easy and she explains the answers right before. No tests just one blue book question and instead of a final there is just a small quiz. Easy A.
Shumate is very knowledgeable and willing to help when you're confused. We wrote 4 essays over the course of the semester, and three of those essays were short responses to questions. She is very nice and the clicker questions are always explained right before. And she grades on a really high curve! Loved this class!!!
I was completely excited to take this course when I registered. However, she made me hate this class. We listen to her lecture us about books we have read and have to listen to class presentations. They are the same topic but diff books. For the Hobbit, she gives a page by page summary. It is super easy but Do not take!
You don't have to get any of the novels I just sparked notes all of them. Weekly assignments that are 400 words, not bad. I was in the Tuesday only lecture and my god those lectures were long, 2 hours if you're lucky. But she is such a sweet lady. class is mandatory for clicker points which really help your grade.
very assignment based, takes a lot of time. quizzes every week. midterm consisted of writing 5 essays in one week. Final was 3 essays. there was a very long quiz that was put out after the final that took me 2 hours to complete. WAY too much work for a GE class. I thought this teacher was easy.
Quizzes and discussion board every week online, one group project, a midterm, and a final. Don't be afraid to ask questions, there are times where you need her to explain something for the assignments. Easy A if you can read and write, but you need to put in effort. Going to class can be the difference between an A and a B.
I had Shumate once a week and her lectures felt super long. There are clicker questions every week. This class is an easy B if you put in minimum effort and turn in all the work required. My advice is to read the books required for the Midterm because she grades them hard.
A big part of your grade is clicker questions so make sure you go to class. Lectures and long and boring. A LOT of TEDIOUS busy work. Weekly online assignments and the midtermfinal end up being like 10 pages long. If I went to class more and actually read the books, would have gotten an A. Slack off and you can still manage a B.
Three 5 page stories, a revision, and some homework (but it's easy). Highly recommend if you need to boost your GPA!
This class helped me not only for the GE requirement, but it got me into reading for fun again. The books are all easy to read and are very enjoyable. The presentation is easy to do and the tests/quizes are straightforward if you read the books and go to class. You do have to buy a clicker for this class, but you can just use the app on your phone.
Midterms (2) + Final (1) 5 short essays each follow instructions for full credit Weekly Quizzes mostly from SparkNotes In-Class Questions clicker needed Professor seemed uninvolved despite interesting subject material. Class was easy overall, but required a lot of reading/writing. Class B average. Recommended for grade-seekers.
She is really nice and very quiet. I didn't really get any feedback on my essays though. Do the work she assigns and it is an easy A.
Great for an Easy A. Took course online and material is mostly based off Watchmen & the 80's. Very vague on grading criteria and what she wants. 2 group projects and 1 essay with light hw. I received a B because of 1 missed assignment and a couple Watchmen quizzes. Overall, easy, just turn in the work. Also, she is horrible with communication.
While she is extremely lenient and the class is an easy A, this professor is by far one of the most boring I have ever had. It's sad because it seems like she cares about the material, but she is so monotone and her powerpoints are ridiculous - all over the place & way too long. I love school but it was a struggle for me to show up for this class.
Easy A here. HOWEVER, 20% is clicker points so if you aren't gonna show up then never mind there. Class has some interesting material and it was pretty fun reading the books throughout the semester. However, I will say her lectures can be a littttttle dry so be prepared there. Oh and also be ready for group projects. Fun class still, and easy.
This was one of the easiest classes I have ever taken! There were 5-7? required books to read for this course, and I read only one of them and still managed to get an A. In order to do well, you simply have to go to class (clicker points are 1/5 of your grade), do well on your group project, and do the weekly quiz/discussion board!
You can tell she's really interested in the material she teaches. Multiple assigned books to read, but she'll often show movies or clips of the books/plays discussed in class which can help if you don't read. Three short group projects, semi-weekly blog posts, online quizzes, must show up for attendance clicker points. Easy and interesting class.
Professor Shumate was a great English teacher. She is very passionate about the class books. Her class mainly consisted of group projects and was overall very interesting. You'll need a clicker.
Shumate is the best! Class consisted of lecture, group discussions on awesome books and group presentations. Grade consists of attendance with clicker, group projects, online quizzes, and giving other classmates feedback on their presentations that's it! Loved this class, super chill, you learn about great books, and caring passionate professor.
Shumate is very sweet, understanding, and easy going. She wants all her students to pass the class. I loved Shumate's sense of humor. She is very relatable and made it fun to go class. You need to use blackboard quite a bit to do HW. Show up to class, read, and participate in the discussions and you will be fine. I recommend taking this class.
I really enjoyed her class. Took creative writing with her. The only thing she really grades are short stories and the group feedback. Albiet, she did cancel class many times so it made it stressful for the class to squeeze the last few feedback, and in the end, didn't get everyone. She honestly just wants you to be creative and that's it.
Very monotone and speaks slowly making lectures super boring. Luckily, most of the coursework is researching various folklore topics solo or with a group and discussing your findings in class. No exams. Final is a 10 minute presentation. Extremely easy class, but could be hard if you're truly terrified of public speaking. Grade will drop if absent.
I've taken all the classes Prof Shumate teaches bc she is such a caring and knowledgeable prof. Her class is unlike any other class I've taken. Very straightforward with grading / deadlines & always picks AMAZING books for us to do are assignments on. Overall amazing prof and do you assignments you'll do great in the class. Take her!!
Professor Shumate is so sweet. Her Childhood's Literature course was super easy and interesting. She takes attendance with clickers but as long as you show up and listen you will get an A! There are a couple group projects, a few quizzes, and discussion board posts. She is very understanding and an easy grader. Would definitely recommend!
Very organized but audio can be off. If you just do the assignments on time you should get an A. Despite the syllabus being stern she is an incredibly lenient grader. There's a group project, even leeches get full credit, you have the option of doing it yourself. Focused on some modern books. I wouldn't call Hunger Games childhood literature.
really easy class. you dont really have to read any books for the class because she goes into detail about each book in lectures. you have to do a few discussion posts every two weeks and one final project on a book from the class list. no tests or essays
Probably one of the easiest classes I have had, a hidden gem if you ask me. You get to read fun books and write short discussion posts.
Instructions are unclear a lot. Lectures don't help with explaining concepts or material. Makes us reading a bunch of chapter books (that aren't exactly children's literature.. more like young adult) rather than teaching us much. Lectures have poor quality audio and is hard to hear. Uses old lectures and doesn't make new ones with better audio.
This class was asynchronous for me. It was extremely easy but I didn't like it because I didn't know what I was doing until halfway through the semester. Weekly discussion posts are easy. There are two main projects due at the end of the semester. One of them is a group project but you can do it alone if you want.
if you need to take a class for a ge the online courses are very easy and good for that. I wouldn't recommend for anyone who is more serious about the topic though.
Dr. Shumate is a very kind professor. She let us turn in late assignments, she gave us extra time to complete discussions when there was a lot of reading, and she gives feedback if you make any errors in your work. I definitely recommend this class for anyone who is not an English major, but likes to read.
I would recommend this course, I don't know what's up with those low scores. The course is about reading novels and participating in discussions, three times a week, 3-5 sentences at a time is all you need. The grading will not be very strict, just focus. Quiz not ez.But you'll be fine.
This class was super easy and fun
i really enjoyed professor shumate's english course online. we learned about things that were interesting, and i really liked how everything connected throughout the semester, plus i really enjoyed interacting with my peers about things that we had the same and very different thoughts about. the assignments were thought-provoking and fun for me!
Professor Shumate keeps her class flexible and she is understanding. Highly recommend.
I cannot recomment Professor Shumate enough. She is so organized and has a clear grading criteria. You have all of the assignments for the semester available from the start. She provides a tentative schedule, but gives you until the last day of the semester to turn in assignments without penalty.
This professor is so kind about deadlines and workloads. If you want to take an English class but you're worried about strict deadlines, please take this one. There's some really interesting material throughout the semester, too, so it's a great choice!
Professor Shumate's course is wonderful! This class is at your own pace, with lots of creative freedom. This class is the perfect opportunity to strengthen your creative writing skills.
The professor was good but the TA is a menace and not understanding. You will spend hours for assignments to receive a zero over the smallest reasons.
Professor Shumate was a very kind professor through her feedback and watching her asynchronous lectures. She had very soft deadlines in which I procrastinated and resulted in a lower grade, but she is very understanding and I would suggest following the schedule versus waiting until the end to submit everything. Be ready to read a handful of texts!
Took her class based on a recommendation. Lectures helped with assignments and inspiration for the work. Some of the readings were awkward in trying to access them, but I made do with what I could access. Schedule is set as a soft reminder rather than a hard deadline. Perfect summer course. I wish she gave more formal feedback on my writing though.
Folk lit online class. Lots of work and some of it is busy work, but just don't wait till the last minute and it'll be easy. Besides the amount of work (you can space it out easily) it was a pretty fun/whimsical class. Would potentially take another one of her online courses but it def shocked me at first from how many assignments
Professor Shumate runs a pretty chill class. The readings are engaging, and as long as you stay on top of the discussions, the workload is manageable. unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for prepping the quizzes. Overall, a solid choice for an online elective.
Honestly, it was a lot of work. You will most likely receive a 100 on every assignment if you do them, but this course requires you to read multiple books and watch a few movies, so the assignments are a bit of a struggle to do if you don't know the content. If you're looking for an easy art credit, I suggest choosing something else.
Easy A+ class, I will say I learned a bit. But her lecture style was a con for me. Everything is online but the lecture slides are outdated, and sometimes video audio wouldn't even work. She is also a very slow speaker so half of the time I was watching them in 1.75x speed. You're pretty much guaranteed an A on assignments if you just do it.
Easy A class as long as you do the work but the lectures weren't great. The slides looked outdated, and the audio/video sometimes didn't work. She's a really slow speaker, so I had to wathc at 2x speed. If you just do the assignments you'll get an A.
This professor is super sweet and caring, providing super interesting material that is actually fun to get into. She is very easy on grading, and just looks for honest thoughts and opinions. I took her self-paced class, she is very easy on grading and although there are a lot of assignments, it is very doable.
as long as you read the books you will be fine. She is supper understanding and caring. I highly recommend her.
This was an easy online class. The work wasn't hard, you can get assignments done fast. I have no complaints about this class.
She is a very kind person who cares about student's learning and what she teaches. Any emails I've exchanged with her have been very pleasant. Super due date lenient - she removed due dates from all assignments in my ECL220. This class being online made it super accessible to anyone especially because it is very "at your own pace."
The class is super easy. The discussions are bare minimum. Just include everything she's asking for in the prompt in an efficient manner and hit the word limit. She sets due dates but she always changes it to the final class date. I liked that it was a very much hands off class. Everything is laid out and all you have to do is submit stuff.
Easy class, just keep up with the readings and you'll get an A. One presentation, a few quizzes that are open-book/open-note, and weekly discussions that altogether aren't too difficult. There aren't any hard deadlines and she allows assignments to be submitted until the end of the semester for full credit, which is a major plus.
