I highly recommend this professor. Not only did did she make class very interesting but what we learned you can easily apply it in the real world. We have 3 speeches one of which is a group symposium. also one midterm and a final. no reason for someone not to get an A.

Very understanding and helpful. She is also funny and very nice. You actually learn in this class and also interact with other students which is lots of fun. Take it during a normal semester, not summer because its so easy its not worth doing it over a short period of time.

Awesome teacher, makes the entire class one amazing experience. The entire class feels like one big group that's known each other for ages. There's always some sort of participation and even the most shy students were able to break out of their shells and deliver great speaches by the end of the semester.

Coming into this class, I was scared****less of public speaking. I am now able to speak comfortably in front of a crowd and I owe it all to Dr. Watson. She makes class fun and she is so passionate about the subject. The class consists of a three speeches and some writing assignments - pretty simple stuff. Overall, I highly recommend the class.

She's great.She's easy, helpful,and shows that she wants to help students overcome their qualms about speaking in public.She makes it less unnerving with humor and many activities(visual aids, group activities).It feels like high school where you basically know almost everyone well by the end of the semester.She's fun and organized.Recommended!

She gives a lot of little assignments but if you make sure to turn everything in on time and follow her directions, then getting an A is very attainable. For the Midtern and Final, make sure to read your notes. She's a great professor. Very easy class if you care to turn things in on time.

I would recommend her, especially since she grades extremely fair. I took it in summer, and ever single class we either had an assignment due or a speech to give. So, please take her for fall or spring so you don't get burned out. She is a very nice lady and really motivates you in the class. If you are going to take COM3110, take it with her.

If you are not afraid to talk in front of the class this will be your best class ever. You have to attend and be early to every class otherwise she drops your grade. She is very funny and makes the class fun, i took it at 6:40 am and never fell asleep. Wonderful teacher.

Easy class. A waste of my money. Her stupid attendance policy can lower your grade if you're absent too much or late a lot. Besides that, you will get an "A" b/c this class is a joke. Ms. Watson is a sweetheart, though so have fun:)

one of my favorite teachers! does a great job of explaining how and why communication is so important in the business world. i have so many issues with public speaking but she makes you feel so comfortable when it's your time to go up and present. exams are a little tricky, but it's definitely not hard at all to get an A. please take and enjoy!

Definitely take her class. Although you've got assignments due almost every time you go to her class, it's very doable.A group (20mins) and an individual (5mins) presentation are required. I hate doing speeches but she makes it really easy for you. I dont know what she did but now I can make speeches with no worry. Glad and thankful I took her clas

She's an AMAZING teacher one of THE BEST at FIU. She's a sweetheart but she isn't a push-over. The class has a lot of 1 page assingments, but you WILL learn grammar, and how to speak to an audience. I recommend taking her class 110 percent.

This class has a lot of opportunity for passing. If your strength is speaking, you will pass. If your strength is grammar an writing, you will pass. Of course, you need to do well but the class has great information and lots and lots of opportunity to pass. she is great and funny.

Fantastic teacher. She is actually concerned in the student's experience. Once you take this class public speaking will be a breeze. Fun class, a lot of work but she goes easy on the grading. One group project which is really fun and interesting.

There are 3 main speeches. One on group speech persuasion 20 min, individual informatory 5 min, and another individual 1 min speech about yourself. Easy class. There are two grammar quizes and both are easy just do your hw. The midterm and final are extremely easy as well. Just take notes in class and read your book

She is an amazing teacher. Very nice and reasonable BUT BEWARE just because it is an "easy" class does not mean that there is no work. She is very demanding and there are a lot of homeworks, presentations, memos, and resumes. Nonetheless, take her and you will actually learn something!!

Excellent professor. Not only do you learn a lot but she makes class very fun and entertaining. As long as you follow her guidelines on assignments you will do fine. She encourages lots of participation and you will have to give a couple of speeches in front of class. Excellent professor if you have problems speaking in front of a group.

Overall the class is useful, and if nothing else your forced to write your resume. She is a stickler for grammar so you better watch out if you like writing in run on sentences like i do, because she does take of a lot of points for grammar mistakes. 2 grammar quiz and 1 test, 4 memos, PP packet, 2 speeches (1 group 1 solo),and a midterm/final.

The best class and teacher in FIU! This class is super easy...and super necessary to succeed in life. She is amazing, lively, and super entertaining. She definitely knows what shes talking about. A lot of work...but everything is like 5% of your final grade so if you fail one thing, it won't affect your grade at all. TAKE THIS CLASS WITH WATSON!

Easily one of the best teachers at FIU. Within the first week she forces everyone in the class to get to know each other. There are a lot of assignments, but all for small percentages and all extremely easy if you have any background in writing and grammar. She keeps assignments applicable to real-life situations and is always happy to be teaching.

Professor Watson is THE best professor FIU has. Even if COM 3110 isn't needed for your major, you should definitely take it. I had class at 8 am and I actually looked forward it. Borrow the book from a friend or share with another classmate, she rarely uses it. Papers are SUPER easy and so are her tests.

The class gives you what you need for Business Communications. Taking it in the summer, the work load was a bit overwhelming...but do-able. Great skills for the future...and a very nice lady!

We all know that there are terrible, so-so, good, and must-take professors in college. Kathleen Watson is one of "must-take" ones at FIU. I gave an AST presentation in her class at the end of my 3rd college year. Her class was more useful than the other 3 ENC courses I had before it. Professor Watson is an excellent instructor, and her class is a great learning experience. She is very helpful and understanding towards her students. Her class is not difficult but it is tedious. Her instructions are thorough and she follows her syllabus exactly. Should you follow her instructions, passing with a good grade should be no problem.

Worked very hard, got an A, so did the slacker next to me. Professor Watson passed away on Dec. 21st, 2012. She was an amazing educator and a wonderful individual. I had the privilege of taking her course in 2010. She has been one of the best Professor's I've had at FIU. I remember visiting her office and her being extremely helpful as always. She will definitely be missed. May she rest in peace.

I dislike any communications course, simply because I do not like writing or public speaking YET she made this class enjoyable (knowing it was at 8am), she tried that much harder to make it fun. I learned a ton and I ended up with an A in the course! Love this class! Do all her assignments and you will be great.
