The students do a class activity almost everyday, followed by a by-the-book lecture, with case-studies. There's a 20-25 question quiz every week which you get to use a page of notes on; there are weekly opportunities for extra credit. You get -10pts for missing a class. No reason to not get an "A".

She's a morbid, confrontational, emotionally damaging lady. She polarizes the class in hostile debates about touchy psychological issues. She draws constant attention to human mortality and to any trauma we, individual students might have, even in front of class. Not just speaking for myself here.

It seems like Professor Young sets her students up for failure. She does not allow you to use laptops. She is the worst professor I have ever had! I am a 4.0 student so I am not lazy. She is lazy all her presentations are straight from the publisher and she scribbles on the board. She doesn't allow enough time to take notes. AVOID HER CLASS!

There is a test every week and your grades will be almost all based on them. Only 3 other assignments in the whole class and even then she takes forever to grade. Over a month for a project to be graded. She also has a different amount of points written in the quiz and on the grade sheet (like 100 pts for the quiz in the descrip but 108 in book)

Worst teacher EVER!! Her class is required if you want a AODS certificate. She skipped 2 chapters out of the entire 700+ page textbook. One of those chapters was on substance abuse. What a joke!! She is not a fair teacher. She acts like she is a professor at a graduate school. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS IF YOU CAN TAKE ANOTHER!!! I had a 4.0 before.....

She is such a lazy professor this is one of the worst psyc professors I've ever had especially for an online class! She doesn't have live classes nor does she have power points you are basically teaching yourself. You have to read these long chapters and take quizzes. This is not how I learn. She is very nice but I wouldn't recommend this class.

Worst Psychology Professor! I enjoyed psychology before this class and was excited to take this class, but she made the experience very unpleasant. Lazy, does not provide lectures; you have to teach yourself. I lost motivation and was debating whether I should change my majors after this class. Challenging exams and demanding online course. Upset!

This professor is not just very lazy but acts like she is teaching at a graduate school. Is Palomar "COMMUNITY COLLEGE" not UCSD! She does not provide any lectures, so if you are a teacher yourself, you will be fine; other than that, I will recommend picking up self-teaching skills! As a 4.0 student, this is by far the worst class I have taken!

She will not teach you anything. She gives you the most minimal study guide a teacher can give. You will read a huge chapter a week with a weekly 100-200 point exam. If you try to reach out to get in contact she will schedule appointments and not follow through. Expect to work very hard & self teach everything. There is no empathy or motivation.

Caring professor. I have taken two of her classes already. The classes I have taken are asynchronous learning environment. You do kinda teach yourself, but as long as you're organized and on top of things will do good in the class. In the course there is a lot covered, but then again it is psychology, there's much to learn (in a good way).

This was a very difficult class, as you teach yourself. She sends out emails almost daily. TONS of material, readings, films to sift through in addition to textbook. Monthly exams with essay(s) due. Plus monthly SWAP papers. My advice is to take the optional quizzes. This was the most difficult class I have ever taken but it isn't impossible.

I came to college to learn at a college level. As an AODS student, most of those classes are like grade school. Professor Young is brilliant but that can be hard for other students to follow. I did well because I followed the syllabus, opened every page, document, attachment, read every announcement, checked for plagiarism & reach out for help

Professor Youngs class format is very confusing, she continues to talk of things in a Chapter Study Guide that has nothing to do with that chapter, their confusing students. She forces students to take an academic integrity course, what does that have to do with Abnormal Behavior? Her canvas set-up don't even get me started on that, your lost!

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!! The amount of reading you have to do to understand what assignments you have is ridiculous. You have to read chapters weekly with "quizzes" that are 100+ points. There are pages of negative reviews on here for a reason, some dating as far back as 2006. Find another professor and save yourself the headache.
