calculus is not fun but having an organized and clear teacher helps, recommend
She's really hard and unhappy. Doesn't seem to enjoy teaching, but she is easy to understand.
She really cares about her students, she tries to meet all of them, and will let you call her on the phone for help. You can ask questions in class, she is a really great prof.

She's really easy to understand and goes through things slowly. She has a lot of different times available to help students. Recommend.
If you dont understand math very well before you take this class it is extremely hard. She does not like to re-explain something so getting behind is not hard to do. Do not reccomend if you actually want some one to teach you something rather than just doing one problem and going on to the next topic.
Attendance is manditory because if too many people miss, she gives a quiz at the end of class, so don't leave early and don't skip. She goes through everything super fast and doesn't like to explain things twice. I made A's in AP math, but barely got by her class...
At the beginning of the course, I thought I would like her, but as the course progressed I began to dislike her. She is a fairly decent teacher, but she is abrasive. I feel like she has a good handle on the information but doesn't care about the student. I would not recommend this professor unless you have a strong handle on the material already.
She's cool just hard. She hardly ever teaches us anything, we teach ourselves through videos and worksheets. Her tests are easy but she is nit-picky. You can get the answer right but she'll still take off points if you don't right things EXACTLY the way she wants them.
She is a tough teacher, but all it takes to pass the class is attendance, webassign (i know, sucks), and printing off the notes. If you can do that, you should be able to scrape by. If you want better, be prepared to try and survive her massive test review sheets.
She is a GREAT professor. Strict in class, but very laid back in office hours. In order to be successful, go to every class (lots of random quizzes), DO THE SUGGESTED HW, and go to her office hours. If you try your best there's no way you can make lower than a B. Even if you feel confident about the material though be careful, the tests are tough.

She is a very helpful teacher. Lots of notes and other helpful hints on her website. If you go to office hours and do all the extra work she recommends you will probably get an A. I didn't and still got a C so it is a very great idea to follow her advice. SHE KNOWS WHAT SHE'S TALKING ABOUT!!! Keep in mind...Ask Questions. She will answer them.
Billinger is extremely hard. Yeah sure the material is easy but she will go out of her way to trip you up. Print out her notes, study, and go to tutoring if you want to do well in this class. It is very difficult.
Hardest class I have taken at a&m. Math is usually my best subject, but this class it is impossible to make an A. If you make a B or a C on her tests then thats like way above average. Homework and quizzes super easy. The tests are hard. DON'T take her!!!
I do not reccomend this proffessor. She is an excellent teacher and her notes are the bomb. But you will be treated like your still in high school. Her personality grows very old whenever she lectures about a kid leaving class to pee or GOD FORBID a phone vibrate. Great at teaching but you have to rush through it like your taking the SAT.
She treated us like we were freshmen in high school instead of college. The notes were great and the homework was easy, but the tests were crazy hard!! There were random pop quizzes and in class assignments. She went through the material fast. I would not reccomend taking her. Also, if your phone goes off in her class, she'll chop your head off.
She is a very good teacher, notes are good, but tests aren't easy at all. The final is impossible and made me get a B in the class and I'm normally good at math. She also treats the class like 5 year olds which is tremendously annoying.
I absolutely LOVE Kathryn!! As long as you go to class and do your homework you should be fine. I went and spoke to her even before the first day of class and she loves me, so i believe it is helpful. TAKE HER!!
Her notes are great, explains everything thoroughly, definitely the best teacher you can take for this course. She absolutely loves her students, and will do anything she can to help. Always go to class, it'll save you. GO TO OFFICE HOURS. Be sure and do HER reviews before tests and you will be fine. Amazing teacher.
Sit front row and she will love you. Loves conversating before class and it benefits you later on tests because she drops hints. Office hours are also important because she will literally give away what is going to be on the test. Tests are difficult, but the homework/quiz grades will boost your grade by a whole letter.
Extremely hard class. Make sure you attend, do homework, quizzes, and optional practice problems. Not the best teacher if you don't have previous knowledge on calculus concepts.
She was very kind, and made a point to know her students. She supplies a lot of review materials, and ways to prepare for her tests. Her notes are also very helpful and the tests follow them, along with the homework. She gives you everything to be successful in her class, if you put forth the effort.
I took calculus in high school and found it very difficult. In this class, everything made so much more sense. She has print out notes which makes learning much easier. Attending the help sessions really improved my grade. Do the homework and come for all the quizzes if you want a high B or A. She's very strict about cell phones.
Very strict professor. Disrespectful & condescending to students. Class is very hard, expect to practice hours a day for a C. She rushes through lectures and teaches poorly, you'll have to teach yourself. Learned more in 5 minutes from a friend then I did in 3 hours from her "lectures", which are just her scribbling notes and not teaching anything
Very rude to students. Very strict, gives TONS of quizzes (a lot of the time right after you have learned the material so you are guaranteed to do horrible on them) SPEEDS through material. DONT TAKE HER CLASS unless you love homework and quizzes. Assigns extra homework besides just webassign. Grades tests VERY harshly. Her class consumes your life
Tough but manageable. Anyone saying she's awful simply hasn't put in any effort. She has a lot of grades and is strict, but there are no surprises on the test as long as you go to class and there are plenty of notes and examples so there's no excuse for failing other than just not trying. I suck at math did alright because she actually teaches well
Hardest math class ever! She isn't very helpful and was usually in a bad mood every single class day. She is also extremely picky about phones. Even if you walk in with the phone in your hand she will get mad.
Kathryn is very sarcastic, and at first slightly intimidating, but don't let that fool you. She is an awesome teacher, is very thorough at explaining everything, and has SO MANY resources you can use to do well in the course. She sometimes gives in class assignments/quizzes, but if you were awake in class that day you can get a 100.
Kathryn is great. She's very thorough with explaining things; if you don't understand something, just ask. She gives so many extra grades from homework/in-class assignments/quizzes, that your test don't have as much weight as you'd expect. Go to class and take notes, and do as much practice as you need. She's very helpful.
Kathryn is a strict teacher, but you are guaranteed to learn in her class. You must attend class. She pads your grade with quiz grades, homework, and in class assignments. Exams are long but manageable. I'd recommend her if you are willing to put effort into the class.
This class was probably the hardest math class and hardest class I have ever taken. Professor Bollinger is very strict and wasn't very helpful to me. The coursework was just way too much especially for someone who is an education major. I would spend literally hours working on homework and neglecting my other classes because it was too much work.
Kathryn is the best prof I've ever had. She can be intimidating at first, but don't let that scare you off She knows the material like the back of her hand is very good at explaining. She is great in office hours, but show up with some work done first I would take this class with her every semester if I could.
Kathryn is tough but she wants you to learn. Definitely not an easy A, attendance is mandatory and do not even think about using phones (biggest pet peeve). Lots of homework and quizzes. Tough class and lots of work but I learned. Don't bother going to WIR. She writes her material and is completely different than other profs! No textbook.
Very strict on the NO phone policy - seriously turn it off or you will lose points on EVERYONE'S exam. Very nice lady when you follow directions and read the instructions. Be prepared for pop quizzes, sometimes with partners. She is a great instructor who cares about her job and everyone understanding the material. Very clear in lectures too!
lectures make the homework easier to understand. I definitely recommend attending class. She is very level headed and will help you if you ask for it, and put the effort in.
Definitely a math class, but she prepares you for the tests. If you're having any trouble she will help you as much as you need at office hours. Doesn't try to trick you, but asks some questions that might use applied knowledge, but everything is solvable.
FOLLOW the syllabus, DO the homework, & go to class. If you are at the University level, you should do the work you have been assigned, & in this class if you don't do the work, you won't get the credit. I loved her as a teacher. She is more than willing to help, and there are so many different opportunities to get help if you are having trouble.
although at first Professor Bollinger seemed like the hardest teacher ever after starting another math class with a different professor, I wish I had her back. She covers everything on the test and if she didn't teach it she wont expect you to know it. It is a hard class but if you work for it just a little its any easy B
She has a very monotone voice which makes the class boring and hard to get interested in the topic.

This was definitely a hard class. I had just taken Statistics in high school so I had a lot of background knowledge, and I don't think I would have been very successful if I didn't have that. She thoroughly explains topics and has very organized lectures, but she's really weird about phones. If you put in a TON of work, you will be successful.
She was a great teacher. the concepts were clear and you always know what is expected of you. she gives lots of in class work so you have to go. the homework is due every week but it is pretty easy if you follow along in class. she hates cell phones and is mean to the class as a whole but she is super helpful one on one.
Kathryn was a great professor. Business math 1 is unlike any other math because it doesn't cover what you would have taken in your high school pre-cal or calculus class. However she presents the notes and subjects in a very well manner and explains everything you need to know for the test. I never used the book or practiced problems, just notes
You have to go to class. She takes a grade pretty much every day and if you miss multiple assignments, your grade will drop significantly. Her tests can be tricky, but doable if you practice enough. You have to work to get a good grade in this class. Also, she comes across as harsh and hates cell phones, but she's good at what she does.
Kathryn was my favorite professor this semester. She can be really strict, but if you get on her good side, she'll always help you and joke around with you before class! There's homework due almost every week and she give in class assignments pretty regularly so GO TO CLASS! Plus, you don't want to miss her notes. I would definitely take again. :)
Not an easy A, in fact I barely passed. She gives difficult tests, weekly homeworks and quizzes, and also made me feel uncomfortable with her threats to other students. Her last words while walking out of the final were, "I should give you all zero's." Due to a phone jingling. If someone cared they'd advise you NOT to take her as a professor.
At first, she's terrifying but then you get to really like her.
Kathryn is very clear and helpful professor. That is not to say that she is not strict in class. She has rules that she expects you to follow and will call you out if you do not. But, these rules are in place to ensure that those that go to class pay attention and have a distraction free class. If you need help all you need to do is ask for it.
Tried to ask for help in her office hours and she was a bit rude. She can definitely come off as apathetic. Stay positive and pay attention in class. You can't really skip class because she gives pop quizzes. No phones ever. The homework help and week in review sessions with the other professor that teaches 167 really helped!
I miss having Bollinger, only because of the clarity of her notes. Her personality on the other hand I don't miss one bit. She's rude, harsh environment to learn in. Prepare to walk into Germany in 1941, because she practices a diplomatic regime of teaching. Her way or the highway (take the highway). Notes are great, tests are not. No phones.

Kathryn was very good at making the material understandable. She puts the notes up on her website for you to print off and then you go over them in class. You can expect a quiz or in class assignment at least once a week, but as long as you pay attention you should be fine. This was my first A in math since my soph. yr of HS. Would recommend!
I'm a liberal arts major so math is NOT my thing. I thought she was a little intimidating at first but she talked to all of us in the front rows before class and is really awesome. She was really helpful in office hours, tests were average and I made a B on all of them, go to class and you'll have no problem passing
Bollinger is a really great teacher. She knows what she wants and expects her students to really try and understand the math. She seems pretty cruel during class because she will not tolerate cellphone usage. When I went to her office hours though she was very nice and approachable. If you aren't good at math, use every extra help you can find!
Kathryn was the worst professor I have ever had, knew or even heard of and especially from A&M. She is the definition of disrespectful and has more attitude than your average teenage girl. She seemed power hungry and threatened us when any phone went off or was seen in or out of class. She wasted time over it. Impatient and very rude. NEVER again.
Professor Bollinger was great! DO NOT HAVE YOUR CELL PHONE OUT OR ON! She is very strict about cell phones, but honestly, it made it easier to focus. Do the work and study, you will do fine. It is easy to forget the material so practice problems are a must. She is there to help if you need it so take advantage! Would take her again!
Ms. Bollinger can be a bit abrasive at times, yes, but her notes are crystal clear and she does her job well as a professor. She expects you to come to class and pay attention while you're there, which is fair, and if you use the notes she provides and stay on top of the weekly homework assignments, you should have no problems.
She may come off as rude but she is just firm. Do not break the rules in her class and you will be fine. I HATE math and i loved this class, she is super nice, sit in the front even if you are shy (like me) because she will notice it and will help you. She is there to make you have a better grade.
Kathryn can be a little scary because she's strict on phones and coming in late, but she explains everything very clearly and her notes are easy to understand and follow along with in class. She doesn't post completed notes online so go to class or make a friend who can help you out!
Excellent professor! A bit of a stickler on phones but shouldn't be on a phone in class anyway. She was pretty cool and could be funny, would definitely take her again. Can't miss class or you'll be lost but as long as you do the homework and pay attention it isn't hard, make sure to show all work on tests.
Bollinger is probably one of my favorite professors that I have had so far. She really makes sure her students understand the material and is always willing to help. MUST show work on tests to get full credit. Overall, it was a great class.
She is very intimidating, but very friendly when interacting one-on-one. I am HORRIBLE at math, and this class was actually fun and not extremely hard for me. There is a lot of work, but it is worth it when test time rolls around. I recommend this class and professor for all students that are not math minded.
She's pretty harsh. Sit in the front. Don't even bring your phone to class because she will sense it and send you out. She grades a lot which is nice. Gives partial credit on tests if you show your work. Easiest math I've ever taken. If you have the opportunity and you suck at math, just take it and be happy with your A.
Super hard if you're not a math person. I'm an english major and was advised to take this class, It's better than stat but still dreadful. She's a tough grader and has big classes so it's hard to get one on one help. STUDY STUDY STUDY every night if you want to pass. Not an easy A.
The prof is extremely knowledgeable and is a good teacher. She offers office hours and actually helps if you can come. She can be a bit rude, and she's a phone nazi. I would recommend if you're not very good at math for sure, this isn't a regular math class. She drops lowest quiz grades and grades fairly.
It's a 100 level class, so as a senior it shouldn't be that hard or difficult to pass- WRONG. The class that I am in currently is full of graduating seniors, so this is one of the last credits on main campus that we all need and we are all BEGGING for a D.
I absolutely loved Professor Bollinger! She was the best math teacher I have ever had. She explains the material so well and everything is clear cut with her. A lot of people don't like her because she comes off a little harsh but she just wants everyone to learn in class and get things done. DO NOT BE ON PHONE! Would definitely take her again!!
Great professor. Covers nearly everything you need to know for exams in lectures. Has fill in the blank note sheets that you fill out in class. Study hard and do the practice in the book and exams will be easy. Homework can take time.
She is an amazing teacher, and her lectures are very informative. She literally posts lecture notes online, and in class you fill in the blanks and do work problems. Her tests are basically just like the "in class review" that she will give you the class before the exam. Overall, an easy A as long as you show up!! AND SHOW UP BECAUSE POP QUIZZES!!!
She was a great professor! She comes off a little rude at times, but overall I had a really good experience. All of her notes were easy to follow along with and there were plenty of extra help opportunities on the side. Show up to class! She explains a lot of material verbally. Don't buy the book. I touched it twice throughout the semester.
Professor Bollinger is one of those few teachers that honestly cares about her students. However, she takes daily grades for quizzes and assignments, so if you skip class there is no way you will get an A. She is extremely accessible outside of class, and there were a total of 4 tests.

Bollinger isn't very nice. But that doesn't make or break a professor. She has so many pop quizzes, that sometimes are bombed. Weekly homework and in class assignments. Tests are show your work, which is good and bad. I should make A-B's on my tests but I make C's bc she takes off so much. She doesn't post grades, you have to calculate it.
Professor Bollinger sees herself as a no nonsense, effective educator, but her heavy handed attempts to maintain decorum work mostly to create a climate of anxiety; though I hardly heard a single phone ring in class all semester. The only other problem is that her fanaticism for showing work will lose you points on questions that you get right.
Kathryn is a solid choice for a math prof. She comes off rude but is actually very nice and wants you to succeed. That said, you have to work for your grade and know your stuff. There's weekly homework and in class quizzes. There are a total of 4 exams which are all workout except for the final. All are just like her fill out notes so study those!

I would not recommend taking Professor Bollinger. The teaching environment she fosters is negative and I disliked going to class every day to be yelled at over someone else's communication device. The homeworks are long, the information is tough if you never been introduced, but class is mandatory. Spend time everyday on this class.
Bring your notes to class everyday; I forgot mine one day and it was impossible to keep up. Turn off your phone before class and do not pull it out--she hears and sees EVERYTHING. She is very straightforward and no nonsense; I didn't mind because she was thorough with notes and the example problems were almost exactly like the problems on the test.
Attend class and take notes and you will be fine. She is always willing to help students, you just have to put in the time. Do not use your phone in class, respect her time and she will respect yours.
The notes are fill in the blank and have good examples you work in class. She is accessible to all of her students and cares about you learning the material. I would recommend Ms. Kathryn for all students that are not good at math.
This is the worst professor I have ever had. Shes is the meanest person I have ever met in my entire life. Unless you are already good at math do not take her. Shes the toughest grader ever and just rencently took points off my test Bc she didnt like the way I wrote my A for a question. She is condescending and extremely rude.
I have never met someone so degrading in my whole entire life. She is not a good teacher and her teaching environment is negative. Even if you know what youre doing she finds ways to take off points. Shes a c you next Tuesday

Start paying attention from the start, if you don't your grades will slip. She is very good with office hours and helping you, but she is not a nice grader. She took off 3 points for not putting a $ symbol in my answer once. If you do your work, and work on math at least 2 hours every night, you will be successful in her class. If not, good-luck.

For example, I got all the answers right in a section of the test but got counted off points because she didn't like way I showed my work. TOUUUUGHHHH GRADER. If you are not great at math do not take her. Usually i would average Bs and Cs on math test but now I'm lucky to get a D just because of how much she takes off for little mistakes. It is ruining my semester and my GPA. Even my aerospace roommate got a 75 on a hw even though all the answers were right...
Shes the hardest Math 140 professor. Shes the only one that give pop quizzes, take home quizzes, and extra homework (other teachers only have webassign) and shes the only one that gives short answer tests that are super hard versus every other prof giving multiple choice.
If you want to be treated like you're back in middle school, take her. She is not shy about calling you out on why youre getting up to go to the bathroom. She knows the material and teaches well but she creates an environment of fear and makes students afraid to talk to her or ask her a question.
Everyone complains about her but she really was a good teacher. The notes are very thorough and they are all you need to make an A in her class. Just don't skip, listen during class, and copy exactly what she writes on your notes. There are pop quizzes but if you go they really shouldn't be an issue. I'm not a math person but I recommend her.
Please, I am begging you not to take this professor. I do not understand her grading. She grades everyone as if we are aerospace students. She takes off points for anything and everything even if you have the right answer. She will ruin your gpa and semester
So good at explaining concepts. Math was never my strong-suit, just clicked when she taught it though. ASK HER QUESTIONS WHEN CONFUSED. Really wants students to succeed, but pretty tough grader (but does partial credit, unlike most others). She provides notes, USE THEM (probably the most helpful aid in studying). Strict with phones.
Do NOT take Bollinger. While she actually gives decent notes, she creates an extremely negative learning environment that will make you dread coming to class, gives extra homework, assignments, and pop quizzes the other teachers don't give, and she is an extremely picky grader. She will literally count off for everything. Tests are all open ended.

Her tests are all open-ended. Will give partial credit, but most of the time it will hurt your grade. Even if you have the correct answer and showed work, she will still count off if you do not do the work like the way she showed you in class. Going to class is a must!!! She gives about 13 pop quizzes throughout the semester, but only takes top 10
Kathryn is strict but funny and isn't against smiling and making the class laugh. She expects you to act like a college student. Her requirements are very attainable and she is very open to questions and reachable outside of class. 10/10 would recommend and I wish she taught some of the other maths I have to take.
She is a blunt professor. Will call you out for sleeping in class. Whatever you do, don't get your phone out in class or she will call you out. If you follow her strict rules you will be fine. The actual class is easy if you do your homework and do practice problems before the tests, she just isn't the nicest professor in the world.
Dr Bollinger sets clear expectations & prepares her students well for tests (tests are NOT multiple choice). She is a hard ass though & doesnt tolerate talking during lectures or cell phones (especially cell phones!!). She learns all of her students names & will notice if you are absent. She is a good teacher & makes the material seem manageable.
Negative reviews? I really enjoyed her class! She teaches very clearly, and if you dont understand something she'll gladly help (in class or office hours). She doesnt want phones out, but thats understandable! Her tests are all open ended, but that helps you learn the material. She grades fairly, that's for sure. Just do the work y'all. She's great

Her notes are great and definitely help prepare you for the tests. She is NOT mean, if y'all really complaining about not being able to use your phone during class then wyd?? It's understandable. She gives partial credit but that's only in your favor. If you got an answer wrong but she sees you had the idea in your work, she gives you some credit.

Teaches material VERY fast.
Take it from someone who is BAD at math, Ms. Bollinger does an excellent job at explaining all of the material. If you attend class, pay attention, do the homework, & spend a little extra time on the weekends working on some practice problems, you will do fine. Stay up to date on webassign and ask questions! She is super nice if you are respectful!
Kathryn is a good professor in all but her grading is extremely tough, she will take off on very little things and that can completely mess with your grade. Even if you understand the material, you will not feel so confident after getting your exam score back. I wouldn't take her if you aren't too good at math.
In order to get anything higher than a D or C you're gonna have to get tutored, go to her office hours, and spend hours trying to teach yourself. Oh and if you didn't take precalc in high school you're gonna get wrecked, bc she just assumes you already know half of what she's teaching . Just do yourself a favor and sign up for a different prof
The only people who take her class are the people who have no other choice. This class will turn a good semester into a nightmare. If you are taking other classes that require much attention and time, forget about trying to pass hers because everything she assigns takes hours because she literally teaches material BACKWARDS!!! DO NOT TAKE HER
Honestly, I should've just taken this class at blinn. She's a typical college professor that will fail you and keep you from graduating and not lose a wink of sleep about it. Like all math classes here at A&M its tough and requires a good amount of work, so if you can help it take it at blinn or with her if all your other classes are blow offs.
Coming from someone who's taken multiple math classes here, she really isn't that bad. Would I recommend her? No, but if she is your only option don't feel like you don't have a chance. You're gonna have to do a lot of outside work to pass but the material isn't impossible, even if you fail 3 quizzes in a row, if you go to see her shell help.
AWEFUL. Tough grader & goes through the material fast. Her tests are all free response and she is extremely picky. If math isn't your strength, do NOT take her. I would recommend taking it with a different prof or at a community college. I spent countless hours studying & in tutoring.
She is not a bad professor but she will make you work for your grade so if you miss a class you better go to office hours. Would I recommend her, only if you are a good math student but if she is your last choice she wont hurt you.
Shes a good person, shell bump ur grade at the end if u need it but she can be ruthless on the tests and quizzes and will refuse to provide any curve ever she does her best to help those struggling by only counting the best however many quiz and hw grades but dont think bc of that u can just blow them off bc thats whats gonna save u at the end
Good at teaching, but no matter how much you study you cannot control how tough of a grader she is. One time I put a lower case letter rather than uppercase in a formula and she took off two points on my test. Shes a bit intimidating and will get angry if you excuse yourself from class from coughing (trust me it happened in mine). Study a lot
In class assignments and quizzes account for a large part of your grade--don't go to class, you will not pass. Very abrupt person. Very tough grader. She knows her math, but if you do not have a math mentality it will be a nightmare for you. I would not recommend to take this prof if you struggle at all with math or have a heavy course load.
While Kathryn's class was extremely difficult (especially for someone who doesn't do well in math) it was doable. She is willing to help you if you make the effort. Don't wait until the last minute to do anything and go to the SI sessions if you are struggling. I wasn't able to meet during her office hours so she met with me at a different time.
Kathryn is a really good professor and knows a lot about what she is teaching. The tests are mostly short answer and are pretty difficult, but if you follow along with the notes, do the WebAssign, and the Week-in-Review then you will do fine. She is a hard grader and you MUST go to class, but she does what she can to help her student succeed.
She has a sarcastic sort of humor that makes class interesting. If you want a slack off class, this is not it. She really cares that you learn and you can tell. She does not allow any electronics in her classroom and she gives pop quizzes, but that is about all the bad I can say about her. And honestly those are not bad things, so take her!!
If you want an easy math class, this is it. Go to class, pay attention and do the Web assign homework and you will pass. This prof is very good at explaining subjects and if you are struggling to understand something, she is always available in her office hours. This is a great class and I def recommend her!
Good teacher. Takes class SO seriously, so it's definitely not a blowoff course. This course requires a serious amount of effort - homework/reading (even for math, I know), pop quizzes, ICAs (in-class assignments), etc. Very specific grader; every bit of work is to be shown (EXACTLY LIKE DONE IN CLASS) or you'll fail.
Follow directions, do your hw and you will do just fine. She is an amazing lecturer and makes the information super easy to understand but she demands your respect. NO PHONES IN HER CLASS. Don't even try... She's sarcastic and gives lots of grades to help you out. I really enjoyed her class but if you aren't willing to respect her, don't take her.

She is very specific about how your work must be shown, isn't forgiving when grading. Do at home problems b/c she might get frustrated and give pop quiz. She is good at teaching.
Gives lots of opportunities to improve grade. 4 tests, no final. 10 pop quizzes+10 in class assignments, hw assignments on each chapter section. Gives extremely clear notes. Grades tough wants you to do the problems EXACTLY how she does them. Has weird phone policy/bad attitude at times. Wasnt terribly hard to get an A, had to study but not much.
She makes a relatively easy class much harder than it needs to be. Everything must be done exactly as she wants or it will be counted (at least partly) wrong (even if the final answer is correct). She has lots of tedious rules and is very strict. If you pay attention she does explain the material, just not worth the hassle, imo take someone else.
Kathryn is really strict, but she genuinely wants you to learn math and she is very passionate. I am not good at math at all, but her teaching style is effective and her office hours really do help. Exams are difficult because they are free response, but her notes are good study material. She also has take home quizzes to help your grade.

From what I've heard most of the other Math 140 profs do multiple choice... "IF I EVEN SEE A PHONE IN THIS ROOM" prof and actively looks to embarrass students during class. Shes extremely weird about phones. She gives you homework every night and it takes hours but its only worth 20% of your grade. Her tests are the only one in the department that are not multiple choice . She takes off points for not showing every single step or doing it just how she taught you.

Ms Bollinger is a fantastic teacher. That said, however, her class isnt easy, and she isnt exactly a fun, easygoing professor. She makes you put your phone up for the entire lecture (if she sees you on your phone she will call you out by name because she memorizes everyones name). If youre having trouble I highly recommend office hours and WIR.

Kathryn Bollinger is a great math professor! She does have high expectations (i.e. go to class, put your phone away, use her method to solve) but it's to help you learn. I didn't like her at first, but she really does care and if you pay attention and try then she rewards you for it. She gives partial credit as long as you attempt the problem!
This prof makes a class that should be easy very difficult. On the tests even if you get the right answer if you don't write out every single tiny step you used to get there (even simple addition) you will get points off. Not only that she also is very rude and enjoys calling out students in class for no reason. If you can take anyone else pls do.

She is huge on quizzes, offers weekly reviews, and does built in exam preps. Stay up on your work and the class is fairly easy. She cares about her students and wants you to learn.
Not a bad prof in the sense that if you work for it you can get an A. She is not the most amazing teacher and if math isn't easy for you, you might have to teach it yourself. However, she gives you chances for extra credit at the beginning of the year. You take a quiz at least once a week but she drops 3-4. Homework raises your grade.

Professor Bollinger is one of the worst professors Ive had at this university. She treats her students like theyre incompetent and too childish to be respected and treated like adults. She is not understanding at all because I had to miss her class for a legitimate reason and she told me I couldnt make up the quiz.
Takes a lot of points off tests and quizzes for things not being "her way" even if your answer is correct. Drawls throughout lecture which makes it hard to stay engaged. Not a bad person but not the best teacher, would recommend taking someone else.
This woman should not be a teacher. Has no consideration for any of her students and needs things to constantly be her way, even if she's wrong. We're in the middle of a global pandemic and we still have an insane amount of work and lecture to get through. Some of us are in bad situations.. not everything is about your class. Take someone else.

Kathryn is a really good professor. I ended with an A in the class & didnt really study for the tests. Do the homework, go to office hours if you need help. She really cares & is helpful. Very friendly & easy to talk to; not scary. There is no curve, but the tests are very fair & straight forward. Make sure to show work on everything
Purposefully goes out of her way to try to embarrass you in class. Treats you like a child. My mother is a frontline worker during COVID-19 so I have really bad anxiety every day when she goes to work & cant focus. All of my profs curved/assigned less work except her. When the class moved online, it was much harder to learn. Yet, no curve at all.
We had to take our last two tests for the class STREAMING ourselves doing it on video because she is so paranoid about people cheating. It was absolutely ridiculous. She takes an easy subject and makes it hard, then will make you feel stupid for it when you ask questions. Her reviews for the test are useless. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSES.

I do not recommend taking this professor. Bollinger loves to grade extremely hard for no reason and has zero sympathies for even the smallest mistakes. She also treats her students like they are children. I've never had too much difficulty with math, but Bollinger makes her grading so difficult that I ended up struggling in this class.

Prof. Bollinger is not a soft lady. She is pretty stern and often gave attitude to the kids on zoom when they couldn't hear. I thought her lectures were okay, just pay attention and do the homework checks. Math 140 is not too hard of a math class, but if you're not naturally good at math, it requires a good amount of time. As a student who struggles with Math, Professor Bollinger was one of the worst professors I've ever had. She gives random in class assignments and quizes for grade over material we learned the day off. Shows no sympathy for students that put a 100% of their effort to succeed. Do yourself a favor and dont ever take her.

Kathryn Bollinger is one of a kind. I hope incoming freshman see this and think long and hard about taking her class. Sarcastic, call you out about questions, grades unusually hard on her assignments. Loves to make herself feel powerful by giving low grades. She refuses to acknowledge any way to do math other than the way she does it.
Professor Bollinger is definitely not a warm-fuzzy, but you can tell she still cares about her students. Easy to fall behind if you skip class or dont keep up with the units, but is mostly just a fast paced review of pre-calculus.
*I had her forMATH140. Personally, I've never been strong at math, going to ALL lectures is a must. If you are someone with a sarcastic sense of humor, I highly recommend taking Kathryn. If you go to office hours and really put the work in, she's a really cool prof. If you want to do well you have to put the work in, but she offers plenty of help.

A lot of people don't like her because she is strict and can come across as harsh, but she is really passionate about math and her class(she wrote the textbook--its free). Her tests are manageable, pop quizes, and an easy quiz before the exams. Don't let her scare you, she really cares about her students!
Prof. Bollinger is strict, and it shows in her exam grading style, but she tells you exactly what you lose points for during lectures. You definitely need to pay attention during lectures, but if you took an upper-level math course in high school (i.e. Calculus) this class will not be stressful for you.

Very unapproachable. Content easy, teaching is mediocre, grading is insanely tough. I've learned all content in the course before and got high As on all my exams but ended with an 89(only professor I've ever had that dosen't bump btw). Once i entered the classroom 1 minute before class starts and got counted absent bc she started attendance early.

No electronics allowed in class, except for a tablet that can lie flat on desk, I personally didn't care about having to put my technology away during lecture. First of all she wont let you take notes on a computer and makes you use paper. She also throws a fit any time she hears a phone go off. Shes rude and unapproachable. I was struggling in the class and tried asking questions but she would just give me rude sarcastic answers. She goes pretty fast and its hard to keep up if math isnt your gift.

This professor treats her students like its middle school with the added demeanor and meanness of someone who hates her job and wishes to punish her students for that. Grades on an extreme petty way discounting grades of your test for minor mistakes or omissions.

Math 140 is a rather easy class subject matter wise, however, Bollinger makes it more difficult than it needs to be. She is not the nicest teacher either and can be rude. I would not recommend taking this professor if you want a positive learning environment.

If I could give someone one piece of advice it would be to not take Kathryn Bollinger for MATH 140. I am doing so much better at MATH 142 than 140 if that tells you anything about this professor. Kathryn is a good instructor. She is invested in students' success, learns everyone's name and will help if you take initiative. If you know that you struggle with math, do the practice problems/exams and go to office hours from the beginning. If you do not enjoy strict settings, Kathryn is not the instructor for you. A good grade is possible.

Please ignore these bad reviews on here about professor bollinger. she is strict but if you pay attention and do what she says, you will get an A. There are assigned seats, which is so she can learn your name and pass out quizzes easy. Exams match the week in reviews almost perfectly. I do like 2hrs/week for this class and have a 95.
Kathryn really lacks compassion and understanding, making her class even more awful considering the material. The material was not super difficult, her teaching style and grading on exams just really makes you feel as though you don't know everything. I would never take her again steer clear from this prof! Math 140 is not a challenging course as long as you have a good Algebra 2/pre calculus background. Professor Bollinger's grading is the main issue; she will dock points if there is a lack of work or you did not work the problem the way she wanted it. If you are able to pay attention to detail and don't mind free response problems, take Bollinger.
There are quizzes for every class, grades harshly, and just way too many assignments. Quiz average brought my grade down from an A, which is extremely annoying. Class is not difficult, but the professor is. She wants us to actively study her class every day and always talks about how she wants us to "learn," but really just makes the class a pain.

Don't dare to pull out your phone, she doesn't allow phones or computers in the class. I suggest going to class always because of I Clicker questions, and pop quizzes. She will let you use a partner on some of the quizes which was nice. She strict, but she knows what she's talking about when it comes to math.
WAY too much work than necessary for this class. She likes to give out quizzes, make unnecessary assignments, and grades in a finnicky manner on exams. She probably could care less about the fact that we take other classes other than hers. She drops a few grades at the end of the semester, but that's about it. No curve or grade cutoff adjustments.
I would not suggest Bollinger at all! This should be a relatively easy course but all exams are workout questions despite other teachers exams being mainly multiple choice. If the questions are not worked out exactly like they are in class the questions is counted wrong despite getting the correct answer. Assigned seating. No phones.
Wish I would have taken someone else. Other professors let students work on things in class and don't have as many assignments to do. I've seen her be rude in class to students. She's unnecessarily strict and there's a great amount of homework, I had to go to tutoring every week with the TA. Had an A all semester,until the final :( so frustrating.
She is very rude. She also never allows you on your phone once you stepped in class, even if it hasn't started yet. She takes off points on your test for unnecessary reasons, most of my test grades should have been higher but she takes off for literally everything!!! When asking questions, she makes you feel like you're stupid. Would not recommend.
She is straight up a very mean woman. She does not care about you and she doesn't want you to succeed. She will take off points for anything. She took off points b/c I wrote a fraction sideways instead of up and down. She took 20 points off of my friend's quiz b/c he forgot to staple it. First C I've ever gotten in my academic career.
This is the worst professor here I beg you not to take math with her. She is unreasonably rude and makes an easy subject hard. I took this same math but for engineering the year prior. This class was pretty much a copy and paste of the year prior but I had to relearn everything because she only gives you credit if you work the problems her way.
AWFUL grader. Takes off points if your work isnt exactly like hers, even if your answer is correct. Shes super stingy and will dock you for the most ridiculous things. Shes also rude to her students and lectures way too fast.
She gives pop quizzes going into breaks, knowing most students will be gone. She is a very hard grader. She does not answer kindly to most questions. No multiple choice on tests. But, she does have days where she is nice!
Prof. Bollinger's class was very difficult. I am good at math and really struggled. You were not allowed to talk or use phones at all during her class and she was very harsh about it. Many pop quizzes and the homework and tests were hard. I went to office hours constantly and still got a C.
I won't deny that Bollinger is a good teacher, but her attitude and grading have been the difficult part. She's SUCH a tough grader and hardly leaves any feedback. The way she answers questions is condescending and makes you feel dumb. All of that being said, I would recommend her for MATH 365 bc you learn the content. Your grade will just suck.
This teacher made math 140 way harder than it needed to be. She graded extremely hard and took off for minuscule things. Not only that, her demeanor in class was always rude to the students wellbeing. I had to try hard to get the grade I got. Once I tutored someone(with another 140 teacher), and he ended up getting a better grade than I did!
Unnecessarily hard. The concepts were overall easy but she would be very harsh when grading taking off 0.5 points for missing little things despite having the right answer. Not very nice and despite being on the edge of an A she never rounded up. She would do basic things and expect students to be grateful or appreciative. Do not recommend.
She is an ok teacher but makes this course way harder than it should be. Grades hard and lots of quizzes. No graded homework but she expects you to read the textbook every day. Very inconsiderate of her students, acts like her class is the only one we have.Gave us a popquiz right before holiday break because she knew a lot of us would not make it.
Do not take her class. Her tests are harder than all of the other professors. Hers are all FRQ while the other professors are mainly MC. She is a tough grader, taking points off unnecessarily. On top of her class being harder than the other professors, she is a very rude person. She makes people feel bad for asking questions. Avoid her class.

class was pretty easy, i haven't taken a math class in a few years but she makes it easy to learn as long as you pay attention. Tests were kind of hard and occasional pop quizzes but she was always available to help if you asked.
Make sure to go to class b/c there's a grade taken like every class period! Sometimes she would act like students are a little stupid, or she'd just have a bad vibe, BUT she honestly is a good teacher. She explains concepts extremely well and gives so many resources for help. I would take her for 142 if I could. She can be funny at times as well.
Kathryn was a good professor but very intense. The work load was manageable but she is a super tough grader. She will give partial credit if you show your work. Beware that there are assigned seats and no phones in her class. Also be prepared for lots of quizzes, some pop and some planned.
Sent out an extremely short notice email before school started, telling students to bring a printed copy of the syllabus as well as written notes that need to be filled out from videos BEFORE the first class has occurred, which WILL be taken for a GRADE on the first day. There is no reason to obliterate everyone's grades before day one, period.
Take literally anyone else. Very easy material but she makes it harder than it needs to be, she'll talk to you like you're 5, & threaten to give you a 0 at least once every class. She takes off points for correct work and correct answers claiming she "wouldn't have structured the work that way" or "it was too hard to grade/read". You cant get a 100

She has by far the worst attitude out of any professor I've ever met and makes the classroom dynamic very much "students vs teachers" rather than an environment where the teachers are on your side. She is an extremely nit-picky grader. BEWARE.
She's really good at teaching but prepare to lose points for not stapling the hw or solving it her way it. The class isn't a difficult one if you practice, but she is very condescending, rigid, and elects to not offer much grace. If you're a student with disabilities be VERY clear about your accommodations--she minimizes them if they "don't apply".
Truly the worst professor I have ever had. Take any other class but hers. Seriously. So cruel, it feels like she genuinely wants me to fail. She threatens to give zeros daily, and absolutely no grace given for anything remotely not her way. Going to this class is the worst 140 min out of my week and the stress for tests is 10 times that dread.
Honestly, she's really scary and a really tough grader. However, she teaches well, you just have to show up and practice A LOT. There is a solid amount of homework, but it is helpful in practicing. The only reason I would not take this class again is because sometimes I feel like she is treating us like 2nd graders the way she talks to us.
She is terrible. She singles out students with ADA protected disabilities and makes them write papers on why they should pay better attention if she catches them not paying attention.

Avoid this professor if possible. She is a decent teacher but teaches the easy things in class and makes the homework and tests 100x harder. Even if you get every question right on the exams she will give you a 60 because you didn't do it the way she wanted you to. She tears students down to make her feel better about herself and boosts her ego.

I see many bad reviews here but, Professor Bollinger cares deeply about her class. She tries her best to set everyone up for success, she checks that everyone participates & learns everyday. If you go to class, take notes, participate, & do practice exams, you have no excuse why you won't succeed. She emphasizes office hours too which help a lot!
She is a VERY tough grader. I lost a lot of points on quizzes and tests for the smallest things. Test are all work out and no multiple choice, making you a lot more likely to do badly. She is a decently nice person who cares about her work but if you are not naturally a math person, chances are you will not do great.
She's very intimidating and strict, and does not create the most comfortable learning environment. However, her curriculum is very well organized and her teaching is very effective. She also provides lots of resources for learning. I managed to pass with a B despite my poor class attendance and exam grades. Great math prof!
Show up, ACTUALLY pay attention, and do the work. Go to office hours for ANY question, the BMTAs and prof will explain and HELP you, seriously. She's a bit strict and tougher than most other math profs, but she's very organized. I was intimidated at first but towards the end I actually enjoyed this class, and I'm not a math person.
This professor is on a different level. She only goes by Kathryn, assigned seating, test are completely free answer choice. I could have the correct answer but, if you I didn't solve the problem her way I would not get credit. It is possible to succeed if you work hard enough but it will be an extremely frustrating experience no matter what.
If you come to this class thinking that it's going to be similar to your other classes, you're dead WRONG. It's imperative that you do the extra homework assignments, as relying on just the homework and lectures will not be enough to get you through this class. Kathlyn isn't the worst person in the world, but her grading will make you think she is.
YES SHE IS A TOUGH GRADER! She will want you to resolve the questions exactly like she would, and it can be a hassle. She is pretty strict for a college course class, she doesn't allow phones, and you have a certain assigned seat. all in all, she teaches well and gives out a lot of material to help you study. she is just a very average teacher.
If Kathryn is on your schedule do yourself a favor AND TAKE ANYONE ELSE. Seriously. Her Q-drop and overall average grades for students are some of the lowest at a&m. You will probably see that her class is still open, there is a reason. Don't make the same mistake I made and take this class.

She takes off points for the silliest things, and assigns so much work. This class is difficult in general, but she doesn't provide much help to make you feel confident in your abilities to pass. Her lectures aren't bad, however she never makes her expectations clear for assignments and tests. You could get the problem right but have a lot of points taken off for pointless "mistakes". She's often had attitude and didn't help much in office hours. She didn't seem like she cared about her students succeeding in the class at all. Don't take!!!
I really enjoy Professor Bollinger as a person. She is kind and means well. Overall, her class is lecture heavy. She gives homework, quizzes, and pop quizzes almost every day but won't drop more than 1 for your final grade. YOU HAVE TO STUDY! Her tests are extremely stressful - two part exams within 50 minutes, always close to never finishing.
everybody hating on kathryn is simply BAD AT MATH. if you are naturally BAD at math, DO NOT, and i repeat DO NOT take this course. you WILL fail. if you're good at math though you're chillin. she's funny and her notes are AWESOME. the only reason i have a C was cause i skipped too much! don't do that and literally you can pass easily with a B probs
Professor Bollinger is a great person who takes her class very seriously. Just put in the effort, go to office hours, and show her you care about learning the material if you do not understand something. Make sure you go to class, and score high on the homework.
I am not sure where to start. Kathryn cares about you. She wants you to do well. The best thing to do is take advantage of what she offers, office hours etc. Pay attention in class, ask questions during lecture, even if you think its a dumb question. More than likely someone else is scared to ask the same thing. Ask me questions I will answer.
I felt like I was back in high school: no talking, phones must be up, if you miss class she doesn't post notes on canvas or anything. If you ask her for notes she tells you to just ask a classmate. No videos to reference outside of class. Basically only take this class if you will have 100% attendance, no sick days, nothing.
Im good at math. She is a horrible professor and if you are smart enough to where you dont have to do every single step of a problem, do not take her. you must do things EXACTLY as she does. I took a test and missed 2 questions but because of my work I almost failed it. I dont think she cares for her students at all. Feels like a highschool teacher
She is the difference between a letter grade for people. She changed my grade on a quiz from a B to a failing grade because I didn't staple 2 pages together. She is not kind when you ask for help or do anything that is not in accordance to how she taught you or wants it. Take a different prof.
I have always been extremely good at math- until this class. She is an extremely tough grader and will take points off if things are not worked out exactly how she taught it. She takes points off for the dumbest things, like she's TRYING to fail her students. There is assigned seating. She blames her students for doing poorly on the exams. AWFUL!!!
This is the worst college class I have taken by far. If you have the option between her and another prof., do not take Bollinger. Attendance is mandatory, she moves way too fast, and there is new homework every day. The tests are basically impossible. I studied 8 hours a day for three days for a test and still got a 72. I wish I didn't take this.
TAKE ANYONE ELSE. I haven't finished this class but I despise it. She is a great teacher but I HATE THE WAY SHE CONDUCTS THIS CLASS. Condescending, inflexible, passive-aggressive, bossy, rude. You cannot skip class EVER and the work never ends. You get points off if you don't do every problem exactly as she wants it. I cannot stand this prof.
I took this class thinking it would be a blow off since I was already two math courses ahead in high school and knew most of the material already and have always done well. My friends who have other teachers have been doing significantly better. I do great on the homework and quizzes but the tests are graded so unfairly. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!
I took her ignoring all of the reviews thinking it wouldn't be that bad. I was so wrong. Listen to the reviews she is awful like if she is the only teacher left wait a semester. I'm so good at math and I have not been successful in class. Do yourself the favor and never take her

Worst professor ever! If there are no other professors just wait to take it another semester. This class isn't hard at all but she makes it tough for no reason. She takes off points for any little thing because its not the way she taught you.

She acted so annoyed & bothered whenever I would ask for help or for clarification. No attendance is taken, but there are a lot of pop quizzes in class. I love math and Kathryn ruined it for me. All her assignments and exams are free response and if you don't do the work EXACTLY like she showed in class, she'll take off a ton of points even if your work is correct. She is not welcoming to questions and always answers in a condescending tone as if she's offended that you asked. Do NOT take her!!
I did really well with understanding the materials and lectures, but this professor really did not believe in perfect grades, for quizzes the most I got was a 9.5 never a 100. The tests are literally impossible to pass because she takes so many points off for small things whether or not you got the correct answer. Should've dropped this class.
All tests and quizzes are completely free response, quizzes pop up almost every single lecture, attendance is mandatory, insane amounts of homework. She forces you to go to her office hours in order to turn things in instead of turning things in at the next lecture like a normal person?? Insanely tough grader, zero extra credit.

Reminds me of a high school teacher, or a dictator. She is mean and will intentionally embarrass students in front of the class for simple things like leaving a few minutes before her lecture is over. She will know your name, she will call you out. Her exams have no multiple choice, besides a small t/f section. There is homework before every class.
"Kathryn" refers to herself in the third person constantly, she is the only person in her classroom who is allowed to speak. She will fail your grade even if you have every answer correct and wrote out your work if it is even slightly different from what she wrote in class. She will make a huge scene if anyone asks any question. Do not take her.

Attendance is mandatory. She is good at explaining material, but a very tough grader and very specific on how you must do your work. Very nitpicky and will take points off for the slightest thing. Study the Math 140 textbook, and you will be fine.
When walking to her class, I wouldn't look both ways at intersections in hopes that someone would hit me. She is the toughest grader ever. If you do end up taking her class, study the problems in the book for her tests (she wrote the book). My best piece of advice is to take Math 140 at a community college or at least with a different teacher.
Math is easy for me and the material was not hardfor Math140 but Bollinger has to be one of the worst people I've met. She is rude and runs her class without giving students respect. I believe math has many ways of getting the correct answer but in her class, it's her way or the highway. The course is easy but I would avoid her as a professor.
Kathryn was one of the most difficult professors I've had. Office hours were not very helpful, and asking questions in class often felt discouraging due to sarcastic responses. The workload was heavy, grading was harsh, and pop quizzes were frequent. Very little flexibility in problem-solving methods, making the course stressful and unapproachable.
