horrible tests!!
Tests are impossible.
This woman has no idea about the fact that we are taking this course only as a core class. She thinks we are history majors.
This woman is an absolute moron and has no clue what the hell she is talking about. I am not a history major, yet she thought we all knew about frickin Mesopotamia and crap like scholars
She is very hard to listen to and her slides are not very detailed. There have been a lot of problems with the tests and quizes she gives, having to do with unclear questions and answers.
4 words: EVIL SPAWN OF SATAN
What a bore! Her tests are horrible and have absolutely nothing to do with her notes. She expects everyone to know everything about Chinese Dynasties... Studying doesn't seem to help!
Very smart, but extremely hard!! Get another teacer if you can.

She's hard but good. I learned alot. Go to class and keep up on readings and you should do fine.
SHE SUCKS AT LIFE
she was very helpful to me, but her test were tough. She is real nice and will help people if they would talk to her
Dr. Braund is one of my favorite teachers. She is very helpful, and I made A's in her 4010 and 3000 level classes. She is very fair, and if you go to class and study your notes, you should be fine. She's very nice too.
Dr. Braund is a really great professor. If you go to class everyday and read the material you will do fine. She is clear in her lectures and makes sure that her students know excatly what she is looking for on the exams. Southeastern Indians was great
Very by the book. No acceptions. If the university says it isn't so, then it isn't. period. The material was difficult, but not impossible by any means, and she would talk to you, and listen though it wouldn't get you any where.
good texts and very helpful in shedding light on these topics, a few papers or projects but nothing too overwhelming, very personable
All she does is lecture and they are pretty boring. She does help out if you have good attendance (i know from experience). Read the book, copy the notes, and study...you should get an A or B!
Boring lectures. I fell asleep many times, and that's not something that I normally do. She doesn't give study guides for tests, but if you know part of an answer, she normally gives full credit. Show up and study and you'll get at least a B.
great teacher! should be rated much higher
I made an A in the class, but I rarely make a B. Overall the class was monotonous and boring. Her teaching style bears semblance to the ocean. Just as she seems to be moving in one direction, she draws back out into another and leaves your notes scattered.
No multiple choice on tests...only fill in the blank, short answer, and essay. That makes it really hard...I'm an A student and I've been to class pretty much every day but I'm getting B's in both her classes. A's and B's are doable for sure, but you better be ready to go to class and study hard!!
Dr. Braund is a great teacher. She helps the students with questions and wants them to learn.
I only wish I had Dr. Braund earlier in my program. She is great, knows her stuff, and cares about her students' progress.
Sometimes she gives interesting lectures. If you don't miss classes, she gives you some leeway on your final grade. DO NOT fall asleep in class or she will flip out. Definitely not an easy class unless you love history.
She goes crazy and gets mean if you fall asleep. She covers like 8 chapters per test. She is very monotonous and boring. If there is another choice, choose it.
GET OUT.This teacher is soo hard, you cover a chapter a class. Our last test was over 11 chapters. Pretty much the worst teacher at Auburn. Get anybody but this monotone, anal woman. She will jump all over you if you fall asleep and takes attendance daily. GET OUT, GET OUT!!
Run....run while you still can.I have always dominated history but she has completely ****d me.No study guides, very little extra credit, and tests that are usually over 10+ chapters.Knows what shes talkin about but her tests are just way too detailed.A third of the class dropped it after the 1st test.Try to find someone else.
Dr. Braund is a very difficult teacher. She rushes through her lectures, doesn't give study guides, and each test is on about 10 chapters. It's very hard to study for her tests because of the amount of material. If possible, get into another history class. I've always done well in history I've made D's on both tests so far (and I studied- a lot!)
She is a fair professor, who gives lectures at a brisk pace. there are other ways to pass the class though, just by going to the gta study sessions, or getting her class outline off the internet. this class is not that hard.
Her tests cover way too much material. Not a very helpful woman. The class is long and not very appealing. There are two GTAs in my class, and I thought it was interesting that they started holding study sessions for tests AFTER the 2nd test! Come on people! By now most people that needed help have already sunk!
Please, if you have this class get out. I have never failed a class before in my life and this would be the only one ever. She's one of those 'weeding out' teachers that enjoy putting students through pain and misery. I've warned you, there are better teachers out there than her!!
I made a B in Dr. Braund's class. You have to work really hard, take very good notes, and study hard. You have to be really dedicated for this class. I'm just glad I'm done with it!
This class is def not easy. The tests do cover a lot of material, and i found the online outlines help a lot. I got a C on the first test, a D on the second, and an A on the final(busted my ass). But i do think she is a generous teacher if you come to class, she bumped my grade from a C to a B because i attended classes(she takes roll EVERYDAY)
Dr. Braund knows a great deal about what she is teaching but be prepared to only have 2 tests before your final. Our first test covered 10 chapters, our 2nd 13, and the final had 10 chapters with 35 matching questions covering the first 17 chapters. All in all this was the hardest class I took all semester and the one I had to study the most for.
i got an A in her class my first semester, yes its alot of material, but dont just write down the stuff on the outline, write down everything she says, thats where the test questions come from... i rarely used my book except if i missed something in class and needed to look it up. I learned alot more in her class than in any class ive taken here
I hate this woman with a passion! I enjoyed and did better in Dr. Crocker's class than her. This course has the potential to awesome, but instead you're wishing you could have a root canal performed. Anytime I have ever asked her help on the paper's we have to do, she refuses to "pregrade," I call it lazy. She doesn't lec. at all & heavy discuss.
BORING lectures. Goes through powerpoint quickly, almost too fast. Does tell you what you need to know, and gives you study guides. You are responsible for material in the book. Occasional extra credit opportunities.
History is my srtong subject. Never have I made below a "B" in either until now. I have a "D". If you HAVE to take this class, GO TO IT! Read the chapters BEFORE class, write more what she SAYS than what she posts. Pay attention to GENERAL IDEAS AND TIES rather than facts. Not doing that is what killed me.
She is moody at times and her tests are unpredictable. She says she does not pregrade papers which makes it hard to get help if you need it while working on it. She goes through the Power Points too fast and talks too fast so it is hard to understand. I would not take her unless you must. There are plenty of other American history professors at AU.
Prof. Braund is very difficult. If you go to class every day of the semester she will round your grade up at least two points. i ended w 77 and went to 80. really really difficult tests, i have never studied more in my life and i have a 3.75 avg. knows what she is talking about but not easy at all
Dr. Braund is not an easy teacher. It is hard to figure out what to take notes on at times, and this makes the tests difficult. You never know what to expect. The good thing is that she is very helpful when it comes to papers and questions about the test. Overall it is not a bad class.
I thought Dr. Braund was great! She obviously loves the subject of colonial/revolutionary war/early native american history, and teaches with great depth and passion. She is low-key, so it is important to listen well and take good notes, but there are no surprises on her tests. Prior to each test she gives areas from which she will choose questio
Hardest history teacher ever. Talks very fast and hard to comprehend everything she is saying. i suggest studying very hard and maybe come out with a B. GO TO CLASS!!
She straight up said that if you work hard and listen in her class and don't text or play on facebook, she will boost your grade when you need it. She will definitly hook you up. If you want to suck up: ask her about american indians, that is her expertise, she wrote a book on it.
This class sucks. Mrs. Braund doesnt breathe and is super human. I have never seen a women talk non stop for over an hour. Do not get the class.
IMPOSSIBLE CLASS!! test way to hard, makes them impossible if you dont study every second of every day
teacher is impossible. She loves history way to much and this class is impossible. I have to this point all A's one B, and an F.... Guess what the F is in, HISTORY. History is supposed to be walk in park and when half the class is failing you can see the teacher is failing at her job.
She likes to ramble about things that have nothing to do with the chapter and show useless maps and pictures. Her lectures rarely have anything to do with what's on the tests. The notes can help a little for the test and if you're more of an oral learner, you shouldn't have too much trouble with them. If you fall asleep, she'll call you out on it.
The key to this class is the online resource section she provides on Blackboard. Most test questions are drawn from the practice questions on that website. Class requires a lot of studying, but tests are not as impossible as people say there. Just pay attention. Go to class. She'll bump your grade if you're there every day.
absolutely not a good teacher! drop the class if you see this teacher. IMPOSSIBLE class. Only thing I learned is that she loves indians and history. dear lord I despise this women
Dr. Braund's tests are very hard. The notes do not really prepare you...listen closely to what she adds in class. However, she is the most helpful teacher I have had at Auburn. If she knows you care about your grade and you go to class, she will bump your grade. I ended with an 86 in the class, but made a 94 on the exam and she gave an A overall.
I never missed a class of hers, got C's on both tests and worked VERY hard for those C's made a B on the final ended up with a C in the class first C i've ever made, she is a very hard teacher and her notes dont have anything to do with any of the test questions at all. definitely do not take her, i didnt learn anything. worked too hard for nothing
abo****ely horrible. I despised going to class every day and she cannot teach AT ALL. She also cannot formulate a complete sentence while speaking. She also stutters which gets annoying. Tests are really difficult.
She's a terrible teacher and it's hard to discern from her lecture what will show up on the tests. HOWEVER, if you use the online resources and quizzes and memorize those questions, you will learn the material and likely end up with a pretty good grade on each test. She's just very boring and her TA's are out to get you.
Difficuly teacher. Ms Braund is clearly interested in what she teaches and is extremely knowledgeable, but her classes are painfully boring and her tests are impossible. Questions are in depth and hardly covered on powerpoints in lecture. Generally the class did not do well, I barely got a D.
Class was absolutely boring but you have to go if you are scared of being borderline. All I did was READ all of the chapters a couple of days before the tests which was hard but I made A's on all the tests and obv and A in the class. The practice quizzes from the book's online website were helpful and sometimes the same on the test.
her TAs are out for blood. they were ridiculously over-bearing. i went to every class and took notes (even though all she did was read off the slides she posted online) and got Cs. i was an AP student in high school and thought this should be an easy A but she made history completely dull and lifeless.
She is not a good teacher. I dreaded her class everyday. She is boring, and her TA's hate you. Don't take her class! It's awful!
She is a terrible teacher. She has made history the most boring class. It was a struggle to even come to class because I dreaded having to sit there for 1hr 15min.She is very monotone and reads off the slides she puts online. Don't bother taking notes...she doesnt use anything she says on tests. Just read the book, not worth going to class.
she is a terrible teacher....went to most classes. highlighted my notes in the book because its like shes reading her lecture straight from the book. knew the chapters forwards and backwrads and still made a D. DO NOT TAKE HER
DO NOT TAKE HER! hardest history class i've ever had. she can't get a sentence out without saying, "uhh... umm..", and getting completely off topic! i studied extremely hard for her class and barely passed. 3 tests 25% 35% 40% thats your entire grade. tests are impossible! DO NOT TAKE EVER! it's worth getting behind not to take her class!!!!!!!!!!!
Typical PHD, I know everything, type. Her views of history can be skewed at times... especially concerning Islamic history. The class isn't that hard. Keep with lectures in the book and put time in before tests. I made a B with little effort. Tip - Many test questions come from the online quizzes from the book publisher's website.
Ridiculously hard. Not sure where she got some of her questions from, honestly. Not the nicest, nor the smartest. She wasn't the worst teacher; the tests would go so in-depth that I would sit there thinking, "Is she being serious??" Haha, definitely avoid taking her. Quite awful. Made a B- with a fairly large amount of studying.
Everyone else in my class thought her tests were really difficult but I liked her. If you actually read all the readings you will be fine.
Her tests are grouped weird. The first one isn't too bad but the final and second test have 9+ chapters to them and covers a vast amount of material. Attendance is required but doesn't count for anything towards your final grade.
Honestly, this is the hardest history class I have ever taken. Usually all I would have to do is memorize everything, but for her test it seems that each question is at least 4 sentences long. She requires you to use the book unlike any other teacher. She's helpful in office hours. Overall, find another teacher if possible.
Would not recommend taking her unless you want to become a history major yourself. Really hard class and I studied constantly through the book and study guides. The only thing that saved my grade was the homework assignments. DO NOT TAKE HER.
Dr. Braund's class is extremely boring. If you always go to class, she WILL help your grade in the very end. There's only 2 exams & a final, so it is VERY important to do well on the tests. The SI sessions really help out on the tests. Don't just know the terms, you have to know their causes & impact as well. Got a C w/ little studying.
This teacher was awful. She made confusing power points and then ended up telling us not to read the power point, but just write down everything that she had to say. She also rushed through everything and had questions on the test that weren't in the book or in her lecture. She was also very rude.
Slim to no visual notes during lectures; almost completely verbal. Absolutely no guidance from her in preparing for tests, studying is a shot in the dark. She grades very hard. If you don't thouroughly read the assigned books and readings, you will fail. DON'T take her class.
She is quite possibly the rudest teacher I have ever met. Very condescending and classic know-it-all, she made the class interesting but was very unapproachable especially if you needed to ask for help. Do NOT ask questions during class, she gets visibly annoyed and has been known to snap on students. I would never recommend her classes to anyone.
She expects you to do what you're supposed to and nothing more. She's not really that strict, but just very specific and professional. She has a strong accent, which is interesting. The tests were not that hard if you listen. Just be on your best behavior and you'll do great.
Worst teacher I have ever had. She only has two tests the entire semester and the first one is over 5 chapters and the second is over 9. She makes this class way more difficult than it has to be and her tests cover way too much material to be able to truly understand and know. I am now having to drop because I dont think I can finish with a C.
Very interesting, though long, lectures. Speaks to a class of 100+ like individuals, not as "dumb freshman" When she asks a question, people answer.
Very boring lectures and goes too fast in them. If you don't read then you won't do well on tests.
Honestly the worst teacher I've had at AU so far. She goes wayyy too fast and there's no way to get the info you've missed. If you don't read the book you will fail. Only 3 tests all year broken up over chapters 1-5, 6-14, than 15-23... and they're very hard. Worked very hard and got a B, plus she's boring and not very nice.
She reads off of a script and hardly ever uses the presentation slides, which makes it very hard to take good notes
Her tests are impossible if you don't read the book, attend every class, and take really good notes. She is actually a nice person, but be prepared to work extremely hard for a good grade.
Dr Braund, is not a very hard grader, and is extremely nice, she's a great historian but just an Ok teacher, her lectures are slow and dry, and you have to read and really teach the course to yourself, your also graded by very little, and their is no participation grade in the course.
Dr. Braund is an excellent professor at Auburn University. If you are a lazy student who does not keep up with reading then your experience may not be good. Her tests are difficult, but not too much so. Her lectures are fun and she has a great sense of humor. Taking her for 2 courses was a great decision, I recommend to students who love history.
Dr. Braund is one of the nicest and most caring Professors I have ever met. But she is also the hardest professor in the History Department. She runs her class like a Graduate Level class. You are graded on four things two tests which are 35% per test and very difficult and a book review which is 20% and a research paper worth 20%.
Dr. Braund's class was interesting but impossible to pass. She had two writing projects, but only one was counted towards our grade, only 10%. the other two grades for the class is the midterm (40%) and the final (50%) in which she does not give any preparation for. Lecture is hard to follow and taking notes is scattered. BE READY TO READ.
