Professor Cairns is so interesting, funny and really cares about her students. She has been all over the world and shares a lot of great stories with her class. She wants to know what you think and encourages classroom discussions. I did not like history classes before but now I am thinking about switching my major to Humanities!
She's the best. I love her!
A great teacher that I would definitely take again. Little group discussions were pretty great. The readings are recommended to understand more of what is going on. Overall a great teacher who REALLY cares about her students passing and showing improvement! :)
Prof Cairns creates a laid back and fun environment. I learned a lot. I recommend her classes.
Really nice and sweet professor. Her class is pretty easy throughout the course and can be quite interesting, although she doesn't mess around when it comes to exams. Still, I would take her again and I recommend her.
This class changed my life and really opened my mind to things I hadnt thought about before. Also she is gorgeous and funny. She knows her stuff. Professor Cairns wants you to do well in her class and makes sure that you pass.
took her last fall 14 as a flex course it wad pretty good i would take her again :)
Easy grader. Test are so easy just take notes during lectures and bring your book. Very charming and fun class discussions. Very easy to keep up. TAKEEE HERR.
Best class I have taken in college. You will not regret signing up for this course.
She is great professor. So down to Earth her lectures are great and the tests are so interesting and fun to take. She allows for you to use notes and textbook on the tests which really help. Always shows great documentries and films to inspire us. Loved her, my favorite class in college so far. Will take her again next Fall!
Prof Cairns grades harshly on the research paper. Make sure that you know MLA & use academic articles for sources. Don't turn it in at the last minute and hope that she will give you a good grade. She will know. Also, participation is a big part of the grade. This was hands down the best class I have taken in college. I wish she taught more classes
Take good notes , pass her class
Prof Cairns is a great teacher. Information is well organized, clear information, clear deadlines. I loved that her exams were exactly what she said they would be, no tricks. There are 3 exams with essays, that are not timed. You have to read the chapters and make the connections to answer the questions. Great discussions.
Very organized and interesting online course. I wish she taught more classes.
Prof Gualtieri, Hum 115 World Mythology at FRCC Westminster, is the easiest teacher EVER! Participate in group discussion, tests open book, goes through powerpoint slides really fast but it's all in ur textbook. After test, she doesn't want to bombard u with a new unit right away so its a plus to watch a movie. 3 exams, 1 paper, 2 presentations.
She is very understanding to students responsibilities outside of schoolwork. Her class was very informative and interesting. I would definitely take her again in a heartbeat! Great professor!
Took Professor Gualtieri for Hum 20th Century online and it was great! Easy grader. Her online class consist just discussion post and 3 exams. Her discussion question are a lot of work, but its only once a week. and Her exams consist of 10 multiple choice question, 2 questions that you need to write one paragraph, and a full 5 paragraph essay.
Easy A. Group online discussion as class participation and 3 total exams base on the last discussion. The professor is very fair and allows extra time if needed.
Amazing professor. Everything is based on the book. This class consist of reading and writing. I have two jobs, so it was a bit hard for me. Just don't delay the work for another day. She does not ask for a lot of writing or reading. Every week there is an assignment that needs be turned in. I am going to take her class again.
Extremely easy class and you will pass as long as you keep up with discussion posts and do exams (which are easy as well) awesome teacher.
Down to earth and humble professor. Inspiring lectures, very funny, laid back while also very passionate about the subject she teaches. I have taken two classes with her and they were both really good. I would not say her classes are easy but that she is very organized and makes sure that you succeed. Very pretty and nice.
An excellent professor. Lectures are interesting and engaging. Offers a lot of feedback. There are three tests, each with a 5 paragraph essay, and one research paper to write. There is also some in class group work. You can use your book and notes on the test and she gives the essay topic a week before so you can be prepared. I love this class.
Professor Gualtieri is knowledgeable and witty. She is organized, she grades and responds to emails quickly. Professor G will make you laugh and gets everyone involved in the class. The exams are challenging, research paper is 4-6 pages and the short presentations are fun. I learned a lot and I can't wait to take another class with her.
Great prof. Gives plenty of lectures. there are 3 exams throughout the semester. one portion is an essay, next is multiple choice & third is short answer. you can use the textbook on all exams. There is a 4-6 page research paper but its rather easy. she gives you almost the entire semester to work on it. Participation is important within her class
This class changed my life. The lectures challenged the way that I think. I see the world in a new way now.
Professor Gualtieri is AMAZING. Her lectures are interesting and she really goes above and beyond to engage the class. If a student has a joke and blurts it out, she will laugh. She is laid back, and really easy to talk to. She responds to emails quickly and is reachable in office hours. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.
Though Professor Gualtieri presents everything clearly and makes her class difficult to fail, she had no problem speaking her mind about her political views. This made me uncomfortable since it was a tense time in the country. I understand that we have freedom of speech, but I did not take your class to listen to your views, but to get my credit.
Professor Gualtieri encourages us to speak our mind. This is the first college class that I felt like I got to know everyone around me, learn who they were and what they thought. We are all coming from different places, with various back grounds so it was really interesting to hear different point of views.
8-week course w/discussions and short & long answer tests. She states in syllabus she doesn't grade discussions until the end of the semester which sucks. The class/book itself was beyond boring - the reading was really difficult for what should be an easy topic & I dropped the class because of it. TBH don't take online or take a different class
Took this class online. Reasonable work load and interesting topic. The professor responded to emails quickly, graded fast and was very present. I had a tough semester and she was very understanding and supportive. I would definitely take another class with her.
Professor Guiltier is an amazing professor! Intro to Humanities online class consists of multiple discussions ( around 16 in total) and one discussion is due every week, 3 tests throughout the course that includes multiple choice, 2 short answers, and an essay. If you do all the work, you will definitely get an A.
She is overall my favorite professor. She is caring, class is super interesting, and very inspirational. No homework to worry about, but class really gets you thinking. Tests are not bad either. I would take her again. Honestly, just take her. You wont regret a thing.
HUM2250 Online class has 3 quizzes, weekly discussions and a short research paper. Not too much work and lots of time to finish it. The class is fascinating and will make you think. The prof is quick with emails and grades. She has your back!
Great class! I looked forward to logging on every week. No busy work. I really enjoyed the online discussions. A+
I took her class online this summer semester and it was the best humanities class Ive taken. I graduate next semester so Ive experienced a lot of teachers but none that made me feel like they cared about you (while taking the teacher online) she gave feedback on all lessons, the class is really organized, and she will go out of her way to help!
She is great! Had the biggest connection w/ her despite being an online class. Provides GREAT feedback, really cares for her student's success. The answers are easy to find & you learn A LOT! Replies super fast. Search up the textbook on Mercari, I'll be selling it there.
Professor Gualtiery is the professor. Teaching is her passion .She answers my email even on Saturday. She is great! take her
A GREAT professor for students who have a lot of obligations outside of school. You won't lose 50% off an assignment because you turned it in a day late. Most work is discussions, with a few exams and a paper. She responds to e-mails super fast and grades just as fast. I once turned in an exam and she graded it <2 hours later. I love her!!
Professor Kathryn Gualtieri is a great professor. I took her online class. She gives Discussion questions due once a week with two to three replies to peers. Three exams which are mostly the discussion questions already completed. Complete your assignment, participate , keep a copy of your work and you'll get A's on the three exams. Finished w 100
She is great. book is needed for you to prepare for each class, but it is not like you will get tested. you can look it up in google and prepare. Each exam will have a review, keep that paper and get an easy A. No HW, like never. you are graded base on a research paper, exams, show and tell and a presentation. easy class.
I love Professor Gualtieri. She inspires and motivates you to do well in the class. The lectures are very interesting! She's very passionate about teaching and it shows. She wears nice dresses and has good style. The exams are tough (short answer, essay, multiple choice) but she makes sure that you are prepared. You'll learn a lot!
This professor is awesome at giving lectures. They really make you think as a whole. Class is extremely discussion heavy which is rare to find in a lot of classes. I really like her style as well!! She is amazing at explaining the topics. Exams are multiple choice, short answers, and an essay. STUDY!! The research paper is also a big part of grade.
She is the nicest teacher alive! She really cares about her students. This class is interactive and you actually learn a lot. she gives great feedback and has a clear grading criteria.
Reading for homework every week, but it is not necessary since she explains in class and gives you a study guide before the test. Study guide is the exact same as the test. One big research paper, but should be really easy. Such an amazing professor and eager to teach students and make sure they pass her class. Highly recommend!
Prof Gualtieri is absolutely incredible. She really taught me to care about the importance of the humanities and even inspired me to pick up a double major in it. Class has one essay and three exams that you get handed in advance to study in groups. Her lectures are INCREDIBLE. Seriously never was bored in a 3 hour lecture with her. A M A Z I N G!
The class itself is very easy and not hard to pass. The issue is that because the class is mixed mode, it's A LOT of online work outside the classroom. Also there are a lot of long lectures and if you miss even one day you can't pass the class. Make sure you're wide awake before class because it's A LOT of lectures and her voice is very soothing.
SHE IS SO NICE.... tests are soo easy. and she gives a study guide that looks exactly like the test. TAKE HER. all the field trips with her are so much fun. she is just very understanding. PLS TAKE HER
Professor Gualtieri was perhaps one of many good professors at valencia Osceola, I highly recommend the class, you will pass as long as you read and do your assignments/essays. There is 3-4 essays, 3 exams and a research paper that is fun to do. Her lectures are not boring, they are full of rich content which is why you should def take her. GLUCK
Professor Gualtieri gives great feedback. Very organised and with clear syllabus. Quickly responds to emails. Interesting and enjoyable class.
Easy A. Honestly I didn't pay attention most of the time all you have to do is submission every week and answer the question of the discussion which contains 6 questions. The test has the same questions as the discussion so just copy-paste. The essays in the test are super easy she doesn't even read them as longs you have a few things explained.
She is AMAZING. She is very clear with her thoughts and is clear with what she expects of you from the class. She is caring and is easy to reach out to when in need of help. Unfortunately, the class halfway was taken online due to recent issues but I still managed to pass my class.
Highly recommend taking Prof G for your 6 hum credits. Her lectures are thought-provoking, exam reviews are given before each exam to ensure you pass easily, and there's only 1 paper. Seriously, her class is a delight and provided insightful dialogue as a form of education.
I took Professor G for online and in the classroom HUM. She challenges you, inspires and makes you laugh. She is very knowledgeable. You can tell that she loves teaching and is very engaging. Do yourself a favor and take her class.
10/10 recommend this teacher. The class was very organized on Canvas & very clear instructions. She responds to email quickly and grades quick. She's very understanding if you communicate with her. The textbook is where you will find majority of the answers to the work. Fair amount of work given the type of class.
Professor Cairns HUM2250 class is current and relevant. She has you attend virtual experiences and talk about what is happening in the world right now. The questions make you think and it is interesting to learn what everyone else has to say. This class exceeded my expectations. I look forward to taking more classes with her.
So shes a really nice professor. But I wouldnt take her again. Her discussions range from 5-8 questions but theyre like 5 questions within each. They take forever. Her tests are MC, SR, and an essay. I thought writing an entire essay for every test was a bit much. Youll pass but itll be annoying. But shes nice and responds quickly to emails.
I am not one to be interested in Humanities at all but she was amazing. Even though we were online, everything was easy to navigate. Nothing was boring as everything was based off of what we thought and not a specific right answer. She answers quickly and gives good feedback. Exams were long because of the essays but it's based off your thoughts.
I took her for Art Appreciation online. I learned a lot about art and myself in the process. I never gave art too much attention before but now I will. She grades quickly, very responsive and genuinely cares about her students. By the end of the class I felt encouraged and inspired.
If you're looking for an easy HUM online class this is not the class for you. Her discussion posts end up being over 1000 words and its all useless boring stuff. Theres like 3-4 exams and in each you have to write a full 5 paragraph essay. I really regret taking this class. This teacher loves to read and make you read.
The way the class is set up is to let you talk to your classmates about subjects that really matter in todays society. The virtual events are an effective way to experience culture. This is an important time to become aware and informed. This class does that. If you are looking for an easy A and to not be challenged- this might not be for u.
The class was easy. She gives you two weeks to turn in the work. A discussion is due every two weeks, three exams and a short paper. Assignments are relevant. She grades the day after the due date. I never had to wait on my grade. I emailed her a few times and she got back to me in minutes. Good prof. Clear expectations. Excellent communicator.
Professor Cairns was an all around great professor to have! She outline all the assignments and tests for you to easily pass. Just put effort in the work and go into detail and you will pass. The exams were pretty easy as it matched up with the homework. She gave MORE than enough time for students to do the homework and tests. I highly recommend!!
There are a handful of teachers in the world who are actually good teachers. She is one of them. She is so kind and very understanding. I worked a lot and she was always very understanding of my situation. She is always willing to help. If you do the bare minimum of reading, you'll get an A.
Lots of reading, but thats to be expected. She grades fast and gives lots of feedback. The class is dependent on discussions (length of time you have to complete them depends on how long the chapter is, trust me you have enough time), a few exams, and one research paper. Even though this class was online, you can just tell she is the sweetest!
This class is material/reading heavy. Discussions are very easy and are based off of textbook readings, but take time and effort. Prof Cairns is so sweet and gives amazing feedback and is not a tough grader by any means. If you put the time and effort in, it will reflect in your grade.
Prof Cairns is honestly one of the best professors I've had. She is extremely nice and understanding. If you do the work she provides amazing feedback. I did not have a single issue with her even during a rough semester in my personal life. TAKE THIS HUMANITIES CLASS, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME LOOKING FOR ANY OTHERS!
In-person class. About two presentations, one paper, and three exams. The questions are from the book and the study helps you with the test and very similar. Only thing I didn't like was how you had to write an essay on each exam but she wasn't tough grader. She's also really nice and cares about you.
she is not a tough grade, especially if English is not your first language. she is very nice professor, just definitely a lot of reading. she is a email replay fastest professor Ive ever have , at night time around 8pm . i took arch history 1 with her.
So inspiring! She is the best. I would take her again.
I took this class with another professor and failed it. Professor Cairns makes you want to come to class. She mixes it up, keeps it interesting, and time flies. She let's you know that she understands what it's like to be a college student and helps you. She took the time to understand where I was coming from. MVP.
Professor Cairns is by far one of the best professors to take for humanities. Attendance is mandatory but she gives 3 free days a semester for you to do whatever you want with. Study guides for exams are the exact test word for word. Gives amazing feedback and is quick with responses. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
This class consists of 3 exams and 6 discussion posts. The exams consist of a few multiple choice, 2 open end questions, and a short essay question. She gives you a week and a half to complete assignments and she is an easy grader. Replies fast and is overall a nice and caring person. Would recommend for humanities!
Professor Cairns lectures were powerful and made me understand a lot more than I thought possible. If I could take the class all over again- I would. I wish the class was longer. No complaints. Great experience.
I've been able to ask questions and she's been able to help me with those questions on my assignments including presentations and she even answers my e-mails, even when its late during the day. She's even helpful on Canvas on those assignments. Her study guides are helpful, and the exams were online. She was an amazing professor!
I took this class fully online. 2 weeks were given for each discussion post, which consisted of various questions related to 1-2 chapters from the textbook. On each assignment she gives good feedback. There are exams with multiple choice, short answer, and an essay. Easy if you have completed your discussion post. I recommend Professor Cairns!
Professor Cairns is the sweetest, most hilarious, and coolest professor I've had so far. We had 3 exams if I remember correctly, and 1 big final paper (I recommend going to the Ringling Museum field trip), plus some group work and maybe 1 quiz. She is very accessible outside of class and super understanding, just don't be late to her class!
Prof Cairns is the sweetest and most fair teacher I've ever taken. All of her content is clear and the workload is a good amount to handle. She made Humanities so much fun, which is something I didn't expect coming in to class. She is also very accessible and will reply quickly and won't make you feel like your questions are stupid. :)
I would definity take her again, it has been my favorite class out of 8.
I took this as an online course, her class is based on discussion post/test. There is multiple choice questions, short answers, and a essay for her tests. It is a lot however she gives you 2 weeks for each discussion post same goes with test. As long as you don't leave your work for last minute you will be fine. She is so sweet, would take again.
Professor Cairns is a great professor and she cares for her students all the work is straightforward if you read all the work she gives and she will add videos for you to watch.
Pros: she makes humanities fun, you get to know the whole class, zero judgement, funny, you'll meet new friends, relevant topics to your life, you'll learn a lot, you'll look forward to going to class Cons: attendance is required, do not show up late to her class, makes you resubmit the research paper till you get it right, class was over too soon
Very nice. Give discussion posts every week and they're due every Wednesday. She cares a lot and has inspirational lectures. Professor Cairns gives amazing feedback. She does give tests once in a while which includes essay writings. We had to write a research paper.
Lots of reading which is necessary for assignments. Homework can be LONG with lots of questions. 1-2 assignments due every other week (this includes tests and homework which is a plus). Kind and understanding professor. The content was enjoyable if you like humanities. Don't procrastinate!!! If you need a HUM requirement this is a solid class.
Professor Cairns is an amazing Professor. I took her HUM1020 class it was mix mode. She is always there to help out with any questions or concerns you may have. Attendance is mandatory. You're only allowed 2 excused absence anything after that requires a doctors note. Other than that she was a super easy professor, and gave great feed back! Easy A
Overall, this was great and easygoing. There is a discussion post due every other week. She was quick to respond to emails. For the test, there are about 13 questions in total 2 are from the discussions, and 1 is a five-paragraph essay while the rest are multiple choice. Not a fan of the test. Students have to do a research paper.
Honestly, this class is pretty easy. The class grades on discussions, exams, and one big research project. You do need to read quite a bit of the textbook. Exams consist of multiple choice, short answer questions, and an essay. The short answers is the same as the discussions, so just copy and paste. The essays is what you need to put effort into.
Do yourself a favor and take her class in person. Professor Cairns involves the whole class and makes humanities a lot of fun. She is calm, soft spoken and the lessons really make you think. You can tell she cares and it makes you want to care more. I agree with what people said. I didn't want the class to end. Loved her.
Kathryn Cairns was a great professor and provided good feedback. She answered all my messages quickly. There are several extra credit opportunities. For one assignment, you have to attend a Zoom lecture or an in-person lecture. Her class is set up to have reading questions due every other week on Wednesday per module.
If you fail with her, don't come back to school. Her class is so easy. You're supposed to get the book, but don't even think of it, everything is on the internet. The only thing that matters is being punctual, she is very strict with that but that's it! The rest is just having conversations in class. There's a research event project.(kind of easy)
Professor Cairns is THE Humanities prof. Surprised by how quick the time flew. Made me think about a few topics in a different way. Was never into going to museums and galleries and now I do. She helped me a lot with writing a paper. Class made me grow as a person, I learned a lot and met cool new people. Don't miss out. This is worth it.
Amazing prof. Her class was mainly discussion answering and analyzing the different chapters of the book. She gives great feedback. Exams consist of around 6-8 multiple choice questions, 2 responses (which are very similar questions to the discussion assignments), and an essay portion but she lets you exit and go back when needed. Take her!!!!!
Was nervous to take ARH at first but this prof. made it easy and enjoyable. LOTS of writing even in tests but as long as you give genuine responses she grades fairly. Discussions are interesting and the textbook was super accessible. Would take this class again if I had to. Do not hesitate, take Prof. Cairns! :)
She is caring and is truly passionate about her job. She is an amazing teacher and goes above and beyond to help the students succeed. Her feedback is always very detailed. There are about 4 essays that need to be written on the material but it is so easy, on a few I read the chapters and did the essay the same. This professor is the best!
I took this class as a half semester, so my experience may not be the same as other students. Professor Cairns is very kind, and she clearly wants students to succeed. There were 6 discussions and 3 exams throughout the course. There was a decent amount of reading, but nothing unmanageable. Overall, I would highly recommend Professor Cairns!
I took her mixed-mode class. She is very sweet, but was sometimes a bit disorganized. Assignments were only put up weekly, not all at once. It's a bit of reading, + the weekly discussions are a bit time-consuming but not very hard. Easy grader, but make sure you have all the criteria for the final paper. Not my fav class but easy and not the worst.
Professor Cairns is a passionate professor. The class environment is meaningful, organized and welcoming. She gives weekly reminders in class and online. I never waited more than a day after turning in assignment to get a grade. Responds to email quickly. Always has music playing and smiling. She's a good teacher more importantly a good person.
Our class created an exhibit with our own art in the gallery. We all became good friends and we keep a group chat going. My fam got to see my artwork on the walls. Made me proud of what we all created. The experience made me grow. We learned about each other in a meaningful way. Prof Cairns let us be us, trusted us, and valued our ideas.
This is THE class. I loved her, her style, her positive attitude, and how she made humanities relatable. She's laid back but in a good way. I always looked forward to class to learn something new and see what she was wearing.
Professor Cairns was the best professor. There is a discussion post due every other week. Once that discussion post is due, there are exams due every other week, but they are fairly easy. She is kind and understanding and not a tough grader. There is one EC opportunity at the end of the semester. It was an easy course to maintain an A in.
Professor Cairns was amazing. She was passionate about her class and teaches very well. Her class matches her syllabus 100%. She is easy to work with and is accessible if you need to contact her online. Expect some online quizzes and for her final a research paper which she prepares you for from the beginning. 10/10 class!!
Professor Cairns makes this humanities class engaging and thought-provoking. While the workload can be heavy, her clear guidance and helpful feedback make it manageable. Leveraging unstuck study's tools alongside the textbook has been crucial for acing the exams.
This professor is overall very nice and understanding. Her assignments are mainly discussion post and her final exams have similar/same questions from your past discussion post so you'll be prepared for her online exams on canvas. This class is over all very easy as long as you do all the work on time and correctly.
I was going to take this class online and I'm glad I didn't. Professor Cairns has a very calming presence. The class is very inspiring and has motivated me in new ways. Open yourself up to the lessons she teaches your and life will benefit. If you make a joke in class she will joke back with you. I love her.
Professor makes it easy for you to track your progress because she grades quickly. If you make a mistake, she will let you know, and give you a chance to resubmit. If you have an issue, talk to her and she will help. You will get a response to your emails right away. Teaches well, knows her stuff, and is very passionate about the subject. 10/10
I strongly recommend you to have this professor. Something rare that I've seen among professors is that she genuinely reads through your work carefully giving meaningful feedback. I would say she grades pretty fairly as long as you answer every element of the question. The only thing is that you need to prepare yourself for a buttload of work.
The easiest grader. This class was a breeze, she gives you good feedback. As well as gives you nice compliments, seems very sweet. I definitely recommend taking her.
Creative assignments, interesting topics, great group of people, and a passionate professor. Enjoyed the experience. Always looked forward to going to class. Workload is manageable, she grades fast, cares about you, and keeps you motivated. I will take more classes with Professor Cairns.
I personally loved Professor Cairns, she always graded her assignments very quickly, and this class was one discussion post every two weeks (8) and 3 exams for the whole semester. The discussion posts can be quite lengthy and time-consuming, but it's manageable, and you can tell she genuinely cares for her students. I definitely recommend her!
Amazing teacher, and truly a lovely person. Assignments are fun and conversations are engaging. Very few assignments that sucked, most all the other ones were fun. She makes it easy to contact her as well as other peers. One final paper, but its fun and easy.
Amazing professor, her lectures are actually entertaining and she knows what she's talking about without having to read off of a slide. The workload is light, she grades assignments fairly quickly and give feedback ALL the time. She always make sure to have a classroom activity never a bad day in her class.
