Easy to talk to.

Great teacher, lots of patience. Hot!

She's a new teacher, she's really nice and easy to talk to. She doesn't count attendance, but you should still go everyday because her lectures is whats on her tests. She gives you a study guide and if you can stick to it you'll be good. Two 8-10 mins. presentations are required!

Stanton is great. She has clear, concise lectures and her exams reflect what she lectures on. She is a great person to talk to during office hours and she will be one of those Professors that you will want to talk to, even after the semester is over. She's great.

Overall great teacher. Fun, professional, clear about what she expects. Excellent class to take.

Stanton is a good teacher obviously knows alot about what she teaches...tends to talk to fast trying to cram too much info into her lectures but the material isnt that difficult tests are relativley easy..she grades on a bell curve

She is an interesting teacher who puts all of her lectures on power points. Though her classroom is very cold.

This is one awesome teacher. Absolutely no need to buy the book, you don't need, but you do need the lab book. All her tests are based off of her lectures. Although, she tries to get a little too much in her lec she is a great teacher, take lots of notes, you'll need them. She is very easy to talk to. Very clear and fun.

Her class was very fun and I found her very humorous. She is very helpful and the tests are pretty easy. Take lots of notes and its good. This class made me much more interested in geology.

this class is not easy, but it is lots of fun. she tries to help as much as she can during her office hours. offers very little extra credit. in order to pass her class you have to actually know the material.

Stanton is a great teacher, very clear, interesting lectures, approachable, funny, and knows geology. The only reason I dropped this class was because we were required to do TWO Powerpoint presentations which make up a substantial portion of the grade, which I felt was way too demanding for an intro science class.

Great Teacher. She was nice and helpfull. She teaches concepts so the class is not borring. Stanton is easy just as long as you come to class and study about 4-5 hours for each test. She is also one of those teachers that seem to know everything there is about her subject. I highly recomend her.

Actually makes Geology interesting! The tests are difficult, and you have to do two presentations, but most science classes require a lot of work. She is an impressive teacher. Lectures are clear and interesting, ans she very much cares about her students. Extremely knowledgable in her field too!

She is engaging. I look forward to this class every week because I actually get something out of it. She is always willing to clarify and give any and all help necessary. Office hours, office hours.

Kathryn is a great teacher. Very approachable. Lots of material, but she makes it fun to learn. Take her and you will learn to love earth science and get a rock collection going.

Professor Stanton is extremely knowledgeable about the material she teaches. More importantly, she takes the time to make it clear. If you are interested to learn and increase your ability to think critically, take her Earth Science class! It is a great requirement class, and she's a valuable teacher who stresses the importance of learning, period

Prof. Stanton is a great teacher and a wonderful person. If you attend lecture the tests should be fairly easy. She outlines her lecture and uses a lot of visual aid to help students learn. P.S. don't buy the book; her lectures are more than enough.

Kathryn is one of the most kind and CLEAR professors I've had the pleasure of taking. I found the textbook helpful but unnecessary -- her lectures contain all the material one needs to ace the class. The labs are a bit of a drag (buy the lab text!), but she's helpful, patient, and crystal-clear. She's a wonderful person, and an asset to SCC.

Best teacher I've taken in college yet. She's extremely smart and will answer ALL questions. Come to class and you will Ace or get at least a B on the exams and get 100s on your time lines. the book is helpful but she doesn't test out of the book just lectures. TAKE HER!!!!!!

Off the back, I SUCK @ the whole science/math thing. However, I got a B in Dr. Stantons class. She's a GREAT professor! She really wants her students to do well & will take the time to make things clear. She doesnt take roll, BUT SHOW UP! You'll do great if you SHOW UP!! Her lectures arnt confusing, Just alot of note taking! Thats the hardest part

Don't buy textbook, test are based on notes during class.Test are multiple choice, easy if u have all the notes. Show up to take notes! Only thing I don't like is the group essay!

She is great very nice easy to talk to and makes her lecture fun and clear one of the best I have had! Just go to class and take the notes all the answers for the tests are there its very organized!

one of the best teachers i've had at scc...her class is a little difficult...you have to show up and take notes. don't have to buy the book (i didn't) but she has a great way of teaching and you can tell she loves what she does!

Stanton is a great professor, very knowledgeable. Her tests are more from the lectures and what she says, rather than the book or what is on her power points. You must pay attention and study if you want a good grade. Highly recommended!

Lab class is pretty easy, just make sure you follow directions. I also took her for 305 concurrently so I got my fair share of her this semester. Lab Quizzes are a little difficult because they cover material that goes back a few weeks, but they are do-able.

i thought she was a good professor her quizzes are hard but her labs are quite easy if you follow the directions. i'd suggest her as a professor.

Great Teacher, very clear, very helpful, and very passionate about her work. By far one of the best teachers at City College.

Had Professor Stanton last semester&I loved her class!Her teaching style is creative!It's very helpful to read the chapters before lecture.I underestimated the class hardness at the beg.of the semester since I was comparing it to microbiology or chemistry& this class does requires study time.Loved the fieldtrip.And love the subject.Recommend her.

I got an A in this class. I didn't have to buy the book because if it wasn't on the .pps lecture it wasn't on the test. I laughed when she said it's a serious course and would take 3hrs study time per 1hr in class when my anatomy or micro had recommend 5. Now I double laugh cuz it took 0.

Very good teacher. Tests are straight from lecture and Powerpoint. Must takes notes. Tests are multiple choice.

this class is easy AS LONG AS YOU TAKE THE TIME TO STUDY!! she's a great teacher who likes to equate geology principles to food a lot. very easy to understand, but you can't miss many classes because all of the test questions are straight from the notes. This was my favorite class of the semester.

Very organized & clear with her lectures! Funny and she knows it! TAKE NOTES & STUDY! ***FIRST 2 WEEKS WILL BE RATHER DIFFICULT/STRESSFUL*** Ask questions, she's real helpful & office hours are more than generous. She's AWESOME at what she does. Field Trip is relaxing & entertaining.

She is such a sweet woman but she is no help when it comes to telling you what is on the test. don't expect study guides at all. she tests on specifics so just know EVERYTHING. missing a day is not advised because you'll never get those notes. she doesnt use the book so don't buy it. if you can't study well, then this isnt the class for you.

It's a challenging class, but there are plenty of resources for you and Stanton is a pleasure. Just take good notes and you'll be alright.

Very knowledgeable teacher. Explains subject & concepts very well for some of the complexities of the class. Lab is harder than lecture for sure, but reading text before class may help. Have to study hard, but it will be worth it. One field trip. Overall, very interesting class, & a good grade is attainable if you put in moderate effort.

Amazing professor. Very helpful and informative when you have questions. Tests are based off in class power point notes so don't miss a class day. Also the textbook is utterly useless so don't bother to get it. Enjoy the class, attend the class, do the worksheets and you'll be fine. Amazing teacher. 10/10 would take again.

Prof. Stanton is a wonderful professor! She has very clear and informative lectures and will answer any questions you have, and I've never seen her unable to provide one. The text is an easy read, but you don't really need it if you attend lectures. She takes every opportunity to provide help to her students with office hours and a section to write questions to her within the worksheets you turn in. Tests are so easy if you attend lectures and take notes; about 60 multiple choice on each.

The most knowledgeable professor I have had. Her enthusiasm is contagious and explanations extremely clear! She makes the subject fun. Tough tests & flashcards are a must for a good grade. Drops lowest score of 3 midterms, a bit of extra cred offered,I did better on tests when I read the book so I recommend it.IMO the best of the best @ Sac city.

She a great professor. She does power slide while going over with it which make it alot easier to understand. It's an easy class and attendance is mandatory to take note. Most of her note are VERY important because they got to do with quizzes and test. I recommend her to anyone who interest in taking her class.

Dr. Stanton is a great professor! Do no take her classes lightly, the amount of work you put in is what you get out. Her lectures are clear, but she doe not put them up, note taking every class is a must. Never picked up my book. 4 Academic articles with 3 MidTerms & 1 Final. I studied hard to get an A, if you like challenges this is the class.

She's a tough grader. Attendance is a must. The tests are hard and you need to be a good note taker.

Great professor!

Straightforward, clear, and fair. There is a tiny bit of extra credit for 2-3% of your grade in the form of pop quizzes. As many have said, if you don't go to class you will not pass.

This class was tough for me. You need to study to be successful. Overall I really enjoyed the subject and I learned a lot. You go on a field trip. 3 tests and a final. 4 lab quizzes. She drops your worst test and your worst lab quiz. This is not an easy class to ace so you need to work hard for it. She is a very good teacher and you will learn

This was an excellent class! She was really easy to talk to and wants you to ask a million and one questions since its such a heavy topic. Willing to help anyone immensely if they're willing to ask for it. P.S. Google the science articles before you read through the whole ten pages, you're welcome.

Favorite professor at SCC! She changed her grading this semester so 20 quizzes, 4 articles, and 1 cumulative final. Each quiz before class (usually about 12-14 questions). Drops 2 lowest quiz scores and lets you revise each science article. She's awesome! Put in the effort, take great notes, and you will pass.

Fall 2016. Her style of teaching improved my style of learning. She did mention to us that she changed her layout - now a 14 question quiz after every topic(yes!), three article summaries, and then a final exam. She is uber smart and has made a huge impact on my thinking. I'll miss her immensely. And yes, she is absolutely gorgeous!

I absolutely loved her class. I highly recommend taking her lab with the lecture. It definitely helped me. She is always willing to help you. Her lectures actually make sense and he goes above and beyond to make sure you understand.

Great class! all of her quizzes are based on the notes taken in class, after every section she gives you a quiz in the beginning of class. and then 4 article exam and 1 final. She follows the syllabus which i love. Never absent. Always in her office and is very helpful. To succeed you just have to be in class taking notes and then studying it after

instruction is great but you need to work hard for your grade. no homework assigned. 60% of your grade is on quizzes/ exams, 40% on final. You need to study the material well. book is optional since quiz is on lecture material. You write everything, no notes provided. She's also a tough grader. there are 4 science article exams which are tough too

You absolutely need the book for lab. It's expensive $150 or so. Doesn't really like you buying used book since pages could be torn out, but if buy one that is complete photo copy pages and you can submit labs like that. All labs are graded, you NEED to be at lab in order to get credit, If you dont finish you can finish later for better grade

Prof. Stanton makes her class enjoyable with her intriguing lectures and concepts that she teaches about Earth Science. There are quizzes for every lecture along with four article exams and a final exam. Everything is very straightforward and easy as long as you study! She is available to help you in office hours and is a fantastic professor!

Stanton's lectures contain a ton of information, and she moves very fast. There are quizzes almost everyday which you must study for. There is also a final, which is difficult to prepare for. The lab was very hard. Mandatory field trip was a waste of time. Lab quizzes were painful. Now that it is over, I can't remember much about geology.

Passionate, funny, and great at explaining concepts. Easygoing yet no-nonsense. Creates a fun atmosphere and encourages curiosity. The class was more time-consuming than anticipated and test/quiz heavy (25 total), but the consistent chunking of content proved an effective way to learn. Quizzes are straightforward. Bonus: she's a Talking Heads fan!

This class was very interesting, but its one of the hardest Ive taken. You have a quiz almost every class and the lec is all note taking. Lab is very challenging. Shes very easy to reach, and always in office willing to help. Take advantage of her help! This is my most time consuming class. You really do learn a lot though.

Great class, awesome professor! She really makes you work for your grade though. Quizzes you every week. Expects you to know the material thoroughly. I highly recommend her if you want an engaging course where you will learn fascinating things about Earth. But you must put in study time and work to pass. You should do just fine, if you do so.

Professor Stanton is an awesome teacher. If you are paying attention to her lectures, it is effective for quizzes(after every chapter) and engaging. Office Hours were a great help as she shows she wants her students to pass but trying to help you understand as best she can.

Really great class. Her lectures are not posted online (only images that add notes) so you have to be there to get the content. She does quizzes after two chapters and then there are article quizzes that you need to read several times to understand. She was funny and open to answering any and all questions. Made geology fun oddly enough.

Professor Stanton is one of the best professors I have ever had. I felt like I had learned a ton of things about Earth Science by the end of the course and the time and effort she puts into her lectures and in explaining the material is top notch! If you put in the time to study, you will definitely walk away having learned a lot about our planet!

I took this class during the covid pandemic. She has very good lectures and explains things well especially in office hours. We had a quiz every week but just take notes and you will pass. She is very caring and wants to help all her students pass.

Dr. Stanton is a great professor! The work load was ok. A little tough on the article assignments (4) but its understandable - its Earth Science! She gives great feedback when she corrects your assignment. Her lectures are easy to understand. She cares a lot about the students and always checks in on us and at the same time, allow us to learn.

Gradings on the discussion posts are a bit tough but it's alright. Must attend at least 1 office hour every 3 weeks since there're no synchronous classes. Amazing lecture. Tests and the final are based on lectures, not textbooks. A great, cool professor with nice humor sense, approved by a Gen Z kid.

I took both the lab and the lecture for this class and each week we had about 6-10 hours of lecture and the labs would take me about 2-4 hours to finish.

Amazing lectures, and it really makes a difference in showing up to her class. She really makes the class interesting and succeeds in making students ask engaging questions. I decided to take the accompanying lab to GEOL300 because I enjoyed her class so much. There is a weekly quiz on the lecture, and the weekly assignment is a concept sketch.

A concept sketch + quiz is due every week. The final exam is three big questions, no other tests. This class definitely requires effort and isn't easy. Sketches take 1-2 hours. All lectures are also posted online so skipping class is fine. Dr.K is definitely understanding so if you talk to her during office hours she'll always help you out.

Professor Stanton was great, she's really straight forward on her class requirements and creates a schedule go assignments that repeat throughout the semester removing the hassle of having to constantly check canvas. Concept Sketches make most of your grade, there is quizzes each week and a cumulative final at the end where you can use your C.S.

You will come out of Dr. Stanton's classes (and labs) a better student. If I could give her a better rating than 5 stars, I would.

She was super fun and kind. Definitely one of the better professors. The geology lab was pretty relaxes as well. I learned and was excited to to learn when attending class

Loved this class! Professor Stanton is great at explaining things and making lectures interesting. Never left the class bored. Concept sketch and quiz every week, tedious time wise. Very accessible outside of class and replies quickly. Also incredibly patient and caring. 100% would take again and again! :)

I honestly love Prof. Stanton and how her teaching style caters to each student. Her class was not super difficult, as long as you listened and followed the instructions. She is very reasonable and deeply cares about your understanding of the material. I would 100% take her again if I had the option.
