She hos very old-style exams you need to read, memorise and remember for the exams the QUESTIONS ARE TOUGH, AND she is a tough grader. Do Not Take course with her, any another instructor WILL be a better chose.

She wastes so much time on silly stories that are relevant but are not tested at all. DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU HATE UNCLEAR PROFS. She never really specifies what is due when unless you grill her.

Taft is a fickle mistress. She doesn't seem to be into teaching to actually teach the students. She will say one thing, then will mark it wrong when you do it. Not much direction, asks you to contact her via convoluted methods instead of just E-Mail. Will berate you in front of the class, and not apologize when she's wrong. Will avoid.

Taft is pushy with her classroom policies, and showed a lot of spiteful and unprofessional behaviour. Im not afraid of profs so that didnt help, but it ended up with Taft kicking me out of class, sending me to the business chair, and sending me to the dean of business. 3 separate occasions. All over a no screens policy. Leave me alone Taft! nvr agn

Brutal time taking this dry course with Taft. I was warned but I just didnt think it could be this bad! Disrespectful, rude, talks down to students, seriously how does she still have a job?! Power trips, thinks shes a God. Dont do it! Run the other way

Talks the entire 3 hours of class... Grades as if we were HR professionals, talks at you instead of explaining things to you, just does not teach. Makes everything harder for no reason... she is a fairly nice lady though.

Kathryn is condescending, talks down to students, and teaches us 10% of the time while boasting about herself the rest of the time. Her favorite thing to tell her students is that they're "confused", therefore they're wrong and she is right. Grades us as if we have been doing HR for years and should know better

She okay if you are taking HR course with her however labour relations was another story. she is never clear on what is important and doesn't clearly explains everything however I believe she is extremely knowledgeable she can not connect her knowledge to teaching well. she has her own way of grading basically what she thinks its right or wrong

I don't really know where to start but having Kathryn"Karren"Taft as my professor has been my worst experience so far. She acted as though she was some sort of HR executive and we were all interns with her condescending tone and completely ridiculous grading marks. I will never take a course with her again. I would advise you to never either.

She expects you to master HR to the core. Funny thing is all she gives us is a textbook and quizzes that she doesn't write, moreover, she has no lectures and expects us to be industry professionals. She gives vague instructions and put zero effort into this class, while marking like she's god throwing zero's at people.

The only reason I put hilarious as an attribute was because it was funny how bad of a professor she was. Worst teaching experience Ive had in post secondary. In my opinion it looks bad on Capilano having this woman on their roster. Trust me, avoid this sad excuse of a teacher at all costs.

Worst professor on the planet. She is lazy and does not put any effort in at all. Her online class that I took was a disaster. I believe her non-remote classes are not better. We neither heard her voice nor saw her face even for once throughout the whole semester, and she did not even seem hesitant to give 0s to too many groups of five people plus.

Garbage professor. Had her during the pandemic. It was an online class (not self-guided) and she never held one lecture. The entirety of the 3.5 months, I never once heard her voice or saw what she looked like. She was very critical in her marking and grading without being helpful at all. Laziest and most useless prof I have ever encountered.

This is the worst prof i have ever had! She has no respect for her students & their work. Semester was online but not once she has talked to us, posted an introductory video or told us what she expects from us. The course couldve been super scoring but she was a veryyy tough grader and wanted us to do assignments as if we we mastered in HR.

Kathryn does not care about teaching. She lectured on the first class, but then went MIA and gave poor direction on assignments through our course forum. She is an unrealistic marker based on her lack of teaching.

Kathryn will spend the first 10 minutes of class venting and talking about anything that's bothering her, then around an hour gloating on how great she was in her HR days. For the last 30 minutes she'll give you unclear instructions on the next assignment. Then she'll grade you as if you're an HR specialist, expecting literal perfection. AVOID!!!!!

Kathryn seriously needs to re-consider the way she grades her students. She is the most picky and condescending prof I've ever had. She'll spend hours looking at your work trying to find the tiniest of mistakes, just to justify giving you a low mark; only to show you "HR isn't an easy job". I loved this semester, but KT made it truly my worst one:(

Kathryn enjoys watching students struggle in her class. She thinks that makes her look very smart, since she feels as if "not anyone can work in HR", and "it takes a curtain type of person". So many groups in her class keep getting 0's in assignments that they've spent hours on, no-one speaks up though sadly. AVOID AT ALL COST, TRUST!

Won't give feedback on projects until after she's graded them. What's the point of asking for feedback after you've already given us a very low grade that's irreversible? Her instructions are unclear and she grades unfairly so groups obviously wanna know if they're on the right track before handing in their work, but nope, she refuses to give any..

Her instructions were very unclear for assignments. It just seemed like my group was guessing about what we had to do. Kathryn wasn't helpful when we emailed and asked for clarification. She spent half the lectures talking about how people messed up the previous assignment. Lectures last too long, which means not enough time to do the assignments.

It is easy-ish to get a good grade in her class, her midterm and final are based off the textbook and questions are fair however on all other assignments her marking is hard. She didn't actually do any teaching, she would give assignments and you had the class time to complete them, good feedback, but then you probably already failed the assignment

Plan on not having any questions answered or emails replied. I had her online and she would have 30 minutes a week where we would use the slowest chat ever to answer the entire classes questions and she wouldn't even show up to most of them. AVOID

Lectures are so boring and pointless. Tough grader no matter how much effort you put in. Lots of homework and assignments

As a mature student who graduated already from post-secondary and now finishing my BBA, she is the worst teacher I've ever encountered. Received 85% on exams and quizzes and 50% or lower on her assignment cause she has ridiculous expectations. I never used this site before, but that's how much I can't stand her. She is a 0/5 doesn't deserve a 1/5..

She is awful and very bad grader she doesn’t know how to mark. She thinks everyone is superior but we here to learn. Never take any course with her you will regret.

She expects you to know HR as if you had worked in the HR department for over 5 years. She is never wrong and she makes it clear that you are the one that didn't pay attention. In the middle of the semester, she took off the final exam, thinking that we would appreciate but 90% of the class is suffering from keeping up with the class.

This course is mandatory for BBA. Not comfortable asking follow-up questions. If you didn't understand what she said during her lecture, you're on your own. The irony is that it is a human resource management class yet she is the least resourceful human I've ever had to listen to. Don't just take my word for it, read the rest of the comments below.

By far the most disrespectful teacher I've had in my 3 years at Uni. She doesn't clearly explain anything and if you ask her a question she will give you the most sarcastic response (everyone is scared to ask questions because of her making you look like a fool in front of the class). The only reason for taking her class is because it's mandatory.

She is by far the worst teacher I had. Her expectation of the class is if a student worked previously in HR management. When you ask her questions she replies with irony and critics. I don't recommend anyone to take her class.

I feel bad for her family. Years of abuse through HR has probably taken its toll in her. Please suggest her to retire after you receive your final mark or when you end up dropping her class. I missed that chance and i cant get satisfaction through Email.

The spring 2023 term is also been taught by you. I don't know why you teach this course even after you don't know how to teach. Please, for god sake do not teach this class in Summer 2023.

Kathryn Taft is truly the worst professor you will probably have at Capilano. Not to scare anyone who is going to take her class, but I would avoid her if possible. If you take an online class with her, she'll spend 80% of the class convincing people to put their cameras on. Throughout her entire 80-minute lecture, maybe 5 minutes of it is relevant

She is the worst instructor by far .No respect towards students and its really hard to talk to her in class even ask a question regarding any assignment she just make your fun in front of whole class . I think she have some mental issues. Prefer to other students do not ever take her course better to avoid her .

She was one of the worst professor I have had. Her grading was unreasonable as she often refused to give marks for answers that didn't support her opinion, even if your answers were correct! Even though she was supposed to be teach the students to be culturally inclusive, she was the only person that was biased.

She is always strict and never flexible. No extensions, asks to use textbook terms no marks even if the material is correct. Gives exams from previous homework or class reading and time is very less for the quizes and exams.
