Very hard. Tests do not relate to material in book or in class!!
The worse teacher I have encountered at UF. The class GPA was a 1.8, be afraid be very afraid.
Worst teacher I have ever had.
Unhelpful!!
If you see this woman's name on your schedule, RUN!!! Without a doubt the worst teacher ever.
This woman should not be allowed to stand before students. She is unclear, crazy, and very unwilling to help. If you see her name on your schedule, DROP the class and change your professor. Seriously! SHE SUCKS!!!
Williams is the spawn of Satan...she gives the hardest tests and quizzes, but is completely unwilling to help you understand the material. Ask her a question, and she will make you feel like the dumbest human alive. RUN!!!!
Not too great at teaching. When you ask a question, she makes you feel dumb and criticizes instead of helping. I went in to her office a couple times, but I was kinda afraid to ask a question for fear that she might criticize.
Studied for 3 full days for her final and barely passed with a 60%. I had good grades on all of the unit tests, but almost failed the final.
This is the worst teacher I have ever had, HANDS DOWN. Also the hardest final I have ever taken. This lady truly belongs in an institution.
does not explain concepts well and does not help students with problems very well. usually responds with criticism.
NUTS! do not take her class, she doesn't explain anything and is very scatter brained not to mention her voice makes you want to kill yourself.
She was extremely disorganized and could not handle the "clicker" quizzes at all. Don't be ignorant enough to think that lectures alone will not get you through the course. She was very sarcastic, but she was civil enough during her office hou

horrible teacher. i dreaded going to that class everyday, and when i went to the office hours, she did not even help but had another student help me who was not helpful at all. when asked her a question, she is exasperated/annoyed. DO NOT LET HER TEACH.
She shouldn't be allowed to teach. I wanted help every week during her office hours after failing the first test. She laughed at me, told me I would never pass chemistry, and pulled out the catalog to help me find a major that didn't require chemistry.
Goes very fast, quizzes are harder than tests, sometimes no one has a clue what she is talking about
If you get Williams, drop your section and get another professor. ANYONE is better than Williams. Her voice makes you want to cringe and she makes you feel mentally incapacitated when you ask her a question. Her tests SUCK. I dropped the course.
She is horrible teacher. If you ask a question, she seems to be annoyed.
She should be sent to a mental institution and studied! She wears the same exact clothes everyday! She is extremely rude and sarcastic to anyone who asks a question. Don't even bother asking for a scantron on the day of the exam if she forgot your row!
She's kind of weird, but the class isn't too difficult. She goes through everything and all her notes are handwritten on the projector. Quizzes are usually more tough than tests.
I dropped the class and changed my major because of her. She is extremely rude and annoyed when someone asks a question and she seems to expect the class to understand right away. She also seems bothered during office hours.
Horrible teacher!! Her quizzes and tests don't reflect what she taught or the book. She is very unclear and goes off topic a lot. She's worn the same outfit everyday. If possible try to switch out.
very bad professor, she digresses from whatever she's supposed to be teaching and starts talking about beer and baking, her voice is rather annoying but enough to put you to sleep, she wears the same exact thing everyday...i think she's mentally insane
She is the worst teacher I have ever encountered. Her tests and quizzed reflect nothing as to what she taught in class, and what she tells you to study doesn't really have anything to do with the tests or quizzes. Dont take her
This lady is horrible. You'll never understand a thing and it's terrible to sit through her lectures. The book is surprisingly your only good teacher in the course and her exam & quizzes are real hard. Drop the class ASAP!

SHE IS VERY UNCLEAR DURING LECTURE. AND SEEMS VERY BOTHERED BY STUDENTS ASKING QUESTIONS. THEY ONLY WAY TO PASS THIS COURSE TO LIVE AND DIE FOR THE CLASS
Dr. Williams comes off at first as a ****, but when you get to know her she is actually one of the most helpful professors I have had at UF. She does not have any tolerance for people who are not willing to work, but if you are she can be a great asset.
I dropped the class and switched my major because of this woman! She is unclear, unhelpful, and it is hard to focus in her class because she has an annoying voice. If you want to succeed in this class...don't take it...or devote every waking moment of your life to it.
I dropped the class and changed my major because of her. She is extremely rude and annoying. she seems to expect the class to understand right away. Her test are extremly hard, and i feel sorry for you, if you take her class because you will fail, unless you are super smart and know everything.
this class is so hard :( I want to cry... I studied 7 hours for the quiz and got a D
I think she is a funny old lady who is trying very hard to teach a huge class room full of students who don't really care. I like her class and am not going to switch my major because of a chemistry class
her voice makes you want to stab your eardrums with your pen

She is definatly one of the worst teachers I have ever had. The quizzes are really hard but the tests arent that bad. The grading scale is really slack so you have room to not do so well.
Her voice makes you want to cry and she is really snappy.
If it weren't for the TA's,I would be failing!!!
very hard
I think she tries but she's just not a good teacher. I made a good grade but unless you have a good grasp of chemistry, avoid her. She's not clear and discourages questions. She's very unapproachable. She goes off on tangents and focuses on stuff that isn't in the book. GO TO CLASS AND WRITE EVERYTHING SHE SAYS DOWN!!!
If you don't like chemistry her class is really hard. If chemistry gives you problems make sure you us the TA that has SI(supplemental instruction). I had Genna and she knows chemistry and specifically this class extremely well. Good luck!
She went out of her way to hurt my grade. She doesn't care about any student or their grade. I have a 3.5 GPA and may not even pass this class.
Catch her on a good day and she will help you. Make sure you know what you want when you go in there to see her. She likes people who are self-assured.
She just sat up there and did problems on the overhead in a very dry and uninteresting fashion. She seemed terribly cranky and annoyed at questions.
She's pretty unapproachable, very unsupportive, inarticulate and ambigious when providing explanations. While I'm sure shes quite good in the lab and is knowledgable about her areas of chemistry, she simply isn't cut out for teaching. Apparently she thinks every question is stupid and gets annoyed very easily.
to be fair to prof. williams, i had a TA, not her. However, she oversees all sections of the lab, and it is pretty difficult. Be prepared to spend a lot of time outside of class between studying and doing lab reports. Also, be prepared to be in lab for 3.5 to 4 hours every lab.
She was a terrible professor. She obviously did not enjoy her job, and spoke with a horrible shrill voice.
Doesn't she kinda remind you of Janet Reno?
she comes off as a bit insane. don't expect to do well if you know nothing about chemistry and aren't willing to go to the TAs for help. she gets annoyed when you ask questions. try not to miss class because she tests you on random stuff not in the book. the quizzes are hard but the tests are considerably easier.
her tests are almost impossible...even my friend who is a chemistry wiz said they are way harder than they need to be. make sure you study the notes, the book helps only slightly, and DO PRACTICE PROBLEMS! the reviews for tests don't help too much.
I would never recommend her to anyone: she's shrill, impatient, and unorganized. You have to work insanely hard to pass, and go way more than above and beyond to get a desirable grade. If you must take her, here are some tips: never miss class and take good notes; ALWAYS go to the TA's office hours before EVERY quiz/ test; do ALL the practice Q's.
She was such a witch...........I didn't like her at all.
She is Horrible!! You better be ready to study you life away if you get her as a professor! Her tests are crazy hard and are on the things she barely touched on in class. She literally tries to trick you on them! I was at every single lecture, and i don't think it helped me at all. She dosn't care about her students, she wants you to fail.
If you can try.. get a different professor. If you cannot.. go to class, pay the hardest attention you've ever paid in your life, go to the TA's office hours and exam reviews.. and you should do alright.
This class was very difficult. Dr Williams knows the subject, but she can't teach it. She's very unapproachable, and gets annoyed when questions are asked. I studied hours for this class, did EVERY practice problem, and went to all the TA's office hours, and barely got an A. I studied harder for this class than any other. Be prepared to work hard!
This calls is really hard. Go to the supplemental instruction sessions, they are really helpful. She gets her test questions from the quizes so learn from your mistakes on the quizes.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! If you have to for your major, talk to your advisor and see if you can transfer to santa fe for a summer and take the course, it isnt worth taking from Williams. I studied the hardest I ever have and still had to drop the class. Beware of what you are getting yourself into!!!!
She is a very difficult teacher because she just lectures and you have to pay attention to some of the smallest details. If she does a demonstration remember it! And do the HW problems because she bases her tests and quizzes on them.
this is the lowest possible chem at UF but is the hardest! she has funny mannerisms, she is snappy and if you want to live and survive without thoughts of committing suicide, please do not take her class, take it at a comm college. the only way to pass on of her tests is to have 40 years of chem to back you up, like she does, very passionate though
This class is very hard! Make sure you start studying from the beginning which will help in the end. Her notes do not relate to quiz or test questions. Go to the review sessions before the exams, they are very helpful. Studied tons to pull a B.
Very hard class. I ended up with a C, barely. Go to all the supplemental instruction opportunities, and do all the homework problems. Study from mistakes on quizzes because it will help you on the test!
She's hilarious! Very nice lady.
she is rude and not helpful at all. the class is hard.
She's an absolute nut case and everyone laughs at her all class cause she's so weird. Her tests and quizzes are tricky so be prepared to study A LOT. You have to learn chemistry on your own- her lectures are sometimes useless and she has whacky, old-fashioned ways of teaching modern chemistry. Her class avg on tests is always an F.
Go to class, her quiz questions comes from lecture notes,go to supplemental class bc she doesn't teach some concepts that you need to know to fully understand concepts/her notes. She covers the class average when she posts grades...it doesn't surprise me.
Ok she isn't thattt hard. All you have to do is go to class and pay attention to her lecture. The quizzes and tests are exactly like the lecture notes and if you go to her for help she is pretty nice. I've gotten a's on all the tests so just pay attention and study
This class is pretty hard! She doesn't really explain the material well, so you're gonna have to learn on your own. Study as much as you can and get tutored! Class isn't mandatory, but she puts things on tests/quizzes that aren't in the book. If this isn't required for your major, please don't take it. And remember, this isn't chem from high school
Not hard at all if you stay awake and go to class. And she teaches it well with the exact info for the exams and quizzes. the tutoring is kinda useless, it didn't help me at all. the final is optional too. i have a high A
She's crazy!! I had an awful time in this class. I studied for hours on end and still struggled for a C. I do not recommend this class at ALL! If you HAVE to take it, then be sure to do all the reading, go to ALL classes, and do all the homework. The only grades are quizzes and exams... study hard. Avoid if possible!
She is awful! VERY hard. I attended every class and took careful notes, studied from them, and still failed tests. Go to lectures, take notes, read the book, and DO PRACTICE PROBLEMS!! The TA's tutoring sessions are useless, he was always confused and just made matters worse. I had to drop this class, retaking it next semester.
hard class, but face it chem is just hard!! study a lot, do the practice problems and pay attention in lecture bcuz she bases her tests on the notes..p.s pay attention to the experiments she does in class!!
very intelligent, although her quizzes can be ruthless. enjoyed analytical lab and the techniques she taught us. those taking lower chem classes ought not to criticize her character because they true understanding of chem and the analytical persona that tends to accompany it.
interesting teacher. There was a bit of confusion between her notes and the book but she made class interesting. Definately read the book and take good notes. Get the packets for all the chapters and DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS. The study reviews=horrible b/c the TA made everything harder than it needed to be. Just study a lot and you will be fine
Her class is tough but as long as you go to lectures and pay attention as well as read the chapter you'll do fine. She is hilarious!
If you are looking to make an A in this class, you might as well drop it. I would say that CHM2045 is easier then this. It covers three different types of chemistries and she is a horrible teacher. You have to teach yourself everything! If you are required to take this course, just make sure you STUDY ALOT!!
Horrible undergraduate advisor! DO NOT GO SEE HER, she turned me away saying it was not her job to put students into classes. i hope she doesnt teach like she advises
She wasn't very helpful at all. She wouldn't help you during her office hours and she would not answer questions in class. And if she did happen to answer your question it was with a very aggressive and mean attitude like you where supposed to know everything about chemistry. If you aren't required to take it, take CHM2045.I had to teach myself
3120L, While she is not the most pleasant woman, the lab itself is extremely helpful and generally the TAs, statistically, are nicer than she is. She is no longer directing the lab I believe, and thus somewhat of a moot point, but overall the lab directions were clear and easy to follow.
Study the notes, book, and homework! Test and quiz questions are really specific and her notes are not very helpful!! Unlike CHM1030, tests are no longer scantron. She will roll her eyes and make you feel dumb if you ask a question during class. You must teach yourself by reading and doing homework! Luckily an 85% is an A.
The lab periods were actually much shorter than the 6 hours alotted. Prepare to write a lab report almost every week. Dr. Williams only grades the first one and the pKa reports.
very difficult teacher. had for chm1030 and 1031 is two steps up. read book and go to class for notes. also go to office hrs. she will remember your name n possibly help out when grading. just dont take this class lightly, it is hard work.
This class was VERY hard. you have to attend class and you should attend her office hours. If you go to her often she tends to soften up to you. CHM 1030 was murder and CHM 1031 is much easier, but still a tough class
Excellent prof. often unfairly criticized for her up front manner I never left thinking she had nothing but the best of intentions.
Lab requires lots of outside work, but Dr. Williams is helpful and actually cares about her students once you get to know her a little. Lab lectures (given by her) are very clear.
She is really an awful teacher. She grades on tests quizzes and then a final. Tests were insanely hard as I went to tutoring at tutoring zone and then a bio chemist back home and it still didn't help. Her problems are worded so they are hard to understand. I had never failed a class until her for chem 2.
Trust me, do not take this woman. I understood the material and still failed the tricky and ambiguously worded tests. She won't help you at all, and is completely neurotic. Constantly makes references to organic chemistry, I wonder why she isn't teaching that instead? Oh, that's right, it's because she's a failure and likes to see students fail.
Terrible, don't take her. She won't help you at all and her tests are meant to trick you. Awful experience.
Her exams are tough and there isn't room for a bad test day, but if you go to class and take good notes, do all the problems she assigns, and study intensely before an exam, you will do great. Remember she doesn't drop your worst, I got a B on the 1st exam and perfect scores on the 3rd and final, but got an A- in the class because of a bad day.
Professor Williams was an excellent professor, her test come from the homework she assigns, book and mainly class notes. Definetely one of the best professors I have had. Highly recommend it.
The only reason people don't like her class this semester is because there are in-class quizzes. But, if you do the homework it is really easy. She is extremely clear and very helpful with her lectures, discussion and test preparation. I would recommend her to anyone taking this class! She is also occasionally funny too :)
Her lectures are chaotic and hard to understand. Her quizzes are in class (as opposed to the other classes which are online) and are meant to trick you. Knowing the general chemistry is not enough to pass her class, you NEED to know all the exceptions. This class is definitely a weed out, do yourself a favor and take any of the other professors.
Awful. Avoid at ALL COSTS. Cant stress this enough. Believe me, I would know. This person is a life ruiner...
Most of my time this summer was dedicated to chemistry. I wrote detailed outlines of each chapter, did practice exams, and practice test but her class was rough. She changed the syllabus a million times right before exams. I watched several intelligent people slowly drop this course. I, being one of them. She makes her own tests over the summer.
Most of the people I knew in the class ended up dropping by the end of the summer. The exams are nothing like any previous exams she posts, her quizzes were not from the practice problems in the text but rather the tricky stuff she did an overview of in lecture. Nice enough lady! But I would never recommend her for this class.
Boy oh boy, this class is rough. Holding on, need to give 100 % of yourself to do well.
Nice lady but her tests are ridiculous, definitely hit up Study Edge, Rich (the tutor) makes it so much easier!
She is unclear in lectures and she does a great job at tricking you on the exams. I wish I had read these reviews sooner because I would have dropped the class.
If you can, get Dr. Mitchell since he makes the tests. Dr. Williams isn't a very good instructor and her discussion class is mandatory because the quizzes aren't online. Avoid her.
Face it what ever teacher you get for Chem2045 the class will be difficult. All teachers give the same exam. However, I went to other teachers lectures, because she is hard to understand and her lectures are all over the place. She also gives in class quizzes making her class even harder!!
She is very rude and expects all her students to understand everything while her teaching is somewhat boring. She can be sarcastic and harsh when asking for help. The quizzes are given in discussion and she has even admitted that they are harder than the online hw. However my TA was good. Avoid her if at all possible!
She is a very bad teacher. Her class wouldn't be as challenging if she made the material clear and didn't quiz us on things we were unprepared for. All CHM2045 students take the same test written by Mitchell. she goes off on tangents during class a lot and is rude when you ask for help. My TA wasn't very good either so i had to teach myself.
Her quizzes are pretty hard which makes you study more for the tests. Gives extra points on quizzes to boost your grade. Her lectures help understand concepts, however, do not prepare you for tests. However, the tests are very similar to tests from previous years. So if you master these, the tests are pretty easy.
She knows what she's talking about, but her class is difficult. She's one of the few professors with quizzes in discussion class instead of online--not helpful if you just want to get the class over with with a good grade. She's tough, and with a strong personality. Avoid her if you want to save your GPA…If you want a challenge--take her.
Avoid. She knows chemistry, but that does not mean that she knows the best way to teach it. She has difficult in-class quizzes vs. the other teachers who give them online. Online homework is required unlike other teachers. She touches on chemistry history a lot that is unnecessary. Tests are the same as other professors.
Dr. Williams is a knowledgable, experienced professor who also possesses empathy and passion towards he'd students & chem. Her class IS difficult but only because the material is difficult & much effort must be applied if one wants to learn the subject thoroughly. She is a little quirky but will definitely help if asked. I highly recommend her.
Dr. Williams was awesome. I worked myself stupid in this class, but I got an A. If you aren't sincere, then you should look for someone else. That's the same thing with anything you do in life anyway though. Take her if you want to learn something that will help you for your whole career and not just get a letter on your transcript.
She's the worst professor I've ever had. Unfair grader. Puts every chemistry exception rule into her exams. In class quizzes are just as tough. The class with 500 students. By the time of the final, less than 100 students were still in the class. Worst of ALL Time. She's HOT though
I agree that she's tough, but her class will force you to learn chemistry. I would avoid taking her, she can be very uncaring and mean to students. Don't think she'll ever sympathize w/ you. Take an easier teacher and do most of the back of the book problems for the chapters, you'll learn chemistry.
Dr. Williams is a heavy lecturer, with content that does not reflect on the exams. For our final, she graded it with an average of 45.1, and a high of 70, and immediately submitted it to transcripts for processing without curving or acknowledging that the entire class did poorly because of her. The entire class dropped a letter grade. Awful.
