summary of course- juveniles are victims and shouldn't be held responsible. grading is completely irrational, but you'll get an A. easy credit, don't learn a thing.

Alot of information to learn, but she really shook things up. Went to the Jail and had guest lectures...funny and really helpful. Funny too...she remembers peoples names

Kathy was very passionate about her teaching and her job but her class was extremely boring, i never paid attention and normally read a book while the class went on. It was 3 hours of torture but the exams were easy and there was never really any homework so i recommend this class.

Kathy is the bomb. Passionate and interesting prof, doesn't just lecture, gives real life examples because she worked in the field. It was her first time to teach the class and I thought she did a great job. Jail tour was the best. Put alot of effort in making us involved. You rock Kathy!!

It was her first time teaching the 101 class and she did awesome! She made the class a lot of fun and worth going to. She didn't just lecture she helped us learn by actually experiencing it (trip to the jail). She is an awesome lady who knows what she is talking about. She is funny with many stories

Tests were very long and detailed but not hard if you listen in class and did the readings. Tells good stories about time in the field and worth taking. Believes heavily in her theory. Should encourage others to find their own theiroies rather than just accept hers, though.

Very passionate about what she teaches. Personal stories make the class very interesting. It is not a very challenging class, but you will still learn a great deal if this subject is new to you.

Bailey is TRULY THE BEST PROFESSOR AT GVSU! Her class is easy, but u learn sooo much. With her classes I felt prepared to go out and perform my job successfully. She's not into tricking u, she really wants u to learn and go out into the field as an ethical person. Her passion for students makes u not want to miss class, though attendance is taken

Take Bailey for whatever class you can, she ROCKS. Makes you think, not just gives information. Good humor, tests are okay, get her help on the paper and you will do fine, DON"T USE CONTRACTIONS, she will remember your name. She is what a professor should be, someone who is approachable and wants you to learn, not just memorize. She likes students.

Prof. Bailey is an awesome teacher! She has so much enthusiasm for what she does, she is truly an inspiration for anyone going into the helping profession (especially working with juveniles). I took her for CJ 420 and liked her so much that I signed up for CJ 350 and 495 with her as well!

Kathy is awesome. She has a world of experience with kids, has great stories, and is hilarious when she tells them. She is kind of scatter-brained and I found it difficult to follow her topics, but she is very knowledgeable. Exams are ridiculously easy because she gives you all of the questions beforehand.

Great Prof! a lot of passion in her classes. Tests are easy, just make sure you know the chapter review sheets on BB! many questions off of those, but there are a lot of points and itd be hard not to get a B if you showed up.

One of the best professors I have had at GVSU. Mandatory attendance policy and juvenile detention tour. 6 journals that are easy and you must attend a hearing or interview someone in the CJ field. Had chapter reviews for each chapter that was the exact question you would see on the exam. If you read the chapters and do the review it should be easy.

By far one of the best professors I've had at GV. She is extremely helpful and puts herself out there to help students with whatever they need whenever they need it. Is very receptive to suggestions. Goes over the tests with you the class before the exam- very helpful. Mandatory attendance, but you will want to go. She's awesome.

Actually liked this class, I thought Dr. Bailey challenged us like we should be in a graduate class. We did a service learning project and it was work. She spent more time than any of us working on this class, always willing to help...She would NEVER call anyone silly. There were a couple of lazy people in the class & at least one liar

Best professor ever! takes pride in her work, good stories that relate to material, will keep you entertained, gives feedback, sent me an email telling me how good my journal entries were and how much she can relate to them, study guides match tests...just do them and memorize and youll be good!

Dr. Bailey is by far the best prof I have had at GVSU! She is so caring when it comes to her students and she does everything she can possibly do to help you succeed! She is so funny and tells the most interesting stories. Tests are easy if you study, there are 4 and you have to write 6 journal entries which are subjective so they are easy!

Kathy is the best professor at Grand Valley. She challeges your learning while keeping class interesting and fun. She is also extremely understanding. There are 4 exams and journals. I think this class is really easy. TAKE THIS CLASS WITH THIS PROF!

She is so inspirational, caring, real and knowledgeable. You learn about the field and about yourself. Classes are mandatory but you will want to be there. After a 3 hour class I still didn't want to leave. Tests are easy if you study, she focuses on the important info. no tricks. take her. worth your money hands down

This instructor is very passionate about any topic that comes to juveniles. She is prior intense probation officer. The class is very interesting. Her test are not that bad as long as you read the assign text. Do not choose the past phase class it will stress you out.

I absolutely love professor Bailey. She is fun and so intelligent. Lectures are far from boring. I hope to have the opportunity to her again. She clearly communicates her expectations. She has so much knowledge and experience to share, and does a great job doing so.

Dr. Bailey is by far the best prof I've had at GV. She cares so much about the class and she lets you know that each class. She has so much knowledge about the topic and its obvious when she is teaching. I would 100% take her again!! She's the best!

Dr. Bailey is the hilarious! This class however was exceptionally hard. You are only graded on 6 things. She uses a lot of past experience in her lectures and goes off on a tangent easily. Her power points aren't clear, they are choppy & hard to understand, but if you want a class where you will laugh a lot, take the Department Head, Dr. Bailey!

Dr. Bailey is so far my favorite professor. Even if you're not going into juvenile justice, she really inspires you to care more about that population. Exams are okay, but you do have to write a lot. So if you actually study, you should enjoy your time with her and get a good grade! Do purchase the small book, as she asks questions from there.

I was sad when her class was over; I thoroughly enjoyed her lectures and loved her as a person. The journals were kind of annoying and very personal, but I would take her again in a heartbeat

I took Dr. Bailey for weekend class in CJ 420. She has an incredible amount of knowledge in the field and tells good stories. She is one of the kindest and fairest people you want to meet so long as you are honest with her about things. The first exam was difficult but she took feedback from students on it and changed up the format. Excellent prof.

If you are interested in CJ or something related, it'll be your loss if you graduate without ever taking a class with Kathy. I have taken 2 classes with her. My capstone and CJ 420. Both were great experiences.

Dr. Bailey is honestly the most amazing professor ever! I had the privilege of taking both of the two classes she teaches and would take every single class with her if possible. CJ420 was awesome; CJ 495 was only a 6week class so it was very compact but she does her best to make all of the work manageable. Don't pass up an opportunity to take her!!

Kathy is incredible! Her lecture days could be slightly unorganized, but she posts the power points online. Not many assignments, just a couple tests and short journal assignments. Lots of opportunity for extra credit. She is so understanding, flexible, and forgiving, and truly cares about her students and wants to help. Definitely take her!

She grades really fairly and does not make this class as stressful as it seems it would be. She loves to get to know her students so reach out, she is a very nice and knowledgeable person!

Best professor I've ever taken at gv. She was so understanding about everything. You can really tell she has experience about what she teaches, her own personal stories she tells during class were amazing. I feel like I learned so much that I would have never learned without her. Take her before she retires, you won't regret it.

It was a pleasure to take CJ101 asynchronous with her. Clear Blackboard setup, grades were in in a timely manner, gave constructive feedback if needed but also positive feedback when justified, and I learned a lot from the material that was given. I would def recommend taking her and I would do it again!
