Not very friendly and rude to people she doesn't like. Will not work with you on x-tra credit. Unless you are failing.
Instructor is so condescending to students, and non-students alike. She believes that she knows more than any other human being. She has absolutely no Social skills. She has no business teaching Social Psychology.
She expects the students to put some effort into it. Whoa! What a strange concept! She was always helpful with me (maybe because I always did above 100 on her tests)

A nice woman, but condescending in an unconscious way- believes that TVI students do not really want to be challenged... maybe that's true, but let them fail if they don't get it. Therefore, boring class in which we read the book together... horrible.
Is helpful in class. Explains material to where the students understand.
this lady told me that it would be better for me to give up than try to pass. I could never understand her lectures, and it seemed like her tests had nothing to do with her lectures.

I believe people that treat others in condescending ways have many issues of their own that need to be dealt with. She should treat others as she would want to be treated! As for reading the book aloud in class. We aren't in kindergarten! Get creative...
Her online lectures were incredibly dull. She spoke so quickly that it was impossible to take any cohesive notes. I would not recommend this instructor to anyone interested in psychology.
On the first day of class she explained the most people do not pass the online course. Great welcome to online education! She also requests feedback the is never used.
she explains herself up front..her online lectures tell you everything you need to know for the exams. gives extra credit opportunities...good if you can be self-paced.
She never helps you when asked for it. She just tells you no. Highly NOT recommended.

CONFUSING
Great professor for distance learning! Make absolutley sure you listen to her audio files they really help!!
She's absolutely wonderful. I enjoyed to course a lot.
I thought she was excellent. She helped students in class with anything they needed help with, and was very clear about all the concepts and ideas she would test us on. I would definitely recommend taking her for any Psychology class.

very thorough
This class is horrible. The course supposably has audio lectures but they arent on the WebCT page. She sent an email to figure extra credit into our grade but I never recieved instructions for any extra credit assignments. I have no problem working hard for my classes but I do not like teachers who are condescending.
The online class was straigt-forward. Read the book, listen to the lectures, take the T/F quizzes...no worries! Dr. D was prompt with responses to questions; couldn't ask for more!
Dr. D was really helpful. She was always willing to answer questions and even offered to talk on the phone if email wouldn't help. All of the lectures, extra credit info, and class info was easily accessible. I would definitely take a class with her again.
Condescending and rude. 500 flash cards got only 1.5 points of extra credit. Her online lectures were her reading from the book. Allowed relatively short and inconsistent window for taking online exams. Criticized and lectured for 1/2 hour prior to final exam. Automatically failed students who got less than 65% on final. Not recommended.
Dr.D doesn't say sorry when she messes up,everything you need to know is on the sylibus(extra credit, schedule etc., she tells you to ask questions but doesn't give good answers.Thinks she's teaching a masters class, not an intro class. Comes across like she's better than everyone, even for on-line.Do everything and youll pass.not recommend on-line
She was terrible. I have never had a teacher so disorganized on Distance Learning. I would ask why i got a specific question wrong and she wouldn't tell me where it was stated in the text book the way she claimed was the right answer. I do not recommend her online. She teaches the class at a higher level than what you are taking.
Great teacher! READ THE SYLLUBUS! I'm was 38 yo when I took her online PSY class, 1st class since HS. I was amazed at so many students that didn't even read the syllubus. If you have problems in her class then you aren't willing to read and study. There are no hoops to jump thru when taking this class. READ THE SYLLUBUS and the assigned material.
HORRIBLE! Took the DL class. All of her "lectures" are her reading the material from the book. She tells you the wrong lecture number to listen to for the lessons. I emailed her about a question and she was not helpful at all, in fact she was condesending. Would not recommend her for online classes.
Great instructor! very helpful and responds fast too emails. wants students to succeed.
Great teacher. If you attend class and read the syllabus ahead of time, make sure your prepared for each class. Her classes are always interesting. she responds to emails quickly every time. She is very helpful.
This course was harder than it should've been. The extra credit isn't worth the time for so few points. Beware of the audio lectures. She is reading her notes...and she reads poorly.
Good Teacher! Dr. D knows what she is talking about. If you make a mistake on a test when turning it in, she will help you out so you an correct it. Likes to talk about things she finds important, and everyone is free to give their opinion. Her class is average easy and not so boring. I recommend her!
Go to class, do the work and you'll get the grade. If you play the game by the rules you'll really like her!
One of the worst teachers I've ever had in my life!! I'm pretty easy-going but I couldn't stand being in her class! 99% of what we talked about was irrelevant to psych, basically her on a soap box. Literally, THE most useless, waste of time class EVER. Unfortunately she's the only teacher that teaches certain psych classes.
Didn't care for this professor at all. She made the class boring and always had a bad attitude.
This is my first semester and took this class online. I was not impressed with her in anyway. Not very helpfull and very disorganized.I was hoping my opinion would change when I met her for my final and NOTHING changed It was difficult to listen to her lectures she constantly had to correct herself. I would not recommend her to anyone.
Great teacher! Knows her stuff. She may be gruff to some people but those are usually the ones that are not trying. She gives a lot of opportunity for extra credit. I especially liked how the essay part of our tests were our topic choice and we did them at home. I would just reword my notes which helped me to learn the information anyway.
Would not recommend her. She was difficult to work with and rather disorganized.
Take Into To Psych with someone else. Before taking the final (she requires that you take it on campus with her), she scolded a lot of students for various reasons and talked down to the class including reminding us over and over that you have to get a 65% on the final to pass the class. Seems also to be a bit of a control freak.
she does not teach or now i think know brain or behavior. she is also very rude to students. she was wrong as text said and when i show her, she got mad at me. very rude person.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
AVOID AT ALL COST!
This is the second class that I took from Dr. D. and probably not the last. She gives you ample opportunity to receive extra PERCENTAGE points towards your final grade. She also gives study guides that contain about half or more of the questions for the tests. Pay attention and there is no way you won't do well and learn something. Love her!!!!
TOOK HER FOR B&B LOVED HER BUT DO NOT TAKE HER FOR STATS! she made a lot of us cry on our first test because she understands it so well that she can imagine you not understanding it lost all respect for her after taking stats! failed her class but got a B with a new teacher
I absolutely love her class. This is my second semester having her and she is awesome. Her class is so easy all you really have to do is pay attention. I have never read a single chapter for both semesters, heck I barely cracked open the books other than to do vocab and I am doing extremely well. If you don't pass her class then you're not trying.
Stay away if possible. If you are taking this class to learn and pass, you have a better chance in a 400 level class.
Honestly, she is one of the best professors I've ever had. She gives you study guides, practice tests, and need to knows. She also covers material well in the lectures. If you know your vocab and study what she tells you there's no reason not to pass. I had her for brain and behavior, stats, ans social psych. Dr. D is a great professor :)
poor teacher. poor lecture. avoid avoid avoid. suggest her to your enemies.
I took psych 1105 online with Katherine this summer and as long as you listen to her lectures and do the learning and reading goals for each chapter and study them you will defiantly pass. She emails back super fast and always willing to help. This class does require you to work so be ready.
Very difficult teacher to work with - was rude and rather standoffish. Online lectures were terrible and she was a bit disorganized with the class in general. Take this course with someone else.
I took Dr. D's Intro to Psych class online and it was an easy class to take. She allows you to retake quizzes which allow you to get maximum points. Her exams come from both the text and her lectures. I found her lectures more helpful than the text in explaining concepts. The majority of the final questions were from past exams.
This class was rather difficult because you had to read a chapter and do an assignment each week. Dr. D was there to help you if needed it. You must have the book or you won't pass. There are audio lectures that you are recommended to listen to because they can help you understand the material better.
Dr. D knows her stuff and offers her help to anyone that asks. It may not be what you were looking for but help none the less. I probably will not take another class with her due to personal preference. It's a matter of studying the material and a bit of strategic planning. *You have to pass the final with a certain grade to pass.
She's pretty clear about expectations. Two attempts per quiz makes taking the quizzes really simple. Make sure you have a printer to print quizzes, she will even recommend it. She's a solid teacher. I enjoyed the class.
I always felt respected and safe to get clarification. She offers audio lectures in her online course ALWAYS take advantage of this tool. They were extremely helpful on tests/quizzes. My only criticism was having questions that were based off tiny figure descriptions, specific to only that figure and not necessarily the brunt of text under it.
Dr. D is a great instructor
I took the online class and if you do online you have to be ready to put in the work from home! She stayed in contact with the class, was clear on dates and deadlines, was clear on what she expected from the class. The lectures helped but all the answers aren't there you have to read your book. Good class no surprises.
Don't be intimidated by her course description that is typed mostly in CAPS and with the word 'REMEMBER' used in almost every sentence. Her course is not intimidating at all and she gives you reminders for everything along the way. She is very organized, answers your questions promptly and I loved listening to her lectures as she is quite funny.
I LOVE Dr. Demitraikis. I had her last semester for social psych and again this semester for brain & behavior. Super knowledgeable, very fun, and a complete sweetheart. She is easily one of my favorite professors. Do the summary essays well, they will help you so much on exams. Turn them in ON TIME and receive a grade point of extra credit.
i took this class because i thought it would be an easy a since it is an introductorly level class but it ended up being a lot of work you have to listen to the online lectures and read ALOT nothing is on quizlet either, like other professors
Lots of reading. All homework and tests are multiple choice. As long as you read the book, and take the assessments you'll be fine. Was excited to take this class but it is very boring and monotonous. Kathy is polite over email, don't know why everyone says she comes across as rude. Sends out reminders for all work. Gives 2 attempts.
Dr. D taught by displaying an outline and explaining the points. Her class was only graded by tests and up to four extra credit points. Reading was important to do well on the tests. Sometimes she was finicky and emotional when talking about certain issues. Overall, she was kind, interesting and knowledgeable.
Very disorganized. Instead of the learning modules containing the lectures and slideshows for that week, you would have to search in additional materials tab. There was no list of assignments due. No set day for assignments being due. Very inconvenient when taking multiple classes. It seems like the teacher is new at structuring an online class.
Luckily when I took this class I had already taken an Intro to Psych class and new most of the info. There are 4 exams and a final exam with 100 questions. Not to mention almost all the hw is quizzes. If you dont know a lot about Psych then you might have a hard time. She also doesnt take any late work. A very nice lady though.
This professor is really wonderful and I enjoyed the topics I learned about in class. The only thing is that she often goes on political rants in class but she tries to keep them related to the topic or section, and she does her best to not offend anyone with these talks. Still she is a great professor and I will be taking her again next semester.
In all my time here at CNM I have never had such issues with a professor. Kathy can be extremely rude and disrespectful to her students and in a way degrades them. I along with many others in her class had issues and tension with her. Shes extremely opinionated and doesnt like it when people challenge her or question her period.
Dr. D is a teacher I have taken in the past for Social Psych and she was the only professor i knew teaching the Statistics for Psych class. She can be a little be much at times but she does care about her students. When she shows visible frustration it's because she is passionate about her work and wants students to succeed. Would take prof again.
I am taking her class in Statistical in Psychology and I would not take her as your teacher for teaching this subject. She only grades you on 4 exams and the final exam, extra credit only worth 3 points. Tough grader, almost everyone in my class is failing. She is very unorganized. When you ask a question she makes you feel dumb for asking.
She is really disorganized. She doesnt know how to talk with students. She makes you feel dumb when ask anything. I will never recommend this teacher to others. Shes not understanding. Looks like shes learning how to teach. I wont take this class again. God bless other students.
I'm not being overdramatic as a passed this class. Please don't take her for statistics in psychology. There isn't enough characters to emphasize this. I felt like I was teaching myself, very few class examples, only grades on tests, can come of as condescending. There were days that I may as well have not gone and just read the book. Dreadful....
Lots of inattention to examples, prepare to study outside of class constantly. Just rough.
Lessons were all over the place. crazy amounts of reading (think 2-3 classes worth) at least once a week. pray you don't have an emergency while testing... stops responding when logic is given. lectures... very unorganized and constantly contradicting or having to rephrase answers. EC was given once but wasn't received until after due date. avoid!
Not a good professor at all. I took an online class, and the site was VERY hard to navigate. Unhelpful with questions; manages to avoid your initial question and makes you feel daft for asking. She typed most things in CAPS and it felt like I was being yelled at the entire time. I managed to pass with an A grade, but I have no idea how. Just bad.
I took the Introduction to Psychology class with Professor Demitrakis. Overall it was not a difficult class, but there was a lot of reading involved. The quizzes had multiple attempts and the exams were also not that difficult, if you listen to her lectures. It is very important to take good notes so that you are ready for the exams and final.
Worst teacher I ever had. She does not give any feedback. Her class does not have a clear grading criteria at all. I am absolutely upset with her. I've always had all A's and in this class I barely passed. The grade online does not reflect the grade you have in the class. You actually have a lower grade. There is so much more I could say about her
All my time at CNM I never had a problem with any of the professors. It was to the point where she once even Apologized that "I didn't understand the work" when I asked for guidance. Avoid her class as much as you can, I have never hated a dreaded a class more.
Lectures are 4 years old the teacher doesn't use all available resources to help prepare students. Lazy teacher lacks conviction passing this class is 100% at your discretion don't expect help expect to jump around and teach yourself expect to fail quizzes the first time just to figure out what's relevant for you to learn. Reporting to board of edu
Worst teacher at cnm. Currently in a group of 10 students submitting formal complaints to the new Mexico education board. Avoid
I'm in a real time online course with Dr. D. She rambles so much that they are completely uninformative and a total waste of time, but you have to be present and engaged. She frequently goes on long tangents that are not related to class, and gets interrupted by her barking dogs a lot. Absolutely the worst professor I have ever had.
Dr. D is the worst professor I have ever encountered. She takes a strong anti-student stance in her syllabus including not accommodating illness or employment. Lectures are interrupted by her dogs barking. I reported her to the dean of students because of her conduct and I recommend other students who have had similar experiences do the same.
I took Dr. D. for stats for psych and brain and behavior. Both were real time online so attendance is required. Not super heavy on homework. Stats for Psych was harder on the tests due to terminology. The math was easy only if you understood the sequential order of the problem along with the terminology. I was pretty surprised at the reviews.
This material was very interesting for the way she taught this class. We had discussion boards, and every Monday a meeting of an hour. and quizzes every week. Our final was very hard i got a 82 percent and still got a D in that class i missed a quiz and i didn't attend 2 meetings i do not recommend. she is very uninterested.
Katharine was a completely awful professor. She lets everyone know on the first day that she is not accommodating. She rambles a lot so its hard to focus on the actual content. She moves very fast through lessons and for her written exams she expects you to write everything out and upload it in a "reasonable" time but does not give enough time.
Course was unorganized and lazy overall. Lectures made no sense, and she expected us to get 100 on the exam material that she barely covered. She told the class to buy the wrong textbook and then got upset when the class didn't have the correct book. Had to return the one I bought and scramble to find the correct one. Overall, not a good class.
I took her Psyc1110 class online and was it was very clear how she grades. She was very tough and not that understanding but she warned us about that day 1. I never had to join a zoom and only took tests and quizzes online. She did have the wrong book but as luck would have it I got the right one anyways. I passed with an A. READ THE TEXTBOOKS!
She teaches this class like its a graduate level course. She drives home that she will not accommodate anyone being late for any reason and is eager to give zero credit; not surprising since she is lazy and basically expects you to learn on your own. She stresses this is not self-paced. Funny because, for all intents & purposes, it is self-taught.
She was not sensitive when I brought up that I had a disability. I felt humiliated in front of the entire class and she said she hadn't received any accommodations and basically asked why I was even asking and if I had like an appointment on that day. Like it was just a question because I was in the process of getting a 504 plan in place.
I ended with an A, however there was absolutely no feedback. All assignments for a unit are due on the same date, but then she will release more work right before that date, so don't slack off. you couldn't pay me to take one of her courses again. it seems like she uses fear to "encourage" and stress students out. I personally don't vibe with that.
