Tough on papers, easy on exams, lectures are great b.c. shares own clinical exp.
She's the nicest lady ever!!!
Lectures made interesting with shared personal experiences
very judgemental

Lectures from a variety of sources. Well prepared, kind, and knows the material
She is one of the best professors I have ever had.

The coursework has been challenging and I find her to be a very good instructor.
excellent prof, absolutely gorgeous!

Such a good prof! Hope to have her again next year!!
great class

awesome class, wish it was full year, nice prof
Horrible
This is the best teacher I ever had, she's friendly, nice and openminded.
What a wonderful person!!
Very frazzled...
a wonderful woman. very helpful and soooo sweet. a great prof!!
Very nice, helpful, great class!!
this lady needs help. how she got to be a prof makes this uni. a joke! BAD PROF!

Great, excellent, and scrum-diddly-umptions
Did not seem to know the material. Exams taken from textbook quizzes= easy A
Interesting, tells good stories, but a little flakey ...

Good Prof, But answers every question with. I dunno..What does the class think&#
If she tried a little bit more she could be damn hot. Other then that, he life stories are messed, but she likes to make sure the students know what she is talking about.
Bad, bad prof. Very disorganized, flaky and technologically inept!! Course with her is easy, and tests are a joke, but the class lectures are painful to sit through. Avoid her.
Very nice prof. She's pretty easy and tells great stories to help you learn the material.
Very helpful. Genuinely cares about her students. One of the best profs at this university!
(This was taught at Waterloo). EASY class, nice woman. Seems unsure of herself sometimes. Good stories.
A fantastic educator, her life experience in psychology puts her far and above the other profs. She is different and is trully motivated to help students.
She seems to be a little spacey and forgetful at times. But, she's really nice and up-beat!
A bit scatter-brained, but laid back and student friendly.
Totally approachable, clear approach to class instruction, fair to a fault, love her classes! Note: Students lax in their studies tend to rate her as critical, totally untrue, theyr'e lazy and looking for the easy way out! Talk to her, ask her for help,

She is helpful and personable. She also aides in educating students on careers in psychology that are more geared towards counseling and social work--not merely reasearch! However, I second the vote to get her on What Not to Wear!
Very friendly and approachable. Gives a little too much detail on theorists' childhoods (who cares!) and not enough on the acutal theory
She really knows her stuff. She can be a little absent minded- but once she gets going she's really interesting. I enjoyed her classes the most, and encourage you to take her classes. Your learn a lot more than just theory.
She is extremely fair and a great prof. Even though she may come across as a little spacey or different, it really suits her personality. She is extremely understanding. She is a prof who shows great concern for her students inside and outside of the classroom and that is a prof with quality!
I think she needs a break...as in a holiday. All scholastics no real life experience. Bends too easy for the babies and the whiners. Way too judgemental.
Very nice person, knows what she is talking about but her lectures are an abortion clinic of ideas. They are not structured at all, she jumps from idea to idea making it very hard to follow and take notes. Doesn't seem very prepaired.
My favorite class thus far, lots of real world/clinical examples and applications of theory from the text. She can be a little eccentric, but, aren't all profs? My only complaint would be the overly large class size, but thats not her fault, the class would've been even better in a more intimate setting.
Teaches the same material in every class she teaches despite the fact that it is a different course. Is in love with Freud. Cannot work a microphone. Boring. Does not make class in any way interesting. Tests are vague and confusing. 0/10
Very judgemental, her lectures are boring, she's unorganized, her exams are vague.
Wow! I have never been so confused in my life!!! Her lectures actually contradict the text! She could never get the overhead computer working, and was never prepared. She jumps around topics way too much, and with no lecture notes, you cannot follow what she is saying.
Nice person, but kinda disorganized. Doesn't seem really prepared for lectures. Very jumpy in topics. Focuses a lot on some things that seem useless and ignores pertinent data. She is good at using lots of examples to help clarify things, however she makes most of them up and claims them to be real, or happen to friends. Don't lie to us please.
This class was a complete disappointment. She was much better last year when I took gender. She seemed completely disorganized and stressed out. It was too bad.
Terrible. She should not be instructing. Atleast tell us not to read the book because it was useless.
unfair grading & stupidest exam questions ever!
Needs practice making up multiple choice questions
She's a pretty understanding prof. Gave me an extention on my Abnormal Psychology essay without a lot of fuss. Her exam questions are ridiculous! Extremely hard and very out of the blue.
At first, I thought Professor Foxall was inexperienced at teaching because she seemed so disorganized and unprepared. I was surprised and dismayed to find she teaches other Psych courses as well. She produces extensive, nonsensical PPT slides and tests that are not indicative of our learning. She manages to make Abnormal Psych frustrating & boring.
I was really excited for this course, until i got to the class and noticed how hard it was to follow her tangents. Her slides are useless, and although shes nice i could only sit through four classes before dropping it- dont even try and take it.
She was one of the worst profs I've ever had. I was so excited to take this class and she completely ruined it. We only got through about 8 of 18 chapters. She talked about all her time working at hospitals but most of this was useless and not relevant to the tests. Take this class with any other prof.
I thought she was an excellent prof, very nice and interesting. I got an A without taking notes. As long as you study out of the textbook for the chapters covered on midterm you will do well.
Nice lady who seems to know her stuff. Has quiet the back story if you get a chance to hear it from someone. Will help you out but definitely does not have strong lectures.
One of the most boring profs ever. Talks very quietly too.
Can be a little spacey, but really funny. Really wants to help her students, but make sure you study for exams.
She is a really nice lady and enjoys teaching! I got a great mark in her class and i didnt go to the classes most often.... You need to read her slides as she uses a lot of info from her slides on the mid/exams. She is a nice lady though she can ramble off at something random but its funny.
It takes her an incredibly long time to get through slides due to her confusing inconsistent examples which hardly tie into course material. Important information often gets lost or bypassed by her inability to effectively explain things. Realizing she took so long going through slides she skips over things. Also, she over shares personal examples.
Good prof! You'll do super well on the exams if you go to class and type notes along with the powerpoints. She's funny and super nice, and a good and fair marker!
Prior to attending Foxall's classes, I saw people on here saying how she's disorganized and her slides are incoherent. I found that she was a very kind professor who cares greatly about her students. She's very approachable, her slides are almost all straight out of the textbook, and she gives good examples. Attend lectures and read the text = A.
Great professor who is willing to help and clarify things. You have to go to class as she talks very quickly and mentions things not in the textbook which she is likely to test you on. Very nice person and made personality psych very interesting.
Kathy is a nice, EXTREMELY approachable woman. Attend her lectures, take notes and listen. she is a nice funny person who is always willing to help. Her testing is strictly based on her lectures and her testing is extremely easy!
Had her for PS381 (Clinical Psychology) and I found her to be a really good prof. She genuinely cares about her students and uses a lot of real world examples to help explain the material. Her multiple choice questions were a bit frustrating though.. unclear and random. It's easy to get a B in the class, but a tricky A. Overall, a good professor!
I have now had Ms. Foxall 3 times, and am going onto my fourth. I can easily say she is the reason I chose to major in psychology. She explains concepts very well and gives a lot of real world examples, through her own personal experiences, that make concepts especially easy to grasp. My favourite prof by far!
Much better as a third year prof. I took her 1st and 2nd year and she was too quietkinda boring. She talks about her experiences a lot and elaborates on course material more which makes it more interesting. Sometimes expectations are unclear though.
I had Foxall for PS102 in-class and PS280 online. Personally, I do not like the way she lectures - she does not come across as a confident speaker, and that made it hard for me to enjoy the lectures. PS280 online requires a lot of reading and a term paper. The tests are all MC but are hard if you don't do all of the readings. She was a fair marker.
Lectures are very boring. A very quiet and soft spoken therefore making it hard to point out the important key facts. I have read my textbook and found it to be a better help than in class lectures. Spends a lot of time talking about her experiences and somehow try and connect them to class topics. Hard to follow at times and skips half the slides.
LOOOOONG LECTURES
Simply warm and engaging personality..
It was supposed to be a lecture that went until 9:50pm and she always ended at 9. She had study sessions before each test and exam to go over things and clear up any questions. She bell curved both our tests. Only problem is she talks kind of quietly.
Kathy is a great professor when it comes to teaching Clinical Psychology (PS381). Since this is her specialty she makes lectures very interesting, and provides great real-world examples and knows a great deal of information regarding the topic. She speaks clearly and is able to explain concepts and theories very well. I really enjoyed this class
She gets off topic very easily. When I asked her about information regarding the textbook she had no idea what I was talking about. Changed our midterm exam lessons 2 days before the midterm. Talks quietly.
Most of the time it sounds like she doesn't know what she is even talking about. She constantly references recent studies but never cites or even tells us where the studies were done. She mainly reads off her slides. She tells "personal stories" which sound 100% bs. She doesn't really answer student questions either. She's also easily angered.
I didn't get the grade I expected, due to a general sense of multiple choice questions on psychology exams being sometimes confusing, nonetheless it was an acceptable grade. Despite this, (not sure who made the multiple choice questions, assuming it is a general "confusing" consensus, I have NO personal problems or issues with Kathy Foxall.
Get ready to read your textbook. She does not provide all the information in her lectures for your exams, and she will hardly answer you if you have questions. She tends to ramble on, so you will know more about her personal life than you will about psychology. My best advice is to read the textbook and teach it to yourself.
Unorganized and tends to be off topic. tests are fair and reading the textbook is a great way of clarifying and misunderstandings from the lectures.
Not a very interesting lecturer. Really boring. Just read the text. Doesn't seem to care about teaching or her students. Maybe she should just do research and leave the teaching to professors who actually care to teach. The department should consider replacing her with a good teacher for first year students at the very least.
Horrible. Goes off topic so easily and seems to expand on subjects that don't matter to the actual content and skims through the important stuff. Tells stories that seem way too unrealistic to be true. Cannot teach at all. The only reason I am passing is because I learned most of the content in high school. If you can, get out - if not, good luck.
Kathy may not be the best public speaker, but she is very fair with the material and tests. She summarizes the textbook quite nicely in her slides and you are guaranteed an 80 if you go with just her slides. The above and beyond would be reading the textbook. She also shows videos to further your understanding and she appears to like her job! :)
This prof sucks when it comes to giving you the actual info that you need to know. All she does is tell useless (and fake) stories that do not relate that well to lecture material. I pretty much teach myself this course by reading the textbook after each of her lectures because she misses more than half of the info in the textbook. Too emotional
Dr. Foxall's lectures are off-topic and she essentially reads off her slides, which she posts on MLS. She does not have a sense of social appropriateness and shares very personal stories. I stopped showing up and taught myself the course from the textbook. If you read your textbook, you will be fine.
Very nice women but I would avoid taking another class with her. I found that she went off topic a little too much and was too hard to follow during lecture
not a great prof, very boring lectures, very easy to get off topic and makes it hard to concentrate as you get very bored. Does post lectures online though so it is easy to catch up if you miss any work
My advice to you: Only take a class with her if you absolutely have to it, otherwise wait until next term. All she does is read the slides, she says something will be on the exam and then it won't and the same happens when she says it won't be on the exam. Don't trust her slides they can be confusing read the text book.
Midterms and exams are pretty straight forward... just study her lecture notes and do the readings!
Do not take this class. Quizzes and tests are based on material that isn't covered in the lecture notes or the textbook. She expects you to remember silly details that have nothing to do with the chapter or is something that is mentioned once in a short sentence in the textbook. She doesn't respond to many emails. No help given.
PS102 - Kathy was a fair professor. Very monotone for a 3-hour lecture prof, but was very nice if you had additional questions. She posts lecture slides online. She sometimes tests on things that are in the textbook but not in lectures so beware! If you show up to class (which is almost always done early) and read, I can almost guarantee an A.
She seems nice during class although the tests in this course were ridiculous. Some of the questions on the midterm had nothing to do with the content, the multiple choice questions had random theorists and terms that I have never seen before coming from someone who read the textbook and went to every class. I would recommend not taking the course.
awful, such she is such a boring presenter. She goes trough slides so fast you don't have a chance to write a single thing form her slides or that she said. she makes you want to fall asleep.
Posts slides, helps if you need it. But overall, you get what you put in.
Kathy is fair with her exams and wants her students to succeed. You should reference the textbook though because her slides do not have much information on them. She is caring and honestly funny. Another thing I like is that she posts grades very fast and does not waste her time unlike other profs; usually within the next day or two after writing.
Great teacher, knows her stuff. if you don't go to class you won't have good grades. she is really helpful and great at explaining stuff.
Dr Foxall is a very caring individual, who wants her students to succeed. She is always willing to help and stay after class in order to answer your questions. Her lectures are very informative and you will not do well if you skip her classes nor if you don't read the required readings. Class is graded by a few things ( 2 midterms and final exam)
She was good. Attending class will give you an advantage. I found the exams very reasonable and she gives lots of chances for bonus.
Ive never rated a professor but had to do it for kathy foxall. Shes horrible. Her slides dont make sense. Her lectures dont make sense. She has no structure to her speaking. Going over lecture notes is hell because none of it makes sense. She talks so slowly and spends so much time giving us pointless stories and examples that wont help us at all.
After taking this course with Dr. Foxall, I realized how inconsiderate professors can be. Dr. Foxall does not care for you or take your situation into account if you're emailing her. She will always complain about herself but she doesn't empathize with students. Would not recommend taking any courses with this prof at all.
Took tests with her and none of the test was on our review or under the review she supplied. She surprised everyone with random unknown material on the test wouldn't take her again.
During the pandemic, Professor Foxall has not had a single helpful zoom call, and when she does, they are q/a and she has refused to answer some students questions. She has no consideration for anyone actually passing, she does the bare minimum as a professor. She is my least favourite prof this semester and I never want to take her courses again.
Dr. Foxall's slides have almost zero information on them. I've been getting my information solely from the textbook. The course info itself isnt that difficult but Dr. Foxall speaks very rudely and barely answers questions during her zoom Q and A's. She complains about how stressed she is yet has no compassion for her stressed students.
Kathy is a horrible prof and her zoom lectures are completely pointless. she doesnt really answer questions because it will give too much away. Her slides have little information and sometimes are hard to follow, I would just recommend reading the textbook. Also she is super lazy and basically tells us not to email her dumb questions.
Currently taking PS101 with Dr. Foxall in Fall 2020. Dr. Foxall is a happy prof who tries to do her best. If you do the slides AND read the textbook, you should do well. All of these negative reviews are from the day of our Oct28midterm. They are most likely angry students who did not do well on their neuroscience midterm and taking it out on her.
The most rude and passive aggressive professor I have ever had in my life. You ask for clarification and she says you should read the textbook or heres a YouTube video. Being that the students are paying a significant amount of money for our education, she should try to provide some help + not be rude by saying oh no.. when you ask for help.
She just posted powerpoints (usually late) with audio clips that provided no extra info. Also, she would put incredibly specific or unrelated questions on the midterm like "which area where I used to live has a drug problem?" A. west Vancouver B. east Vancouver, etc (this was an actual question). If you teach yourself everything, you'll be fine.
Dr. Foxall is a kind, respectful, considerate woman. She truly cares about her students and their wellbeing. She is very understanding when it comes to granting extensions. All of the negative comments on here are from salty first-year students who barely studied for the midterms. Just spend some time studying and you will do well in her class.
Honestly, she's not that bad. Earlier in the year I left a worse review, but since then she has been putting in more effort into her slides and I think her midterms for the most part are really fair and easy to well on if you study. I switched my class so i would have here next semester.
Never available when you need her, makes excuses when she doesn't respond to you in time (even if you're going through the same stresses as her), loads her slides with textbook content, & lectures over them for 1 minute. Be ready to teach yourself everything, get tested on 1/3 of the material, & be graded by 3 items with disproportionate weight.
Claims shes stressed about the same things her students should be stressed about but doesnt care about us at all. Her exams are never what she says theyll
Foxall doesn't really care about your stresses, (how ironic that this is a psych course) and won't really do anything to help you. Her zoom calls consists of q/a that are no help and often good questions go unrecognized. If she give out a test format, honestly just don't follow it because half of the topics on there won't be on the test.
I got a bad grade because I gave up in the class. Theres a stark difference between the content on her slides and whats on the midterms and exams. Thought I was doing so good and was prepared only to get a bad grade. If you wanna get a good grade, read the textbooks thoroughly and the slides. Its a lot of content but itll get u a good grade.
Her lecture material does not prepare you for any tests or exams. Questions are randomly picked from a test bank and are simply memorization questions of unnecessary topics. Overall in order to get a good grade in the class you must memorize everything in the entire textbook and prey.
Honestly not a bad person but her quality of lectures is below average, and the test questions are randomly chosen from the same test bank. If you want a good grade, be extremely prepared and read the textbook!
She seems like a really nice lady, but I can tell the pressures of online teaching have got to her. Her slides are super detailed and helpful, but make sure to also read the textbook as well. Also, good luck if you have a question regarding any of the material, she'll most likely tell you to look at the syllabus. Still a pretty good prof though.
Her lectures where basically just a brief summary of the textbook, and unless otherwise specified pretty much not worth studying. I focused on summarizing each textbook chapter that was assigned and reviewed the notes several times and I did well. Go to the supplemental instruction meetings!!! They help clarify and are good review! I liked her tho!
Some of these reviews are a bit unfair. It is university and you will definitely be expected to read, a lot. I had an emergency and she was EXTREMELY understanding and let me pick the date I was ready to write the exam. I emailed her many times and she always responded. She gave several things for extra credit/took off unclear questions from exams
I actually thought prof was decent compared to other reviews. 3 midterms and an exam. If you studied her lecture slides and read the textbook chapter once or twice you could do very well on tests. She often raised test marks and attending Si gave bonus marks. Studying is definitely needed before tests, but that is expected in university.
Cares about her students, and often allows for extensions for writing midterms. Very particular about what emails you should send her, as she should be, considering she likely has a very heavy workload. 3 midterms + final, studying for sure necessary but if you're interested in the content and prepare well for tests, you shouldn't have an issue!
Not a huge fan. Good person, but has no interest in reading emails (which with the pandemic is the only way to get a hold of her privately). Tests dont really cover material from her slides, so just read the textbook. Youll learn more that way anyways.
Kathy Foxall was a very reasonable prof, although the course itself is difficult she was very caring and understanding allowing opportunities to bump up marks as well as adding marks when she could. Her tests were very fair and easy if you put in the time and study.
I am not sure if the pandemic has made Kathy's ability to teach nonexistent or if she just cannot teach. From what I have experienced in this course, she put in the absolute bare minimum effort into teaching. She posted the lecture slides and recorded short audio clips that were useless. Avoid classes with her, unless you like boring textbooks.
cant teach. bare minimum. you never know whats on her tests. is it from her slides? or the textbook? god wouldn't even know himself. she's awful ignore her at all costs
Monotone lectures that put you to sleep, if she's started her lecture you can't use a certain door it distracts her and if you talk at all in the front row she will stop the lecture to yell at you even when talking quietly. Always seems angry and lectures aren't easy to follow.
Meh. She seems very nice and Im sure shes knowledgeable but it seems like she really didnt put effort into teaching. The recorded lectures were no help and most of them didnt even cover the topics on the tests. I did like the SI meetings though, I found them really helpful.
One of the worst profs I've ever had
Lecture slides have no information compared to the test. All of the ACTUAL important info is in the textbook. If you only see the lectures the test will make 0 sense to you. Overall attitude in syllabus/correspondence is very rude/demeaning complains about students to other students. Bad at teaching and bad at being reasonable so avoid her if u can
Attendance is not mandatory since she will never answer any question regarding the midterm or final. If you want to pass the course, just self study from the textbook. Her slides were long and very useless since she puts less emphasis on concepts tested and more on examples. .
Just follow her lecture slide and read the textbook, you will be fine.
Looking to teach yourself the whole course? Well here ya go, lectures don't match the textbook and neither match the test content. Test questions vaguely worded but she's looking for specific answers for full points. Lectures are long, disorganized, and poorly designed with lots of paragraphs of text, unhelpful voiceovers and overuse of graphics
This course requires to only self study. She only makes PowerPoints that are tediously long, with text heavy slides which relate nothing to the content on exams. Her voice over in the PowerPoint are also very vague and are usually a small example. The course only has 3 big assessments. Midterm, Exam and an assignment which makes it frustrating.
Dr. Foxall was an amazing prof. I took PS101 online and ended with an A grade. The course only was weighted on three tests and then one final exam, and they were all multiple choice. She did have lectures that built on the textbook, but if you just read the textbook you'll be fine. She was very kind when I needed accommodations as well.
WORST PROF EVER. She acts like cares about her studies (but she clearly doesn't) Midterm and final exam are worth so much because she doesn't give out any assignments that could help boost your mark. Lectures are boring due to her monotone voice. The textbook is your best friend Avoid her at all costs.
Boring and often voices unnecessary opinions. Hard to find good psych teachers these days.
This prof has been the most difficult prof I've had during covid. She is so paro about cheating and doesnt give benefit of the doubt. She puts in paragraphs as qs on the midterm but gives us less than a min to complete. She uses lockdown but says it's open book as if we would even be able to access notes. She affected my mental health
Kathy Foxhall's class required being completely self-taught. Her lectures posted didn't have anything to do with the textbook, and failed to explain many concepts in detail. She only has a midterm and exam, which makes it difficult to do well in the course if you don't like taking tests.
Kathy Foxall was one of the worst profs i have ever had. She only has two midterms and a final exam for your grades. Her lectures are useless and don't relate to anything on the exams, you must teach yourself by reading the textbook day and night. Save your time and money and get another prof for psychology.
Don't take this prof unless you're okay with self-teaching. Don't waste time attending her lectures, you can simply learn everything through just the textbook, AND get a more thorough explanation + extra content not covered in the slides.
Prof was very lazy in terms of presenting lectures in person. Does not go into great detail with the lectures, and does not assign pages to read. Usually have questions that go more in depth on the exam, then she would have taught throughout the lectures. designs course so you cannot fail anything, or will not likely pass the course
Very rude, unaccommodating. Doesn't go into detail during lecture, mainly just reads off slides. Doesn't allow for extra time during exams says 50 secs is enough for each question when other profs allow for more time to alleviate stress during an already stressful time.
Dr. Foxall has the amazing ability to simplify complex course material. Psychology is a challenging course just as university is hard in a general sense. If you do not apply yourself or study it will be difficult to be successful and Dr. Foxall will do everything she can to help on that mission. Definitely hope I have Dr. Foxall again.
Dr. Foxall is extremely compassionate, clear, and fair! I hope to take more of her courses in the future.
Dr. Foxall is an incredible professor, her lectures are always very interesting and she does a great job keeping students engaged. I've taken a few courses with her and each one has been great. She is understanding and accommodating. I would definitely recommend taking her courses
I have taken a few courses with Dr. Foxall and she's been great every time. She makes sure to provide students with what will/ will not be graded and she has interesting lectures, she is also very logical and understanding if there is a problem. I would definitely recommend taking her classes.
Kathy Foxall was one of my favourite professors in university. She approached all her lectures with an inspiring passion toward psychology and a large knowledge base. Professor Foxall got to know me as a student and I felt as if she really did care about the students. I took 2 of her classes and I was very pleased.
Very rude and inconsiderate when asking for extra help. Very few assignments/tests that are weighed very high
I enjoyed Dr. Foxall's class. Lectures are relatively content heavy so you must study extensively for exams. The course consisted of 2 midterms and a paper plus two opportunities for extra credit. Lectures are recorded and posted online so it is not necessary to go to class. Sometimes lectures can be long-winded. Always available to help if needed
If you want an amazing lecture experience, wouldn't recommend...BUTTTT if you want an amazing grade take her class. Even though she's not the best at teaching her tests are very very easy as long as you put in the effort and carefully go through the material. and if thats too much work, reconsider being in uni (also gives 5 extra bonus percent 5!).
She doesn't explain anything. Don't go to class and read the textbook instead. Way more worth your time.
I think she lectures more about masks than psychology. Slides had little information. Textbook heavy. but she did put audio clips with the slides on Myls
Switch courses if you can. Her grades are 3 tests for the entire semester, her slides are inadequate in information, going to her classes is useless as she just reads off the slides. Would rather talk about you getting covid and masks than the class. I get 85+ overall grades and she has managed to get me a sub-60 simply through her teaching/notes.
I personally thought she was a caring and well-organized, fair professor. She provided caring outlets for us such as studying music, studying tips, etc. just to help us.I had to defer a midterm twice, and she was totally understanding. She is a great speaker, and inspires me to learn more. To do well, just go to class and study:)
No rubrics or real feedback, accused our whole class of plagiarism on an open book test, told us she does not give out A+ because it gets her in trouble. Only taught about 3 lessons of content, the rest of the entire semester was student presentations, and the presentations were just us guessing at what she wanted. Do not take this seminar course.
She's a really sweet lady and knowledgeable about the content. The pace of her lectures are a little bit slow, however she explains many examples from her personal experiences to deepen understanding of the content. She puts a reasonable amount of info on slides, but reading the textbook is mandatory to get above a B on exams.
Only two midterms and a final that decide your grade. Questions barely test you on the knowledge of the course.
Class mark is completely based on midterms and exams. Lectures are extremely difficult to understand and sometimes puts questions on tests about content that was never supposed to be covered or tested on within said test. Uses multiple terms consecutively to describe the same topic over and over.
she's a really nice lady, but her lectures are so dull and its hard to hear her, she speaks so quietly. Its hard to pay attention in class which makes me not wanna go.
You must read and study the textbook to be successful, if you just show up to lectures or simply don't show up at all you will not do well. Exams test for knowledge of textbook material. Going to class helps reinforce course concepts. There are 2 midterms worth 30% each, the final worth 40% and 4.5 % in bonus marks - which is really generous.
Her lectures are long and hard to pay attention to. She is not very good at answering emails and not overly courteous toward students writing with ALC. Graded only on midterm tests and a final exam. The course content is incredibly interesting, she just isn't the greatest at teaching it. If you enjoyed PS280, you'll enjoy this course too.
Wonderful prof!
She was great. Sure, not the best lecturer, but PS102 was an easy 12 (A+). I never went to lecture because all of what she did was in the textbook. Her exams are extremely easy, as long as you memorize what she covered on the slides while following along in the textbook. Went into final with >100% due to 5% bonus. Just study the textbook!
Professor Foxall is a caring and organized instructor. Her lectures are informative, and she provides helpful study tips. To do well, attend class and use resources like Unstuckstudy.
If you have any class with kathy regardless, read the textbook!! Her lecture slides don't go as in depth as she would like you to know for the tests, I wouldn't even bother looking at the slides tbh just the textbook.
There are only two midterms to show for your grade and she tells you straight out the gate that she won't do any extra work to boost your mark. It's lazy and inconsiderate to the students that have to rely solely on two exams without anything else to show their work.
I had her online so not much to say, final was very overwhelming and hard. (also worth 45%) . A few opportunities for extra credit but most of your grade is from two midterms and final.
She is a very sweet prof but her lectures are boring. She is an average professor. PS271 has 2 midterms and an exam. You need to read the textbook to do well in the course as she tests the most random stuff. Many people do not show up to her lectures as they are boring. She is a fine prof though just read the textbook.
The course was good, Prof. Foxall helped bridge the course content to real life situations and experiences. Her tests were from lecture/class content, and very fair. She cares a lot about her students and is very helpful. If you go to class, and study you're notes and the slides, you'll do fine. You don't have to focus too much on the textbook.
The course was good, Prof. Foxall bridged the content to real life experiences. She cares about students. Her tests were very fair, mostly from lecture/slides (don't focus too much on the textbook, use it for more detail on slide concepts). If you go to class, study the slides/notes, you'll do great. Ask questions! No papers, just 3 tests + exam.
This lady does a decent class . She likes class participation. I have had her twice by now the course isn't that hard but it prioritizes self study . Over all she is a nice lady with an interesting class.
She helped me a lot with mental health issues and made me embrace compassion and mindfulness for myself. I've never met a more caring, kind-hearted, and inspiring prof before
Dr. Foxall really cares about students. The way she speaks to us is real, and raw, and thought-through carefully. Some people think it's awful, I think it's AMAZING how she goes at a slower pace. It makes it so much easier to understand what she's saying and to write down all her points. She cares so much about her students, she makes it obvious!
What is the point of me showing up to midterms if I can just skip them without any reason or deferrals and get a free retake a week later? She's literally violating Laurier's academic fairness policies by letting people who no show tests retake them with no consequence or reason.
Highly recommend for deadbeat students with 6.0 GPAs. She will treat you better than students who actually try.
So bad at explaining lectures and rambles about her life during class. U don't learn much and difficult to do well on her tests. Said some disrespectful things and its shocking how she still is able to teach. Does not convey matieral clearly and skips slides often. Worse prof I've ever had.
Dr. Foxall means well, but her information isn't always accurate nor is it presented in a considerate way for all students. PS 280 is based on 2 midterms and a final exam. However, if you read her slides and write notes, her tests are VERY easy and questions are written almost verbatim of what is in lecture slides. She is overall very fair.
Professor Foxall really cares about her students. Her lessons can seem slow-paced, but that just makes it so much easier to follow along, instead of rushing to try and write down the important information before she goes to the next slide. She's kind and caring, super accommodating, clear about assignments, and often accessible outside of class.
She takes some getting used to, but she very much cares about students (almost too much so..) she's almost like a different person when you speak to her after classes or during office hours, she very personable and kind. You do quite literally have to just do nothing but re-read and queue card the lectures, though, to do well.
