She is a very nice person. However, Wish we had discussion lectures and wish I felt more engaged in her lectures. She is a tough grader and tough exams. Needs to give a study guides. Occasionally gives extra credit on test. Very difficult class!
She is a very nice person. However, Wish we had discussion lectures and wish I felt more engaged in her lectures. She is a tough grader and tough exams. Needs to give a study guides. Occasionally gives extra credit on test. She needs to keep up with curriculum and she will teach quickly to get through but is not fair for those that cant keep up!
Professor is really nice. Only thing I would say is , her clarity on how to prep and what to prep for exams is quite difficult. I've never taken a hard class as challenging as this one. She grades on exams and a small percentage on lab and hw. Wish she prepared us more on exams. A lot of it is just her talking instead of teaching us to understand.
Very difficult class.
I'm currently taking professor Hosseini and she is by no means an easy professor. I tanked the first exam with a 65%. I spoke to her and she told me I could still do very well. Currently i'm at a high B (working for an A). It's a real difficult class. Takes a lot of dedication. Just study hard, review her lecture slides and have study groups.
Excellent teacher. Also, a very strict teacher. She will know almost every student by name by the end of first week. If you talk, text, snooze in class, she will let you know. Don't buy textbook. Everything is on slides. Pay attention in class and study from the slides, and you will pass (if you put the work in). A very effective and nice teacher.
Any anatomy class is difficult but she is an Amazing Professor! Approachable, friendly, and caring. Everyone does poor on the 1st exam, but it prepares you for the speed of an anatomy class. Treat it like a foreign language class and study a lil every day, go to the bio tutoring lab every week for the models, and know everything in her class notes.
Tough Grader on everything and has no good explanation on what she reads in her Power Points. There are plenty more to say about this teacher but Im going to leave it at that. -.- -.- -.- -.-
Quite possibly the best teacher at LAVC, but definitely one of the best. Took her class in Spring '15. Anatomy is very tough. Good teacher but still half the class dropped out. Her slides are a huge help. Former students like myself appreciate her teaching skills. Nice person. But a no-nonsense teacher. If you mess with her, she'll come after you.
Great teacher. I took her class last semester. All exam questions are from the slides. I didn't have to use textbook. But it is a very difficult course. You have to put the work in. No easy way out. She gives plenty of mnemonics to help students memorize - big help during exams. During lab, goes around and points out features on anatomical models.
Prof Hosseini is a very helpful teacher, but anatomy was still a struggle for me. Few tips. Print out her slides and bring them to class to take notes on them. "Repetition is key" (her words)--I had to go over slides several times during self-study to learn the difficult anatomical concepts. Memorize anatomical names by actually writing them out.
She's strict. Doesn't tolerate any funny business in class. Tells students where to sit during lab exams. But she's also nice and helpful. Genuinely cares about her students. During our final exam she was actually going around asking students if they needed any clarification for the black and white anatomical diagrams labeling exercise.
Dr. Hosseini is so smart it's scary ! and she is an awesome instructor. Anatomy is a very challenging class no matter where you take it, or with whom, so a good professor who is clear in her lectures and labs is crucial. Dr. Hosseini is that, and then some! She's also very supportive and obviously cares how her students are doing.
Her teaching style worked for me. She has slides available few days before lecture. You can print out the slides and follow along and take notes as she goes over them in class. Barely opened the textbook. But it was still a lot of hard work. Always smiling, except for when somebody gives her a reason not to.
Ratings are usually subjective. I got an A in her class in Spring 2015. I think she's a good teacher. A person who dropped or failed her class might think otherwise. She's a very helpful teacher. But we had to put in a lot of time and effort - lots of late nights, early mornings, and hours in between. Anatomy is tough. My class buddy dropped out.
I got an A in her class, but it wasn't easy. Anatomy is hard. Her lectures help, especially the slides, but you have to be there every day to keep up with the course-load. She gives extra credit, but made us work for it by asking us to point out various features on the anatomical models in lab. But she was there to help us along if we got it wrong.
Her exams are fair. All questions were from her slides. I hated the lab exam part where we had to move around every minute to go through the anatomical model stations. No choice. But she saw that some of us students were struggling with the microscope slides during lab sessions, so she didn't have any for the last lab final. Pretty good teacher.
Prof Hosseini seemed intimidating at first. During first lab exam, I was trying to see which way to go from the last station to the first. She came right over to me to ask why I was looking around. But she's very helpful. Doesn't mind going over difficult concepts several times, especially for anatomical models.
I took Hosseini's class last semester. I did not do well in the first exam. My friend dropped her class because he did not like her teaching style. He took Brockmann this semester, and he was still struggling. Hosseini reassured everybody that most people don't do well on first exam. Gave us some study tips. I continued with her class. Got an A.
Her class was a big help for Physiology class also, especially when she told us to focus on muscle physiology and endocrine system. She also spent quite a bit of time on the cardiovascular and renal systems, which, as I found out, are big sections in Physiology. Helpful teacher. Tough class, but it prepared me for Physiology, which is even tougher.
Very helpful teacher. The class is not easy, but its doable if you do everything on time. Go to lab use office hours ask questions participate. Very pleasant person, does everything for you to succeed. Grades tough but fair. Very approachable. Texts are all from her lectures and slides. A is possible if you work for it. Offers extra credit to help
She is very thorough. She has high expectations of her class. She will help you whenever you need it! While taking her class the utilization of the tutoring is a must!
She was a great professor and I learned so much from her. Take advantage of the tutoring lab, it is extremely important to spend time in there. Print out the powerpoint and make every lecture and lab. I highly recommend taking Anatomy with her.
The lectures were interesting but the class was only about lecturing and taking exams. She gives a study guide but does not tell you what specifically will be on the test so you HAVE TO READ. Be aware, during exams she will give you an assigned seat and you must have your cell phone off or else the whole class will lose a point.
Prof Hosseini is a pretty good teacher. Anatomy has been a struggle for me from day 1. I didn't think I was going to pass, but I somehow did. Lots of hard work needed in this class. She actually stayed extra time after the Friday lab class a couple of times to help me understand some anatomical concepts I was struggling with. Thanks Dr. Hosseini!
Bio 3 is a tough class, but I learned a lot from Dr. Hosseini. You have to be in class and pay attention in order to pass, even get an A, like I did. Lots of material to go through, but if she focuses on certain topics, most likely they will be on the exam. I like her teaching style and have signed-up for her Anatomy class in Spring 2017.
Tough class, as expected. Pretty good teacher. I'm sure there are other Professors who volunteer their time in the tutoring lab, but she is the only Anatomy teacher I have actually seen actively interacting with her students in tutoring lab and going over the various anatomical models. Helpful and nice person, but don't test her patience.
Professor Hosseini is truly a remarkable professor. She takes the time to go over material thoroughly. Its a memorization class. Utilize the learning center.
She is one of the most amazing professors Ive ever had. She is very carrying person. . Dont be late from the class, she gives many extra credits which is very helpful. I didnt know anything about the anatomy before this class but she was explaining so well that I was getting high scores. Be ready to read and memories a lot.
Good teacher. Her slides-based lectures helped during exams. I was having difficulty with some anatomical models (pretty much all of them!). Dr Hosseini went over the models a few times to explain things. Some teachers allow students to use their phones during class. She doesn't. She's strict, but also a nice and helpful person.
Hard class. Scantron exams were hard. Lab exams were even harder. I barely passed the first set of written and lab exams. But she encourages students to make use of her office hours and tutoring center. I took her advice and spent time every week in the tutoring center going over the anatomical models. Her lectures and tutoring lab helped me pass.
She talks so much, and will never answer your questions.
theory class seemed easier than lab (still wasn't easy) because most of the questions are from her lecture. for the lab exams i didn't have time for tutoring lab but in friday labs i took lots of pics on my phone of anatomical models and their guide sheets and reviewed them at home. she's a tough cookie but nice.
She refers to students in her class as "my students." She cares about student learning but gets upset if people chit-chat during lectures. But she encouraged us students to interact with each other in labs, and quiz each other on anatomy models. Lectures, slides, labs, flashcards, tutoring lab, office hours should help get you through Anatomy.
Anatomy is a tough class especially during a winter session. Get ready to drink lot of coffee and stay up all night studying. I think it's more doable during an entire semester. Professor Hosseini is great. She really wants you to learn. Take advantage of the anatomy lab and of your TA if you have one.
Very good professor. Anatomy is a hard class. If you are the type of student that is spoon fed, this is not your class. You will have to work hard to get an A but is not impossible. Shes a very excellent professor but be ready to study and I mean study hard!!!
Great profesoor, Anatomy requires lots of sacrifices, if you work more than 15+ hours a week dont even bother taking it. more than half the class dropped throughout. All you need are her power points which she gives to you. bring them in to lectures to take notes on them, I didnt open the text book once. Shes amazing with teaching. TAKE HER!! (:
Totally unhelpful, her choice of TAs is questionable. An easy A, but definitely not worth the frustration or busy work she gives you.
I took this during the winter session which made it more difficult than a regular semester. Professor Hosseini is a great speaker so her lectures are palatable even on the driest topics. Her tests can be intense if you don't study hard. Extra credit is available if she sees students working hard. Homework is minimal.
Dr Hosseini is very passionate about teaching and it really shows in her lectures. She cares about her students and wants to see them succeed. Tests are really based on the lectures and she especially emphasizes topics in class. She offers plenty of EC but definitely makes you work for your grade.
You need to put in the time and effort for this class, more than half the class ended up dropping because they were unable to do that. If you have any concerns or questions please talk to her, she tries to help her students as much as she can, also go to her TAs tutoring they were so helpful for the practical tests. Good Luck.
A lot of the people who complain about her didn't want to put in work. Her tests are EASY but the material is heavy. Just study every day and come to class. People who did not get an A did not put in the time to get an A. She is very fair and kind.
Took during winter semester. The material was hard, but she explains it very well. Anatomy is going to be hard regardless of who you take, but she is so caring and has personality that she makes the class not dreadful. Her TA for winter 2019 was questionable; definitely not passionate about his job. Just memorize and y'all will be fine.
There isn't really any way to study for her exams. Asks random questions that are too too too difficult. In perspective, if homework has level 4 difficulty, and the exams have level 10. Even if you know how to do every single anatomical structure, it doesn't mean you will do well on the exams.
difficult class. good teacher.
EASY CLASS THIS IS NOT FOR SURE BUT SHE BREAKS DOWN THE MATERIAL SO IT IS EASIER TO MANAGE AND EXTRA CREDITS HELP TO BOOST GRADE
Anatomy and physiology needed for resp therapy school. Physiology seemed 10x harder. Dr hossseini can be tough but she is willing to help if you ask for it. Tutoring lab also helps. thanks Doc!
Unclear Lectures, doesn't thoroughly explain concepts. Does some of the easy problems in class. The tests are a lot hard and have things not covered anywhere. The final is very hard and has questions that were not covered.
probably the hardest class i have taken so far at lavc. prof hoseini went through a lot of material in class which can feel too much to handle at times but she is helpful and is available for questions in her office and tutoring lab
Quite a few people dropped out. Not an easy class. If you are struggling in the class don't wait till the end of semester to ask professor Hosseini for help. The tutoring lab is usually full just before the exams. Lol!
Hossini is a good instructor. Class is just as hard as Micro20. I passed Micro and anatomy. No secrets to passing. You have to show up for class every day and go over the material at home regularly. Going to tutoring center and working on anatomy models is a must to do well in lab exams
5 weeks of non-stop anatomy winter session is a killer. But the Teach helps you get through it
PASSED!
Hosseini is a terrible teacher. First, the class is a ridiculous amount of work - more like 10 units, not 5 - and second, she doesn't teach anything. So you're expected to teach yourself. - so be warned!
I enjoyed Professor Hosseini's style of teaching. She cares for her students and makes herself available, promptly replies to the email. Yes, you will have to work to get a good grade. Make sure to do your homework and prep for the exams on time, do not wait until the last minute. PowerPoints are clear and have enough information.
online class. She is strict on attendance but overall seemed to be a good instructor. transitioning from classroom to online format was not easy. I passed that's all i care about At least I didn't have to stress about finding parking in mornings on college campus.
True dat but best part of online class was that I would sometimes attend class in my PJs. The professor was okay. This covid situation was difficult for everybody. Physiology in Fall
Extremely difficult class. Tough grader, does not care about how to best help her students, will not always respond to you. Militant type of testing. So rigid that if you dont have test anxiety now, you will in her class.
She is very serious about testing, you'll see! Take every word seriously on her powerpoints. She loves to point out the harder parts of the models, so really be meticulous when studying, This class is one of the hardest, I've ever taken, but it is definitely doable, although sometimes it could feel like hell. Some E.C. is offered on each test.
No surprises My friends told me this was going to be a hard class and they were right I almost dropped the class and contacted the professor and she gave me suggestions to do better I stuck with the class and passed I dropped my psych class and will take it in summer
H@rd clasS to pass but n0t imp0ssible
She as a resource was unhelpful. TAs didn't seem to know what was going on. Tests tend to be almost exactly the same, so check previous terms' tests. This was the first science class I'd ever been in where the entire lecture hall unanimously responded "NO" when a professor asked, "Did that make sense?"
A very disorganized instructor. You never know where her explanations will go to, and you are responsible for all the rambling bits she utters. Half the time I had no idea what she was talking about. I'm good at memorizing but I found his way very ineffective and discouraging. Doesnt care about student
If you are serious about your future in the medical field, Dr. K. Hosseini won't get you there. She does not provide you the background knowledge as well as the grade level. However, Dr. K. Hosseini's expectations are to master the class material. As a resource, if asking her an explanation, you won't get the direct answer.
5wk summer school of Anatomy was pretty rough.I am just glad it is finally over. the course-load is pretty intense but Hosseini makes it manageable. I was thinking of signing up for another online class along with anatomy but i'm glad I didn't
this covid thing makes it a bit easier to study cuz there is nothing else to do but to sit home and study and this class definitely is not easy lol!
ONline class. 5 weeks, 5 exams, final, quizzes, discussion posts... Very heavy duty summer semester. Take anatomy during regular semester if you can wait. I couldn't wait. Had to get this classs done. Helpful instructor.
Took it during the Summer and it was intense. There were 6 exams and 6 quizzes. She recorded her lectures which was very helpful. Although in the end, there were only 6 students left in the class. Anatomy is not for everyone but after you'll feel great because you worked hard to earn the grade. I got a B in the class but I still survived and passed
She is really hard, and she doesnt care about the students. She wont give you a guidance on what is going to be in the exams or quizzes. If you take her, read the book in detail and ahead of time.
TAKE ANOTHER PROFESSOR. this was her first time teaching the material and she needs a lot of practice. She also does not care about her students. Her exams are not based on her notes so waste of time. Literally no body passed the class with a good grade. If there was any it was for sure only like 1 student. She is a good anatomy professor but not a
Do not take physio with her. SHes a great anatomy professor but not physio. Take another professor if you want to pass her class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF!!! out of 45 students, only 14 completed the class with just 1A! Tests and grades heavily on exams, quizzes and labs hold nothing. NO study guides. Doesn't take questions while lecturing, you wait at the end or send her an email. Her grading is not clear. No extra points. HARD class but a HARDER PROF!!
tough course but i cant blame Hosseini for that. doing this online class from home with all the distractions wasnt easy either. glad its over and i am done with physio
Passed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm going out to party. Oh wait! Covid! Bummer.
I have taken Anat with her before and am familiar with her teaching style. She does give out extra credits at the end especially with that lavc required lame assignment which helps to boost grade. Definitely a difficult class. not much else to say
PHYSIO 1: Hard class but prof makes it even harder! video records the lecture. out of 45 students only 13 completed, majority with C grade.. Does not give study guide, MUST read whole text book and make individual notes. Her questioning is confusing. Informing department chair doesn't help, DON'T even bother... JUST FIND ANOTHER PROF IF YOU CAN!!!
Lol! Don't go by the reviews both good or bad. Physio is hard but if there's a better prof available take them. i passed with a B and feel pretty good about it. Time to move on. No need to go crying and whining to dept chair. Happy holidays y'all!
Talks to the wall/powerpoints, engages in odd behaviors while lecturing, during labs gives some groups more thorough information than other groups. Reported her to the Head of the Department, nothing happened.
Study every freaking word on the slides. She's sneaky on the test, always chooses the hardest words possible on models, even some she doesn't mention in lecture. The whole class is about testing. All I could say is this is the only B I've ever had in college, out of 85 units, including chem, physio and more. DO NOT take in winter/summer!!!!!!
Prof Hoseinni is a pretty straightforward instructor. you must log in for the online class on time. This five week Winter session was super tough. A bunch of people dropped out. exams are not easy but the Prof goes thru a lot of stuff during lectures and labs that are on the exams.
I agree. Do not take the 5week semester if you can avoid it. I took this class in Fall last year with another teacher but dropped it before dropdate cuz i fell behind. Retook anat in Winter to get it done and most of it was a review for me from Fall. The professor is helpful But still a hard class
Please do yourself a favor and take physio w/ a different prof. She REFUSES to has the recorded lectures up in an adequate time frame because apparently, it's "too complicated". I dropped b/c she spoke badly about working students and isn't straightforward w/ the course. So unprofessional.
This professor makes physio a lot harder. Her lectures are so long and boring. She goes off-topic and sometimes explains incorrectly and will correct herself in the end, which makes it even more confusing. Grades are based on 80% of the exams and the questions on her exams are so weird. No EC, no study guide, no quizzes, and Labs are worth 5%
THis class is just as har d as Micro20. people were dropping out of that class also. One guy dropped out and said he was going to take Physio at Pierce next semester. Goodluck to him. No magic formula. Jus t got to show up for the online class and take notes and study. sounds boring but thats just the way it is.
Ya, all these classes are weed-out classes. But even if you dropped out take the class next semester, no big deal. I heard nursing school classes are supertough. Hosseini is helpful but still is a hard class
Physio was hard but I managed to pull it off. Grading is sorta tough so you HAVE to read the book otherwise u will not pass her tests. EC was offered which raised my grade a lil bit. Overall shes nice but tough grader.
Ima done with physio. But i dropped chem101 cuz it was just too much. Ima taking Chem101 in Fall before transfer to another college. Anyone got good notes for chem101? cuz that class is a beast compared to physio.
All these allied health class are pretty much the same, not easy classes. Physiol is definitely harder than anat or micro but if you got through the other two classes then you know the routine for physiol. Hosseinis lectures help but I hate this online format.
Winter five-week semester is really hard. It is basically a 4month semester crammed into 5weeks. Seemed like more than half the class dropped out but most dropped due to covid I guess. Take this class in winter if you have to but do not signup for any other class. The teacher seemed helpful but this class is fastpaced!
Professor Hosseini is very professional, caring and always willing to give feedback and answer any questions. Physiology is hard and very conceptual class but her lectures are very explanatory and she uses PowerPoints instead of textbook. I definitely recommend her and would take her again!
Class is harder than anat for sure but it is passable. Hosseini seemed to be a pretty good instructor. Some folks dropped out. she is willing to help but attendance for class and lab is mandatory.
amazing professor. the class is hard but she makes it fun and engaging. it is test heavy so get ready to be studying constantly. lots of use of models during lab. she is very understanding and she does give out extra credit every now and then on your exams if you can convince her. i would highly recommend her. very fun class and even funnier prof
Not an easy or fun class but the prof seemed to be helpful. Got to be there for the lectures and labs, if you miss a couple you will fall behind. i'm done with this class, onto physio next semester. Happy holidays! and stay away from covid, flu, rsv, ebola, monkey pox, and whatever else is out there.
Would not take again for any other science classes. If you struggle with exams or test takings in general, be aware that she does not give out study guides for any exams !!!!
This was an intense class but Hosseini is helpful. I took her Anat class couple of semesters back and signed-up for her Physio class for the Spring. Things get rolling pretty fast so missing even a couple of lectures is not an option.
Pretty good instructor but this is a super-tough class as o thers have already mentioned. can't miss out on the lectures and labs. Class is hard but it is in line with other courses I have taken like micro and Anatomy and Chem.
your whole grade depends on your exam scores, if you're bad at exams and quizzes good luck.
She is the most amazing professor i have ever had. The way she breaks down content makes it easy to comprehend. Lots of extra credit, caring, very helpful if contacted. She also teaches Biology 5. I took her class and excelled with super A+. Be assured of success with her.

If you're thinking of taking Professor Hosseini, take her! The class was not easy, but possible to get an A if you put in the work. Anatomy is a hard subject no matter the professor but Hosseini explains everything so well and breaks everything down. would 100% take a class of hers again
Anatomy is a difficult course in general no matter what you have to study alot to get the grade you want, I would recommend her because she has no problem answering questions and most of whats on the test is just on the lecture slides, if you get a 79.5 that is considered a B in her class also an 89 is an A, just put in the work from the beginning.
Honestly, I took bio5 lab with her and she is a great teacher however, she picks favorites. In Lab class, she helped her students with anatomy terms and it was very useful. There will be pop quizzes every week. Furthermore, I will be taking her Anatomy class later in the future. I recommend her 100%.
do nottttt take her everyone dropped
Lab textbook and attendance are required. Great professor. The course is difficult and she makes it digestible. The lectures are long and dense; labs are time to prepare for the practical portion of the test. It is a memorization-driven class. Every week there is a form of quiz or exam. She is ready to help and available.
I'm still in the process of taking the class but I've scored near perfect on both tests, quizzes, and labs. Class is lecture heavy so be prepared to take thorough notes, but my goodness is she an excellent professor. Her lectures are super clear, informative, and organized. She is top tier and you will learn a lot if you put in the effort. 10/10
This professor explains clearly and makes sure her students understand the material. She'll answer any questions and tries to make the lecture entertaining. I received a B but I also didn't put a lot of effort into studying, which was a mistake since anatomy in general is a difficult course that consists of memorization but it's not impossible.
She is very passionate about the subject, she is always willing to answer questions, she is overall a great professor. She does not give study guides but the lectures she provides are basically all you need just make sure you really memorize but also understand the lectures. She is great she gives lab time, can always ask questions if you have any.
Dr. Hosseini is an amazing teacher. I learned a lot from here in class. One thing I would recommend to students when taking this class is to prepare & read ahead of class. You need to put in the work & time and you should be fine. Test Heavy.
I believe Physio is a hard class regardless of the prof, but prof Hosseini is awesome. her lectures are a bit heavy. I normally spend about 3-4 days arranging my notes but she is good at teaching, she made things really easy to understand you just gotta make sure you have enough time to study everything!
This professor is top-notch. She offers so much help, tons of tutoring, and gives more than enough knowledge to pass. Exceptional teacher, just Anatomy and Physiology are tough and extensive classes to take.
Best Professor I've ever encountered. I was part of her 8-week anatomy course, which was truly intense but rewarding. She explains clearly and loves to help whenever someone doesn't understand. Don't hesitate to take her anatomy/ physiology class, you won't regret it. Make sure you put in the hours to study her class.
Professor Hosseini is a fantastic instructor who breaks down the challenging content of this anatomy course in a clear and engaging way. Attending lectures and using resources like unstuck ai for study prep can really help you succeed. Though the class is difficult, the professor is very helpful and accessible.
Compared to other options for Physio, Prof Hosseini is the best/easiest compared to profs at Pierce and other LACCD schools. There's no hw, so your grade is based mostly on lab quizzes, lab worksheets, and exams. Exams have 3-5 pts EC. I did well because I would MEMORIZE the slides and study 1-1.5 weeks in advanced. You have to study consistently.
Professor Hosseini was great. The class itself was tough to be honest and she doesn't really give out study guides she says to help prepare us for nursing because we wont have study guides then i guess it makes sense. otherwise shes always free to answer questions through emails if needed and she was sweet and caring and gives great lectures.
Prof Hosseini serves Meredith Grey. Period. She was awesome & i learned so much from her! Not an easy class for sure but will get what you put in! Great person too :) miss u boo
.........too bad
The professor is very helpful and truly wants all of us to succeed. It's a tough/intense course that is lecture-heavy. Only a few homework assignments that are to help you practice the material. Your grade is mostly based on exams and quizzes. You have to study A LOT and make sure you understand the material, not just memorize it.
Professor Hosseini is not a good professor whatsoever. AVOID HER AT ALL TIMES. TRUST ME. Her exams are 65% worth your grade.. while labs and assignments and quizzes are 5 or 10% which does nothing. Her grading system is unfair. Her lectures are so confusing and even her exams are too wordy. She's controlling and unprofessional.
Prof. Hosseini is a nice person, but DAMN her exams are hard and confusing, Her lectures are boring (ngl) and don't really help much. Even during lab, she a tough grader especially the handouts. Be ready to teach yourself, read a lot, and do extra research if you want to pass.
Class is not that bad, lots of content but if you can memorize well you're chillin.
