She is a really smart lady, but history is boring. Test are all mulitple choice (easy if you listen) and you have 2 writing assignments. I highly recommend taking her class. You will learn something.
VERY EASY TEACHER! I took history my first semester and dropped because i had a F. but when i took ms. jones, i had an A! Very easy tests, if you study. not much studying is required. i studied the night before and made an A on the tests. history is boring..yes...but she makes it easy to understand and keeps you awake! I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Professor Jones is a very patient woman. It is easy to take notes in her class and her tests are straight from the notes. Easy tests and A+100 if you keep up.
Very easy teacher. Tests are all multiple choice and straight from the notes. NEVER posts grades when she says she will. Grades are frequently posted a week after she promises that they will be posted.
She is very easy. Her test come directly from her notes. As long as you actually go to class you will make an A. Her final does cover a lot of info though so be ready for that! Other than that I highly recommend her!
Very easy and helpful teacher. All tests come straight from study guides that come straight from notes. I hate history and she made it mildly interesting.
Just take notes and you will pass. She makes her tests exactly from her notes
awesome teacher! soo easy! tests come straight from her notes!
Kathy Jones is good stuff. You HAVE to take notes and you have to study them. I took a night class, so it easily became boring hearing history for so long, even she got bored. But she lets you have breaks, she lets you grab a drink. The class clears out a lot halfway, but you really just have to take notes and read them. Don't miss class.
This is the easiest class you will ever take. Her tests are multiple choice and come directly from the notes. The essays are easy. Took it during the summer and it was a breeze. She never has the essays graded when she says she will. Take this class if you want a guaranteed A.
Very good teacher. Will answer any questions and do whatever she can to help you.
She is very knowledgeable in her subject area. Her tests come straight from the lecture notes. She makes outlines and power point slides available online so you can follow along. Super easy! I definitely recommend her.
Super great instructor! As long as you take notes and attend class you are going to pass. Her test come directly from the notes. She is very knowledgeable of the subject and will go out of her way to assist you in any way she can. She care about her students and wants you to do well!! Highly recommended!!
SHE IS AN OKAY TEACHER. SHE TRIES ARE BEST. MY ASSIGNMENT GOT LOST SOME HOW AND SHE LET ME RESUBMIT IT. SHE IS VERY SWEET.
Talks all class and have to take notes from her lecture but test are multiple choice! She never cancels class though
I loved this class. I've always been a fan of history and Ms.Jones lectures in a "story-telling" fashion that kept my interest. Take good notes and study for the tests, as they are straight from her lecture. I hardly used by book except for the two writing assignments. Also gives pop quizzes that are just free grades. Great class!
i took her night class. it was long and dull, but what history isn't? if you missed class, just get the notes from someone else. overall, if you put a decent amount of study time in before the test, you'll be fine.
i took a night class but i still liked this class. the test are super easy i didnt study but got to class a little early and read over my notes and i made an A! her final is not comprehensive! the only problem with her is that she takes a long time to grad the essays. i suggest attend every class and take notes! that alone will help you on the test
STRAIGHT LECTURE. Mandatory Class Meetings. Tests come straight from lecture notes. Only 3 tests per semester. Take home essays and one formal writing assignment. Gives quizzes on days with low attendance. Offers extra credit at end of semester!
Ms. Jones is a fantastic instructor! As long as you go to class and take notes, you are pretty sure to pass. The test come straight from her lecture notes and are all multiple choice! She goes out of her way to assist students that are struggling if you attend class, she also gives work for extra credit! Highly recommended!!
Great Class! Take notes and go to class. Some essays required, but they are not hard to do. She obviously loves to teach and she will help you in any way possible. Her tests are over exactly what she lectures on. If you take notes and attend class, you can make a good grade without much effort. This was the least stressful of all of my classe
Test's straight from your notes. Easy A if you show up for class.
have her for summer.. She is great... Nothing Tricky... gives quizzes which a 3 year old could pass. Her tests you do not even have to study for ... just listen in class and you will remember b/c it is presented interesting....
LOVE LOVE LOVE her!!! She talks about history as if she was really there! Granted...some things are just plain boring but she is very helpful and kind. She does not try to trick you on tests--they are exactly what she says they are. However, you better show up for class or you'll miss EASY bonus points on pop quizzes.

Amazing History professor! I took her for 201 and she literally made it the greatest class I've ever taken. She was very clear with her outlines, lecture was on topic and in very clear chronological order. I would recommend her for anyone who attends class and wants to actually enjoy their history class. P.S. Her papers are short and easy
Great teacher !
Tests are straight from the lectures in class. Very straight forward and easy. I got a C in the class but could have easily gotten a B if I studied more. I'd recommend her. Quizzes were SO easy! Good teacher
Made History interesting! Her lectures were more like an ongoing story (best. part. ever). I would recommend making a class buddy in case you miss a day and investing in a taperecorder because she doesn't give out or post her notes, plus sometimes there's alot of info on a topic and it's better to listen first and take notes later :)
NEVER cancels class. Gives quizzes on low attendance days that are super easy (she gives you the answers)! Tests are all multiple choice. 2 informal essays (1-2 pgs) and 1 formal essay (3-4 pgs). All are easy. Final is NOT cumulative. Kinda boring, but very knowledgeable. Low textbook use except for when writing essays. I recommend her.
Ms. Kathy is a GREAT professor! I would recommend her to everyone. All tests are multiple choice and come from what she lectures in class, so attendance is mandatory if you want to do good on the tests. When she gives quizzes, she gives the answers while she asks the questions! Only 2 essays the whole semester. Super helpful, and very available! :)
This class is very easy. The only time you need your textbook is when you write the two essays. If you take good notes and study over them then you should pass with an A.
I loved this class. She always knows what she is talking about. Basically, if you go to class and take notes, you will do fine.
If you show up to class, she will bend over backwards to help you. On the essays, she instructs students to see her so she can proofread the essays so students get a fair shot at a good grade. I love her class!
TAKE HER!!! She is seriously the easiest teacher ever! The tests are easy! She gives you the answers to the quizzes.
Awesome teacher! Love her! I honestly had no idea how much I loved History until I took her class. She explains everything so clearly and makes it very interesting. If I knew that all History teachers would be like her I would consider changing my major! LOL - She is extremely helpful & has a great personality.
Super easy class. But she's kinda monotone. She gives quizzes the days that a lot of people are absent. So go to class everyday, and you'll pass with flying colors.
just go to class and listen she is boring but the class is easy and read your book
Go to class and take good notes and you should get at least a B. She gives you the answers to quizzes.
Jones was an amazing teacher and when she would give pop quizzes, she would literally tell you the answer. You basically got an A for showing up. The tests are straight from her notes and it was all multiple choice. Excellent teacher!
She is an AWESOME teacher! I loved her class and looked forward to going every time (which is rare for me). She makes her lectures like a story. Also, her tests are EXACTLY what's in your notes, as long as you take good notes. I highly recommend her!
SOOOOO easy. Her tests are straight from the notes. Her lectures are interesting. & she does pop quizzes and LITERALLY gives you the answer. I definitely fully recommend taking her class!
Professor Jones' lectures are very easy to follow. She really knows what she is talking about. Her voice is sarcastic and it keeps your attention. She lectures so well that the studying for her class is very easy. She takes her time and goes through the lectures slow. Her quizzes are the best! Required: 2 document writings and 2 essays.
Ms. Jones is the most amazing professor I have taken at McNeese! She seriously had me thinking about becoming a History major! Sweetest lady I have ever met. Her lectures are like stories, and they are very interesting. I took her for an eight o'clock class and I didn't have the urge to fall asleep! I would recommend her with no regret!!
Jones is super easy! She'll give pop quizzes every now and then but she literally gives you the answers! as long as you know the terms she gives you you'll pass all of her tests.
Takes FOREVER to grade written assignments but not long at all to run scantrons and enter grades. Tests are kind of tricky and she'll ask questions out of order to try and confuse you. Know people's names and what they did. Quizlet is an excellent resource for this course.
Mrs. Jones was a very good professor. She was very clear while giving lectures and her tests are straight to the point and mainly definitions. The only thing I didn't like about her class was how long it takes for her to grade your writing assignments.
History is a very boring subject and yes the lectures are sometimes boring but she is one of the best teachers i've ever taken! I had a regular morning class and then a 3 hour night class. The night class is harder bc she usually teaches the whole time but the test are straight from the study guide. She's really nice and totally understanding!
By far my best Instructor this semester. She gives amazing lectures that are easy to understand, and if you pay attention in class the tests are just as easy.
Her lectures are very long, and boring. You will never get out of class early. Doesn't make it interesting so if you don't like history its hard to pay attention Gives pop quizzes but tells you the answers to the quiz. She only gives quizzes when a lot of people don't show up to class.
Her class is super easy, she just sucks at grading. It took over a month for our first essay to be graded. We just had our final and are still waiting on the second essay to be graded.
I would absolutely take Ms. kathy's class again! She is by far the best history professor I've had at McNeese! Her lectures are easy to follow and her passion for the subject shows. Beware of the people saying that the class is extremely easy, because it does require a bit of effort!
We never used the book except for little assignments, but if you can't afford one, she'll let you borrow hers. She is prob the best teacher at McNeese. If you show up and go to class and pay attention at least a little bit then you will make a B. Highly recommend her
She takes attendance EVERY DAY! Occasional pop quizzes that she literally gives the answers to. Lectures TO THE MINUTE that class is scheduled to end. Assigns document quizzes online as well as essays that she takes WAY TOO LONG to grade and in turn will push back the dates of other essays. Simple note taking and listening guarantees an A or B.
This class is easy if you take some notes and have some understanding of basic history. You have to show up to pass, take your quizzes online and spend 30minutes-hour doing each essay. No excuse why you shouldn't make an A in this class.
This class is an easy A. She talks the entire lecture and those notes do pop up on tests. She will give pop quizzes in class and literally TELL YOU THE ANSWERS. I made a B but only because I rarely studied.
Easy history professor but boring as anything. I'm a history major and was still bored out of my mind. Takes forever to cover one outline but as a result always shortens her tests to accommodate. Gives you an exact outline of what's on the test and puts the questions in the same order. Took 3 months to make a 2 page essay.
I usually do not like history classes, but I really enjoyed this class. Actually, I looked forward to going to this class. Very rarely did I ever stress about this class. She gives pop quizzes, but she gives you the answers. She gives essays, but they are only a page long and simple, and she tells you exactly what will be on the test.
VERY EASY. Go to class, take the notes and you have an A. She assigns a couple papers that I totally winged and still got an A on all of them.
The class was super easy. She assigned a few papers that she explained very thoroughly and then offered to proof read your rough draft for you if you emailed it to her. Tests were pretty easy if you listened in class, but she is incredibly boring. She rambles a lot and will keep talking until the very last minute of class.
I seriously loved this professor!!! Her lectures were like a story. They were interesting and easy to follow. Test were also pretty easy.
I HATE going to this class. Lectures are EXTREMELY boring and long. She gets off topic a lot, BUT she is very sweet and helpful. A very easy course to take.
Her lectures ramble and she talks LITERALLY until the last second of class. You don't need the book except for 2 essays, and if you go to class you get all the info you need for the tests. She gives easy pop quizzes and 2 tests that are easy if you study. She also proof reads your essays for you. Very nice and easy class, just extremely boring.
She's a very great professor. If you show up to class and take notes, you will have no problem passing. She gives pop quizzes when attendance is low and she gives you the answers. She assigns two essays per semester and they are fairly simple. This was the easiest class I've had all year.
Lecture-based class. Very sweet lady. Sometimes boring, depending on your interests. Tests are multi-choice and are decent as long as you take notes and review your material. I missed class 2/3 times and was scrambling to catch up- Don't miss! I don't remember extra credit, but she is helpful. Just ask her. Answers emails within 24-48 hours.
She is a great professor. Her lectures were pretty boring and you had to attend the lectures to pass the class because that was the only way to get the material for the tests. Her tests were pretty easy as long as you studied your notes. She also assigns two easy essays and there are 6 pop quizzes that she gives the answers to. Pretty easy class.
Her exams are just vocabulary. If you type in "Kathy Jones Exam _" in Quizlet everything is there. You don't even need to take notes. You're welcome! ;)
This was a really easy class. All you have to do is pay attention and you'll pass. She gives you the answers to the pop quizzes. It's boring lectures but it's worth it.
VERY sweet lady! She isn't that great at getting grades back at all. Rarely cancels class and gives 6 pop quizzes(gives answers to them), 1 essay, 10 easy document quizzes online, and two exams. (Midterm and Final)- Both are 50 questions, on scantron, and all vocabulary. I would definitely recommend taking her!
Great teacher! You can not skip class or you might miss a pop quiz! She really knows her history and is great at lecturing. I really enjoyed her class and would take her again in a heartbeat!
Would not recommend her to anyone who wants to take notes during the class, she speaks quickly and some of what she's saying confuses you. Her midterms are vocabulary but without the notes, you have to study more than 150 words and their definition.
She lectures for the whole class, which can get boring but you need the vocab for the midterm and the final. Had to write one paper which was simple and she thoroughly explained it and offered to proofread it for us. Gives pop quizzes when attendance is low, but gives answers. Overall an easy A, I would definitely recommend her.
Do not take His201!! If you have to take history take HIS202 or else you will end up with F
She will talk until you leave the door but if you follow the outline and right a few things on each word you will pass the tests. Document quizzes are super easy and her lectures are very clear. We wrote one essay in this class and it was very simple. She doesn't grade you on dates in history! I would take her again.
If you have to take History, I HIGHLY recommend taking Mrs. Kathy. She is probably one of the easiest teachers I've ever had at McNeese! Her midterm vocab terms are on Quizlet!!! She does pop quizzes when people are absent, but she gives the answers. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TAKING THIS GOD SENT GIFT OF A PROFESSOR FOR SUCH THE BORING SUBJECT! Trust me
She talks a lot but is easy to understand. She gives a total of two tests (midterm and final) and gives 5 pop up quizzes with the answers. Pretty laid back and is always helpful if you talk to her.
Overall an easy class but be ready to sit and listen to a lecture the entire time. Takes ages to grade essays and grades them just as tough as an English teacher.
By far, the most boring class I have ever taken. Luckily, you have to do the bare minimum to get an A in the class. There is a midterm, final, one essay, and weekly quizzes that are super easy. She also does pop quizzes based on attendance after the final. She's also a very easy grader for the essay, but takes a very long time to do so.
Show up to class and you will pass! If you study her study guides, then you will be fine. There is only a midterm and final with an essay in between. There are reading quizzes that must be completed every week, but the lowest two are dropped. Likes to give pop quizzes when attendance is low. Overall, very nice teacher and easy A.
There are quizlets for all of her tests and you do not really need to pay attention in her lectures. But she will give pop quizzes so you need to go to class.
Really amazing professor! She really cares about her students and the class isnt difficult at all. Two exams through the whole semester and one paper. She gives a lot of pop quizzes so I advise going to class but you can still pass without going. You have to do an online quiz once a week but its not tough. This class was a piece of cake.
Easy class! Gives pop quizzes on random days and gives you the answers basically, the pop quizzes are not manditory but they do help give you extra points!! Quizzes online every week but are super easy. Only two tests out the semester ( midterm & final ) & one essay paper. Really caring & helpful professor.
The best history professor Ive taken. She is very heavy lecture but if you listen and do the assignments then you will pass.
I would take her hands down anytime! :) She's an amazing lecturer! History is very boring but she tries to make it as interesting as possible! Take her history class! I would totally recommend! :)
She is honestly one of the best pofessors I have ever had. She doesn't make the course to hard but you still learn a lot. She gives pop quiz but if you show up to class you will pass them. She doesn't give a lot of homework either wish I could take this teacher for all my classes.
she's a pretty ok teacher. Her exams are really an easy A if you study and come to class. she gives two extra credit opportunities. Only complaints would be her lectures are very boring and she takes a ridiculously long time to put grades in. however her class is not difficult to pass at all.
Her class is one of the most irritating classes because she talks about everything and nothing and is very slow in movement and speaking. She is very loopy. She has taken almost two months to grade our essay and group discussions. If you actually study, the tests are easy. There are only two: midterm and final. As well as 9 online quizzes.
Great professor! The class is 100% lecture and they are not posted online. Only two exams, two essays, nine online document quizzes (workbook needed), and about six pop quizzes (super easy). Really recommend!
Mrs. Jones was a super easy teacher. She gave online quizzes every week and only gave 2 tests throughout the semester. She did 2 online discussions and 2 essays. The only other grades were pop quizzes given if attendance was low that day. She gives the answers for the pop quizzes though. She also offers extra credit. Overall, she is a great teacher
Professor Jones is a very easy professor and the class is not difficult. She has tons of assignments., online quizzes, in class quizzes, discussion forums, essays, and exams. She is so hard to get in contact with. She takes FOREVER to grade things and She ended up dropping assignments we completed. We still have 11 not graded 1 day before finals.
She was great, pop quizzes were given when attendance was low but she would literally give you the answers. There were two papers we had to write and only two tests, the final and midterm which were all multiple choice.
Dr. Jones is an easy professor! She does not give a heavy work load at all. If you do well on your quizzes and write your essays, you will pass her class. This is a lecture class, but I recommend it. I would take her again!
Prof. Jones is one of the best history teachers I ever had. Her class mainly consists of lectures, as well as essays, document quizzes, discussions, and pop quizzes. However, she only gave us one pop quiz this semester. Her lectures are good ones because she is very clear and easy to understand. Highly recommended!
We have a lot of time to prepare for assignments.
Gives you everything you need to pass, you just need to study and do your assignment. Lots of time to do both, lots of opportunities for extra credit.
shes an amazing professor just not my favorite style of teaching. 3 exams, 1 essay, a final, and a few discussion posts. also does extra credit. lectures from start to end of class
Genuinely a really good professor and provides all tools to make an A in the class. I ended with a C but it was due to me not putting in the effort. If you study, utilize the tools she gives, and do extra credit, you will be good.
Ms. Kathy is an amazing professor! She is very caring and understanding if personal issues arise as long as you reach out to her. She allowed me extra time to complete my first test when my daughter was hospitalized. Only thing I will say is that her test's study material includes between 200-300+ terms for each test. Only 3 main tests though.
She was very nice and gave quality information in her lectures, however, test questions were complex and derived from the multitude of weekly readings rather than the lecture itself. I must emphasize that memorization was how to pass the class rather than actually learning the information.
I took her online class and had some things come up that caused my grade to decline, very helpful in telling me what I needed to do to bring it up and offered extra credit. gave an easy assignment every week or so. tests can be challenging, but as long as you read the docs and study her lecture notes you will pass (i got A's and B's on all tests)
The assignments are few, but when you do have them for the week they can take time, she also grades hard and does not believe in perfect scores. For the exams, make sure you study, study, study. They have 200+ terms per exam and are a major part of your grade. make quilts or notecards for the terms because you're going to need them.
Avoid if possible. Only 3 tests to cover massive chapters. Exams (only 50 questions) require studying 200+ undefined terms (like names with no context). Journal entries docked for missing info not mentioned in instructions. Unclear expectations & a ton of work for very little payoff.
This lady just talks the whole class and expects you to go home and read a lot of documents, and then she wants you to define 100+ terms after every class, possibly the worst history professor I have ever had
Prof. Jones' HIS202 class is pretty straightforward. Lectures can be dry, but the assignments and exams are manageable if you stay on top of the material. Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for preparing for the 200+ term exams.
Professor Jones is great on making sure you have the lectures and lecture notes that you need but tests are difficult for how much they are worth because they cover SO MUCH at a time. Online test ARE PROCTORED. Many people I know who have taken her did not do well in the class. Be prepared to spend some time studying.
She's okay. 3 major exams,(lots of terms!) 5 open notes quizzes, 1 essay at the end of the semester, and 2 discussion boards (that she takes forever to grade btw). Normally 1-2 weeks between each assignment and she never assigned more than 2 at a time. Honestly all you need is the notes and sometimes the textbook, and you'll do just fine.
I don't agree with most of these reviews. From taking her class I think she is an exceptional instructor, she is extremely understanding. Yes, she does make a study guide with 150-200 terms. However, the tests are only 50 questions. Just make sure you study and you will do just fine.
professor isnt very great, took her online class, and the exams were not hard. But the study guides are terrible.
