Her explaination may not be as good as some teachers and her exams may not be that easy. However, I find her quite helpful and when u ask her 1-1, she explains really clear.

I took 1B from a very easy instructor - and he was! I got an A in the class and really didn't learn a thing. I decided to take it again from Ms. Perino and I'm so glad. She's tough, but clear and fair. I feel much more prepared for higher math classes now

WHo is this young male that keeps writing reviews? Sheesh. As a young male, I can honestly say that Kathy is a great teacher and has always treated me with fairness and respect. Not easy, but fair. You'll learn a lot.

She's a very clear, helpful instructor. If anyone has a question, she'll make sure that person is answered and understands before she continues on. Her focus is on everyone understanding the work. :) Recommended.

Ms Perino is a very helpful teacher. I don't understand what all of these negative reviews are about- they are probably just students who are not taking responsibility for their own performance. The teacher is not responsible for your grade - you are !

I took this class three times. The first time with another teacher. The second time with her and I withdrew. THe third time I did well. You can do well if you work hard. The only reason why I didn't do well the first time was b/c I didn't study. Take her if you are willing to work hard.

She is a very nice teacher. Her class is clear and understandable.But the quizs and tests are much more difficult than other instructors. If you want to challenge yourself, I will recommend her.

she is a great teacher! she has no problem helping out anyone if they dont understand.just do your work and "SHOW YOUR WORK" and dont miss any classes then you will be fine. i would recomend her

She is a good teacher. I would take her again. Do ALL the homework she assignes. Do ALL the review exercises too. The Final exam and sometimes quizzes will be from the review sections!

her lectures are EXTRA CLEAR. I think she explains math better than any professor i've had in my life. Do her hwk! the only teacher that gives points for hwk. DO HWK, STUDY GUIDES, & REVIEW QUIZ & ANSWER SHEETS, AND YOU'LL easily get an A. She's pretty funny too, that's hard to find in a math teacher. she loves her job and helping students too.

Best math teacher I have ever had. Clearly explains every problem. Is not afraid to go back and review the algebra needed for Calc problems. Very helpful. Only downside is the difficult quizzes.

She's cool. Not showy like Mr. Sawka (He's a great teacher though). But her exams are a bit tough.

Take her. Kind & gifted teacher, great at explaining, simplifies everything, v easy to deal with. Her exams are long & hard but saying she's not sympathetic or helpful is scurrilous. She's no pushover. She's sympathetic if you are trying. She spent a whole hour with me at the start of the qtr summarizing trig bc I hadn't taken it. Terrific teacher!

She's a cool and really nice teacher that explains everything well and clearly, I didn't get any of this math stuff untill I had her as a teacher. When you need help her door is always open.

She is pretty clear in her lectures. She allows a notecard on each test and a whole page of notes on the final!

perino is great-very clear, very helpful, very nice teacher...this class has 3 exams and many short quizzes, and hw is 10% of the grade...if you score better on the final exam than on one the three exams, it replaces your lowest exam score...this class was great for me and i got an A...i would definitely take a class with perino again

Not a fan of Trig.However, I do know from experience Mrs. Perino is one of the few that can do more than just apply it! She is helpful. Raise your hand in class and ask questions. A lot of work but it's required by Foothill for the class. Hours are also not her fault. Please stop bad mouthing her and be positive & accountable. It's COLLEGE!

She teaches the material very well. Her test can be hard to follow basically pay attention and look over the test a bunch. She doesn't give enough time for test and quizzes.

The best teacher I've experiences in foothill.There're some online homework which some people may think it's too much ,but it's all okay for me. You can ask questions anytime, she'll reply yr mail as soon as posible and try her best to help. Easy tests and exams.!

I have taken her for 2 quarters and up to this point she is my FAVORITE professor at Foothill.

she is really good and her method of teaching makes the material all the more easier and fun..sometimes. work hard on ur take home quizzes and homwork..they matter! midterms n final are good wer u can drop the lowest. attend everyday for ur own good and ul sail through smoothely.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR MATH 51.

Awesome awesome math teacher. The best math teacher I have had. She will do everything in her power to help you and will try different teaching methods. People that complain about her must be lazy and expect an easy A. If you are in college to LEARN, then take Ms. Perino!!!

One of the best professors I have ever had. She truly loves what she does and it shows. She goes out of her way to give you one on one time and explain to you whatever you may not understand. Does not give up on you and never makes you feel stupid. I am horrible in math, but thanks to her I walked out of her class knowledgeable and confident.

She is probaly the best math teacher I have ever had. She is very clear and great at what she does. Try to not miss any class because there is something new everyday. The online quizzes are the hardest thing; the hw and exams are pretty easy plus she drops your lowest quiz score.

Coming back to college after 25 years and 30 years since a math class, I, frankly, was completely unsure I could do it. This was a class I'd previously had in the 8th grade! Kathy is a wonder of patience, fun and stunning skill. Contrary to any bad comments she has never been late to either 220, nor now, 105. Always well groomed. I LOVE her! *!*!*!

Kathy is great, it's no wonder that she was chosen to work on the math basics teaching program with the Gates Foundation. Kathy is clear, takes the time to really explain things well and though extremely busy, always had time after class for a quick review of the day's material. Kathy is great using innovative ways to teach math. Choose her!

TAKE THIS TEACHER SHE IS THE BEST FOR INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA. DO NOT TAKE QRESHI hes horrible. She is very clear about what is on the test she gives sample mock exams that are very similar to her exams. She will give partial credit if you show your work. Lots of online hw but she posted it in advance=very helpful. Arrange ur whole sched to take her.

Mrs. Perino was, by far, the best mathematics teacher I have ever had. She cares for her students success, is very funny in class, and is willing to go the extra mile to help you understand a concept. If you want a teacher that inspires you, believes in you, and makes you want to come to class, choose Kathy Perino. She is a rare example of an absolutely wonderful teacher.

I returned to school after many years and was having a terrible time with Algebra. Kathy was awsome in the classroom and made herself available when help was needed. I bet the one's that complain don't come to class or don't do the homework.

Kathy is a great teacher. I've always struggled in math and she helps as much as she possibly can and makes everything so much easier. I almost thought this class was too easy because of her. She's a sweetheart, I definitely recommend her!

I took this class on the Fall 2014, teacher made the class easy to understand, even for me, a busy mother of 3, business owner and full time student. I would take it again, I have not taken a math class in almost 14 years and she made it easy. Lot of homework but that is the only way you will learn, do it and go to class if you want to pass.

I love Kathy! She's such a great teacher that was really clear about the lesson she's going to teach. I usually struggle in math, but she helped me big time to understand it. There's homework 3x a week and online quizzes about the chapter overall, which I found incredibly helpful. I definitely recommend taking her! :)

I have never felt confident in a math class until I registered for this class. Kathy is super helpful and clear on her lessons, instructions and always makes sure you know the material. She also gives review sheets for tests which is a plus! Expect homework and quizzes (every class) but you can work with your class mates and they are pretty easy.

Professor Perino is the best! She's kind, helpful and you'll probably want to take her class again. We rarely used the textbook because she made the lectures clear and we mostly turned in our homework online. She makes sure you understand the material and while sometimes let you ask for help from your fellow classmates before you submit a quiz.

She's nice in the sense, you get to double check your answers on a quiz at times with others before turning it in. She tries to cover every minute detail about a topic. NEVER MISS CLASS, she teaches a different topic every class.

I think Kathy is a pretty good teacher. She tries to make the class fun & incorporate a lot of relatable examples to her teaching so her students could understand it better. I never skipped class but skipping a lot won't help you. She doesn't give that much homework but she does give in class work & quizzes sometimes! She has clear grading criteria

She made this class very easy and uses really great examples to help you better grasp the lessons. I failed this class before and with her I aced it.

I think Perino is a fantastic instructor. In fact I took her class for both math 105 & 220. She makes an otherwise difficult and not so fun subject interesting and much easier to understand. I believe she is the main reason I was able to pass this class, I highly recommend!

I took her algebra classes over 2 years ago so my review may be a little vague. Overall, I liked her. Doing the online HW made me understand the concepts better. But, there was a lot of it. Also, there were quizzes in class almost every day. What you need to understand is these classes are non transferable. Just get a passing grade and move on.

Math is definitely my worst subject. Just give me a passing grade and I am good! Perino's lectures are very clear and engaging. She's very approachable and can be funny at times. Can't say that I love math but I didn't mind going to her class. Recommend Perino!

There is definitely a lot of homework. Be prepared to have homework and quizzes due on multiple days a week. It's still very doable, and I do feel I learned a lot from this class. Perino is accessible, and it's easy to get an A if you sit down and put in work a few times a week. Go for it! I really like their structure (and I don't like math).

Professor Perino's class has LOTS of homework, but if you stay up to date, it's manageable. If you don't, she graciously allows for partial credit of all homework assignments to the end date of the quarter, which saved me. You can't fail the midterm/final if you prep, as you have a cheat sheet & otherwise very easy if you know the subject matter.

Study the review sheet and do all the homework. 48C is inherently a difficult class with tons of content; Professor Perino teaches it in a fun and energetic way. She's also great at hammering in concepts and answering questions in a way that's easy to understand. Absolutely fantastic professor, take her for 48C and thank me later.

I had to take 48C again and luckily professor perino got me through it. She does have a lot of homework and quizzes but they boost your grade by a good amount. Her lectures are easy to follow and you can tell she cares about her students and help them understand difficult topics. Shes one of the better math teachers here.

Awesome professor! 48C can be challenging for many but she teaches and explains very thoroughly. Lots of homework but if you do it then you are well prepared for tests. Tests are long but very fair. Ask questions; she is super willing to help you in and out of class. You can buy the textbook but I did not and only used class notes and got an A.

I would really recommend Kathy's classes. She makes sure you understand the subject and also is very understanding of difficulties and late homework. There is a lot of homework, worksheets, quizzes, and things but they are manageable. She's also funny and is always open to helping you.

I took her class Spring quarter before everything closed. It was a hybrid class, super nice and understanding. She makes sure that everyone understands before moving on. The homework was not too much of a problem as long as you study her notes that she gave us. If you're having trouble, ask her and she'll help you! She's also funny too, take her!

I took Professor Perino for Math48C in 2020. She is an excellent professor as well as a kind, understanding person. 100% would recommend.

I'm not sure what the bad posts here are talking about. This wasn't my experience with her at all. She's a phenomenal teacher. 100% rec. She'll walk you through what you did wrong if needed, give you a real life application to help you think of it differently too. I'm usually great at math and got a C+ only because I missed some classes for work.

She is the best teacher I've ever had! She gives weekly quizzes that you can take twice and you are aloud to use your notes for those. For lectures, it would be a good idea to attend class and actually take notes along with her because most of the examples in the lectures are in your homework, quizzes, and tests. Overall, I felt the class was easy.

Kathy was clear about what she expected students to learn, but tests were a bit difficult. If you struggle at math you might have to invest more time into this class than you expect. Homework is due as you want; there are unlimited extensions but be sure to pace yourself. Honestly, a kind caring teacher that values your input into the class.

Kathy is a kind professor who values student input. While tests can be tricky, the class is manageable with regular attendance and using resources like Unstuckstudy for study prep. The weekly quizzes are a helpful learning tool.
