There is ton of material for this course. It was hard but she did a very good job of providing good information in her lecture notes. She was also very helpful, but the exams were rather hard. You have to study alot!
If you have taken any astronomy in the past...this is a very basic class. Tests are sort of challenging. LOTS of extra credit though.
Doe not take attendance bu there is a Quiz every week except for exam weeks. Her study guides are pretty helpful. Exams are pretty hard. Make sure you use the study guides and take advantage of all the extra credit and you'll get an A.
She's very interested in Astronomy. She teaches straight from the book and provides power-points online. Some people think she has an annoying voice, but I didn't really notice. If you go to class and skim the book then the tests are cake.
Awesome teacher, so helfpul and funny! She made me want to go to physics class!
way better than last physics teachers. Easy to follow and explained very well.
Kathy Shan is the best! A great teacher for physics. Do your HW problems, and the quizez and test are identical to the hw problems, gives a lot of extra credit. A very great physics class, you just need to do your work
She was extremely helpful - took her class after dropping out the year before with another prof. She was so much better and knows her stuff. Highly recommend her!!
For a hard class that is Physics II, she made it a lot easier. Gives out good notes, and offers help with the HW problems too. Tests are moderately hard, but she gives a lot of extra credit and curves too. I recommend her.
Pay attention to notes. Gives study guides for all tests (including the final). You must go to both the observatory and the planetarium during this course (ASTR 1010). Offers extra credit. Very helpful professor.
Kathy knows Physics like the back of her hand, but she cannot teach it if her life depended on it.
no one in class took her seriously and no one paid attention either. its the easiest class to cheat in and trust me EVERYONE cheats in that class. if you dont your screwed
Kathy is a EXCELLENT teacher (as long as you aren't an inconsiderate prick - which many of my fellow classmates were)! It helps if you stop texting and pay attention folks. She is very down to earth and very eager to help you with homework and general understanding of the material. Just visit her office hours if you have questions. Great teacher!
Good teacher did really use the book. clear in class online notes. easy homework and extra credit
Her lectures kept my attention well enough. She was not helpful in office hours. I did not understand a problem and she would not help me because i did not have specific questions. I heard she got better with helping students but after visiting once I was scared away.
This class was OK, I didn't read the book just went to class and took notes, didnt study for tests very much and got a B and this was the first time i've done any physics. Pretty easy class. Kathy did demonstrations in class that helped, she does not take attendance
Had to withdraw. She would tell us what the tests would consist of and I would study the material, however, this material was usually not on the test in such large amounts like she made it seem.
She simply isn't a talented teacher.
Very good teacher. Gives hard homework and quizes but you can get help. Tests mirror homework a lot. You have to put in work but overall it was a good class. She is also a very nice lady but you do have to work.
She's an amazing professor! If you need help, just go to her office hours and she'll explain everything to you.
This is a pretty cool class! I like that the information given is easily related to the real word. She is helpful, explains things well and gives cool demos in class. Weekly homework assignments and a term paper at the end. My only problem was the tests... Only 30 questions, so study! Some questions are phrased weird, use the homework as a guide.
Quite clear in class, makes it possible to get a fairly easy A without buying the book or attending many lectures.
Very hard class. Need a lot of attention. She asked for a lot of things such as 2 textbook, clicker, and buy an account on an astronomy website.
I Thought this professor was extremely challanging as did eveyone else in my class. I don't know why everyone on this site seems to think other wise. Take Scott Lee if you need Physics at UT.
In theory, this class isn't difficult. She gives you all the info you need for exams and lots of extra credit opportunities. It's still hard though if you don't study. You really need to work at it to get a good grade.
I really like Prof. Shan. She is always willing to help with homework or any questions. Offers a lot of extra credit, and half of final is take home. Of course Physics is hard, so exams will be. I was getting mostly C's on exams and got an A- in the class. Do all the work and study, as you should and you will do well.
Worst class of my college career. She was way to hard to an elective. you have to work very hard to get a good grade in her class. Tests were very hard. this teacher is not understanding at all. I hated her class and I couldn't stand her personality. She even commented she enjoyed giving students a hard time. Passing rate was very low for my class
If you can deal with constant condescension and a voice that rivals a soldering iron in terms of pain induced on contact with eardrums, this class isn't too bad.
Tookher for eng. physics. She is horrible at relaying information to students, barely learned anything. She would tell the concepts on the exam but it was useless because she did a horrible job of teaching the them in the first place. The class average for each midterm was low and got lower with each one. Then she yelled atthe class for doing sobad.
Kathy just simply cannot teach Engineering Physics. Says she sometimes gets lost with the math but it is a calculus based physics class! Avoid if possible! (No extra credit or curves FYI)
Not even a physicist, she has a PhD in education and her teaching reflects that. The questions on her tests and quizzes are very ambiguous. Simply put she's just not a good professor.
No math was taught in this course! It was all concepts presented in a bizarre way. Highly recommend you avoid this instructor!
THE WORST PROFESSOR EVER!!!!!!!!! She is all over the place in lecture for her notes, her exams are impossible, and she takes FOREVER to grade things. She completely screwed up my entire final grade for physics and said I for an F when I should have gotten a C. AVOID this professor at all cost!!
Worst teacher. Went to her for help and she ignored my request. I am an "A" student and failed this class for the first time. Would not recommend. She doesn't care about students or hurting a 4.0 student with a failing grade. Tests were difficult and lectures confusing.
She likes to talk about anything in lecture other than Physics. It's easy to get her off topic and she expects everyone to know the topic of discussion. I'd avoid her at all costs. She's a nice person, but a terrible professor
Worst professor I have had at UT. She doesn''t lecture flies through her slides and doesn''t explain her material until after quizzesexams. She expects you to teach each other so she doesn''t have to do anything. DO NOT TAKE HER UNLESS YOU HAVE TO.
Do not take her for Astronomy, from day one you will have no clue what is going on, and you only get more lost from there. She is a concise person, but does not convey her ideas to students, therefore, they are almost impossible to learn. Moderately approachable, but not overly warm or willing to help you outside of class. I had to grade replace.
I literally learned nothing in this class at all, nothing... Any knowledge I had was from AP Physics I took my junior year of high school. Explains mechanics in such a bizarre way and every question is a trick question. I even hear her PhD is in education not Physics so I have no idea why she is teaching engineering physics. AVOID AVOID AVOID!
She focuses on the concepts instead of applying the concepts via equations. Therefore problems with calculations seem difficult and convoluted. Generally having taken any form of physics previously will not give you an edge. She states that she wants the majority of the class to get C's; if you are an all A's person, try to find another section.
I took this class online and found it interesting and not to difficult. I was a little confused on some of the grading and lost some unnecessary points but that could be my fault. had a short quiz (homework) every week, not hard, and several test through out which wernt hard if you read the material. I got a B+. does the + matter?
Was a very nice professor with easy assignments, but the tests were incredibly difficult. Many questions came off of the homework, but she did not teach the test material in class, instead showing planetarium shows. Although it was an interesting class, I had to teach myself and really struggled during tests.
Mrs Kathy is a great teacher. She makes you interact with other students in class so you know how they solve the problem then she asks our opinion and how we solved it, after that she will tell us her opinion and how to solve it even if we were right she will still explain. But you have to read and do HWs so you can keep up with her.
Shan is a great teacher! She explains the material really well and uses live demonstrations, which is fun. There is a lot of class participation (clickers, discussion), but it makes class interesting. Exams are very reasonable and she tells you what is on itwhat to study. She does expect you to put in the work, but if you do, you will do well.
I really liked Kathy. I learned a lot in the class and thought that she did a great job of keeping the students involved and interested. She makes the class very difficult if you don't put in a massive amount of effort and pretty difficult for those who do. However, you learn a lot about the material if you are willing to put in the work.
her tests are impossible , average grade is usually a d- or 58-62 range, homework and labs are 50% of your grade so you should recieve a C-, you have to be a genius to recieve anything above, you might get lucky and get a C+ and the class is 5 credits, in other words your GPA is ruined, good luck.
I would say that I would not recommend her but she is really the only PHYS 2130 teacher so you'll be stuck with her. Doesn't show any math-based problems (not sure she knows how) and only explains concepts. It's like her whole class was scripted so everyone gets a C. WileyPlus HW is all crazy math problems that she cant even do. God speed.
Her tests are impossible. I received a 66% on my first exam, so I asked her specifically what I should do to study. She told me to do the practice problems and check my answers. I did that; I corrected the ones that were wrong, redid them, and memorized every concept. I studied for ten hours and got a 55% on the next test. Don't take her!!!!
She doesn't show up to lecture, she makes her TA teach. She is far from understanding. Her class is online base so it's fairly easy. But like I said don't expect to learn anything from her. She's there as the same reason you are.. You have to be. She's not great at actually educating students.
Decent professor, make sure to do all little assignments because it adds a huge amount to the final grade. If your a lazy student then don't take her.
Her class made no sense. I had to take this class. I am not good in anything science, but she expects you to know all there is to know about the universe. She never explained anything well. I bought the expensive textbook and never read it one time. All her little assistant did was do the dome show that was it for the day.
A lot of students say it's hard to get a good grade in this class. I disagree, if you do all the work, you will get a good grade. I wouldn't say I'm an exceptionally smart student, but I got a B+. I only took her for physics 1 though, which is much easier than physics 2. Grading criteria is quite clear. My grade ended up higher than I thought.
Idk why kathy is teaching at UT. She belongs teaching graduate students at MIT. Very structured class. Offered me a great foundation in physics. I loved how she performed demos in class. Seriously helps to learn the conceptual side of physics. Also, does a great job integrating different units together and connecting equations. Loved the class.
Her tests are difficult but 50% of your grade is from homework and prelecture. I got C's on all of my tests and got an A- because I did all my homework. She's always willing to help. Take Honors if you can because she helps you out even more. A group project replaces one of your exam grades if you're in Honors.
Took the online class, homework (around 20 questions) and exams and based on the homework and book reading. If you study you're gonna get a good grade, if you don't it's hard to understand. She didn't give any extra credit.
The book is very necessary, you'll need it. She gives homeworks every week at least with 20 questions each. Test are hard if you don't take the time to study for it. She does not give extra credit, I went to her office and asked her nicely, but nothing..
She tries somewhat to teach, but expects everyone to just know it and learn it right away. Goes over hugely long conceptional examples for most lectures and then out of nowhere, here is homework which is all mathmatical. Had no idea how to do most of these and but could find answers on yahoo. Overall, it is either her or Dileep so not good choices.
Everything in this class is great. You learn a lot and it isn't boring. Kathy really knows her stuff and hardly ever corrects herself. Her algebra is on point and easy to read. Her exams (her honors exams at least) are extremely challenging. But very doable! If you study and pay attention in class and do lots of practice, you will get an A for sure
Lectures were good. Demonstrations were sometimes brought in to help explain concepts. Clickers were used often. Exams were difficult, but there are plenty of ways to make points via lab/clickers/homework (online and offline). Also, the grading scale is a bit larger so a B+ in another class would be an A- here.
She's the worst Prof I have ever had.
Good professor. Physics is hard that's not her fault. She tends to speed through lectures. Honors exams were hard af. Make sure to let her know if you don't understand she'll work with you. Got to her office hours!
I took her Honors section. A researcher paper is 10% of your grade. 50% of the class is participation, homework, and lab. If you have to take Physics 2 TAKE HER HONORS SECTION. She gives extra credit opportunities and a take home final. The 2 midterms she gives are HARD but there's opportunity to make up points. Won't give lower than B.
Kathy spends more time with lecture and less on actual example problems that correspond to the lecture. Without example problems, doing the Wiley homework becomes a pain because you don't know what you're doing despite going to lecture. Her test are hard and there's no good way to study for them. She does give extra credit. Avoid if possible.
Kathy rushes way to fast through lectures. Doesn't spend enough time explaining how to do concepts. Seems to only care about getting through her power points. Test are extremely hard, very hard to study for them because she doesn't explain concepts well. Learned more from my recitation TA and lab instructor than her. Take someone else if possible.
I took her honors section and have no regrets. Lab, homework, and participation are 50% of your grade. 30% of your grades are three midterms, which are HARD, but she replaces the lowest grade with a video project. The last 20% of your grade is a take home final. She is a good physics professor. Three days a week are lecture, two days practice.
Kathy knows the material very well. Physics is not meant to be an easy class by any means. It is important to have a professor who knows their stuff, and she does. She may seem viscous at first, but that is only to set the tone of no horseplay form the early days of the course. After some time she chills out and appears to be human. Would recommend
Great Professor, just difficult
Great professor overall. Weighs her grades to ensure an easy C but super hard A. Have to expect this for a 5 credit hour course. In class points for clicker questions and quizzes. Exams are difficult. Knows her material and would definitely take again.
She tries really hard to keep her classes interesting, and if you're one of her honors students, she really takes care of you. Not saying that it's a cakewalk, though. Still, I very much enjoyed having her as a professor.
This is my second semester taking honors physics with Kathy. Her tests are hard, but only worth 40% of the grade (Two tests at 10% each, and 20% final). I got an average of 50% on all of them and still got an A- in the class. She is a good teacher who really gives her students every chance to do well. 60% of the grade is basically participation.
Professor Shan is an awesome professor. She works with you and will help explain things to you. She works with my accommodations too. She is just awesome. The only bad thing about her class is the amount of homework on Flipit Physics. It took me way longer than the others. Also Flipit Physics is picky.
Teaches conceptually. Usually would not do any problems in class. Lots of homework on flipitphysics. Didn't didn't her teaching style at all. It was also kind of hard to get to her during her short office hours because so many students had questions and Issues they were trying to fix. I think this shows that there are prlems with her teaching style
Kathy is a good teacher but physics is really hard and there is so much material to remember. There is a lot of homework. Quiz every week. Exams are super difficult but if you do the extra credit you can get 15% higher grade on each one. As she says "Easy C, hard A." Also very interesting to talk to at office hours!
Kathy is great
Kathy is very good. Physics is really hard. Personally, I think she made her exams way too difficult. Specifically, her final is super hard. However, if you do the flipit homework, pre lectures, and lab, and do poorly on the exams, you will pass easily. Needless to say, its a hard A, but an easy C.
She is an ok person. Exams were hard, even if you studied a lot. Very conceptual. INSANE amount of homework. You MUST be willing to work. Didn't seem to help very much in office hours, would explain things the exact same as during lecture. Quizzes every week, usually 1 day after the new stuff. She's better than other profs though, speaks English.
Other than the first midterm being a real kicker, and the online homework not corresponding well to the lectures. It was an intense, but enlightening time. I learned a lot more than just the physics that was taught. I also learned how to study and plan properly. I enjoyed the class and respect the heck out of the professor.
I took the honors section, and I would definitely recommend it. Shes very understanding and gives you a break if she sees youre putting in the effort. Things like homework, lab, and extra credit helped me get a B even though my exam grades werent great. Talk to her outside of class if youre struggling because she actually wants to help.
Explains the concepts very well and grades fairly. Prelectures and in class questions are useful.
Students should recognize physics is going to be flat out tough unless you are a physics major or have prior knowledge. That being said, you cant expect the professor to teach you everything. This is college you have to take responsibility for your own learning. Professor Shan does a good job at giving relevant examples & is open for office hours.
terrible class doesnt explain very well expects you to know things quickly. recitation ta will teach u things differently than how u learn in class. so confusing
Best professor ever. Really approachable and tries to make sure we all understand the material.
If every professor at The University of Toledo taught to the caliber that this class was it would be a service to us all. If I could take Kathy Shan for every class I ever need to take for the rest of my life I would.
This class is actually the worse thing to happen to me in my entire life. You have so much homework you cant even take time to cry yourself to sleep. There is recitation homework there is online homework this is stupid pre lectures every single MWF. If you want to take physics and not learn a SINGLE thing then this is your class.
This is my second time taking a class with Kathy, and overall she's one of the better physics professors at UT. She does want students to do well, but to me there is a clear disconnect present when exam averages are no higher than a D. Do the "easy points" and you'll pass, but without pain or natural aptitude good luck getting an A.
Overall I liked Kathy as a professor, but her tests are way too difficult. The averages for the exams were in the 50-60% range and while extra credit was given I feel as if that is a poor way to test your students. Sorry Kathy, Yunsic Shim is cooler.
So many people say not to take Kathy. TAKE HER. All the lectures take the same exam, but Kathy's lectures do better because she is a better teacher. PHYS II is difficult; there's no way around it. She's the best you're going to get at UT. Yes, her test averages are very low, but she makes up for it with extra credit.
Fantastic professor. I wish she taught more classes that would benefit my major. I doubt there is a better teacher at UT.
It is clear that Dr. Shan has put a great amount of effort and thought into her teaching methods. Each day, she is well-prepared, with lectures and activities that rely heavily on group work. This is great because it forces students to learn the material and be able to apply it in any situation. The quizzes and exams were challenging, yet fair.
She is obviously very educated and I think she means well, but her class is horrible. So much homework. Very difficult topic in general. Her exams are the worst things Ive ever taken. Averages are usually in the 60s.
Kathy knows what she is talking about, but she doesn't realize that physics isn't second nature to everyone. There is way too much homework, class pace is ridiculously fast, so if you want to take a class and not learn anything then take her.
Good professor
Kathy is a really good professor. If you just ask for help, she will go out of her way to help. She normally gets a bad rap for some reason, but she is not bad.
Learn fast! You need to be a fast quiz and test taker. I failed both midterms horribly and most quizzes. But I showed up to class, did really well on hw and prelectures. The final will help you out because you have more time to think about your responses. This class is not easy no matter who you take.
Physics is hard in general no matter who you take! Kathy makes it the easiest she can and generally wants you to understand and pass! She sets up the class to where you can get a 50% on midterms and finals and still pass with a C! Great during office hours, make sure you take notes and show up and you will be fine! She's your best option for physics
Class is difficult overall, but the way she explains concepts is awesome. If you really wanna learn Ms. Kathy is best Physics professor at UT. P.S. If you attend class & complete assignments on time, it is not that hard to get an A.
Never in a million years did I think I would ever be able to pass Physics, let alone get an A, but Kathy did a great job of breaking things down. Participation matters, there's a program like clickers she uses that I wasn't fond of, but as long as you answer you get full point. Physics is the worst, but she made it bearable!
Best at UT. She has good lectures, and the exams are hard. You really need to spend time outside of the class to make sure you understand what is going on in the class. If you put in the work outside of what she assigns and attempt to understand the material, youll get a good grade.
Claims that the physics is more important than the correct answer, then only gives credit if you get the exact answer, with no partial credit. Doesn't cover anything in lecture, just asks questions about what you managed to figure out on your own. Don't expect any of your questions about the material to get an answer.
Prof. Shan is amazing! I really struggle with this class but Kathy made sure it was passable no matter how difficult it may be for a student. She is very personable and funny, makes lectures interesting, and cares for her students overall.
Kathy has been an amazing professor both times I've had her. Physics is something I have always had a difficult time with, but Kathy helped and made sure her class is able to be passed by anyone. I respect her and think she is great at her job! I cannot recommend her enough.
Really nothing happens in class. Little notes, basic example problems graded by participation. Expects you to watch half hour lecture videos on top of scheduled lectures. HW and exam problems WAY harder than examples from class. IDK why she doesnt teach in lectures instead of other videos u have to watch. Makes things way harder than they have 2 be
Fantastic professor and passionate about her work. She will strive to make sure all of her students understand the material. Lots of chances to bring up your grade all throughout the semester. Physics is way easier to understand with Kathy as your professor. Highly recommend taking her if you can.
Took her for PHYS2130, didn't like her for that class. But then again, that was everyone's first entirely online semester. I took her again this semester and she's honestly the nicest professor at the entire university, hands down. It's Physics, so expect to struggle often, but at least you'll have a very nice lecturer who is super understanding.
Kathy is the best physics lecturer you'll find at UT. Physics 2 is hard but she provided a lot of work to practice. But she makes you watch these 30-minute pre-lecture videos that take an hour to take notes on before every class. Not sure why she doesn't just teach it during lecture since the practice we do instead wasn't all that helpful. Not bad.
Dr. Kathy says that this class is an easy C but a hard A. Homework is rather easy and there are pre-lectures that you need to do that will sharpen your skills. Do be wary about the tests since those are incredibly hard, I highly encourage that you do as many practice problems as you can find to prepare for this. She also created a discord server :D
I took Kathy for 2130/2140. She has been great and was always helpful. You can tell that she actually cares about her students well being too. My only complaint would be that the mastering physics system can sometimes be annoying during tests because the questions are not fair considering what we learned in class and what the homeworks were over.
The lecture notes given out are copies of the slideshows presented in the lecture videos. This is a fine system, except for the fact that whole sections of the lecture notes dont get a video for them. They are glossed over and you are left to interpret the notes by yourself. With this being an asynchronous class, this absolutely sucks.
The entire class is taught through mastering physics; that includes exams, quizzes, homework,pre-lectures. The only teaching she does is through her pre-lecture videos, that is the extent of her teaching. During class all she does is go over practice problems. The exams and quizzes are awfully worded and youre graded by answer not by the work.
I would have gotten an A if I had gone to class, but even with missing a few lectures, I was able to get an A-. I took this course over the summer in 6 weeks, which I enjoyed because it was quick and easy. Her exams are 18 multiple choice with 2 written answer questions. The multiple choice is straightforward and easy. The written is difficult.
Dr. Shan was honestly a life saver for me. I had COVID at the start of the semester and ended up with lingering fatigue/brain fog, but she worked with me individually during office hours to ensure that I was able to keep up and pass the class. I don't understand the complains about her lectures, I learned so much. Taking her again for 2140!
Kathy Shan is an incredible professor. Physics is a tough topic, but she manages to use demonstrations with both objects and herself to help you visualize the concepts. 10/10 take her if you can.
Her online lecture recordings were very helpful. She also stuck to a schedule that she gave out at the beginning of the semester. Would've definitely taken her class for the second physics if she had a section available.
My favorite professor from this semester. The class itself is a bit difficult, but with her it is much better. She is also very chill in general and I generally liked her class. I highly suggest you do not skip a single lecture with her, as much content is covered in a short amount of time.
This is one of the worst organized classes I have ever been in. Having pre-lectures and then learning the same thing again in class and it still not applying to the in-class questions and online questions is absolutely mental. But she does not actually teach the material that is important to the exams and homework. Do not take!
Dr. Shan stepped in mid semester when our original professor quit! She presented the material in a much better way than the quitting professor. Honestly, she saved me by taking over. After stepping in to this course, she was voted for by students and received distinguished lecturer award.
Dr Shan is one of the best physics profs in the entire department, personally, I recommend moving your entire schedule around if you cannot get her.
Kathy is not a good lecturer. She constantly gets sidetracked with other students during a lecture and has a completely unrelated conversation mid lecture. She says things that would make anyone uncomfortable like, "my cousin is a twink", "im on the spectrum", etc.. All the material on the learning catalytics (attendance) is nothing like the exam
I'm glad I get to take her again for 2140. She's a great professor and her classes are fun. I like the way she structures her classes. As long as you do the homework, you'll be able to do the exams. Also, show up for the practice sessions, they help!
Physics 1 and 2 can be difficult but Cathy is your best option at UT. Always answers questions, good office hours, clear instructions.
If I could give her a 3.5, I would. She's extremely nice, wants you to do well, and was wonderful during office hours. However, her exams felt unnecessarily hard and didn't resemble the HW at all. The partial credit on the extended responses saved me. Her practice questions during class after the lecture were INSANELY hard. She is very nice though.
Online test made this class very easy compared to traditional pen and paper classes. Do your homework and participate and you'll do fine.
Professor Shan is one of the best physics instructors at UT. While the course can be challenging, her clear explanations, helpful office hours, and use of study tools like unstuck study make it manageable. Definitely worth taking.
Gives great lectures, doesn't read from slides, and is excited about content! There's a decent amount of homework, but doable. Provides review for exams, exams aren't hard, study! Is also easy to work with, and gives alternative assignments! I loved having her; she's pretty funny and a great professor! I totally recommend her for AST1010!!
If you are not an astronomy/science nerd, the class is def difficult. Im not expecting an easy A per say, but it does suck that a class I dont want to take lowers my gpa bc im not into science. Shan loves what she lectures about but lowkey if u think its an easy A, it really isnt
Her teaching style is very effective if you review before class by watching her videos and reading the book. 6 exams and final, all online but have shorter times and complicated questions. Course content is difficult, but she explains things clearly. Attendance through iClicker and class usually finishes early.
She's definitely way better than Yunsic Shim. She is very clear and will make conceptual problems a breeze if you struggle with illustrating graphs before solving a problem. 10/10
She separates students based on if they have laptops, which is challenging because there's limited space in "laptop island," and her class literally requires iClicker, which most people want to use laptops for. She does this to "prevent distraction," but its weird since we pay for the class and are adults.
She is cool but honestly there're a lot of information to keep track of and if you don't study or pass the exam your will FAIL, apply for pass /no credit if your failing pass midterms so your gpa won't be affected.
do not take kathy shan if you want to survive your college life. she says she cares but she really does not. she will say that she has the exam stuff online but the material you study for the exam will not be on the exam and you'll be lucky to get a 25/50, 35 if youre REAL lucky. take bornak instead drop her asap
I would say she is a great professor that has a few flaws that bring her down. The lectures were good and the exams were all open note. However, the exams are timed... including the turn in time which includes taking a picture of your work and submitting it. She is a huge stickler about this. Had an internet crash so I got a 50% on an exam.
The tests are open note, you take them online at home. She's a great lecturer but the class is still really difficult despite it being open note. Class attendance is mandatory through iClicker. She is accommodating if you have things going on. She allowed me to take the final exam a day early because a family member needed surgery the next day.
