She just started teaching winter 2007 and is an awesome teacher. Her class was interesting, her personality even more so. She was very helpful and understanding. There was a lot of emphasis on the book, but the book is part of how you learn anyways. I'm definitely taking her again!

Tiell is the best prof I have ever had. She is clear, patient, funny, and really cares about her students. She keeps you awake during class with funny stories, and will go the extra mile to help you do well in her class. I highly recommend her.

I took her morning class and dreaded waking up so early, but after two of her classes it became my favorite and i looked forward to her class everyweek! I recommend for anyone!

One of the best teachers i've had. I loved going to class with her because she was out going and fun. She makes things understandable and easy to remember. If you pay attention and do the easy homework she gives you (vocab mostly) you should have no problem getting a good grade. Practically gives answers to quizes. Just an all around great lady.

WONDERFUL TEACHER!!! I highly recommend to take her ... she cares about her students and makes sure you pass the class! Lots of extra credit and overall a fun and exciting class. I look forward to the class week after week! She hands out play-do and colored pencils and well that's only the start of the fun in her class!

I LOVE HER. She is a great teacher. She explains things clearly and lets you practice new concepts. She gives practice exams so that you can test yourself. She is so helpful! She even met with me every week during her office hours to review the material.

I think she's great! The class is not easy. I took the class during Summer Semester so the class moved quickly. She makes the lectures interesting and has a great sense of humor. Lots of Opportunities for extra credit too so take advantage of this. Study Group sessions helped a great deal! I did better than I did in my other psy classes.

I think Dr. Tiell is great. She is so patient and helpful, and really wants to help you succeed in class.

Combination in class and online. Very helpful and knew her stuff. But constantly was losing students assignments when emailed to her. Luckily I had saved all of my emailed assignments or I would have failed the class. If you take her class, back up your work. Other than that, she's a great prof. Very funny.

honestly she is probably the best prof i have ever had so far. her lectures really pull you in and she also adds some humor in there which really gets the class goin! take advantage of the extra credit she gives you!!! very helpfull!!!

Great professor,keeps your attention, attendance is mandatory for a good grade. This was a short spring session but the work load was geared for a 16 week semester. TOO MUCH BUSY WORK for a shortened semester ...really not necessary. Should forget about all the frills and stick to the "core principles" during a spring class. Overall- very good

Great professor, made class fun and was really funny. Told alot of stories so the class would get "jiggy". Always kept the energy high, make sure to keep the course pack organized though it will help alot. You dont need to bring the book to class just the course pack. TAKE THIS PROF FOR YOUR PSYCH CLASSES!!!

Great class I would re take just because of how fun and great she is she was the most helpful professor I have had yet at OCC. There is not enough kind words I can say about her. Also Terri is just as helpful they both make you want to come to class and you will fully understand the material enjoyed every moment!

Awesome teacher! I would highly recommend her to everyone. I absolutely hate gen ed classes since psy was not by degree and I received an A by the end of the class. Didn't really use the textbook but must have the lab manual!! Tests are kinda hard and no homework always a plus :)Plus one essay/term paper but not hard at all, actually a lot of fun.

I've taken Kathy for all my psych classes, she is awesome! She is very informational, and willing to take the time to help you understand. She teaches with such creativity. Im gonna be sad to not have her once I transfer to a university.

The best professor I've ever had, Dr. Tiell has a genuine gift for being able to distill a huge amount of information in a way that's interesting and entertaining, making it easier to recall. She respects maturity and hard work and is approachable and kind. If you act like an adult, she treats you as such. I have nothing but respect for her.

She is a really great professor. Her classes are educational but its also interesting and fun at he same time. She makes the course easy and simple. The exams are easy if you study for them. I would recommend her.

Dr. Tiell, or, as she is affectionately known 'Dr. K', is incredibly bright and a wonderful teacher. Most classes end 25-45 minutes early, and yet never seem to fall behind. She teaches the information in a fun and educational way, and her tests aren't overly difficult, especially if you attend the study session an hour beforehand.

Great professor! She made everything very relatable and easy to understand. She gave out a good amount of extra credit so if you put in the time and work you will get a good grade!

I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Tiell. She was one of my favorite teachers and would highly recommend her. She is funny, keeps the class interesting, and wants each of her students to succeed. BEST PROFESSOR EVER!! Makes everything easy and fun. Only counts 2/3 exams. Her demand is high as she only teaches 2 classes of (Psy 2740) per semester so take before someone else does. Highly Recommended and she is the only professor who knows how to make the class fun and a good learning experience at the same time.

Not only will you walk away with a great education but you get it from a genuine, humble, down to earth person. She cares about what she does and the students as well. It's a really fun class but you have to be willing to work in the class, it's not a smooth sail if you don't keep up on the work.

Dr. Tiell is absoultely fantastic! Keeps the class upbeat, and interested. Explains everything well. Her tests are somewhat difficult but if you end up getting less then a B in this class you probably shouldn't be in college at all. Thats how easy it is to ace it! Simply wonderful professor, looking forward to taking another course of hers!

Highly recommended. She teaches to all learning styles and genuinely cares for her student's success. Takes attendance (10 points each class) and daily quiz (25 points), so do not take her class if you plan on skipping. Did not use the book, but took detailed notes and got an A.

Dr. Tiell is AMAZING. I am now going to get my Psychology degree because of her. She is sooo helpful and FUNNY. VERY down to earth and made me learn without even knowing it. I looked forward to her lectures and being in the class. I can't wait for her class next semester!

Class met for three hours; one day a week at 8 am. Not a morning person but she made the class very entertaining. Down to Earth with an excellent personality. Would recommend her class to anyone!

She is very energetic and funny. I got an A in her class but I had to work at it. She gives a 30 points quiz everyday and normally she lets you use your notes, but sometimes she does not. So, if you cannot learn information that day and then take a quiz on it, make sure you know the material before going in.

Dr. Tiell has a wonderful personality. I had her online course and she used many real world scenarios through out her lectures. The only thing I didn't enjoy was how quiet her voice was in the lectures and I hate to say this but it sounded like she had dry mouth or something along those lines which made her speech sound a little strange

Goes above and beyond in an attempt to ensure students understand material. Keeps class lively and interesting. As long as you do the reading and work, and show up to class lectures, you will pass this class.

Dr. Tiell is hands-down the best professor I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. She is very helpful and kind. The class never lacks in interest or humor. If you show up, listen, and do the work, you will pass. I wish that I could take another course with her!

Dr. Tiell has 2 PhD degrees in Psychology, making her very knowledgeable on the subject. She also does work in the field; she has a private practice and she does volunteer work. Not a single lecture is boring. She throws in (sometimes risque) jokes to keep students attentive. She is down-to-earth and sometimes I wish she was my mom. For real though

Professor Tiell is the most compassionate Professors I have ever had. She wants you to succeed. She also wants you to remember what she teaches you. She does office hours and is very helpful when you want to learn. Don't expect to come snooze or talk on the phone she doesn't mind calling you out.

All around, great teacher. Cares about her students, makes learning fun. You do have to work and show up. But she makes it totally worth it.

I loved Kathy, she always has funny stories or videos to keep you interested. The only thing I didn't like was the research paper, because you didn't get to choose the subject. But it was fairly easy, just a little bit of work. Overall this teacher is awesome! Super energetic and fun.

The second time I've had her as a professor. She makes lectures fun, and she covers everything you need to know for the mid-term and final. Several little hw assignments, quizzes after every lecture, and a APA paper due near the end of the semester.

Dr. Tiell, is not only an excellent professor, she hold numerous degrees in Psychology . Dr. Tiell's extensive clinical experience which she shares during lectures, are quite beneficial when it comes to accumulating knowledge for learning DSM-V criteria. Follow the syllabus. Attendance and participation important. Very helpful. HIGHLY recommend!

Never written a review before, but Dr. Tiell deserves it. Honestly, I'm a sucker for always checking rate my professor, yet most of the time I still don't know what I'm getting myself into.... But in all honestly, she is an amazing prof. and I would take her for every PSY class if I could. I beyond recommend her. You won't be sorry! FOR REAL

Makes learning psychology fun. Gives quizzes at the end of every class. Taking notes is important as sometimes you are allowed to use them for quizzes. Follows syllabus. Very informational.

She is the best psych teacher ever! All her teaching and examples she gives are crystal clear and hilarious so that you can remember them. Of course you have to do your part in learning and studying but she makes it easier. The test aren't bad and there isn't much homework. She wants you to succeed so she makes sure you understand before moving on.

she doesnt use the book but you must show up to take notes because everything she lectures in will be on the test. Shes a tough grader but her class is interesting and shes funny. She does give you a study guide if you ask.

If I could put more tags they'd be "extra credit" she gives so many opportunities for more points, "caring" she is one of the most considerate teachers I've had. All together Dr. Tiell is one of the best professors out there because she understands that everyone has different learning styles and caters to all. Class difficulty because of quantity.

She makes so many jokes and tells loads of funny stories to keep the class alive! Her exams are not easy and each question weigh 4 points which makes it hard to stay in the A zone, however extra credits makes up for it and she gives lots of opportunities to gain extra credits! You'll laugh, learn and enjoy her class for sure!

If you show up sign in and STAY for class its impossible to fail Dr. T's class. Her lectures connect all the dots of the reading assignments. She tells you what will be on the test if you pay attention. She gives lots of chances to earn extra credit. Be prepared to laugh too. Dr. T is a gem of a professor, do your gpa a favor a take her class!

She embodies what a real educator should look like. Dr. Tiell is an amazing person inside the classroom, but also outside as well. She relates things to life and understands the daily struggles everyone experiences. She caters to all different learning styles and encourages people to ask questions. She deserves all of the praise illustrated on RMP.

I honestly think that Dr. Tiell may be the best professor I've had throughout my three years of college. I loved how she was very helpful and made learning fun. Even the switch to online courses was smooth during the COVID-19 pandemic, and she was still very organized and still made the course enjoyable. I wish more professors were like her.

Dr Tiell is such an amazing person. her lectures are very clear and she is not picky about grading assignment or Ec. As long as you do the assignment, she will give you full credit for it. even with online class, she is so organized. her class was the most class i didn't struggle with online. gives you slides but make sure you pause her recording of the lecture write down every word she said especially her examples! her tests are examples and you have to guess what it is. One of the best professors I've ever had if not the best. Allowed students to complete material whenever they needed as long as it's before due, so much of the course could be completed in advance if you'll be busy later. Very clear + helpful in explanation, understood the subject and how to present it. Tests and assignments always made sense

She is a very laid back professor. Super easy class. Show up, study the PowerPoint and you'll pass with an A. Attendance is a part of your grade and extra credit is usually given every class period on a scantron. The only thing that bothered me was that she made many comments and jokes about certain groups of people which I found offensive.

Dr. Tiell was an amazing professor as an incoming freshman. Her lectures were easy to understand and she caters to every single type of student and their learning styles. She genuinely cares about her students and really enjoys teaching psychology. I would recommend her to every student wanting to take a psychology class.

My Psychology course was online due to covid. Professor Tiell's lectures were short and sweet. She pretty much just read what was on the power point and gave a few examples. Assignments and quizzes were easy but I found the exams were difficult and dropped my grade significantly. She does not respond very quick to emails if she does at all.

I really wish I had the chance to take her in person. She is an amazing professor and made her lectures very interesting even just watching them from a computer. Some of the lectures are long but as long as you take good notes the quizzes and tests are pretty easy.

I absolutely LOVE this professor. If you have the opportunity to take her class do it. This is by far one of the best professors I have ever had, she cares about her students and wants them to succeed. She noticed that my work had changed and she had me give her my phone number so she could help one on one. Literally one of my fav people!

Shes great. The class is very well organized, and she has many extra credit opportunities. Theres lots of assignments, so if you do bad on one, dont worry too much. She drops your lowest exam as well. You could even argue back questions on an exam to get the points back. You can use your notes on almost every assignment as well.

This has been the easiest class I have taken at OCC. I took this as an online class, but she still offered optional zoom lectures for anyone who was interested. EXTREMELY NICE and very easy to contact. I cannot say enough great things about this her. Don't have to read the textbook, just watch the lectures. Open note for every test, even the exam!!

Kathy has done an amazing job with the content and layout of this class! Everything is super easy to find and follow along with, there's a lot of work in this class so you need to be on top of what's due and when, but none of the work is too hard, plus you get unlimited attempts on quizzes! There's multiple extra credit opportunities too!

Kathys class was pretty easy. There were A LOT of homework assignments, but she also offered tons of extra credit opportunities. Her exams had bad questions occasionally that she would fix and adjust grades ASAP. You absolutely need the book, and need to watch her lectures. She is an incredible teacher and has tons of experience in psychology!

Kathy is an amazing PSY teacher ! Shes so sweet and has a great sense of humor! I took her intro to psychology class online and also taking abnormal psychology in class now and she is just as nice as she was online. She does great lectures and also provides a free online text book. She also reminds us to make sure we take care of our mental being.

Kathy is a good professor and a good person. Shes always willing to help and is accessible outside of class. She gives a lot of extra credit, and you can attempt her quizzes as many times as youd like, keeping the highest grade. As long as you study and do the assignments its very easy to get an A.

While attendance is not mandatory, it's so worth going to lecture because she never overloads you with information and her lectures are very fun to attend.

This is my 3rd time taking Kathy classes! I love her so much! Her lectures are clear. There are quizes and homework due every week but if you watch the lectures and read your book you will pass! She is loving and caring and always emails us with motivation and to make sure we take care of our mental being. She is amazing online and in person 10/10!

There is an APA paper you need to do but since I missed the deadline on it my final grade wasn't as good but still passable at least. But all the other homework and quizzes are pretty easy!

100% my favorite professor. Her expectations are clear from the start, and really shows that she wants her students to succeed. No late work accepted and she won't round grades even a point, but tons of opportunities for extra credit, as well as the 2 lowest homework and quiz grades dropped at the end of the semester. The most caring, genuine professor at OCC. You be responsible weekly for an assignment (15 total), quiz (10 total), extra credit (8 total), one final exam. Wish she wouldn't rely so much on reading the book. She cares about you personally, mental health, and easy to access outside class. Study guide for the final exam is vital. Love Kathy Tiell :)

I loved this course! The content was interesting and her lecture videos kept me engaged the entire time. The course consisted of weekly recorded lectures, an assignment + quiz due on fridays, and a final comprehensive exam. Read the online textbook, write your own notes during lecture, and put your best effort in when completing assignments.

Honestly, she was a really nice professor. She had two homework and quiz passes (I think but I never used them) to collect if you absolutely needed them. She does quizzes based on videos and there is a midterm and final. There is a high homework load but there are unlimited attempts. Overall very understanding and would give nice feedback on work!!

Can't say enough about how great prof Tiell is! She will make you laugh so much you'll get a core workout in. I honestly looked forward to every class and I enjoyed her very caring and approachable character. She does do a decent portion of assignments online, but nothing too hard. 10/10 professor!
