Very hard course. I used to like math, but not after this course. She doesn't explain very good, plus it was her first year teaching this class.
Very easy test but had to understand teachers lectures
I have had Zhong for two semesters now and I do believe that when I took her for Calc II I had a very hard time following what she was saying. Now I have her for Math 45 and I think that she teaches very well and grades fairly and will take another class fromher if the opportunity shall arise.
VERY EASY, I didn't go like 1/2 the time and have a strong A. She explains SO good, and is VERY willing to help. YES she has an accent, but she KNOWS and is willing to compromise, she talks slow. She's SOOO nice and sweet, and she helps. Tests are all the same (maths)...she's helpful :) Eazy!
Other teachers will let you use a note card and/or drop one of the midterms. Take this class at a JC or with another teacher.
Dr Zhong gives VERY concise lectures for this class. As long as you fake notes, ask questions and do the homework, you will do well in this course. She is very approachable inside and outside of class and responds to EMAIL quickly! Which is a plus since some instructors still don't have a clue! She is also very organized which is a plus! You can check her website before classes start for whatever semester you are taking her!
Dr.Zhong is a very good professor. She is fair and knowlegable. She will do everything to make sure students are understanding. She doesn't give any surprise questions on the test. Overall she is a great professor.
One of the best I have had. She has a strange accent yes, but it's very easy to understand her and she is able to explain things in different ways to help you understand the words and the math. She even tells a "math joke" sometimes. The tests fill the time period but are fair. She gives half credit for late homework. Allows a notecard on tests.
Dr. Zhong was not always present during office hours, so an appointment should be made. She does not always understand the questions students ask, and she has trouble explaining things due to the language barrier. She is willing to make concessions to help the class. A decent prof for a difficult subject.
She is way too emotional, and her test are way to long. Even though 108 isnt required, you had better take it, because there is no way you can get through this class unless you can prove things on the fly. Unable to explain things to certain mindsets, and with her test being disjointed from the HW and lectures, take this class only with friends.
Stay away.
She was a terrible professor. You could not understand her and she could not understand you. When you asked questions in class she could never answer them in a clear way. I basically taught myself the material for this course. I suggest not taking a class taught by her!
She was great in 108 a couple years ago. Took her for 110B based on that evaluation - big mistake. Her teaching is not bad, and her accent is not hard to understand at all. Her problem is her tests are really long, and her grading is very unfair. You omit/misword one tiny thing out of a huge proof and she docks you 25%-35%. Most unfair grader ever.
Great instructor. So organized and crystal clear progression of concepts. I'm not a math person at all and she made this actually make sense. I think Dr. Zhong is great.
Very helpful. One of the best teacher I've had in math. Did not like proves before, now understand it and enjoy. Take her.
Very good Professor.Smart, with very positive attitude, cares for students. Tries hard to help students understand the material. Her accent is not a problem. Her 3 in-class tests are long, but gives many extra credit opportunities. Two take-home tests, very long, but helpful in learning the material. Homework, counts as tests.Very sweet/helpful person.
Horrible teacher. She is very hard to follow in her explanations and it's not just because her accent. She doesn't explain the material thoroughly. If you don't get it the first time she wont go over it again. I didn't learn much with her but I did learn Americans are lazy because we don't work hard. Your best bet is to try to learn it on your own.
She is the best math teacher(maybe even one of the best) I ever had, and that is because she was a really positive teacher with a heart. She should be considered as an example for ideal teachers.
Very clear explanations. If you do all the homework, the exams are easy. She provides a good foundation for student who need to take all 3 semesters of calculus. Easy A.
Not a good teacher. Even my previous arc teacher was better as im retaking the course. dosent communicate well because her accent is horrible. cannot understand what she is lecturing and her handouts are terrible. multiple choice practice that dosent show how to actually do the problem. gives you 2 min to solve a 5 min problem and just gives the an
Reuses questions for the test. Always extends homework. Even allows take home quizzes. Is there really anything negative to say? Her accent is hard only if you listen to English all day long and don't want to try to listen to something different. The idea of her accent preventing you from learning is moot. Textbook is rarely used, her lessons + HW
Good attitude but impossible to understand the accent. Very poor explanations of how to solve problems or explain the process of solving problems. Homework is extremely helpful and her practice exams are essential for passing!
I sat in front of the class all semester and I understood her just fine. Just because a professors English is broken, doesn't mean you wont learn from them. All of her lecture notes were print out, her exams were based off her study guides, and she answers homework questions in class. She is a friendly professor in class and at office hours.
If you pay attention she's not that hard to understand. Lots of examples to help you learn the material. Exam questions almost word-for-word from practice worksheets. Homework website was helpful to me. Good at making up homework assignments. If you are somewhat good at math already, she's a great teacher.
shes kinda hard to understand but is a really good teacher and goes over everything if you need her to.
She is a really good teacher hard to understand at times but if you ask questions she will answer them. Great Teacher!
the practice worksheets are similar to the midterms, but you really have to know the materials. 3 midterms and one cumulative final.
Prof has an accent but you will get used to it. Lenient on HW deadlines and exams are easy if you study off the practice exams. 3 exams and 1 cumulative final. Pay attention, do the hw and it shouldn't be difficult to get a good grade.
Kathy is AWESOME! She is one of the best teachers I have had due to the fact that she is so lenient on HW. She gives you 10 tries for every problem! She wants her students to succeed. The practice exams are the same as the actual exams so do them. She is witty too, and tries to crack random jokes. Take her!
For those of you debating taking M24 at Sac state ir M42 at Sierra College, TAKE MATH 24 AT SAC STATE! Multiple choice exams in 24 plus the allowance of graphing calculators on exams! Not to mention notes available online AND only about a quarter of the info in M42 is actually in M24! Much easier at Sac State than Sierra College!
yes, she has an accent but she is a great professor! She's very good at explaining step by step procedures.
She's a great math teacher. Very clear in teaching and goes at a good pace. Not too slow or too fast. All hw is online and you get 10% extra credit for submitting at least 1 day before. Didn't even need the textbook as long as you attend class.
Super duper easy class. DO NOT NEED TEXTBOOK REFERANCE. (Although required.) As long as you attend class, everything should be easy to follow and understand. Gives lots of practice on hw and worksheets. Do em, and you are guaranteed an A.
Very easy class. Attendance is not mandatory but recommended. She provides all class notes. To get an A, just do the HW (do them early to earn extra credit) and then do the worksheets. The exams are based DIRECTLY from the worksheets (she only changes the numbers). Do the HW and worksheets - you are golden!
One of the best professors I've had at CSUS. Explains well and sets the students up for success. Offers extra credit on hw assignments and midterms are based on worksheets. Great class and easy. Would definitely recommend!
Such an amazing professor! She was so clear and helpful it made the subject easy to understand. I took this course with another professor and got a D, took it with Zhong and got a B+. She is great and gives lots of resources. Do the hw and worksheets-worksheets help a lot with the exams, very similar. Hw done early gives you extra credit points
The only reason she would not get a 5/5 on clarity is because of her accent, but she is a wonderful professor. Everyone should take math 24 with her
Very very easy!!! Exams are based on worksheets. She also does reviews before exam. Great teacher!!!
Kathy Zhong is a great professor. She explains everything step-by-step. Very easy class. All her tests are based on the worksheets. She also gives extra credit if you turn in your hw 24 hrs before it's due (online). I strongly recommend taking her for Math 24.
Overall, best professor at Sac State. She explains everything so clearly so that students don't get confused. You don't need the book b/c she provides notes and wksts. Her tests are based off the notes and wksts so there's no need for the book. You do hw online and you can earn extra credit for turning them in early Bonus: Tests are multiple choice
Haves a accent but is understandable. All the lecture notes are uploaded, so you just have to print it and bring it to class. The questions on the exams are based on the worksheets.
Professor Zhong was a good teacher. We don't even use the book which was kind of disappointing. Homework is online and she gives it like twice a week. Her exams are really easy. I found the homework to be more challenging than the exams. Though her class was easy I found it quite difficult to stay awake in her class.
Great professor. Have an accent but she is very understandable. Easy homework + easy exams. 3 midterms + 1 final. Benefits of worksheets are that they are same problems as the exams, but with different numbers.
Homework is given online and you get 99 tries/problem, and there is no penalty for guessing. Homework website can be picky on how you type in your answer. Multiple choice part of the exams are base on the 'worksheets' she provides, just the numbers are different. She goes over half of the worksheets pretty clearly in class the day before exam. GL.
I love this professor. She is very helpful/Kind Had an early class but was okay bc i was going to a nice easy class. Her teaching is wonderful, she grade not so hard, exams are easy the worksheets are your study guide. All you have to do is show up/do online hw thats due every sun. and if you dont get to it she opens it back up at the end of the sem
Professor has an accent but pretty understandable. Easy to learn. Do the homework, practice worksheets (basically the exams). Cumulative final but very easy if you do practice worksheets over.
This is one of the best course I have ever taken at csus. she is very knowledgeable. Just get used to her accent. She is very nice and would work with you until you succeed. TAKE HER
One of the most helpful teacher at Sac State. She has a great teaching style and wants you to be the most successful. Highly recommend.
Her class was fair, she gives you practice worksheets that are the same on the exam but just different problems. Easy A if you do the worksheets. She offer a lot of help if you ask. 3 exams, 1 final and homework online. All easy if you pay attention and practice worksheets.
Professor Zhong was a really cool person. Her class is really easy. She gives you practice worksheets and online homework that are the same as the exams just different problems. Take her. Easy A.
She has an adorable personality. She's great at teaching and very explanatory. You are given all the notes on BlackCT(highly suggest to print it and follow along), 3 midterms, and a cumulative final. Extra credit for finishing online hw 24 hrs prior to due date.
i learned many materials from this class back in high school, attendance is not mandatory, you can learn everything your self, 3 tests, and one final exam, no quiz, about 20 multiple choice and 2 show-works problem
You can learn most of the material on your own cause it's easy, but I would recommend attendance just because you it improves your chances of catching something you could have skipped while self teaching. Getting an A should not be hard if you are confident about the material and have the ability to work through all the problems in her worksheets.
This is a pretty good professor overall. This class is very clear regarding assignments and grades. Also, the homework assignments and tests aren't too hard. I recommend showing up to actually learn the lessons but I do know many people who don't go to this class and still pass. The study guides for tests are very helpful as well.
Have never been so bad at math in my life. I did not get the best impression of her despite what all the other reviews said. Refused to meet with me for additional help and she didn't teach things in class that were on the homework. Don't take this class if there're lots of students. Awkwardly taught materials frequently answering her own questions
She provides good notes for her students and her online homework is more difficult than her exams (which is good, it would help you do better). There's a lot to learn, but she makes it easy to grasp. Her exams are very similar to her worksheets; same format just different numbers. This is class is mostly algebra and geometry with a hint of calculus
Grades were based on homework, 3 midterms and 1 final. Lectures did not cover everything in homework. Reviews were sometime extremely helpful on the test, and other times it was completely useless. First test I got and F, second an A and third a D. Homework grading was fair. Don't recommend taking.
Horrible instructor! Prepare to teacher yourself and study with student who understand because she doesn't teach so student understand. She doesn't have her own notes, she only uses a book. She couldn't answer a question that was out of the book. She has a thick accent. 14/26 students passed her class, with 9 of them receiving a C-. Beware
Great professor! I would definitely recommend Professor Zhong to every student needing to take Math 24 (Modern Business Math) at Sacramento State. The course involves 3 midterms, 1 cumulative final, and 17 online homework assignments. Make sure to pay attention during lectures.
Some of my classmates thought she was difficult but if you go to every class then you should pass. I loved her, she was my favorite professor. She is honest and compassionate about math and she will do her best to make sure you learn the material. If you do not attend class then do not expect to get an A unless you study outside of class.
Take Prof Zhong if you have to take Stats at Sac State!! She is amazing and super nice and you can tell she cares about her students success. She is super easy to talk to and answer any questions you might have. She lets you use a notecard every exam, would highly recommend. Don't buy the book just the access card for online hw. 10/10
Honestly such an easy class, as she tells you everything straight up. HW is reopened at the end of the semester which can help you, and EC is given. Coming to class is optional but it does help if you don't understand some things. She is at her office hours for help. Only issue is that there are only 5 assignments that will be in the grade book.
I've taken stats before and didn't pass the class because the other professor was too fast paced. Dr. Zhong takes her time and has lecture notes ready to print and bring to class. Her teaching method is learn and practice as you go. 4 exams and uploads practice ones that are very similar to exams. Point scale out of 100 points for grade not a %.
Great professor! I would definitely recommend Professor Zhong to every student needing to take Statistics 1 (Intro To Statistics) at Sacramento State. The course involves 3 midterms, 1 cumulative final, and 13 online homework assignments. Make sure to pay attention during lectures.
She is a great professor. However, you don't need to show up. If you are able to teach yourself the material, then you're good. Her study guides are literally just like the test. If you can teach yourself then all you need to do is these study guides to pass the exams. All homework is online and you can actually learn through them as well.
She gives homework and quizzes but no practice problems. She only explains how to use the material in class. If you don't attend the class you will be stuck with online power points with no description or examples that are worked out.(same for study guide) just definitions. You will need to seek help to learn how to apply the formulas.
I believe participation matters. The problems in stats are hard and require someone to teach them to you. I skipped like three times and I felt that if I were there, I would have done better in this course. I believe she was an awesome professor to take for stats. Go to class, ask questions, and study guide is like the tests.
This is probably the easiest class ever. All of her exams are identical to her practice exams (with a few things changed) with flashcards allowed and most of the class is based on the hw, the three exams, and the final. Keep in mind, an 89% is considered an A in this class! Just show up to class, make sure you understand, and do the hw! Super easy.
Love her! Her study guides go with the test. She does try to trick you on some questions just to make sure you aren't copying the study guide. Tests are the most important part of your grade. She assigns hw and quizzes every class online and you get many tries to take them. Overall, the class is easy as long as you stay on top of it.
Professor Zhong is very caring, she's made it a point to check in on how we're doing before class during quarantine, and is very quick to help with homework questions that were emailed to her. She also offered an extra assignment to do test corrections when we struggled with the second midterm.
Great professor! She cares about her students and will work with you to understand problems. Your grade is made up of points and not percentages. points are made up of 3 midterms and 1 final, as well as about 14 hws. And her study guides are the same concepts as the tests. Just stay on top of your studying and you will pass!
BAD i would never take she makes you do soooooo much work
She is really caring and understanding however she goes too fast with her lectures. Overall there's at least 4-5 test and she also gives test previews or practice test to help you.
She really cares about her students. Students are mostly graded on homework assignments and tests. She offers practice tests and does test review before the actual test. Easy class as long as you do the work. All the materials needed were posted online as pdf files. Attendance isn't mandatory.
Reasonable with workload so the class isn't that time consuming. If you attend class and actually participate you should get a B at the minimum.
i love professor zhong! her lectures was straight forward and detailed! she explains very well. i learned a lot from her. she kind of has a thick accent, but you'll get used to it. tests were okay, kind of hard, but she gives out study guides, USE THEM! she's also really nice and always answers questions!
Professor Zhong is a solid choice!! I love being in her class; she is very caring, thoughtful, supportive, etc. I just can't express how much I appreciate her! Number Theory is definitely a challenging course, so she will push you a lot in class. With that being said, there are a lot of assignments. Need to work hard to get an A in her class! Love!
Professor Zhong is nice and made material fairly easy to understand. Print out the test reviews a few days before exam day and if you study them for a few hours, you'll get an easy A. Not much else to say.
What an amazing professor she is! I took her in my last semester for Stat1 and she has been so knowledgeable throughout the semester. Her lectures are pretty straightforward! She explained in depth if you know dont understand any concept! Her exams are super easy if you do homework well. I would highly recommend her to anyone for Stat1.
She is super nice and thoughtful and is really willing to help you succeed in class. If you don't understand something don't be afraid to ask her she is understanding and helpful!
She is nice and a great professor! She provides lecture notes and test reviews to prepare for exams. There were 3 midterms, 14 homework, and a comprehensive final exam.
She was super sweet and helpful during summer school. I would recommend her to anyone taking Stats 1.
Grade is heavy affected by test scores, she's nice but the class is hard and fast paced
She's really nice & caring. She remembered my name & recognized me outside of class! Overall, she's a good person but her lectures are kinda heavy. Not only that, the lectures are REALLY fast-paced. I'm a slow learner & I struggled a lot :( . So I'm just copying her notes, but not really understanding the lesson. As a result, I failed her class :(
Nicest prof I have had so far! Explains problems and formulas clearly. Always ready to answer any questions you have. Test reviews given before tests are really helpful in getting a good grade on them.
Pay attention in class and DO THE TEST REVIEWS!!! I promise you will pass this class!
Grade based HEAVILY on exams. Offers so little extra credit that barely helps raise grade. Class is fast-paced. She's very sweet, but grading is terrible. She teaches well, but if you're not good at exams then you're better off with someone else. Averaged 17/20 on my midterms, did ALLLL HW and EC, went to class everyday & still didn't get an A.
Lacks ability to communicate and deliver the subject effectively. No idea what she is talking about. Very disconnected from the students.
She is very fast-paced and gives only one extra credit which is only 2 points. She is tough.
DO NOT TAKE. This professor has no understanding of how to communicate complex topics effectively. She provides little to no insight on how to succeed on the exams, which are most of the grade, and assigns a constant stream of homework with feedback inconsistent with the expectations on the exams. would give a 0 if I could.
Do not listen to everyone talking about how hard her class is. She is really sweet and when she saw that grades after the second exam dropped she gave us all the opportunity to match our lowest grade with the final if we score higher on the final. If you got class you will get an A. She even allows for notecards on exams and the final.
do the EC, easy & worth 2% of grade. HW worth little but is online, teaches how to do problems if u get stuck, based on accurate completion but no limit to tries. u can skip a few classes so long as u understand & do the test reviews & go to review lecture, she does all the problems people need help on. few notes but lots of example problems.
This class was just lecture, homework, tests. Tests are the chunk of your grade and the lectures very hard to understand and she doesn't give feedback. You will spend the entire class just teaching yourself everything and if you struggle with math, do not take this class.
One of the toughest professors I have taken. Her accent is a bit rough but its alright to understand most things. She has homework due every single lecture. She will make you work yourself to the bone. I am exhausted and the pace is just too fast that I'm more worried completing the homework than studying what I have learned from last homework.
4 exams, HW, and 2pts extra credit. The final is all the chapters. Exams the problems are the same, but the answers are in different order. The long problems on the back are the same, but numbers change with is fair. But on the final, the long problem was different if you got tests A or B. That wasn't fair some long problems are easier than others
3 main exams. 1 final on the 3 main exams combined. Long homework problems due every Saturday. A single 2 point extra credit opportunity. Has an accent that can be difficult to understand at times. Goes really fast. If you miss the lectures you will do bad in the class. Posts the slides on canvas. Has worksheets that go lectures. Print them out.
Lectures well prepared w/ pdf notes avail. she explains things well, teaches proofs so you can do them on your own, is organized. don't miss class & follow her advice to read ahead. HW/quiz once per wk, 3 exams similar to hw/quiz. she gives exam outlines for study w/ no surprises on exams if you go to class. Xtra credit options avail.
Hard to understand and is biased.
I took Dr. Zhong for both Stats 1 and Math 26A and I would take any class by her again! Honestly as long as you show up to class and take notes on her provided worksheets then you'll be fine. Her study guides are nearly the same format as the questions on her exams. Two extra credit assignments and attendance was mandatory for spring semester.
The professor goes at a fast pace, but if you stay engaged and use resources like the test reviews and unstuck study, you can do well. The exams are challenging but fair, and the workload is manageable with diligence.
Great lectures filled with helpful examples. The homework assignments were not too bad, and the exams were all based on the HW and quizzes.
Probably one of my favorite math professors. She does have a slight accent but it didn't bother me any. Other than that the class structure was great, solid test reviews for exams, and you could tell she wanted students to succeed which was confidence inspiring.
My favorite prof. Great class, good lectures, she makes it easy to understand. HW once a week, will help in office hours, weekly quiz, exams are reflection of quiz/HW. attendance is important. extra credit option. clear grading. she wants you to understand and will help a lot
She's one of the best professors I've had in 2 years of college. She really shows that she cares about how we learn and understand it first before moving on and doesn't just rush through things. You have a weeks to do hw before it's due and a few exams. Very chill class if you ask me. You'll have multiple choice questions and then 2word problems.EZ
She provides test reviews which makes studying SO much easier (+you can use note card on exams). Lectures are easy to follow and you can ask questions. Multiple review days before the exam so as long as you show up and study, you should be able to pass. Offers extra credit and hw is graded by completion not score. RECOMMEND!!
Lectures were fast paced so you really have to teach yourself the content. She provides test reviews and worksheets that help for midterms. But overall, the class was challenging for me and lectures wouldn't help most of the time.
She's so sweet and genuine. She will let you retake test if you can't make it for any reason. She gives a little extra credit but do it because every single point counts. You have unlimited HW attempts to get a perfect score on it and stats is an easy class plus she helps you learn a lot
