DO NOT TAKE KATI!! She grades extremely harshly and puts a lot of weight on tests, which she makes VERY difficult. She expects you to understand every piece of material, and gets irritated when you ask for help on something you dont understand. Take literally anybody else!!

doesn't care about students. grades ridiculously hard for a general/first level biology class. gets mad when you ask questions. not really willing to help. teaches the bare minimum and easy stuff and then tests you on super hard stuff she never taught you. take literally any other bio professor. the professors who teach it first semester are best.

Dr. Brazeal seems like a decent person but teaching is definitely not for her. She paired up with Anna Hiatt for teaching the 120 course for Fall 2020 and absolutely botched 90% of it. Her exams 2, 3, and quite possibly the final are very direct in specificity. She blamed her students for doing poorly and did not reflect on what was wrong on exams

This class moves fast normally, but during an accelerated semester I literally was just starting to understand chapter 6 when we were supposed to be on 14. Tests are crazy hard and don't even get me started on weekly homework assignments and quizzes and the AMOUNT OF READING and yellowdig engage. Saddest thing... I have to take LIFE121 :(((

Brazeal does a terrible job of teaching the course. The class is very hard and the things we do in class are completely different than what is taken on the exams. Learning Catalytics is used in class for credit and you must be on zoom to get credit.

She teaches like a middle school teacher. Provides little help when nobody understands. Gets off her train of thought easily, which makes class boring and dragged along. Lastly, she is the exact reason I have developed poor drinking habits.

Kati is the type of teacher to say "i'll wait". Her lectures are more like unhelpful recitations. She is slow, she teaches 10 mins of material in 50 mins and wonders why no one is listening. Don't just take notes in class, take notes while reading the book, study the book w/ study objectives, and you will be fine.

Brazeal's lectures are unentertaining, unengaging, and simply put, not very educational. She struggles to teach concepts in understandable ways, insofar as I feel like I can teach them better in numerous instances. Thankfully the course itself is not very difficult, and it can easily be self-taught through reading the book and online resources.

Kati is great person but a not so great teacher. Lots of useless lecturing and the same slides that repeat for weeks. You must attend to get participation tho. Going to office hours dont help either. Read the book use online resources and do a lot of the practice tests she gives. During lecture, try to understand the stuff on your own and do the LC

I'm fine with reading the book, my problem is what she expects of us. We have at most two days to read a section in the book, and she believes we should be experts. For someone who has short-term memory like me, you can read the book but completely forget about it. Plus, when you're taking 13 other credits, there isn't much time to be as devoted.

Everyday I show up to her lectures, it amazes me that she is allowed to teach. Along with her students, I don't think she understands what she is teaching. If you take this class in the future my only recommendation would to go to class and tune out and read the book as she lectures while tuning in solely for the learning catalytics. She's terrible

Her lectures are cancerous. Do not take her classes, they are unintertaining and they will put you to sleep.

Brazeal has the worst lectures I have ever been to, and expects you to basically teach yourself, if she is your last option sure it is doable but if you can, take a different professor and save yourself a headache.

Basically get ready for a tutor, because this lade is no help. I didn't miss a single lecture, NOT EVEN ONE. And I struggled in this class. I took my final exams, yes... we had multiple tests, and finished them feeling terrible and scared for my grade. 1/10 would not recommend.

Do not take this lady! She is an awful professor; she gets passive-aggressive when students pack up early or have side conversations. She acts like a middle school teacher. She gives no help and also doesn't communicate with TAs or the other LIFE 120 teachers. She was just the worse professor I had. I leave her lecture, not learning anything.

Her exams were so hard and never correlated with the stuff she talked about in lecture. She just recites the stuff that you were already assigned to read. When you ask her a question, she doesn't even know the answer.

I took AP Bio in highschool and excelled so I thought i'd have an easy time. I was wrong. Kati contradicts herself and comes off extremely passive aggressive. She focuses on learning catalytics that don't correlate to anything. She loves to provide trick questions that are more confusing than anything. Overall horrible environment to learn in.

Her lectures are useless and she relies on students to read 2 chapters from the textbook before class. Her exams are very difficult and she does NOT prepare her students well for the exam. The questions are always worded weird and it is confusing. She throws a fit if she hears side conversations. She is a nice person but an awful teacher.

Terrible. First off, class is pointless because nothing she teaches is on the exams, but mandatory for the points. For the 3 hour credit class this was, there was way too much material. In class assignments every time + a pre class assignment every time. During the reproduction unit, she put a photo of her and her husband on the slide. So weird.

The simple answer is that professor Brazeal is terrible. Her lectures are lackluster, and it is very difficult to retain information from them. Additionally, the slides she provides are bare-bones and lack much of the content you are tested on. This means that you are heavily reliant on the textbook. Her communication with her TA's is very poor....

Professor read straight off the slides for 3 months. She is the most boring professor I have ever had, and I left every lecture feeling dumber than when I walked in. DO NOT TAKE! I had to read the book, and study for 15+ hours for each exam to get an A. When it is easier to get an A in gen chem than in life 120, something is wrong.

Class is required but a waste of time. Her lectures are boring and not helpful. I wouldn't take class with her unless you can teach yourself or have lots of bio background. Her slides are repetitive and don't make sense. About 25% of your grade is participation, which is nice. She/TAs are nitpicky when it comes to grading free response

Regret not checking here before taking her class. She's the worst professor you can ever have for a biology class. Reads unorganized slides for three months. Many unneeded assignments that you won't have to do with different profs. Yelled at students and kicked some out for taking pictures of codes. Makes you feel very dumb if you ask a question...

Get ready to read and attend all lectures. While she posts the lecture videos, you must show up to get in-class credit. You have to read the chapter(s) ahead of class to fully understand what she is lecturing about. There is a lot of studying and making sure you can write answers out for exams.

Dr. Brazeal was the worst professor I have ever had. She had assigned readings that were unhelpful to what we were tested on. Her lectures were unorganized and the questions we were asked on the in class assignments, homework, and exams had nothing to do with the materials given to us. I had to teach myself the entire semester.

She is the worst professor I have had so far. She treats us like middle schoolers and takes attendance 2 separate ways every day, including paper/pencil worksheets that do not get looked at. This class has over 1000 points in it, and attendance is a vast majority of it. Lectures are so boring, unhelpful and a waste of time. DO NOT TAKE HER

Awful. Tests are scheduled on the same weeks as chem exams, only available Friday-Monday, so you have to take it over the weekend. Homework and tests are almost identical, but lectures are too simplified for the questions on hw/test. Does not read course evals or change anything about the course and does not know why some topics are in HER slides.

Attendance tracked two different ways as if this is high school and we aren't adults. Explained concepts the same way with the same images over and over as if it would make more sense the ninth time. Easy class, but not because of her. Simply reads off of the slides. Schedules her exams poorly in relation to other department exams.

Brazeal requires way too much work for an intro level bio class. Specifically in the photosynthesis and cellular respiration unit, she does an awful job at explaining things. Even when I went to her office hours I would often leave more confused then I was when I walked in. Also coming from someone who took chemistry first she is wrong.

very boring lectures, and the lectures do not help for the test. There is practice exams available but those do not help you suceed om the exams. Exams are much different then the practice exams.

Avoid at all costs. You'll still fail the exams after studying for days :(

The course design is poor. Pre-class quizzes, homework quizzes, and exams do not seem to have been proofread for obvious grammatical and syntax errors at all. Some questions are undecipherable. Access to the rubric is unavailable while writing short answers. The graphs are nearly impossible to understand. Time management during lectures is poor.

Lectures are her chaotically reading off slides because she has so many topics to cover. If you are thinking "she can't be that bad." You'll regret it when you are in the DLC looking at a multi paragraph drop down true false question, with three more multi paragraph follow up questions behind it. I feel like that summarizes the class pretty well.

Sitting through one of her lectures feels like trying to read a book while on a roller coaster. Listening to her genuinely makes me more confused. Then you'll go take a two hour test with four essay questions and every question is trying to trick you.

Everything learned in class has basically nothing to do with the exams. Gives out a practice test before the exam and then questions (essays too) are completely different on the test. Also if you think 2 hours will be enough, check again! Do not take if you want to be happy honestly. Take it at a different school if she is your only option.

She tries to get people to participate in class, but you can tell that they don't want to be there. She spends lots of time on these in-class questions, and it wastes lecture time. She does not post the assignments promptly. She posted her exam late, and posted an assignment due at 11:30 am at 10 pm or later, which took over a month to grade.
