be sure to change to pass/fail.
I usually like math and am pretty good at it.But with her I didn't understand anything she was teaching. She jumped around A LOT, and didn't explain things very clearly. I wouldn't recommend her.
The quizzes are way harder then what was covered in class. She often makes comments about how proud she is that she gives us stuff on the quiz that we didn't learn in class. Several people dropped the class halfway through the semester.
She was very rude to kids to asked questions more then once. She got frustrated when we didn't get it right away. You feel like you definitely can't come to her at all for anything. Terrible teacher.
I started in Math. 119 then came back to take this class because I had trouble in 119 and this is the one be4 it; by far the worst math teacher I have had out of about 6 of them. I am more confused then i was when I started. Teacher is very inconsiderate and rude!! Don't take her class!!! I WARN YOU!!!
I absolutely love this class with Mrs. Grappin. She is very clear with her teaching and makes sure everyone understands the subject before she moves on to the next section. I highly recommend taking her classes because she is very helpful. If you want a better understanding she will help you. TAKE HER CLASSES!!!
Easiest and most helpful math teacher I've ever had. All the people leaving negative comments probably made little to no effort in studying or understanding the material. Don't know how you can get anything less than an A in her class.
Katie, is a very good professor. Helps when needed, always there even if you need someone to talk to. Shes very understanding. Always get homework, but thats the point of college? Dont come to college if your not ready to do the work.. Shes also a very funny professor!
Katie is an extremely nice teacher. I took her in FA13 and will be taking her again in W13. She is very understanding and helpful. If you don't understand, just ask, she is willing to help. I am very pleased with the way she teachers math. Also, you will have homework every night, but that's college! :)
I love Katie! I think she is super helpful and understanding. She's got some negative reviews but in my experience with her if you don't pay attention (talk or play on your phone) and then ask a lot of questions she gets UNDERSTANDABLY irritated. So be respectful and you'll like her. She is really funny and nice.
Katie is fantastic. I have always struggled with math, and after taking her class I find myself wondering why it ever seemed so difficult. She goes over the homework, answers any and all questions, and works with students individually. There's a fair amount of homework, but you are given plenty of time to do it.
Katie is by far the greatest math teacher I have ever had. in my four years of college, this is the only math class I've ever passed with an A. she made it very understandable and seemed easy. I gave up a day of work at my job to sign up for her 119 class immediately. As long as you're taking it seriously, it's almost impossible to not get an A
Homework is mandatory, and will make or break you. Test can get difficult at time. Kaite was very confusing at times, and sometimes said, "If you don't do this, you will fail" Which was intimidating at times. If you are not strong in math, do not take her class. She does give study guides (but are equally confusing haha)
Katie (not Kaite) was an excellent teacher. I highly recommend taking her. The class's atmosphere was fun, despite being a math class. The homework was difficult enough to challenge, but she was always ready to help.
I hate math. But I got my first A with her. I was very thankful to have her as a teacher. She was funny and could take a joke which made class enjoyable. SHe helped everyone constantly and didn't mind questions. She emailed back quickly. Great for math 119. Everything from 119 is in 122 and it has helped me so much! cant believe how much math I ret
Katie is willing to help you and will answer any questions that you have. I went to her multiple times before or after class with questions and she was more than willing to help me out. She does assign writing assignments which I thought were not fitting for the class and the criteria for them was unclear. Otherwise, she was a wonderful teacher
This teacher is not an easy person to get along with. She gets a kick out of making your life difficult, teaches basic problems then puts very complex problems on a test. If its not done the way she wants it you get no points. writing assignments are very unclear. She acts like your 5 years old and doesn't treat you like an adult. Very rude person.
Overall great teacher and would recommend to anyone.
Not a very nice person and rude. Puts random problems on test that aren't covered on study guide or homework. Comments on how she is having a bad day so don't make it worse on her. She gets an attitude when you're not understanding something right away. She brags about how difficult she is going to make problems. Do not take her class.
Katie was a pretty good professor. She gets irritated if you have a lot of questions, so not having a strong math background will not go over well. She is a hard grader. 10 point assignments some of which only have 2 problems. You miss one you fail the assignment. First time I haven't gotten an A in a Math class. Her study guides are confusing.
Katie was an excellent professor. If you struggle, she makes herself available. She is clear on what will be on tests, and gives out study reviews. She teaches you what you need to know, but is up to you to do the work! I recommend her because she wants all her students to succeed.
I loved having Katie as my professor! This was my second math class with her and I did not regret it. I would definitely recommend to anyone. If you are having trouble with homework she will meet with you before class to help look over homework and see what went wrong. Overall one of my favorite teachers at Delta.
Kaite is young and tried to be cool with the class but gets really stern at times. Her grading wasn't ideal throughout the semester but she had a chance to make up points on the final (saved my butt). She is always available for meeting outside of class.
You have to understand her way and realize she's going to make you work for your grade. Sometimes she can come off as rude and a know it all. She's always available to help but won't cut any slack with grading.
Katie was a very chill math teacher, and if you did what was expected in class, I can't imagine anyone having a difficult time with her. She is very thorough with the material and often gives the notes as handouts to follow along with. I would sign up for a MTH161 course with her next semester if it was offered.
Katie has been anything besides an ideal professor. She does not even try to come off as nice. She grades very harsh. She will pick apart your homework causing you to loose a lot of points, which is not good for math because homework often saves your grade. She does easy problems on the board and then fills her tests with difficult ones. Stay away!
I should have just slid her my $400 and walked out the first day. Katie grades very harsh and is a very rude professor. She gives you easy problems for homework and then stuffs her tests full of difficult ones. Thought she would save our grades with the final. No. Half the class dropped, then the other 75% that didn't drop failed. Please don't take
Math is a strong subject of mine so I took this as a blow off class to boost my GPA. This class was a joke. Even though my answers were right, I got the majority wrong because they were not done "her way". She gives you reviews for tests that in no way resemble the actual test. Homework isn't useful at all. There are weekly math "essays". Stupid.

Even though my answers were right, I got the majority wrong because they were not done "her way". She gives you reviews for tests that in no way resemble the actual test. Homework isn't useful at all. There are weekly math "essays". Like why?
In all my years of education I never even DREAMED I would encounter such a shameless excuse of a professor! Last I checked, my peers, myself, and even the tax payers of this community who have funneled money into the community college are paying for professors to TEACH, not to coast through lectures and give insanely hard tests!
Horrible! Don't take this class!
Very Very Very bad professor, should not even be allowed to teach in an elementary school. Looked at by students, co-workers, and friends as an idiot. Only reason that she still works there is no one else wants to teach trig!
Goes over a new lesson with 10 minutes left of class trying to cram everything, doesn't go over homework , doesn't give breaks, test and quizzes are nothing like the ones on the board, seems like a nice person but terrible fast paced teacher.
This is my second time taking Katie's class and I liked her much more this time. She was engaging and seemed to care if her students learned. The biggest issue is that I would get really good grades on homework and quizzes but would fail the tests. Even though I would study for hours. Reviews do not reflect the problems on the test.
Basically the only thing in the class you get points for is quizzes and tests but good luck getting those points. Even if you get the right answer and show work not doing it HER way will cost you 75% of the points! My class of 28 half dropped by the end and those who were left had Ds and Cs with the best grade in the class being a C+
Katie is great if you are a student who doesn't mind working for your grade. If you want a slack off class, do not take her. She will respect you if you show her respect. Her teaching worked for me. I felt prepared going to take the tests, but my scores did not reflect that.
Katie is a great professor. She offers office hours but she is very open to working with students more than her office hours allow if you ask. She can be tough but she pushes you so you do well. She spent over 5 hours with me day after day after I had surgery and got behind. Work hard and you will do well.
Would take again. Katie makes herself available whenever needed. She has office hours but will also make time for you. She doesnt go easy on you but how else are you suppose to learn? Very funny and personable. Show up to class when youre suppose to, put in effort, do your homework, and go to office hours.
I struggle with math, and she barely would help me. She always had a terrible mood during class. Katie also did not dress appropriately for a teacher. Did not explain any of her assignments, so none of the class understood them till she went over it. I would not recommend taking this class if math is a trouble subject for you. Barely passed it.
Katie was a good professor. She had a more non traditional approach to her tests but everything was decently understandable. She is very willing to work with students if they do not understand the material. Be forewarned, she did require an out of class test done in the testing center. May not be a big deal for most, but an issue for others.
I took Katie for Precalc and learned a lot. Her class is difficult but not impossible. Having a good background in trig does help but she covers the material well and is willing to help you when you ask. If you aren't confident doing math without a calculator you probably shouldn't take her. I had no problem with this as the tests are split.
Katie is one of the WORST professors I've had so far. Homework is worth only 50 points and there is two exams worth a total of 250 points. She is a very hard grader and if you don't do problems her way it's wrong. I would strongly encourage to take this class with someone else if possible.
She is not a good prof at all. Created a terrible learning environment. Lectures student's that walk in a couple minutes late.. This isn't high school continue with your teaching...
Katie is very thorough and playful with the classroom. She gives a chance for you to get help before class, during, and was able to make appointments outside of if needed. Though sometimes she was kind of irritable it was due to people taking, ignoring the no phone rule, ect. Otherwise a very caring, kind, and good math professor, would take again.
I had Katie for MTH119 and MTH151 and I would recommend her to anyone. She is a great instructor and is very accessible outside of class if you need help. Be aware that she does not allow electronic devices in class! Tests and quizzes aren't hard if you keep on top of the homework and get help when something is unclear.
Katie goes very fast when going over material. Her examples are not too helpful to a person who does not know what they are doing because she will say some steps aloud and then show her work for other steps. very confusing.
Katie goes very fast throughout the class period and is very hard to keep up with. I spent more time and learned more at the tutor than I did in class.
She is a real gem, she is super kind and makes jokes all the time really love this professor. Homework wasnt bad at all and over all is a nice class with her she makes it fun.
Terrible teacher works extremely fast. She brushes off your complaining and requires a graphing calculator even though she rarely let us use it. If you struggle with math stay away!!
Nice lady, but if you struggle with Math she is not the teacher for you. She crams material and students are still struggling with the last section covered. She jokes with people but then when they are out of line she gets annoyed. Weekly quizes where she cares more about your missed labeling then you getting the answer right or the work you did.
Katie talks too fast and drags out material and classes. She acts very strict and treats her students like kindergarteners. Her class was dreadful to go to and very difficult to pay attention. Material that was easy, was hard to follow. However, she does try her best and care about teaching. I do not recommend!
So difficult and not understanding.
Katie seems like a nice person, but not a great professor. If you take this online, she drags her videos out and grades papers very hard, if its not done her way its wrong.
4-5 assignments a week but since we were online we only had videos to watch to learn the information
Katie was HORRIBLE!!! Talks way too fast and is extremely condescending when you don't understand something. If something is not done her way you're getting bad marks for sure. She treats us like we are highschool students when lecturing about any little thing that annoys her. Not easy to stare at for more then 20 minutes either. Sorry, not sorry.
I would never have this professor again. She talked to us like we were middle schoolers, talked crap about her last semester class, blamed a lot of us at cheating because "we didn't do it her way". She confused me a lot in her videos that she uploaded. I thought she was really rude.
Worst teacher I have EVER had. She makes passing almost impossible. Her expectations are completely ridiculous. She expects 32 hours of study time per week, and the assignments reflect it. I have never had a teacher assign so much work. She expects you to watch hours upon hours of her youtube videos and take detailed notes on them.
Expects notes ranging from 13-20 pages a week that are only 30 points of your grade. You spend more time trying to get everything done than to actually learn. Expects 32 hours of homework a week almost impossible with other classes let alone personal life. Only answers emails from 8-5 on weekdays but has assignments due on the weekend.
katie is extremely narcissistic and is not helpful when it comes to points being taken off on quizzes or tests. she answers questions with an attitude and is not very nice to her students one on one. if you miss a class, she will not give you the material from that day. she takes no excuses and you have to figure it out for yourself.
WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD AT DELTA!! The notes we take in class barely cover what the homework is about and she expects you to get it done in 4 days. You have to look at outside resources(which are not provided) to even understand the question. Grades were mainly based off of tests and quizzes which are a lot like the homework. Do not take!!!
This teacher only gives 10min videos and you have to use a different program that does have a book but it doesnt help if you arent sure of what its talking about. I didnt pass this class. I was on the presidents list and have never failed a class before. DO NOT TAKE HER IF OTHER instructors are available. She doesnt care if u fail.
Lecture notes and homework are a lot of work and take up a lot of time to complete especially given that they are worth very little points.
Katie is AWFUL!! Basically all of the grade relies on tests, which we arent allowed to use anything except a calculator/occasional formulas on. HW and notes make up for such a tiny portion of the grade, but they are SO time consuming. She refuses to offer extra credit. Terrible for anyone who isnt a good test taker. Avoid at all costs!!
Online lectures must be watched and then later graded on notes taken over lecture.
Heavy workload. You are supposed to copy her long online lecture notes word for word then scan and turn in which takes hours weekly but count for very few points compared to the tests. Tests have a warning that using notes is cheating which makes taking the word for word notes puzzlingly pointless. Only plus is her lectures do cover all material.
Professor Grappin had very little lack of respect for her students. It was very clear that she would assume the worst in you and would be spiteful because of it. Expect your questions to be answered as if it's a detriment to her to be helping you (or not answered at all). Her "teaching" is difficult to learn let alone master. Avoid this teacher.
This class would have been fine if the homework was worth more than one point. I spent hours doing homework assignments earning 100% to receive only 1 point. There were also weekly notes you had to print, take, and then scan to upload them. The tests however, where all worth 100 points. If you are not a good test taker do not take this class.
She's a great professor, cares about her students, and is accessible outside of class. But, she moved through material quickly, would give unannounced quizzes, and each homework assignment was only worth one point, even if you spend hours on it. If you ask questions, she does help you understand the content. Go to class, otherwise you will be lost.
Summary: Uptight, strict, disrespectful when asking for help, degrading demeanor, etc. I could go on. I wouldn't recommend it. NOT worth taking her course. Not true, but presumably, you have to be gifted in math to be one of her "good students." Not confirmed, but that's the vibe it gives off
Terrible professor not taking any class with her again
Do not take her if you have trouble with math! Your grade is based solely on how you do on the tests. Homework is only worth 50 pts for your final grade but has 2 sections due every night before class. Goes through lectures way too fast. She loves fractions and expects you to know how to use them. I do not recommend
she was not a good teacher was never clear on how to do the homework problems. when you had a question no matter big or small she would make you feel so dumb. so be prepared to not ask any questions. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS
Passionate about what she teaches. Though my class was test-heavy she provided time before each test to go over any questions or review problems that students were having difficulty with. But I will add that participation was a must if you wanted to fully grasp any material that was being taught. Overall I thought she was great!
The beef I have with this woman is immeasurable. She has an attitude, miserable af, and her notes dont help you learn. Expects you spend 30 hours on the class, Miss I'm a working college student, chill out. Literally take this course with someone else and save yourself the headache and tears.
All her homework is nothing like what she makes you do in her hours of mandatory notes. Please don't take her class.
She makes you do hours of notes every week. The notes do not help with studying or learning at all. I took this class online and it was extremely difficult to learn anything from the notes and homework. The dynamic of the class is unproductive.
Teaching is unclear and very confusing, if you ask for help you won't get much understanding, tests are often, and would never take this class with this teacher again.
Frist her teaching a very fast paced and confusing, and each homework assignment is only worth one point no matter how long it takes, the whole grade for the class is based on tests. She makes you feel like an inconvenience if you ask any questions and rolls her eyes anytime someone raises their hand and she never goes over the homework.
I'm was an all A student until I met Katie. She's a horrible professor, and not flexible or helpful whatsoever. Please, for your own sake avoid her class at all costs. If she's the last professor available? Don't take it. Do summer classes, wait until next year, do ANYTHING but take her class.
Katie is a good professor. Her lecture outline is pretty straightforward, and she breaks down the concepts in a way we can understand. If you miss one lecture, you will be behind, so attendance is critical to pass the class. We have suggested homework covering a few questions from the textbook, which is optional but very helpful. Graded by exams!
There are zero graded quizzes or homework assignments. I was only graded from 4 tests and the final exam. It was a difficult course, but she offers fair time for review and answers any questions from test reviews. She also gave super helpful formulas for the test which made the class way easier.
This professor was the worst start I've had to my college career. Do not take this class unless you are really really smart. The homework is worth 1 point and takes hours to do, the tests are very hard and she is full of attitude and just not a great girly to work with. You're welcome!
