She is super lecture heavy. While teaching she'll ask if anyone needs something explained again, and even if someone says yes she will move on. She will also finish material that will be on the up coming test and continue teaching past what will be on the exam. She is rude and does not care what you have going on in your life unless its chemistry.
Lectures are horrible. She will move on even if students have questions. She moves extremely fast to the point where she will not explain things... She'l just do them and expect you to figure it out. She is extremely rude and is only interested in talking to you if its about her or chemistry. She is very rude and does not care unless its chemistry.
You have 5 regular exams that will have about 3-4 ch worth of content on them for 100 points each. Than a massive 18+ page final for 200 points at the end. Add the normalized homework, lab grade, and clicker extra credit and thats your entire grade. She goes extremely fast in lecture to the point where she teaches past whats on the upcoming exam.
if you dont take the prelab quiz for next weeks lab before midnight on Sunday every week -even if your lab isnt until Tues- you will get kicked out of lab and earn a 0 for lab that week. SO I URGE YOU to make sure you take them on time. have an I-clicker and attend every lecture for the ENTIRE period. Good luck if you have her, it was a rough one
One of the best professors i've had at BSU. Does go fast, but answers questions very in depth and offers TONS of extra credit. Clickers are a big deal so you must go to class but she is a great professor and very personable.
One of my fav. Doctors of all time!!! It was a true honor being jn her class!! She is a great teacher, and she's hilarious! She's a friend outside of class and a mother inside. I have soooo much respect and admiration towards her! She is extremely knowledgable, a little fast paced but make sure u attend every lecture of hers and u'll get an A!
Dr. Lawrence has been one of the best i have had so far. Shes great in lab and really seems to want to know her students. She is very helpful and answers all questions.
Terrible professor. She would try and show us how to do equations and would mess up and get the wrong answer multiple times a week. If you asked her a question or were confused about how to do something, she would treat you as if you were the dumbest human being alive. I barely passed her class and I studied every single day.
Prof Lawrence lectures heavy, but she is very open to feedback on what the class needs to succeed. PRINT the notes for the week before coming into class!! Everything you need is on blackboard, shes very accessible via email. Better than other chem profs!
BEST. CHEM. TEACHER. EVER. She is the reason I am doing so well. Go to class every single day. She always offers up to 5 extra credit points on each test. Sometimes she will also end class early and open it up for a study session, but make sure you stay because she will occasionally offer and extra credit clicker point. Put in the effort!
She is the best chemistry professor I have had at BSU! Her notes are very helpful and she does a ton of examples to make sure you are really understanding! As long as you are trying, she is more than happy to help you! She also gives some extra credit. She's very personable and comes to class with a smile on her face every day.
Dr. Lawrence is awesome! She is so nice and really cares about her students succeeding. The class is tough, but she is always willing to help and gives extra credit.
She truly care about her students and teaching the course as best as she can. She takes student feedback and makes reasonable changes. You will need the webassign code which comes with an online book to help you with homework.
Dr. Katie Lawrence made a hard class like Chem 101 a lot easier and enjoyable. She always gives up to 5 points extra credit on every exam and her lectures are interesting. She is very clear on what to expect on the exams and the only homework is a Webassign that is due at the start of a new chapter.
Dr. Lawrence is the sweetest professor I've ever had. Coming into college I was extremely nervous for chemistry, but she made the learning process easy and enjoyable. If you're a student who generally struggles with chemistry, she's the professor for you. She's caring, easy to communicate with and keeps class exciting. Studying hard pays off!!
Dr. Lawrence genuinely cares about how well you do in her class! She makes sure you are understanding the material and encourages you to let her know if you're having trouble or have questions. She gives lots opportunities for extra credit and also gives lots of worksheets and activities for extra practice. Best chem teacher I've ever had!!!
Dr. Lawrence is such a good chemistry professor. She cares so much about each one of her students and she takes the time to make sure everyone has a good understanding of topics. She prepares everyone for the exams with study sessions and lots of outside resources. Also, be sure to go to lectures for extra credit opportunities on upcoming exams!
Great teacher nothing more I can say
She is very dedicated to her job and is always available to the student no matter what is happening in her life. She's awesome!
dr. lawrence is an amazing teacher! especially when it comes to chemistry. she provides guided lectures, which help with learning the material. webassign homework is doable, having 7 days to do it. the lectures are fun, the book is rarely used, and she does a really good job at explaining the material.
The class was fairly difficult (about the same difficulty as any CHEM course), but Dr. Lawrence does a really good job of giving you lots of extra material to make sure you understand the ideas that will be on the exams.
Dr. Lawrence teaches her lectures so the harder subjects become easier to understand. She relies on interaction with her students during lectures and saying something when they don't understand. She gives through lectures explaining everything you need to know for homework and tests.
Overall the class was easy and enjoyable. The homework assignments were a bit tedious, but unlimited attempts are allowed, so it is easy to get 100 on the homework. Labs took forever and were boring, but manageable. She is a very specific grader, do pay close attention to directions. If you go to class regularly, you should do fine in the class.
She is amazing teacher. She provided the class with fill in notes so you can really pay attention when she's speaking instead of writing the whole time. She is always willing to show examples. She is a master at making sure she is available if you need extra help. She gives 100 attempts on homework and extra credit. It's not hard to pass the class.
She is a very good teacher and is always willing to help.
Dr. Lawrence is an amazing professor! She makes the content easy to comprehend and is always willing to do extra examples when needed. She also provides a 5 point extra credit opportunity for every test which helps so much!!!
She's a great professor to have and she makes herself available after lectures to ask any questions you have. She also grades in a timely manner and responds quickly to emails. She makes lecture interesting.
Very honest professor, I believe she tried to make the course smooth but because of the content its a very rocky class. Take time study and attend study sessions.
Dr Lawrence truly wants her students to succeed and puts a lot of effort into every class. The class may be difficult at times, but I would 100% recommend Dr Lawrence! She prepares us very well and makes herself very available for extra help or questions. Provides extra credit for each test which is a great boost. Absolutely a great professor!
Pretty decent professor, shes pretty blunt and upfront about grades. Attend lectures, get correct answers on iclicker. Take the time out to attend study sessions and seek extra help if you need it.
Very convenient notes set up. Print out notes, follow PowerPoint youll be good. Dont forget your iclicker youll need it for EVERY class. Take the time to attend office hours and study sessions helps a lot when preparing for exams. If you dont get all the guided lectures filled out go see her material is complex but she trys to make it easier
Dr. Lawrence is my favorite professor I've had. She is so caring and genuinely wants her students to succeed. Despite whatever is going on with her life and her health, she is always accessible when needed and does her best to keep in touch with students (and send us dorky videos). Would highly recommend to anyone taking C101!
I like the class but I feel like there is too much time spent on practicing multiply problems that only need to be gone through once or twice, not six times. Other than that its a great class and she offers you multiply options for getting help.
I love Professor Lawrence. She is always willing to help and compensate her office hours. She wants every one of her students to pass and doesn't purposely try to make you fail. She does clickers every class, so it's not worth it skip. She gives quick feedback and does her best to make sure you understand what she is teaching.
her powerpoints are very helpful
Dr. Lawrence is an amazing professor with a very straight forward lecture that is easy to understand if you pay attention. You can not pass the class if you don't attend class. Textbook is not needed. Webassign is way more challenging than her tests. Overall, very good teacher.
You need to be in class and paying attention in order to do well. She is always willing to help students, but the student needs to seek out her help.
Dr. Lawrence is a great professor and genuinely cares about her student's success. Although chem 101 will be a challenging course no matter what, she made it a lot less stressful to get through. She is pretty much always available to give you help and offers extra credit points for almost all exams. I highly recommend taking her!
Dr. Lawrence is awesome, she's very sweet and cares about her students. Don't be afraid to ask her questions and go to her office hours, she is very helpful. If you're taking Chem 101 then take it with Dr. Lawrence.
My favorite teacher I have ever had. She makes it easy to take notes and follow along, she answers emails very fast, she makes tons of extra practice work sheets she makes study guides that really really help with the test along with her guided lectures which is like a mini study guide for each lecture and she is very friendly and approachable!!!
Dr. Lawrence is an amazing teacher by far she gives you plenty of time to do work outside of class and makes you work for the grade. She gives you plenty of material so you can understand what is going on and she answers her email very fast. I like how she really cares for us students and is always there to answer questions.
I have loved having Dr. Lawrence in class. She makes learning Chemistry fun and exciting. She does her best to make herself available for questions or extra help and gives out a lot of extra credit. She is an amazing professor and truly makes this class as easy as she can.
When I took chemistry in High School, I did not understand anything and I barely passed the class. But Doctor Lawrence explains everything so clearly and is open to any questions. Although studying is required, it is easy because she provides a lot of study guides and guided worksheets that correlate with the test.
Dr. Lawrence is by far one of the best professors/teachers I've ever had. She explains material very well and gives a lot of examples. The class is very test heavy, but if you do the study guide and study a lot you should be fine. Attendance is mandatory because of the amount of material you learn each day. She gives a lot of extra credit too!
Very upbeat personality that makes lectures more enjoyable and not so boring. Gives lots of easy extra credit opportunities and gives plenty of information about tests to prepare you.
Dr. Lawrence is my favorite professor out of them all. She is always willing to explain material differently if you don't understand it. She will stop teaching in the middle of class if someone would like to go over another example. Also, she gives the best extra credit opportunities. I highly suggest having Dr. Lawrence as your professor.
She is amazing. She teaches very well in a way that you can understand the concepts.
Dr. Lawrence is most definitely my favorite professor and I'm so grateful to have gotten her for my Chem101 class. She is a very caring professor who will do anything to help you understand the material, go to her office hours very helpful. This class can be a tough one, ask questions and you'll be just fine. Attendance is necessary to pass.
She's an amazing teacher and she takes the time to make sure you get what she is teaching by showing many examples and asking questions and lots of Iclicker points
There is homework every week that can be very tough, so don't wait until the night before it's due. The exams are tough but not impossible. Just go to class and study each chapter objective before.
Dr. Lawrence is an amazing teacher . Shes clear about all the topics. She makes sure everyone has an understanding about what is going on before she proceeds.
Class is hard, but if you study faithfully and use all your resources you'll be okay. Dr. Lawrence is a great teacher and really makes it interesting. Attendance is necessary for clicker points and notes.
At first this class was quite tough, and of course this is my first year. After getting a feel into everything it has become less difficult. By changing my study habits I've been able to raise my grade up to a B.
The class is definitely a challenge. Attendance isn't required, but you will lose iclicker points if you don't go. Attendance and homework grades barely affect your grade so don't count on homework to pass you. Lab also is only worth 15% of the class. The homework gives you 100 chances so it's a pretty easy grade.
You have iclicker questions everyday in class, so she uses this for attendance. The course moves quickly, but she offers extra credit for every exam and makes herself available pretty much every day. She shows lots of helpful videos and has good energy. She's very willing to help anyone who is struggling.
I am not the best at Chemistry, but I definitley survived her class. Dr. Lawrence does her best with how much material has to be covered. She gives examples, extra credit, and lots of opportunities to stay on track with study sessions, extra worksheets, and reasonable office hours. If you have to take Chem 101, I highly recommend her!
Dr. Lawrence works hard to make sure you understand the course material and are well prepared for exams. She provides extra credit, lecture notes, guided lectures, study guides, and extra practice worksheets. She always responds promptly to emails and is very accommodating for office hours/extra help! I highly recommend Dr. Lawrence!
Make sure you put in the effort and you will get a deserving grade. This course is hard but definitely not impossible. I love Mrs. Lawrence. She makes learning a little less boring and she always has a positive attitude and is willing to help you if you ask for it.
Really cared for her students and their success in the class.
Dr. Lawrence cares for students more than any other professor. She makes Chemistry an approachable subject. I had the opportunity to have her for lab as well and she would always make sure we understood everything before moving on. She covers things that are necessary and things that we will actually use. You can tell teaching really is her passion
Super kind, she truly cares how well everyone does. Each exam there is an opportunity for 5 points of extra credit, even the final. As long as you complete her study guides for each test, you will get an A. Attendance isn't mandatory, but there are clicker points in each lecture and lectures are the only way to get notes for each chapter.
Dr. Lawrence is a great professor. If you get to choose, definitely pick her class. She's very good at getting back to students and making sure everyone feels prepared for tests and understands their homework. She makes chemistry fun and genuinely cares about her job and her students!
Dr. Lawrence is a great professor. She makes the class interesting, and gives fill-out PowerPoints. There is weekly homework, but it is very helpful and she is quick to respond if you have any questions. Dr. Lawrence is very dedicated to her class and makes sure she is available as much as possible.
An absolute jewel to work with. Class is good, but is very fast paced. Homework is a breeze and she is very helpful if you can catch her one on one. Be sure to go to class to get the iclicker points.
Dr. Lawrence is an excellent teacher. Has great office hours. Always willing to help.
Great professor! Fun lectures and very helpful if you are struggling. Likes to make corny jokes, beware! Lots of material to to learn and tests can be tough but if you go to class and study you can do well.
Use your study guides! She gives plenty of helpful worksheets
11/10 would take again! Super helpful! Gives guided lectures everyday to help you follow along, and is very interactive!
Awesome teacher!
Dr. Lawrence gives you fill in the blank notes and also a guided lecture to help you follow along with the lecture. These are very helpful when studying for the tests. She also gives great study guides before the tests. She is very caring and cares about all her students.
The class has 5 exams and a final. She puts fill in the blank notes online and a guided lecture for every lecture with the most important stuff pulled out with practice problems on it. She uploads extra handouts if you need it. Amazing study guides. You get an hw assignment for each chapter. She does I-clicker points every class. Best professor!!
Dr. Lawrence is a great professor. She is very helpful when it comes to your questions. Her lectures are fast paced, but she gives you guided lectures that pull out the important info from each lecture. She gives out a lot of extra credit opportunities, and makes sure she is always available for office hours. She truly cares about her class!
Dr. Lawrence is a great professor. She is really enthusiastic and makes class enjoyable to be apart of. She is always open to talk and communicates quickly. She cares about her students way more than most do.
Dr. Lawrence is a great professor! She is truly dedicated to her job and wants everyone of her students to succeed. I loved this course with her.
Dr. Lawrence comes to class everyday excited to teach. She has many extra credit opportunities throughout the year and is very good communicator / quick responder.
If you can take Dr. Lawerance!!! You will not regret it. She is always able to help and cares for all her students. The best part is all the extra credit she gives. There's a lot of work for this class, but it is doable. I wouldn't get the book, I used it maybe 2 times the whole semester.
Dr. Lawrence was easily one of my favorite professors this semester. She clearly stated what was expectef out of the class on the first day of lecture. Her lectures were interactive. The tests were also fair and covered only what we had learned vis lecture. She made herself available for help very often. Easily one of BSUs finest professors.
This is my second time taking chem and I did exceptionally better with her than my old prof. She is a great teacher as long as you pay attention, you should do well. She actually makes me want to learn which is something i never feel, homework is really hard though.
Attendance isn't mandatory, but there are participation points given everyday. She goes over a lot of things in her lectures and hands out a study guide of sorts that you won't get unless you show up. She is communicative, has good office hours, and provides powerpoints for lectures. The class is hard, but she really tries to help.
They class is very manabable if you study and attend all lectures!
Dr. Lawrence is an awesome professor! She has great powerpoints that help you follow along in class, and she also gives out a lot of extra handouts for practice and to use to study for the exams! She's super helpful when it comes to needing another explanation if you don't understand something, and she is super nice and approachable!
Overall, pretty good prof. Would take her class again if I had too
I really enjoyed Dr. Lawrence's class. The powerpoints were super helpful and she also gave guided lectures to fill out during class. She gave us extra handouts when we would ask for them. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but if you didn't go then you would be missing notes and you would loose out on daily points. There were a lot of clicker questions.
She's a good professor but I find her very annoying. That said, she does make class very easy by providing a lot of resources to help you succeed. Overall, she's a good teacher and knows what she's doing, but I don't love her class. You don't need the actual textbook for lecture, but it's impossible to pass without getting the lab book.
Not a fan of chemistry, but Dr Lawrence made it a great class to take. Funny and caring, and a great teacher to boot.
Dr. Lawrence is great! Tough material but she explains things well. Takes attendance every class by answering clicker questions, and the clickers are graded. .4 points for just answering plus an additional .1 for correct answer. Goes quickly, extra credit opportunities for every exam, cumulative final based on previous exams. Online homework.
Class totals 1000 points, mainly from tests. Content can be confusing and difficult, but Dr. Lawrence is an amazing professor. She makes the concepts a lot clearer and is always open to explaining anything you are confused on. Extra credit available for every test (worth 5% of test). Lecture can get a little boring, but is necessary for iclickers.
Dr. Lawrence was a great CHEM 101 teacher. She did her best to make the material easy to understand and gave a lot of extra credit. You really need to attend class, get the iClicker points and study a few days in advance for each test. It is a tough course but she makes it a bit easier! I recommend picking her as your professor.
Dr. Lawrence is a really good professor for CHEM 101. This is an extremely hard class, and Dr. Lawrence is very helpful with the material. If you go to class and pay attention when she is going through examples, you will be fine. She offers a lot of extra credit and makes herself available outside of class for study sessions.
She makes a lot of mistakes on the work and work keys. She explains some things that may be confusing to people that are new to the material. Her exams are fairly easy if you study well, come to class, and do your best on the homework assignments. There are quite a few extra credit opportunities and ways to get easy points.
Lawrence is a fair professor but she is strict and a tough grader. Do not skip classes, clicker points helps. She gives tons of extra credit but makes the grading hard. Textbooks are not necessary and get the access code for online homework. Study the reviews she posts on canvas
Dr Lawrence is the worst professor I have ever had at BSU. She assigns weekly HW, weekly prelabs, weekly report and weekly quizzes, no rubrics. Her ego is so massive, try to ask for help and shell belittle you. Its even more ironic how she is incapable of doing her own problems. I had lectures cancelled early bc she forgot how equations worked.
