She's the best!
Personally, I thought this was a difficult class. I took 54 as a freshman and most people in this class are sophomores or even juniors. Her train of thought is not only hard to follow but she is often corrected by many students which is frustrating.
Yes it's hard - it's two hard classes in one. But Wehrheim communicates better than many math profs and has a good understanding of how students think. Very responsive to questions, writes clear notes as she goes, posts them online. Answers questions on Piazza. Only ever corrected on small computational errors. Dry humor. Work hard, you'll be fine.
Good luck with this one.
Where do I even begin with this one? Extremely difficult tests. Lectures are barely attended by anyone (60 or 70 out of 520 students). Goes beyond the scope of the text and the lectures within her exams. The only good thing is that she is responsive on Piazza to questions. If you're looking for a terrible time, she's all yours.
Very difficult to understand (partly because of the subject material, but mostly because her way of explaining is complicated and theoretical), exam questions are poorly worded and extremely difficult.
Notes were as a incomprehensible as her vocal voice. The only way you actually ended up knowing a concept was through the book, or through a GSI that actually cares (which I didn't have). Second midterm was a disaster, used confusing wording of questions and had you tested on material she barely covered.
She goes out of the scope of the syllabus into more theoretical concepts and proofs. So it is not enough to study from the book but the lectures are so boring that only 20% of the class attends. Key to have a good GSI. I guess she might be a good professor for someone passionate about the subject but I recommend not taking her to pass requirement.
If you don't take a class with Professor Wehrheim, you are really missing out. Her lectures were so easy to understand, and her tests are pretty straightforward. Although the material can sometimes get rough, she always explains so clearly when you ask for help.
Tests are on a whole different level compared to practice problems from the textbook. She knows the material well, but is disconnected from the students and the GSIs. She goes very deeply into the material during the lectures and talks about theory; it made things more confusing to me so I stopped going to lecture. Felt like an Honors class.
She's too passionate and unrealistic! Yes, she does know her stuff well, but that doesn't make anyone a good teacher. She's very hard to understand for 90% of the class. I went to lectures in the beginning and didn't understand anything(i read b4 class). Don't take her if you're not a genius or math major!!! I got an A- in math 53 so...
Very tough course; Nadler's class definitely has it easier. She's brilliant, but her teaching is very theoretical and hard to understand for the average student. Section will be your savior. You need to read the book, and ask questions on piazzago to office hours when you need it. Don't complain if you even tried to do this.
She was insanely incomprehensible during lectures and her notes seem like hieroglyphics. I used to watch her lectures at home on webcast, but sometimes she would upload them late. Reading the book became absolutely necessary, and her exams were more difficult than the practice problems or any other previous Math 54 instructors exam.
Packs a lot of material and does focus more on the theory. Lectures can be dense, but her posted notes are clear. To succeed: embrace her diff style, take adv of her helpful forum posts and office hrs. To fail: don't adapt, put all blame on her, skip leclec notes She genuinely wants students to learn "real" math. Challenging, but rewarding.
She's being penalized a little too unfairly from students who are sour about the second midterm. The second midterm was very difficult. However, the first midterm was pathetically easy, and she listened to our complaints and frustrations on piazza and made the final a lot easier. The final would also be worth more if you did bad on a midterm.
Spend a lot of time studying before and after class! Everything said here is true, but the depth of the material we learned was really unparalleled. If you put the extra time to understand everything theoretically and computationally--you will have a basis for more advanced ODEPDES and Linear Algebra. I feel like my brain has been rewired! Wow!
hard class, long lectures (I fell asleep a lot). But an amazing person, and she put in an enormous amount of time outside of lecture to answers questions on piazzain person. Also, she is a very fair gradertest maker and gave many chances to prove what we know. Very transparent and helpful grading system. I would take a class with her again.
People got mad at her about how hard her tests were, but she really listened to our feedback. She's flexible and adjusts her grading methods to account for how well we did what changes needed to be done. She genuinely cares about her students' success and is overall quite an inspirational person who taught us a new way of thinking math. Good!
Lectures are heavily based on theory rather than problem solving. Her notes are extremely well organized, however, lectures were still tough to follow so reading the textbook helped me a ton. She was very responsive to feedback and seemed like she cared about students. Would recommend as a professor, just be prepared to work hard.
Exceptionally confusing.
Bad teacher! So Confusing !! Lectures don't make sense, so messy and not organized ! makes you feel you are stupid. Definitely, not taking this professor ever again !
Wehrheim is a brilliant professor, but terrible teacher. Her decision to start with theory this semester threw a lot of students into the deep end. Her tests are significantly more difficult than the other professors teaching the class, and she does not articulate the material in a clear manner. Take this class with someone else and save yourself.
Good luck with this professor.
Her lectures are very confusing and it doesn't help that she jumps around chapters. Unless you have a very solid math background, I would not recommend taking a class with her.
Professor Wehrheim's emphasis on theory and practice as inseparable changed my perception of linear algebra. Having never taken a class on linear algebra, this class helped me to realize the power of the topic, and the beuty of its theory. Regardless, if you're willing to put in time to learn, this is a prof. you have take Math 54 from.
She's terrible at explaining the material. I could never tell what the point of a lecture was, and had a much better time when I just stopped going to class and watching Khan Academy videos for linear algebra instead. If you already have a good understanding of the material coming in, then it might not be too bad. Her tests aren't the worst.
Homework isn't mandatory, but you basically need to do all of it in order to survive this class. Her lectures were very deep, confusing, and theoretical and I didn't understand her a lot of the time, but you can just read the textbook and be fine, mostly. I found this class to be really hard, but if you put in the work you will be rewarded.
Prof Wehrheim really wanted her students to learn. She had lots of office hours and was responsive on Piazza. However her lectures were confusing and did not follow the books. She made the material way harder than it needed to be. During the first week of class she said her goal was to confuse us , but I ended up being confused the whole semester.
Lectures were very abstract and hard to follow, and she is a bad lecturer in general . I'd often walk away from lecture frustrated and feeling like I wasted 1.5 hrs. Going to the textbook for help was not always possible because she doesn't always agree with the book and teaches her own way. Exams are crazy hard as well
Katrin's lecture isn't related to the test at all. The materials given aren't helpful. She skips the lecture of four whole chapters at the very beginning of the semester, and makes everyone extremely confused by doing so, cuz she assumes that we all master matrix.
Professor Wehrheim might be bad at explaining things in lectures, but she is extremely patient with students who bother to visit her office hours. Personally, I improve more in her office hours than in lectures, even though lectures are manageable if you preview the materials by reading the book. She is a good algebra teacher overall.
Great algebra teacher. Even though her lectures might be clustered, she teaches it using her own style, the concept of the Ansatz highlighted as key. She really cares about her students, and despite her lack of clarity, makes up by giving our lecture notes diligently and telling us what concepts to sidestep that aren't important to her.
Take 54 with her if you actually want to learn about real math, not just how to compute stuff. Her emphasis on theory and concepts is beautiful. Not exactly the best lecturer, but the GSIs and the linear algebra textbook more than make up for it. She also wrote a nice little mini guide for PDEs, which imo was a lot better than the textbook anyways.
She's friendly and definitely cares about her students. Her lectures are decent, she tries to emphasize theory but amidst that emphasis and general disorganization, it's very easy to lose track of the basics of what she's talking about. Nevertheless, her approach to teaching the material (Ansatz-- educated guessing) was accessible and made sense.
Professor is perhaps one of the best professors that a university could possibly get. They definitely care about students a lot; they know everything in the class so well in term of not only the content but also organizing them. Many students find their class difficult, but I think the class is actually very easy if you study what they ask.
Wehrheim is incredibly kind and generous when it comes to their grading policy and tests. They offer to drop the lower 20% of your quizzes and homeworks and the tests are pretty straightforward. However, their lectures are horribly disorganized and the slides that she uses are dense. The latter part of the class doesn't follow the book either.
Prof. Wehrheim may not give the most organized lectures, but the order and method by which she teaches Math 54 concepts (an emphasis on theory, linearity, sets, maps, and transformations of space), make her class come together in a really nice way. Exams are fair, homework leans on the low end, and uses Campuswire instead of Piazza. I recommend!
I failed Math 54 with a different professor. I was scared. Then Prof. Wehrheim came along and changed everything. Brilliant professor, super easy to understand, good course structure and taught me linear algebra really well. Full marks to the professor and a must take if you need to complete Math 54.
They really emphasized the theoretical aspects of linear algebra. That being said, they knew that this kind of approach can be a bit harder to stomach and calibrated tests to be pretty easy in relation to the lecture material. They follow the text for linear algebra but the differential equations portion is taught almost independently from text.
Absolutely amazing professor. Their lectures can be theory and content heavy but the notes are super helpful. The lecture pace could be fast and confusing but preview beforehand and you'll do well. It is not easy but you'll definitely A LOT if you do care. (They are really nice. Attend the OHs.)
Prof. Wehrheim's approach to Linear Algebra is a bit different, starting with sets instead of matrices. They are a great math teacher and the lectures are easy to understand, but if you miss lectures you will fall behind very quickly. Differential equations part was harder. Doesn't allow cheat sheets on exams like other professors.
They puts more emphasis on topics unrelated to math on lecture. I get the whole anit-racism pedagogy but I need and want to learn! Quizzes and workload is fast paced but easy, however I don't know how much I will actually learn by the end of the semester with their style of teaching. If you can take another math54 Professor.
This Professor doesn't teach in lectures and instead takes an approach of letting the student teach themselves with her workscripts. I don't think it's bad to teach math in a way that students feel they're discovering it, but the problem is she doesn't teach. Her whole class structure is disorganized as well. This doesn't feel like Berkeley quality
The worst professor ever. You learn nothing.
She only sends workscripts which are harder to understand than the material. Maybe it's a problem with execution since she sounds caring, but us students are paying the price. I recommend watching someone else's lectures on the topic to actually learn, and just fill randomly the workscripts as they're for completion and useless.
Professor seems very caring, so I hate to write the following but: I have honestly given up in this class because no matter how desperately I want to learn, the format of the class makes it impossible to do so. Confusing WorkScripts, no clear direction. Please just go back to normal lecturing!
It's ironic how Professor Wehrheim aimed the class so everyone could understand linear algebra by the end of the semester, but due to bad execution more than the majority will leave without a good grasp on the subject. Her workscripts are "made" so you can learn math on your own but not everyone has time for this resulting in a bad scenario for all
Lectures are not helpful at all, theyre slow and unorganized. Most people just go to Paulins lectures to learn. I used to like math, but not so much anymore due to the workscripts. Ask a question during class and youll get told you shouldve already known that from the reading. Wehrheim is great at listening to student feedback tho.
Rather than teaching through a traditional lecture they provides students with workscripts so they can teach themselves the material in their own way of understanding things. While this seems to have good intentions it harms student learning more than it helps. If they taught normally rather than being lazy and don't teach then all would be good
If I had to retake this course, I'd make it a habit to read the textbook before attempting the WorkScripts. The WorkScripts are dense, yet poorly written and laden with confusing notation. The regrade policy during quarantine was generous, and assessments were fair. Getting a clear understanding requires a disproportionate effort. P.S., watch 3b1b.
I don't know why I pay so much tuition if she's not teaching anything and only sends useless workscripts.
Professor Wehrheim shouldn't be allowed to give class to undergraduates and specially for such a fundamental course for several majors. She has severely affected my health this semester with her unrealistic deadlines and workload.
Being in this course has been the worst experience I have had at Berkeley. Professor Wehrheim expects you to learn topics other professors explain throughout a week in a day. She says workscripts aren't graded for accuracy but GSIs WILL NOT give you credit for not solving the check-ins correctly. Avoid at all costs.
Worst professor ever, and very hypocritical.
If you don't have anything else to do throughout the semester and can learn weeks worth of concepts in a day then this is the class for you.
You know something is wrong in a class when only 20% of students watch the lectures (everyone else either watches Paulin or does something else). It was only by the middle of the semester when she started giving serious lectures. The problem is not her class is too conceptual, the problem is the workscripts
Math 54 with Wehrheim is the most obtuse math class I have ever taken. It's a struggle to parse their homework, and their lectures do little to alleviate that. It's nice to have a math class with no textbook, but the driest textbook in the world would be better than this. What's the point of having loose grading if nobody understands anyways?
"on the upside, the GSIs also report more conceptual thinking in this class - so I'm actually quite hopeful that you'll be able to transfer the skills we've been training to the real-life applications ahead." - Wehrheim Seems like an unrealistic goal when no one is doing the work or attending lecture, and in this case it's the professor's fault
I know that she is very professional in the field of Math, BUT she is unfit for teaching Math 54, which is supposed to be basic. She does not realize her mistakes while most of us complain about her workscripts. Learn nothing from this class and I just hope I can pass.
This professor doesn't care at all about the students' health. They send several topics to be learned in a day along with a homework testing does topics due the next day. Worst professor in the math department. And so self centered they really think students are learning despite constant criticism.
Don't take Wehrheim. You will end up self-teaching yourself everything and be miserable.
This Professor leaves you unprepared for applications in linear algebra while making your semester miserable. Don't take her course.
I didn't know it was possible for a Professor to make you hate something you love. Someone that makes you hate math shouldn't be teaching math, specially for undergraduates.
Professor Wehrheim stated at the beginning of the semester that this course structure was the product of several experiments throughout the year, however it turned out this semester was just another experiment with disorganized lectures and incomprehensible workscripts. For your sake don't take their course.
Taking Math 54 with Professor Wehrheim is painful, in fact it has given me gastritis because of the workload. And even worst is you learn nothing, so it makes your semester useless since you will have to teach yourself linear algebra again in the future.
Don't take this class with Wehrheim. You'll need to do a frustrating amount of self-study if you want any sort of geometric intuition. In the WorkScripts, expect insufficient motivation before you're plunged into long-winding series of computations. If you're an optimal student, you might do OK. Else, you'll pull out your hair and you won't grok.
Professor Wehrheim is the most racist math Professor in campus. Throughout the semester they used mathematics to gatekeep students able to work in stem. If you are looking for a fair class DON'T TAKE WEHRHEIM.
I'm studying pure mathematics so this class is very important for me. While I understand Wehrheim's intentions with the course structure it definitely doesn't work and the university must do something about it. Due to my experience and workload the class was manageable but the vast majority of students the class was incomprehensible.
The workload in this class isn't that much, the problem is since Professor Wehrheim doesn't give serious lectures you're left on your own with their workscripts. Thus you end up spending an unreasonable amount of hours on something that with good guidance and structure would be pedagogical. They're also very disrespectful to students.
Their grading is really unfair, they deliberately gatekeeps students from stem majors. Can't believe such professors exist at Berkeley.
I'm done with this class. I'm convinced Professor Wehrheim doesn't care at all about students' education. The workscripts were a cheap attempt on their part to not do any work. They doesn't answer questions in class and takes days to respond in CampusWire. What a low standard for a math instructor.
Professor Wehrheim has made me loose a semester because of their antipedagogic course structure. I might have an A- in my transcript but I haven't learned a thing about linear algebra.
Their class is too confusing! You learn nothing
Prof. Wehrheim is without a doubt the worst teacher I have ever had. You literally get taught nothing. Its like having atheist worst possible GSI as your profesor. I am doing fine in the class, passing or getting an A is not hard, but you will not learn a thing. I have learned more from YouTube in one night than Professor Wehrheim in a semester.
After this semester with Professor Wehrheim I can only conclude that the whole purpose of their course structure was to avoid giving quality lectures because she can't. As a result no one learns anything and on top of that she is very disrespectful with students and doesn't see them as human beings.
Some might find it surprising but if Wehrheim is representative of the linear algebra education at Berkeley then you can probably learn more from a free youtube video than this really expensive and low quality education.
If you really want and need to learn linear algebra I don't recommend you take it with Wehrheim. I haven't learn a thing this semester and would have to learn it again over the summer because it's really important for what I want to study.
Professor fills class with busy work that obstructs learning more than it helps. Take math 54 with her and you will end up wasting your semester because she doesn't teach anything.
So glad this semester is over. Taking linear algebra with Wehrheim is the worst thing I have done at Berkeley. You don't learn anything and affect your mental health. Her lectures are mediocre and her course structure is disorganized.
What's worst about Professor Wehrheim is that they still pat themselves on the back for their "job" done this semester. At best their "job" was mediocre, but in reality it was detrimental in the worst sense of the word. If you take your education seriously don't take a Professor that doesn't take themselves seriously
Worst math Professor at Berkeley. Lectures are disorganized and undirected, homework deadlines are unreasonable, and the homework itself is useless. As everyone else has said: you won't learn anything with Wehrheim.
Professor Wehrheim is amazing, I have no idea why someone is leaving such negative reviews except that maybe they disagree with them politically. This professor is caring and understanding and genuinely wants you to learn the material as well as how you will apply math to your actual life and career. Lenient grader too if you do your best!
Best Professor I have ever had. I have been memorizing and regurgitating math my whole life without ever really understanding the Why behind it. Professor Wehrheim changed all of that. I would recommend this class to anyone who is ready to engage with new ideas, not just vomit whatever a professor tells them just to forget when the class is over.
This semester has been a disaster. Almost no one went to lectures (and for good reason) and the vast majority of students didn't learn a thing about linear algebra. If have to take math54 as a prereq for another course don't take it with Wehrheim because you won't learn anything and you will end up wasting your semester.
Professor Wehrheim gives horrible lectures so prepare yourself to self study. The class is so severely disorganized it will give you a headache. If Math54 is your only challenging class you will be taking then maybe you will learn something, for everyone else this class will be pain and a waste of time.
Taking Math 54 with this Professor has destroyed my physical and mental health. I didn't learn ANYTHING despite going to lecture and completing all the workscripts. I'm going to take another linear algebra course next semester from another department to actually learn something. Fr don't take Wehrheim
I can't express how horrible was learning under Wehrheim this semester. The class is disorganized and unfocused, the assignments have unreasonable grading guidelines, and worst of all nor the Professor or the GSIs care about your learning. This class has by far the worst staff at Berkeley.
Prof Katrin is really empathetic and their grading criteria makes it easy to get a decent grade (>B) if you put in the work. The class was a little experimental (no midterms) but I feel like I got a lot out of it - especially as someone who struggles with math. The lectures were a little confusing but the course staff is really approachable to help
If Weirheim follows the same structure of SP21 in future semesters, I 100% do not recommend. The structure of the course was horrendous and led me to not learning anything because I had to learn everything on my own. You have to seek out a lot of your own resources to actually understand the material, and Weirheim was not very open to criticism.
Although professor Wehrheim's methods were unconventional and need some refinement I learned an immense amount about mathematics and myself. I came to Berkeley to take classes with professors who are at the top of their field and changing the way we learn. Professor Wehrheim embodies this kind of teacher more than anyone else. Give her a chance!
This semester Wehrheim structured the class in such a way you had no other choice but to selfstudy which made it really hard for people like me who struggle with math. The lectures were unclear and disorganized and if you asked any questions they would tell you to check the workscripts. This has been the worst class I have taken in my life.
The workload for this class was extremely unreasonable, they would send workscripts which are the "lecture" plus hw and give them out one day to complete it the next day. I wasted an entire semester by taking this course with Wehrheim who kept telling themselves that learning was being done despite constant criticism.
At the beginning of the semester Wehrheim told us the structure was the polished result of several experiments across several semesters of teaching. However at every point in the course the class felt improvised. I had never spent so much money on an institution just to self study and not learn anything. I don't recommend Wehrheim.
Wehrheim sends so much work to complete in a day it will drain you out if you have a full schedule and other responsibilities. And on top of the workscripts you also have to selfstudy which just makes you waste lots of time. If you value your time and your sanity dont take Wehrheim as you will lose a semester worth of time and your mental health.
Wehrheim is a professor that doesn't value your time, your health, nor your education. If you struggle with math you will struggle more and even if you're good at math but have other things to do like any other human being then you will also struggle. By the end of the semester you will be relieved but also worried because you didn't learn a thing
Wehrheim is the type of Professor who doesn't respond well to criticism (despite coming from a large majority), who is unclear and doesn't like responding questions. If this the type of Professor you're looking then take Wehrheim. If you want to learn in a healthy environment then this is not it.
I've been driven to write my very first post due to how poorly run this class is. I learned nothing from lectures, and the Workscripts are a lazy, unclear attempt for an explanation. My time, mental health, and efforts were wasted in this class. Wehrheim does not respond well to criticism, and I simply cannot recommend this professor to anyone.
Might as well just learn linear algebra through google because that's all you'll really use to "learn" throughout the semester.
The lecture is not that helpful.
Trust me. Don't do it.
Worst run class I've ever experienced. Professor acts like they care about the students and their learning but does not listen to any student or GSI feedback. Content is given through horribly written "work scripts" that don't give example computations and ask you to "come up with your own definitions" instead of explaining them to you. Don't take.
Reading materials gives no examples, few definitions, and no proofs (you have to prove the concepts yourself with no assistance). Problem sets have no solutions provided and the lectures don't have any walkthroughs for solving. The only bonus is the grading in this class is relaxed (albeit hard to understand despite the 20 page syllabus)
Each question you ask in this class will be answered by another question. The class has "workscripts" every week and you're expected to fill them by yourself without prior knowledge to the topics. It was a struggle to learn everything by myself, the questions are strangely worded and the prof is NOT helpful. Just take another class.
Their workscripts expect you to learn Math through blocks of text, and although students have said that it doesn't work, we are not offered any tangible examples. They claim to "value our input", but every suggestion that the students give is ignored or taken in the wrong spirit. Having learned Linear before, I was able to get by without attending
-Focuses more on concept understanding than pure computations
just as everyone else has stated, this class is horrible. very poorly run. The prof changed the final project assignment multiple times, which actually put certain students at a disadvantage because they planned ahead. The prof tries to act like they care about the marginalized community in math but really doesn't. I used to love math, now I dont
Way more complicated than it has to be and arguably less accessible than a normal math class.
This class is an unusual mix of being undoable to the extent that you simply don't learn linear algebra. Maybe 20% of this class knows basic linear algebra, the rest just ask GSIs for help because the prof wasn't helpful. Not exceptionally difficult material, just a horrible professor. The worst professor took at Berkeley.
The course is structured terribly and there's a lot of useless reading in the WorkScripts. The discussion sections were the only times I learned anything in this class. Luckily, there's a lot of opportunities to make up lost points and it's not exam-based.
This professors course is not terribly challenging to get a good grade in if you do the work, though it is a lot of work and its all very conceptual (lots of writing). You also basically have to teach yourself or learn in discussion section because the professor does not teach in lecture. You will not learn linear algebra by going to lecture.
This class was bad. And when I say bad, I don't mean Michael Jackson bad. I mean 2014 NFC Championship game bad. This class is very easy to get a good grade in, but the amount of effort and self-learning you have to put in is not worth it. The Workscripts were terrible and confusing, along with the lectures. It is very hard to learn in this class.
Professor Wehrheim's teaching style is different from most other professors I have had. Their lectures cover a wide range of topics, although not always about linear algebra. There is no homework, but there are daily check-ins for credit. You can use many different resources including the 30 page weekly workscripts, textbook, or YouTube videos.
I took this course two semesters ago, currently I'm taking classes which require linear algebra and now I truly feel the damage Professor Wehrheim did to me and the rest of the class. I did well in the course but if I hadn't studied linear algebra on my own I would be failing my current courses. This is Professor Wehrheim's legacy.
Math 54 with Wehrheim is very surface level and doesn't prepare you for situations when you actually need linear algebra. If you ever need to use things like SVD, Least Squares, Gram Schmidt, or upper triangularization, good luck because this class will not go in depth on these subjects. If you're interested in linear algebra, go with Paulin
This class was exhausting despite me coming in knowing most of the material. Wehrheim organizes their class in a well-intended yet confusing structure which hindered my ability to learn effectively. No midterms/final, only relatively easy weekly tests and 3 projects. However, the lectures and workscripts are a drag and make it so hard to learn.
Very easy A class, but you might not get much learning out of it. No exams - just 'projects' and quizzes which you can redo if you're not happy with your scores
Wehrheim is a terrible lecturer and teacher. Through a combination of incredibly complex grading structures, unequivocally useless teaching methods and a disdain for actually teaching, this teacher has managed to make my life life miserable for every moment of the class. Do not take this class if you want to learn or if you want to be happy.
They quit on week 3
He refuses to teach, not much else to say
Ok look I know that a lot of people hate them. I genuinely enjoyed their teaching and I feel like had the course structure been better organized it could have been a really great learning experience. Obviously a lot went wrong. I hope that in the future a (more organized) version of this class will be offered again.
There's no HW, no exams, no textbook, basically no organization. If you try to ask a GSI a question, they'll just reply with another question. You learn nothing in lecture, it's like a kindergarten class. Assignment's are very unclear. Taking this class with Wehreim is not worth the "easy A". Do not take.
I felt that the class structure helped me understand the content even though it was sometimes poorly organized. Would definitely be open to taking a similar course in the future.
They don't teach at all.
This is my first ever time writing any review on rate my professor. I never want to talk down on people, but this professor is making my life miserable by using their very unclear/undisciplined teaching mode. This professor shouldn't be teaching in a public school like Berkeley if a self-driven learning is what they expect.
Poor teaching and more politically than academically focused. The classroom should be for teaching not your politics.
Their class was comically mismanaged.
