Wouldn't take again

The format of the class was not favourable. Too much time of in-person class was spent on reviewing the quiz answers when they could have been on reviewing the chapter review answers. The online content was also overwhelming. Would only recommend this class if you are very organized with asynchronized classes

This was a mix of online and in-class, which took me about a month to get used to. The classes were not my cup of tea: group quizzes and then we'd go over the quiz as a whole. I would guess slightly more than half of these classes felt worth the time. Online material was a bit overwhelming for a 1st year course. Be ready to work.

I found the in-person portion of the class was not really necessary. All new material was online and In-person was just group quizzes and going over that quiz. Group quizzes aren't worth that much and she gives extra credit for other things that can offset the mark. The textbooks are hard to read and there is alot of reading. She is an easy grader.

Katrina has a wealth of experience and knowledge! She certainly knows how to teach this course in way that students can absorb. It could be a challenge to conduct the class online but she managed to put it together! The topics we discussed are sensitive but she would never dismiss anyone's opinion.

Katrina's lectures were lackluster and rarely exceeded more than 4 slides each class. Participation counted for ~10% because no one ever shows up. Exams based off textbook and lectures but just study the guiding questions. Exams have short answer questions that need up to 5 examples each. Does not post punctual lectures online. Not a fun class.

The tests and exams heavily rely on the textbook, group discussions are common in this class, and there is an in-class research essay. As long as you read the textbook and take notes, you should be fine as the exams are open-book, while the quizzes rely on memory. Katrina is also approachable as she is kind.

I would not recommend taking her class, her feedback on essays is odd and unexplainable and her lectures are very long and boring. Very hard to stay focused and super disengaging. Picks on random students to answer questions no one knows the answer to just to embarrass them. The most boring class i've ever experienced

Katrina is such a sweet and lovable teacher. She does tend to ramble a little bit and may only get through a few slides in the class, but she won't test you on what she doesn't teach. Refer to the textbook to do the guiding questions, as most of her tests and quizzes are based on it. She is a very kind marker. 2-5% deduction for late assignment.

Lectures were not essential for this class. The textbook and Unstuckstudy were more helpful for exam prep than the occasional in-person sessions. Professor is passionate but class can feel disorganized at times.
