She is really nice and sweet and down to earth but is a Horrible Teacher! Maybe it's just the horrible math program at Weber, but you learn nothing, and i'm pretty sure she surfs the net the whole class period. You leave more confused than you got there...... :/ but she's nice...:D Stay away from math at Weber!!
She was helpful if you asked questions, she would teach lessons when the curriculum doesn't require that the math professors actually teach. I felt like she was excited about math and she dumbed it down for those of us that have a hard time understanding, I'd highly recommend her!!
She was the BEST teacher/professor I had last year! I enjoyed her style of teaching and how she explained everything. She really has the hang of teaching math in an easy way to understand. This year I hated my professor! She challenged me and I know that most people in her class hated her. Whenever I walk past her room I still remember everything!
I liked Katrina, she was funny, and easy-going, easy to approach and she helped us out when we needed it, and let us go at our own pace the rest of the time. She even showed some shortcuts that were VERY helpful, and not in the book!
Useless. Not very helpful.
She was beyond helpful, really funny and easy to get along with. Class is mandatory just to get the points you need. I finished the course in 5 weeks! So all in all very amazing professor!
I would recommend her over any math teacher at WSU, Professor Marriot goes above and beyond to help her students. As well as is a great math teacher. Hand over fist I would chose her over any other math teacher.
She is so kind, and fun to work with. She is willing to help each one of us. She helps us through Weber's crappy computer system.
I learned more from the people in the hub than from the teacher. The Teacher only taught a handful of times. It was the lecture/online class so she wasn't as involved.
She was an amazing professor for math and without her I would not have passed. Wsu math system leaves a lot to be desired. I disagree with her negative replies if she wasn't helping you its because you were not helping yourself. She will put just as much effort into you as you are willing to put into math. By far the most understanding math profess
Easy to understand. Willing to help you in any way she can. Great teacher!
Awesome professor! She actually makes class time valuable and gives the tools you need to pass the class.
Not very helpful. She just sits there in class on the internet while the class does homework.
Katrina is one of the best professors I have ever had! She really helps one on one and is very understanding. If you struggle at math like I do, this is the teacher you need! Altough Weber States math is very difficult, she is the only professor I have had success with in Math.
Amazing teacher! She truly cares about each student and wants you to succeed. Extremely helpful and will meet with you out of class if you need extra help. She helps in understanding concepts clearly and to enjoy math once again. I would take from her every time if I could.
This is a horrible math program and a horrible professor. I would not take math with this professor ever if you can take anyone else I suggest you do so.
Attendance is not mandatory per se but if you don't come to class or attend the HUB you wont stay on track. Textbook is a free e-text & easily accessible. Mrs. Marriott is willing to help you but you have to be willing to put in the time and effort as well. She will meet with you outside of class, but you have to ask for a time to meet.
Math is still hard but without Prof Marriot I would have never survived. She is really good about replying to emails quickly. The program is on the computer and takes a little time to get to but overall not too bad. You can take your quizzes & tests a multiple times so if you don't pass you have more attempts or can try for a better grade.
Mrs. Marriott was very helpful and patient. She took the time to explain concepts if I didn't understand them. I also felt she really cared about my success in the course and tried to help me succeed in any aspect she could. She is also gery approachable and understanding.
Professor Marriot is always very willing to help out even outside of class. She emails you back with any questions the same day you send them to her. As for the class it was fairly easy for me. There is a lot of homework but you can re-take every test and quiz as many times as you needwant (including the final)to get the grade you desire.
THE BEST math professor I have at WSU. She is clear in her lectures and really cares about students succeeding. Math is way hard for me and I have taken 1010 twice before I took it with Pro Marriott and I honestly cannot say enough about how great she is. I wouldn't have been able to pass this class without her help! THANK YOU!!!
Mrs. Marriott gave the best instruction for a math class that I've had at Weber. First part of class is a lecture so we properly understood the material. Then we were given time to start on/finish homework. She is always willing to help you if you need it and responds quickly to emails.
Katrina is absolutely phenomenal!! She made sure to teach each concept in multiple ways to make sure all learning styles were addressed and she is very supportive of the students and always was willing to go the extra mile if it would help the students be successful. She is without a doubt the best math teacher I've ever had.
Katrina is the best math teacher at Weber State. I appreciated Katrina's teaching methods. She didn't assume that we already knew what we were doing and just went through it fast. She truly cares about her students and really wants you to do well. The study guides she provides are amazing too.
Let me start off by saying that I hate math. I enjoyed Katrina's class, she helped me get the confidence I needed to succeed in math. She is one of the best teachers I have taken math from. Very helpful study guides.
Amazing teacher all around. I wish I could keep her for my future classes. She knows every which way to teach a problem to you and explains everything. She understands that many of us are working students and is very wiling to help you out if you need it. Just make you sure communicate with her. She's one teacher that actually cares.
Took this class with Prof Marriott expecting to be like every other math class I have tried to take and hated. I was wrong, it was a fantastic learning environment. She is a really good instructor who strives to help each of her students.
Katrina is overall a good professor. She expects a lot from her students, but really helps them to succeed. I like how her tests are set up, and how the online part is used. Her focus problems are an insane amount of work for the points, so beware. The attendance policy is a bit over the top for a college class, but she just wants the best for you.
Katrina was awesome! I wish I could take her for 1030. You do have to work for your grade. She is awesome and helpful, but only if you reach out to her. Sometimes moves at a fast pace, but she is always willing to go back. She also will teach in different ways until you understand it. She isn't very lenient with grading though.
Katrina is AWESOME! I have never felt comfortable taking math, until I took her class. We sit in groups which is actually very useful. There is a ton of homework, however, it turns out to be helpful. I would definitely recommend Katrina.
I felt that Katrina took the time to understand the needs of each student and cater those needs to help the class as a whole. She was the best & most helpful math instructor I've ever had. Her techniques & real-life examples make the class so much easier to understand. I would love to have Katrina teach me math for the rest of my academic career.
The standard is 2 hours spent for every 1 hour in class. Not so here. More like 4-6 for every hour in class dependent on material. Teacher is super knowledgeable but that doesn't necessarily transfer to her students. Nice person, but good luck in class!
A nice woman, but difficult teacher. The amount of homework is ridiculous. There are two books and one online book (parsons) for homework that is due every class. You have to easily dedicate 2 to 3 hours a day on homework. The class moves so quickly, that if you are lost, good luck catching up. Save yourself the time and take another class.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!, she is somewhat of a nice woman but she is one of the most difficult and extra teachers in my opinion. She grades REALLY tough and gives a lot of homework as if math is the only class your taking, and she also picks the hardest questions for quizzes and test, please save yourself from taking her class.
Katrina is a great teacher & would recommend her to other students. I learn math a little differently than most & she was willing to help me in and outside of class. There's a lot of homework but is doable if you follow/stick to the calendar. Sometimes felt like we covered the material quickly but she was always willing to stop & and answer them
Great professor!! She made sure we knew the concept well before continuing, and made sure that we all had our questions answered in a way we understood. She even showed us some tricks that made it easier. If you struggle with math, Katrina is the teacher for you.
This is a tough class, but Katrina is a fantastic teacher. She wants you to succeed and is always around to answer questions if you need help. In my class she had two paper books and one online for homework but that might be changing. The class moves quick because there is a lot of material to cover, but I would recommend this class to avoid 1010
For a class I only needed to take in order to get into the college level classes, this class was extremely hard. So much homework! Most of the home work was online, and it was very difficult to get the correct answer. Tests were so hard and confusing Professor Marriott is a great Professor but this was a very hard class.
Professor Marriott knows what she is teaching and how to teach it for those who struggle understanding the subject or have a lot of questions such as myself. She is willing to tutor you one-on-one if you ask, or offers other forms of aid. The amount of online homework and supplemental homework pages can be overwhelming but she works with you.
Katrina is amazing! I am really bad at math and usually have a hard time understanding it, but she is ready to help anyone who needs it and explains things super well. After tests if you qualify ( have good attendance % and homework done) then you can do test corrections to better your score. Hand down a great teacher.
I had a lot happen in my personal life during my semester with Katrina, but because of her patience and help I made it out of this class alive. I needed this class to continue on for my QL. Yes, the material is hard but if you work for it and show up you will be fine. Katrina doesn't go easy, she's trying to prepare you for your future classes.
This professor is AMAZING!!! She really focuses on helping students understand the material. She's kind and willing to give each student the individualized support they need to be successful. The only thing I wish was changed were due dates... have them due at the end of the week instead of 48 hours after class.
This class was for sure my favorite math class I've ever taken. It's a 5 hour class so it definitely takes time and we covered a lot of material. But overall it gave me a better understanding of math especially because Katrina is an amazing professor. She's very friendly and knows exactly what she's doing!
Katrina's support during some rough patches this semester is what has gotten me through. She was so patient and understanding and I'm grateful for her teaching methods and guidance. She was willing to meet with me outside of class when it worked out best for MY schedule. The groups would great but if we ever got stuck Katrina was willing to help.
Katrina is a good teacher but not the best. If you have a question she doesn't really answer it, mostly so you can figure it out on your own (which works for some people but definitely not me). The online homework didn't match what we learned in class (she made the textbook and uses other textbooks for the online homework).
Katrina is a great teacher. Class was at a good pace, and she seems to have a good system for what will really help the material stick. You can also tells she really cares about her students and offers lots of help outside of class. Also, her class just requires a workbook that cost $12 at campus printer, so that's awesome!
I took the entire class through ZOOM and Katrina made it very student friendly. The book was cheap and we used every single page! I was scared to take math but I did not struggle at all in her class. Loved her!
Katrina was one of my favorite professors by far! This was a new math class altogether and was the best math class I have ever taken. Katrina made math make sense, and taught our class the things you will need in real world scenarios. She was very nice, helped you with any questions, and no question was stupid to her. Pretty sure final grade is B+
Professor Marriott is amazing. She is always there to help if you have questions, and she makes learning math interesting and doable. As someone who struggles with math, I can say that I have more confidence in myself after this class and because of professor Marriott. I cannot recommend this class enough.
I loved her class she is a tough grader for sure so beware of that also attendance and participation is heavily graded so make sure you are there and discussing with the class.
This class had two teachers: Katrina and Jarrod. Katrina was by far the better teacher and you won't regret taking her class. She is 100% invested in her students: came to class early, stayed late, never belittled us, long office hours. Some complain about the amount of HW...but it's a 6 credit class! You're going to have a lot of homework!!
I took Math 0970 over zoom. Katrina was very helpful during class and was willing to put in extra time if we needed more help. She's professional but very personable. Breakout rooms weren't the greatest but she had no control over students not participating. Now I feel like I can finally be successful in math and would take a class from her again!
This course has been an absolute blessing! I honestly did not think me ever conquering math in college was possible... but I did it and I wouldn't have been able to do it without Katrina. She help us relate math to my everyday life. She's VERY available if you need extra help. She made all the difference in helping me pass this class.
Katrina is awesome!! She's super nice and always willing to help you out. The only thing I didn't like about this class was the amount of homework. But she warned us with 6 credits we're doing the homework of two classes.....she was right. Katrina's great and I would take her again if I ever have to take another math class!
Prof Marriott gave excellent, detailed feedback that helped me understand mistakes I was making. She was easy to talk to and encouraged questions every class. I never felt like any question was "too dumb" or unworthy of her time. Because of the extra time she was willing to give me outside of class, I passed! She's the best teacher you can ask for.
Katrina is an amazing teacher. If you dont understand a concept she will show you a different way. She is clear in what she wants she wants in work shown. Homework isnt terrible it is twice a week plus some one to two reading quizzes to get introduced to the next topic. She is very caring and funny. Her class is not computer based. Rent textbook.
Professor Marriott was so kind and she uses derivita which is THE best!! She really wants you to learn and not just memorize. She is also really patient and understanding of people's schedules outside of class
Math's is really hard subject for me , It was so easy to understand in her class . 4 exams , choose your group wisely . I couldn't draw attention on class some days because I was feeling left-out by group . DO NOT SKIP CLASS . good group = catchup the class , if not sorryyyy! . Jarrod is always there if you get stuck during classroom.
She is very nice and helpful in class but cannot write a test or quiz without typos to save her life. In every test there were typos in the numbers that made it impossible for the student to get the correct answer. You had to sit there and wonder why your answer made zero sense and it was completely the fault of the person who wrote the question
Easily the best math professor I have ever had. She cares so much about students and makes learning fun. She teaches in a way that is easy to understand, and I don't feel stupid or uncomfortable to ask for help when I don't understand.
Katrina is the best math teacher I have had, she truly cares that you understand the material. She really works really hard to create an environment were you feel comfortable asking questions. Exam review activities were so much fun and we even got a little extra credit. I would take all my math classes from her if I could!
Math has always been exceptionally hard for me. But I've never had a teacher care as much about me as Katrina has. She challenged me to keep working and made me feel proud when I was able to figure it out. Because of her, I'm finishing my math requirement and will now graduate!! If you want a caring teacher - take Katrina's class!!
Katrina was absolutely amazing! She would make sure I understand the material or help whenever I was stuck on. She also asked us about life and such and really connected us. We got to have fun in math class and talk not just math talk 24/7 which helped me enjoy class much more & feel more appreciated.
Katrina is the best! She is a busy woman, but always made time for students. I never felt like I was a bother or an inconvenience. She also is wonderful at teaching math. If I ever have to take more math classes, I would take them all from Katrina.
Katrina is amazing. She takes the time for you to really understand the material and doesn't make you feel bad for asking questions. She makes teaches in a way that makes sense to everyone and willing to say it in a way that makes everyone understand. Attendance helps.
Katrina is absolutely amazing! She was understanding and explained things to where I could understand the material. She made me feel comfortable asking questions and I never felt judged. She was also great in help us know which class we should take next. Overall a great experience. Would definitely take another class with Katrina.
I can't thank Katrina enough for dedicating so much time to me and having patience with the things that I did not understand. Because of everything I have learned being in her class I know I will be able to pass my next class. Thank you for being a great teacher. God Bless you
I loved this professor! This is the only math class I got over a 90% in. She makes things pretty easy to understand and the homework was very helpful. Do the homework and fill out the textbook for each unit and you'll be fine!
Katrina is probably my favorite professor ever at Weber State. She is very caring and is determined to help all students to succeed. I am horrible, horrible at math but was able to pass this class because of how great of a teacher she is.
Easily the best math professor I have ever had. She cares so much about students and actually makes learning math fun. She teaches in a way that is easy to understand, and I never felt stupid or uncomfortable to ask for help when I didn't understand something. Would take all my classes from her if that were possible!
Katrina is AMAZING. Her class made perfect sense to me. Tests were semi-difficult but had a study guide. Lectures were helpful. Quick to email back and great office hours. Super friendly. Workbook was VERY helpful to have. Wished she was teaching Math 1030 because I would definitely take it from her!
My math skills have never been great and I was nervous to take this class. But after a couple of weeks I realized Katrina teaches math in a way that makes it really easy to understand and it wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. Only thing I would have done differently is not be scared to ask for help when stuck on something.
I was dreading taking a college math class...especially a 6 credit math class. I was positive that I was going to barely pass with a C but I'm actually going to end up with an A-. I can't believe it! Katrina made this class be fun, made it so asking questions was normal and even encouraged, and helped me realize that math is EVERYWHERE.
I was overwhelmed with the idea of taking a 6 credit math class but this class is the best class I have ever taken. I actually found myself enjoying math (weird!). I can honestly say Katrina has an amazing ability to teach in a way that students can learn from. And she believes in you so much that you can't help but do well.
I can't believe I'm going to say this but I LOVED this class and it went way better than I ever expected it to go. Katrina helped me realize that math is everywhere in the real world and understanding the basics will help us make better decisions in life. If I ever have to take another math class, I will definitely take it from Katrina.
Math has always been my least favorite and weakest subject. And I was convinced I would fail the class and have not time for my other classes. But I was 100% wrong! Katrina helped me build my confidence and I realized that math isn't as hard as I use to believe it was. Best thing is that Katrina connected the math to real world scenarios.
When I signed up for this class, I was worried it was going to be a lot to handle & would move to fast. But it moved at a good pace and was the a perfect amount to handle. There was no “unnecessary” work. I felt everything given benefited my learning. I loved how Katrina taught the material, and I always felt like I could ask a question if needed.
Loved having Katrina as my teacher. She's amazing to work with. I would take all of my math classes with her. She is great with helping if you need help. She really cares. She teaches in a way that is easy to understand. She doesn't care how you do a problem as long as you get it right. She is the best professor I have ever had!
This was the first math class I was excited to attend. The learning environment was exactly what should be expected in every class. There was a lot of engagement, and the professor provided the absolute best structure for everyone.
I have never taken a math class that was this amaing. Katrina is without doubt one of the top professors I've ever had here at Weber. Rarely do professors focus more on teaching rather than lecturing. Her teaching skills and abilities are incredible. Everything was helpful and I didn't once feel something was unnecessary
Katrina has to be the best Math professor Weber State has to offer. She is kind, helpful, patient, and great at teaching. Although I was often very busy this past summer, I always knew exactly what I needed to do to succeed. Katrina's class is probably the most well structured classes at Weber State. I would change nothing.
Genuinely the greatest math teacher I've ever had! I'm pretty good at math so this course was very easy, but I would say that even if I wasn't, I still would've gotten a good grade. She is so caring and genuinely wants students to succeed! Can't say enough great things about her! Highly recommend her!
Math has always been a difficult subject for me, but Katrina simply amazing! She makes sure every one of her students is engaged in class and understands the material well. The handouts every class are also helpful for students to practice their knowledge. The exams are not very hard and are exactly what we talk about in class.
Katrina is honestly the best math teacher I've ever had. She made the classroom feel like a safe place were mistakes were welcomed and even encouraged. Our "textbook" was a set of guided notes and very beneficial and helpful. If I could take the rest of my math classes with Katrina I would!
