She's very relaxed and enthusiastic. Lots of interesting stories, some videos. Clear study guides. Stay to end of class before a test and you might get hints about essay portion. Very good teacher; have recommended to friends.
Katrina Worley is one of the best teachers I have had the pleasure of learning from during my college career. She is enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about the subject, encourages discussion and questions, and just has a good time with it. She enjoys the subject and definitely projects that during class. You will enjoy her classes.
Did like her on a personal level, way too liberal and talks about herself ALOT. Class was easy, didn't read a line in the text and got a C. Lectures & study guides can be found at her website. She's very computer literate and replies promptly to e-messages.
I had Katrina for anthro lab at sierra. She was VERY insightful, and proved to be a very effecient teacher. I learned SO much about comparative anatomy between primates and sapiens. You have to apply yourself, but it is a good prep class for bio courses you will be taking later on. I got an A, and I owe to her inspiration.
Very nice, intelligent hippie femmenist women. Lectures can be a little complex and hard to follow, but she over all keeps it interesting.
Great preofessor! She's interesting but her tests aren't too hard. If you're not very studious but show up and liten, you'll do well.
One of the best instructors i've ever had. she makes herself avalaible to the students and she's very accamodating. One of the most enthusiastic intructors (concerning the subject matter) i've experienced.
magic witch craft and religion is the name of the class but it's mostly about religion. She shows some really religious stuff so if you want magic and witchccraft she only gives you a couple dayz worth of it.
took this class for GE, the semester started out good, but the the tests became trivial, many questions were not on the notes or review sheet.. making the class frustrating. also some contrasts to "personal openion" told in class and tests questions. over all it was easy, but you might as well just read the book
Katrina is awesome! She has a wide range of education in cultural and physical anthro. I thought she was thorough and answered all my questions patiently. She has some great stories and a relaxed, fun personality. I would take her class again. Oh, and how does the previous student posting know if she brushes her tongue or not???
GREAT CLASS! GREAT TEACHER!
Very engaging lectures. She tells a lot of stories during the class, but all of them are interesting and usually pertain to the day's subject material. I always leave class in a good mood!
Great teacher, took her online class. She is willing to answer any questions you have it's up to you to ask. She does not force her opinions and beliefs upon you, instead she likes to hear what you think. She will correct any misconceptions you have. I really enjoyed taking her class online an easy A. just participate and turn in your papers!
She makes the best use of online resoruces of any class I have taken. She is also very present for the class and helful - questions are answered very quickly. Interesting class, great teacher!
I think Katrina is probably the best teacher I've ever had. She makes sure you have all the resources to pass her class.
this is a great class to take if your not sure about anthropology. Katrina is a lot of fun and if you pay attention and take notes the class is esay to pass
NICE REALLY HELPFUL AND KNOWS HER STUFF! TAKE HER CLASS!!! SHE MAKES LABS FUN AND SHE IS REALLY EASY GOING...
I took this class online and I did not enjoy it like others stated before me. She was arrogent and demanding. I should have just read the book. A lot of her tests were opinion based and not in the notes, outlines, or book. I would not recommend her to anyone. I went into it with some interest but came out frustrated and disappointed.
I took this class online. It was my first online class and it was a lot of work! She will answer any questions fast. All the quizes are straight from the book, but don't get me wrong..some are tough! You really do need to read all of it to get 10 out of 10 points. Too many assiments also.
Good class. Took online. Easy to follow and keep up. You will have to read the text to do well on quizzes. Overall, class was a lot more interesting than I expected. Hardest part for me was discussion board. I hate discussion boards. Gives some extra credit opportunities though, so I made it out with an A.
A great teacher...she loves what she does and explains very well and clear what she is talking about. The tests are not easy or hard at all i think if you just study the study guide she gives you then you will pass! AND do good on the paper she will be giving you which is not hard at all.

very helpful, 1/2 the course was online and lab was in her class .. known as "Hybrid" classes.. they are alot easier if you have a difficult schedule.. she was very helpful and always up to date with emails i sent..thumbs up!
Easily one of my favourite instructors at ARC. The material isn't difficult, and she's very clear. Very helpful and nice, too! She makes anthropology classes extremely interesting, and is very knowledgable. A++!
The class wasnt hard at all, but you have to read a lot, practically eat all her textbook. Dont miss any test, assignment and quizes if you want to get good score, if not forget it,she doesnt give you any chance to take a missed quiz, you lose. Her policy is the only thing she cares about and to agree on whatever she says.
I'd take Katrina again. I took the online class and thought she was a good instructor. You'll do a lot of reading for filler class, but she is very fair, and if you work hard you'll get an A.
Learned a lot in her class. tests were kinda hard. U had 2 know bones by sight. she required a 5 page term paper. U really need 2 go 2 class 2 do well on tests unless u like 2 read the book. some test ?'s u will only know if u read and she doesn't give u clues. U can't skate by in this class.
Most boring class i have ever taken!!!!!!!! she bored me to sleep everyday. She was not very helpful either. Did not enjoy at all!!!!!!!
Proff. Worley makes this class more complicated with her teaching approuch, not helpful, expects too much of you, exams are halh term half essay question, you really need to know material, if you dont yoyu will fail cuz its 50% of the exam, can't bs your way through it...not the best professor if you're not anth major
Worley is an amzaing professor! She loves what she does and is willing to help anyone who is in need of aid. If you are not willing to work then you will fail. You cannot BS through this class. Very fun and knowledgable. I would recommend this professor for the person who wants to learn and is serioius about their college career.

Lively and interesting. Her class isn't too hard, but you have to do the in class work. She lectures for about 30 min then lets you play with bones for the rest of class. Highly recommended.
I took this class online. The material was very clear. It was hard to tell if Worley was a human or a machine. If you do the work and have no personal issues everything is fine. She accepts no excuses and no explanations. I am glad I took an English class before hand. Must use MLA, be very precise, readable, and long; or you lose points.
Well I think Worley is a great teacher and always willing to help. Her tests are easy to pass as long as you follow her study guides. But do well on the term paper because if you copy a single paragraph from your sources, she's gonna give you a zero and say that you plagiarized! But overall she's cool.
Professor Worley is AMAZING! she knows everything about the physical anthropology, not just the textbook stuff. she is passionate and loves what she does. At first she seems hard but the tests are good if you study and come to class. i would love to take another class from her.
Prof Worley is an awesome professor! She knows her stuff and helps you to love what she loves! Even if science/anthopology isn't your thing, she makes it interesting and exciting. I also recommend taking the lab. Its easy and fun. Super easy "A" for a CSU/UC requirment transfer.
I actually took her lecture and lab sections at the same time and it was really fun. In the lab class we used candy to breed cats. It really helped explain the genetics part. She really gets into her subject and thats what makes her a great teacher.
professor worley's extremely intellectual and knows a lot about the anthropology field which keeps class interesting. i took her anth lab, which seemed hard at first but turned out to be easy to understand and fun. able to be very clear with her instructions but may sometimes be too harsh if you dont get it. her jokes can also be offensive at times
Totally awesome, amazing teacher. Notes are clear, study guides are clear, expectations are clear. Some things that appeared on test weren't on study guide, but maybe only 1 or 2 questions. 5-7pg term paper sucks, but is easy and she is very helpful on it. Responds to emails very quickly, does test rewrites, and gives extra credit. Must take!!
Took her for an anthro lab. She is really cool, very helpful with a rockin' sence of humor. I learned a ton and I find the subject interesting, however, she needs to realize it's a one unit class. I worked as hard in this class as I do a 3 unit class. If anthro's not your thing, this will bug the heck out of ya.
Her enthusiasm and passion has made the class so much more interesting than I had expected. She always has fun stories or relevant articles to help reinforce the material. Pros: thorough, very helpful in office hrs, sign in attendance. Cons: doesn't really review for test, 7-8 pg research paper (not hard but nothing you can bs, but this is college!
I've taken 5 class from her, and she is amazing!! Funny, loves the subjects she teaches, VERY knowledgeable. Notes are posted online, tests are less than 50 questions and a couple essay questions. You can not read the books and still pass with good grades. If you're interested in Anthro., make sure you take Prof. Worley at least once!
She was totally nice, and she went over everything in class. power points are easy to follow and test are nice and easy. I took her for only 8 weeks, there was no papers, just 3 nice easy test. but do study your vocab!
THE WORST TEACHER EVER!!! DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE CLASS. You have to work you butt off in this class and if you have any problems or questions she is not friendly and gives short one word answers. She also takes huge chunks of points off of huge assignments that take forever just because you capitalized the wrong word.... She is crazy do not take!
Katrina is an awesome professor. She really explains things clearly and will take time to answer any questions and make sure everyone understands. Her tests are mostly from the lecture notes, which she posts online. But attendance is definitely a must if you want a good grade. Recommend!
Best Prof. ever! I'm currently in my 6th class with Katrina, and I'm loving every second of it. Tests aren't hard, 50 questions and an essay. If she does written tests, then its about 10 questions and 2 essays. Reading the text books aren't required to pass with an A, but it is recommended at times. If you want to take Anthro at all, take her!!!!!
Easy A. She is nice for the most part. Tests are simple and straightforward. Tests do require a minimal amount of studying.
Super Smart, one of the greatest teachers I ever had. Read, study, attend class, get an A. Lectures aren't boring. Great class.
No homework. Attend every lecture, take notes, and you'll pass every exam. All it takes is a little attention. Worley is knowledgeable, speaks clearly, and answers all questions. Fabulous teacher. You don't need the textbook.
My fav. prof. Very helpful, very knowledgeable, and very clear on what she wants and how to succeed in her class (take notes, test, and project/paper. Just like any other college course). No HW, three-four tests, project and/or paper at the end of the term that she gives you all semester to work on. I suggest her to ANYONE!!
She is an amazing professor. Her class is extremely fun and interesting, she's very intelligent. Make sure you print out the slide notes, you'll do better on the exams which are easy as long as you read the chapters and follow her notes. I definitely recommend taking her for any Anthropology class, she's amazing.
She is good at her subject, and very helpful if you have any questions. Her tests are alright, if you do the study guide, and go over your notes you should be good. She is using PowerPoint slides, and most of the time in class she will spend lecturing. Allows a page of notes on the test, so if you aim for an A or B take her.
I took Professor Worley's Online 300 Anth class. I was not excited about this class prior to taking it but I learned A LOT more than I thought I would and it was actually all interesting! I honestly didn't put as much effort in the class as I should have and still got an A. As long as you do the work you'll do good in the class. I would recommend.
She is a great teacher, loves what she does and really engages the students.
She's very helpful. She made me look forward to coming to class every morning.
One of the most interesting classes I have ever taken! DO NOT Take this class as a 8 week like I did, as you WILL feel cheated! As an 8 week, be prepared! Puts the notes online, goes over much more in class. Tests are slightly difficult, essay work is easy. Would take again, I learned a lot that can be used in the real world! Excellent teacher!
Professor Worley is VERY knowledgeable&makes the class really interesting! You do need to read the book for test purposes. All tests were online and she offers rewrites to boost your grade. Very fair in grading but you MUST do your work and most assignments can't be done last minute. I definitely recommend taking Mrs Worley!
Online class- She is very rude. Her grading technique is absolutely picky.
She is a helpful instructor, however, absolutely rude and absolutely picky in giving points. Extremely strict at grading. I'm not sure how she is in her 1-1 class, but the online class is quite daunting. Would not recommend to take her online Anthro 300.
Worley is rude and standoffish when it comes to feedback, help or questions.Taking online class (BIG MISTAKE), she demands lots of work,Very picky on essays, bibs and term paper. This class would be fine if it was the ONLY class you take otherwise she expects too much and will not hesitate to correct you on how to do it HER way.Regret this class!
Avoid this instructor like the plague, the online course requires massive amounts of work, and OMG is she picky, its anth300 I’m not writing a thesis for my Doctorate but I guarantee if I was it wouldn’t be good enough for her.
ditto with all of the other reviews, she was rude, unhelpful, had confusing (to be nice) questions on her test which also had questions we never covered or were in the book, WAY to much homework and her critiques were overboard, especially when she made the exact same mistakes not to mention her constant disregard for the books information.
This is a challenging course. All tests are on-line and difficult. Professor Worley is extremely knowledgeable on the material. She offers a substantial amount of extra credit, about a grade point worth.
I am not saying she's easy or hard. The work is posted online with ample time to complete it. is it easy?, That depends on you, it comes straight out of the text. If you do the reading and the work you will get a decent grade. If you try to B.S. your way through it you will fail its that simple. She seems very fair. tells you the rules up front.
Five postings weekly, two short papers, and one major term paper, one extra credit (short) paper, and five tests. Not to much work compared to other classes but definitely take time to read. Check out the publishers website & take the practice quizzes! I would recommend; I missed one test and still earned a B.
Extremely odd grader. Rude and arrogant. A lot of hmwrk but you'll get used to it. She likes to attack students as well. The other comments seem to be candy coating things because it can be easy if you have no other class but she makes it deifficult since you have to please her and her opinions. If not you can kiss your grade goodbye.
The course itself is actually interesting. Not an insane amount of homework for the online course. However, she is extremely rude and borderline unprofessional. As interested as I was in the material, her attitude made me not want to actually do the work. I can take constructive criticism, but she is just rude. I'd recommend another professor.
At her best; helpful, knowledgeable and quick to respond. At her worst; terrible online manner. Extremely discourteous. Rude. Arrogant. Disregards any and every debate. Expects actual study/research for the final paper and refuses to see how this is a community college, basic anth course where majority of students lack any scientific background.
Very rude, discourteous, impolite, and arrogant. The way she runs the discussion board is inefficient and a waste of time. You have to do 3 bibliographies with 5 articles each, 4 exams. 5 discussion board post a week and she wants them done at different times. Don't let her turn you off from anthropology. Only thing good is that she replies fast.
RUDEEEE!!! Dont ask her for help. Everything she does is confusing and unorganized. Each slide in her power point looks like an essay. Way to much homework. The entire semster is her blabbering.
This professor is utterly rude. She doesn't care about her students well being. Her online class requires 3x as much time as a regular face to face class requires. Her grading makes 0 sense. I highly urge everyone to steer away from this professor. She is not a people person. Find the answer to your questions on your own don't ask for help.
This class isn't too bad. Each test was online and she put her powerpoint slides up online as well so if you organized the powerpoint notes with the study guide she gives you well, you should do alright. You also had to do either a project or an essay at the end of the class which the essay was a little annoying from the lack of info on the topic.
She is literally the worst teacher I've ever had in my life, by far. She is extremely rude to her students and her expectations are way too high for an intro class. It seems as though you should have previous knowledge to pass this class. I had to drop this class, because it felt like more work than all of my other classes combined. Don't do it!
All of her lecture notes are online so it's easier to print them out and bring them to class so that you are able to keep up. She tries to teach 3 chapters in 1 12 weeks and except you to retain everything while extra reading and writing an essay. The term paper was terrible since she doesn't give you that much background information.
This was not a class for me. The main thing that bothered me about this class was we were so far behind on lectures that the exams kept getting moved back. Within the third week of school we were already behind by two weeks. Also, everything she lectures about it usually in the book. The lecturing to me was a little dull and not exciting at all.
Best teacher ever!
Katrina is obviously very passionate about what she teaches! I really enjoyed what I learned from taking her class! She is very nice and always open for questions! The only thing I would suggest is for her is to incorporate some sort of textbook learning material and to create exams from such, so that we have good, solidtrue answers for her exams.
WAY too much work for an INTRO class. It is online so she crams way more work than there would be for a regular class. Covers the entire textbook. 5 discussion board postings weekly half of those have to be made 24 hrs apart, bibliography assignments, essays, tests, term paper, and then the final. Lectures are lengthy and overly wordy.
Anth for native people of n. america. every class is a lecture from slides that is 100% on D2l. Not necessary to print. She posts study guides. Print those and ONLY take notes on the things on the study guide. She tests from that. Everything is online. No HW. one research project. Start Early! She has a lot of fun stories though kinda boring lecs
Took course because of an interest in Anthropology but realized it was not structured very well by Professor Worley. The grading process is somewhat detrimental to the average student and very unbalanced .The essays are not clearly defined for a quality response. This course can be enlightening but the study is not guided by a textbook process
She explains everything very well. She's really a great teacher and if you do your dodilignece you'll pass this class. It's not easy but is a good class.
All you have to do is: read the book, participate in class, and do the work. In addition, Worley offers extra credit.
Professor Worley is a very detailed instructor. Very, very detailed. She does not accept work that is below college standards, at all. Her picky grading style can be a little demanding, but I feel that her high expectations prompt her students to perform better. Her classes are challenging, but you'll learn something.
Be ready to READ and do LOTS of papers. Participation is a MUST! Learned a lot but this professor is not for the sensitive ones for she can be pretty rude, whether that is her intention or not, she comes off as rude. In addition, be prepared to type essays that are completely error free.
She is very passionate about what she teaches and is open to all questions. Be careful if you get offended easily, she doesn't necessarily hide her beliefs. Grade is compromised of a few essays and online exams plus she offers extra credit. Everything you need is in her power points which are all on d2l. Pretty easy to pass.
If you hate talking to students you shouldn't be a professor. She's downright unprofessional and rude. There is so much work, 3 bibliographies (5 each), 3 eassays, 5 tests, 5 discussion board posts/week. She wrote the rudest comments about my work but still have me an A or B on assignments, I'd hate to see what she said to those who didn't do well.
I do not recommend this professor for any SECOND language. You will NEVER get full points because of grammatical issue. She will grade you base on your grammar. She is more worst and strict than an English professor. She will mark you if you forgot to put a common. I'm not sure what her point of teaching anth, if grammar is such an issue for her.
Do not take an online class with this prof! Way too much work for an intro class. 5 discussion posts/week at least 24 hours apart, 3 essays that are not prompted well but you must answer very thoroughly for a good grade, and 3 bibliographies with 5 articles each. The entire textbook is covered. I don't mind blunt but this prof. does not identify.
I learned a lot inside her class & the lectures were really good. but she crams in so many lectures/talks so much sometimes she rushes through the lecture not able to write everything down but has them online. she does bibliobiographies and essays- that if you don't do well with grammar she grades hard on you. She good but kinda of know It all
An easy class for anyone. Lectures can get side-tracked but remain within the topic. She follows the syllabus, is an easy grader, and quick to respond to emails. Everything is to be turned in online. There are three exams (no cumulative final), three short writing assignments, and one term paper/project. Be sure to do the extra credit as well.
Great teacher, just take clear notes and you'll be fine. Quizzes are all online and open note and book. Her classes are easy to understand if you show up and pay attention. For physical anthropology, you should read the book. But her lectures go over everything you will need to know for the quizzes.
In native americans of CA her class isn't really require a lot of reading. Her lecture go over all the information needed for the quizzes. That being said, just show up for class, pay attention, and take notes. She is super passionate about anthropology and is always willing to take time to talk to students. Experimental projects are LOTS OF FUN!
Professor Worley is very understanding and patient. She gives you everything you need to succeed. You really dont need the textbook because she goes over every chapter. She enjoys Anthropology and is very excited about the subject. And she has a great sense of humor!
She's amazing! So sweet and she makes you want to come to class. She gives great lectures that are very interesting. Beware, she goes through the slides very fast but the slides are on the canvas website. I love her class!
Teacher grades tough. Tests are worded so you pick wrong answer, and are obscurely referenced in the book. She is also very condescending to students, using all caps with some words. When ever she is trying to hint at an error, or is annoyed, she types, "...", instead of saying what she wants to say. Any letter misplaced sets her off
I took Anth 310 online. Your grade is calculated primarily from tests all 50 pts so do well. Text book is online, lots of reading, every week is discussion at least 5-6 posts worth a total 5pts, no quizes or hw just reading. You do a 4-5 pg essay called a film analysis worth 50pts*. She offered extra credit twice called an ethnographic assignments
Really great professor you can tell she loves the subject and theres nothing better then being taught by something who enjoys the subject, she really nice and understanding her lectures have it all if you go to class and pay attention to the lecture and do a little reading at home for the study guide she gives youll pass!
Don't take this professor. She gives too much homework for an online 3-unit class. She is disrespectful to students when you email her about a question and makes you figure things out on your own. 5 tests, 3 papers, 5 Annotated Bibliographies with weekly discussions that have to be 48 hours apart. She does offer the 3rd essay for extra credit.
Class is super easy, a total of 6 discussion posts a week. Do them or your grade will drop. The book is free online, and honestly, you don't even need it. I was able to get by the semester answering the questions just based on common sense/opinions. 4 exams in total, super easy. Assignments were a bit lengthy but easy & fun too. Get stuck? Quizlet!
I took this course online! There are weekly discussions which are easy. Four tests I believe which are all easy. 2 or 3 shorter essays which are easy as well.
I had Professor Worley for my Anthr 300. She is really caring, has an open-door policy and can reach out to her about any concern or questions. Just do your discussion and exams are fair. Extra credits is offered for exams. I really enjoyed this semester because of her.
Professor Worley's class is quite simple. Each week you must do 5-6 responses on a discussion, including responses to others. There is a total of 3 exercises (essays), there is a fourth one for extra credit. A larger type of essay towards the end that requires watching a film. You will have to read, a lot. A good class, just put in the work for it.
Professor Worley is a lovely, caring, thorough professor. The Canvas page for this course was incredibly organized. Weekly discussion thread, optional quizzes, a few exams, and one term paper. Easy A. Lectures are helpful, but all you really need is the textbook. I highly recommend this class & professor.
Professor Worley is wonderful. She gives us the online textbooks. Make sure you do the discussion post I ended this semester with a B, but if I would have did all the discussion post it would have been an A. She offers extra credit and chances to rewrite questions you missed on an exam .
Professor Worley is a very wise prof. Her class was interesting and enjoyable. You are required to read your textbook and participate in weekly assignments + discussions and/or projects. If you put in the work and effort, you will pass.
This is my second time with Professor Worley and I will say that it was better. I enjoy her class layout, very straightforward with weekly discussions, some tests, and some essays. The hardest part is the essays, as she wants to see if you have learned. Her demeanor once felt off-putting, but now she seems nicer. She says things frankly at times.
Worley is organized which is why I decided to take her. Her lectures are alright, but she expects perfection. We have weekly discussion boards in which I have never seen her compliment a student. She only corrects you. You'll survive taking her class but there are better options.
Very straight forward class. Must answer 5-6 questions on a discussion board at the end of every week. The lectures are a long web page about the weeks chapter, with an audio recorded lecture as well. She has a pretty high vocabulary and expects quality answers. Only 3 tests with 50 questions (very easy), and 2 750-1200 word essays(movie, book)
While her assignments are very easy and straight forward. Everything is piled on and it's a struggle to complete them on time. I absolutely wouldn't recommend her if you're queer. Her entire lesson on Sex & Gender was a mess, she neglected safe space guidelines. She allowed students to repeatedly use the f-slur and express transphobic opinions.
Most engaged professor in online Discussions I've experienced. Discussion board is fairly heavy and you must participate - you can't skim through class and expect to get a good grade. If you want to learn she is fantastic. She's clear on assignments, expectations, and grading. I have total respect for this brilliant professor.
I do not recommend. While the history part of the class was what I gravitated toward, the material itself was very heavy and at times hard to understand. Lots of reading and expectations with your work. Final paper is extremely difficult and big. So glad that semester is over! Left a bad taste in my mouth for taking another Anthropology class...
This professor was great, I had a few difficulties during my semester medically, but she was very helpful in helping me bring up my grade, she is very patient and understanding. She is an awesome professor.
This was a very discussion post based class, but the prof interacted in discussion boards, which I appreciated. Not a hard course at all, and it was very interesting!
Awesome teacher, I would take her class again, she is a very patient and caring person, and is fair with her grading criteria, and if you get behind she will help you bring your grade up.
She doesn't care about the quality of your work. Just if you do it or not. Don't bother putting a paragraph for the discussions, you'll still get full credit for the assignment if you do the absolute bare minimum and do it on time.
Fantastic teacher, really fun lectures. Easy to work with in regards to late work and, generally, is very forgiving of absences. Good amount of extra credit: an optional assignment and optional test rewrites. Only issue is tests are majorly on the material from the provided textbook, not lectures. They are open book though, so it's not an issue.
Professor Worley was very fun to have this semester. She is so great when it comes to making material easy to understand and is very engaging. Lots of extra credit opportunities and very forgiving when it comes to late work and absences. She is also great with communicating and answered all of my emails within 24 hours.
Good professor. I will recommend her.
