He makes a tough subject easy
he is a good instructor, but his test is not hard unless you had chemistry in high school. he is really helpful in office hours.
He is a great teacher. He will do what ever it takes for you to understand. Just work extra problems and see him if you need help!
I hated this class. He was not clear on what we were study for the test. Only one person made an A in the class.
he is a tough teacher....he curves his tests a bit, but not enough to make a difference. If you take notes, go to class and study hours before the test its not enough. Make sure you do this times 10. And be sure to do the electronic homework. That helps out a bit.
he's a good prof...make sure you work hard and participate in class and in labs. study for the tests and make sure you do all the electronic homework and show up on time for quizzes.
Very hard teacher, you can not understand him very well and he does not make his reviews clear on whats on the test. You get the test and its not what you thought it would be at all. He is really nice and wants to help you, but if you are not strong in chem to start with go with another prof. He will just make things harder on you in the long run!!
Very hard. Don't take the summer course if you can help it or take it somewhere else! Was not helpful and did not curve grades at all so don't count on that. Very detail oriented.
I really like Dr. Azimi. He's a fun teacher, although intimidating at first. He's very detail oriented, but then again, so is chemistry. Get to know him and talk to him outside of class and you'll understand his teaching methods better. You'll also have an easier time in class. He wants his students to succeed, and he puts in the time to help.
He does not explain very well what's on the test, and he's horrible in lab class. One basically doesn't know what's going on in lab class. He says one thing and then he says another. Do not take him unless you want a C on your grade. His tests are hard!
Although he intimidating at first, he is actually a really nice guy. He has a very clear and methodical teaching style and is willing to help you in class or outside of class. His test are hard, but they are not impossible. Do the problems he tells you to work on and go to his office to get help wit problems you get stuck on.
Dr. Azimi is one of the most difficult professors that I ever took, but possibly the best I ever had at the same time. If you need lots of chemistry for your degree or career, Dr. Azimi will make you work so hard that you'll succeed in all chem classes. Make use of his office hours and use the chap. ?'s in the book to study for the test.Good luck!
Do not take this class!
There is a ton of work you have to do in this class but I respect Professor Azimi, his lectures are clear but if you don't get it he can help you. He is willing to help those who pay attention in class. I suggest getting into a good study group it helped me a lot. (Took Chem I and II in the summer).
I had him for GChem 1 over the summer...BIG mistake! For the electronic/online hw, I typed in the course # HE provided on the syllabus, and apparently my hw was sent to his Chem 2 gradebook. He didn't tell me until the last day of class and had given me a unrecoverable 0 hw average. His tests were hard & did not reflect what was learned in class.
Phenominal chemistry professor. Be ready to work hard and study long hours for very difficult tests. Also be ready to learn alot -- you will be prepared to take any other chem class you need to if you stick with Azimi. Once you get to know Azimi you see how funny and helpful he is. He really wants his students to succeed, and if you let him he will help you.
Excellent teacher! Prepared me for the hard work ahead in med school! Work hard and do tons of homework!
Great Teacher. His tests are very hard, but if you study and pay attention in class you will do good. This is a very hard class so if you are not willing to study don't take it. It is possible to make an A and you will learn a lot if you stick with it. I highly recommend taking Azimi if you are planning on majoring in science.
Very Unhelpful. Not clear at all, DO NOT take this course if you want to pass. Extremely nit picky, and throws questions onto the test that were not discussed in class. He isn't at his office hours the majority of the time, and he doesnt answer questions clearly in class. Gives off an air of arrogance, awful all around.
Gen Chem is a tough course but Dr. Azimi makes as clear as possible. He has little tolerance for students who do not put effort forth. He does grade very hard. I would highly recc him for any student that plans on taking higher level chem classes as Dr. Azimi certainly provide a good foundation. Work hard and you can do well is class.
Awesome teacher. No tollerance for absence, being late, etc. Very clear and always helpful. He makes it clear what types of problems you will need to know for the test. Goes over study problems during the lecture part of the Lab. Very organized and amazing teacher. EXTREMELY HARD AND STRICT MARKER. Study what he asks and you will get an A
he was hard, but i would say that i learned the most from him than any prof that i took at my last university... really helped me to love chem even more. just do the HW problems and u'll do just fine.
Very hard teacher. Expects you to be there everyday and on time. Hates when people look at the clock and doesn't allow phones. Half of the things on the test weren't discussed in the lecture. Has a lot of notes, but I didn't find them too useful. He went over them too fast and didn't elaborate. I'd say find someone else...
difficult
this man isn't as bad as the one i dropped at the northwest campus but he isnt gooe so RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!
I got A!!Amazing teacher!SECRET:do all the excercises that he assigns in the text book,& solve in the board, they'll be the same in tests for sure!Go to his office,he'll explain clearly, patient & very helpful. For pre-lab assignments, ask the tutorial guy in the Chemt tutorial room,he'll give you all, just copy & and get A for lab easy.Highly recommen
I've loved chemistry since I studied his class. He solves all the problems on board,& puts some of them to the tests. He's very helpful, explains all of your questions when you come to his office often.Highly recommended! Some guys & I got A from his Chemt 1 & 2.
He is a GOOD Professor but is extremely difficulut. If Chem isn't your forte then do not take him. I organized a Study Group and still made a D! He is extremely hard. What you learn from him you will always remember. If you pass his class, more power to you. Extremely, EXTREMELY HARD!
do not try to be superman and go against the odds on this one unless you are okay with a C or a D
Azimi's cool. The class is not an easy A. If you think that you may struggle with the course, then come to class everyday and ask questions during his office hours. If you are a slacker, then you won't last long in his class. He gives plenty of homework, and quizzes. He is a SLACKER DESTROYER. Good Luck!
Really interesting.
very helpful, sexy man.
Gives homework and uses power points from MasteringChemistry. The class is not an easy A, and only 1/4 of the class was left by the final exam. But he's a very nice man and will work with you and help you understand when you have questions.
This class is not for the faint of heart. Azimi is an enjoyable teacher who is willing to help those who help themselves. The class is relatively fast-paced, but nowhere near impossible if you go every day. There is an online assignment due with each chapter and occasional reading. I highly recommend him to all science majors needing 1411/1412.
tough teacher, his tests are really hard and this class is a waste of time unless your ready to work!
at first class meeting . Dr. Azimi seems to be a tough one. but if you as a students do your share of work. he will give it all to help. i enjoyed taking a class with him this past summer.
Azimi is a moderatley hard teacher who will call you out in class if you are not there everyday and the book is mandatory for reading because he is not all together clear using his powerpoints. He has ample examples durng class and does have a Middle Eastern accent. The labs are very complex and his lab tests are outrageously too expecting to pass.
i used to be the top student in chem I but when taking his class, i really tried hard to get along w him....and i got an A in return. Man, if ya seriously wanna pass this class, take other teachers.
This is not an easy class. I will admit that i didnt prepare very well. He can certainly prove that he knows that material, but he won't go out of his way to make sure you do. Plan ahead, study a bunch, and get ready for a hard class. Not recommended
Great teacher. He is not easy and it is difficult to meet with him outside of class. He is also very strict. Loved his class though. I have since gotten a B in CHEM2 but I don't feel like I understand it anywhere near as well as i did with Azimi. Transfer students should definitely take him. He will prepare you for a University!!
Azimi is definatly not an easy prof, he lectures w/ ppts but you must have the book to fully understand the material. Attendance is mandatory & you should always prepare yourself before lecture & lab if not you are on your own. Make a buddy in class & FORM A STUDY GROUP! His exams are also hard but as long as your on top of things you wil be ok.
This is not an easy class! The book really helps and do some practice problems on your own, they def help on the test. Do your MasteringChem HW! If you show that you are trying to succeed in his class he will like and respect you. He's a pretty cool teacher just don't get on his bad side. I def recommend if you are willing to work hard.
I had him for Chem1&2-Great teacher, but wont stand for laziness. If you attend, take notes from his powerpoints, and do the exercises he assigns, you'll do well. He is super clear about what's on the tests, so exam prep was straightforward. Invest the time, show you care, study the textbook, and you'll walk out with a good knowledge of Chemistry.
He is a very smart instructor. But, he doesn't teach. he just tells you what he is doing as he does it but doesn't tell you when or how you're supposed to be doing things. You HAVE to go to class. I went everyday, had a tutor and still failed. I would not recommend him to a student who can not self teach. good luck, choose someone else.
Super-nice teacher that works hard to explain a lot of material well in a short amount of time. I didn't take high school Chemistry, but did the assignments, asked for help, and practiced as he suggested ; I was more successful than I thought that I could be. He will prepare you well if you'll do your part, too.
A very good class, you have to do all of your work in order to do well in this course but it is manageable. Tests are not too hard as long as you study your reviews for the test. Would recommend.
I went to tutorials watched youtube tutorials everything and still failed every test. His sapling assignments aren't so easy either. Now i have to retake this hellish class.
Dr Azimi is a good professor, may be intimidating at first. Negative ratings are the people didn't study efficiently or they like things handed to them, like their knowledge, which won't happen in Chem 1411 with Azimi. Test are very similar to lec notes. If you actually want to learn and make an easy A then study. Azimi is very clear at explaining.
You really need the book because everything in lecture comes straight out of the book. All homework comes from practice problems in the book. He is a VERY tough grader!!! He goes through at least one red pen a day I'm guessing. You can know the concepts but it's all about how he feels like grading that day.
Dr Azimi is best professor. If you have plan to take MCAT take this class. He make chemistry so sweet and underestandable.
Azimi Is one of the best I've ever known. You will be in a for a treat. He is super clear; he is a fair grader; he expects you to work. The fact is, his teaching works. I got mostly C's and B in HS Chem, but as a HS senior, in his class, I for mid to high 90's on all the exams (including a 100). He has such clarity that it makes the class easy.
Dr. Azimi was a decent professor. Work was fault easy and he did a pretty good job on explaining everything but was just a tough grader. He expected everyone to show every step regardless of the value. You could skip a simple step on accident like a mental calculation abs could get points taken off from it.
Azimi is a fair teacher, maybe overly so. Pay extra special attention to each an every thing that he tell you he wants to see in a process, because if you miss a single step (even one that can easily be done mentally) you will lose lots of points. Failed me by one tenth of one point, at 59.90%, but reported my grade as a D. Expect no breaks.
Dr. Azimi is just a fine professor. He is tough and he cares about a very small mistake. His tests are difficult and you have to be really good to get an A in his class. You will study a lot and prepare thoroughly for his tests. Do not take him if you do not want an easy A. He is tough but that will make you better in chemistry.
Best for GENERAL chem. He is so clear-cut, it's beautiful. HOWEVER, he only does 89.99 for an A. I passed his class with an 89.61 and still received a B. Very heartbreaking! but nonetheless, this is a solid teacher. I even changed my major to a more chemistry-based subject because of this class. take him! Do homework and read your labs beforehand.
good teacher, get ready to read in order to do well. he is not easy , care about his students.
He's a very good professor. Definitely not an easy A, but if you're looking to learn, you've found the right place. Be ready to work for it, though.
Dr. Azimi is not a good professor. He reads straight from the book and doesn't explain what he is reading. When asked a question by a student, he responded, "I don't know. That's just how it is." This demonstrates his lack of interest in actually teaching the course. His grading criteria is not clear, therefore many students miss out on some points
Do not take this professor. Worst expirence I have ever had in any class. You'll regret it.
Dr. Azimi is a fantastic professor. The posts here saying otherwise are from people who didn't care enough to apply themselves. It's true he is VERY picky with grades, but that's because the class is for STEM majors and even small mistakes are things you can't afford in the real world. Unlike other teachers, he won't hold your hand, which is good.
Bad professor. Don't waste your time. He's condescending and doesn't give feedback on anything, he also teaches the bare minimum so you're left confused and having to do extra work outside of class to understand materials. Very dull and hard to listen to during lectures, make sure you show up early cause you'll have a quiz nearly ever day.
Dr. Azimi's Gen Chem class is no joke. He's hard. You get the grade you deserve and that's that. I personally loved his class because I actually learned. If you take his course and make it though, you'll be ahead of the curve. Just saying.
Great professor, makes you learn, gives you the tools you have to use them to pass, unrelenting in the way he teaches; if you pass.. YOU earned the passing grade. if you failed, you failed. straight forward, he grades tough so do the work and pay attention to small details. all in all great professor if you want to learn and retain.
Go and look for someone else, honestly. My class went from 20 students to only 5 students. There are 5 exams in total with the final exam includes 13 chapters, good luck with that (NO REVIEW). Many homework and lab, exams are hard as well. I notice there is not an A in this class cause the teacher is picky. Believe it or not, up to you. Disaster.
Because of COVID we are online. This class is the only one I am having severe trouble in. Technical difficulties with the online text book from day one. Meaning all the curriculum that he requires you to read in order to learn the content was completely unavailable and he's very difficult to learn from. Won't budge on due dates even with tech issue
His online class is extremely unorganized. You basically have to teach yourself through Pearson and Labflow which is fine until you have to do his course work which have unclear grading criteria and not even basic instructions. The good reviews say his class is hard but a good professor would make the class easier to understand not harder.
An incredibly tough grader. all processes must be flawlessly executed and specifically detailed. Exact purpose must be given for every step or points will be deducted. if you do not understand, or get answers wrong nothing will be done to help you better understand the problem or methods of solving, you will simply be told you are incorrect.
never sends out announcements about homework, randomly assigned typically day of and expects you to check daily. only recently was the homework assigned a day in advance and typically has been everyday, even on weekends. rude when asking for clarification, has unclear grading criteria, will give you a bad grade just because he didnt like format
Prof. Azimi's class is tough to get through. I took his class in spring 2020, and the only reason I believe I passed was because we switched to online classes, where tests became open note. Tests are extremely difficult, as he teaches the bare minimum. He was also a poor communicator on what his expectations were
He makes learning difficult b/c he chooses not to teach. He wants you to read the book and come to class ready to work the examples. 4 tests including the final. 13 labs he drops the lowest lab. Straight forward man and is not about the bs. Read the syllabus or honestly dont take his class find another professor tbh. I dont know how I passed!!
trust me, as someone who actually puts effort into my classes, he does not teach. he scratches the surface of the material but expects you to know it on a deep level. he's very picky when grading, it's insane. most stressful class of my entire life. Do not take him whatsoever. it would be better to go to a different campus. Very hard class.
I love chemistry but hated it after this class. Surface level teaching, tests are ridiculously hard. He takes pride in making students drop & enjoys putting them down. He's awkward &has poor social cues. Labs are insufferable because he expects you to know everything and no room for error. This class inflicted great emotional and mental pain on me.
Great professor, dry humor, takes crap from no one.
Take another professor. This class is self-taught through the book. He doesn't teach and his lectures barely scratch the surface. If you do have to take this class, go to the science lab (10+ hours a week) for help and make sure to review the test example problems there. He won't teach you how to do the problems so get help from the tutors.
Please DO NOT take this class. He doesn't know how to teach. He only talks not teach. He counts off on every knit-picking thing regardless if you get the correct answer. He needs to work at an Ivy League school.
He gives good outlines for his tests, just make sure you study how to do the problems the way he wants you to. Use the tutors for help on labs and make sure to pay attention in lectures. Dr. Azimi is a very fair grader and is willing to help you out in office hours. He may seem intimidating at first, but really, he's a teddy bear.
This professor is very strict with grading. If you forget the littlest of things he takes off points on tests. Would not recommend him at all.
If the worst class on earth was a competition this class would have won the medal!
There are passionate & inspiring professors & then there's this person who I'm not sure how he got his qualifications. He would make a special effort to project and channel bad energy toward you and would leave you with a lasting sense of sorrow and self-doubt. Take the class with someone who is willing to actually teach and do the job. horrendous
He likes things done a certain way and if you don't comply then you will lose points. His lectures are pretty engaging; however,he does usually expect you to know some material from the textbook.I think about half the class dropped by the end of the semester, and a many that didn't drop still failed.Would recommend taking chem elsewhere if possible.
DO NOT TAKE! All he does for lectures is take notes for an hour and a half and its SUPER slow. Whenever he grades tests, he will take off points if you missed something so small. All tests (except the lab exam) are free response so you must be very good at knowing how to read and put that into equations to solve.
Professor Azimi's treatment of students has been consistently unprofessional. His failure to provide clear explanations and his role in fostering a toxic learning environment cannot be ignored. We encourage all students to share their experiences and report this behavior for an immediate change of professor. We deserve a better chemistry education.
Chem 1 and Chem 2 both A's. Professor Azimi gets a lot of hate for holding students accountable, being on time, studying/knowing the material, and to ask questions! He will tell you exactly what the expectations are..it's up to you to meet them. I have no regrets taking my chems with professor azimi, it was very rewarding to earn my A.
Harsh attendance: seconds late = absent; too many, dropped. $40 text + Aktiv Chem. Random HW, no due date alerts, 3 tries, some untaught. Strict sig fig grading. Must mimic prof's format or 0 credit. Chaotic labs, vague prelabs, smudges cost points. Heavy quizzes, no late work, strict exams. Disorganized, rigid, A&M students avoid.
The worst professor i've ever had, horrible teacher. Doesn't care about any issues you have he'll just give you a 0. Doesn't specify what he's asking for and blames it on you. If you bring up a mistake he makes he gets mad and won't change your grade no matter what you do. The worst professor i've ever had. IF YOU CAN DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS
Dr Azimi is the best professor I've ever had. He's always available to help outside of class and truly wants you to succeed; but he wants you to put the work in. The effort you put towards learning and participating WILL reflect in your grade. He's strict, but its for your benefit! Chemistry is hard, but his teaching style makes it simpler!
Do not take this class!! Even if it is the last class available. He will take off points if you do not show every little calculation in your work & if u do not solve problems EXACTLY how it teaches in the textbook. Oh, and if you're late or miss a day of lecture or lab no matter the reason you will get a zero on everything done that day no makeups!
Probably the worst professor I've taken. Way to high of expectations for an introduction class and little to no sympathy with grading. I did not have a problem with the professor until maybe 2 months in when I noticed I was getting the same answers with other students but received a 40/100 because of a couple missed notations for units.
He grades tough on sig figs, units, etc (attention to detail is key), which is frustrating at the time, but looking back this class set me up extremely well for other STEM courses. Clear expectations, fair partial credit, great notes, and thorough lab explanations. Lectures are boring, but you learn. Would take again, but do not expect an easy A.
