LOTS OF NOTES, easy A must study all notes, must go to class! very boring!!!!
Absolutely hilarious... Rocks my world.
not bad if you like to take notes and study by memorization....all lecture!
You have to go to class but tells you what everything that is on the test!Easy A
Tests are easy, you must attend every class though. Talks a little funny
He is great...the class is so incredibly easy. He has an accent but if you have a brain you can understand him! Easy A.
easy class...funny jokes...drink a lot of caffine before it
I absolutely loved that class. Kwasi is a great guy, the accent adds to everything. If you can't handle it, all that shows is your lack of culture. Class is an easy A if you give satisfactory effort.
Boring material, lots of writing but as long as you study it's easy. Says tests grades in order, so you know who failed and who did good.
has probably had the same notes from the 70s. i hated the class
His accent is great! Class is all notes-study them and you have an instant A.
Horrible teacher. His tests were never on what he said..Hates Americans
Easy, easy class, just memorize the notes and they are EXACTLY what is on the exam. Just don't expect to get much out of it. Notes are from like 1975.

good teacher, class is all notes though. tests are very detailed and on a ton of information at once...you just need to memorize the notes he gives you.
just remember, YOU MAKE YOUR OWN BED!!! is his line, test are easy if u study notes well, I had an 83 average but since i went to class i ended up with a 93
boring...bring a pillow or a coloring book or something...not a hard teacher if you study, which i didn't
He is a very good teacher. The tests are easy, take this class for an easy A . He treats everyone equally and explains everything, he knows a lot about what he teaches and isn't just reading his notes. READ YOUR NOTES AND EXPECT AN A .
Class is all on overhead-no stories or anything boring! Tells you wrong stuff for tests. I would not take again.
Hahaha.. Kwasi!! My friend and I passed notes all the friggen time. Just memorize his overhead from 1902 and you'll be fine. Don't miss a class. Soo boring.. and he mumbles like a madman!
the class makes me laugh...easy enough...take the class, if for no other reason, just to experience the unique fashion sense of kwasi sarfo!!! and because magic overhead fairies come to fix it when it breaks...you'll feel like a scribe, but good class
Easy teaching style, tries to make class fun... no lecturing!!
KWASI SARFO is the best teacher ever. Very easy class, tests are exactly from notes. I never even got a book, no need. Good ol' Kwasi. Great class, definately take this one
He is the easiest prof. all his tests come straight from the notes, dont get the book. He has lots of notes but the tests are so easy!!!
All notes from the overhead. after a two test you should be able to decipher what you need to copy down and what not to. always show up to class also, he takes attendence every time.
He is to lecture based, reading off an overhead with the lights out at 8am. He is willing to try and explain concepts to students. He also drones on putting students to sleep. The material is interesting, but presentation is horrid.
His class is extremely easy if you are willing to study a little bit. He is a nice man, friendly, and helpful, but his lectures are just reading off of overheads from the 80's. He tells you exactly what to study. Easy A.

There are a lot of notes, and the test are exactly from the notes. You have to be willing to study, he makes me laugh though.
Gives you the entire test from your notes and additional credit for showing up to class, course is a breeze just simple memorization, not tough at all.
Very easy as long as you go to class. Notes are from the overhead and he tells you what is going to be on the test. If you study for about 2 hrs(even less if you're good at memorization) for each test it should be an easy A.
besides the fact that i know way too much about africa now, that class was awful. so many notes my hand should have fallen off everyday. thats all it is, notes. if u study them, easy B, possible A. i didnt like him.
Not a difficult class - just sit down, shut up, and copy the notes. He can be funny sometimes, other times boring - tends to overelaborate on simple points. Don't bother buying the book for this class, you'll never use it.

go to class, take notes everyday and take five 50 question multiple choice test...cake walk
He was a jerk. A blind person with no mouth could teach better than him. All he did was read off of an overhead for three months. Then he made us watch African cooking shows with Elmo for two weeks---fun! You will get a B...no more, no less.
Lots and lots of notes. About 250 transparencies of notes. He's been using the same notes for the past 12 years! I have typed the notes up on my computer, so if anyone is interested in buying them off me, e-mail me at [email protected]

Ok class. Boring. Never lets out early. Tests can be passed by memorizing the notes. Not an easy A, unless you have time to memorize all the notes.
This class was horrible. Kwasi is a nice guy but you can not afford to miss more than 2 classes so def DON'T take it at 8 or 9 like I did. You have to memorize ALOT of notes but tests aren't too bad if you study notes.
this guy is an ****. I needed the class to graduate and he refused to listen to me. ****
A really nice guy, but hard as heck to understand. He makes all these little jokes and just really cracks himself up. He gives a lot of notes, but it makes the tests easier, so it's not too bad. I'd rather have him than a language!
Lots of freakin notes to look at for each thought provoking test. Things appear on the test that you might not have learned
A Helpful Nice Man
Lots of notes but SOO easy if you study. No homework or papers, just 5 multiple-choice tests. Recommend!
Sarfo is definitely a unique person, but definitely very nice and helpful as long as you are respectful in class. study all from notes for exam, dont really need text. attendance counts! show up, take notes, head home.
lots of notes, no papers or homework just exams. lot's of material to study for each exam STUDY STUDY STUDY exams only have 50 multiple choice out of like 10 pages of notes front and back, hard exams. show up to class, don't need to read book, just take notes and STUDY STUDY STUDY
awful. you read from the overhead and go for the full 50 min. His tests are hard.
Terrible teacher, works completely w/transparencies and reads directly off them, his multiple choice tests are very difficult, it's the longest 50 minutes you'll go through, take any other international studies course.
With a little bit of effort, this class is a guaranteed "A". Kwasi's style is a little dry, but his expectations are clear, and as long as you can attend class, take notes and study, you will be fine. Anyone who does poorly in this class obviously doesn't care about school a whole lot.
Lecture Test Lecture Test etc. no papers, no hmwk-which is good but he may as well not even be African b/c he never talks about it! test Q's are right from notes, attendance policy sux. could be more interesting but ends up being one of those classes where you cram and then forget!
Notes all on overhead, not interesting for the visual learner. Never look at a map of Africa. Tests from the notes, does give hints as to what to study. Must memorize some useless things like name changes and capital changes... that is what maps are for!
Easy A, show up, take the notes, read them over a few times before the test and that is it. Lets you know up front what is expected. Do the work and there is no reason not to get an A
Good teacher, difficult to understand due to thick accent, but a nice guy and fair grader.
All he did was put up transparencies and read from them. You copied, and it was tough keeping up. Class needs to be made more interesting.
Easy A if you go to class and study your notes. All of the questions come right from the notes. He adds humor to the lectures and his accent makes it interesting. I do not see why anyone would do horrible unless you don't go to class.
Have to go to class, all notes on overhead, test are kinda hard but study and its really not that bad but the tests cover alot of information,
Lots of notes, interesting subject.
He was very clear on what was going to be on tests. Everything was from overheads. Some find that boreing, I, however, found it much easier than a lot of other classes. Great guy and answers any questions.... just ask and make sure the questions are logical, not stupid... he has little time for repetitiveness.
If you think this class is hard drop out of college
sometimes he starts at like 8:58 and that pisses me off. it is the same thing everyday, and overheads make me sleepy. not hard to do well in if you study your notes, but i never feel like going b/c it is so repetitive.
Attendance is mandatory. Class is interesting but can be very boring by taking notes on the overhead all class period. Needs to find a better way of teaching. If you study his notes, which is alot for the test, you will do fine. All questions come straight from notes.
Very laughable and laid back guy. Gives a ton of notes and all from overhead. 5 tests and all multiple choice. No papers or presentations. Take Africa!
Greatest teacher of all time
Take Africa with Sarfo...He is Great! His tests are directly from the overhead class notes. You don't need to buy the book, I never opened mine! Attendance is mandatory. He doesn't give homework or projects, just the tests. If you go to class and study your notes and memorize what he tells you to know for the test you will easily get an A.
the worst professor i have ever had at ycp. biggest jerk you will ever meet. does not care about his students. the end.
Brilliant...The man is a genius.
This professor was horrible. Just lectures from the overhead. Has had the same notes for like 40 years but even if you get them from someone else you can't miss class or you fail. THIS CLASS SUCKS! tests are pure memorization. Oh, and everyone is ****. All I can say is- Worst. Class. EVER.
I don't understand some people... Dr. Sarfo is awesome. He loves what he teaches and is willing to talk with you after class if you have any questions. Class is based off of five exams (50 multiple choice) Questions are right from the notes! the txt book is not necessary!! If you study all the notes you take from clas, you will get an A on the exam
Attendance is mandatory. Do not buy book. Tests are all memorization. The only thing this class id good for is if you have a photographic memory. Take the class at your own risk
Seriously, this class is NOT AT ALL as bad as people are saying it is on here. You should not get a grade lower than a B. Sounds to me like some people do not put fourth some studying time, which you can easily ace his exams if you look at the notes! NO papers no need to buy the book=] Take the class its an easy ADR
Very good teacher. Study his overhead slides, and you should do fine on his tests. I highly recommend taking this professor.
Have to go to class. Go to class and takes notes down from hand written slides. Boring. He does make some funny jokes, but soooooo boring. Test suck 50 multiple choice, and i know it doesn't sound bad, BUT it does. But other then that no homework but he is the only teacher so have fun
Rude, distant to needs/questions/problems. he goes through the motions and only cares about taking attendance. would NOT recommend EVER
Do not take this class! Very boring. All he does is read from the overhead notes that he has had for 20 years. If there is no other option, get the notes from someone who had the class in previous years!-as they have not changed! Then just show up for your 10% attendance grade and chill while everyone else around you is developing carpal tunnel.
Professor Sarfo is a brilliant man. He knows exactly what he is talking about. Although his notes may be the same notes that he has used in previous years - HISTORY doesn't change people! It's a FACTS class. Study the notes and don't miss class! If you memorize the notes you will ACE his test no problem. Don't take if you are looking for a cheap A
He does not use the book at all. Attendance is extremely important for notes and it is 10% of the grade. Lots of notes almost every class but he knows what he is teaching extremely well. Take all the notes even if it doesn't seem important. He gives you what you need to know for the test and if you study you should get no lower then a B
He seems to be a nice teacher but it's important to remember that teaching is not just about giving notes; it's about making sure the students have a greater grasp on the subject than before. I just do not see that happening in the class. He does give a unique insight into the subject because he is from Africa, but his teaching lacks interaction.
I did not enjoy the class, if only for the facts that the notes are forced-fed and at a rapid pace, there is little to no interaction between teacher and student, and his demeanor is very polarizing. Some like him but many do not. He gives a unique perspective on the subject but I feel that the experience was tarnished somehow.
NOTES NOTES NOTES. all he does is give notes on an overhead projector and show an occasional movie from the 80s. Very boring, hard to get motivated to go to class. The only thing that kept me going was attendance was 10% of the grade
Do Not Take this Class! He is the worse teacher I ever had. You have lots of tests, and thats all...ooh and the tests come from notes..lots and lots of notes off an overhead! I studied for these tests and still couldnt get an A. Very Hard. Very Boring! I asked to see my test one day at the end of class, instead of just the grade, and he told me No.
Does not seem very interested in helping students. hard on the whole class if a few people dont do well. does not even check e-mail.
I ended up loving this class. He repeats himself a lot and you arent allowed to miss any class. If you miss 3 days 10% is taken off your grade. He tells you exactly what to study for the tests. You watch movies towards the end of the semester alot. I would recommend him for anyone trying to get out of taking a language.
Hand writen notes every day unless you bring your cp. He still uses an overhead projector and hand writen slides. Very dry and boring. Makes rude comments and makes it known that if you do not come to class you are lazy and will fail. Attendance is mandatory; miss 3 classes and your grade gets dropped 10% no questions asked. Would not recomend.
Intro to Africa - It's strict memorization. Copy his notes exactly and study what he tells you to, and you'll do fine. His attendance policy is a little unfair. Other than that it's an easy class so long as you study. Requires next to no out of class work aside from 1-2 hours of studying before exams. Do not buy the textbook, you won't need it.
Show upto class take notes from handwritten slides on the projector. he tells you exactly what to study on for the test. Show up and put in a little effort and you will get an a. Attendance is mandatory but its college, dont be a slack and you will do fine. Would take another class by him.
This sucked! He calls the class stupid all the time, puts us down. The tests are horrible. The y good thng is that if you go to class everyday you get 10 points added on at the end.
Not a big fan considering all of the notes are somewhere between 10-15 years old. Personable enough, but probably should stick to teaching Law instead. At least then the old dusty notes apply.
Legitimately one of the worst classes I've ever taken. I was so excited to take this course & am so disappointed. The material is incredibly outdated and his teaching style of pure lecture is horrendous for a class like this. You could not pay me enough money to take this professor again.
Show up to class, take notes, study. It's as simple as that to pass the class. He tells you exactly what's on the exams (50 multiple choice questions). His sense of humor is dry, but funny. He expects the students to be mentally present during class, and is a helpful resource. People who fail simply don't study or show up.
classic sarfo. notes from overhead all class. tells what is exactly on test. tests were short answer.
Hes kind of annoying, says things that do not matter but if you just copy the notes directly from the over head and study what he tells you in the review you should get an A in the class. Its strictly a memorizing course, DO NOT BUY THE BOOK
Notes are all from an overhead and thats all you do all class (nice to see I'm paying thousands to copy off of an overhead). Only grades are 5 tests and a final. Tests are MC. Don't buy the book, he's working on his own. Study and you'll do fine. Oh and attendance is mandatory and you don't get a SINGLE freebee so your grade drops 3% per absence.
Unless you absolutely must take this class, don't. You literally will be wasting your money to have a professor read off of his overheads at a rapid rate. It's not hard to get an A as long as you write down the notes, but it is not enjoyable in the least. Avoid at all costs.
Boring class. You copy his hand written notes off the overhead every class all semester. Hard to understand.
Professor Sarfo is a brilliant man, and passionate about what he teaches! The class is a breeze, strictly notes and then tests, and he outlines for you exactly what will be on the test. Attendance is mandatory which sucks, but other than that the class is super easy. Dr Sarfo is extremely nice and helpful too, as long as you're respectful
EASY CLASS unless you are lazy. He is straight forward. and gives a study guide before the exam. Literally just study lecture notes. A
Very easy class as long as you pay attention. Gives you a study guide before the test and everything you need to know is in the notes.
Dr. Sarfo is very nice. Book is not necessary for class. Tests are strictly from notes given in class. Recommend bringing laptoptablet to type notes up, it's a LOT to write. Gives study guides before tests, but recommend studying all material covered. Mandatory attendance. Very Funny, intellectual, awesome prof. DEFINTELY RECOMMEND!
If you just need an easy elective to get through, then this is for you. I have an A with a newborn at home. But if that's not your top priority don't take it. You literally just copy notes for 50 minutes. Don't buy the textbook and he's not helpful if you have questions, stick to notes.
He lectures the entire time from an overhead. He also is rude to anyone who asks a question. Often makes jokes that are insulting to your intelligence.
No ability to teach. Still in the ice ages, uses overhead projector and original notes from his first year at college. Total lecture and no enhancements for cultural clarity. No moddle, no response to emails, refuses to help. I had a family member funeral to attend, was told me that I would fail the test for that day if I did not attend class
He gives 5 tests and that's all there is to the class. No homework, no assignments, just tests. Each test is 50 questions and he tells you exactly what to study. The lectures are full of notes, so bring your laptop. I averages a B on tests, but he adds 10% to your grade if you attend every class.
Literally the worst class I've ever taken. He makes rude and insulting jokes about the class the entire period, especially if someone asks for clarification. He uses outdated hand written overhead projection sheets, and if you go to office hours for help he will tell you he is busy grading, and not help you, repeatedly.
He gives you the notes and thats exactly what the test is. All his tests for global issues were multiple choice. All you have to do is read your notes and you'll pass the test. Definitely take this class.
Classes are taught on an overhead projector, so if you aren't in class to take the notes yourself and don't know anyone in the class- you're screwed. Tests are on THE MOST MINUTE details (some of which were only mentioned during a single mini-lecture so pay attention to everything!)
I find it very difficult to find nice words to say about this man. Rude, disrespectful, not a help at all, will not answer emails. Dr. Sarfo has no business teaching because he does not care about the students. I was a 5th year senior when taking this class, had very good track record with passed professors. This man was evil. DO NOT TAKE
All he does in talk in class. All grading is based on 5 exams. Teaches on an overhead. But if you type your notes and do flash cards, you'll pass easily. Make sure you attend class.
Talks all class. Still uses a projector and clear sheets to "teach" but all he does is read off the slides, repeats what he just said, and explains nothing that he says. The slides are written in sentence format, no bulleted lists unless it's required, so there's a lot of extra information. His english isn't perfect, so there's confusing sentences.
It is easy if you study what he gives you. Learn the game
Sarfo has become one of my favorite professors at York! Although his lectures (done on an old projector) can be a tad boring, he's really a nice guy and is very knowledgeable about almost everything in his field. As long as you study and pay attention to his lectures, you'll be fine. Attendance is mandatory! If you skip a class, you're screwed!
terrible.
AWFUL.
Worst professor I've ever taken
Run for the Hills this Professor has extrema anger, and is extremely rude. His test are on his old Projector and his writing and spelling looks like it was done by a three-year-old. This is the worst professor I have ever had in my life. Whatever you do do not take this mans class. I drop this class because hes unprofessional.
We just witnessed this professor flip out on a few students in our class. Hes rude and out of control running amok on campus and getting away with it. He does whatever he wants to, and makes your life impossible. His class is overly hard for absolutely no reason. He does not test or teach out of the required book. And he makes things up as he goes
If you're taking any of his law classes expect to take lots and LOTS of notes. All 5 tests are based on only the notes and theres not other grades but the 5 test he gives throughout the semester. If you ask a question he tends to be condescending, although as the semester progresses he relaxes a bit on that. I'd say 6/10.
5 exams. All the questions come straight from the notes, don't bother buying the book for his law classes. You really have to study hard to do well. Final is extremely hard.
This professor was horrible, I bought the book for class and he never taught out of the book. (Run) dont take this class if you want to sleep peaceful at night!
This was the worst professor I ever had! Hes very rude and condescending! Hes very hard to understand and hes not very caring for his students. I was very excited about this course when I took this minor; until I took it with Safro I wound up dropping my minor! I literally had nightmares about this class. His test or overly hard. A nasty Man!
Geesh Sarfo is quite a character. Im surprised he still works for the College! Hes not nice and if you ask a question he will take your head off. He repeats himself very much. And uses an old overhead. His lectures are from the 1960s With some new information. Took notes and it was a book for each test basically five. Take someone else!
There is nothing good I could say about this Professors teaching abilities. The class material is completely different from the book. He reads off of his notes in class and hes extremely hard to understand! Hes also not a nice person and his test make no sense. He never responds to emails and dose not use online at all. You are warned. Dont take
I find it very difficult to find nice words to say about this man. Hes Rude, disrespectful, not a help at all, he will not answer emails. Sarfo has no business teaching because he does not care about the students. Dr. Altman cover his behind So dont bother going to him for any help. They cover each other. This man was evil. DO NOT TAKE
this man is pure EVIL!
WORST TEACHER EVAR!!
When I actually do go to class, halfway through I begin to hate God for giving me the legs that brought me there
I think my ears were set on fire at least 100 times the sound of the fake accent made me want to kill myself! So your self a huge favor don't take this class with Kawasi! He cannot teach so he kills you with unnecessary work. If you do not listen to me youll be doing the same thing I'm doing at the end of the FALL Semester.
Im a big believer in energy and this Professors presents is pure darkness of evil. Safro is rude and talks over you walks away from you yells at students! And his handwriting sucks in the dinosaur overhead he uses from 1980. This was a really terrible class I took and I should have listened to the reviews on this site. You are officially warned.
This man has a bad attitude take another Professor! He not nice and has no consideration for us students. He dose not answer emails. If you take classes with this Professors after reading this review I took time to write to warn you then you will learn just like we all did and you deserve your torment.
A great guy but a bad prof. Overhead lectures, reads his notes verbatim to you, you copy down his notes onto your notes, doesnt answer student questions, and then he tests you on those notes 5 times. Thats it. Thats the class. Easy A if you memorize the notes and a friendly guy outside of class. But a real shame he teaches like this.
Professor Sarfo is amazing professor, he gives good feedback on written papers and his lectures are nearly word for word what's on the exam. the people who don't do well in his class either don't take notes or they don't study because its that simple.
This class consists solely of exams. if you are a bad test taker you will hate your life. you must take good notes during lectures or you wont do good. he's smart but gives bad advice when you ask for help.
this man uses a projector. do with that what you will.
Show up, copy his notes directly, study with Quizlet. That's all you need to pass. His test are 50 multiple choice questions copied from his notes. His commentary during his lectures is pretty entertain as well. It's not that hard honestly, but you do need to study. If you miss class often for personal reasons, don't take his class, you will fail.
every time I went to class I told myself over and over with somebody Just please cough in my mouth I wish I wouldve never taken this class.
All this class consists of is taking notes from an old fashion clear sheet projector, taking tests, and one essay. If you do take this professor I'd suggest showing up at least 10 minutes early because he won't hesitate to start before the designated time. Take someone else if you can.
Dr. Sarfo means well but his classes are either a love it or hate it. He has a specific teaching style and if you don't learn that way, then you're done for. Your grade rests ENTIRELY on the 4/5 tests you take and your attendance. He does not do in excused absences and you only get to miss 2 before you lose at least 20 percent of your final grade.
He loves flexing his phd but then blames the students when they perform poorly because 5/20some students got an A in a different section. Not a single 100% in my section for any exams. Not a single note is online unless he misses class. All notes are written pieces of paper that are projected on the board for you to copy. Have fun rotting.
Dr. Sarfo is a very smart man, but he is not a good lecturer. He reads off of slides that haven't been edited since England had a king and China was the most populous nation. Exams questions are the most random, specific information from the lectures. The only way to pass is write down everything he says, and then memorize all of it. He's mean too.
Please for the love of god do NOT take this professor if you don't have to. He is smart but not a good teacher. Attendance is 100% mandatory, he doesn't go back over notes if you missed something, he'll randomly start class 10 mins early sometimes, and he is mean. Exams consist of the most random yet specific things from his slides. Be warned.
Attend every class, take diligent notes, and utilize resources like Unstuck ai - that's the key to doing well in Professor Sarfo's PS110 course. While the exams can be tricky, the material is manageable if you put in the work.
Be warned, he not only teaches inaccurate, biased, and propagandized information, he also does not give you enough time to copy his hastily written notes, which he disposes of after class. He actively berates students that answer incorrectly and refuses to grade according to his rubrics. Avoid this teacher if possible.
