Difficult class but you will learn a lot!

Great style of teaching; very difficult but rewarding.

She is actually one of my favorite teachers at SMC. Rarely have i known any teacher to make herself so available to students for help. This class is not easy but she makes it interesting.

She was great, very dramatic in her lecture and very funny at times. She did seem to wander off to other subjects, but overall.....Loved it. It was not an easy course(bio 3) but pleasant to be in.

really good teacher , interesting lecture . Even a person with ADD would be interested in the human structure after taking a class with azuma . You really learn with her . One of my best teachers !

SHE IS A GREAT TEACHER...JUST A LOT OF INFORMATION AND MEMORIZATION. HONESTLY...I WOULD RECOMMEND HER BECAUSE SHE IS VERY INTERESTED IN TOPICS SHE TEACHES IN HER CLASSES AND SHE HAS A LOT OF ENERGY WHICH KEEPS YOU AWAKE ALL THROUGH HER LECTURE. :)

She is honestly the best Prof I have ever had! Knows her subject inside and out. Willing to take time outside of class to make sure you understand the material. I wish she taught all of the science courses I am required to take.She is the best SMC has to offer.

she is a moderately difficult teacher but she does add some personality and life into her lectures, which may be a bit hard in a science class. gets the job done but sometimes can go off on tangents which are amusing. hard tests but overall, she's decent.

Dr. A rocks! She knows her stuff and presents it in an interesting and entertaining. For those who say she's mean and hard, get a life! She is extremely helpful and held extra office hours before every exam.

She is a little firecracker. During the first few classes she tries to scare off the slackers, but then she seems to try and create a family atmosphere amongst all the students who are not scared away. Information heavy, but I think that is just the nature of the subject and is not her fault.

I wouldn't reccommend taking her. Her lectures are overwhelming, talking about too many things beyond the topic. It becomes too much information to sort through. A very heavy load class. Too heavy in my opinion for any 5 unit science.

Yes, Dr. Azuma has her moments, but she is a fabulous teacher. She knows her stuff and you can't help but learn when you sit in her classroom. She has a way of making something boring quite interesting. She is very tough, but she is also very generous with grades, as long as you put in the time.

If you do your HW, you will get knowledge and good grades.

Wow! Really weird teacher w/ knowledge of Biology for days. Can be ****y but what do you expect from educated woman? Anyways, pretty chill class for IGETC requirement. Study regularly; taking advantage of office hrs. Students that have posted a negative rating probably got a D/F or extremely sensitive. Wake up people, this is college.

I took her online class and as long as you follow her instructions carefully, you will be fine. But she is HARDCORE about following instructions. She does play favorites and has quite a temper. I would try taking science elsewhere.

Great teacher. Take this course. Dr. Azuma is one of the best teachers ever at SMC. Life Sciences is lucky to have her. I learned tons. I worked, but not more than other courses. She's just really helpful, smart, the best.

This is a hard class, but if you're going into medical field, do you want to be stupid during your clinicals or knowledgeable? This class will only make you a better clinician! Study for test by the powerpoints, and make your notes from them & lecture. Try to read chapters before lectures. I am very glad I too Azuma!! cardiovsclr is emphasized!

Phys3 is not an easy class so be prepared be prepared to put in a lot of hard work! However, Dr Azuma is very passionate about the subject and she made me want to major in Phys at the university level. Lectures are very interesting but tests are indeed challenging. If going into the medical field, it is all worth it!!!

Dr. Azuma was a decent professor. Quirky and had her "K Moments" but was very helpful and tried her hardest to teach this subject. In my opinon i dont think its possible to teach all of human anatomy WELL in one semester with the amount of time given but Azuma definatly layed out all the basics. The rest is up to the student.

I take poor notes, so I rate her A+ on her lecture outlines(very detailed). KEY: master her lecture outlines, and you've mastered the course. I started out liking her, but ending up disliking her and her rudeness; If I took her for a different course, it would only be because of her lecture outline,and intensity.

She does appear nice but is not. She praises her favorite students and is not nice to those who are not her pets. She makes me sick with the way she gives some people praise and give one-word answer help to questions from students who are not in her good graces.

Everyone seems to hate on Azuma but I thought her class was great. Just make sure you make time to study. Hard tests, easy quizzes. Yes, she's hard... but NOT rude or disrespectful. Respect her and she will respect you. Approach her from a position of sincerity, not like some dumb little entitled jerk who won't be bothered to do the work, and she will do all she can to help you. Dang, people... it's college.

Dr. Azuma teaches probably one of the most intense, and challenging classes I've ever taken In my life. Huge amounts of Information! Do well with Dr. Azuma, and as she tells it, you may know your physiology better than many doctors. I am a slacker. I passed her class. However, I regret not putting more effort because toward the end ,it all comes together, and you realize that you could have a beautiful understanding of physiology. A great teacher, but I found her to not be approachable. I gave up trying to interact with her personality;

Wow, I was shocked to read such negative reviews. My experience with Dr. Azuma was a completely positive one. She was extremely nice and was always happy to answer any questions I had. Staying on top of the material is key in physiology, and Dr. Azuma knew who was doing the work and who wasn't. She was one of my favorite professors.

She loves what shes teaching and makes it much easier to understand than I expected!

I almost did not take Dr Azuma after reading the comments here.I'm glad I took a risk because I love this class! She's definitely not easy but if you are interested in really learning the material she is amazing. Lots of extra credit, great course links, plus she basically gives you the questions on her exams via her practice quizzes.

Dr. Azuma makes you realize biology is more than just memorizing facts in a book. She gives real world examples. She tells you exactly what to study on the exam with practice tests she's made. As long as you post on the threads she assigns and study/memorize the practice exams, this class is cake. She also gives generous extra credit opportunities.

Dr. Azuma is by far the best teacher i have had in any subject combined. she loves giving you extra credit as an option on a weekly basis. granted i am taking her 16 week online hybrid class but i wish all my classes were like hers. i love coming to class and all of her resources are crystal clear and interactive.

VERY HARD. be prepared to have no social life for the semester. try to avoid going to her office hours to review your test - she will point out all the (short) answers you got wrong & asks how you put such a bs answer on the test...very discouraging.5 exams(MC & short answ),1 final, multiple quizzes.def participate if taking her class. it will help

well apparently she sucks for phys. Her bio class is pretty easy. She gives you extra points for breathing, quizzes are straight from what she tells you to study. Has a kind of annoying personality and treats you like your in 5th grade. Easy class if you stay on top of your stuff

I honestly don't understand these reviews. She's tough, yes. But she's really passionate about what she does and teaches, it may seem a bit tedious but it's worth it. Her exams are a bit hard, but her weekly quizzes are directly from what she gives online. She has extra credit opportunities and definitely not impossible to get an A. Take her.

azumas class is not hard whatsoever.Take 20 minutes out of ur WEEK to post a thread. Then the night before the quiz memorize the practice test IT IS THE EXACT SAME THING. same goes for the exams ALL THE QUESTIONS ARE TAKEN FROM THE PRACTICE TEST. she gives bonus points for breathing. if u are responsible and can manage time, u will get an A.

All these bad reviews are from people who are trying to go into healthcare professions yet don't care to put the hard work in to learn their stuff. Azuma is an amazing instructor. Do the work, participate online, hold on tight, and keep up the best you can and you will get an A guaranteed!

This is the easiest class I've ever taken. I am shocked at how few people will actually do the work. All you have to do to get an A in this class is be able to follow instructions. People who don't will fail. People who do will get so much extra credit they can slack off the second half of the semester.

Im really surprised at some of the things I am reading here. Honestly I do not like how her class and points are structured. I am the type of student who studies his ass off and scores well on any test. I averaged an A on the tests and because of the online assignments I ended up with a C. Despite all of this, I feel I learned a lot in this class.

This woman is amazing. Is this challenging class? Certainly. Is she a good instructor? You betcha, baby. Quiz every week. 60 possible quiz questions available online. 10 of those will be on your quiz WORD FOR QUIZ. Do quizzes online and you should be able to get 100% on quizzes. Hw = daily, EASY, and worth A LOT so just do it. Lots of EC available.

Dr. Azuma doesn't get enough credit. Yes, she's kind of a spaz, but she really wants the best for her students. 70% of the exams & 100% of the quizzes are from the practice test and she gives you tons of extra credit! The people who are complaining are extremely lazy and shouldn't go into the health field because they clearly don't care to learn.

How on earth does Dr. Azuma have a 2.6 rating??? I've been at SMC for 3 years and she's honestly one of the best professors I've had. The material(human bio) is difficult but the class itself is fair. LOTS of e.c. Daily hw but easy & worth a lot so helps your grade. Daily quizzes but q's are online! You should be able to get AT LEAST a B if you try

Is this class hard?Definitely!Does it take time and work?Most definitely!!But Dr. A is the type of teacher that if you do your work and dont come off as lazy or in for an easy ride,she is extremely helpful.Her exams and quizzes are 90%practice tests so make sure those are a must!I got an A in the class but it was not easy!Do all extra credit!!

Azuma knows her stuff and she's a great professor. I had her as an instructor for a hybrid course. She made class interesting and goes out of her way to assist you during office hours, she really gets to know your learning strategies. Not much time in class to ask off topic questions relating to material which I would have enjoyed.

I dropped this class mainly because I was lazy. However, if you study really hard for her class then you will get an A. But I really mean it when I say you have to study. Know her quiz questions and read and ask questions. The only negative thing I will say is that she is very intimidating and a bit of a dictator in the classroom.

Her class is hard, no denying that. But she's probably the best science prof. I've had at SMC. Despite the difficulty of the material, this soon became my favorite class this semester. Honestly, Professor Azuma is by far one of the best professors at SMC. She is straightforward with her expectations as well as what she grades you on. She also always gives her students opportunities to raise their grades. Attendance and participation are important. You have to work for your grade, but she is fair and caters to your needs.

Students who give bad feedback to this Professor probably did not try to participate at her class at all. When you are willing to do well in her class the only thing you need to do is to pay attention and to take a few notes. I am a F1-student with English as a second language, but I am still doing great, because she is fun, so is her class.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER! took her for spring. Very well organized, clear about what she expects from us, online assignments, generous grader, exams have many bonus questions, quizzes count as participation points, cares a lot about her students' success. be in class on time, must take notes , just study what she says for her exams.

She really cares about her students. She gave a lot of extra credit. 3 exams total each exam only covered about 6 different chapters even the final! Quizzes every class. Just Study! Bio2 is not too easy so don't blame the poor professor if you don't want to study at all! If you study a little you'll see how much easier she is making it for you!

Take her. Dr. Azuma is very smart and disciplined. She truly cares about her students and helps them with everything. You will learn a lot from her. Don't be lazy, use her pp slides and study them along with your notes and you'll get good grades. Don't be late to class. Listen to everything she says, taking notes is really important in her class.

I took Anat1 last spring and LOVED it. Dr. Kay is by no means an 'easy professor'. She does not GIVE you a grade, you have to earn it. She very clearly outlines the grading criteria for the course. She encourages you to master material and she is always willing to help you during office hours. She also gives great life advice!

Her class is difficult but doable. I didnt expect to be taking that many notes ( 2 notebooks filled) on my own but i did. Her class isnt impossible but it is a challenge. I found her tests to be somewhat easy but sometimes alittle difficult. Most times easy. Shes a great professor talks about her life alot though but very smart.
