This prof. tends to reject original ideas prefering instead to push her own beliefs instructing students what topics to write about and what positions to hold on papers. She does not adhere to the freedom of expression act held by ACC.
She is nice, but has you do a lot of reading. Her tests are difficult.
She is very nice, but she does seem to get annoyed if you dont agree with her opinion on certain topics, and the topics she chooses for papers are not very interesting. She also doesnt accept papers that dont have 110% effort put into them.
Kazel is a very nice and fair professor. She makes her students work hard and earn their grade, but if you work hard is very understanding and helpful I would take another class with her for sure!
If you do not do well on her tests, but great on everything else, you will make a lousy grade. I never missed a day, did all my reading, did not answer her way on tests and barely passed.Take someone else.
I think she's a great teacher and I'll be taking her again next semester. There is a lot of reading and writing to do, but what can you expect out of an english class? I didn't find it that difficult, normally the whole class had to do revisions, but it was normally minor errors.
NOTEWORTHY TEACHER, DONT TELL HER YOU REPUBLICAN THOUGH!!!
Nice lady, but horrible teacher. If you want to pass make sure to agree with her on everything. Also dont take her if your lazy because its very hard to get your papers accepted by her.
Her summer class is very laid-back. There is a lot of reading. Attend all classes,do the reading, stay up with study questions and you'll do good. Summer class test were straight off her study questions. If you have to listen to someone talk alot, atleast she has a pleasant voice.
real nice and very helpful

Great teacher. Makes class interesting and challenging. If you do your reading assignments you'll have fun debating the topics you've read.
great teacher. As long as you do your readings and don't fall behind you will not have trouble. The discussions are interesting. republicans would not enjoy. the discussions are very liberal and diss bush but I dont mind because evrything stated is true and I agree with it all. I like!
if your bad about showing up to class and turning papers in on time, dont take this class. She is super nice and tells you everything you need to get an A.
I loved Mrs. Morgan! She was so nice and sweet! She helped me alot with my papers! I went to her office hours every chance I could get, and she was always willing to help regardless of what she was doing! I got an A--I def. reccommend her!
Nice lady. Doesn't care if you are there for class or not - so if you can write your papers without showing up, it's an easy A. If you need to attend class, she will explain exactly what you need to do for each paper. She makes the class seem harder than it is. If you can write a basic comp 1 paper, it should be an easy A. I would take her again.
Professor Morgan is a challenging professor, and while I was very frustrated with the class in the beginning (English is NOT my favorite subject), now that the semester is almost over I am glad I was in her class. The people leaving comments on here that she is mean/too hard/a bad professor are probably the people who never showed up to class.
she's an AMAZING teacher. interesting, nice, funny, helpful and knows how to clarify excerpts from literature to students. can be challenging but you can always ask for help and get it
She was a good teacher. Kind of challenging, but just showing up to class helps u ALOT on the papers. If u participate, turn in drafts on time, turn in papers on time, and just basically showing that u care about the class and ur grade, it's an easy A.
If you're taking english because its mandatory and not a big deal in your major, AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS! She will make you work. However, if you really want to learn how to right well, go ahead and take her class. Its tedious hard work, but you'll actually get something out of it. And people are right, dont disagree with her if you want an A.
In my experience with Morgan, she was open to creativity and other student's ideas. She never got political with her subject and she graded fairly. She expects college students. Not high school students. Not an easy A, but if you enjoy Literature and English, you'll like her.
Thoroughly enjoyed her class. Took Comp I, Comp II, & World Lit with her. They were all pretty tough but she is a fair teacher and always willing to help students. My views are a complete 180 from hers & I was always able to express my opposing opinions w/o fear of any brow-beating. I also had fun in her class so long as I did the readings.
I took her Comp I, II, and Ancient World through 17th century courses and she is fabulous. She is fair and makes the subject matter very interesting. Dr. Morgan is extremely intelligent and I would take more classes from her if I could. I LOVE her classes.
Great class, would take it again if I needed to for my degree. She is not an "easy" professor, but she is very smart and she makes you think! Didnt write any essays in her english lit course this summer, thats a plus!
She was one of the best instructors I have ever had! She is smart, funny, atractive and knows her stuff. The class was hard at times, but if you showed up to class and did the reading you will be fine. I highly recommend her to any student.
I found her class to be alright b/c I took her self paced course. She was in no means my favorite teacher but she is the kind that likes you to contact her outside of class (it will help your grade). Although if you are worried about your writing skills DONT TAKE HER!!!
Everyone who's saying that Morgan is a bad professor didn't succeed in her class. If you want an easy A, she's not for you. If you're a weak writer, you're going to be tested. 1302 consists of several papers and she's a tough grader. She belongs at a university, not ACC. You'll benefit from this class if you give a damn.
Morgan is a nice person, however is very laid back, doesn't really go over a lot in class. She grades really hard. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone.
She is a hard professor but would help you identify your weakness in writing. I didn't like her first but then realized my writing did get better with her input. Take her if you REALLY want to learn English writing, she's tough but does a fair grading. Almost always available during office hours!
I just took her American Lit class and absolutely loved her! She basically tells you exactly what's going to be on the midterm/final (< and participation only 3 grades) and lets you use notecards if you come to class after the readings with them partially filled out. You have to make a 92 to get an A, and not many people did, but she is so fun!
I took Morgan last semester and she was very hard! My writing skills are decent and I did great in eng 1, however she expects perfection. You will not get any points for trying either. Papers are time consuming and the instructions arent clear. She does however let you submit corrections and that helps out. Take a light class load if you take this.
Professor Morgan is a fantastic English Professor. She expects her students to write like they are in COLLEGE, so some students may struggle if they slept through high school. Her critical analysis papers are challenging, but she is very attentive if you need any clarification or if you are struggling. I would highly recommend her.
Very nice lady but her class is very confusing. She really wants to help students but has trouble stay on track and everyone is confused by the end of class. I did learn alot but had a very hard time doing it. Also grades differently. Each paper gets its own grade. Not suggested if you are a weak writer.
Teacher lack organization, she forget things that are needed to be done in class.
Dr. Morgan is passionate about what she teaches. She challenges the student and strongly suggests participation (which is a portion of the grade). Her office door is open and she is willing to sit down and assist if needed. I truly enjoyed her class and her guidance.
Kazel is not the best English teacher I've had. I had a better chance going back to HS than being with her. She is very opinionated and will tell you like it is. If I had known this about her, I wouldn't have taken her class. She was not clear on instructions and provided no help when i needed it. Many students dropped her class and I should've too
This professor is an extremely passionate teacher HOWEVER she is all over the place in class. Forgets important papers that WE NEED to have appropriate time to get good grades on the assignments. Does not explain things in ways others understand. Has very strict thoughts and is not much for alternative beliefs . BE PREPARED TO WORK WORK WORK!!
Her DL Engl 2327 course is probably the easiest class I have ever taken. She tells you what questions are going to be on the test, if you do the reading (which is minimal) you will get an A. She also curved the first test by an entire letter grade. She's quick to respond to email and very helpful, and I highly recommend this course to anyone.
I thoroughly enjoyed Dr Morgan's class. It was difficult but she was always encouraging. I didn't agree with her stances on any subjects but she let me express myself without fear of reprimand. I had such a fun time that I took two more classes with her. All courses were hard but she was always fair with me.
Dr. Morgan is a great teacher if you decide to actually do your work and pay attention. She is not mean at all if you give her the respect that a human deserves. She's helped me in both this class and in her ENGL-1301 class. She *wants* her students to succeed. Just put in the work and you'll make an A! She even lets you use notes on the midterm.
Amazing teacher, I actually improved my writing skills in this class. She wants the effort though, she doesn't just let you BS your papers like most due. She looks for true content which is a pain in the butt. She is great at what she does. She'll help you the whole way through but you have to put in the effort.
this class is not a walk in the park-you must go to class and pay attention and take notes-everything she tells you to underline will be on the test-if you do this and give her your undivided attention she will grade you easy and extremely fairly-basically what you put into this class will be the grade you DERSEVE!!!!!
No feedback on assignments, lots of readings and questions, uncertainty regarding the tests. very slow at grading and not organized. dont learn much about literature really besides the notes from the textbook publisher. no point in an instructor actually...
Took both composition classes with Morgan 3 years ago. In writing classes at UT I find that I'm one of the top writers and I attribute at least half of that to her classes. My classmates complained about her high expectations, but I guarantee they are better writers today because of them. Take Morgan if you want to increase your writing skills.
This class made me realize just how tough a college course can really be. She was a tough grader, and it took a lot of focus for me to be able to understand what she was talking about most of the time. Lectures are mostly unclear and she asks lots of rhetorical questions and then when the questions aren't rhetorical, gets mad when no one answers.
I like Professor Morgan because she is challenging. You have to work hard for even a C on a paper but I believe this will help my writing to improve significantly. Pay careful attention to exactly what she wants on essays because she gives the clues in class. Do not take her if you don't care or plan to blow off.
Dr. Morgan is incredibly knowledgeable on her subjects. Class was engaging and interesting. I learned a great deal from this class on how to look deeper into literature. However, she does not stick to the syllabus and is vague with her descriptions of assignments. Be sure to ask a lot of questions. She will let you do it over if its not right
Not a horrible professor but I was quite unclear on how to write papers the entire semester. Very tough grader. She will help you but I still struggled with the assignments.
Black board needs to be your best friend if you want to pass this class... the study questions are clear cut and if u know them youll be fine on the test. but miss kazel is halarious, and passionate about the material. Anybody who complains usually just doesn't like to read. Be there, ask questions, don't plagiarize. Lol your good. Only 2 papers:)
Dr. Morgan isn't going to hand you an A just because you show up to class every now and again. You have to read the assignments, care about what you're doing, and participate in class. Her serviced-learning based 1301 course is an excellent way to become a better writer & reader while also becoming an active member in the community.
She is a good person and will help you IF YOU ASK FOR IT.I felt pretty hopeless in her class after failing two essays, but she actually inspired me and got me out of the cynical hole I was digging myself. She wasn't the best for my learning style, but she was willing to help, and recognize potential, which is more than I can say for many professors.
She cares about her students, and just wants to see them succeed. She cares about the subject matter. Her class challenged me and changed me for the better. If you're looking for a handout, bark up another tree. She'll give you what you earn -- the way it should be (ha, rhyme). Best of all, I found a friend in this lady. She's wonderful.
This was the hardest literature class I have ever taken. If you love to read, go for it, but if you're not TURN AWAY. The midterm and final each are worth 35% of your grade (70% TOTAL). I had a 100% with quizzes and DB but ended up barely passing the class with a 70. She cares about her students but she makes you work for your grade.
I took Brit Lit with Professor Kazel online. This was my second Brit LIt course (first one was in person with a different prof), and it's clear that all Lit courses are harder than Comp I or Comp II. That said, I loved the course! The online format was easy to figure out, and I learned a ton. I want to take more online with this prof. Recommended!
First of all, don't take a lit course unless you want to read. If you can handle reading for 2-5 hours per week, then definitely take this online course with Prof Morgan. I learned alot and really enjoyed her attention to detail. There is not as much writing as in other English courses, so plan to spend your study time reading instead. Good prof.
Most stressful B I've ever had. Never got above a C on her papers. I visited her after class 5 times to see where I could improve but found her advise confusing or unhelpful. She may be a good teacher for English majors.
The class is pretty straight forward: read, do the discussion forum, take the quiz. However, mid-term and final are worth 60% total of your grade and are very difficult--cannot take a textbook in so you practically have to have a photographic memory to get a good grade on that. Grades that weren't through Blackboard take her a long time to grade.
The class is already hard, but having her makes it MUCH HARDER! Test are super long and need to take then in 4 hours. All you do is read, read and more reading! She takes forever to get grades back to you. Save yourself and don't take her.
DONT TAKE HER!! Any class has issues but not as many as I have had either her. Takes her months to grade assignments. Only 2 test (midterm and final) that takes 4 hours. Get ready to read and read some more. Just stay away from her classes!!
I differently wouldn't take her again. Email her for help and it took her 3 weeks to get back to me and by that time we were already own to something else. You basically have to learn on your own. I wouldn't take again!
Doesn't give tests, very opinionated, not a fan of Trump, very blunt, she tells it how it is. 5 papers, no tests, doesn't comply with the ACC rule if you miss 3 classes you drop letter grades, as long as you're not skipping most classes it's okay. Knows how to make English fun and compare it to real life. Mostly uses modern articles for reading.
She has many excuses as to why she didn't get your test graded on time. She is late in responding to students and her tests are ridiculous. I didn't learn much from her course because it was all over the place. It would have been better if she focused on one area that we could learn well. She may be a nice person, but her work ethic isn't the best
Good teacher to start off your freshman Comp I class. The class only consists of five papers, which she will grade easily if you put in a good amount of effort. She encourages participation both in class discussion and in the readings. While she is opinionated, I never felt like she put down others thoughts. Overall, it was an enjoyable class.
So much to read in so little time. Once you have access to the syllabus just start reading and dont stop. Takes her awhile to grade assignments and there is only a midterm and a final. The exams are difficult and EXTREMELY detailed so make sure to read, read, read, and read some more. If you are a busy person I would NOT recommend her course.
I wish I would have looked here before I took her class. She took nearly three weeks to grade my midterm, yet she expects her students to be on time with homework and if you are late you get a 0. Gave me an F on my final, probably because I called her out on being so late with the midterm. I would NOT recommend anyone to take her class.
I took professor Morgan's 8-week online class for Brit Lit II. This is NOT one of the easier classes. Especially for people who don't like to read or write. Personally, although it was extremely time consuming, I enjoyed this class. However, I am also an english major and a HUGE literature buff. Definitely not for those who find english hard.
Very very tough grader. Shes always rude and always angry coming into class. She made the class a lot harder than needed. When compared to other comp classes they were much easier than the one i took with Prof morgan. Would NOT recommend her to anyone. Would rate 0/10
Dr. Morgan was always cordial to me and responded quickly to my emails. Despite her email etiquette, she is not very organized at all. I found that the course curriculum was made infinitely harder just by my struggling to find due dates and assignments. The coursework was easy, but the professor's disorganization was damning. Avoid if possible.
Dr. Morgan is an enthusiastic and and thoughtful instructor. She went above and beyond to help me understand how to write a better paper. I recommend her because she is truly in inspiration. She inspired to be the best writer I can be.
Professor Morgan is by far my favorite of all the professors I've had at ACC thus far. While she does make you work for your grade, she is more than fair and is always happy to help. Anyone who says otherwise is probably looking for a handout, and excuse me, but you're not going to get too far in life if that's what you're expecting out of college.
Dr. Morgans class was truly a great experience. She cares a great deal about us as students and wants to make sure everyone fully grasps the curriculum. I appreciated her attention to detail and the level of freedom she gives the class to speak up and have a real dialogue about whats being covered week to week.
Amazing prof. Will make you fall in love with literature.
Always willing to help during office hours. Thought-provoking lectures.
I had a lot of fun in this class. She has very interesting ideas and ways to interpret the reading material.
I enjoyed her class. We read Toni Morrison's The Bluest Eye in this class and wrote argumentative essays using the book. I loved the class discussions. Dr. Morgan was always available to answer questions during office hours or after class. In the end, my appreciation for literature deepened. I became a better writer and taught college English.
I took her British Literature class at ACC. If you go to class, participate, do your work and study, you will get a good grade. She was always available outside of class if I needed any help. I had a wonderful time in her class and everyone enjoyed her and the readings. We even had a couple of fun projects in her class that semester!
It's a lot of reading, but it's to be expected. Do not get behind. You have reading assignments due every single week and sometimes you have to read 2-3 short stories in a week. Discussion boards or/and quizzes are due every week. It's in the syllabus so if you follow along you'll be fine. Two exams which are hard. Know the stories & characters.
Dr. Kazel Morgan's teaching style is a great match for those who wish to improve their writing and enjoy analyzing great stories. She is an exceptional teacher whose caring attitude encourages students to do their best work. If you apply her constructive feedback on your essays, everything will have clicked for you by the end of the course.
I have had my fair share of English professors, all of them wonderful in their own right, Dr. Morgan being no different. She emphasizes analytical writing, more so than I had previously done, to make you really look at the text, but she keeps class fun and engaging with her quirkiness, sarcasm, and humorous tangents. I would highly recommend her.
I feel like reading is fun again. Great stories. Do the readings/homework so you have something to talk about in class. Fun and enlightening course!
Very easy to follow lectures, if you do the readings you will never have a problem, is very approachable when it comes to help with any writing assignments
Prof Morgan genuinely cares about her students success. This does not mean you wont have to work. Make sure to apply her feedback. She gives clear and comprehensive feedback on your paper and gives you the option of rewritting for a higher grade. Morgans course encourages students to enjoy writing; and the short stories are amazing!
This Professor was one of my favorite of this semester no doubt. She is funny and very flexible when it comes to grading and time management so long as she sees you are giving the effort to actually try. The class was very fun to attend and also very inspiring as well. Great class and professor with an enjoyable semester.
Great Teacher. Weekly untimed (written and multiple choice) quizes and discussions which get harder. Expect to read roughly 30-50+ pages every week. Only 2 Tests (not timed) which are very hard. Tests cover about 14 stories Written Test answers come from bonus reading material which you must study to get right must recite characters and excerpts.
Prof. Morgan is amazing! Being an English major I am very picky on whose literature classes I take, but I will pick up any class Prof. Morgan teaches. If you show up, do the reading and participate by adding to the class conversation the class is a lot of fun. Prof is willing to work with you should something come up! 10/10 would highly recommend!
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS! Her exams are RIDICULOUSLY difficult. and she only gives two, each for 30% of your grade. You'll be in the testing center for at least 4 hours, and she tells you that too. You have to read A LOT, and for the exam she makes you identify single passages from each text and write detailed responses about it. Trust me. DON'T DO IT
Didn't take other peoples advice. I repeat DO NOT TAKE unless you are English major, and maybe only taking 2 classes. This class will leave you with no time for your other classes(your other grades will suffer regardless of time management)Professor is nice, BUT not exaggerating get ready to read over 100 pages each week(very tiny long text pages)
Didnt stand out in anyway to me. Very average class. Not hard to pass, but requires effort.
Very accommodating with assignments so long as you communicate with her. She made final optional due to the stress of Covid. The work isn't hard if you make an effort to do the readings. Expect to read 50-150 pages per week. Time management is key here. I took this class while working and going to school full time and it was more than doable.
Easily the worst class I've taken. The readings were boring and 150 pages+/week. Leaving a late review, because in times of COVID with online only learning this review can save someone. Her tests were so difficult and specific, but that was when we took it in testing centers. The "sample" questions were way easier than her actual tests. Avoid.
Do not take this class unless you are an English Major. She makes the class extremely difficult and the tests are insane. She expects you to memorize pieces of the hundreds of readings she gives you without any actual help, along with dates. The "study" questions are just as difficult and are no actual help to the test. Would NOT recommend.
This class was definitely difficult; however, Ms. Morgan really cares about her students. As long as you ask for help, she is willing to help you. I was on track to fail until I reached out and she helped me get back on track to pass. As someone who doesnt read, YouTube analysis videos are your friend. (American literature 2 online 8 weeks)
Professor Morgan is a very helpful professor who is super understanding. Her class challenges you to grow in skill. She is very kind and will help you with any struggle you may have during her course. There is a reasonable amount of reading that contributes to better understanding in order to complete your papers.
Taking class due to needing the credit, but there is too much reading material. Expects you to read around 100 or more textbook pages a week as if this is the only class you are taking. Not worth the GPA drop, focus on classes that matter.
Prof. Morgan was one of my harder professors I have had. You need to be prepared for every class. Lots of reading. I was set to probably fail her class but I went to her office hours and she did help me get back on track. If she sees you are putting in effort she will pass you. Tough grader on papers. Participation matters in this class.
This class is not for the weak. We had to read a lot and the exams are fully written: fill in the blank short answer and essay. If you skip lecture, you won't pass. However, she is very nice and accessible. She tries to keep the lectures on topic. I cannot emphasize enough that READING IS IMPORTANT, and there is a lot to keep up with.
She was always available outside class. Class wasn't difficult but reading and short writing assignments were mandatory to pass. You have to write how she likes it or else you get a bad score.
Professor Morgan was my first ever professor, I didn't know of anything better until my 1302 class. We were assigned a short writing assignment everyday, and if you missed one it could not be made up. She is for sure a tough grader and doesn't give much instruction. She also did not help me when I would reach out via email.
