Very good professor. Easy to approach if you need help and always willing to help when asked. Does a study group for those who want and need help on her own time. The homework is easy but its just a lot to work through. Sometimes typos make things slightly difficult to understand. But prof. Kazumi is a wonderful recently new teacher to ivc.

Kuzumi is an excellent teacher. She is very thorough. I enjoyed the class very much. I would recommend this class to anyone that wants to learn algebra.

This was the second time in this class. I received a D from another teacher. Needless to say my confidence was shattered. Mrs Horikawa brought my confidence back up and took the time to help me after class. I went from a D to an A. I can not say enough good things about her!

Ms. H is very sweet! I went back to get AA after decades. I had no previous algebra and had to take 351. The class goes very quickly. Prof. H is too cute! I have to admit, I did have trouble understanding her when it came to her accent at times. She gives you tons of extra credit, and is even pretty lenient when it comes to homework. Make sure you if you miss a class, or are sick, you communicate with her! Overall, she cares about her students success and is super sweet!

As someone who is terrible at math, she makes it easy. she has a thick japanese accent but is understandable, she's very funny but do NOT get on her bad side. Lots of homework, due once a week. extra credit opportunities almost every week. exams are worth a lot of points. she will keep you till the last minute.

Professor Horikawa is my favorite math teacher. I never took algebra in high school and needed to learn the old fashion way, using pencil and lots of paper. She makes students hand write the question in blue ink and answer in pencil. She is excellent for math challenged or first timers, she is positive, happy, and genuinly cares.

Very understanding and will change due dates. Homework worksheets are posted as group discussions. You dont need to buy a book/ebook as she posts her own note sheets.

I took it in the summer, and she makes her own notes so you don't need a textbook. I thought it would be fast paced but she goes through everything with patience. There are 4 tests and final, with 6 quizzes. Just do the homework and exams and put in effort, and if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask. She's very nice, you'll love her!

Professor Horikawa lectures can be a little boring sometimes but they are really clear and easy to understand. She gives a lot of extra credit that will help you boost your grade! Most of her exams are very similar to the review she provides. She also lets you use notes on the exams so as long as you have the formulas written down you're good.

Pro. Horikawa is very kind, and sweet. Her test is straight from homework, and the quiz gets 3 attempts. She'll drop the lowest score, but still give an extra 20 points. Prof. Horikawa is not a racist. If you don't speak up with problems, and not open up, she won't understand your needs. I agree that some students may have difficult learning the subject itself. But, she has provided extra credit (study guides) and 10 day excuse to turn in assignments late.

The only thing that was a bit challenging is she would move at a fast pace when teaching but is always willing to go over things again and do a deeper explanation to help you understand.

Hilarious and amazing professor! She is extremely fair in her grading; there are many extra credit opportunities, and the tests are incredibly fair. Prf Horikawa uses clear instructional tools/email to communicate and overcome accent which is rarely an obstacle. Math is universal language and getting gradually from simple to advanced doesn't require much verbal explanation. I highly recommend classes with Prf Horikawa because she takes time to help understand and pass the class.

Don't get me wrong, Professor Horikawa is super sweet and easy to talk to. However, her curriculum can get a bit confusing at times. Its not your average, we do curriculum then we do the test, its instead, chp. 1,2,3,4 then we do chapter test for 1& 2 like 2 weeks after learning it. She also goes super fast and I cannot keep up.

This professor is by far one of the best professors at Irvine Valley College. Her lectures are very good and really help explain the material. Exams are very well written and she always gives some sort of practice test. She also gives lots of extra credit with all of her practice exams counting as extra credit.

Kazumi Horikawa is a great professor who truly cares about her students. All homework and quizzes are online and can be turned in up to 10 days late, which makes the class easy to manage. This professor is literally the best professor I had ever had in any college, she is very generous with extra credit, this class is an easy A. One exam is dropped and gave a lot of extra credit opportunity that's worth at least one exam. And all her exams are fairly easy as well. Take this class if you want to pass, she is so sweet.

Horikawa's teaching style reminds me of an elementary school's teacher's, and it helps me a lot! (I am a visual and slow learner.) She teaches in a way where it's easier for anyone to process. Very nice teacher. There is a slight language barrier but even if you dont understand something its okay because she gives so much extra credit.

Professor Kazumi is very knowledgeable and explains statistical concepts in a clear, approachable way. She explained the material clearly, provided helpful examples.Her teaching style made a challenging subject much easier to understand. I totally understand the lecture when she is teaching.

This was one of the most caring professors I've had, she offers so much extra credit and try's to make it where you understand the course if you ask questions

BEST PROF EVER!! From the beginning of class, she has been only uplifting and kind to everybody. If you ever have questions, she is always happy to answer and will take extra time out of her day to make sure she can explain everything to you perfectly. She is brilliant, kind, and an excellent professor. Tons of extra credit and very flexible!!!

If your'e going to take stats then take professor Horikawa! She is so thoughtful and caring, and her class is fun and she makes a difficult subject easy to understand. She teaches with the understanding that college is difficult, so she does everything she can to make our lives easier and keep our grades higher.

Professor Horikawa is a great teacher. Statistics is a challenging class, but Professor Horikawa does a great job at making it understandable. She is so kind, caring, and patient, and puts in so much effort both inside and outside of the classroom to make sure her students succeed. She also offers a lot of extra credit, so take advantage of that.

As a person who used to get C's in high school math, I was really scared that I would get similar grades in college. Professor Horikawa did an amazing job at teaching, and has so many extra credit opportunities. She truly wants to see you succeed and always finds ways to make class fun. I would take her for every math course if I could!

I heard people say it's hard to understand her lecturers because of her accent, but I can understand her just fine, and she explains everything in detail. If you don't understand, you can always ask her to slow down or explain again, and she is happy to, or you can go to her office hours after class. She wants every student to succeed.

Professor Horikawa is genuinely one of the most caring professors I've had. She's patient, supportive, and never makes you feel bad for asking questions. Her lectures are clear, organized, and she explains concepts step-by-step, You can tell she really wants her students to succeed, and that was honestly inspiring.

I highly recommend taking the statistics course. The lectures and notes were easy for me to understand, and I felt that the homework really prepared me well for the quizzes and exams. There are lots of opportunities in this class to get additional practice, like study guides, and it made preparing much easier for me.

She is such an amazing professor. This is the only math class that i've actually understood, not to mention she is also the most sweet and caring person ever! I would 100% take her class again.

This professor is awesome. Her class is super easy if you actually study, and she really cares about her students and their grades. She gives extra credit, explains stuff well, and the accent thing is exaggerated. Just pay attention and you'll get everything. She's fun, inspiring, and I'd recommend her class to anyone taking stats.

An absolute angel of a professor for how she genuinely cares about her students and always finds ways to support them. She will give you tons of extra credit opprotunites that won't only help boost your grade, but it's perfect preparation for her exams. I'm not a fan of math but she made it enjoyable to be in class and learn!

I highly recommend this course for stats. The lectures and notes make the topics easy to understand and the homework is not difficult. Lots of review "pop quizzes" in class that aren't worth any points but great review and online quizzes with 2 attempts. There are also tons of extra credit opportunities which I would recommend taking advantage of.

Professor Horikawa is a great professor to take, especially if you struggle with math! You get SOO much extra credit, and her study guides are the same as the exams; some problems aren't even tweaked to be any different. Just study what she gives, and the MOST IMPORTANT thing is to LEARN THE THEORY! It will help you a lot to understand the material
