As someone who despises any type of history, I genuinely enjoyed the class. The tests are multiple choice, the final consists of multiple choice and an essay. Heavy use of the text book, so be sure to read the chapter before hand, as the class goes over it. Use the very helpful study guide she gives you, should be an easy A. Was for me!

I loved this class. I took the 8 week VCAP class fall2011 and learned so much. I was taking the class because it was the only class I could add. One of the best decision I ever made! She is organized, helpful, and knows her stuff. I was always excited to go to class and learn more. Make sure you do the reading and take notes.

A great teacher who is extremely intelligent and clear. I got an A in her class and I worked my butt off for it. She doesn't play favorites and she will treat you like a college student and not a kid. She is very nice and easy to talk to and she will go out of her way to help you pass her class. She also is very funny and eye candy for men.

The class is pretty easy as long as you study. Does give extra credit opportunities if the class asks for it. Her class is composed of 3 writing assignments, 3 exams, they get longer each time but still fairly easy. As long as you pay attention in class and go over your notes and read the material, you will pass with an A or B.

To those who say this class is easy DO NOT believe them. Mrs. Morris don't play when it comes to preparation to pass her class. Believe you me, I got a B but I worked REALLY hard for it. Wow. Professor Morris is one of the best teacher I ever had. The subj is not interesting at first,sounds very boring but if she will be your professor, everything is fun. I work nights and get easily bored at class but I stayed awake the whole time. She takes attendance, doesnt like students talking while she talks, gives extra credits. AMAZING!

Being an immigrant and knowing nothing of US History, I was expecting that this class would be very difficult. But she made it so interesting. There's alot of reading but if you do it, you will definitely get an A. She also gives extra points. The thing I like the most about her is she curves the test. Take her! Professor Morris's class was my favorite this semester. I may be bias because I enjoy Afro Am classes, but even if you're taking the class for a requirement I believe you'll enjoy it. Her lectures are easy to understand and the study guides are exactly what's on the test. She even defines the terms on the study guide in class.

Great teacher. Not too hard but tests can be difficult if you are not there in class and or do not study. Her study guides can be cryptic and her questions on the test are not always easy but its still a great class. No homework really. One paper to write and maybe 3 tests all semester. Loved learning more about African american history.

What should be the standard for any instructor, is she. Awesome class. The history is dark but she is honest and gentle with her description. Not to mention funny. I started off with a okay grade and after putting in that extra effort, I got what I deserved. This instructor isn't out to fail students. She's loved by all.

SHE IS SO AMAAAZING! BEST PROF AT LAVC. I surprisingly received an A. Previous history classes help. Clear lectures, clear study guides. I would look forward to going to her class for AA04. She is so brilliant with all of her degrees but is still down to earth and real. A little intimidating at first, but 5 stars in every aspect! LOVE YOU MS MORRIS

She has clear lectures, she goes off topic A LOT. Tests are a little tricky, but its the vocab that she uses. She has a PhD so her level is a little higher. YOU WILL NEED the textbook. Its not just memorizing, you have to understand the material 100%

The best history class I've ever taken, and I'm a history major. The material really makes you think, but the actual class is not too hard. Prof. Morris gives every chance to succeed: study guides, extra credit, straightforward tests. I didn't use the book at all. Morris is too good for community college, take her before she gets hired at Harvard!

She does not overwhelm students with work, and you can easily pull an A in her class, while still learning A LOT about Afro Am history. I was excited to take her class due to the good reviews she has. I was not let down; she's an amazing professor and really loves the topic she teaches. She is a great professor, do not get me wrong BUT... make sure you are among her favorites because she will pass you with an A, regardless if you deserved it or not. Dr. Morris is great! I took her for both AA Studies 004 and 005. Her tests can be head scratchers, so definitely make sure you read and study, but she gives plenty of extra credit and detailed study guides for the midterm and final. She sets you up to succeed. I only wish my schedule would allow me to take her for AA Studies 20.

She teaches what is in the book and yes it is much but as long as you pay attention and she'll help you what to focus on you will pass. First year of college and definitely was my favorite class and learned so much from her.

One of the best professors out there! Im an art major but she made her class one of my favorites of all time. Lectures cover almost all of the tests, but be sure to read the book. Extra credit opportunities and the homework is based on videos in class, so show up for that. Shes incredible and hilarious, wish I could take her again!!

Online accelerated Afro AM 4 class. Very simple class. 13 Discussions (you read a couple of pages and discuss about the topic), 1 essay (allows you to choose your topic), 2 MC quizzes, 1 midterm & 1 final. Do your work, easy A.

Dr. Morris is a great professor! She teaches well and is always willing to help. There's a lot of reading for this class so be prepared, but the discussions are pretty simple and straightforward and she gives plenty of extra credit in case any students are struggling a little bit.

As long as you show up to class and pay attention and take notes, you should be good. Her lectures are really interesting, straight-forward, and she makes sure you really understand the material. Really down to earth and charismatic but beware, you have to do your part too and keep up with every class.

Great to take to learn about the literature, spirituals, and history of African Americans. In this class, you will have 2 essays, weekly reading assignments, and a midterm and final that are similar--identify 5 vocab terms and 5 passages from the assigned readings. Great class and Dr. Morris is very understanding and helps students on the HW.

There are 7 worksheets (not that hard), 2 essays, a midterm and a final (which are the same thing). She's very helpful with questions and really wants you to pass. Overall, do yourselves a favor and take this professor.

Short semester online. I enjoyed her class and found that while doing the assignments was not hard they were interesting topics Afro American history is one of the most interesting topics imo. Recommend buying the pdf of the text book for 20 bucks rather than renting for 40. She was awesome!

One of my favorite professors I've had so far. The lectures were super interesting and I was constantly learning something new. Excited to take her classes again! This class was also super accessible since the lectures were recorded and she encouraged students to help each other.

She is great, the class is not that hard and I took it as an honor student. Online without zoom, we had weekly discussions, 2-3 quizzes, one final project. She is caring, she understands that we are students and have other classes and our own life.
