Dr. Brynildsen is the nicest professor ever! While her exams are comprehensive, she provides you with the necessary info to do well (always gives a study guide and usually does an in class review!). She does 4 exams, about 60 multiple choice questions each & she curves. You have to write 1 literature review paper (4 pages) and don't need to read

Gives notes prior to class so it is easy to follow along. She is reasonable with tests that have awkwardly worded questions as long as there is a justification. Papers' grading criteria unclear. She fosters discussion and is respectful. But it is mostly another women and gender studies class.

Her lectures are boring yet you REALLY need to pay attention to her slides in order to get the information. Be ready to know the tiniest details about every experiment for the exams. However, she gives plenty of extra credit opportunities and you can tell she wants her students to pass. Very sweet woman

She answered any questions and magically remembered people's names even though there were 200 students. The tests really come from the lectures (so go). I got an A without opening the textbook. Extra credit, too.

Really nice professor. Go to class- she gives clicker points for attendance and also take good notes because lecture material is the majority of the test. Tests can get tricky, but they are not awful as long as you review the study guides. Offers extra credit too which is nice!

She gives out a study guide that is basically the lectures, so make sure you go to class for her examples she explains things very well. I wish that Keiko would be my all of my Psych classes. Honestly if you go to every lecture, do the readings, and review her study guide, this should be an easy A. 5% of grade is by showing up and doing a clicker question (EASY). Tests are mostly from lectures so listen and take good notes. Also do research participation EARLY to get it over with.

She is amazing and so are her lectures. She gives many interesting examples for terms. There are 3 midterms and one final but she provides study guides and other materials for all of them which are really helpful! Just study them and you'll be fine. Not an easy A class but an easy B class.

Psych 101 already being a very easy course, Dr. Brynildsen makes it that much easier. She has clear powerpoint slides online and provides a study guide before every exam/final. She even curves the exams slightly (5 points). Beware because each exam (75 mc questions) she puts 5 questions straight out of the textbook which wasnt discussed in class

Definitely the best professor I've had this semester. Gen Psych is a large lecture class but the information is explained thoroughly by her and she's extremely sweet and relatable. I loved going to class. The exams were all memorization and applications of topics, MAKE SURE YOU STUDY. Clicker questions are done, so make sure you go to class.

Extremely easy class. Tests are almost entirely based on material covered in class. Print out the powerpoints before class and write down what she talks about. Study guides are handed out before tests and have almost everything you need to know on them. Show up to class, take some notes, and fill out the study guide for an easy A.

This class was one of the easiest yet most informative I've taken before. Prof. Brynildsen wants her students to succeed, & she gives a detailed study guide before each exam. Although she & others say her tests are entirely lecture based, if you just know the study guides well, you'll ace every test. I stopped going to class and still got high 90s.

Her class was one of the few I actually enjoyed going to and studying for. Her lectures are really easy to follow and she elaborates on what's on them. She also gives you a study guide for each exam and as long as you answer them thoroughly and read it once, you'll be good. The first exam is weighted less and clicker questions for attendance.

I took this class my second semester of freshman year and it's so easy! Keiko is so caring about all of her students she's the type to learn everyone's names and address any questions. She uploads all of her slides, there's a pdf version of the textbook (you should read), and includes study guides for exams. Her lectures are very helpful as well.

Class consists of 3 exams, 1 cumulative final and one small pamphlet project 10%. Pay attention to everything that she says, take clear notes about the studies, use the textbook for the sections she says to focus on (she does ask about them on the exam) and you should do really well.

3 noncumulative exams (specific questions about studies covered in lecture and textbook sections) and a Cumulative final (broad questions). 10 percent of grade from short Intervention project. Her lecture very interesting and she is one the nicest professors i have every had. 3 pt EC assignments given for each of the 3 noncumulative exams.

Professor Brynildsen was one of the best professors I've ever come across. Her class was easy, no homework, very interesting lectures. You don't have to go to lectures or really study much to get an A, but I felt bad not going to class because she was such a lovely lady. As all of the ratings have shown, Psych 101 is an intro class, so Prof. Brynildsen makes sure to TEACH it like an intro class. Appropriate level material with simple tests and easy clicker participation. She is a very nice person too, so taking her will not be an issue if you need personal help. If you major in psych, just focus more when studying!

Go to class and take good notes. It's not really an easy A unless you do all the work such as the study guides etc. Also, the terminology is a lot to handle so really get familiar with everything. It's an easy A if you do the work, but if you don't, then just don't take the class. Other than that, the professor herself is lovely and caring.

Everyone is different, but I thought I could get an A from skipping class. I was wrong. I got 80s on the first 2 exams so I started attending class. Got a 99 on exam 3. Almost 100% certain I got a high A on the final too now. Exams are definitely easy if you understand the concepts well and imo goto class. She further explains things in class.

Brynildsen is probably one of the best professors at Rutgers. Her lectures were super easy to understand and made confusing topics less tricky by giving lots of examples. She made gen psych interesting and showed a real interest in teaching. Class is an easy A if you know your stuff for the exams.

Professor Brynildsen is a great teacher and I learned a great deal from the class. Her lectures were usually heavy with material but she provided great examples and really made sure students were able to understand everything. Getting a good grade requires showing up for lectures and taking good notes, while prepping a couple hours for each exam.

She is actually so caring! She wants everyone to do well! By going to her class, you can finish her exams really quick! I think its important to goto class because she further explains studies and terms that she asks on the exam! Goto class for that A! I struggled in the beginning but I did exceptional on the last 2 exams and got that A!

She is such a nice person and incredibly helpful. Her study guides are the key to success for the exams. Definitely read the recommended portions of the book though as they can surprise you on the exam. If you miss something in lecture you can just email her and she is incredibly helpful. Put a decent effort into studying and you will succeed.

iClicker determines attendance, small part of the grade though. Just show up for the iClicker and dip. Find the textbook PDF online, it's everywhere. She posts the lecture slides online, just copy those for notes and use a Quizlet and your set. If you're genuinely interested, her lectures are actually interesting when you listen. Nice lady :)

Really good at simple, engaging, funny explanations. Flexible, caring, will work with you if you just talk to her. In a 300+ lecture, makes sure to remember students names! Really responsive, caring. Talk to her if having a hard time in class, life, etc. Because depression, I almost dropped the class 3 times but despite struggle, ended with an A!

Not your typical "easy" psych class, but Bryndilsen makes it doable if you put in the work and show up to class. Lecture slides are given, but I highly suggest you go to lecture to get the precise details about every experiment. This is not an easy class. 3 midterms with 70 questions each and the final is cumulative with 150 questions. You have to memorize and understand a lot of the material. Brynildsen is AMAZING. She is so sweet and cares a lot for her students. Definitely reach out to her if you have any questions.

Prof Brynildsen delievers insightful lectures which have life-changing info. I would reccomend you save her slides on your PC b4 class and annotate on them during lecture. Memorize and understand the concepts of sldies and you are golden. She gives plenty of EC oppurtunities w/ 2 assignments. Also, she is very helpful in office hours.

One of the best professors I could ask to fulfill my SAS Core Req. She thoroughly explains the concepts and answers all questions. Although Hawkes has a lot of reading, just watch the video and you'll pass the "quizzes." Very polite and was glad to be apart of her class.

She's a great professor. She explains everything. Exams are pretty simple and straightforward if you study. Do all the homework. Study the week before exams and you'll be fine.

Although attendance isn't mandatory, I strongly suggest showing up. Her lectures are fun as well the examples and videos she gives in her lectures that aren't in the powerpoints really help when studying for the midterms and final since the questions are scenario-based rather than simply remembering definitions.

Best teacher at Rutgers. Psychology isn't a hard class to begin with but she makes it even easier. She teaches by reading off slides and it can get a little boring but she does try to make it less boring by using Kahoot and videos. Tests are extremely easy and she always posts study guides for them. Very kind, caring, and easily the best.

The topic is interesting to begin with but Brynildsen is an amazing professor. She is caring and will respond to any questions, she tells interesting information and helps you remember the information. She even chose a cheaper textbook which had an amazing online practice portion. Definitely great.

Professor Brynildsen is a real gem of a teacher. Definitely the best professor I've had so far at Rutgers. She tries to make lectures interesting and although psychology may seem easy, you have to put in work to get an A in the class. It's a lot of memorization and application to real world situations so if you're down to work, then 10/10 class!

WOW. This professor I took my first semester in college and I loved her class. I wish she can read this but she is amazing and everything she is doing, she's doing right. Amazing for psych 101 take her if you can. She can explain things very well. You don't have to go to lecture but I found it easier to study for the exams if I went because she explains the powerpoints in detail for the exam.

If you ask her a question that she does not know the answer to, she will write it down and will answer it the next class, which is really a direct reflection of her dedication. She is absolutely lovely. She is not too hard for health psych, but it is a lot of material and the class is exam heavy.

She is very knowledgeable of the material, and if a question is ever asked that she does not know the answer to, she will write it down and get back to you next class. She gives extra credit and there are quizzes worth 20% of your grade as well as an intervention assignment worth 15%. Exams are all open notes, but prepare to study! Would take her again.

By far one of my favorite professors at Rutgers. I took her for Gen Psych and Health Psych, and she always took the time to learn and address students by their names. For both classes I would go to lecture about half the time, but was able to use her posted notes. All her exam material comes from her slides, so getting an A is easy if do your work.

If you read the chapters and watch the lectures you will do well in the class. So, I took this class online for the fall 2020 semester and Prof. Brynildsen is now my favorite teacher in RU so far. She was caring and always enthusiastic. Very passable class, not much homework BUT it is VERY useful to learn the material. Basically, if you have ANY interest in psychology and pay attention to the lectures, this is a dream class.

Good teacher and the course is incredibly easy. Rarely attended lectures and studied her study guide the night before and always did great. Her lectures are good but she sometimes gets off-topic but overall good teacher.

She's an amazing lecturer and this class was so interesting to me but even though everything was open book, the highest I ever got on an exam was a B+. Her exams are worded poorly. AMAZING!!! I've never had a more empathetic professor. She made students feel heard, appreciated and respected throughout the entire semester. The grade is split between several exams and assignments (plenty of opportunities to raise your grade). Pretty easy overall. If you show up to lecture, the exams will be pretty straightforward.

SUPER NICE. I loved her! had a few online quizzes due every weekend (all on quizlet). I didnt go to any class or read any of the textbook at all and managed to pass. Exams are 80 min for 60 ?s but it wasnt too bad honestly. Such a caring and funny professor highly recommend her!

Overall, she is a nice and easy-going professor but the exam is a little bit hard and overwhelming for those are not Psychology majors. The most difficult part is the exam, there are 4 exams. Each exam has approx. 65 question, and the final has nearly 130 questions and she made us to take the final for 3 hours. But the hw and lectures are good.

Easy A, take her 100%. All the exams were open book so I literally watched the lectures for each test at 2x speed like 4 hours before the exam, did the 40 practice questions and took the test. Got at least a 95% on each exam including the final. Toooooo easy.

Professor Brynildson is arguably one of the best teachers I've ever had. She's charismatic and goes slow so her students understand the material. She give questions through polls so you understand how the material relates to a situation. There's only 3 exams, a final, and a online textbook quiz every week that's graded on completion. Brynildsen is a great intro Professor. Everything you need to do is outlined from day 1. So long as you go to class you'll be fine. She also provides comprehensive study guides for exams. You really can't get much better than her for a 101 Professor.

Aside from all the memorization and application this course requires, Professor Brynildsen was very helpful in teaching us what we need to know for exams. By far the best psychology professor at Rutgers. Her lectures are very easy and interesting. What she teaches in lecture is exactly what is on the exams. She also makes study guides for exams and has multiple exam review sessions beforehand to help prepare you so I personally never found exams to be hard.

Study guides are basically an outline for the exams, which helps memorize in a subtle way and line up with her lectures perfectly so attend lectures for an easy A. Prof Brynildsen is one of the most caring teacher you will ever have. I would not necessarily say this class is an easy A. It takes time, effort, and studying. BUT what I will say is you WILL actually LEARN. This class is my lowest grade (B+ to low A depending on this final exam lol) yet I am coming out of this course with so much knowledge.

A solid choice for psych

I had her for health psych during summer session and I liked it! She's a very sweet professor who seems genuinely interested in what her students have to say. She curved the exams which helped bump up my grade. Her slides don't include too much so you really have to take notes as she's lecturing. But she's great, would definitely take her again!

Zero complaints. Exams were straight and upto the point, very patient and thorough with teaching. Study her practice questions and do quizlet. Psych requires studying but an interesting class.

If you have to take Gen Psych definitely take it with Prof Brynildsen. Her lectures are concise and organized. She and the TAs prepare study guides + practice exams to help you review. The midterm is broken into 3 exams rather than one, and is all multiple choice. As long as you show up to class + take good notes, you're set.

Great professor, but only grading off of exams is crazy, and they're not open note! Get ready to remember everything. Not everyone learns just from lecture slides! Definitely needs to change her grading and assignment style.

Considering the fact that there is a lot of material to go over, she always finds time for any questions or concerns. Attendance is not required due to online slides and there are weekly quizzes/readings, three midterms, and a final exam. Making example questions about the topic and quizzing yourself will definitely help with these exams.

The final grade was just homework (completion) and 3 exams. All of the lectures are posted online. To be honest, you can basically take this class asynchronous and just show up for exams. Brynildsen herself is great. She's accessible, easy to talk to, and will really try to help you understand psych. Highly recommend.

This class was fun to take for my first sem. She went around each class trying to learn each students name even though we were in a large lecture hall with around 200 students. Exam heavy. As long as you study, you should be fine. She provides practice questions and a study guide, and has a TA review. I recommend taking her.

the professor gives out very detailed and comprehensive study guides before every exam, along with a list of practice questions that are very similar to exam questions. Easy A if you just use those. Prof is very nice

Professor Brynlindsen would answer any and all questions to the best of her ability. Exams are around 70 questions, in depth study guides and TA review sessions. Exams are very situational based so make sure you understand each and every term. She is very available inside and outside of class.

Your grade is based off of weekly quizzes (unlimited attempts), 3 exams, and a final. If you want a decent grade, fill out the study guide, do the practice questions, and go to the TA review sessions. There are also 1 extra credit opportunity for each exam. The powerpoints are kind of bare but she explains the content really well during lecture.

Dr. Brynildsen is amazing! She is so good at answering questions and making the material easy to understand. Study the terms she gives you on the study guides, do the practice questions, review the quizzes, look at the TA review material, and review the Menti questions and you will do well on the exams. I would take her again in a heartbeat!

Does her absolute best to answer any and all questions and no surprises on the exams!

Prof Brynildsen is super nice and passionate, and she takes the time to learn many of her student's names. She provides practice exams. If you are a good test taker and study, you will do very well in this class.

Professor Brynildsen is a very good lecturer. She makes sure to explain if anything is unclear and always asks if there are questions. The tests are easy if you study the notes as they understand the concepts taught rather than just memorizing the terms given to you. There are weekly reading quizzes which are a guaranteed 100% for completion.

Great professor. She is very caring. I struggled this semester getting my RPU's done, which is basically research credit, and she was able to help me get them done (not doing them results in letter grade drop). Her lectures are genuinely interesting. Only hw is small quizzes due each week which are super easy. I really enjoyed her class.

I highly recommend this professor! Though attendance isn't mandatory, it's easy to fall behind if you miss too many classes. Her lectures are inspiring and interesting, encouraging you to be interested in the material no matter your major.

The prof is the nicest person ever :) She wants students to learn and will not trick you with her exams. Doing her practice exams and practicing active recall will ensure an A in the class. She gives us weekly quizzes that you can get 100s on just for completion. The class was super interesting and prepared me well for upper-level psych courses.

Loved her class!! It's pretty much an easy A and her lectures are helpful. Would definitely take another class with her if I had the chance. She's very sweet and answers any questions her students have (which were lots in my class lol). Very big class.

Before you take this class, just know you'll have to complete several research studies which may have you doing stuff outside of class time and require you to be 18 or older. Exams were easy, just an endurance test on memory. The final was pretty hard though since it was cumulative, 70q new material & 70q old material from all three previous exams.

Brynildsen is outstanding. She makes comprehensive study guides for every exam, encourages questions every lecture, and even makes sure to learn her students' names! WARNING: Her passion for psychology is highly contagious. Proceed with wholesomeness. Though lectures weren't mandatory, I attended just about every one I could. Take her! :)

BEST PROFESSOR EVER! She is the absolute kindest, cares about students (she tries to learn everyone's name!) Definitely attend lecture, not only are they interesting, but her slides aren't enough to understand material for exams! She explains it all during lecture and is easily accessible to students. I wish she taught more courses here at Rutgers!

Professor Brynildsen is one of the best professors I've had! She is patient, kind, and she really works hard so that all the students truly understand the material. She's very transparent about what exams will cover, her lectures are organized, and she's an amazing professor overall. I'll be taking more classes with her in the future.

The kindest professor ever. The class is an absolute breeze as well. As long as you take notes you're practically guaranteed an A, as the test questions in my opinion were pretty easy/straightforward. Highly recommend this professor/class!

She is actually the sweetest person ever and really cares about students, even in a massive lecture class. Exams were pretty easy and similar to practice material. I only studied a little bit and got an A on all of them. She explained all info really well too

Super sweet and understanding. She takes some time before class getting to know some of her students. Lectures are interesting but can get boring. Weekly easy “quizzes”, 4 exams all multiple choice.

I rarely leave reviews on rate my professor, but tbh I had to leave one for Professor Brynildsen. She's one of the best professors out there, (in my opinion), attendance is not mandatory but you'll do better if you show up, and I don't think the lectures were boring, I thought they were pretty Interesting to listen to, and I was always intrigued.

Great class, really encouraging professor and very accessible. I've never heard a single complaint about Brynildsen!

She is a very kind, encouraging, and caring prof, wish more profs were like her. grades fairly (unlike some profs like LyRa Stein haha) attendence not mandatory but lectures r helpful, study the study guides/notes, and you'll do well. Study guides are exactly what you need to know for exams. I barely showed up and the study guides saved me. She also posts all the lecture slides. Her lectures are interesting and she is very nice as well!!

The class was great, I learned a lot, and the professor was very nice and kind. Overall, the class was just graded by very little things, exams heavy, but nothing difficult.

One of my favorite professors! Clearly loves teaching psychology and takes the time to make sure everyone understands the content. Attendance isn't mandatory, but lectures aren't recorded, and some content covered on tests came from the lectures, so I recommend going anyway. Highly recommend!

Great prof, lectures were a little boring and unnecessary though (she rarely deviates from the slide content, but she doesn't read off them word to word). Just do the TA exam questions a couple of times and the quizzes and you should be fine. She has 2 opportunities for extra credit in the form of papers you have to write

I took her as anyone reading this review would. Just for an A. TAKE HER. She is amazing professor, caring, understanding, and I plan on taking another class she teaches.

I had her for PSY101 and loved it, so I chose her for Health Psych too, and it's been great. She's one of the best psychology professors here. Everything she teaches is on the exam, including mentimeters. She posts lectures and gives plenty of prep time for exams. I wish she could teach all my psychology courses.

Dr. Brynildsen is amazing and has a passion for teaching. She made health psychology so interesting and easy. 3 exams + 1 cumulative final but no reason not to get an A- it is so easy. I love her.

Prof. Brynildsen is the best. She really cares about the subject and her students (she tries to learn their names throughout the course). She is very knowledgeable in the subject and if students ask her questions she doesn't know the answer to she writes them down and gets back to them during the next class. Her tests are easy if you pay attention.

Prof is so kind and sweet. her lectures are a bit boring in my opinion, but you dont have to go in order to succeed in the class. she gives lecture slides and posts practice questions before exams in order for you to study, and they great. recommend because attendance is not mandatory and exams are simple and to the point.

Professor Brynildsen is so sweet and passionate. The exams are really easy and are based on the study guides she gives you. There are three non-cumulative exams, and the final exam is cumulative. There is research participation that is required, but it is easy to get. I loved this class!!

One of the best teachers I've ever had.

I would take her class again and again. She is an amazing professor that is able to explain complex topics in an easy way to understand. The readings are basically optional and she is so kind and remembers all of her students names even in huge lectures. She truly cares.

Even though attendance isn't mandatory, I recommend you do attend because paying attention to her lectures are enough to help you pass. She is super approachable and wants you to succeed. She does a great job at answering questions and explaining content that may seem tricky. Also provides a lot of resources for exam help. BEST PROF, DEF RECOMMEND!

This class was my absolute favorite. Professor bryndilsen was the most caring professor who wants all her students to succeed. This class isn't easy but there are so many opportunities for extra credit. I learned so much from her class and wish she was teaching other classes. The low reviews just didn't study because the lectures were incredible.

Absolutely amazing professor. Honestly all professors should be like her. Straightforward, cares about the students, gives plenty of opportunities, ensures overall success for the students. I really enjoy psych and her being my professor just made it even better. Highly consider taking this class!!!

she is so nice and even though it's a huge lecture hall she tries to get to know everybody. her exams are very straight forward and exactly like the study guide. her lectures are not mandatory to attend and she posts all of the slideshows, but going to lecture is definitely better.

Lectures are pretty straightforward, they're slides that she posts online so if you miss a class it's no big deal. Exams are reasonable difficulty and the class was overall pretty enjoyable.

A very caring professor, she delivers good lectures with numerous examples and will try to answer every student's questions. If she doesn't know the answer, she will find it and respond in the next lecture. Would recommend.

Professor Brynildsen was really good and helpful. She was very nice & would start off lecture by going around to you and saying hello individually. The class and exams are very hard, takes a lot to study for. She is very informative but she also talks really fast. Some of the studies you go over are very confusing. Great professor, just not for me.

my fav class & prof! always looked forward to lectures, informational + interesting. tests were straight forward & lots of study material to prepare you. extra credit on final exam + she's just an amazing person! spoke to all students before lecture & memorized all of our names! answered all questions + hw was completion grade. i love her so much

She is the most caring, sweet professor I've ever had. She learns everyone's names and brings candy sometimes. Her lectures and tests are incredibly easy, she gives you study guides, ample review sessions, practice questions, and spends probably 50% of class answering questions and clarifications. If you go to class and study, you'll be fine.
