Mrs McCoy is a good teacher, very passionate about the subject. Be sure to read the eText and do the assignments on time. There is a paper due at the end of the course, dont procrastinate. She has several in-class activities that are important to the final grade. Show up to class. Memorize the final exam study guide and you will ace it. good luck!
Really good and fun class. She is a very entertaining teacher, and is filled with laughs!
Stay on it, the course was informational but not what i expected :/
This class was very informational. As a class we had very good discussions. The assignments encouraged you to think from a different perspective and do alot of research.
Good Professor and enjoyable class.
She is funny but I would not recommend her to anyone. She does not give clear expectations of essays and grades heavily unfair to the efforts you put in class. She takes off a ton of points on your "notes/ exit slips/ and random quizzes" for no reason. If you care about your GPA, do not take her.
Great teacher!
Great Professor, just do your assignments and attend class and you'll do fine!
I love the class but in my opinion, i feel we had a lot of works on our hands the whole semester. She makes class fun and joyful though. And easy to approach and talk to.
She is very talkative and enjoys when everyone engages in the class discussions. This professors goes out her way to ensure everyone will succeed during the course. If you don't attend class, your grade will be affected! I have enjoyed this semester. Take her class!
Professor McCoy is very passionate about what she does. Her lectures aren't boring at all since she has a great sense of humor. As long as you do what you're suppose to do, you'll be fine.
She is very energetic, if you are ever unsure about something just ask she is more than helpful. Do the study guides, they are very helpful when taking test in her class.
Expect a decent amount of homework. McCoy strictly adheres to her syllabus schedule. She will not remind you of due dates. It is up to you to adhere to due dates, rubrics, and papers. She is very energetic but this at times can be an annoyance. Look out for yourself and stay on top of you due dates and you'll pass.
Touch Grader, Extra Credit
she is very passionate about history
She is an awesome teacher! Really passionate about her class and will do anything to make it fun but doesn't accept full points for late work. She gives you a lot of work but if you do it all its an easy A. You don't have any final exams in her class.
Her class is very interesting, and you learn a lot of information about the history of African Americans. The course does not just focus on African American, but it discusses other races who have gone through struggles for freedom also.
Amount of work is unnecessary especially the paper due at the end of the semester. didn't see how it was relevant to course work.
great teacher, PAY ATTENTION to lectures!!
Absolutely love her. Class is pretty simple just pay attention, read and you'll be fine. Tests are straightforward too just do the study guides and the class is an easy A.
The Professor is Good but give a lot of work.
She is a nice professor. Actually helps you with your work. She is dedicated to making sure everyone understand history and passing her class
Professor McCoy was the most unorganized and boring teacher I have ever taken. Her course schedule isn't very specific, and she will skip lessons if you get behind. She doesn't work with you and will sometimes ignore emails per her discretion. She doesn't make the course very fun or interesting (for all history haters like me). NEVER AGAIN
You will have a book to read through the course along with your weekly reading of the textbook on the Pearson website. Although the reading takes time, the answers to the online quiz are directly out of the text. There's a presentation on the book and research paper at end of the semester and she is NOT a tough grader. clear criteria for tests
You won't regret it.
really nice
She has so much personality which really brings you into the conversation/lecture. McCoy really knows how to prepare you for any exam and is fair with all assignments. Honestly, without any hesitation if i had to take this professor again i most definitely would. The reading is easy to understand and is always discussed afterwards.
She is a tough grader. she has a good sense of humor.
Professor is very nice and cares. Class is an easy A as long as you keep up with assignments She forgot attendance often Only problem I had is we met 2x a week and it was not a hybrid class, however, the class is almost entirely online dealing with REVEL. in class we would reread the material. would have taken an online class and saved myself time
Professor McCoy enjoys class discussions and does her best to help you if you're struggling in her class. She does lecture a good bit, as she is passionate about her subject. Let her know if you'll be absent or need to leave early for her classes and pay attention to lectures, as you might have in class assignments.
The class was very eye opening and it challenged my thinking process which made me want to learn more about the topics we covered this semester
A bit of work but as long as u do it its an easy A. Super cool and pretty much all work is easy and online. Makes history understandable and memorable.
Professor McCoy was the most amazing professor Ive ever had. I got in an accident during the semester and she was very kind and understanding of my late work because of it. Ive never liked history but she made it bearable. Class was mostly lectures but she made it fun and interesting. I would absolutely recommend this professor to everyone.
Very enthusiastic, not a boring lecture. Movies, Videos, Games, Mostly online work.
Great teacher, awesome class! She does really great lectures, and keeps the class fun and interesting. She also makes sure you are prepared for her tests!
I liked the teacher because she was very caring and funny. She knows the material very very well.
Great professor. She made class fun and explained everything clearly. If you had any questions, she got back with you immediately. One of the easiest classes ive ever taken. I recommend her to everyone.
professor mccoy is such a great teacher. she makes history so fun and entertaining and she cares about her students and what she teaches.
Take her for any class you can. Her assignments are easy and the workload is achievable. Very funny and you will get an A if you don't get an A you did nothing at all.
Great teacher will work with you if you are struggling with work
You are an excellent teacher who does her job like no other. Please continue in instructing the minds of the next generation of law biding citizens. Thank you for everything
Youre great!
One of the best professors I've had!! She is funny and caring, she'll work with you as much as she can. The lectures are never boring and I love how she involves the students in them. To fail her class you would have to put in absolutely no effort. She's amazing and I'd love to take her again.
The test is pretty according to me. A lot of writing for the test, and you need to put a lot of effort to get a good mark in the test. You dont need to study for it. It is open book. And a lot reading; I find the book quite boring. Other than that, show up to class and you will get a reasonable grade
Great teacher!!! Exciting makes Florida history come alive. Very fair with grading. As an old retiree I wish I had her for more classes. it has been an enjoyable semester! Would take again.
She has a lot of positive energy, which makes it enjoyable to come to class. I found the book to be super boring so I assumed if I took notes and listened to lecture I would do well on the test . I was wrong , you need to read the chapters prior to her lectures. Her lectures help you understand what you read, which will prepare you for her test
Professor McCoy is a amazing professor, the class was long but it wasnt that bad with her as a professor. Shes very funny and if you do the work and read the material then youll pass the class.
Keira McCoy was a great teacher who understands the student life. She is a hilarious teacher that made learning American History fun. I took a 7 week Summer term with her and I was nervous, because its's a 7 week class. But I was pleasantly surprised when a fun, gregarious teacher showed up, who was all for helping you succeed. LOVED HER!!!!!!!!!
Good teacher, come to class and you will get a good grade
She's is very high energy, expect to see coffee in her hand. Attendance isn't necessary but she gives extra content in class that makes it easier to remember. Has exit slips for attendance but they aren't hard at all.
She's an okay professor. I didn't like her grading system. Never accepts any late work. Seems to be lenient but isn't.
This class is not a easy A ... Its a fun A. You will learn a lot and be pay attentions because of her excitement in the classroom. She requires you to read before coming into class but its not hard with the programmed that is used. She been one of my favorite teachers so far. When you go to class say "Throw them in the RIVER" she will get a laugh.
Professor Mccoy is a real good professor, she is passion about her history. Do the work and you will get an easy A.
Professor McCoy is one of the nicest and most genuine people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. She actually cares about the students and wants to teach so others will learn. Very practical woman who takes her job seriously, but makes it very enjoyable the whole way. I would take her class again even if I hated history.
Shes a great teacher. She gets very excited and passionate about what she teaches. She doesnt mind working with you if you need help. She also gives extra credit for anyone who needs the grade.
She is great teacher and passionate about what she is teaching, I took her 7 week saturday course. Her personality made the class fly back but she is going to make you work for your grade!
Be sure to attend class exit assignments due after each class! Several essays and lots of reading!
She was a professor who cares about the subject and wants you to understand what is going on. She has a great personality and grading was a breeze with her.
This professor is one of the best I've had in a while, in these difficult times of COVID- 19 she displayed 100% dedication to her work. The class was a hybrid but then switched to full online, she adapted and made great work of the school's online system. If assistance was required, she was there. Highly recommended for AMH2020
Hands the best professor Ive ever had, Im currently looking for more classes to take with her. It was a 7 week course online and a lecture once a week. We had 2-3 quizzes and a discussion w/ 2 peer responses due each week. One research paper due at the end of the course. Easiest A Ive ever received! She really is caring and understanding.
Terrible teacher can't respond to emails at all until last second. barely learned anything. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DONT TAKE THIS LADY!!!!!!!!!!!!
she Is definitely one that I disliked the most. I thought I would enjoy her class. Her personality was very sweet during class. As soon as class was over she was almost a different person. I contracted COVID and had been in and out the hospital a lot. She did not care. She graded everything SUPER harshly and had loads of work to do every day.
She is sweet but doesnt give extra credits and second chances.
This class requires lots of textbook reading (PEARSON REVEL) quizes at the end of each reading. attendence will hinder your grade. exams are BIG its all things cramed in, over 100 questions. shes good with getting back to you via email. but if your looking for a class where you only have to listen and chill this is in no way shape of form it!!!
This is not a terrible teacher but her directions are not clear on assignments. The assignments themselves arent hard but is hard to complete with lack of directions. She grades a little on the harsh side too. I also posted a discussion and the system showed my submission as blank and she gave me a zero instead of letting me fix it.
Her class itself is pretty easy because majority of it is on Pearson REVEL, but her as a teacher when it comes to outside of lecture time sucks. She seems to have a bit of an attitude, and isn't understanding to situations that arise that's out of your control. I'm seasoned with college courses and systems otherwise I wouldn't have understood much.
Prof McCoy always made class fun and exciting. It was a class I didnt mind waking up for at 10am. I would 1000% take more of her classes
The class itself isn`t hard. However, she is an extremely tough grader and nitpicks about every little tiny mistake. She only gives one huge paper spread over the course and does not mention it until a week before it is due. The assignments aren`t completely hard but she gives no instructions on how to do them. She also gives no second chances.
She's very homework heavy there's at least 7 things you need to complete every week. She lets you be a blogger instead of taking a test she's unclear in her instructions and then proceeds to grade and expect far more than what she asked for as if I can read her mind!! She doesn't understand people have lives (unlike her) and assigns too much! -9/10
I took this class as part of my dual enrollment, as an intro to college classes. McCoy was probably the best teacher from that whole year. We did very little work and mostly we talked through what was stressing us with school and different ways to work through it and improve in our other classes. She would show us funny videos and her cats. 10/10.
She's pretty strict, a stickler for attendance, and is very particular about listening to her instructions.
She has very high expectations and it a tough grader, but overall the work was very doable and she is a good professor.
She is a very hard grader and does NOT accept late work. There are a lot of discussions and the assignments can be a bit difficult. She also grades on attendance. There is LOTS of homework every week and it is difficult to keep up with. The finals are hard and there is SO MUCH READING! I would not take this class again with Prof. McCoy.
The class has a lot of work due almost every other day. Over half of the grade is determined by tedious tests and lengthy projects. The instructor makes the class harder than it needs to be for a history class. I dropped it, and took a government class instead, I was not planning on being a historian, just trying to meet a graduation requirement.
The professor course is not really hard to figure out and learn, but the teacher makes the class, so much more difficult than it needs to be. I signed up to be a blogger, make sure you read rubric very carefully because she is picky. Make sure Cornell notes are long with questions (required). Makes you go on mini field trips. DO NOT TAKE HER PLEASE
If your thinking about taking this professor as an "easy course", let me tell you it isn't. She will have you reading 2 books at 1 time, physically go to 4 museums that are at least 40 minutes away, and grade you so harshly. To be honest, I wouldn't recommend this professor at all but, if you have to all i have to say is goodluck. get ready to work
I took this class because I love history , but this professor made me lose my love for it. Her lectures weren't very clear and she would always go off topic talking about her cats. Attendance and participation is mandatory. She will take points off if you are not participating. Her instructions on assignments are not clear at all. She is very picky
Her class is really difficult but if you do her work you will pass with a good grade , she assigns a lot of homework and you have to read 2 books and then physically go to site museums .
Professor McCoy is very engaging but has high expectations. As long as you do the coursework and show attendance, she's very accepting of your view points. Her class is interactive and she provides plenty of opportunity for extra credit if you're willing to do the work. What you put in is what you get out.
Professor McCoy is a very good professor, but it was a lot of work. She was always available, and gave great feedback. You will definitely earn your grade, so what you put in is what you get out of it. The assignments were interesting, and class participation is definitely required.
Professor McCoy is energetic, and she makes class enjoyable, which makes the subject matter easy to understand. I would highly recommend her if you needed a history credit.
You will learn in this class. Stay up on your reading and you will ace this class. There is plenty of extra credit. Any issues, just let her know. She will deal with you on a teacher to individual student bases. Most caring and understanding if needed. Carefree class as long as you communicate when needed.
Great Class learn a lot I suggest taken this class on site
Great Class learn a lot I suggest taken this class on site.
There is a lot of work to be done and you will have to read, but it's more about the completion of the task than about it being perfect.
She is a good professor, but she is very, very demanding. It leaves too much homework. I had homework almost daily with long texts, articles, and research involved.
She is a good professor, but she is very, very demanding. it leaves a looot of homework, I have assignments almost daily with long text, articles, and research involved.
Professor McCoy's class is your typical college class. Be ready to do a lot of reading and a lot of writing. She has assignments due during different days of the week so be sure to be organized on due dates. . She grades in attendance so attend all of them. Pay attention to the quiz questions so know what to study for on the 2 term tests she has.
This teacher is awesome and really helped me with history which was always a middle of the road subject for me.Mrs. McCoy made it stress free and fun!
Professor McCoy was one of the best teachers I ever had. She made history so fun, keep in mind the work was heavy but very easy. And she is a very easy grader but be sure to attend class. I would love to retake her In the future. TAKE HER!!!
Professor McCoy was a great instructor. I will be honest, there is A LOT of reading and writing. Time management is truly a necessity when taking this course. With that being said, the course material and her presentation of it was so engaging and interesting it is definitely almost worth it. But you will be reading..endlessly! LOL
Professor McCoy was an amazing professor! She provided us with good information for any upcoming assignment if needed. Professor McCoy was funny and loved seeing all of us in the class communicating with each other and "bantering," as she says. The assignments and quizzes are easy to do and have thorough explanations. I truly enjoyed her class.
She is a great professor and knows exactly what she is talking about, but if you do not like writing long essays, I would not recommend.
Professor McCoy is fantastic! She really knows how to grab your attention in a fun way! Assignments are sometimes tricky in following the rubric; however, they are fun to do! This class requires you to really do your research!
No my cup of tea.
Professor McCoy was an amazing teacher. She made learning fun and the activities helped me with memorization of her homework assignments (which aren't many) and her quizzes. I learned a lot about history and also about FSCJ. I learned how to utilize the Library Commons to assist with finding research material and how to utilize the campus tutors.
Even it was a online class she made it very fun when we met once a week, I actually learned and enjoyed this history class.
Going back to school was rough for me even with one class. Because my lifestyle is so busy, I work full time, am a mother of three boys, and am a wife. I couldn't get into doing a good paper, my test taking and I feel bad for that. Trying to stay focused was hard at one point, but I push through. Because Ms. McCoy is an outstanding teacher.
Great teacher and lectures! Would definitely take another course with this professor!
This is not your typical professor. She likes to get your mind thinking and have group discussions. Always make sure you read the material with this professor.
This is an amazing Professor, she makes learning history fun. It's a lot of reading, but well worth it. I would HIGHLY recommend her.
Not recommended if you prefer an instructor who provides lectures, guidance, and direction. Minimal teaching during classes; mostly relies on independent work through Canvas. Limited chances for corrections. Consider if you prefer a self-directed learning approach, but may not suit those seeking more active instruction and support.
She is very great at making class seem fun even if the topics aren't, for me what helped was my classmates also being ready to learn and chiming in with comments it made it way easier for digestion of the content.
An excellent teacher, loves what she does.
She is so funny and has amazing energy
Professor Keira McCoy, really made the class very good about American History and the way she thought the class I got interested in American History. I didn't like it at first. She know her work and very well. If you pay attention and do the assignment also got to class you will be successful in her class. She is a great teacher.
Self-directed class structure. Little guidance provided even when requested.
She had a good teaching style and was very nice and very helpful.
Great teacher
I believe that she is a good person, but not a good professor. Although the work wasn't difficult, the assignments were not very clear. The instructions would be very vague and it was a lot of work on top of taking 3 other classes. If you are taking more than 2 classes, do not take this professor! Expect to write essays and paragraphs for exams.
You have to make sure to read everything, you aren't prepared for the major tests very well and they are a BIG part of your grade.
The lectures were confusing and a lot of homework. Also, assignments were not clear on what needed to be done so you had to figure it out and no additional time was give for missed assignments
Always be sure to plan ahead. If you think an assignment may take a day, make sure you give yourself at least two more days on top of that. Get these assignsments done in advance to avoid other class work or simply life events. Show up to every class. Most importantly, stay on top of the reading. You're going to have fun while learning in her class.
Professor McCoy is very caring and puts a lot of effort into her lectures.
Professor McCoy is excellent & I love her the tools that she uses to promote critical thinking from varying perspectives & individual strengths. Must be recognized by the college bc she definitely has her hands full. She uses diverse ways to make up for weaknesses w/other modes of learning& demonstrating knowledge. Due dates can be very confusing.
I love the use of diverse tools and assignments to help neurodivergent thinkers learn and demonstrate knowledge. Packback is interesting and tough. I would encourage the use of this but clarify due dates and enable more response time.
This class was really easy to take as long as you participated and turned in your assignments on time! Truth be told I've had professors who don't care if you pass the course or not, so taking this course was a breath of fresh air in terms of feeling cared for and respected by the professor.
No late work, no extensions, if so must provide documentation. Sometimes hard to get a hold of.
Professor McCoy's joyful teaching made classes engaging. I appreciated her readiness to educate. It would have been helpful if the readings were downloadable. Additionally, earlier notice about purchasing the movie for Module 9 and note-taking requirements would have been appreciated.
If you have any medical or family situational emergency come up, she will take it as a "favor" even with proper documentation like she requests. She is hard to get ahold of and does not make assignments very clear, even in class. She always goes off a tangent. She may be a nice lady outside of class but she is a horrible professor.
This professor is very passionate about African American History studies. This online course for me was a good but challenging lecture. I had to make sure I was on top of it when it came to writing and reading. You will read a lot but sh does videos and sums up lectures and ask questions. I would take her again.
Actually puts effort to entertain the subject and draw students attention. Love it!
a lot of writing
Professor McCoy is a very joyful person. I think she really enjoys her job and teaching but, I will say that her modules were a little confusing and some of her material required some clarification. I would also add be ready to read and write a lot for this class.
Always in a great mood and made learning a good time.
Learned a lot during this course and enjoyed it greatly.
Great Professor, but get ready to participate and be knowledgeable about what assignment you are working on and use resources offered by the school to help with some assignemnts.
She's very understanding and funny. She does require to follow the guidelines that are set, but that's what makes her an awesome teacher.
Professor McCoy is alright. You will writing a lot of essays. 6 essays, 6 discussions that you will have to cite the information from the article and cite the source, and 6 exit tickets.I would recommend Professor McCoy as a last option. She is a very sweet person, but is very strict and gives a lot of work.
She is great. Pay attention to the lectures they are helpful for the tests.
Professor McCoy is an amazing instructor! She is youthful, educated and such a bubbly beautiful soul. I am so happy I was able to take her course and I will miss her ! She always gives you a chance to improve your grade, as long as you're willing to put the effort to do the work.
Very fun energetic teacher. She is a historian and loves her job . Plenty of extra credit to help with the wr
She is a very energetic and passionate about teaching.
the class is easy to get through if you keep up . the online lectures are fun , informative and engaging . the modules are easy to maneuver through .
I found her easy to work with. Ever module has a discussion post, worksheet or paper so get ready to write.
Youll Love her!
The class was difficult for my first time back in school in some years, but the Professor was clear on what she wanted and needed and gave me plenty of chances to improve my grade. I would 100% would take this professor again, just not the 0600 class haha.
Professor McCoy greatly relates to her students and always makes me laugh, despite being an online class course she still helps me stay focused and definitely is a great advocate of time management skills which also keeps me on track in school life and general life. I really enjoyed being a student in her class, she gives great advice.
Professor McCoy is a great professor and super energetic. You can tell she is passionate about history and she explains the material in a way that Is easy to understand. There is homework but most of it is very engaging. I highly recommend taking her class.
I thought Professor McCoy's class would be calm but it's the direct opposite. Slow grading (1-2 weeks for 2-3 assignments) and poor email responses that take way too long. Not a mean person, just bad at being a professor. 3 hour meetings that are mandatory and she drags things on for too long. Avoid if you want a stress-free class.
Very outgoing. Nice discussions. not alot of writting which was good.
I don't take classes anticipating a professor to be easy. However I didn't think that the course load would be of this magnitude. I enjoyed the knowledge I've gained but if you're looking for a course where you can "coast"....this isn't it.
Professor McCoy is one of the brightest, most uplifting, and understanding professors I've ever had. I would most definitely take her class again!
She is a good teacher and passionate about the subject. But there is a good amount of homework to do so get ready for that.
very nice and i love her sm so sweet.
Professor McCoy was an overall pretty good teacher, but sometimes hard to read. Feedback could have been a lot better, but she was always kind. Takes a little bit to grade, and does sometimes get things wrong. Takes a little bit to respond to emails.
Professor McCoy is an amazing teacher! She is very patient and kind and will thoroughly explain assignments or any type of questions that you may have. Even if it is explained under the assignment posting. She does have two test in her class that are important which are, the mid term and the final exam, but they are not proctored.
Professor McCoy is passionate about her role as a professor. She gives several extra credit opportunities to her students, makes material easy to understand and reminds us that she used to be in our shoes. I highly recommend her class to any student.
I like her
Gives a lot of extra credit opportunities, but work has to be done on time if its late the assignments close automatically.
I took this class at 6 am and the professor was always so energetic and happy which made the class so much more enjoyable. Also has a lot of extra credit so passing this class is more than possible, only thing I would make sure of is to read over the assignments before they are due so you can ask questions because they are a bit vague. Still 10/10!
She is a very nice lady, a good person, and a good professor but she is also very strict. She will not give you any "favor" if you don't have any proper documents, even if you beg her or email her a thousand times, don't you worry, she WILL NOT. Taking her class would be so nice if that is the only class you are going to take for the semester.
The professor and class were great.
HEAVY on assignments, has two different finals. I skipped the final paper to settle for a B, but she removed my points for the previously graded (as 100 percent) research proposal and bibliography assignments. Will be appealing. If you like having a neurotic and petty teacher, this one is for you!
I honestly can't tell if these exaggerated reviews are for the extra credit McCoy offers when you rate her course. It's boring lectures, annoying assignments, weekly discussions, and essays with no revisions. The expectation to perform at a high level contradicts her poor teaching. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE POSITIVE REVIEWS AND AVOID THIS PROFESSOR!
A very self-directed class with little to no guidance. If you're looking for an easy course, I wouldn't recommend this professor to anyone. She's an ok person but not good at teaching.
She was nice as a person but the amount of worked assigned was insane. At one point there were five or six assignment due in one week. She makes you travel to a museum in the name of "field research". There were two finals, one 3 question (essay response) test and a final paper. Overall, I would recommend taking unless necessary.
I've taken A LOT of classes at FSCJ, and she is the toughest grader I've encountered. SO MANY ASSIGNMENTS are due at once & in general. A lot of writing(1,000-word essays), tests are 3 essay questions, field research project & you have to read 2 books. She expects way too much from a 7-week course.
Professor McCoy and is a good teacher and made history interesting.I took her class during the summer time. All the assignments are different and unique. She will challenge you and make you work for every grade. Although, there can be a large workload time management is key to becoming successful and ask for help.
Professor McCoy was able to provide an abundance of information in a way that was easy to understand and grasp. She also provides a lot of opportunity for extra credit if you are willing to help yourself. Along with providing some of her assignments in different formats, instead of regular essay style, to help make it more interesting for you.
She gives good feedback to the assignments she grades to make sure you learn from the mistakes for future work.
Professor McCoy was very thorough and helpful. She provided several options for projects according to the students learning style and preferences. I hope every professor is as empathetic and patient with me going forward. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone and would gladly take a class from her in the future if the opportunity arises.
She doe not care about her job one bit. She will go out of her way to make your time miserable. Steer clear from her. Does not communicate. Does not care to work with you at all. She does not care about you at all. She should choose a different profession
Mrs. McCoy is a great teacher first and foremost. She requires you to attend the online course once a week. The lectures are fun and very helpful for the class. The worst part is the course paper. Fortunately, you have the whole semester to get it together. I would retake her class but would suggest taking a full semester version. 7 weeks is hard.
I have never enjoyed history classes in the past. However, this was different with Prof
Professor McCoy made history a fun class. It wasn't your typical memorize every date type class. Professor McCoy was always available and responded in a timely manner to any questions. She truly cares about the success of her students.
Professor McCoy is a great teacher. She makes class fun and answers all your questions. There are a lot of papers to write but there's also lots of opportunities for extra credit. Someone mentioned the Camp Blanding project...that is for extra credit and is NOT mandatory. I would def recommend her class
She is very funny. You don't have to be stressed in her class. She is open for creativity. I love how in some of the assignments you get to use your own style.
Professor Mccoy was really awesome, she is very thorough allows enough time to complete assignments, has multiple extra credit opportunities. Her online class was fun she made sure students were involved and not bored. I would 100% take her again.
It was a very fast moving online C course but Ms. McCoy is fun, understanding and eager to answer any questions. There are quite a few projects, but they are quite fun and informative. This is a class that you will truly learn something. Plenty of opportunities for extra credit if you are willing to put in the time.
Ms. McCoy is a good teacher, but is unclear in many of her assignments and she didn't understand half the emails I sent her this semester. She explains things well in the lesson and covers all subjects. She encourages participation during the lessons, and while I'm not sure attendance is mandatory, it's needed to be able to understand assignments.
Professor McCoy has been quite an audacious lecturer and one that provided understanding during times of difficulty. She has also been one that provides a lot of assignments, but tends to never give any feedback during her grading process.
I believe that Professor McCoy genuinely loves what she is teaching. The first few minutes of class was dedicated to answering questions, Her lectures were always lively and it was clear she loves both teaching and educating. Her grading criteria is clearly laid out in each assignment and she goes over each assignment to ensure clarification.
Professor McCoy is really funny but she is a great teacher for real!! She talks a lot but it's all informative information. Just make sure you take notes and submit your assignments on time!!
Professor McCoy is a big recommandation from me. Her teaching style includes a lot of interacting but she makes it interesting. She is very understanding as well.
Deadlines are concrete, but she has a big heart and will work with you in most cases! She makes topics relatable and does her best to go over every assignment in depth. If you ever have questions she's always there to help you out and she responds in a timely manor. Very easy to talk to and she loves when you pick her brain.
Overall she is a great professor, I just wish the study guides had more details to prepare me for the test. She is a tough grader but she could also be a little more detailed as well.
Professor McCoy was great. It was easy to listen to lectures and she got the class to engage in a fun way.
Initially I was nervous about this course, because I am not into history. But the way Professor McCoy presents the material makes it very interesting. I actually enjoyed learning.
The assignments were way too long and asked for too many things to be done. The extra credit assignments were not helpful because they were way out. I do not think she care if her students pass or not.
Would not recommend
I am not from Florida but the class and material was absolutely amazing. She lightens the classroom and environment with her enthusiasm, I really enjoyed our class times and the assignments. Maybe a little bit of reading but the material was so interesting and she keeps you pumped up about it through the whole course.
Professor Mccoy is a really nice professor, she makes class enjoyable and is very energetic. The only thing about the class is I had a hard time with a lot of the assignments because there were too many due at one time. You also have to be mindful of the grading because she keeps up with the grades quickly. Make sure to keep up with the work.
Great professor makes the class fun & engaging
Professor McCoy's exceptional instruction during the AMH 2020 online summer course. Your dedication, knowledge, and engaging teaching style made this class a truly memorable experience. Your enthusiasm for American history was contagious. I would highly recommend your course to any student interested in American history.
Professor McCoy was an absolutely phenomenal professor!! I loved her humor, personality, humility & she's a terrific listener & teacher!!
She gives good feedback on your assignments to help steer you in the right direction. Makes online class interesting instead of boring monotone lectures.
Very easy class. She makes all assignments very clear and goes over anything you don't understand. She makes sure to give plenty of possible grades to help you out if your struggling in the course.
Professor McCoy is an empathetic and patient educator. She offers flexible project options and provides helpful feedback. I'd recommend her class - just be sure to manage time well, as the workload can be heavy. unstuckstudy ai was a game-changer for my exam prep.
McCoy is very fun, she has lots of energy during online class and loved to have everyone involved. The atmosphere in class is amazing due to jokes and sense of humor but learning and gathering information is very important! She wants you to understand the course and you have to work for it.
McCoy is a very fun teacher and the atmosphere is amazing during class. Laughing and cutting up but serious time reflecting and understanding course material. You have to work but she cares and strives to be of assistance in order for excellence.
She makes the class effortless. There is a lot to ready and a paper to write at the end of the course. But it's great that she opens up almost all the assignments so that you can work as far ahead as you need. Assignments are clearly explained as well. I would definitely take her again. 10 out of 10, would definitely recommend. A+ experience.
This Professor is lecture based and interactive. Her upbeat personality made the class fun. Going in I was unsure of what to expect but, this course has been interesting from her humor, lectures, to the discussion topics. If you work a little ahead it is not so overwhelming, and she is very upfront and ready to assist at any time.
mrs.McCoy is very goofy i dont know she just funny and brings joy to the class.
Professor McCoy was a fair professor who clearly laid out her expectations at the start of the seven-week course. She warned us that it would be a lot to cover in a short time, which helped set our expectations. While she did well overall, I think she could have explained the assignments a bit better. I would take her class again, just not 7 weeks.
Professor McCoy is lecture based, comical and requires you to push through and get your work in. One thing I loved was the discussion topics. It required you to really think. My advice would be to work ahead if you are taking a 7wk course and ask questions if you are unclearly about anything.
Professor McCoy was one of the most fun and funny professors I've ever had in college. She made each virtual lectures fun and answers all the questions. There is a lot of essays to do in this class but it is US History so makes sense, she also gives out very help tools which makes homework easy/fun!
She is a friendly professor and always has great energy. Be ready to read and write.
This is A fairly easy course. If you take an online course your attendance is graded on your participation. A Great course to learn all about U.S. History. Great Professor, great communication. Answer all questions
Very lively professor. Participation matters during class time. Would definitely recommend
This professor is excellent. Very enthusiastic. Her lectures get you interested in the material and are very fun. Gives plenty of extra credits. My only complaint is the workload; be prepared for huge amounts of work! It can be very overwhelming if you do not stay on top of it. Overall a good experience.
Enjoyed the content and material and she provided many ways to make it interesting.
Attendance is not mandatory but it is helpful in getting insight into deliverables since many had typos or were vague in the instructions. There are MANY assignments and also heavy readings. Felt I had to prioritize the assignments because so many were due/wk. For example the Mid term week had about 4 due &a quiz related to readings+ midterm.
Professor McCoy has a unique teaching style that engages us in great discussions. Her lectures are well-structured and provides examples to help clarify difficult concepts. She encourages students to ask questions and promote an interactive environment, making it easier to understand the material.
This class wasn't what I expected. Being a shorter class you seem like the work is a heavy load and it can be at time, but having a teacher that is passionate about the subject makes it a lot easier to understand. Teaching isn't easy and learning can be even harder. What makes it easier is a teacher that is understanding and is willing to help.
Professor McCoy was awesome! Her lectures were interesting and her energy was so fun. Assignment heavy and lots of reading but it was a 7 week class and she warned us. Definitely recommend and would take again!
The class was quite demanding, quite difficult to keep up with the assignments if you have a full-time job. The professor was charismatic and very dynamic. Very responsive and supportive.
This professor makes sure that she builds a connection with her students. There is a work load, but if you manage your time wisely, you'll be just fine!
Professor McCoy is a really great teacher. She does give a lot of work but if you plan your schedule accordingly and can get it done on time it really helps to remember the material that she is teaching. I highly recommend taking her class.
Miss McCoy is a fantastic energetic professional professor, she is willing to help out anyway she could! Would recommend to my friends that like to write papers! This class was very informative about the history of Florida! You will learn a bunch of cool facts, and your hands will not like you after this class with the amount of homework! Miss ya!
This professor places a high value on time, so any extra credit is based on your ability to spend time doing something. Her lectures are very interaction based. Although her content is not always the clearest, if you pay attention in class it is a hard class to fail.
Expect assignments on two texts simultaneously, as well as other unrelated assignments. Attendance is mandatory and graded. Lectures are very interactive and you can tell she is passionate about what she teaches. I enjoyed the class, but the amount of homework and the little points each was worth was frustrating due to it being so time-consuming.
This professor is very interactive and lively. Which is a good thing I thought. The material is clear but the work load is packed so you have to pay heavy attention to due dates. All in all not a bad class.
Ms.McCoy is amazing! Assignments are easy once you understand what you need to do! very understanding and fun teacher. offers XC adleast 4xs during the semester.
Ms.McCoy is a great professor and an amazing person with a real out-of-this-world personality. She doesn't waste time with boring lectures and gets straight to the point with the main topics you'll need to succeed. She gives simple assignments and her essays are straight forward and not at all complicated. I wish I could have her for every class.
I appreciate that Pr. McCoy makes an attempt to make the assignments interesting and engaging. A lot of her assignments encourage personal reflection which helps me with remembering important information in her class. She gives out a lot of homework and opportunities for extra credit which ensures that your grades are never stagnant.
Great and very helpful
I realy enjoyed my time and the flow to the lectures
The professor is amazing; however, this class was definitely not what I expected out of a history class. The class seemed more like an English class. I'm glad that I took it easy my first semester because I would have freaked out if I had a heavier courseload. All in all, the class is fun, you will LEARN, but you will do a lot of WRITING papers.
This professor was very good in giving feedback on homework and other stuff. Also she really nice person and a down the earth persson as well. There is a lot of extra credit opportunities in the course. A lot of reading involved in the course. But in all a really great course and a great professor would recommed taking this course.
Great course and very entertaining
This class was great and full of amazing information. Professor McCoy was also a pleasure to be taught by! I really enjoyed her class!
Highly recommend for any history buff or any student who is interested into US history. Professor McCoy is a perfect instructor in my opinion who will Meticulously break down complex topics or events in the subject. 10/10 Again would recommend
Be aware that this professor is super hilarious and descriptive each and every class about what's due every week so be sure to ask your questions mostly during class in the time she talks about the assignments. Also, I would recommend you to make a personal agenda every week and outline your assignments in advance as she does assign a lot of work.
Proffessor McCoy is a very engaging teacher. She also goes out of her way to make sure you have all of the information you would need to earn a passing grade in her class. She was very understanding that as students we have Many other classes, and let us take final exams and upload course assignmetns early on finals week! Overall Great Proffessor!!
Professor McCoy is extremely funny she's always open to help with things that you need help on. She is by the book when it comes to late assignments and grading which makes you wanna push yourself to get the work done. She is also super sweet she will talk to you when you need it and is very caring. She is an amazing professor
Professor Mccoy was awesome. Made learning about history fun and enjoyable. With online lectures, she kept us engaged the whole time. She would stay on until everyone's questions were answered. Professor Mccoy showed she cared about the students.Thank you, Professor Mccoy! You are much appreciated.
She was very direct and helpful with assignments.
She was helpful and direct with assignments. Good Teacher!
She's very funny and has great lectures. If you don't like reading then this isn't the class for you. As long as you apply yourself and get the work done you'll pass.
She is very fun to be around and if you have questions, she has the answers.
Didn't cover a lot of material during lectures, but did go over some. A lot of it is self guided and taught through reading and lots of assignments. She did offer a lot of extra credit and each class went over upcoming assignments and helped with any questions or concerns. Always fun and in a great mood.
History is usually boring to hear, but the professor made lectures fun and the assigments had very flexible due dates and quizzes and tests are rather easy. There are not a lot of assigment and the professor offers a lot of extra credit.
She was helpful and direct with assignments. Good Teacher!
Professor McCoy has been my favorite professor at FSCJ. She is hilarious and makes the class enjoyable. She also breaks down all of the work to make it easy to understand and you will not be bored, trust me. I did take her 7 week course so if you are not able to keep up do not take the short course! Overall I recommend taking her !
.Professor McCoy is an engaging and clear lecturer who enforces strict deadlines but offers ample extra credit and uses smart proctoring. Overall, she's a great teacher; focus on assignments for an easy pass.
Prof McCoy is engaging and passionate about her subject during online class time. Her assignments are not mundane or repetitive and allow for creativity. She also has a fun sense of humor. However, she can be difficult to follow, and the workload is dense.
Professor McCoy you can tell really cares about her craft and is passionate about teaching. Follow the rules and adhere to her grading criteria and you will do great in this class. DO NOT turn in after due date! The online meetings are full of energy and she is very knowledgeable about Florida's history and has a ton of patience.
I would recommend Professor McCoy, but keep in mind that this class (History of Florida, AMH 2070) requires a physical textbook, a novel, and her workbook that you must buy. I took this class in 7 weeks, but I'd suggest avoiding this if possible. There were about 2-5 assignments per week in addition to mandatory lectures. Final research paper
Super fun teacher. Most of the work is easy. I was able to use my notes on both exams. I took this course completely online & every Friday Professor McCoy was thorough & explained everything on point in my opinion. & she gives lots of extra credit opportunities. Awesome professor.
Do not miss any classes!
I wouldn't say Professor McCoy was a bad teacher. Her assignments were clear. Little tolerance for accepting any late work. She do overloads you with assignments and provides a lot of extra credit. There is a lot of reading and writing for the class. Only issue I had with her was her attitude and tone in her emails. She can be very rude so beware.
Professor McCoy ensures she brings lots of energy to every class. She also gives great feedback after the assignment is graded. As this class only met once a week, there was plenty of time to complete all tasks by the due date.
This class was fun to learn about the History of Florida. The online lectures are mandatory, but the teacher makes them fun.
I know Professor McCoy was a pleasant teacher. Her assignments were obvious. There is little tolerance for accepting late work. She overloads you with assignments and gives you a lot of additional credit. There is a lot of reading and writing in this class. Although I like her lesson, it was incredibly tough at the time.
Professor McCoy was excellent as a professor! She's engaged with the class and made it entertaining while learning about American History. I recommend attending all the lectures and rewatching them for little nuggets of information. There's quite a bit of reading to do, and lots of extra credit offered.
Professor McCoy was extremely respectful when I suddenly lost my grandfather during spring break. She checked in on me and gave kind words to me and my family. She is also very good at keeping your attention during lectures, even if you find History boring I recommend taking her.
Amazing professor, she is very interactive and engaging. There are various extra credit opportunities in this class that help a lot. She makes the class meetings fun and engaging.
This class has A LOT of assignments. However, her teaching style truly works amazing. I never felt the need to sit down and study because the assignments given, were my studying. If you like a class that is hands on and keeps you engaged. I'd recommend this class a million times over. Amazing teacher, great personality and lectures.
I didnt know i had to buy my own books for this class and i didnt have the money
I didnt know i had to buy my own material for this class
Would not recommend, Professor McCoy. She made assignments difficult to complete. For example, It was requirement for an assignment to go to Camp Blanding which happened to be close to an hour away from my home. She is not considered of people's time and constantly rude when raising a question in class and ridiculously long assignments and test.
Prof. McCoy is one of a kind. She's caring, straight forward, enthusiastic, energetic, understanding and so much more. Taken a 7 week course is always difficult. She makes it easy for you to track and get it done. She also puts in extra credit just in case you miss an assignment, there is an opportunity to make it up with the extra credit.
The teacher was pretty funny, a lot of work but if you do it you pretty much get an A+.
You know where you stand with Prof McCoy, she give extra credit even if you don't need it
An easy class to pass as long as you stay on top of the work. She also offers many extra credit opportunities throughout the semester.
Overall, the professor organizes the classes and assignments well throughout the course. She also explains the topics in an interactive way.
Very caring and understanding professor. She cares about American history, and you as an individual student. She had multiple extra credit opportunities to help you get the grade you want.
This professor is nothing but amazing. She's very attentive, her lectures and syllabus. It's very clear. The homework is a lot but as long as you stay on top of it, you're fine. She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities throughout the semester and she drops the lowest grade that you've received I love this class
Ms mccoy, allows students to make up some work, and even offers extra credit opportunities. She makes class time fun and engaging, which really helps with learning. The only challenge for me was the 9 p.m. end time—by the last 30 minutes, I'd start feeling tired—so I'll definitely schedule earlier classes next time. Overall, a great professor!
Professor McCoy makes this class so FUN and easy to pass!! As long as you are dedicated to your required readings and have fun with the assignment, you can easily achieve an "A" in this course. There are so many extra credit opportunities, and her lectures are always engaging and participatory in nature. I thoroughly enjoyed this class!
Professor McCoy is a wonderfully down to Earth teacher. She makes the material easy to understand by explaining it in simple terms without dumbing it down too severely and leaving out crucial information. Attendance is a must as you are graded for it and be prepared to always turn your assignments in on time because she does not accept late work.
My biggest complaint would be she does NOT take late work, unless you have picture proof of an "emergency". The assignments automatically lock at 11:59 pm on their due dates, so good luck if you forget to do an assignment. You will be stuck with a zero. While the midterm and final allow notes, they are proctored so be aware of that.
Professor McCoy is the Sherpa of history professors. She guides you to historic destinations, but allows great latitude for the student to find their own path.
Professor McCoy was truly exceptional! She was always ready to teach the class and keep us engaged, even if we were not prepared. She delivered the information in a way that stuck. Excellent professor, would love to have her again!
Best Professor I've had for history! I was engaged the entire time. With all the extra credit work theres always room to make mistakes and still get an A!
She makes classes super fun and enjoyable. She loves interacting with her students. As long as you are present and complete assigned tasks, you will do very well. Tip: some of her extra credit assignments require very minimal effort, so take the chance! Also, you might want to do some of your own readings.
I think she's a great professor. She has a good sense of humor and makes the class enjoyable, but you can also learn a lot from her course that she teaches. She offers plenty of opportunities for extra credit, which really helps. Overall, I would definitely recommend her class to anyone looking to learn.
She was such a respectful and understanding person. Her classes were always fun!
This professor is very funny in class and very interactive. She always brightens the mood in the classroom. You get multiple extra credit opportunities that you can do. Although she is strict with the deadlines on her assignments so as long as you do the assignments on time, you'll probably pass this class.
She gave a lot of assignments but she made clear of their due dates and to check the calendar constantly for changes. She did make a few changes to the calendar. She gave a good amount of extra credit assignments. Her lectures were fun and also thought provoking. Her class project was a bit confusing. But generally a great class!
Great Professor, teaches in a way that makes the learning easy and fun. Her deadlines aren't flexible and her assignment instructions can be a little confusing, but overall she's a wonderful teacher.
Very thorough and in depth analysis provided in most lectures. Class format allows for discussion and Professor McCoy worked to give a large portion of information during the Cold War segments in an interesting format for all knowledge-bases. I enjoyed my time in this course and the assignments were generally fulfilling.
Clear and organized professor with fair grading and manageable work load. Helpful and responsive.
Her lectures are good & lively, but don't let that fool you. Outside of class she gives unclear instructions & hefty word counts for assignments. Feedback was rude & nitpicky on formatting, which made it feel like I was in ENC when it came to grading. Also grades attendance, with zero tolerance for any late work & doesn't like to communicate.
In the first few weeks, she wasn't even in class, teaching, so the whole class was behind in the course. Her directions weren't very clear at times & feedback for the work was slow and rash and nitpicked to the point of getting complete zeros even if the work was completed on time. Grades are also based on attendance, which can be inaccurate.
This professor does teach history, so be prepared for plenty of work. Overall, she is fair in her grading and is charismatic towards her students.
She is very nice, but the course does require a huge amount of time reading between three separate textbooks. In the beginning, the homework may seem overwhelming, because she loads it on. She offers multiple opportunities for extra credit throughout the course which is nice. Please note she requires every assignment have detailed citations.
she's very nice but lots of work and locked assignments till day of.
She is a very engaging and energetic teacher. However, I found myself struggling with the work in her class. The assignments are locked usually until class starts and you only have a couple hours to complete them. Also, there is little to know wiggle room to make up assignments because the class is packed with work. It is doable but a bit hard.
She helps us with our writing skills to improve for what to come.
Professor McCoy is a great professor, she has a big personality. It can be a lot over an online call, I wish I had taken the class in person instead. She is very forgiving and understanding if you talk to her privately. Try to complete assignments before the due date because there is much to do.
She has a very bubbly personality which shows in her lectures. In turn her teaching style allows space for ideas to be voiced as long as you participate and ask questions. Overall the work may be a lot but a quarter you'll do in class, the rest is doable in 40 minutes on average. Tests are short but require you to read considerably.
Professor McCoy was wonderful. She was very kind, and reached out when she noticed I was falling behind. She cares greatly about her students and does a lot to help them out.
Very enjoyable and good teacher when it comes to the lectures but can get rude or snippy when you ask her a question that she feels “dumb”.
This professor was okay. I personally wouldnt take her again just because of the way she graded and how the work load was based. It was difficult for me to keep up but she was a good teacher while we are in person.
Class is easy and she makes it fun
Professor McCoy had an entertaining and unique class in teaching AMH2070, The History of Florida. She was funny, likable, and caring. She's great at giving extra credit, and her work is generally easy as long as you pace yourself.
Professor McCoy is the best!! Her class requires a lot of homework/ research but her instructions are clear and she's a very fair grader, no surprise deductions. Her lectures are amazing- yes, she is hilarious but she's very engaging with class. Not a dry online lecture like you get with most. I wish she could teach all my classes.
A lot of reading. The books are free + library. NO LATE WORK ACCEPTED! The lectures were very informative and recorded. Some assignments are right after the lectures and can feel rushed to complete same day. Some assignments require "field trips" including the final essay, so keep that in mind if you don't have transportation. Plenty extra credit!
Ms. McCoy is a great teacher. The same can't be said for the class I took, AMH 2070, which is the main problem. This course was extremely difficult, even for a history-minded person like myself. It's easily the most difficult course I've ever taken, but I'm not sure how much of that rests on Ms. McCoy, as she's helpful and can be reached anytime.
Professor McCoy is overall great. She is understanding and works with you. However, it's important to be mindful that when grading, you will not receive full credit unless you've answered every question or done exactly what the project requires. To me this is fair but it's important to know before taking her class! would definitely take her again.
Lots of work. This class requires much of your time for those just doing it for the credits. Overall difficult class but nice professor.
Lots of work. This class requires a lot of your time for those who are taking it for the credits. Overall difficult class, but nice professor.
Provides a large course load, which could be a good or bad thing; if you score high enough on bigger assignment missing a few smaller assignments here and there won't affected your grade too harshly. Also offers many opportunities for easy extra credit. Homework due roughly 3 to 4 times a week multiple assignments per day. Passionate about teaching
Professor McCoy is an overall amazing teacher. Just be prepared for a lot of homework and reading. History at least for me can be a bit boring at times but she manages to keep the energy flowing.
She's a good professor, but it was just a heavy workload. From the start, there were a lot of time-consuming things and a decent amount of work. Towards the end, she spaced it out, which made it easier to do, especially with other classes I took. Shes a toughish grader but does give extra credit.
Professor McCoy is passionate and caring, but she also travels a lot and assignments can be a bit unclear at times. Prepare yourself for some online sessions and open-ended homework. I definitely learned a lot!
professor's professional abilities including teaching style and ability to convey the material clearly was wonderful Thank you
Loved this class once I got use to hybrid classes.
