Keith was a fun and interactive teacher. Even though I recieved an A- I didn't feel that he wanted perfection in my writing. I would recommend him to anyone who takes school seriously.

In this class you write one big 7-10 page paper, and a two small 1-2 page papers. You have lots of opportunity for help, if you turn in your drafts on time. Keith gives lots of GREAT advice on how to improve your paper, and his guidelines, handouts, and classroom instruction are thorough and clear. Handouts are even triple-hole punched for binders!

He loves to talk. And dramatically. I found the book (Thoreau) quite boring. I realized early on that class discussion days are basically his time to talk .. hard to get a word in edgewise.. I ended up skipping all the discussions b/c of frusteration. I got A-. But he's good to talk to outside of class about ideas- bouncing ideas off of him is good

If your taking English 101, I'd suggest taking it with Aubrey. He makes it easy to learn, and easy to complete essays!

hes kinda weird, but not too shabby of a teacher

in keith's english 102 class you just write one 7-10 page research paper. he likes to make his class read thoreau's 'walden pond' but you can get by just reading the 12 pages of chapter 2. he is more than willing to help students with their papers if they come to him before the deadline. if you can stand to read the 12 pages of thoreau, i would definately recommend keith. there's no reason why you shouldn't get an A out of this class.

Kept things interesting. He helped and advised me and seemed to genuinely care about his students.

Talk about a boring class, the research paper. I recommend that if you have to do a research paper, do it in a learning community. This was just plain boring. Walden and civil disobiediance written by Henry dumbass Thoureao was the book we used. Never again, good riddens. Was a waste of my life but had to get it done for requirement. boooo!!!

Really enjoyed keith's class. He is very entertaining and makes you feel comfortable. Only wrote four papers and he gives very helpful information in his editing so that you can revise them to exactly what he wants. I would definitely take his class again!

If you go to class and do the work you can?t really go wrong. His expectations are pretty clear. Keith is a bit on the dramatic side but that kept me awake.

Aubrey has a lower rating probably because most people are lazy and don't want to work for their grade. I, on the other hand, learned a lot from this guy. If you want to actually learn and have a good experience then this is your man. If you are lazy and worthless then take it anyway because you deserve to fail.

Very unusual ways of teaching... but very effective. Great instructor for people who want to learn.

Keith is helpfull outside class and even in class he can be entertaining, if you are in the mood for it. Otherwise he can be quite annoying. I think this is the classic example of teacher trying to be funny so as not to bore students or himself, but sometimes just a good lecture is in order, and random humor is confusing. And yes, ego ego ego.

i took english 101 from him 4 years ago (i'm graduating with a BA now from UW) and I have to say, of all my classes at EvCC, his was the most memorable. I used to hate writing, but now it's my passion, and when i'm writing, i still keep his advice in my head! He used an approach with music and also showed us "Harold and Maude." awesome!!

Fantastic professor! I found him to be very entertaining, and still very professional. This class was definitely one of the only English classes I have gained any new knowledge or experience from.

He's nice and "funny" but I found him to ramble on about irrelevant random things most of the class periods. I didn't feel I learned a lot from this class. Probably wouldn't suggest him if you are looking to learn and get your work done. If he doesn't like something you're doing, he will call you out in front of the whole class. Kind of rude..

Great teacher, talks a lot and is very animated. I enjoyed his class though. Gives lots of time for questions regarding the essay topic. Gives handouts and makes everything clear! Only graded on the 4 essays you write.

Keith is a fantastic teacher. I started his class with a fear of writing, and now genuinely enjoy it! Keith is extremely helpful; he takes time to speak with any student who seeks his help, and seems to genuinely care about the success of his students. He is matter-of-fact with his grading, sticking to grammar and punctuation.

He was one of the best teachers that I have ever had. He is very quick-witted. Not everyone understood his jokes, however those that did found his lectures very interesting and fun. Overall, he is a very funny person and makes his classes interesting. Just keep in mind his sarcasm and quick wit when signing up! (I enjoyed it!)

Keith is a wonderful teacher. He is firm with his grading but is willing to help you if you ask for it. He really wants you to succeed but he also knows what it takes for that to happen. You need to show up to class on time. Do you work and turn it in on time. If you can do those 2 things you should have no problem passing this class.

Not gonna lie, Keith talks & laughs at his own jokes a lot, but half the time they're not that bad. You won't miss much on his lecture days (skipped a few myself). Turn your work in on time, participate, and ask plenty of questions (especially on your essays since those are the only things he grades) and you should be fine! He gives great advice.

To pass, make sure to TALK to Keith about all his suggestions on your revised drafts because they're all very crucial to actually learning in his class. Very good feedback too, when you actually try to understand it. He won't take the time to help individuals unless you approach him yourself -- it's his philosophy where WE determine our success

Overall great teacher. He likes to talk a lot, sometimes even after class has ended. Only 4 papers for his English 101 class, so the workload wasn't hard, and no tests. If you take his advice on your revised essays you can get really good grades on your papers. He gives awesome advice when you ask and even helps with topic ideas when you're stuck.

Never been interested in any English class until i took this class. we wrote 4 essays through out the quarter and that's all you're graded on. Go into it all with an open mind and it will be enjoyable. The reading for this class was kind of interesting too.

I took Keith for ENGL 098 and 101 and wished he taught 102. He is clear on what he wants and as long as you participate and ask for help when needed I don't see how you could fail. By far my favourite teacher so far.

Wow. This was my first year back to school in 14 years. I can honestly say he lit a fire in me about English and writting. He is very passionate about his job and love to be theatrical. Which makes class fun. He is direct and at the same time can answer your question with a question to make you think.

I didn't go into this class with high expectations - it's mandatory for everyone - but it turned out alright. Expect a show (I'm pretty sure he was an actor in another life). Grading is pretty clear, although a bit tough. Just do what he says on the rough draft and you'll get a B. Wouldn't take again, but I'm influenced by lack of interest.

His style of teaching is something that I am used to and I really appreciate his enthusiasm. He may seem like a lot at first but it's because he really cares about his students and their success. Little workload, little reading, tough on essays but! He let's you make last minute changes in pen on the paper. One of my favorite teachers.

Keith is an acquired taste, but that doesn't mean he isn't a good teacher. He really gets you interested in the lectures and makes you think about things in a different way. 8/10 he'll give indirect answers to make you further think about your question. If you have any questions that you still cant figure out take advantage of his office hours!

Keith was a great teacher, as long as you're in school for the right reasons! If you skip a lot of class or blow off homework, you will have a hard time in this class! If you do what you are supposed to, this class was great! The essays were clear topics but actually challenge you to think!

Keith is very dramatic when he teaches--he finds a way to make things into a narrative and is easy to get immersed in what he's saying. That being said, he's not an "easy" teacher. Also, the group grading can be kind of difficult if you get stuck in a group who doesn't want to participate. I loved his class, personally.

I would take this class again. Keith makes the class fascinating because he is so dramatic during the lectures. There were only four papers that were graded so make sure that time is spent wisley on each paper to get the best grade possible. Tough grader but is always there for office hours and is willing to help if students ask for it.

If you are looking for an english class with some zest, keith is the way to go. Always fruitful discussion along with the reading you have to do which isn't intense as it seems. Great english teacher.

Keith Aubrey is an excellent teacher. His lectures are not only fun and entertaining but the interaction he encourages between classmates helps you learn more than if you were working from books all day. Even though he is cool be prepared to give his class your all because he will not easily be moved by your writing. I highly recommend this class.

Super neat professor. Strange but funny. He'll definitely improve your writing skills.

This man writes when he speaks. It's simply amazing to listen to his lectures. They ooze with obvious talent built over a long career. Funny, motivating, and insightful. He is like a combination of Alan Rickman and Robin Williams in the best way possible. Take another class if you're looking for an easy A, you don't deserve his prowess.

Keith helped me rediscover my love of writing, after taking his 98 and 101 classes. Highly recommend taking both of those classes from him if you want a great classroom experience full of open conversations, stimulating questions and disciplined learning. Wish he taught 102.

Pretty good teacher, mostly talks, but knows how to make his lectures funny and interesting. Lots of reading, and group interactions.

He gets a little carried away with metaphors and does lots of "bits" but he is cool. He gives good feedback and he is really helpful if you just talk with him about what you may be struggling with or confused about.

I enjoyed his class a lot. He was always understanding and his class was quite easy as long as you tried.

First college ever. He is a hard grader but gives you a lot of feedback though. Unsatisfied with the grade, go see his office hours and get help from him- I wish I did that. His essays were mainly narratives. We read short stories and "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian." He is not tech savvy so no grades posted on canvas.

Enjoyed the content. He had a good sense of humor. Good feedback on every assignment!

If you are taking an English class especially in the morning I would highly recommend Keith Aubrey. You will never fall asleep when he's talking. He helps students understand what they are learning by acting out examples. One of the most entertaining classes I have! He is there to help you learn and not just to give homework assignments.

I had Keith for two quarters at Evcc. And let me tell you, this man is a legend. He is not a boring and script-reading teacher. He's constantly making jokes and "acting out" scenarios to make the lecture make sense. He is the funniest man alive. Don't be afraid to talk to him and ask for advice. His sport announcer impression is the best!!

I loved how he would compare everything to the seAhawks it really helped me stay engaged and participated more in the class!

Im not a big fan of English. But Mr. Aubrey made it pretty fun. I liked reading his comments on my paper and they made me laugh out loud.

Definitely not an easy A type professor but really pushes students for quality. Be prepared to work hard, really listen to his feedback, and improve your writing with each assignment.

His humor's not for faint hearted, though I enjoyed it. His advice isn't very helpful, he can't stay on topic. Don't expect an A or B+ if you're not already good at English. His lectures are interesting, though not necessary. He just yaps about deep topics and his odd examples. Learned interesting life concepts from him but not much English.

Keith is very outgoing and creative with his lectures. He comes up with examples that relate to the lecture on the spot and they are always clear and helpful. There were four essays we had to write, two of them were narrative, two of them were argumentative. All of the essay prompts allowed you to be creative and choose your own topic.

Mr. Aubrey is a great storyteller. I enjoyed his class.

Keith was such a great English teacher. He was helpful with the essays, gave clear instructions, and gave good feedback on what I needed to work on. Overall amazing professor with an amazing attitude and 100% would take it again.

Mr. Aubrey was such an enjoyable teacher, he told great stories and made funny jokes. I was scared at first because he had some bad reviews but in my opinion this was the easiest English class, he gave good feedback, and let us tell our own meaningful stories.

He was so awesome at feedback and was super funny, if you are not a big English fan you might not like his class but if you like English and improving your writing he's the teacher for you.

Honestly in my experience, Keith was an awesome teacher. I can agree that he is a tough grader but it feels like a "tough love" type of way. I always received constructive feedback that I feel genuinely helped me become a better writer. His way of teaching, although unorthodox, was engaging and fun for me. never a dull moment with this guy.
