Bohannon sucks, this class sucks. Dont take it. you will fail.
Pretty intreaging man to watch. He jumps around a lot, but his tests are way too hard.
Test are challenging. Your tests are the only grades. Read his syllabus online before taking his class.
I feel sorry for the poor soul who takes this man's class. He sucks to the extreme. He wants everyone to fail his tests! Caution.
Bohannon made the material very interesting. in response to some of the other reviews, i would not shy away from Bohannon. his tests are difficult, but we are in college and are supposed to study. so study and you will definately enjoy his class
Dr. Bohannon is a wonderful teacher. If you pay attention and do the reading you will do fine. I have reccomended him to all of my friends and would reccomend him to anyone. Take him.
This is the best professor in the history department at West Georgia. His test are not that hard if you study for them. He keeps things interesting with his jumping around and you always understand where he is trying to go with the material.
Dr. Bohannon is a wonderful teacher. His class is not very difficult. If you study his review sheet and do the assigned readings then you will do fine. I have reccomended him to all of my friends and would reccomend him to anyone.
HE SUX! His ignorance is astounding!
Very difficult for honors, all grades are writing based, so it doesn't matter if you really know the material, if you can't write well, this class is gonna hurt your GPA like it did mines. I did ok in other history classes, but his was just way over my head, I fell asleep almost every class period.
Hard class, but worth it. Read everything. He is a great professor. i liked listening to him. A must for history majors.
Very judmental man towards students, wouldn't recommend him. Wants students to do poorly- says he only needs a sentence or two to explain your ideas on a specific test or quiz question and nothing is clear or specific enough for him- even after 3 pages are written. Be CAREFUL with this one! Bad grades to be expected!
His exams are half identification and half essay. If you study 2 or 3 hours you will do fine. If you are a history major this will be an easy A. If you are an early childhood education major you may want to brush up on your analytical and critical thinking skills.

I would advise anyone who is not a history major to NOT TAKE HIM!!! He expects students to be able to read and interpret and remember 2 chapters a week...and THAT'S in addition to other readings he assigns. As a person he is okay but as a professor I would not recommend him. His tests are extremely stressful and the essay questions on the study
Great teacher. My favorite. Really enjoys what he is teaching, and also goes to great lengths to answer questions. Assigns a lot of readings, but they are very helpful to the overall understanding of the course. If you act like an actual student, and study the material, you should do fine. Would recommend to anyone that needs a history course.

BoBo is great! I like the way he conducts the class and is always respectful towards his students. He is even nice to people who ask questions like "So when the slaves escaped from the south they went to the North? Come on, if he can keep from laughing at that student then he is a god among professors!
Great Teacher!! I would recommend to anyone!!
The Best History teacher ever
not good TEACHER

He's boring, but respectful and fair.
HE'S A COOL TEACHER! HIS TEST ARE FAIR. AS LONG AS YOU STUDY, TAKE NOTES, AND COME TO CLASS YOU SHOULD BE FINE. HE HAS SUDDEN OUTBURST TO KEEP STUDENTS ATTENTION, BUT OVER TIME YOU GET USE TO IT. HE WONDERS OFF TOPIC SOMETIME BUT IT MAKES THE CLASS A LITTLE MORE LIVELY.
This guy is boring at times. He gives essays for test, and if you are slacker you might want to stay away from his class.I enjoyed it because I love history
He is very monotoned but tries to spice up the class by randomly raising his voice (usually he does that is he catches someone sleeping). His class is very EASY and i would recommend him. Tests usually consist of 2 essays-25pnts a pc. and 25 vocab. -2 pnts a pc.
Had him for GA History and Jacksonian America--he's a good professor. I've had him two semesters in a row. There is a load of reading, and he loves book reviews. As long as you put forth effort, the class isn't that bad. He has funny outbursts frequently, and he'll cut up in class when provoked.
If you attend class and take good notes this class will be a breeze. He gives a study guide with about 40 words and puts 25 on the test and he gives the essay topics before hand. He does give quizzes so its important to read the articles that he assigns. You really don't know when the quizzes are. I would recommend him.
Very smart. If you do the readings and put in 3-5 hours a wekk of study time it's a guaranteed A
I don't know what else to say other than he is a great teacher. Don't listen to the "he sucks" people. They probably got Cs or worse. What, a class where you actually have to put forth effort to get a good grade in? This can't be true!

Entertaining Lectures...horrible choice of texts
He is very boring. He has a passion for history and tends to babble on and on about things we weren't tested on. Honestly, you wouldn't have to go to class because the tests are 25 vocabulary terms and and an essay question. Just be sure to get the list of words and possible essay questions.
Great teacher, he really knows and loves history. I would recommend him to anyone taking this class just make sure you read the readings every week!
This class was so easy! You might want to buy the books but if you did well in high school history classes you should be fine. The articles (some of them) can be found on google if you would rather find them than buy the books. Dr. Bohannon is very helpful after class and allows you to make up tests and quizzes.
All he does is lecture. He is the only "old school" prof. I have had at this college. I could not pay attention. That being said, I still made an A. READ everything, and take notes on the reading and lectures. And talk everyday during discussions.
On test days you may leave the room but you should return, if you don't return he'll give you a zero on your test. All his tests are essay questions and are over assigned articles that usually have nothing to do with what he is lecturing about. He doesn't go over the answers he wants on the tests but he'll take off if it isn't what he wanted.
He is HARD ! No , don't take him if your taking this class "just because" it required. He only has 2 test mid - term and final , study guide is definitions , YOU HAVE TO GET BOOK DEFINITIONS ! And the essay questions seem to require prior knowledge of history.
The class is very boring. He only grades you on tests so if you are not a good test taker don't take him. All tests and quizzes are essay and are not easy.
If you are lazy don't take this class. If you don't go to class. don't take this class. But if you are a student who cares and puts in effort it's an automatic A. He is extremely helpful. Test are straight from lectures. The only downfall for me is He grades on spelling for the in class essays. Overall great teacher.
he is good , he keeps you on toes, very helpful, attend class and office hours. stick to the study guide.
Do not take if you have AD(H)D! Even medicated, I could barely keep up with his lectures. There was little emphasis on what was important to remember and his train of thought appeared to bounce all over the place. No consistency. No PowerPoints, but he wrote a few wordsphrases on the board (though half of it was useless info). Would not recommend.
Best history professor I have ever had. Class is not difficult if you pay attention to lectures and assigned reading. He is very concerned for his students and reasonable in his expectations. He can also be very funny. He really knows his stuff.
Very nice teacher, but his lectures can be very boring. Very old fashioned so don't expect power points, everything in class will be straight lecture. Tests and quizzes are in essay form completely over lecture. If you miss class you'll probably get very behind. Readings are pretty long and boring. Grading scale doesn't really make sense, but fair.
Great Professor. Really knows his subject area. His class is enjoyable.
The class was super easy, but he was very bland when doing lectures. He does not create powerpoints, he writes everything on the dry erase board... so sit where you can see because the markers never work. Taking notes really is not necessary because the only things on the final and midterm are definitions and an essay question.
Wonderful professor. I highly recommend him. His class taught me a lot about history.
Every week you are given several reading passages, he says there is a "possibility" to have a quiz that Friday, most of the time he cancels quizzes to catch up on lecture.
Dr. Bohannon has a habit of telling you to study for a quiz and then not giving the quiz. He also had very unclear grading criteria. He gives quizzes several times but only 2 tests. His lectures are extremely boring but you must attend class. You dont even open the most expensive textbook that you buy.
BORING! This class was ridiculously boring all he did was lecture in a monotone voice, and didnt even have PowerPoint to help guide you. He would just write random words on the board so it was ridiculously hard to take notes. Overall the class was very easy. I hardly ever showed up and I got As on everything I turned in.
This professor was amazing! I really understood more about History by his teachings. I understand that many people did not understand his lecture but if you show up and pay attention, and go to SI you will succeed. He gives fair warning about quizzes on articles and only 2 test (midterm and final) and a paper. Easy A, if you put the time in.
Dr. Bohannon makes Ben Stein look like a party animal. Lol. He's very knowledgeable, so be prepared to take plenty of notes. Just don't take this guy for a moring class. Caffeine won't work.
He is very dull in giving lectures, not easy to follow along, because all you want to do is sleep. I suggest taking a late class with him or not taking him at all!
Out of all the professors I have had, this man is the absolute worst. He is so inconsistent because he simply cant handle the work load of grading, so he changes quizzes everyday. There is no multiple choice on anything, and he grades like this is a 4000 level class. This was the hardest class I have ever take. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS!
Professor Bohannon gives a mid-term and a final and you have to match a word to a definition and write an essay on both tests. Quizzes are graded really tough and it is worth as much as the final. If you study you might do well you just have to know what he wants, if you didn't put a term(one word) or a phrase down he will literally give you a 50.
Bohannon is awful. He grades like a monkey and has no rhyme or reason to his system. He has no clear rules for writing papers, essays or answers in general. I took his online class and hated every second of it. He expects you to pick up on one sentence phrases to put in your answers, if you miss it, he gives you a 50% grade. Hes TERRIBLE.
All you need to do in his class is READ the assigned articles and books and understand them. He gives out the questions that will be on the quizzes. His pop quizzes are not really hard if you READ the article(s) they're over. The only thing I would write down during his lectures are the definitions that are on final. You can make an A. Just READ!
Be careful taking this guys class. Not a very good teacher. There is no method to his grading of papers, just got mine back today and he grades like it is an English Comp class rather than a history course. You have to make sure that you have to read, and read everything, because if you don't you can kiss a passing grade good bye.
Class is a lecture. All quizzes, tests, exams are the same format: he writes 2 questions on the board and you answer them in a short essay form. There doesn't seem to be a specific format for his grading, since there's not really a correct or incorrect answer. He's said there's nothing wrong with my paper but still give me a 90. Had to buy 5 books!
Did not have 1 textbook, but required reading 4 books and writing 4 papers and 1 research paper. Hard grader on the papers towards grammar and spelling mostly. Very old-fashioned lecture (only spoke with no PP) but very easy to follow. Over all very good professor, but heavy leccures and readings.
Your grades depend on your midterm, final, document analysis and quizzes. The papers must be written in a way that hell like them but he NEVER specifies how he wants them. Youll read a lot. For quizzes, midterm and final hell give you the questions before hand to know what youre looking for while readings. LOTS of reading and boring lectures.
Amazing professor. He is extremely knowledgeable and articulate. He is understanding and can be really funny. Not an excessively hard grader.
I really appreciated this class. He is a very nice man and is very approachable. There are very few tests . There are multiple quizzes, some that you know about and some you don't, but he usually does them all on the same day so it is easy to anticipate. I recommend coming to class and doing the work that is required. You will do well then.
Class is straight up lecture. "Pop" quizzes just about every other week over the assigned readings, which aren't really difficult. The midterm and final are straight up vocabulary, which are easy enough to find in the text. He doesn't correspond on Courseden at all, or keep a running average posted. The class isn't difficult, but don't expect much.
This professor has a heart of gold. He gave me an extension on my midterm after I panickingly accidentally sent him a message meant for my chemistry teacher about having missed a chem exam due to stress and working on my precalc stuff. He explains very in depth. Lecture and reading heavy class, but he is pleasant to listen to and be around. 10/10
Mr. Bohannon is very inconsistent in the way he grades. I would not recommend him as a first or second choice as you will face very difficult times. He communicates with students only when he's out and although we can ask for our grades to be reviewed, his explanations often do not make any sense. Messy professor no one should have to deal with.
I did not have the best semester in his class. I have never taken a class that has read so much. You have at least 3 or 4 weekly readings that are way too long and that's what all the quizzes will be over. His lectures are boring and all he does he write on a whiteboard and talk. Attendence is not mandatory but I suggest you go. I do not recommend
Do not take this guy's class. He will ruin your semester.
I took this course online and he very quickly replied to emails. As a graduate student with a family and a full-time job the course structure was difficult because he would add quizzes the week of that I had not planned for around my busy schedule. His grading is not necessarily hard you just do not know why you made the grade you made.
Not good
He gives no direction for what is required of you, extremely long readings with 2 question quizzes.
Very nice, and is very excited to teach. Attendance is mandatory, but if you miss a quiz in class he will let you make it up online. He is a very sweet man and actually made me want to learn because he was so passionate. I would 100% take him again if I needed to.
save your gpa and dont take his class
Save your GPA and DON'T take his class! He is a very tough grader & he is the type of professor who doesn't grade according to their given rubric. If your taking one of his online classes, quizzes/exams are always open ended, but he doesn't have a very open mind to your responses. He specifically looks for something he would write.
I do not recommend him. Every week we were assigned extremely long articles or books to read by Friday that we had to write a discussion post response for and/or take a quiz on. The quizzes were all paragraph responses as well. He never provided rubrics for written assignments and never provided feedback. He simply put a grade on the assignments.
Dr. Bohannon is a very nice man, he is willing to help you out if you just ask and participate. I love history and he very passionately speaks about what he is teaching and clearly loves and cares for the subject. Weekly readings and sometime response papers in class, but they are easy if you read the chapters assigned.
Worst professor I have had. I was making an 80 on all my essays and I emailed him asking why, and what I could do to fix it, and he responded with “Your writings are OK”. Definitely would recommend finding another professor
There was an average amount of reading involved for a college class, and he gives good feedback. He is willing to negotiate your grade if you email him for critiques on your writings. I typically wrote twice the amount he asked and did just fine. Make sure you read closely and follow along with the study questions.
Although it is a very easy class, there is a ton of reading once a week. What does help though is that he gives questions to answer for the reading which end up being in the quizzes, but no matter how hard I tried answering questions and responding for discussion posts, it was never enough. He just wanted you to read his mind basically.
Very tough grader, quizzes and discussions post were all written and felt like nothing was good enough for him to be an A+ response. Very biased with his work
The worst professor I have had in the last four semesters! Everything is writing based with extremely vague rubrics and gives no clear direction. Midterm and final are both worth 25% of your grade. Assigned 80+ pages a week with a quiz that is only comprised of essay responses. Paid for this class just to teach myself every last bit of content.
