Best professor at the u of m! Replies to emails fast, lectures are clear and interesting. Cares about his students. Very kind, very intellectual. Makes you analyze things from a different perspective and it's amazing! Crystal clear about his grading criteria and tells you exactly what he's looking for, no surprises. Taking another class with him!
Very clear and specific about what he expects from students. Can come across as very patronizing, but that might be due to his monotone voice. Manages to keep lectures interesting though.
Great guy, a little shy. The powerpoints aren't the most exciting but he gets the point across and is clear about his expectations. Assignments are short and sweet, the textbook quizzes are fair - do the readings and it's an easy 100%. Great sweeping overview of Greek culture
Mr. Collins is very funny and you can tell that he genuinely enjoys teaching. He always shows interest in his students, and is always willing to be accommodating for when you need to miss a class.
Fantastic professor! Clearly loves the topic and challenges you to think deeply about the myths by rewarding well-thought-out creative and unique interpretations. Gives in-depth feedback on homework and will go out of his way to respond to questions publicly for the benefit of the whole class. Super understanding.
I took CLAS2520 online so I don't know about lecture quality but online content was great and gave mostly everything that was needed for the assignments, seems like a very intelligent guy by his email responses to my questions. Only thing is he is pretty particular about formatting and citations in your assignments/papers. BUY THE TEXTBOOK.
Really great professor! I have to admit that sometimes lectures can be boring and also he posts notes online so i guess attendance isn't really mandatory. There are short quizzes which are easy A especially if you take the time to read. Textbook is a must also two papers are assigned but not difficult. He was an easy marker and provided bonus mark
Took this course online with Keith and was a little disappointed. The course only consisted of 3 essays plus a take home exam, and the material was interesting for the most part. The grading material returned was not helpful at all, so it was very difficult to improve my work. Keith used really vague terms in his marking.
I wanted to love this course, but Keith Collins made it impossible. He ignored the updated MLA format. He claimed you cant use however to start a sentence. As an English major, Ive never heard this. In my essay, he wrote how he didnt agree with my statements, even though his opinion is completely irrelevant.
For our major paper, Keith wanted us to write out our thesis and a detailed argument, separate from the actual essay where we state our thesis and make our argument, so he knew what we were talking about, and actually deducted a mark for not doing this. His grading made no sense. Also, his tests focused on minor details, which made it hard to study
Took this class because of general interest in the subject. Was very disappointed with Keith overall. He puts up one slide per class and talks about off topic subjects. Reading quizzes were unbalanced, based on irrelevant minute details of the text instead of the broad topics covered. Also and insanely harsh grader for a first year course.
The dudes alright he will help but most of Tue stuff he talks about is useless and nothing is detailed also he's a hard marker
I took his classical myth class online 2520 because i was interesested in the class and throught it would hlep he with names for biology because biology names come from greek words. The stories were great but the teacher not so much, he a bad grader, dosen't give clear into and is hard to approach.
I don't like to bash teachers but Keith didn't really help as a teacher. Im taking his online myth class and im not enjoying it, his assignment are way to general and keith himself is not easy to approach, he kind of has a stuck up attitude.
I wish i could say this kindly but hes a horrible teacher, he really dosen't help what he ask for and what he writes on assinments are totally opposite things. He said everything you need for this course on umlearn and in the textbook which was not true. the whole course you have to use the internet and its hard finding publishers for references.
I had fun in his class reading greek myth, but none of the stuff he asked for on the assignments made any sense. What ever you do on the assignments is going to be wrong he marks according to his mood or he just doesn't know how to tech. I suggest not taking this course
As a teacher i rate him a one star, for the course its enjoyable. Keith as a teacher makes no effort to teach or do anything. His web site is outdated for assignments and asking him for help is impossible.
All I can say is i tried super hard in his class and I was set up to fail. What writes and expects are to different things. Keith lives in his own dimension and expects people to understand what he is saying. I suggest you don't take his class at the UofM take the myth class come where else.
Greek and Roman myth was super interesting and had a lot of fun learning about it online, what Keith was the problem in the class. As a teacher he dident know how to do his job and seemed to guess how the course ran. Because of this my grade suffered.
He is AWFUL, i didn't have any fun in his class. The course is created to steal your money without teaching you anything and the worst part is you get a bad grade no matter what you do or how hard you try in the course. Keith step up the course for you to fail no matter what.
For any student that wishes to take Greek with Keith online, suggest you don't. Keith is not a fair teacher, he takes advantage of his position and does not tell the criteria he is marking on. He does not give helpful feedback and if he does it's general, which is no help at all.
Greek myth is supppper interesting, learning about it was AMAZING. I had a great time learning Greek, but Keith is, let's say not the best instructor. I worked really hard, but Keith is a hard marker and his marking is not fair. If u enjoy myth learn about it by ur self. DON'T take the course
I regret taking this class, all it did is bring my GPA down and steal my money. The class didn't fun on schedule and some of the concepts the instructor referred to were not in the textbook or course notes and we were not allowed to use the internet. So nothing in the class made any sense, its just a cash grab class.
Like any course you have to put in the work... Everyone whos rating him badly is probably looking for easy credits and thats just not how uni is. For me this class was an easy A but you have to be able to write decently well. He knows his stuff and he will help you.
Hes awesome. Those who dont like him are just complaining cause they wanted an easy A.
Interesting classes, Lets students ask and answer questions. By far my favourite professor this semester. His lectures are extremely interesting and you will genuinely learn something useful.
Lectures are dry, doesn't explain how he wants the essays done, tough grader, can never be found at his office.
Made lectures interesting with side notes and Greek myths. notes were uploaded on UM learn so you didnt have to attend every class. Textbooks were very helpful for tests/quizzes if you actually read them. Grades fairly and is willing to review grades if you schedule a meeting. The class is already interesting but Mr. Collins makes it more so.
The textbook used in this class contains a lot of information and there's a lot of details to memorize. I found that Professor Collins gave solid, constructive feedback on all the assignments, and he was very approachable and welcoming if you needed any help. The grading criteria and assignment instructions were clear, and he was a very fair grader
this is not based on looking for an easy A. I took the Roman course and did fine. The Greek course is poorly constructed, textbook was never used. The assignments are inconsistent in style and formatting. He grades you like your getting a PHD. He cant take criticism, acts like he knows everything, and uses passive-aggressive comments in emails.
Although I enjoyed the content of the course, Keith Collins ruined my learning experience. When I emailed him seeking guidance in the course he was dismissive and annoyed. He does give some good feedback on your work however it is not without condescension. Don't take this class looking for an easy A.
I hated his course. The textbook you a supposed to base your reading on are incomplete and he expects you to understand most of the stuff based off the textbooks. I suggest not taking any of his courses or droping them.
Very tough grader, way too hard for a first year course. Extremely vague about grading criteria, and often does not follow the rubric he provides students with. Difficult to reason with and does not provide helpful feedback.
Horrible prof. Grades way to harshly for a first year course. If you think you deserved a better grade dont waste your time emailing him because he wont give you a better mark. His responses are very passive aggressive. Unclear what he wants from you.
Worst prof I have ever had by far. He uses a completely different rubric and completely different instructions to mark your assignments instead of the one he initially provides to you. He gives you absolutely no guidance and he responds in a passive-aggressive way if you say your grade is unfair. Stay away from this prof he doesn't help at all.
Absolutely horrible.... Grades on an entire different rubric then given without discussion towards class. Changes the assignment with less then a week of due date or on due date. You cant get any feedback, also say goodbye to any good grades because he does not mark fairly
Very nice and responds quickly to emailed questions and gives as much feedback as he can. Gives explanations whenever asked and genuinley tries to help student. Took his online myth class and have had a very positive experience interacting with him.
Very tough grader for a first year course.
He's great??? I'm honestly a little mystified by all the people who don't like him. Great lectures, reasonable tests, and very helpful if you have any extra questions. The class was really fun and interesting. He makes you read a lot, but it's just a bunch of greek myths, which are pretty fun to read anyway. Loved this course and this prof!
Do not take this course. Brings your GPA way down. To harsh a grader for a first year course. There is a quiz every week based off of the textbook so expect a lot of reading.
He was very nice and gave good lectures, but I chose to read the book during the week instead of attending class except for on Fridays. Each Friday he would give a reading quiz on the material, which werent very hard if you pay attention and/or read the book. There was also one big project at the end of the semester which wasnt difficult either.
Extremely unfair marker, very hard to tell what he wants out of an assignment, quizzes are easy all assignments are marked extremely hard and so confufusing to understand the grading system he uses. If you dont have to take this course DO NOT.
Will look for any excuse to fail you or give you a D in each assignment. He is misleading and asks for one thing on the assignment then claims he wanted something completely different on his feedback. He stresses how important it is to apply his feedback to the next assignment but he ends up lowering your grade if you apply his feedback.
If you take this course TAKE IT WITH ANOTHER PROFESSOR. This professor is absolutely disturbing, saying he needs to be persuaded for a better mark, will not mark you fairly, and if you get on his bad side your mark will suffer greatly.
Keith is a cool guy, great story teller, very respectful when people said REALLY STUPID SH*T IN CLASS. I have no clue where the hate comes from. The subject matter is very interesting, the quizzes and mid-term are SO EASY if you just listen to Keith tell stories and read a bit of the textbook, and the final project was pretty fun for me.
Dr. Collins is a friendly prof and a very fair marker. He wants his students to improve their writing so he is tough on you at times. He gives good feedback on your papers and all in all he just really wants you to succeed so I cant say anything bad about him honestly
He knows exactly how to teach the content of the course, but the information is sometimes too much for one session that he falls behind on the classes. Had to read 60 pages per week because he made reading quizzes every Friday. The lecture doesn't give you room for discussion, it's purely based on auditory learning. Work hard in his class for an A.
Professor Collins is a passionate professor. He provides a solid outline of the course with the class syllabus so you know exactly where the class is headed. Although he tends to fall behind with his set schedule, his weekly quizzes as extremely easy (as long as you read the assigned readings on time) and they are worth a lot - free marks (30%)!
Tons of reading, but if you have an interest in mythology it's worth it. Lots of memorizing but it's not too bad since it's mostly in the form of stories. There's one assignment and quizzes every few chapters that are multiple choice. Exam is mc and some written work. Prof is very nice and welcoming to questions and feedback.
Prof. Collins was a great prof. He knew his topic, often included interesting facts with the lectures. He does regular quizzes to make sure you read the textbook, which seemed awful at first, but having done them not a problem at all, they were very easy if you read the chapter assigned. Interesting lectures. Very nice person, very helpful.
I took Proffesor Collins classes in two courses over the summer; they were my first online ones. I found him to be kind and promt. Honestly, if you do the readings, it isn't very hard to pass the class. It's fun (for me) to read about history, so if you don't like to read, this probably isn't the class for you.
There was a new quiz every week on the lecture material of the past couple of days and the textbook chapter for the next classes. Reading the textbook is a must to do well. Gave lots of feedback on the 1st essay which made the 2nd easier, and gave students a chance to rewrite. Lectures were organized and the course was very easy to understand
Took this course as an elective but is definitely not an easy grade booster as there is a lot of reading (like the entire textbook front to back). the quizzes were easy marks so long as you did the reading and read the additional content. only 2 assignments and the expectations and feedback were clear. Honestly just do the reading!
Tough grader who takes off points on every little thing. There is a lot of reading, quizzes were easy and worth a lot, but I wouldn't take this course for a GPA booster. I definitely won't be taking any more classes with this guy.
Worst Professor I have ever encountered in my 4-year University. He is very judgemental when he grades. He would take marks out from tiny little things. Although IT IS NOT an English class, he would take a HUGE portion of marks away on things he did not even teach in the class. If you didn't write paper in a style he likes, U may get below C.
Took in winter 2021. I was always reading for this class. Three papers for 75% of your grade. Not any easy elective course.
As a non-native english speaker this class was very hard for me. lots of readings and he's a really tough grader. Lots of memorization for the final exam. It's definitely not an easy course for a first year elective.
Genuinely had a blast with Prof Collins' class. A ton of reading (you read the entire textbook), and quizzes every week to make sure you've done it, however, they're fairly easy as long as you know your material. Can be fairly tough on grading, but if you know what you're doing and cite credible sources, you'll be alright.
His teaching style does not encourage engagement with the content. You will be quizzed on tiny insignificant details. He is highly condescending. I don't know what he's trying to prove for a first-year class in a dying field. I don't t recommend taking any classes with him, and I'm convinced he is the one who has written any positive reviews.
Genuinely liked this class. HARD for an elective, but good. WAY BETTER ONLINE. Open book quizzes that actually challenged your knowledge, and lots of textbook reading, but it was fine. I get how some say he could be hard, and he grades pretty tough, but all it takes is basic effort. Only complaint I have is having to use Chicago formatting.
Was tough
This class was incredibly information dense for a first year course. Although Professor Collins is incredibly caring and obviously wants his students to succeed, he grades very harshly (many students failed the essay assignments). Otherwise, he responds to emails quickly and is very understanding towards unexpected circumstances.
Professor Collins is one of the greatest professors I've ever had. Lectures are well planned, and he knows how to keep them interesting. He knows the material well and is great at sending his points across. Grading is very fair and he is flexible in terms of due dates within reason. Overall, I enjoyed his lectures very much and would take again!
I really enjoyed the lectures and found them to bring a lot of clarity to the textbook readings. He also provided many opportunities to test your own knowledge while in class, which helped with memorization. The expectation is to read the entire textbook so be prepared to stay caught up on the chapters within the textbook.
Great lectures, if further explanation is needed he was always available. Nice guy, grades pretty tough though. Once you figure out what he is looking for in a paper it became easier.
Instructions were straightforward and he would respond to emails quickly. I took this class as a GPA booster, the quizzes were really easy and straightforward. However you have to put some effort in essays. In any class that has an essay assignment ofc the instructors are going to be a little more critical so grading was fair imo
An otherwise interesting course ruined by poor teaching. Marking of essays was ridiculously inconsistent. Took this course during my final year of astrophysics honours, and was baffled by how poorly papers were graded. Why an arts professor does not understand how a paper should be written is frankly beyond comprehension.
You wont get any sample paper for the final exam so its hard to figure what to study for final. The lecture notes are confusing and too long to follow up. You better not take this course if you wanna boost you grades, you may end up failing.
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE AS AN ELECTIVE. This professor is the worst and strict for no reason at all. This is only a first year course but he treats it like a graduation thesis paper. If you don't write it as he wants he will not give marks. Many students take this course as a gpa booster but do terribly bad or even fail.
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE AS AN ELECTIVE. This professor is extremely strict. This is a first year course but he treats it like a graduation thesis paper. If you don't write as he wants he will not give you any marks. Many students take this course as a gpa booster but scores terribly bad.
This teacher seems to lack empathy and pedagogical skills. Making it challenging for students to engage with the material,Overall his teaching style appears to create more obstacles than opportunities for the students and myself. WARNING: Never take his class.
Keith does not know how to provide feedback on assignments. Keith is not eligible to be in his position.
Don't even think of trying. You might think I'm exaggerating, but you will definitely lose time and effort in addition to humiliations. It's not only what he say, but also how he say it to students. The level of behavior and respect for student is far from academia in the way he threaten students to prove them wrong.
He's not a bad prof, he responds quickly to emails and is willing to help anytime. With that being said he is an extremely harsh grader, and pretty direct with his comments, would not recommend to take as a gpa booster genuinely
this class is textbook-heavy, so come to class prepared with the readings in mind. Textbook quizzes are also usually weekly. Most of the reviews here are kinda salty, but I thought that he gave good feedback. Honestly, if you keep up with the readings and assignments, you'll do well. Don't take this course expecting a good mark for nothing
I wish I got a better grade in this course, but overall I think the key to any Keith Collin's course is to take it in person. He's very kind and lenient in person + understanding that this is a first year course to many. Be ready to read. Carry a notebook with you that has definitions for Greek words. Took as an elective. Wish I took sociology.
My experience with Professor Collins was excellent. His online course was self-guided, but he gave helpful tips and advice for all assignments. Follow his instructions and put in effort, and you'll do well. He's quick to respond, eager to help, and provides thorough feedback. I was really surprised by his low ratings, given my experience.
Course is taught based on the textbook chapter by chapter. Quiz every week based on the textbook readings.
Tough grader and relies very heavily on the textbook. Weekly quizzes on 2 textbook chapters each ensured that I stayed up to date with the material, though it was a large time drain. I really enjoyed his class, and most of his feedback, though tough, was helpful. The class is well organized and I found his lectures very interesting.
Contrary to most of the reviews, my experience was great. I was nervous to write lengthy papers and an exam with an essay component; Keith leaves lots of critiques on assignments, which some might find harsh but the grading is not nearly as much so, and the critiques are valid. I ended with a B+. Keith is kind, understanding, and easy to reach.
Very interesting course content & lectures. I was nervous going into this course because of the other reviews, but Keith is a very generous grader, especially when it came to the essays and reflections. The most difficult part of the course were the multiple choice quizzes and definition questions on exams.
Very hard marker takes points off for small details.I went to go speak with the professor to attempt to raise my grade. I came into the meeting with around 10 talking points and she shot them down. I met with him for over an hour and he said he would change my grade after he reevaluates my paper, then he proceeded to raise my grade by 1 percent.
I was honestly surprised by the rating on here. From experience, he was a really cool professor and he made sure to engage with the class. His instructions were all clear and helpful, and I was given helpful feedback on my written assignments.
worst teacher ever!!!!
Not good 😦
This guy is not good. Would never take another class with him again.
Doesn't care at all about his students. HE COULDN'T EVEN BE BOTHERED TO PUT HIS NAME OR EMAIL IN THE SYLLABUS!
Feels like he fetishizes Greek culture, very off-putting person
Uses an outdated textbook, and is the rudest person I've ever met. It's like he gets off on making his students feel bad
If you like the classics, don't take a class with this man; he will make you hate it in one semester
IF YOU LIKE YOUR MENTAL HEALTH, STAY CLEAR OF THIS MAN
I was shocked when I read the comments on him at the start of the semester, but it seems like the only ones lying are the ones who gave him above a two-star rating. I was shocked that someone was so rude, actually exists in "friendly Manitoba." Avoid him like the plague if you can; it's just not worth it. Don't let him ruin your classics experience
As a fourth-year English honours student, I was disturbed by his lack of marking ability. If you don't write exactly as he is thinking, you will do horribly. You will learn nothing but how to be stressed from this class. Any professor who marks based on their beliefs truly shouldn't have a job, as you only learn to memorize and not analyze.
An online course shouldn't have grammatical and spelling mistakes. The majority of the course sounds like random rambles by a senile old man.
Don't bother with him
Never seen so many accurate 1-star comments about a prof before. Save your sanity and don't bother with him.
Don't take this class if you want to learn about Greek and Roman mythology. It's mostly all essay writing. If you don't write exactly what he's thinking, you'll get a 0. Rude and condescending feedback on assignments. Would never take another class with him.
Shocking that a professor can take marks off for grammar and spelling when his lecture slides have more spelling mistakes than my 6-year-old niece's first school project.
He grades really horribly Puts heavy weights on assignments Grades based on his own beliefs Not worth it, DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE
The word choice of the lectures is terrible! If you don't have perfect English, you will struggle! English is my first language, and I am having to Google words only to find out that he is using elaborate synonyms unnecessarily to sound smart. Makes it seem like he doesn't know what he's talking about and is trying to cover it up!
The majority of the links that he says are testable material aren't accessible anymore or are copied and pasted incorrectly, leading nowhere. I am shocked at the unprofessionalism of this INSTRUCTOR who acts as if he is a tenured professor. Get off your high horse. This is the reason you've never gotten a promotion and probably never will.
Not only does this course require an expensive textbook, but it also requires you to rent or find movies online. Many of which are not available through U of M services or easily found online for free. Simply put, this professor hates students and will do anything to see them fail. It's like he gets off on other people struggling.
If you ever wondered what the CIA torture training process is, take this course cause it's probably worse than that. Keith, if you're reading this, I hope you're having a bad day because you made my semester miserable. Three years of university and I have never been so shocked by the lack of care or effort by a professor to be a kind person.
Pretty hard to complete the activities when the links that are copied and pasted into the lecture don't work! Majority of the news articles linked in the lectures cannot be accessed anymore or the links are copied incorrectly making it impossible to access or find them. For an online class links should be correct or don't have them. EDIT YOUR CLASS
All of the matching activities to learn the art are so poorly made that you can't do them. The actual articles linked in the online lecture notes are no longer available, leading you to an Error 404 message. This is unacceptable and shows complete disregard for his students. It seems like he doesn't want to be there but can't afford to retire.
I'm shocked he still has a job. If you want a professor who cares about what they are teaching, avoid Keith Collins at all costs! His sheer lack of interest in the topic is outstanding! I've never seen someone who has dedicated their life to a topic hate it so much. It makes you not want to pursue the topic at all! STAY AWAY FROM HIM!
Save yourself the trouble and don't take a single one of his classes. Great department with a bad apple. Classics is one of the coolest topics to study, but Keith Collins makes it so miserable that you will never want to hear about it ever again. Worst professor at the U of M!
If a textbook is used, it should be up to date! The required textbook still uses BC and AD instead of the academic standard of BCE and CE. This is truly unacceptable and breaches the university's commitment to secularism in the classroom. As this is an online course without recorded lectures, it's horrible that he thinks outdated material is okay.
The only good part about Keith Collins is the fake 5-star reviews he left himself. The worst prof I have ever had. Would stay clear if you can
The heavy degradation of women throughout the course is ridiculous. Instead of describing Aphrodite as the goddess of love, beauty and pleasure, Keith Collins describes her as the goddess of sexual love. There is no need to sexualize a fictional character or any person for that matter. It is highly concerning behaviour. Don't take a class with him!
A direct quote from the lecture "The events of the Iliad and the sack of Troy have recently been made into the movie Troy (2004)" not sure how recent it is considering it has been out longer than I have been alive! The online learning materials have not been updated. This course is reused and recycled! Save your money and don't take it!
I'm shocked he even has one good review. He is such a horrible person and makes everyone else feel terrible. He also only gives marks if you share his beliefs on a topic, if you write what you think and what you believe, and if he doesn't, you will get a bad grade. This isn't learning, it's regurgitating information.
AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS
Such a bad prof
I got unlucky and took two classes with him, somehow, which seems to have gotten worse from the first semester. Although he was never good to start with, he went from a 1-star professor to a 0-star professor, but I can't give that low of a rating here.
His obsession with degrading women is concerning. Just because the civilization you are teaching about did it doesn't mean you should be doing it. If you take a course with him, I would suggest doing it with someone you know, in case you have to ask a question, don't go to his office alone!
Had to go to his office hours to ask a question as he never answered my email I did not feel safe being in a room alone with him. As an 18 year old girl that shouldn't happen at university
Says a lot when a prof can't be bothered to mention that they won't be at the exam until 5 min before hand. It's really not hard to send an email or a message on umlearn. The sheer lack of effort put into this class was astounding on the part of the instructor and department. Riddled with spelling errors and links that didn't work! Truly shameful
The most lazy grader expects us to hand things in on time but cannot hand them back in a timely manner is very condescending and feels you should be at every single class despite not adding anything to lectures and reading off a script that is posted online not to mention his feedback on papers is useless wants detail but only gives 900 word max.
He needs the paper that you submit up to standard with his rubric or your paper you thought was A level quality is now at a C-. He also does not make sources that you need for papers easily accessible which only brings your mark down. Long story short, he's a horrible professor, there are better professors out there that could teach better than him
not sure why people on here don't like him, he was great and entertaining as a professor. fair grading and gives chances for revisions. overall a nice dude.
I'll be real, the students in my class hate him and I do not get it. The workload was incredibly manageable, his feedback on assignments were clear, and the tests were straightforward and open book. He also responds to emails quickly and helps as best as he can. I had zero issues with him all semester.
My class seems to hate him but I don't get it. He's quick with responding to emails, clear with feedback, and the class doesn't have too much homework each week. He is a bit of a tough grader, but he outlines everything clearly in the feedback, which makes improving easy.
This Prof has the most boring lectures, monotone speech, and minimal enthusiasm teaching his classes. Quiz every week, 4 papers due, midterm and final test. Didn't know 35% of my grade going into the final exam. Prof has terrible organization and time management skills. I'm done the class and my final exam but I am still missing 25% of my grade.
Online content organized. Instructions and expectations clear. Feedback from essays detailed and gave insight of deductions. Easy to reach, fast responder. Allows extensions if requested with a valid reason. Harsh grader. Comments may be condescending. Reason for mark deductions may be questionable. Not a light course. 3 essays x 25%, final x 25%
love your enemies
Clear, informative classes and even though his courses are very heavy in terms of workload, he bumps up marks often and gives food feedback.
I've taken 3 of Keith's courses so far, and loved every single one of them, his classes are informative and he gives clear and easily understood slides. I understand the complaints about his grading, but he gives good feedback and grades harshly but fairly, always gives extra marks and is easily accessible outside classes.
Informative, eager to answer any questions, and gives good feedback on writing. Though it does feel like opinions are pointed into a certain direction when it comes to writing pieces and class discussions. Quizzes once a week based on the textbook, so lots of reading, not much homework besides that. Lectures are easy to follow and are posted after.
This man chose the wrong career, I think he can be anything but a prof
I took Greek and roman myth in distance ed with Prof Keith and I don't understand why he is rated so lowly on here. His grading criteria is clear and if you put effort towards your writing then you are guaranteed a high grade, and he is very kind and helpful and goes the extra mile whenever you contact him directly for clarification on any subjects
no clear rublic, unclear instructions
Keith Collins was a great prof. He is a tough grader but actually takes the time to tell you exactly why you lost marks. Responds to emails in a timely manner and genuinely cares about students if you reach out to him. His grading has improved my writing skills immeasurably and I know have this skill for life because of Keith's classes.
