Quizzes too hard! Easy concepts, funny, nice guy,but must memorize all 4 tests
Just go to class and print notes from website, should get at least a B
Tests/quizzes difficult, nice guy though. Need to read/study lots.
Great Professor, Tests are difficult. Lectures are great.
test are hard but anyone can make a B or C... you MUST go to every class though to pass.
Exams are easy if you attend every class and pay attention. Basically just memorize notes. If he tries to get you to subscribe to the WSJ, don't bother unless you want to for yourself.
make sure to attend every class. he asks many questions from lecture on the quizzes. I do not reccomend him if another professor is available.
Just memorize the course packet per each test, and you'll do fine! (Literally!)
Very easy class. Easy tests and no homework. If you come to class and study a little before a test you sould make an A.
HARD TESTS. Memorization is the main thing in his class. You get 4 pakets for each test and every single packet has almost 100 pages with the BIG FONT. And you are suppose to memorize each and every little thing. Nice guy though but i'd say that its a hard class. Sometimes on the quiz he asks
Very comprehensive and no textbook.
never been to class, never study, making B right now. test has about 30 questions and 5 of them are short answers. 3 test the whole semaster, no homework, but have to read a few pages of the wall street journal.
I had Dr. Cox for MARK 3336. This course consists of 3 Quizzes which are based on: Three packets that the students have to buy, the Wall Street Journal articles that Dr. Cox assigns (You will have to subscribe to the Wall Street Journal), and Dr. Cox’s lectures. The first quiz is based on the
very easy teacher. just go to class and take notes and students would do good.
good teacher. not too bad of a class
This class is really easy as long as you go. The tests are mostly based on the things he spoke a lot about during class and on the Wall Street Journal articles. In his packets, he gives copies of old tests.
Dr. Cox is a great teacher. His class is very easy. The tests are all MC with different color version, but inside are the same. I made a B in his class.
great prof. he incorporates the business world into his lectures which is very helpful in understanding the materials. 3 tests that totals 100 points together. fairly easy as long as you really understand everything in the packets.
easy class, easy A. 3 exam, no final. the class just cover 3 packages and wall street journal. just go to class and copy the missing note. you will be fine. btw, don't miss 2 point extra credit. that may pull up yr grade from A- to A.
Excellent teaching style. I personally do not like marketing, but he made it interesting and gives you a lot to take with you when you leave the class. Personality reminds me of Ernest P. Worrel (from ernest movies) and the dad from Frazier. For the tests, MEMORIZE the packet, its a big packet with big font, tests take 20 min to take
No Comments
Only had 2 exams to go by because of the hurricane we nver took the first exam, which hurt me a lot. Not much pts for x-credit. I found the class boring. usually youwould have 3 exams.you have to buy 3 packets/ no books. each pakt about 20bucks. and subscribe to Wall street.test can be easy if you attend class take down examples he gives. good luc
Great teacher. Provides notes no need to purchase a text book. Three multiple choice exams given. Exams not tricky. Questions directly from lecture and readings. Uncomplicated and easy to follow lectures.
Great professor. Provides great real life examples to go by. No textbook purchse. Memorize packets and you're good to go. Test questions are very easy. Little room for error though. We only had 2 exams due to hurricane. No extra credit. Would recommend him to everyone.
Taking him was a lot of fun. Material for exam is very easy, but you have to come to class in order to get specific examples. I recomended him to all my friends in UH
EASY A. I didn't show up to class 2/3 the time. just study your slides from the packet and read your wallstreet and you'll be good to go. Easy teacher. if you can't get an A in this class. i dont know what to tell you. nothing to complain about.
He is boring. This semester he only gave two grades. One extra credit opportunity. No room for error. You miss a question, you drop a letter grade. I don't recommend him due to such a stupid grading system. If he had given the first quiz (cancelled due to hurricane), I might have had a better opinion. Not recommended.
He was a good teacher. His test are really easy you just have to pay attention to his in class examples and the examples in his outlines. He was pretty interestin though. Very easy to listen to.
He stinks, does not care about his students. Rude when taking exams he tries to hurry you out. Doesn't think that it is his fault that he only gave us 2 test because of RITA, because of that my test suck. Grading system stinks also. He's about to retire so he doesn't care about his students. I have a 3.8 GPA and this class just brought that down.
All you have to do is go to class, read the packet and have a general idea what the wall street articles are about and an A is guaranteed. He asks a lot of questions on the tests that you only know if you go to class. Take good notes on what he mentions in class, because it helps keep you awake and make an A.
Easiest class I've taken at UH!!! Easy A if you just look at the packet!!! 7 extra credit pts.(7pts to your average) more than he usually gives he said, but they help. TAKE HIM!
The guy is easy, follow the packet and your're fine, easy A and you don't have to work that hard, do not miss an exam because he does not give makeups, I mean he won't do it, otherwise you're good if you go to class. Knows his stuff, even though marketing is boring.
Really easy class, the only reason you have to go to class is to copy down the notes he doesn't put in the packet... don't buy the wallstreet journal cuz the library has it in the database so just search for it and print it from there..
Great Professor! Very easy going. Gives a lot of bonus points.
Excellent professor. I learned a lot in that class and it wasn't because of hard tests and lots of studying, he's just a really good prof and knows what he's talking about. you don't need a book for the class, just buy his notes. tests are directly from notes and are very EASY. take this professor
It's easy enough, but you have to go to class to get all his examples for the exams. Don't worry to much about the WSJ, just skim and you'll be fine, it's in the library, don't bother buying it.
A real easy class, just read the lecture notes and day before the class
Great Professor! Must attend class lectures. Exam questions reflect info/examples he uses in class only. Interesting, clear, and fair. Opportunities for extra credit (no exceptions/additions). 3 "quizes" plus extra credit if you choose to do it. I recommend this class!
good teacher. find a friend and split the cost of the wsj. go to class for the lecture notes.
an easy A if you put some time into it DONT look over old test. go to class type up your notes and read them 4 times before the test and you should make an A for sure
Easy class. Pay attention to lectures and makes sure you remember the examples he gives the class. just study like 1 or 2 days of it and you will be fine. know the break down of the notes because tests can have a few detailed questions. notes are in huge fonts so not much to study.
You need to memorize the slides. I missed 7 questions on the first test, no A for me anymore. I would rate him as a 5 for easiness if you're able to memorize the slides. I don't like tricky questions. I blew it, I might as well go hang myself.
great teacher! he is extremely intellectual and actually fun to listen to. you do have to pay for the wall street journal for class but its better than buying a book. tests are pretty easy and gives extra credit. take him!
This class is easy. As long as you study the slides and write down any examples he gives, you should be fine. You will have to suscribe to the WSJ, he assignes articles but the questions are easy.
Very easy; must attend class or get notes. No textbook; he gives examples in class (these examples are on the tests!) and are usually interesting. Very animated teacher. Can get an easy A if know all examples and read Wall Street Journals the night before.
You can study the night before and make a good grade. Write down the examples he gives in class, memorize the slides and read the wallstreet journals, and u can get an A. lectures are pretty boring though.
I'm usually an A student, or a B student, and it didnt reflect in this class. The WSJ questions are easy on the test, but it's hard to study his notes because there's SO much, it's hard to tell what you need to know and what you don't need to know. When he gives an example, sometimes it's hard to tell what you should be taking from it.
he is fun and classes are interesting. I am an A or B student and i got a B in his class class. Its not an easy class like people say. They say its easy because u dont have much to do, thats true. However, the tests are so simple that it confuses you sometimes. I do recommend it, though, but make sure you rewrite all your notes and ORGANIZE them.
If you attend class, then the class is relatively easy. There is no textbook, just a subscription to the WSJ. The tests questions are based on the WSJ articles and the letures, including examples he gives during class. He is not always interesting, but it is really not that bad. Attend class and read the articles and you will do well in the class.
He is a great teacher. Kinda hard class. His tests are hard. just make sure you read all the assigned articles. He is very passionate about his class and is a wonderful teacher. class is very interesting. kind of hard though
good professor. no book, powerpoint presentations. not detailed presentations, so attending class is a plus. kind of confusing if you don't attend class since there is no book. tested on notes and assigned articles. recommended!
Excellent teacher; very entertaining and educational class.
EASYYYYYYYYY! just read the PPT's and the assigned articles and you should be good to go for the exam. I never showed up to that class and made an A. This class is an EASY B.
This class is useless, I learned nothing. You basically read a bunch of articles, thats it. There is no text book and everything is super vague. The professor needs to retire. He is still amazed by the invention of the cell phone. On the up side, its an easy A.
Cox is a prof that you shouldnt miss out on he is very easy! Tip: Go to class and listen to him. His exams are straight from the Powerpoint Slides and the Articles. Know the Slides by heart and read the article he does not try to trick you with the articles question on exam. Tip: Dont not buy the WSJ just google u can find all of them.save ur money
I am usually an A student but I didn't do well on my first exam bc I focused too much on the articles and didn't memorize the pp slides! WSJ easy questions, memorize the slides!!!
He is awesome! His class is sooo interesting. He uses articles that he picks instead of using a book, which is great! He has very informative notes/slide show. 4 quizes and that is it;The last quiz is not comprehensive... no final! He gives you a chance for extra credit too! I would defiantely recommend him!
Class is somewhat interesting, at times it can be very boring. To get an A you should be in class and study the power points because a huge chunk of the test will be on the power point material and things he discusses in class. For the articles you should just know about the big picture of each one, nothing specific. Study the power point slides!!
easy class.....
Great teacher! Makes lectures Fun! If you read all assigned articles and look over the power point slides that he post online you will do good. Really enjoyed going to his class.
Does not assign a textbook. Lectures with powerpoints that you can print. It would SEEM like an easy class but it is NOT easy to make an A. You can only miss up to 2 questions on each exam to be able to make an A+, and only 3 questions to make A. Make sure to listen attentively every single second.
Never Went to Class. Made a 92. Do the Math
go to class. know big picture of each article. write down examples. study powerpoints and you should be fine.
Great professor. He brings a lot of experience. I only went to class to take the exams. Study the notes and read the articles and you'll do just fine.
Articles are a pain b/c he'll give you 25 and only 5 will be on the test. Some test questions refer back to things he say in class that aren't on the ppt slides so attend if you want an A. Read the articles and study slides for about an hour b4 the exam and you'll be fine. 4 exams, 25 questions = 25% of grade. Max 6 extra credit % points.
Very nice and smart professor. He knows Marketing inside and out. Does not use a textbook at all because he doesn't want students to pay for the books. Everything is online! You have to study, but the class is easy and with the extra credit its easy to get atleast a B for sure. I got an A!
This was a very easy class. It is simple. Go to class, take down notes, read the assigned articles, and study. No textbook so this class is not time consuming at all. All you have to do for exams is study the powerpoint slides (especially the examples given) and the main idea of the articles. I got an A+ and I studied the day before the exams.
No respect for students! I explained how I missed a question because their was a major typo which caused none of the answers to be correct. He understood and told me that others had complained but since the majority of class selected the chosen correct answer, he refused to return credit. Instead, claimed he would change it next semester. How nice
Very easy teacher. Just go to class, pay attention and take down notes. Note down EXAMPLES that he gives in class. They are always on the test. And read the articles and remember the major points.
No textbook for this class. Quiz questions come from examples that are given during class lectures, assigned articles, and PowerPoint notes. Only 4 quizzes given and 4 possible extra credit points. Attend all lectures if aiming for an A.
I learned nothing worthwhile. His tests are not over marketing but his examples. Using your brain will get you nowhere. His questions are poorly designed and can be taken other ways. Just hope that your answer is with the majority or you're wrong. When you make a good case about a poor question, he'll just be a smartass. He can't be reasoned with.
Dr.Cox is nice and if you attend EVERY lecture, you will be fine. His tests are unusual and unordinary, because it goes over the stuff he talks about in the class. Know all of the examples since you will see them at exams. Overall, recommended and go to class, you will do well.
Good choice for most students since there's no real work. Bad choice for very smart students who can easily get A's in ordinary courses. Ambiguous questions and questions about his rambling examples(given orally only) might result in a poorer grade than you'd think. Only a moron could not get a B, but getting an A is not that easy.
Sure there is no book, but if you don't attend lectures you are... well, not well off. For a person who makes nothing but A's, I had to succumb to a B for this class. The tests are difficult to study for because there are 25 questions and tons of worthless material. I learned nothing about marketing in this class! He's a nice guy, bad tests!
I'm an A student, smart and hard worker. This class was difficult because of his ambiguous exams questions and the lack of a textbook. Cox's course holds memorization to a greater importance than actually learning and applying our knowledge in the business school. So heed my advice, take somebody else if possible. You've been warned.
no mandatory attendance, but he'll ask you questions about lectures on quizzes. the course is not bad, but there are tons of articles to read. he will test you on the articles too. pay attention in class and take really good notes. by the time the quiz is here, study everything and know everything. spent 1 night to study. 4 quizzes total.
Easiest B of your life. I attended the first 4 lectures then never again. 4 exams worth 25 points each which make up your average. NO BOOK! EXTRA CREDIT! About 5 questions per exam will come from examples in class whic arent on the notes!! Attend if you want an A, or don't for an easy B!
It seems like an easy class at the beginning, but the quizzes just get harder... you should attend class bc he'll use class examples on the quiz. For the quizzes read the articles and MEMORIZE the powerpoints.
His class is absolutely USELESS. Easy B, but if you attend classes should be pretty easy for an A as well. Although beware his "quizzes" are ridiculous and have nothing to do with ANYTHING! They are each 25% of your grade so don't blow them off. Good luck, horrible teacher IMO.
He is the only teacher that teaches this course so you really don't have a choice.I would recommend everyone to go to class regularly even though attendance isn't mandatory and take notes. If you don't you'll be lost. Pay attention, study his notes, and read the articles and you'll be fine, if not then you are SCREWED! :)
MUST go to class everyday, but no book. He does keeps the class interesting but he seems more worried about keeping the number of A's low instead of teaching. Theres 4 quizzes at 25 pts each and he'll throw a random question on there to throw students off. Hes one of those "trick question-happy" teachers. Easy B but for an A you gotta bust your a**
I don't know why his overall easiness is so high, I believe it's misleading. There are only 4 quizzes and they count for 25 pts for a total of 100 pts. If there is another teacher teaching this course I strongly recommend that option because taking Cox is a gamble.
He has 4 quizzes and they count 25 points each. gives extra credit chance worth 6 points, do them your grade will come down to it, trust me. Got an A, study notes and read articles and know how they apply to the notes. He will use in-class examples that will be on the quizzes, however are not on the note slides. going to class is a MUST to get an A
Tests are very tricky. Pay attention in class for his examples because his tests are full of them. Make sure you do his extra credit that he offers. Six whole points added to your final average. Must go to class and pay close attention to get an A.
No book, but coming to class is a must. Attendance is not mandatory, but a lot of the test comes from in-class examples. His tests suck..loves tricky questions on stuff he barely mentions. Attend class, read the articles, and you should get a decent grade, but keep in mind he seems pretty determined to keep you from that A.
One of the worst classes I've ever taken. 25 question tests, at least 20 questions are pure memorization tests such as the name of the company in some article he assigned to read and nothing to do with marketing knowledge. Attendence in class helps because he'll ask questions on the test about more random, pointless stuff he mentions in class.
This class makes me very angry. I have perfect attendance and i always pay attention to class, but on exams he overwhelms you with articles and examples he barely mentions during lecture. The more i study, the worse my grade is. Extra credit is only 6 points and i am looking forward to a C for the first time in my college career. Avoid him.
This class is a Joke, as in the bad way. Marketing is something I'm in love with but this class will bore the $h*t out of you. Virtually everything discussed is irrelevant. Articles are outdated and worthless and offer no value -- there's nothing being taught... honestly a waste of time & money. I'd say avoid him because the course is a joke.
Great class. I am not a marketing major but I learned a lot of good information about the marketing world. He is super nice and if you record the lectures and listen to them before your exams you will get a great grade!! Must attend class! No book either!
Interesting class..studied only a couple days before exams, but coming out of it with an A. Articles were enlightening (WSJ, NY Times). Attend class: asks Q's on exams from examples mentioned in class! Initially it feels like a no brainer, but you will wake up after the first exam grades are posted... btw, smoking hot light-haired european TA!=)
You only need to study for about a week (couple hours a day) before exams to make a good grade. Don't fall behind on articles - remember the title, GENERALLY what it was about, and where it fits into the lecture. 4 quizes...adds 6 pts to final grade!!! Might or might not curve exams (I guess it depends how low grades are). Made an A!
Interesting class, content and articles are useful. Grading structure is absolutely pitiful. For a class where the instructor is well prepared, you would think that the class would be more than 4 tests @ 25% a piece. If you mess up on even one test, your A goes out the window. Don't be lazy, Cox - fix the grading structure!
NEW GRADING STRUCTURE - drops the lowest of 4 quizes - wohoo! still gives extra credit and curves some exams. Feeling food so far...Articles are so interesting!
Professor Cox, has passion for his lectures. Attendance is a must. 4 test, the lowest one is dropped. Read read all the articles and pay attention in class. Great class.
Hard and tricky tests. His lecture is not clear. You must take good notes and remember everything. I personally consider this class is the hardest class I've ever taken.
This class is NOT hard as long as you attend class and pay attention to his lectures. I have obtained an A/B average for his test. Read the articles he posts take notes with the slides and ask questions if you don't understand. Dr. Cox knows his stuff and is willing to help his students in any way he can.
If you're great at memorizing this is the class for you! I'm not too sure why everyone feels this class is hard. It's an easy class, you just need to put in the effort to study and attend class. Study power points, articles and the examples given in class and you'll be golden. :) 11 points of extra credit!
He is an amazing professor. He is an inspiration. I want to be like him when I am older. He knows what he is talking about and it is interesting. I would totally recommend him over anyone. You have to listen to his lectures, study power points, and read articles. You can't be lazy. I got an A+ one of the easiest requirements!
It's basically a memorization class. Attendance isn't mandatory, but questions on the quizzes will ask specifically what he said in class. Have to read the articles assigned. I think he's a sweet, passionate professor, but seriously monotone, so I had trouble paying attention the entire class. But it's easy if you just pay attention.
Easy class. No Textbook, but you have the option of buying the bounded version of all the slides for $20. Buy it or print out the slides before class so you can take notes. Write down the examples he speaks about it class and read all of the articles. 4 quizez- 1 drop and no final. Loads of extra credit. Articles and lectures and interesting!
No textbook is required for class but he assigns about 10 two page articles to read per chapter. Highly recommend to print out the notes and take notes during class. Attendance isn't mandatory but class examples appear on the quizzes. 4 quizzes: 1 is dropped and there's no final.
NOT a straight memorization class. If you want to do well, it's seriously all about studying smart. Write down all of the examples he says in class (no matter how useless.) Pay attention to the general topic headings corresponding to each of the ppt slides. Know the general idea & companies/important people mentioned for articles. Made an A-.
Over all not too difficult professor. Just be sure to pay attention to details in his notes and lectures. Pay attention to everything he says because he will put random examples he uses on the quizzes!
This class is one of the most useless I've taken. It's extremely hard to pay attention because he simply reads stuff to you. He says attendance is not mandatory. It is if you want to get an A. A lot of questions tested are specifically phrased "in class I discussed". Requires you to memorize insignificant details. Not tested on important material.
Dr. Cox is a good professor with years of experience. There are 33 questions on exams multiple choice. Read the articles as well. He gives opportunities for extra credit that will be helpful at the end of the semester. If you want to make an A, make sure you go to class as the material on the test will be from key things he says in lectures.
Almost never went to class and made a B. You can easily make an A if you study his power points and take note of his examples during class (this is what kept me from an A). Make sure to attend when there are guest speakers. It adds a lot of points to your overall grade. 4 MC tests, he drops one. He also sounds like a gold mining prospector.
Easy class!! pay attention to his class examples and read the articles the night before (make sure to know which company each article is talking about). He gives about a min of 6 extra points and his test questions are easy. 4 test, 33 questions, drops the lowest one. easy class highly recommend him
Boring class and very boring lectures. But the class is not difficult. But you will have to pay attention in class. No book, strictly power points and lectures and articles you have to read. If you can stay awake you should get an A, but staying awake is easier said than done.
This class was really pointless, didn't learn a thing this whole semester, it's hard to take notes on the professor and he is boring, but sadly, this class is required. go to class and pay attention to his examples.
Good professor, easy class if you read the class notes and the articles you will be just fine for his exams. Going to class was sometimes unnecessary. Overall, fun easy class.
3 Tests each worth 33 points on articles and examples in class. Sometimes knowledge required for the test is mentioned in class but mostly it's random. Offers extra credit. Class mandatory if you want to make an A. No book required, just slides. Pretty boring though. Prof. Cox means well - an adequate but not great teacher.
Dr. Cox is a very engaged professor and is very excited to teach. He has 4 Exams 33 questions each, drops the lowest grade, the test are just over what he covered in class and the news articles. You have the opportunity to get 6-8 extra credit points by attending class for the guest lecturers.
How to make an A in this class: attend class, listen to his in class examples, read the articles for the tests- know who the articles about and the titles of the articles, MEMORIZE EVER SLIDE ON THE POWERPOINTS. Seriously. DO ALL OF THAT. And you'll have an A :) Nice man though
Everybody can make an A in this class if they just try and study. He is very passionate and I did enjoy him at times. 4 tests, if you are happy with first 3, you can just stop attending class because he will not make you take 4th. Definitely recommend!
Dr. Cox knows what he is talking about! The tests are easy, but you do need to attend class to get some of the questions right. He's very big on current events. The book used is actually a collection of printed power points you can buy for $20 or he makes them open for you to print out yourself. I highly recommend taking his course. I got a 100.
Easy class, read articles and power points and you will make an A. requires a little bit of studying pay attention to in class examples.
Keith knows his stuff with marketing and seems passionate about the subject. Unfortunately his teaching methods are awful. No book just random power points and his lectures. His test require you to know examples that he may of literally only discussed in class for a few seconds. This class taught me nothing at all and was a absolute waste.
There are around 36-40 articles to read for each exam. You should pay attention in class and take good notes.
Super easy class. You have to go to class to take notes but it is very easy. Gives a ton of bonus points for attending guest speakers and filling out a survey. Great professor and knows his stuff.
He didn't help much. Kind of a bad teacher. Asks REALLY stupid questions on his exams. And I mean questions that are absolutely irrelevant to the class. Try to take someone else if you can.
Very slow/boring class. Notes given online and in person. Lectures give little detail over things that should be common knowledge. Grade based only on 4 exams. Drops lowest, gives 6 points in extra credit for attending guest lectures. Exams are short but will test over specific examples given in class in addition to 40+ online articles/exam cycle.
